The Woods Coffee Menu

Great location overlooking the water. Seems to be the neighborhood stop for socializing and working. Near the kids' and dogs' parks so lots of cute puppies and kids milling around. Got a turkey croissant sandwich oozing with cheese and guac with meaty bacon and turkey. Warmed up. Yum! The Americano with steamed breve was good. Hubby also enjoyed his caramel macchiato. Lots of seating options - comfy chairs by the fireplace, upstairs tables and bench seating and outside seats with a view. Service was friendly, the main ingredient to a satisfying experience! Glad we stopped off here.

Fantastic coffee shop located at Boulevard Park. The coffee was fantastic- full of flavor, served at the right temperature and at a competitive price. The breakfast sandwich was served a bit hot at first but once it cooled down it was a wonderful treat. The service was personable, friendly and it was clear the staff enjoyed their job. The location was clean and has a perfect location for meeting others. A wonderful coffee shop I hope to return to again.

This is hands down the best coffee shop I've ever been to. It has all the essentials and more! Amazing coffee, great atmosphere, next to boulevard park AND sits right on the water for the best view! Whenever I visit family in this area, I'm sure to make this one of my destinations.

Great coffee, great views and gluten free pastry options. It's not too often that this kitty cat wonders South of the Border, but when I do, I personally seek out this cafe. They also have dairy free options like Soy and Almond milk Lattes and Cappuchinos yum! However on a beautiful Saturday afternoon this place can get very busy, even with the two windows. One inside and one outside. This place never disappoints, with the rustic log cabin frame inside and out, this place is becoming my favorite coffee place, south of the border.

My favorite coffee shop in the county. Great staff and a beautiful view. I also appreciate the gluten free pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Only negatives are prices are a bit on the high side, and this location is always busy so it is hard to find a place to sit with friends.

Probably the best view from any coffee shop in Bellingham, located at Boulevard Park. They have free internet and good coffee so that makes for a good place to meet when you need internet access. If it wasn't for its location, this would just be your average coffee shop, but the location makes it. There is more seating inside than it looks like, there is an upstairs area, and when the weather permits you can have your coffee outdoors. Friendly staff and good coffee makes this in my opinion a great place to stop.

How I heard of this place: My sister, Mojgan. When Woods first opened its Boulevard Park doors, I'm convinced that Mojgan was among its first customers. While visiting our parents in Bellingham, she discovered, and couldn't stop raving about this perfect coffee shop; a cafe in the middle of Boulevard Park, overlooking Bellingham Bay and serving delicious java! I have marked this particular Woods Coffee (one of ten locations in Whatcom County) as a place to venture often. Type of cuisine: Cafe fare - coffees, teas, blended, iced and hot beverages. Tasty treats from sandwiches to scones and muffins. Pastries, gluten free as well as the real stuff. Ambiance: Cozy, comfortable, homey. The Boulevard Park location has high ceilings with loft seating upstairs for those wishing to be out of the way of the leather sofas and bustling crowds placing orders. Outdoor seating just ten feet away from the bay can be enjoyed in the summer and in the winter near the double-sided fireplace. Rustic feel with a modern vibe. What I ordered: On my most recent visits, after walking in the sun and heat of a beautiful Bellingham summer with family, I enjoyed the Avalanche ($4.50) - a blended concoction of espresso (double decaf ristretto for me), white chocolate, vanilla ice cream, caramel and coconut. The 16-ounce size is deemed the Cedar. I also sampled a gluten free brownie ($4), which was creamy, soft, moist and fudgey, though still had the lingering grittiness of tapioca flour. My sister enjoyed an iced Americano ($3). On a subsequent visit just two days later, our group had the following: two Avalanches, two mocha shakes ($4.50) - with espresso, chocolate and ice cream, one large, iced Americano with cream and whipped cream, and an iced tea with lemonade (unsweetened). What I loved: The Avalanche was the perfect frozen beverage for a hot afternoon sample of sweet and caffeinated deliciousness! The 16-ounce beverages were downed by everyone in record time and happily talked about for hours afterward! Why I loved it: The environment, the view, the proximity to a walking path, frisbee players and a playground make this the ideal spot for coming to people watch, to study, enjoy conversations with friends, or share a romantic day out with your sweetie. It's the best thing that could have come from an abandoned pottery studio in the midst of Boulevard Park. Cost: Average ($3-$5 for coffee beverages)

(4/15/2015) Stopped in for a quick caffeine boost after a day of sightseeing (with more to come). Looked only room enough for one barrsta behind the counter. While not quick, it certainly was very good coffee. Had a latte, was rich, roast was well-balanced (and they do it locally), milk was whole. Prices touch higher than your average Starbucks. Place was very clean and had plenty of seating.

