My husband and I were among Jan and Ron's first customers and are still fans. I am new to yelp, so just catching up on the reviews. A big suggestion for eating here: if you are an adventurous diner, forgo the menu and ask your server to tell Jan to make you whatever she thinks is best that day. You might even suggest that she fix you a "Babette and John" meal. We never order off the menu, and have had a mediocre meal only once - when Jan was in Thailand and there was a substitute cook. We have even persuaded other locals to try it again with us, if they are willing to forgo the menu, and they have been astonished at the difference. Neither Jan nor Ron are terribly proficient in English, so be patient, trust them to choose a great dinner for your party and enjoy a wonderful Thai experience. One person I sent there with these instructions was a gentleman who studied coking in Thailand and he reported back that it was the best Thai meal he had ever eaten. And one exception to the no menu rule would be the stuffed chicken wings....one of best dishes ever.

A Thai friend in Seattle recommended us to go to this restuarant. On the plus side, the restaurant had the best fired-pan Washington mussels I have ever tasted. However, the other dishes were disappointed. The soup was too tasteless while the garlic-fried pork was too salty. The service was good but the price was too high.

I ate lunch there a few days ago, looking foward to having a choice of Thai for lunch. The place is nicely furnished, but the service needs improvement. Though the wait person was friendly, he seemed more family than a waiter. He left a few people waiting for a long time to order, and walked by me with a water pitcher when my glass was empty. Not terrible, but not great either. For starters, I had the spring rolls (non-fried) which were good, but not exceptional. The dipping sauce was more sweet and salty, not at all like the Vietnamese version, but I did enjoy it. I also ordered Tom Yum soup, but the wait person mistakenly brought me Tom Kha, I took a few sips before I realized, and it was okay, but a bit heavy on the coconut milk. He quickly fixed this and the Tom Yum was good, though the portion was fairly small. I also ordered Pad See-iew noodles to go. When I ate them later I was disappointed: the portion was tiny and they only included maybe four small pieces of calamari. Overall, this place has promise, but they are not there yet. They need to improve service and be more consistent with their portions and preparation. Unfortunately, this type of improvement doesn't often happen in family operations. I'm willing to give it another go, so I may be proved wrong.

My husband and I went to Whidbey Island for a weeknight getaway and had a nice dinner at the Cove. The hospitality was great and not rushed, the food was well cooked. We had the Fried Calamari (fried perfectly), Phad Thai with chicken, and Green Curry with beef, and Jasmine Rice on the side, they were out of brown rice, which they need to have because a lot of people have to watch their carb intake. Otherwise it was a great experience and we recommend the Cove!

This place is AWESOME. We ate there tonight and enjoyed just about every bite. I say "just about" because the cup of soup that comes with the entree wasn't anything to write home about (though it wasn't bad.) However, the curry dish, the cashew chicken and the chicken satay appetizer were absolutely fabulous. Everything was fresh, the portions were large and the sauces were light (ie no msg). Biggest surprise? The complementary tapioca with coconut milk for dessert. I am picky about cleanliness, freshness and flavor, and The Cove passed all with flying colors. If you like Thai food don't miss this place if you're on Whidbey island. Regardless of what town you're staying in, it's worth the drive. TIP: I am a spice wimp and the "two-pepper" dishes were mild enough for me (I tasted my husband's). In other words, if you like it hot, choose the "Yabba Dabba Do" spice level.

Have been to this restaurant several times now and still find the food consistently good. Lots of choices on the menu, including some great deserts like the brown sticky rice. Owners are authentic and provide great customer service. I love Mom and Pop places and this couple does a wonderful job on everything. Nice addition to the other food choices in town.

The food is good, some not as spicy as im used to, but still tasty. and the service is great! Very sweet man who runs the place and he certainly loves what he does. The atmosphere is very calming and comfortable. The dish I really liked was the Golden Catfish, very flavorful.

Genuine Thai hospitality with good food. This is a relatively new addition (spring '08) to Coupeville's limited food scene, but a welcome one. Having been to Thailand and knowing something of Thai culture, these people are exemplary examples of the best of Thai culture. The restaurant is in a historic Victorian that at one time hosted a bed & breakfast. It is a very cute and comfortable setting for lunch. The food is certainly passable- well prepared, served hot and good sized portions, but a little on the bland side. I order all 4 stars (Yabadaba Doo!), and it's really just starting to get interesting, but the whole package- service, setting and what is generally available on Whidbey Island, makes this a place to note for locals and tourists. I am frequently surprised by the little "extras" the chef brings out like a complimentary cup of soup while you wait for your takeout order, or complimentary dessert of warm coconut milk with taro pearls and sweet rice noodles. You can get food to go, but it's such a nice place to relax, you should take the time to sip some Jasmine tea and enjoy the company of your friends or family while having some decent Thai food.

If the review is solely on the quality of the food it would be 5 stars. Fantastic flavors, clean, fresh and authentic. Wish the service and decor was better. Happy to have such tasty thai in our small town.

The food was good, yet I was surprised the rice was not served with the food. I got my order to go, and had to make rice when I got home. I would eat here again since it convenient to my location.

The owners are super friendly, and accommodating. The food is good, really good. It's a shame that the previous restaurant (the cove) had poor reviews that are being shown with pra nakorn. We've been to pra nakorn many times over the past year without a single bad experience. My favorite is the green curry, it's delicious.

The food here is great. We order quite frequently and it is comparable to other good Thai places, way better than average. We have not dined in yet so I can't comment on service, only the food. Also, the staff is nice.

Place was empty when we arrived and filled up as we were there. Food was average and mine had very little taste even after I added more spice.

The food is consistently delicious here - flavorful, beautifully prepared, and authentic! The restaurant is located in charming old home with wooden-creaky floors, and both the interior and exterior are painted in cheerful bright colors. The overall effect is quite charming. The menu offers plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options.
