Up In Smoke Buffalo’s BBQ and Brew Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I have always been on the fence of this establishment. The prices are high with small quantities with the ridiculousness of not accepting credit/debit cards. The owners have also decided to be unfriendly to other local entities with embarrassing hostile actions. As a local that frequented their establishment, I will no longer do so and would recommend others to also pass on this restaurant for others that see the benefit of community which represents Wyoming.

I live in bbq country so I usually do not eat it when traveling-its just never any good west of here. However, this place served surprisingly decent bbq, not the best, but good. Service was good. We sat outside since it was far too loud inside, but still a nice atmosphere. The only downside was the cost of many of their items. Just a little steep.

This place was WAY overpriced, and cash-only to boot. We paid $17 for a large plate of nachos with chicken, and were shocked to see how tiny the serving size was, and crusted to the tinfoil it was cooked on. Also, the pricey personal sized pizzas we ordered were cooked in a toaster oven. Additionally, it seemed like more than half the menu items weren't actually available -- every time we tried to order something, the waitress told us they had just run out (at 5pm...) Anyway, REALLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Try the Mexican place down the block, or just hang in the occidental saloon.

Ribs flavor was good but spices got way to spicy and I like spicy!! Plus they were like room temp. Hubby had the flat iron steak which was done to perfection but the bacon it came with was ice cold. Prices went up our expectations went down. chef change occur or something ?

Found myself hungry and in Buffalo, WY at 9 at night. Not many options, but sure glad Up In Smoke was open. BBQ much better than I expected. Also tried the calzones. Who knew? A decent calzone at a BBQ place. Good atmosphere and friendly service. I do agree with some of the reviewers that the prices are high and the portions are average. Still, the food more than makes up for the shortcomings.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Had the pulled pork and sliced brisket with a salad. Also, gave in to temptation and had the key lime pie which was a modest serving but, satisfying. A great find for road weary travelers driving from Annapolis, Md to Yellowstone.

The first three menu items I chose to order I was immediately told..."I'm sorry but that is only available after 5:00pm". I finally found something they made at 1:00pm. They had the door open and ceiling fans running instead of the air conditioner so it was hot at the table. It was a little pricy but the food was awesome and worth every penny.

Price for the food was very high. Serving size was super small and the food was not that tasty. The waitress was very nice and did a good job or this place would get a one star. When we went to pay the bill we were told that we are a no plastic place here and I only had a credit card. How many times do you carry 100 bucks to pay for a meal? That was the first mention of the no credit card policy and he said nothing about where to go to get cash. I was super worried because my family of 5 had a 92 bill for 3 individual pizzas and sodas a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a brisket plate. We had two beers and I am still trying to figure out how it costs that much. There was another table sitting next to us that said there was an atm across the street that we could go to and that this happens here all the time when I returned to our table to ask my wife if she had any cash because I had zero. That has to be said before it is time to pay the bill.... Who doesn't take a card?

This place only gets one star because I can't give it no stars. Hubby and I had to cancel our camping trip and go home because the food made us so sick. Not worth it. It's hard to mess up BBQ but these guys sure accomplished that. I'm willing to try new things but damn. I puked. Very expensive for food we barely choked down. Cola tasted like ketchup no joke. Go to dash inn or winchesters. Hell even McDonald's. Avoid this place.

The beef brisket bbq was good. The cole slaw was different than cole slaw I've had before, but in a good way. Sadly they did not have mac n cheese when my mom and I were driving through. All in all perfectly good food and I thought the restaurant had great values: they try to get local produce and beef raised without hormones or any added stuff.

We eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience. The nachos with pulled pork were delicious tonight. Off menu Mondays are fun too. I love the potato salad.

Great BBQ, I had the pulled chicken sandwich with lots of sauce and kettle chips paired with a raspberry soda. Great place for lunch and is all organic!

Ok food lots of organic option but nothing real spectacular. Friendly staff that makes sure your drinks are always topped off a little pricey almost $6 for two small scoops of homemade ice cream. The part that's real aggravating to me is the fact they don't take a credit card it's 2013 come on you can get a card reader for your phone. The part I hate is they don't tell you about this until its time to pay I had to loan money to 3 people in my group because they didn't have enough cash to pay for there dinner. At least let us know in advance if that's how it going to be.