Am I the only reviewer who sees a problem with a coffee house based in Lynden rapidly spreading in our little hamlet of Bellingham? I for one don't feel we need another Starbucks model of coffee. Chain coffee like woods takes business away from our smaller more unique coffee houses. Between The Woods and Faithlife Bellingham is in danger of becoming...well...I don't even want to imagine. Hamsters unite! If you want a coffee house experience visit a truly Bellingham based coffee house.

Can't beat the setting or the view. Super friendly staff in a quaint lodge building in the middle of a park on the edge of the bay make this place one of my favorite coffee stops ever. Great conference room for meetings too

I'm not a big coffee drinker, so while my mom insists on having Woods Coffee every time she's in Bellingham, I can't say I'm on the same page. However, their Holiday Spice Tea Latte is off the hook! Granted, I can't say I've tried many holiday spice tea lattes (not every coffee shop offers one, and if they did, it wouldn't be under the same name), but it's very holiday-y and it's not overwhelmingly creamy and sweet, the way most seasonal tea lattes are (I'm looking at you, Starbucks). In addition to all of that tastiness, you can't beat the location! Grab a nice hot drink, and walk out along the boardwalk. I'm sure it's even more beautiful in the summer.

The location is amazing. The coffee is solid. Pastries delicious. But the building acoustics are atrocious. Trying to work or study here is an exercise in distraction. But as a spot to have a coffee and visit with friends it's great.

This location gets 4 stars because it's BEAUTIFUL, but most get 3. Pros? -Free WIFI -Try their caramel apple cider on a cold night. Sounds gross, but it's delish - Their ice brew coffee/ americanos are pretty dang good and inexpensive -Gorgeous location -Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor Cons? -No bathroom inside, must use the public bathroom for the park which is always gross -Just like most coffee chains, it's overpriced for food and most drinks

Terrible coffee. Rude barista. I had asked for a macchiato and the snarky girl behind the counter yelled at me that it wasn't Starbucks. If she had half a brain, she would know that a macchiato is a common drink and NOT a trademark of Starbucks.

Location Location Location. When you come to Bellingham you should go to Fairhaven and on your way there you should stop at Boulivard. You really really should. It's located on the water in Bellingham Bay in a remodeled building that used to belong to the College's Art Department I think. Now? It's a mini homey log cabin with two levels and a private meeting room you can rent. It's always pretty busy, so there is an outside window you can order at and walk the pathway admiring the Puget Sound. If you're lucky enough to snag a comfy seat upstairs near the window it's a mini heaven. Free Wifi and oooh the scones. Brilliant move Woods, and I visit each time I'm in town.

I'm not a coffee drinker but for location this spot is awesome! Blends right in with Boulevard Park. It's a small little cottage and usually gets busy during sunny days. It's a nice place to come to read a book or to do some studying. Also, since this location faces the water, it's nice to come have a relaxing time away from our daily lives that can be filled with stress and electronics!

This is still my favorite coffee shop in Bellingham! Just went to enjoy an Americano in the morning and was reminded what a beautiful location this is in. The espresso was well done and bran muffin delicious.

Location, location, location. It's got it. 5 star view + great park = popular. Coffee drinks are decent, but not spectacular. Food offerings are a bit so so. Both limited selection and quality. Decor is nice. Layout / use of space is quite good. The balcony works well. I think there is a meeting room available. Outside tables as well. Pretty sure it has wifi. In all honesty, I usually find it WAY too busy for me. If I'm with someone who needs a coffee and/or a nice spot to sit, it works out. Watching the college kid mating rituals can be amusing if you don't get a bay view seat. The adjacent restrooms are a bit of a con, but busy public ones tend to be that way.

