I really liked my experience here. The food was delicious I had the Orange Chicken and I ordered an "Asiantini" form the bar they were both great (the Asiantini would have been better if they'd used real OJ instead of SunnyD) and I'd love to go again and I recommend this place entirely.

This is the go-to place for our entire family. We are there at least once a week and get takeout regularly (hate that they discontinued delivery). Everything is great and the wait staff is very nice.

Passing through Charleston, I didn't quite want to come to a place that mixes different cuisines. But, it was busy and open, and we were hungry. Didn't order the sushi - I just had sushi I. Tokyo last week, and we're not going to recreate that experience here. I went for the red curry. It was basic in terms of ingredients, but really quite tasty. My girlfriend's pad see eww came lots of nice green bits. A little dry, if anything. Now, I wouldn't expect world-class authentic food, but for $12 or so, these were nice dinners. The restaurant seemed clean enough.

Let's start with the good - the menu has a pretty wide variety of Pan-Asian cuisine that you really can't find anywhere else, and the lunch specials are reasonably priced. The food is pretty good, as well. Other than that cleanliness is a HUGE problem here. Sometimes the smell is overpowering and takes away any appetite, that combined with the filthy carpet and run down interior really don't make it a very inviting place to eat. And to boot, the last time I dined there a mouse ran across my foot. No amount of variety, inexpensive deals, or savory fare will let me get over the gross out factor.

I came here because some local people recommended it and said it's the best. Previously I have tried Main Tin two doors down. It's more like your general Chinese restaurant with a buffet. Taste of Asia is a little fancier. The menu is extensive with a good sushi selection and interesting specials. I got the gyoza as an appetizer because it's my favorite. It was $4.50 and I got 5/6 (can't remember sorry!) little dumplings (see pictures). The texture was good and they were pan fried perfectly but the filling didn't have a lot of flavor. For my entree I got Pad Thai. The presentation was awesome. I also had 7 giant shrimp in there. As for flavor, it was a little different than other pad Thai I've had. It was more on the tangy/sour side. It was good, but that's just not the flavor I like in my Pad Thai. Other than that it was pretty good and you get a decent amount for $11.50. The wait staff was friendly... The younger girls didn't talk much and weren't bubbly or anything but I really don't mind that. There was a manager-like man who was really friendly and checked on my and got my check for me. They had a really good drink and mixed drink selection. The restaurant seemed clean except for my knife which stuck to my napkin from some sticky substance left on it. I gave this place 3 stars because although the selection is awesome, for the price I could just go down the street and get Chinese at Main Tin. This does seem like a good place to go out with friends in the evening though, and the food is beautiful.

Excellent food. Their Vietnamese spring rolls equal the best I've had anywhere. The panang curry is super. If you like Asian this cannot be beat.

We were passing Charleston, and I was in the mood for Thai. My boyfriend loves sushi, so we decided to try Taste of Asia because it offers both. I wish we had kept on driving. The restaurant was dirty. Everywhere. There were a TON of dirty dishes all over the bar, glasses, plates, EVERYTHING. The restaurant was almost empty. The service was terrible. The waitress didn't even make eye contact or crack a smile once. No suggestions, no help, whatsoever. I had to go find someone to get me a glass of wine from the bar, because our waitress took our order, and then disappeared for 30 minutes. The appetizers were horrible. The chicken satay was the WORST I have had. Ever. In my life. I swear it had actually been cooked, on the sticks, in the microwave. The temperature of everything was the same. Sushi, Chicken, Salad... all room temperature. Nauseating. I would have sent them back, but as I didn't see ANY EMPLOYEES in between silently dropping plates on the table, this was impossible. It was 8:00; not like it was the end of the shift. The "Thai" dinners were a joke. Pad Thai tasted like microwaved mush. This was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner, and we dropped $100 on garbage. So disappointing.

i don't know what these people with bad reviews are talking about! I live in charleston and go there like every week and it has always been impressive!

The reason for my semi-low rating is only because I haven't found anything I personally enjoyed eating there after visiting three times. Although, I think the food was just fine, but it just wasn't my type of food. The service was great, people were friendly and the environment was also classy. I love Japanese food, Indian food and of course, Chinese food, but this wasn't like any of that, and to me, I was disappointed. But I will continue to go back and try more selections, they have a large menu and my friends like the place and their food, so I'll give it another go.

I cannot comprehend why people like this place. Sure, the servings of food look pretty but.... 1. It reeks to high heaven of old fish in here. You can't even notice the oil smells that I hope are there. 2. The food is gross. The two times I've been I've gotten opposite ends of the scale: overcooked and undercooked. 3. The sushi is none too fresh. Can we say food poisoning, y'all?