My fellow "yelpers" did not do this place justice. It was better than advertised. I did not have any drinks but from walking into the door and seeing the charming layout and building to the friendly staff, this is a winner but the food is what we care about. Ordered 1/2 pound of brisket and 1/2 lb pulled pork to go. They had a special soup, "roasted eggplant" which we ordered along with the pinto beans. Everything was first class as well as pretty good sauce. The brisket was very, very good and smoky. Pulled pork could have been a bit smokier but still some of the best. Would have ordered Mac and cheese but we were too early. What a gem and the all organic, locally sourced is fab. Truly a must visit.

Having spent many months working in the South I've eaten at more than a few places that specialize in barbecue. Some are pretty good and some not so good. Many serve their food in an"assembly line" fashion requiring customers to stand in line and point to the food they want before placing it on a cafeteria tray. Then one must obtain their own silverware, napkins and drink before finding a table that they are expected to bus when finished with their meal. This system is akin to fast food joints or family style buffets both of which I abhor. I frequented "Up In Smoke" a handful of times while in Buffalo and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. They have a wonderful patio for dining al fresco with lots of shade to keep you out of the suns rays. Our server, Nicole, was friendly and attentive checking with us frequently to make sure we were content. Sam, their new chef stopped by our table on our first visit and shared a myriad of information on the quality meats and ingredients used in their dishes. One does not often hear descriptions like Organic, Healthy, "Never-Never Beef", "Heritage Breed Pork" etc. associated with a barbecue establishment. We had lunch here twice and I enjoyed the smoked turkey sandwich on our first visit and the pulled pork sandwich on our second. The meat was incredibly flavorful and it doesn't come smothered in sauce the way so many other places serve it. In fact they bring a container of their delicious freshly made barbecue sauce to your table so you can add it to your food as you desire. This is the most uniquely flavored barbecue sauce I have tasted with a piquancy unparalleled. Try the nachos with your choice of meat!

I went here with a friend. The food was not bad and being vegetarian they accommodated me by making a veggie sandwich. The atmosphere is comfortable and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, Buffalo doesn't have a lot of restaurants that cater to the trendy or health-minded eater.

  • Richard F.

Organic means nothing if it doesn't taste good. The slaw is limp, over-dressed with a bland dressing. The potato salad had undercooked potatoes and was also under seasoned. The buffalo brats were very spongy and almost flavorless. The diet cola was tasteless. The service was very slow and there were not an overly large number of persons eating at the time. It was really overpriced. I would not return and cannot recommend.

WOW! For a remote location, this restaurant was a delightful surprise. We stumbled on it one evening when our intended dinner location was hosting a live music event and was too busy for our liking. Thank goodness for small favors. We walked into Up in Smoke, returned the following day, and then Monday of the following week. It was THAT good. We tried a variety of items on the menu and everything lived up to its our expectations. The first night they were out of the Ooey Gooey Mac -n- cheese. The chef promised he'd have it for us the next day for lunch and he was true to his word. Instead that evening he treated us to homemade peanut butter brownie ice cream. The mac-n-cheese truly warranted the enticing name. On Mondays, the menu is a three course, prix-fixe menu of the chef's choosing and all from scratch. On the night we went, it was a trio of bruschetta appetizer, your choice from two homemade pastas, and tiramisu. They even had live music on the patio while we ate. You just cannot beat the food, experience, service, and hospitality. When I find myself back in WY, I will be headed to Up in Smoke!

Food was great, we had ordered pulled chicken nachos as an appetizer which was very delicious (but...the waitress brought it with our meal not as an appetizer and she didn't bring the sour cream and salsa, but still charged us for it). I had a sliced brisket sandwich (I had actually ordered the pulled, but the sliced was great) the meat was tender with a great smoked flavor and my mother had the pulled pork sandwich which she also really enjoyed. The BBQ sauce was different but good, sweet with a mild heat finish. We had to end up asking the bartender for our check. The server was really nice a helpful with information, but being a person with a lot of experience in the food service industry I feel service is more important then side work, she was really non-existent at times.
