We've been to Fork in The Road many, many times. Dennis and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Never have we experienced poor service or food. The restaurant is decorated beautiful especially during the Christmas season. Consistency is key & they have it. Great every time!

Besides this place being haunted (which is actually really cool), I have no complaints. All the food here is really really good. Especially the fish fry! We always love going to a place with so much history! I don't know if it is open again yet, after the fire upstairs, but hopefully it will reopen and continue to serve delicious food!

I love this place! I have been eating here for 6-7 years and they are always consistent with everything. Great food, drink, service and atmosphere. I have had numerous menu items and loved all of them. Tonight there were 6 of us having dinner for my Mom's birthday. It was packed when we got there and were told that the wait for the table would be about 45 minutes, but that's just fine because they have a great bar area, great drinks and bartenders. Once we sat for dinner, we all decided on different meals and were all really happy with all of the food. For as busy as it was, our server was friendly and attentive. We had food and drinks quickly and she checked on us. My mother was given a dessert to celebrate her birthday (homemade chocolate eclair torte) and it was awesome! And the owner sand out loud, which was an appreciated gesture. I highly recommend coming here. And if you do, make sure to order their Famous house salad!! I will be back many more times.

Very nice place. When you walk in at the bar, you may think oh another Wis. bar & grill. Ahh, but no, the food is much more upscale. The restaurant is remodeled and has comfortable decor. Food can be quick burgers or something different, steak, soups, fish. Would recommend.

YUMMMMMM! As a Wisconsin native, I am plenty used to the traditional Friday night fish fry. Fork in the Road takes it to another (classier) level! We went the day after Thanksgiving and didn't have much of a wait, which I hear is quite unusual for this establishment. So, if you're going to head out for a Fri night fish fry, get there early, or be prepared for a wait! The bartender was friendly and the list of festive holiday mixed drink options, regular drinks, & beer was excellent. A round of drinks for 5 with two beers, a mixed drink, & two soft drinks was a mere $20 (much friendlier on the wallet than Atlanta!) So what did the vegetarian have for the fish fry? Well, obviously not fish! I was prepared to be stuck eating a lousy side salad or french fries but was extremely happy to see several options for me, most of which included fabulous Wisconsin CHEESE! Being a fan of mac & cheese, I opted for the pick-your-own, which was enough for 2 meals. It's a base of amazing m&c, and then you select 3 additional ingredients, ranging from bacon to spinach. I selected spinach, fresh red pepper, & sun dried tomatoes. Seems odd, right? NOPE - delectable! It also came with a soup or salad side option and I chose the salad. It was an excellent mixture of greens, candied walnuts, & house made dressing. Everyone seemed happy with their fish selections and the bread and cheese curds were quite good too. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to visit again to try some of the other meals!

Sadly on March 23, 2015 there was a tragic fire at Fork in the Road that started in an upstairs apartment, and the restaurant has been closed since. If you have dined at the restaurant then you know that the service is superb and the food is fresh, made to order, seasoned well and absolutely delicious. In my opinion, there is NO other restaurant in the area that compares with the quality of food and service that Fork offers. What you may not know, is every year Fork gets hundreds of requests by non-profits, youth groups, charities, and special event groups asking that Fork in the Road sponsors or donates money to their events. Unfortunately, this year will be different do to a loss of revenue of several months. Dennis the owner is a very sincere, sensitive man who cares immensely for his employees, customers and his communities, and generously gives donations to as many as he can, however, the numbers are far to great to accommodate everyone. Now that Fork in the Road is remodeling after the fire and trying to reopen by September, I'M ASKING YOU to show Dennis just how much he and his restaurant are valued and appreciated, by sending a donation to Fork in the Road. Send checks directly to Fork in the Road at 215 N Rochester St. Mukwonago, WI 53149. Write SAVE THE FORK in the memo line. By donating money, the owner and staff will know just how much they are missed, and Dennis can apply the money where ever it is needed, for the restaurant or back into the community. Thank You. My only connection, is that I'm a satisfied customer.

Nice, New American style dining, with enough classic dishes to appeal to the traditional diners. The ambiance could use a little work. The decor is very sparse, and the dining area is one big room with hardwood floors, naked walls, and tall ceilings. As such, everything echoes and you can hear the conversation of other parties across the room. We went at 3pm, so it was only ourselves and one other party, but as dinner folks came in it got uncomfortably loud. I would not come here in peak hours. We had the cheese curds for our appetizer, which were a nice departure from standard bread-battered curds at the bar. I think it was a vodka batter, served with house made ranch with lots of dill and garlic. Very tangy, but not overwhelming. I had the Friday fish fry, and it was a fresh and flavorful take on the classic. Their potato pancakes were just perfect, and the slaw was delightful as well. My only issue was that it was a little heavy, with very few veggies to balance the dish. My partner had the make-your-own mac n' cheese, which was very tasty, but the ratio of pasta to toppings was a bit off. The serving was absolutely huge, and I'm honestly surprised that they finished it. There were about 4 cups of pasta, smothered in delicious cheese sauce, but only a handful of chicken and bacon pieces. They were still very tasty, but a smaller portion with more attention to the toppings would have been more satisfying. Again, it was a very heavy dish, but we were expecting that from a mac n' cheese. All in all, a very good casual dining place, definitely a step above any chain restaurant, but the food is somewhat heavy and with huge portions. Similar to a lot of New American places that give you big meaty burgers, deep fried goodness, and lots of fatty flavors. Enjoy it, but perhaps plan to take a few boxes home with you. Prices were super reasonable for such huge portions.