Good variety of food, but probably for me, the best aspect of Taste of Asia is the fact they serve Kirin beer. Their Peking duck was good, but nothing spectacular. The wait staff is always friendly.

This place is cool with me. I was in town visiting from California in June 2009 (although I am from West Va) and I enjoyed this restaurant. The food was good, excellent service, and the prices were great too. I liked the decor - it was a really nice place to eat lunch at.

A good, sit-down asian blend restaurant. My wife has given up on Main Tin (next door to Taste of Asia), so this place looks like a nice replacement.

We had sushi here about 2 years ago and it was not a good experience. That kept us away till about three months ago. Decided to give the Chinese a try. WOW! Great presentation, fresh, expertly cooked veggies and pleasant surroundings. The eggplant in garlic sauce is my standard measure of an asian restaurant. Their's passed with flying flavors. The eggplant was of the small, long variety, sliced length-wise, firm with a chewy skin which i enjoy. The sauce was not overly thickened, garlicy with a black bean hint. All the dishes we ordered were brightly presented and the vegetables were perfect, firm and fresh. Good portions. I recommend highly the Chinese menu. Nice to have Chinese brought to your table like the old days before the super buffets.

Pretty good sushi, and the panang curry is tasty. Other dishes have disappointed. Food presentation is always lovely.

Taste of Asia has made some major improvements over the years, and not just to the decor and shape of the actual restaurant. They have added some top notch items to the menu and experienced individuals behind the sushi counter and in the kitchen. Taste of Asia has begun to pay attention to the details. You will not find a more visually appealing meal in town. The bonus is that not only is the presentation of the food beautiful, but that it tastes as good as it looks. The menu offers a wide variety from Chinese to Japanese to Thai cuisine. I have eaten off of each of the menus and have never been unhappy with anything that I have ordered. My current suggestion: any of the .curry dishes, a spider maki (it's beautiful), and gyoza

We haven't been in restaurant for sometime due to bad review from local TV station for not clean rating, but we decide to try again. my suprise, this time I found small rock on my dish. I had two other friends dine with me so I didnt make big deal. I called server and show what my findings. No apologies from manager nor owner and payed my bill. No more for me I'm done with this restaurant!

This has always been our place for Chinese when I visit my family in Charleston... We've eaten there a few times & had them deliver a few times as well, and always liked the food. It's good Chinese for the price. So we were quite dismayed when - on our visit a couple days before Christmas, as I'm about 1/4 thru with my dish, I see a roach run from under my plate towards the middle of the table! I'm a wuss when it comes to bugs & was startled & speechless. My sister said "Kill it!", which I did, under a napkin. It wasn't a huge one, but any roach any size running from your plate / on the table is enough to ruin your appetite - both mine and my mother & sister. I showed it to the waitress, who immediately got the manager, and he was very polite and apologetic, and told us we didn't have to pay for any of our meals. We left our uneaten food, and a tip for the waitress. I know that "vermin" and roaches to some extent "go with the territory" in terms of restaurants--at least I've seen shows & heard that inspectors will overlook a very small number of them-especially in the food storage area. But in all my years eating out - including in Boston, NYC & LA, all of which (I believe) are much more roach infested than South Charleston, WV -- I've never actually seen a roach on the table on which I was eating. In fact, I've never seen a roach in a restaurant period--I would remember! Personally I doubt if I'll be back, which sucks since there aren't really any other good local choices -- the buffets are nasty (IMHO) and Ichyban is way over-priced. I never got an extremely "clean feeling" about the place, but it seemed acceptable. And it was probably the most crowded I've ever seen it on this night... Maybe all those people scared the roaches out! I noticed that one other person mentioned seeing a roach on the wall when she was there (a few months ago in the "tips"). I wish them well, and maybe I'll be brave enough / desperate enough to try them again! My mother actually once had a roach in her actual take-out from the Chinese place next to CAMC (they tried to tell her it was a mushroom?!) but her co-workers confirmed it was a dead roach. Just be careful out there is all I'm saying! (The Huntington location of Taste of Asia is a little nicer / seems a little cleaner.)

Been here three times lately, I find it to be a great Asian restaurant. Travel a lot, and it's hard to find good sushi. This place really meets my sushi needs! The Thai is great too!

This place has a wide variety, and is good for vegetarians since tofu can be subsituted for meat. However, we ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce and it was just drowning in oil. I drained about 4 tablespoons off of it. The yam tempura rolls are awesome, which made up for the other complaint. We got seated in a far off corner, so service was very slow, but they were also quite busy, so take what you will from that. All in all, it's pretty meh, but, that said, I'm sure we'll be back.