  • A S.

Coffee is so-so (too weak IMO) but the people are friendly and the location can't be beat. Free brewed coffee refills. Really wish they had bathrooms inside the cafe area - the ones that are available are outside and are bare-bones, rest area "steel toilet" style - also they're typically filthy and gross. It's a convenient place to stop for a rest during a walk along the water or to warm up in during a cold, blustery day.

This coffee house has got to be the most ADORABLE coffee house I have ever seen! I recently moved to Bellingham a few weeks ago and wanted some coffee after my first night at my new place. After googling what was closest to me, I found that this coffee shop was right down the street! How awesome! Upon driving there, I realized I was driving into Boulevard Park... And I thought, am I going the right way? Sure enough, at the bottom of the hill, was what looked like a cabin from afar lined with white Christmas lights. It was so stunning to see and I was so surprised that this little coffee house existed down here. The view surrounding this place is to die for! And the inside most definitely resembled a cabin with a nice cozy fireplace inside. All I could think to myself was, I either need to work here or just spend all my time here because this has got to be the cutest coffee shop I've ever been in and it most certainly is. The Woods Coffee Shop at Boulevard Park will be the first place I take all of my friends who come to visit!

Beautiful coffee shop right on Bellingham Bay. If you're a Western student, this place is a must-go if you're looking for a change of scenery while studying. They have a great little loft space that's quiet and perfect for studying or working on group projects, which I did on several occasions. It's also nice to be able to grab a drink and take a walk down the boulevard. Their drinks are very delicious and they have a lot of unique choices on the menu. I'm partial to their blended drinks... give the Avalanche (espresso, ice cream, white chocolate, caramel, and coconut) or Mudslide ( espresso, ice cream, white chocolate, caramel & coconut, dark chocolate, and toasted marshmallow) a try! Their traditional hot drinks, including the chai latte, are great as well. Service is usually fast and friendly. Only reason for docking a star is their drinks are a tad on the pricey side, but that never deterred me from splurging every so often. Highly recommend The Woods Coffee in Boulevard Park!

I went to this coffee shop while at Western Washington University for family weekend. Walking into this coffee shop, I truly felt a small town feel with locals relaxing, students hitting the books and the employees helping each customer that came in. One of our coffees spilled (We knocked it over) moments after we received it and they replaced it for free, cleaned up our awful mess and said with a nice smile, no problem, these things happen to all of us. Loved the customer service and the coffee was great.

Beautiful setting. okay coffee. Great gluten free scones. I will not ever go back since I have read and heard about the anti LBGT agenda of the owner. Thumbs down.

It's so fuckin cozy in there I could fall asleep! I have once. Everything is very neat and clean and made of wood or really cushy. Their holiday peppermint cookies were so delicious. Even if you're not a coffee fan you'll enjoy their cider, cocoa, and baked goods. They have wifi for I think about 2 hours. Lots of people come there to work quietly, so don't bring your screaming newborn, sorry.

I am a big fan of the brew at any of the Woods' many locations but this one definitely holds the title of most scenic. Nestled in it's park setting, it offers you some pretty darn impressive views of the water/sunsets. Can be a little tricky to find parking on nice warm days since everyone else is there to check out the great views too!

  • Doug M.

Awesome location and great view! I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning with a newspaper and coffee overlooking Bellingham Bay. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Brew was excellent quality and store had a relaxed vibe. Just a short walk up the coastal path from Chrysalis Inn.

Location is nice and it was kind of slow service but then again it was really busy as well. I personally don't drink coffee really but I did have a hot chocolate since it was a cold day. It was so-so but I liked Dennys better. I think they use hershey syrup like most places.

There is no doubt that this company has taken off over the past couple years since they are sprouting up like Starbucks. And I will give allot of props to the Boulevard location since it reminds me of a nice comfy cabin. The coffee is... Well coffee. I get this creepy children of the corn/evangelical christian vibe from the staff though. Also there is a strange kindness that seems almost forcefully regurgitated on you. And I don't care if you can throw a rock in any direction and hit a place that has the Cascadia Weekly or the Betty Pages. Why not have them? Support a local publication.

