Wow, much better than expected. I've been let down too many times by other rural taverns/supper clubs that thought they could serve good food worth traveling for - this is an exception. Excellent service, both at the bar and during the meal. Every part was professional, and the attention to serving my guest and I shocked me. I thought I was in a high class restaurant in a major city. It was Friday, and we came for the fish. Both dinners started with a homemade diced coleslaw. Too much cider vinegar, and the cabbage should have been softened with parboiling. Baked fish dinner - The fish was perfectly moist. I squeezed the lemon to add some flavor. The green beans tasted so fresh I though they had a garden outside (farms abound nearby, so maybe they did). A square rye role was much better than a white roll. The buttered rice was perfectly cooked and moist. I liked the fact that they listed their regular shrimp dinner as "pre-breaded." It was less expensive than the Gulf shrimp dinner, and many other places would cover up that fact - showing that this place cares. Gulf shrimp dinner - The shrimp were large as expected, and delicious. The fries I definitely give a 5 star rating due to their seasoning, texture, and perfect flavor. We also ordered a few pieces of hand breaded fish - wow. The breading had a texture that I have not had before. It was a batter infused with corn meal for a slight crunchy texture, and a tad of extra salt for flavor. Chocolate cake - Each slice was sized for one person, and about half the slice was a smooth chocolate ganache. This supper club was worth the 50 minute drive, and I will be back.

Visiting from Appleton my friend suggested coming here for dinner on a Friday for the fish fry. Knew it had to be something good due to the small lot in back packed to the gills with cars. My first impression on entering through the side door was, a typical Wisconsin tavern. Put our names on the list and grabbed a spot at the bar. Our wait was about 10 minutes, short wait for a Friday night on Wisconsin. Entering the dining room, after the weird little step next to the bar, I noticed that the dark environment was shared through the entire building. I was warned about dolls, but they were apparently in the other dining area. Our server was very polite and cracked some light hearted jokes. The specials were listed on the grease board in the bar, but I missed seeing them on the actual menu. The menu itself was pretty straight forward, with the usual fare. I ended up choosing the sirloin steak, and my friend got the fish fry. I was told the fish was good, my steak seemed a little lack luster for the $20.99 price tag(includes choice of potato, soup and salad bar). Decent size, the initial flavor was good, but by the time I got to the last third of the steak it began to taste like cardboard. Dessert menu included after dinner ice cream drinks and baked goods, which we decided to pass on. Would like to go back and try everything that was suggested when we were there, th e fish, cheese curds and dessert drinks.

My son was food poisoned by there gulf shrimp so beware! Poor kid vomited all night till every bit of what he ate there was out of his system. I called to let them know so there are no more victims, and I don't even hear, that's aweful. Or poor kid went through that. Nope nothing. Plus the rest of our food was pretty aweful, the salad bar looked like it had been sitting there for days going spoilt, the place was dark, dingy , outdated without any real cuisine, you are better off with the Gortan's fisherman and save your money and the trip. All Sysco prepared foods, don't even make there own bread! Yuck

Went here with the mother, wife and kid last weekend. Not really the kind of place I was expecting on the Rt 10 corridor, so there's that. The wine selection is lacking, though again, it's central Wisco and you should be happy they have any wine beside MD 20/20 (which they did). The service was good, the salad bar was reminiscent of any typical run of the mill supper club (nothing special hence nothing to screw up). Mom ordered the prime rib (which I regret not doing), the wife had filet and I decided to take a trip into nostalgiaville and get frog legs. The prime rib was good, nothing phenominal, but on par for what prime rib should be. The filet was the strangest, thinnest looking filet I have ever seen and tasted a bit like liver for whatever reason. My attempt to reconnect with my childhood via amphibian appendages was cut short. They were batter fried far too long, had very little flavor of their own and had no descernable spice or herbs added. Not what I was expecting at all. #dissapointment in the nth degree. On the plus side, the bartender did make one helluva old fashioned.

Super busy Friday night but got right in. Great service with friendly attentive waitstaff. Overall food is good but for some reason the fish tasted fishy. Will try again.

Best fish fry and cheese curds anywhere. Also, the prime rib on Saturday nights is delicious.

Love the place! I live in the Chicago area but get to Marshfied to visit my wife's mom at least 5, and sometimes 10, times per year, for the last 25+ years. Each visit, now, we try to get the few miles over to Stratford for dinner at Buck-A-Neer. It's got the best Friday fish-fry in the area. The deep-fried appetizers (curds, mushrooms, etc.) are terrific. Quality was down for a few years in the mid 80s, but has been consistently high for decades, now. Look, this is not haute cuisine, and they don't pretend to that. It's comfort food, done consistently well; when I met the owner a few years ago, she was nothing like the kitchen dictator I pictured guarding the food quality. Give it a try, & order what the waitstaff recommends.