What a terrific spot and it will sorely missed. Recent fire has taken this local hot spot out of business as of April 2015.

This place is kind of a child hood staple ! The owners are super nice, friendly and remember everyone they meet ! For being located in a smaller town it has big city flavor . The ingredients are always fresh and they are constantly updating their menu to stay on the latest food tends . They do offer carry out as well If you need food on the go . In the summer they have a back yard patio or you can sit on the wrap around porch . For a starter I recommend the hand battered pickles ( they keep them long and not cut into pieces ) . They also have my favorite French onion soup . For the salads I recommend the Greco-Italian salad . The salad comes with a parmesan-crusted poached egg and warm garlic pita bread , where else are you gonna find that seriously ?! They also have daily specials which are pretty amazing . One if my favorite specials is the Thursday pig roast on a platter for only 12.50! I also recommend their Bloody Mary , it's pretty legit . If your ever around the Mukwonago area this should be your go to place ! Another fun fact : it may or may not be haunted ....

What a delightful surprise Fork in the Road turned out to be! My honey and I were taking a weekend drive to visit Paradise Springs, and were looking for a place to have lunch. We saw Fork in the Road and immediately knew we had to visit-- it looked so cozy and had a fun name. Because it was a beautiful summer day, we sat out on the front porch, which was really nice. There were a few gnats buzzing around, but hey, we were outside... We started with two of their nice selection of Belgian beers, served in the appropriate glasses for each beer, and an order of the fried pickles. Wow! Some of the best pickles I've had, but a little on the salty side. (What do you expect?) Anyway, they are fresh, juicy, thick-cut spears, in vodka tempura batter. Served with your choice of sauces, we had chipotle ranch. They are served piping hot, so be careful! My beau and I each had a salad-- he enjoyed the beautifully presented Beet and Goat salad with tilapia and I had the Parmesan crusted chicken Caesar. Both were really good, and generous enough to leave us both satisfied. The owner made rounds to all the tables, but didn't linger too long, as some managers do. Generally, this was a really pleasant experience, and we look forward to visiting again!

Wow this place was awesome. I don't consider myself a foodie but I'm spoiled by some great restaurants in the Milwaukee area so the bar is usually set pretty high when I eat out. A friend and I met up here. The atmosphere was cozy/fresh with a little bit of a modern feel. The dinner I had was excellent (catfish) and I also had the loaded Bloody Mary for a treat. For apps we had the spinach artichoke dip which were served with the most perfectly fried, seasoned pita wedges. If you're driving through Mukwanago, give this place a shot.

Good stuff. They have some of the best fried chicken you will ever find, great salads, and great burgers.

  • Dan H.

The only bad thing I can say about this place is that they are not open for breakfast. Everything I've tried on this menu is out of this world! We went on a Saturday night and the place was jammed packed, we waited at the bar, had an old fashion (which was made to perfection) and waited for about 45 minutes. At first I was a little annoyed with all the people and the long wait but I would have waited twice as long. If you are looking for a place to go with some friends or a date night with your significant other - you will not be disappointed.

  • Raffi K.

Friday night was really busy, but worth the long wait. Fun environment with smiles all around. My wife & I ordered fish dishes and were quite pleased. Great salads as well. I would go back for another meal if I'm ever in that town again.

  • Judy T.

The food is always excellent. I particularly like the fried chicken dinner and the cheese curds for an appetizer. The only thing that has been a recurring problem is how slow service can get on busy nights. The way to avoid this seems to be to arrive at odd times.

  • Andrew B.

My family and I went here for a fish fry last night. The atmosphere is welcoming and was a pretty good sized crowd! The fish fry was very yummy and there clam chowder soup was good as well! We usually do not order desert with one meals but we make a exception when coming to Fork In The Road! Also I'd like to add how the manager, Denis, is very friendly and you can always find him helping others or checking on table to make sure everything is up to par. Overall the Fork In The road is a great restaurant and worth a visit anytime! Seems to be a Mukwonago hot spot!

Their service is incredible. Best I've gotten anywhere. Their food is always fresh and delicious. We go here every Friday! If you're going with a bigger group, I recommend reserving a table and if you want to go for dinner on Friday they always get really busy about 5pm, so go early!