Whenever I have had the misfortune to find myself in one of these dire, flat-packed coffee shops and have had a first hand experience I have hated it. Coffee is fine, I guess, if you like bland coffee but they always try to upsell you with fake cheery verbal listings of all the crappy cakes and muffins they have (I can see what you have and, if I wanted a muffin I would ask for one) Cheesy smiles, fake happiness hides a right wing, anti gay truth. Avoid like the plague. There are plenty of truly local coffee shops to choose from. You don't have to go to this Starbucks lookalike.

  • Julie J.

My husband & I go here every week after our walk. The staff is always friendly & fast. There is always a place to sit, either inside or out. Their pumpkin scones are wonderful. Wish they offered them all year long. My only complaint is their prices - a bit high for retired folks, but still enjoy the experience. Not sure about all the "anti gay" talk that has been posted on here. I have never seen that. They treat everyone equal.

I have spent a few thousand dollars here over the past two years, held numerous meetings, and always overlooked their poorly made coffee. But the moral and gender biased lectures I have gotten as of late have put me over the top. I will never go back here, and honestly have no idea how they stay in business other than their coffee is probably pretty cheap so they have a good profit margin. One of the most ridiculously managed businesses I have ever seen.

So cute! I just love this place. I wish we had the Woods in Seattle/King County. Nicest baristas ever, which is always a huge plus, and they have some mighty tasty coffee to boot. Wifi is free, seating is plentiful, and they have some yummy looking pastries. I love how this place feels like you are in the middle of a log cabin in the middle of the woods (ha) with a nice cozy fireplace and hot beverages. Beautiful location, excellent view, good drinks and good eats!

  • Chad H.

It is Woods Coffee! Best coffee you will find in town and on top of all of that this is one of the best views you will find in town as well. Enjoy Boulevard Park, enjoy the view of the bay from inside, it doesn't matter as it is all just a little better once you add a Woods Coffee in your hands!

  • Sarah A.

My husband and I stopped in here and were so impressed! I would argue that its the best cup of coffee you can find in Bellingham. They roast their own so you can bet they know their stuff. I loved the Barista's as well. All very fun, lively and seemingly loved what they do without the coffee snobbish attitude. We grabbed some beans for home since we live so far away but I will savor the beans until we get up there again! Great area for dates, study sashes, and hanging for down time. The location was absolutely breathtaking! Not sure how the other locations are but this one is fantastic, the view and cozy ambience are worth it!

  • Denice R.

I'm a big Woods Coffee fan and this location is about as good as it gets if you're a saltwater person. I love this location. I also totally enjoy their brew and espresso and their selection of pastries is quality, definitely a cut above. I've had swell service at every location I've been to so far. The woodsy, outdoorsy, riverrocky, warm, calming, comfortable, inviting feel and theme of The Woods Coffee shops are my favorite hands down. The Woods are my favorite coffee shops anywhere and I hope one day they expand to Seattle.

This is a best Woods coffee location. One of my favorite things to do on a beautiful Saturday, is to take the two mile walk on the boardwalk and end at this coffee shop (nothing like dangling good coffee in front of me to get me to exercise!). It has a beautiful view of the water, the staff is friendly, and they have some gluten-free breakfast sandwiches that actually don't taste half-bad. So go--enjoy the view, the atmosphere, the coffee, the gluten-freeness, the walk...the whole experience. You'll like it.

My friend took me here during my vacation from Hawaii. It's her favorite coffee shop, and I can tell why. Very friendly staff, good coffee, beautiful view of the water, and wonderful ambience inside. Also the white chocolate raspberry scone was delicious! Great experience!

  • Jefferson S.

Location. Location. Location. Even if the coffee was sub-par, this place would still be packed if only for the view. Luckily it's not (the coffee, that is). And that view... Impossible not to stop in for a cup whenever you are at the park. [sigh] If only we had a Woods Coffee & Boulevard Park in my hometown.