My daughter and I visited a few weeks ago. We were greeting by a loud and kind of harsh man with a thick accent. I had to ask him a couple of times what he was saying...it sounded like he was yelling at me for something...I just walked in the door. I guess he was asking if we were together or separate.... He needs to work on his approach. It made our initial entry a bit uncomfortable. Thankfully our waitress was bubbly and sweet. With our special requests, she was on point, no mistakes. We tried the fried chicken which was good...nothing special but good enough. We also tried their mac and cheese which you add up to 3 ingredients to customize it to your tastes. That was neat and delicious...though the leftovers didn't warm up well (nobody's fault...just a tip). The atmosphere was comfortable but a bit noisy...which didn't bother me too much. If it weren't for the borderline rude man at the front and a slightly inattentive (we ran out of drinks....a no-no in the restaurant biz) but lovely waitress...I would have given it a 4 star. Don't get me wrong. We will be going back to try it again next week. Hopefully I can come back and change my rating :)

Excellent pepper burger, Greek salad, and Mack and cheese. We even guessed the chefs secret to Parmesan crusted poached eggs.

The service was prompt personable and fun, without even a hint of overbearing. Good is what one would expect in rural Wisconsin and wonderfully done. Fried pickles and cheese curds - amazing. Local and craft beverages. If you come in the fall get the pumpkin beer. Lovely. Complex.

This restaurant should receive 5 stars. Really. I am a fan though. Huge fan! Fork in the Road is a well-oiled machine operated by most of the Sophomore and Junior class of Mukwonago High School. The service was impeccable. Surprised? We added two last minute guests to our party , and they accommodated us. We gave them notice at 5:00 for our 8:00 reservations. Even though they were busting at the trusses with the amount of people inside, they had us at our table for 10 not even 10 minutes after we arrived. We had a drink ordered and one sip down when they called our name. That's timing. The rest of the evening was well-timed too, from the delivery of the fried pickle appetizer, to the side salads, soups, and cole slaws that preceded meals. Everything was timed like a symphony, perfectly delivered without overlap or error. The meals were just as impressive. There was a number of fried cod fish fries at the table (all-you-can-eat for $12 FYI), so I had the opportunity to try a piece. There was this beautiful crispy batter that was superior to all others I have tried. The batter wasn't greasy, and it did not entirely fall off with one bite. The potato pancakes were another fried delight. Even the cole slaw was tasty. The salmon on the cedar plank was a vision, a work of art and smelled wonderful. I did not get to steal a piece, but I know that would be an option on a future visit (which will happen). There was a star dish in front of each diner at the table. Mine was light but delicious. I had the Greco-Italian salad with two PARMESAN ENCRUSTED POACHED EGGS!!!!!!! I dreamed about those eggs. You have to experience them for yourself. Much like everything else I tasted yesterday evening, there was a delicate and passionate hand used in preparing each dish. I am certain they make an abundance of the fried cod and company (baked cod, perch, etc.), but there is care put in to what they are putting out. Find your way to the Fork, even though it may be a long road to get there. It is worth the gas and the commute time. I promise. They take good care of you from the minute you step in the door until the minute you leave.

Lunch on Wednesday 8/14, so impressed with the menu that I ordered lunch AND took home a salad. Fish tacos for lunch, Greco salad to go home and just amazing. I asked our waitress for permission to take the menu with me, so my husband could see why an excuse to go there was necessary. Black and white fries, simple, sure, but tasty and crisp. I was recommended the chipotle mayo for dipping....spot on! This is a gem, a must eat here, just mad it was a work day lunch, I gotta have one of those bloodys and a margarita.

So glad we used our trusty Yelp to lead us here. We ate lunch at the bar which had a nice atmosphere. The food: great hearty dense bread with a nice creamy chicken artichoke florentine soup, homemade chip dip featuring caramelized onions and buttery crushed pretzel nuggets coating my chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll. The bartender was friendly and knowledgable about beer, of which they have some nice selections.

Solid place to grab a bite. Came here for lunch and the place was pretty full, even still we were greeted and seated promptly. I tried a bowl of the baked onion soup, don't confuse this with French onion. I thought the soup was okay I sort of wish thy the bread they had used to support the cheese in the soup broth was more substantial because it was sort of weird in appearance to me, it seemed like it was simply a piece of lower quality white bread. I still ate it up though and may even order it again. Next I had the BEET salad. Totally a solid bet! Pros ably up there on my top five lists of best salads I have ever ordered for a main dish. A ton of beats accompanied with spinach and greens. The dollop of goat/yogurt was perfect for this salad. Place was totally affordable and it also looked like they had some excellent beverage options as far as local craft brews and ciders. The dining room was nice and clean but acoustically it was a little on the loud side. I would love to come back here and try this place for dinner.

It's sure a good thing I'm from Madison and not Mukwonago or I might never eat anything besides Fork in the Road's Mac and Cheese. My mom and I enjoyed lunch here on a Saturday, as she is a recent transplant to the town. (Thank goodness!). Our waitress was pleasant and attentive and our food arrived very quickly. We both had martinis, which were incredible. My Tiramisu tasted almost exactly like the dessert. The side salad was delicious. And the Macaroni... Well, let's just say I'm buying the ring and getting down on one knee for that cheesy goddess any day now. I will absolutely return.

  • Lucy H.