I don't drink frothy lattes in log cabins by Bellingham Bay often, but when I do, I prefer The Woods Coffee Shop. This place is sweet. My barista was a tart. My coffee was delicious and exactly what I needed to sober up after lots of german beer at Chuckanut. Don't ask how I got to The Woods Coffee. I didn't drive. Okay, I did. After 6 months of paying $4 for a Seattle latte served with extreme aloofness (yes, it's possible) it was nice to have a barista with some peppiness. She even joked they didn't have a bathroom! What a hoot! I get that this is a chain, and that makes me kind of sad because in many ways I'm an NPR liberal that rallies against corporations and chains every chance I get, but whatever, it's a northwest chain. The views? Awesome. The interior? Awesome. The bathrooms? Disgusting park commodes that smell like sweat and urine. Can't win them all.

Delilah coffees and chai with an awesome view of Bellingham Bay. If you have time, go for a walk along the elevated boardwalk and take in the view. .

I had never been to or heard of The Woods Coffee before visiting Bellingham. My friend introduced it as the Starbucks of Bellingham. At first we avoided it, but something drew me in, maybe it was the name, 'The Woods'. I ended up visiting on my last day. I purchased a gluten free sausage breakfast sandwich and a grande vanilla latte with extra flavor and an extra shot. It was a little pricey but the coffee was absolutely fantastic. It was rich and froathy and perfect for the rainy morning I was facing. The sausage muffin was cold in the center but it was still good after I heated it in the microwave. The ambience and the interior of the coffee shop was really cool and showed off a lot of the coffee culture and history of the company which was cool and interesting. I liked the ambience of the place and the food and coffee I received the day I visited.

My favorite place for coffee. Super friendly baristas who greet you as you come in and remember your drink, and don't forget about the amazing view. Only bummer is the bathroom is outside and is dark and cold.

  • Susie S.

When the Woods Coffee first opened they were a friendly operation with personable baristas, a warm, inviting atmosphere, and menu items which were reasonably priced. But as time has passed and they have grown it has saddened me to get the feeling when I visit that the customer has taken a back seat to the objective of expansion and those serving seem somewhat indifferent. When I am able to receive rewards for free drinks and treats at other prominent cafes whose employees show more interest in me as a customer, I have chosen to take my business elsewhere. I miss what the Woods once was.

  • Charisma Y.

I'm a huge fan of this cafe. Sadly, this chain only exists in Whatcom County. It's my lifesaver. During hard times (aka midterms all the way through finals), you would find me holed up in a corner here. They have a fireplace that warms you right up. The feeling is similar to being in a cabin during the winter time. Instead of ordering a tall, grande, or venti-sized drink.. you can order spruce, cedar, or redwood. Cute, huh? The Bay View Woods is probably my favorite one out of all other locations. It's right next to Bellingham Bay, and the view is gorgeous. (It's right in the middle of Boulevard Park, next to the board walk). The only downside is that it's small and during peak times (like around midterms), so seating is very limited. My advice is to get there early if you want to score a place to sit. To sum it up: it's a cozy place for you to get your ish done, or to just relax. Another bonus: They're very good about eliminating waste. Bellingham is known for being an environmental-friendly city, and this coffee chain adheres to that.

  • Nicki S.

I really love woods coffee, and specifically this location is what made that happen. Their service is nice, but it is a busy place. The loft is where I like to hideout come winter and do some studying. However, there are some drawbacks. Most of the time when you ask for a free-water, whether you bought something or not, you'll get it. Both me and a friend bought something and went upstairs. However, when he tried to get one, they charged him money. I received mine for free. Also, because its busy, it will be a little hard to hear your order. Back to the bright side? The outdoor seating and walk up window are a nice touch and their service is almost always friendly, and you can tell that the baristas are trying their best. Overall? It's great.

Boo! Giving this Woods a bad review makes me sad because I've always had such good luck at other locations. But I would not go back to this particular location, primarily based on the horrible service. I dropped in with my family on a sunny weekend afternoon. I wanted to order two 12oz iced lattes. I was rudely informed that they don't make 12oz iced drinks, only 16oz. Which is annoying and a crummy way to force customers to pay more for their coffee. I have never been to a coffee establishment that won't make smaller iced drinks. But on top of the inconvenience of no small iced drinks the barista who helped me was clearly annoyed that I wanted a smaller drink. When I informed her I would only be ordering one drink she looked mad. Then while I stood there and waited for my drink I overheard her and saw her talking to another barista behind the counter about what an idiot I was. It was unprofessional, rude and actually quite puzzling... It's coffee for goodness sake. If this wasn't a coffee shop I wouldn't be so hard on them for the inconvenience of no 12oz or smaller iced coffee... But that's what they do, make coffee. This experience has really turned me off from Woods, honestly I will probably avoid this establishment in the future, as there are many other coffee shops in Bellingham.

Well the coffee ain't bad that's for sure. But its like a huge chain confined to a small town that's basically portland jr. That being said I get bugged seeing this place everywhere in bellingham but only in bellingham (well if you include lynden too, of course). Get your coffee there and enjoy it. Just remember I told you so when you start seeing these lil coffee huts everywhere.

  • Cameron S.

Love it! Someone recommended it to me, and living in Lynnwood I always figured that I would go to it the next time I was in Bellingham visiting a friend or something. However, after realizing that I hadn't done homework in over a week, and needed to get away, I decided to make a little trip up north. I was not disappointed. At first, I thug that the maps app on my iPhone had taken me to the wrong location, because The Woods Coffee is in a park on the waterfront. Awesome little location. The coffee was amazing, and the plethora of snacks makes it even better. The cozy little coffee shop is the perfect place to come and zone out into your computer. Free wi-fi for 4 hours gives almost anyone enough time to do their homework, and all refills are free on drip coffee. What more could you ask for? Over stuffed leather chairs, the fireplace and river log cabin accents only add to how pleasant it is to simply come and relax. I might have to make a drive up here again just for another quick "coffee escape".

Woods Coffee is interesting. They're local, but you can see scalability in every detail. The Boulevard Park location is incredible though, and they've gone above and beyond with the space (love, love, love the loft). It's right on the water, and on a clear day there are fantastic views of the bay with the Cascades as a backdrop. I wavered on the fifth star, but they deserve it for three reasons: 1. Drip refills are free. (Actually, now that I've been in Bham for like 3 years I realize that this counts for like every coffee shop in town.) 2. Outlets... I'd say better than 80% of the tables in any given Woods location have access to one (or more) outlets. There's one table up on the loft that literally has access to 8(!) outlets. Woods takes the whole "this is a college town" thing seriously. 3. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find another coffee shop in a decent sized metro with a location more picturesque. OK, maybe in Big Sur or something, but Boulevard Park is prime coffee shop real estate. 4. Best rewards program in the solar system. Most places have a punch card for free drinks, right? At Woods you can save your points and buy merch. No joke, here's what I've purchased with Woods points: 1. Hario Buono Pour over kettle, 2. Hario V60 Pour over cone, 3. A bunch of drinkware. (Full disclosure, I probably go to Woods like four times a week). Another reviewer commented that sadly, Woods only exists in Whatcom County. That may be true, but probably not for long. They've got a good business model and they seem to always have expansion on the mind.

My hubby and I stopped in here while walking along the waterfront. The place COULDN'T be any cuter! It has a real "lodge-y", rustic feel about it, complete with fireplace and upstairs seating area. The view is amazing. But now, even days later, hubby and I are still talking about the coffees we had, how they were the best coffees we've EVER had (he had a mocha concoction, I had a nonfat vanilla latte). There was no typical unpleasant (bitter) aftertaste at all. We both agreed, our coffees were better than what we usually get a Starbucks or Tulleys.

Got an iced latte today during a beautiful 75 degree stroll through Boulevard Park - impressed! -An easy walk up counter for park-goers -Really nice indoor seating/decor -Plenty of options - my soy latte was great -FULLY COMPOSTABLE PLASTIC CUPS - this is a major bonus point Prices aren't super cheap hence the drop in a star, but overall very happy with the experience.

  • Ruthie S.

The service here is ALWAYS friendly - regardless of which Woods you go to. I will say, it feels generic, like starbucks. If I am going somewhere local, I want it to feel authentic and the woods is just a local chain... boooooring. The coffee is not very good, either.

    (3)
  • Kevin B.