Fried chicken pretty good. Nice atmosphere, a bit noisy. Too many "up charges" such as changing soup, salad for coleslaw, all white or dark meat, and my personal favorite- an extra piece of corn bread. Oh and one more issue, the server asked if we would like more chicken (meal was "all you can eat") and my friend asked for one drum stick and was told she couldn't specify the piece. Disappointed - probably won't return

It's one of the best things going in the greater Waukesha area! They have the French farm house ale by Lakefront on tap, Rendezvous, plus several others including Spaten's Optimator. My wife and I shared the cheese curds and pulled ham sandwich with spicy beans and a wonderful mixed green side salad.

While it looks small from the parking lot, enter this old style supper club with full bar to enjoy a full course meal. Watch for the specials. Excellent prime rib on Saturdays

Met a colleague here for lunch and was greeted by not one, but a team of two servers. Before thoroughly looking at the menu, I mentioned to the server I was eating gluten free. She pointed out the gluten free Mac and cheese, burgers and sandwiches which could be served on a GF bun, and salads. She also explained any fried foods ordered would be cross contaminated since they don't have a separate fryer. I know this from reading up on GF, but never had a server mention it. I thought she was very conscientious and I appreciate that! Avoiding cross contamination is especially important for those with Celiac disease. Back to the Mac and Cheese. I settled on this since it isn't too often you see GF pasta on a menu. I added chicken, broccoli and mushrooms. It was delicious. It was also served with a house salad featured sugared walnuts and a lemon/mayo dressing. It was very good! The owner circulates and checks in with his customers as well. He teased me that I didn't finish my lunch and I told him it was so good I wanted to save some to take home.

I've been there once when my sister was in Wisconsin Lego league championship. Ts a shame that this place is in the middle of nowhere because it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I don't exactly remember what I got but there was a nice old man who was very attentive and nice. It took a little bit of time to get to or table but it was definitely worth the wait

Great place! The atmosphere is excellent. It can be loud in there, but I don't mind because it drowns out my kids random loud fits! Fantastic food. The Monday night Prime Steak sandwich is great.

This place makes me very happy. Appetizer: Had the fried cheese curds. Great texture, but I would say that it was a bit too salty for me. Considering the food that you are having here, you "should" minimize how much you are destroying your health. Entree: Got the custom Mac n Cheese with Bacon, Mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes. I would like to make the point that this tasted REALLY good. The individual components tasted REALLY good. HOWEVER, I would not get the sundried tomatoes again because the flavor does not compliment the cheese. Perhaps the spinach next time or something. Also, this cheese is RICH. I could not eat all of my meal it was that rich. Huzzah Wisconsin cheese.

If you haven't eaten here... Get in your car now. It was our first time for lunch - amazing! We started with black and Bleu tips. They were so tender and the Bleu stuffed peppers were delicate. I had the chicken cordon Bleu soup, and Mac & cheese my hubby had the beef brisket sandwich. Everything was an explosion of freshness and favors. Our server Jessica was sweet, professional and attentive. We couldn't have asked for more. This is a gem!! I can't wait to come back. So many awesome artisanal culinary choices.

Stumbled across this place looking for lunch before heading to Elegant Farmer. Doesn't look like a gourmet restaurant from the outside, but it sure tasted like one! We sat in the back patio, which is beautiful, and really enjoyed our meal. My boyfriend ordered the pepper burger, and the only complaint he had was there were too many onion straws for him to conceivably enjoy on top of a burger. I ordered the fish tacos, as I am gluten free. They were very good, maybe a little spicier than I was anticipating, but the guacamole really evened it out. The only suggestion I would have would be to cut the fish up into smaller pieces as it was kind of hard to eat with the fish pieces so large. The service was also great. Highly recommended!

  • Bob W.

Really well prepared food and personable waite staff. We read on Yelp about the fish tacos and mac-n-cheese and both were really excellent. We let our waiter select the mac-n-cheese additions and split a serving into 4 appetizers. Great selection of local craft brews and full bar. The place was jammed on Friday night but the food was well paced and we left feeling good about our visit

Met a girlfriend there on a Wednesday...WOW! It was PACKED! Took a little bit to get service initially (we ate at the bar) but everyone there was super busy and hustling so no biggie. Had the fish tacos...and I'm a complete fish taco snob...and they were DELISH!! Very surprising that this unassuming place is this busy and tasty! Good for date night or family night out. The Mac and Cheese is so good...wine and Mac and Cheese? Happy happy happy...

Went to dinner here with friends. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the owner is a hoot! We had a variety of foods and from the hand breaded chicken tenders to the house specialty Mac -n-cheese, everything was delicious and perfectly prepared! Loved the specialty drinks, the corn bread and just the atmosphere here! Will be back again and again!

smaller portions, higher side of pricing, lacking service level (slightly rude and not accommodating) ((sorry to have bothered you with my reservation)). Ambiance is kind of poor and drink prices unacceptable. Food was served hot and of fair quality. Wouldn't avoid in future if convenient but it is not on my regular visit list.

While driving through Mukwonago we stopped at this lovely restaurant and left not only surprised but very satisfied! Our server, Rebecca, was very friendly, uplifting, and her suggestions were spot on! We started with the stuffed cabbage soup which was her suggestion, and totally AMAZING! We also ordered their famous mac and cheese, and their Reuben sandwich to split; both of which were some of the best I've ever had. The mac and cheese was creamy, full of flavor and had the perfect cheese sauce/macaroni ratio. The Reuben was exactly how we like it, multiple LAYERS of sauerkraut, sauce and tender corned beef. This restaurant rocks! I will be coming back!!

Yummy yummy yummy. Everything is so good here. Their bread is so fresh and is heavenly with their fresh butter on it. Love the presentation of the big pretzel which comes with amazing beer cheese sauce. I had their beet and goat cheese salad. One of my favorite combos and it didn't dissapoint. Hubby created his own Mac and cheese with the many ingredients you can choose. It too was super yummy. My favorite restaurant now that I have moved to the area.

This place is great! Went there with a buddy after snowshoeing and had some drinks and food. Absolutely delicious; a lot of appealing items on the menu, I had the peppercorn burger which was great. Good selection of beer. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

I'm revising my initial take on this place based on recommendation by a friend. Twice now I have ordered off the menu and it was fabulous, the prime rib sandwich was amazing! Twice I have tried the all you can eat. My advice is to order off the menu. Good drinks, good atmosphere, great food.

I have eaten here twice and found the food to be good but the wait for the food and the service to be spotty. Your best bet is to order simple food and avoid more time consuming meals such as fried chicken.

We LOVE this place. It was an old hotel before it burned. It was rebuilt (only about 1/2 the size), and they have old pics up showing what it looked like before. There is a bar on one side, and a dining room on the other. My wife and I went there for a quick lunch, and decided we needed to try it for dinner. My wife had the Mac and Cheese. It' was very rich and creamy. I had the prime rib. It was tender, and tasty. But what you really need to try is the Champagne Chicken soup. It was about the best soup I've eaten. I've been here twice, and I'll definitely go again!

Mac. And. Cheese. I cannot say enough good things about it. We even tried to bribe our server for the recipe, and no luck. It's creamy, cheesy, savory, velvety, like no other I've ever had. I love how you can add your own ingredients, but honestly, I love it straight up. It's just that good. The appetizers are wonderful, and the choice of homemade dipping sauces are unique and delicious. The flatbreads are great. The service is great. The drinks are great. We have a lake house in Delavan and make the 30 minute trip just for the food. Keep up the good work guys.

I did a Yelp search for something different and this place pops up. I check out the menu and just about everything sounded tasty. Road Trip! (ok, it's not that far for me) First, this place has character and history and it's all good! From the moment I opened the door to the final goodbye, I felt like I was at a friend's house who knows how to be a gracious host. Absolutely everyone was pleasant and accommodating. Scanning the menu, I read that there really is no choice if you are a first-timer here--you must get the mac and cheese. So, mac and cheese it is, but only after a healthy dose of vodka tempura battered cheese curds. Wow, those things are pure bliss. Along with mac comes soup or salad, and I chose a daily special of split pea and ham. I can't tell why it's so good, but I think it has something to do with their own pulled ham that they use that rockets this soup past the green goop I've tasted at a hundred different places. Mac and Cheese: Drum roll please . . . Fantastic! Everything you expect exceptional mac and cheese to have: cheesy goodness; appropriate noodles that hold all of that goodness; and the ability to customize it with a wagon load of add-ons (mine had pulled ham, roasted red pepper and andouille sausage) The only minor squabble I have is with the andouille sausage. It lacked the kick I was expecting that typically comes from this sausage. In the end, I'll need to go back and try the 6 or 7 other dishes that struck me as must have . . . that's if I don't get the mac and cheese again!

Ohemgee, people. This place is fantastic. Was out in East Troy (a rarity) and decided to stop here with a friend on the way back to Milwaukee. Had heard (and read, of course, dear Yelpers) plenty of good things. Good things is an understatement! My friend and I had a difficult time making choices from this robust and tempting menu. We landed on a plan to go "sharesies." This included soup for me (bacon corn chowder, HOLLA!) and salad for my girl. We then shared a smoked brisket sandwich and an order of build your own mac and cheese. All was of very high quality and uber delish. Of additional note, our cutie patootie server had the thoughtfulness and foresight to split our sharesies on separate plates so we did not have to do the dirty work ourselves. After all of this, quite out of character, we split a dessert. But not just any old dessert. We had a Salted Caramel Maple Waffle with Strawberry Compote thingamabobber that was TO DIE FOR. It is what I want for my last meal just before I am executed, if I should ever be subjected to the death penalty. Seriously. I have a new love for maple. I have a new love for dessert. I think I have a new love for this restaurant. Road trip to Mukwonago, anyone?

This place is GREAT! I went here with my friend for a random catch up dinner and was blown away by the high class dishes and presentation. I had the mashed potatoes and meatloaf and had enough for seconds at home the next day. The presentation was stylish and the food was well seasoned. I've been trying to convince my boyfriend to take me there since I got home that evening.

Went here a few weeks ago with friends. The food was great, especially the fish and the custom mac & cheese. Not to mention the most decadent waffle dessert (yum!). Beyond the great food, the service was outstanding. So friendly and very attentive.