The ambiance of The Woods is great, free wifi and free refills along with tables to study at. This location is usually very full and at times there is a small wait for a table to open up. The coffee is average. They make their money on fun flavors and great customer connections, neither of which should be overlooked. If you like flavored drinks (white "chocolate" and such) this is the place for you.

Visiting from sunny San Diego, we needed our daily fix of good coffee, fired up Yelp on the iPhone and found The Woods Coffee shop nearby. We pointed the car in that direction and quickly found the shop. Nestled adjacent to a jogging trail on a scenic view of the water, the shop's quaint feel, extremely friendly staff, outstanding pastries and superb coffee hit the spot. We will be back!

The location at Woods Coffee at Boulevard Park is "as good as it gets" in my opinion. The coffee is great but I really see it as a bonus to the location and atmosphere. I have not seen "The Kiln Room" in Yelp. This is a room at Woods that can be rented for meetings. It provides an projector for laptop presentations, an easel with a large sketchpad and a large, stylish "round table" with about 10-12 executive chairs. I've used the Kiln room for two meetings now. The room is quiet, gives us easy access to fresh beverages and gives our clients a beautiful view when we step outside for a break. The boardwalk connects the Chrysalis Inn and Spa to Woods and the Park. This combo really cannot be beat for hosting clients. My only recommendation is to offer some kind of loyalty discount to frequent users of the Kiln Room and/or some kind of referral program. I have not ever had a problem securing reservations and I usually reserve at the last minute. I think this room is still somewhat of a secret - I tell everyone I know about it. As for the the coffee shop, it provides free wifi, and a comfortable couch and large table with games located in front of the fire place. In the winter time I enjoy drinking coffee or tea outside because the fireplace is two sided. You get heat from the fireplace sitting outside and can enjoy the spectacular view of Bellingham Bay. Upstairs contains soft chairs and is not as busy as downstairs. Great place to get a cup of coffee go online and surf the web or work. I recommend Woods and the Kiln Room for business and pleasure.

My americano was just ok. I think my espresso shot just wasn't great. I like this coffee shop and would definitely try it again if I'm in the area--the crowd inside seemed friendly and relaxed (mostly college age folks socializing or studying) and it is a much better alternative to Starbucks! I always like to see businesses make a commitment to greener practices, and this cafe's compostable cups made me a happy camper! Also, the nice boy who rung up my order was friendly and pleasant.

This is a coffee shop with an amazing view. I had a coconut latte which was pretty good. The pastries all looked great! We tried the maple bacon scone and lemon blueberry muffin. They were both fantastic! I would have rated this with five stars if the Batista's were just a little more interactive and the coffee was impeccable. It is a five star atmosphere though.

Perfect northwest ambience. Coffee, bay view, a park, and friends. Great place to bring out of town visitors as well.

I love this place. This is my favorite Woods location in both the summer and winter! Coffee and service are always awesome.

Oh, lordy lordy, hot foamy espresso drinks, big squishy leather armchairs, ski cabin decor, a fireplace and an on the water view of Bellingham Bay? Oh, and did I mention free wifi? You're going to have trouble getting me to leave this place.

I'd heard about the famous Woods Coffee for a few days before I finally got to try it out, and lo and behold they have a Yerba Mate latte on the menu. I had been yelping Bellingham cafes to find if any of them serve Mate (pronounced "MAH-tay"). Sadly this mate was tooooo latte. Very sweet and tasted not much different from my aunt's chai tea latte, which we surmised is because a latte is mostly milk and foam anyway, though I really do prefer my mixed espresso/tea drinks on the strong side. Why do I want to pay $3+ for a big cup of milk? I don't, that's why. Hence, I say, good effort and awesome that it's even on the menu, but really too sweet and not at all strong enough. The atmosphere of the store is nice. There is outdoor seating that looks over the bay-really beautiful-and an entire waterfront park to walk along while drinking whatever your beverage of choice is. It's a great location, however, I'd probably find myself in a smaller, less busy place to do some reading or work. It's perfect, though, for getting in and getting out, which is exactly what my aunt and I had to do that day. Friendly staff, too.