I've eaten here half a dozen times since moving to Mukwonago and absolutely love this place. Every single meal I have gotten is fantastic and the service is very good. You'll see the owner out there every night talking to his patrons, many of which he knows personally. The ambiance is great as well.

Thank God for Fork in the Road! My family and I were driving from Northern Wisconsin back to Illinois, and it was clear everyone was eager for a break from driving and some lunch. The last thing I wanted was fast food, but we stumbled upon Fork in the Road and were pleasantly surprised. Wonderfully homemade items on the menu with reasonable prices. The decor was adorable and has been modernized. The server was personable, attentive, and was knowledgable about the establishment. The Mac n cheese was awesome! My son who is a picky-eater literally devoured it. I have never seen him do that before at restaurants. Highly recommend it!!

Met up with a friend there and we ate at the bar. I'd never been, but she said she was looking for an excuse to come back here. Now I know why. Wow. I would give it six stars based on the food alone. It. Was. Amazing. I had the Knife & Fork Club (juicy chicken breast, bacon, the perfect amount of avocado and apricot mayo -- topped with lettuce, tomato and red onion ... tasty tasty), and their spicy black beans as a side. They've got a variety of yummy-sounding sides to go along with any of their sandwiches (slaw, pasta salad, standard fry, etc.). They also have some stellar sauces for sandwich or fry dipping. I tried the lime habenero, which was delish. Friend got her go-to pretzel-crusted chicken. It looked tasty, but I didn't try it. The bartender/server was very nice, and the food came out fast. If I'm ever in that neck of the woods, this will be my first stop.

This is one of my favorite places of all time. The chicken pesto sandwich is literally the best sandwich I've ever had. The drinks are great. The charm of the owner/manager greeting us warmly each visit is comforting. The outdoor space in back during the summer is a perfect place to relax with an appetizer and friends. Great food, gets busy but it's a must-visit restaurant.

OMG!!! What a little jewel in Mukwonago!! We were passing through and decided to stop for lunch today. The staff and service was excellent! They made you feel very welcomed. Our waitress Lori was outstanding! She KNEW everything on the menu. I get so upset when I a waitress says, "I'll have to check". Lori KNEW! We sat on the back patio, which was great! We both had the Friday fish fry along with side salads. We expected the usual lettuce and cucumber - but we were surprised with lovely mixed greens, tomatos, red onion and the dressings were terrific! The crustini of bread that came with the salad was to die for! Our fish was wonderful as well. My husband ordered the perch and potato pancakes. I had the cod and fries. Both came with cole slaw and rye bread that was fantastic! I tried hubby's potato pancakes and had wished I had ordered them! They were the best I have had EVER! We were completely satisfied and have EVERY intention of returning. If you've never been there, give it a try. You will absolutely fall in love with it!

Pretty much the best restaurant in the area. The service was wonderful, the food was mouthwatering. Thanks to our wonderful waitress everyone was well watered, liquored, wined and the glasses were half full all evening. Not an easy task when you have a group of ten hungry, thirsty Wisconsinites. I've enjoyed their special Ahi Tuna salad and their Grilled Rachel, a turkey's take on a classic Ruben. Totally delicious. FYI, bring your designated driver because the martini's are too good to just have one.

Our group of 10 recently dined here and everything was fantastic. I never would have expected a menu quite as diverse and broad as this. Several people in my group are food and wine snobs and sent their wine and food back to test the waitress (to my embarrassment) but our waitress handled it well. Interesting place - apparently building was previously a hotel dating to the turn of the century and has been a restaurant for quite some time.

I had a miserable headache yesterday so we went out for a ride. No destination in mind, just fresh air to clear my head. We stumbled into Mukwanago. I was hungry at this point, it was a little after 7pm. Let's try this place, looks nice enough and there are quite a few cars (always a decent sign). WOW! I had the parmesan crusted tilapia, my husband had the flat bread muffaletta. We also had cheese curds for appetizer and my fish came with soup, French onion. My fish was cooked to perfection, my husband loved his flatbread. The cheese curds were done in a tempura batter so they were lighter than normal. I will absolutely go back. The price was terrific, $40 for dinner with appetizer & soup! That works great in my book! Next time it will be an intentional trip to Mukwonago.

Consistently yummy. As a family we go there about 3-4 times a month and its always good! Great service and Dennis is great:)

First time trying fried curds and they were yummy. I paired it with chipotle ranch dressing that was homemade and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. I recommend the fried goat cheese salad. The spinach was topped cranberries, sliced apples, and pears. The goat cheese melted when spilt open . Great atmosphere and the waitress was adorable.

Family and friends out picking apples near Mukwonago and we were hungry. So we fire up Yelp.com on the iPhone and find this place nearby. Mukwonago is a cute enough town and so we slip in with four kids and six adults on a Saturday afternoon. We soon have our seats and menus and all of the adults are looking at each other and are stumped. Sooo many great looking choices and prices to match. Didn't know it when we walked in, however, we'd met the owner Dennis at the door and his punchy sense of humor shows on the menu. Better yet, the selection is followed by quality. Everybody had great meals, from homemade mac n' cheese, the blue cheese chips (think nachos) homemade french onion soup, and his own homemade aoli for the fries. Mine came with a habenero-lime...he even shared his recipe....how often does that happen? In fact he offered it and we were again so happily surprised. Good thing our friends have a home near this place, it will become a regular place in the near future. One of the nicest surprises we've had in restaurants in recent memory.

We don't go here enough! Every time we have had a nice dinner or lunch here, it has been excellent - the server, food, and atmosphere - all of it. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant.

Excellent food, good variety and seasonal changes. Great staff, very friendly. It's an attractive interior space with outdoor seating when the weather is nice, and the whole atmosphere is pleasing. It's become my go-to place in town when visitors come over, because everyone can find something they like.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. I've eaten there a several times and have sampled many menu items and haven't had a bad dish yet. The only downside is that the food a little on the higher end of price scale, but worth it for a night out once in a while.

Soothing soups, refreshing salads, work for my husband and me. He loves the roast pork, beef brisket and meatloaf with all the right accoutrements. The pork is served with mashed potatoes and roasted corn on the cob, the meat loaf is toppped with fried onion strings, the salads are served with a generous side of crusty bread. No detail is too small and no details are missed. We cannot say enough good things about Fork In The Road. The service is great, the drinks are as well done as the food...and they even have etch-a- sketches to keep the kiddies happy. While travlling through Wisconsin, this is one of our favorite stops. My husband describes his experience as "Food Heaven!"

The dishes are full of great flavors and include fresh ideas. The house salad is phenom! Mac & Cheese...you've got to be kidding this is a must try meal. The Filet will melt away as you savor the taste.

Been here 2x. Food is decent. Both times it was an hour waitt from when we ordered to getting food. The last time we tried to speed things up by eating at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Didnt work. Another patron must have had the same experience as they were complaining to the hostess and another staff member about excessive waiting time for food. Worse was when the dissatisfied patron left, the hostess was mocking and ripping on the person along with other staff members. We won't be back.

We decided to try this restaurant due to the positive reviews, but unfortunately we were disappointed. The prime rib was overpriced and very bland, the chicken Caesar salad was a lot of green with little chicken and almost no dressing, the Mac and cheese was tasty but dry, and the chicken sandwich was just okay. The high point was the burger which was piled high with onion straws, and had a nice sauce. Also, they sent a regular margarita when we ordered a virgin. It's a good thing that it didn't go to the teen who was getting driving experience, as she may not have known the difference. Overall, the food was average for an above average price.

We were on vacation visiting the in-laws nearby when we decided to eat here based on the reviews and were not disappointed. It was freezing outside so we all got soup to warm up and all of them were good. I had the French Onion and it was one of the best I've ever had. Everyone was blown away by their food. I had the Rochester burger and immediately put it up there with one of the best I've ever had. It had a nice kick to it from the jalapenos and there was a sauce on it which was very tasty, but the block cheese which melted and oozed out from every bite made this burger a tier above any other I've ever had. I was very sad I didn't have time to come back and try some other menu items but I'll be back in the summer!

Great food and friendly service. We sat for two and a half hours or so catching up with friends and the waitress kept refilling drinks but let us staty and enjoy our conversation. I will go back, next time I am in the area.

A warm smile and service you will get here along with reasonable prices! I had the meatloaf but wasn't up the marinara on top of it along with too many salty onion rings on top. The mashed potatoes were great! The Meatloaf itself was ok. The other company had the prime rib, chicken sandwich and tilapia. I had a bite I all three and they were all great! I'd come back but try something different!

Yum Yum YUM! We found this place because my dear husband was searching for gluten free in the area. This place popped up as having gluten free bread(WARNING: it's a no gluten bread, but doesn't come from a certified GF bakery). So we drove the half hour from Lake Geneva to try it out. SO GLAD WE DID! Great atmosphere, food was outstanding, massive martini menu(at least 50). He had the meatloaf, which came stuffed with 3 cheeses(it's Wisconsin after all), on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes, with fried onion strings on top. Good thing our room had a fridge because he was eating it for 2 days! I got a chicken sandwich on the no gluten bread. Chicken was moist & flavorful. We also shared the blue cheese chips...so good! Perfect blend of blue cheese & bacon & onion & potato flavor, but nothing was kick you in the face overwhelming. All in all a great experience, we WILL be back!

WOW. We were on our way home from dropping our son off at Alpine Valley to ski and stopped here on the Yelp recommendation. What a great place. The menu has some great variety and I can't wait to go back and try something else. The owner is a very friendly guy and also very visible thru out the restaurant, also has a great sense of humor. We were pleased to see the eco friendly container they gave us for our leftovers-no styrofoam. We're taking some friend back soon.