I visited this place after walking around the farmer's market and I was very impressed. The first thing I noticed was the decor and woody scent. I don't know if it is real, but I actually felt like I was in a cabin or lodge. Being from California, it was cool to be in that environment. I asked for an iced tea and to my shock they gave me a choice of 6 different iced teas! While I was waiting for my iced tea to be done being freshly brewed I couldn't help but admire the cleanliness of the place. The people behind their bar keep their area very clean. I have worked as a barista in a couple of cafes and I know how messy making drinks can be. When I ordered I found the baristas to be really friendly and we struck up a conversation about Bellingham and how it was like Berkeley, CA.

I stopped in here with my lady while walking along the waterfront. It was cold outside and I was pleased to find out that they had hot cider on the menu. I ordered up a Caramel Apple Cider and and sat down in a comfy leather chair in the loft area. Take a caramel apple and liquefy it and thats what I drank. Really yummy. The view of the waterfront was really good too.

WOW, was I ever pleasantly surprised by this place! I had my usual non-fat, vanilla latte that I typically enjoy at Starbucks and Starbucks only. Since I was in the company of someone else and didn't want to be a complete prima donna, I decided to try coffee at their favorite B'ham coffee shop on the boulevard. Dare I say it, but they were better than Starbucks (which probably isn't a surprise to most folks, but since I'm a Starbucks devotee, it was news to me). The flavoring was rich, but not too sweet, nice and warm *but not hot enough to burn off my tongue* and perfectly foamy. Perfecto! I enjoyed every sip of my latte and will make a point to visit this place the next time I'm in Bellingham or nearby at one of their locations!

What a great location! Views of the bay are great here. There is fireplace seating both inside and outside. There is upstairs seating with an even better view of the bay. They have a walk-up window to order from outside. This is a great location if you're biking or walking through Boulevard Park. If you're driving, just enter Boulevard Park and you'll see it on your way in. I have seen a lot of reviews for The Woods Coffee that attempt to compare it to Starbucks, and I will not attempt to do that because I think Woods is in an entirely different league than Starbucks. There are three things, in my opinion, that make The Woods stand above the competition. They are atmosphere, specialty drinks, and friendly customer service. I can't comment on the drip coffee because I have not tried it yet. The atmosphere varies slightly from one location to the next, but they all stay within the theme of earth-tone/modern/cabin. What I really like about The Woods its that they fit somewhere between national coffee chain and local coffee stand. This is good because they have several locations, but they don't feel like a corporate chain. I always like trying their holiday and special drinks and haven't been disappointed yet. When it comes to customer service, I've always found the baristas to be friendly and professional. My wife told them she was getting tired of the pumpkin white mocha and they offered a suggestion of something similar (brown sugar and cinnamon pumpkin latte) which was great!

Great coffee, good location and lovely decor, which I will surely take advantage of next time, but on my first trip I sat outside.. What's with the smoking at the tables outside? Very unpleasant. Can something be done about this??

I came back to Woods again but this time at their Boulevard Park location. I brought my fiance and a friend from BC and they loved their coffee. The service was quick and friendly. The location was nice and very comfortable. THey have an amazing set up. Over all, I would go here before Starbucks. :)

Coffee is so-so, the baristas seem to have a problem with saying your drink order loud enough so I always have to question if I'm taking the right drink but the Boulevard Park location is awesome, it's a lovely place to retreat to on a stormy day and watch the bay, or sit outside and people watch.

I have the good fortune of living less than a mile from this Woods location. It's a fantastic motivator to get me up and out for a walk, although I'm pretty sure getting my latte fix all but nullifies the calories I burned getting there. Woods has pretty decent coffee; not the best I've had, but It goes down smoothly. I tend to like my coffee & espresso darker and bolder. Like so bold it can almost stand on its own and smack me. That's the type of coffee that can rouse me at an evil, er, I mean EARLY hour. However, with the friendly staff, homey ambiance, and to-die-for views of this place, I can't help but give it 5 stars. This is (almost) as good as it gets for a coffee shop. A few pointers: There is seating inside and out, and if you happen to be missing a few essentials (shoes, shirt, morning shower, etc.), or simply don't want to take your eyes off the view, there's a walkup window towards the back. Also, I think their summer hours are later than what's posted here; I was there after 9:00 PM last weekend, even though Yelp told me it closed at 8:00.