Charming place with Great Food. Went with 2 others this past Saturday and albeit the place can be VERY VERY Noisy (probably one of the noisiest restaurants I have been in) but it has to be difficult to dampen the noise in an entirely wood 100 yr. old building. That being said - we WILL DEFINITLEY COME BACK. I had Salmon Sandwich (Large piece of perfectly chared & juicy salmon) with cucumbers (lightly marinated) - making it a perfect Summer Nummy! My 2 other compadres enjoyed the to-die for mac n cheese. Oh and Fried Cheese Curds - Very Good (a little too salty, but still full of home-mady goodness) --- I cannot wait to come back -- I have my eye on their Smoked Ham Sammich (and I miiight have to get fried pickles ;) ) **UPDATE: the only 'fork in the road' is the Meatloaf -- No Flavor save for the onion straws. It comes with dry flavorless mashed potatoes and a very simple chunky tomato that added nothing -- too bad too as it Looks Heavenly, but ended up in the garbage for me & my boyfriend. EVERYTHING else including the homemade soups are amazing --- so Just STEER CLEAR OF THE MEATLOAF ;)

The filet mignon is tasty. The prime rib is very good. Additionally, the dining experience is excellent because Dennis (the owner) likes people and it shows. He cares. His employees are very service oriented. They all make you feel welcome and take good care of you. Now... Where does that come from? At or from the top. The owner. He believes in treating people well. Therefore, the customers prosper. Simple concept. Great work ethic. But many businesses don't 'get it'. These people do. I highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are reasonable as well. I'll keep going back as long as this is the case. I like talking with their people as well. Very comfortable and approachable.

Fork in the Road is an absolute gem. The food, the service, the setting are all excellent! I recently had my baby shower in one of their separate rooms and everything was perfect. The owner, Dennis Stevens, is the consummate host. I have gluten and dairy allergies and he was so caring and sensitive - he arranged the ideal menu that was perfect for my guests and my allergies. It is nearly impossibe to find guten and dairy free strawberry shortcake and lo and behold . . . he made it happen. Dennis and his staff helped make my baby shower one of the most special days and I am forever grateful. If you want a great meal and a great dining experience do not hesitate to try Fork in the Road.

Excellent food and friendly service. Like the fact that it isn't a chain restaurant and that it's doing very well. Will definitely go back.

So lets say you're in Wisconsin driving through our cities with their hard to pronounce names - and you have a craving for reasonably priced, exceptionally made home cooking - the catch is you have 3 kids in tow. Where to go? I highly recommend Fork in the Road in Mukwonago. Its easy to drive right by due to its unassuming exterior - but it's worth the drive and the search. Don't be fooled by the bar-type exterior, inside is a nicely decorated, clean, warm and friendly place to grab a bite. We've seen all ages here - and all receive the same friendly and prompt service. The owners will stop by tables to ask how everyone is - kids are lucky enough to be informed of upcoming special ice cream flavors (a guarantee to have them return). The wine list is extensive as well as the mixed drink menu. If you don't see your poison on the menu - ask - there's a bar attached as well - they can mix it up for you. If you're an iced tea drinker, you'll appreciate the option of fresh brewed or bottled. Appetizers are tasty - we've found the mozzarella marinara to be a family favorite - large squares of mozzarella cheese breaded and fried served with a delicious marinara sauce. The main menu has soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads and warm the tummy entrees. The french onion soup in a crock with the ooey gooey melted cheese is well made. They offer a spinach and beet with goat cheese salad that is drizzled with a maple mustard vinaigrette - you can add chicken or salmon or tilapia to it - I've had it with salmon and with tilapia - both were good. The salads are generous enough to be classified as main courses. The ribs are good, fall off the bone type. Sauce isn't overly sweet. The root beer pulled pork sandwich is incredible, as are their burgers. There is a kids menu that is very reasonable. It offers the usual suspects, chicken fingers, corn dog, grilled cheese, etc. The french fries are good but the home made potato chips are not to be missed. The burgers come with a deep fried pickle spear, I think some of the sandwiches do also. We've been to Fork in the Road many times - its our "go-to" place. Consistently good food and service - always a warm welcome. It's like going to a good friend's house for dinner - - a good friend that is an excellent cook and host. A must to try if you are in the area.

I have eaten here for lunch multiple times. The service is friendly and quick. The food has always been superior. The only negative would be the backed French onion soup. That was disappointing but everything else has been excellent

Great food, service, and atmosphere. I recently visited this restaurant for the first time a couple of months ago and was surprised at the rather sophisticated (and lovely) decor at a restaurant in Mukwonago. But, have no worries, the service is super-friendly. With the excellent food quality, you'd expect to pay more, but prices are very good (even less than other comparable restaurants in the area that don't match Fork in the Road's food quality).

After a morning of slush skiing at Alpine Valley, we were in search of a good lunch spot and used Yelp to direct us to Mukwonago, WI and Fork in The Road restaurant. We had a fabulous lunch! The owner stopped by to give our kids Etch-a-Sketch to play with while we waited for our food. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. My husband had the french onion soup straight out of Julia Child French Cooking and I had a delicious and fresh Italian Wedding soup bursting with flavor. Our kids had homemade chicken nuggets and a well cooked grilled cheese. My husband had the ham and Gruyere sandwich on the specials menu with the homemade chips. The sandwich was gooey, rich and delicious and the crispy chips came with a flavorful homemade french onion dip. I had the Roasted One sandwich with Dijon marinated chopped chicken, spinach, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella - super yummy! The menu also featured a great select of beers, cocktails and adult shakes. All in all, a great surprise in a small off the beaten path town in Wisconsin!
