Went on a Friday for brunch; the restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. Service was timely, professional and very friendly! Ordered a refreshing mimosa and the Original Eggs Bennie - exquisite! Perfectly poached eggs with creamy hollandaise, tasty ham and best of all served on their signature fluffy Belgian waffle that is also on top of a bed of homestyle potatoes! They also have a wide selection of gluten free options - including crepes! 5 = This is a favorite and I come here often!

Yum is all I can say. Everyone in the group was in unison that this place was on point. The wait time wasn't at all bad even though we went around brunch time on Sunday. The staff was super friendly and sweet. The food was superb. I ordered the turkey and avocado crepe. I heard the salmon egg benedict was the best item to get, but I am not into benedicts so I went for my choice of the turkey crepe. The waffle I sampled from my friend was a tad dry and hard so I would suggest staying away from it. Pets are allowed at the premise, but you have to be seated outside. Street parking is totally free on Sundays btw!

The last two times I ate in this restaurant I got food poisoning (in December of 2011 and again in 2015). During the 2015 visit others in my group also got sick from different food items. Although I cannot confirm, I believe both incidents were from the hollandaise sauce - I suggest avoiding. I do not recommend the waffles eggs Benedict - the waffle is very bland in flavor. They do have great espresso drinks.

Because of its great reviews, especially of the eggs Benedict, we decided to brunch here. It was an excellent choice. All four of us got Benedict and we all thought the hollandaise sauce was ridiculously good. Seriously, though. We were glad that our plates were smothered in it (see photos for proof). I split the ham eggs Benedict and salmon version and preferred the ham. What's interesting is that the Benedicts are served on waffles instead of English muffins. The waffles were good on their own as well as with the sauce and eggs and meat. Eggs were a perfect poach. The potatoes that accompanied the Benedict tasted a bit too earthy for my liking but, of course, tastes excellent when doused in hollandaise sauce and tapatio. I also ordered an Americano, made with local coffee, and it was a nice caffeine boost. We got seated right away and service was prompt. There was a giant painting of a black lab overlooking our table, which I thought was cool.

We stopped in here on a warm Friday evening during the monthly Bellingham Art Walk and grabbed a delicious and huge chocolate chip cookie. We sat outside and munched its yumminess while people-watching...a great activity here at the Mount Bakery! It was getting late, though, so their selection of desserts was dwindling. We settled on a second cookie, another glass of water, and decided to come back earlier in the day next time. I heard they have amazing lemon cake!

SO happy with my choice to dine here! I got the 1/2 sandwich and soup. For the sandwich I ordered the Turkey Gouda and man was it delicious! It was definitely the cranberry relish that set this sandwich apart from other turkey sandwiches. The fresh whole wheat bread was also a standout with its crispy nice crust. As for the soup, I sampled their soup special it was a vegetable posole soup with hominy. This soup was also quite good, it had nice bite to it. In addition to my lunch, I got a nonfat chai latte with whipped cream. This was ok... I would have liked a bit more chai tea flavor, it tasted a little weak. The whipped cream was fresh, which was quite enjoyable. My friend ordered their quiche special and a cup of the same vegetable soup. She let me sample a sliver and it was delicious. I think what made it so good was the perfectly flaky and buttery crust. I could have just eaten just the crust... but I resisted the urge. It can get quite busy here especially on the weekends. Even week days around peak times there is a wait, so be prepared to wait for delicious food! Service is lacking in attentiveness (it's ok... but not great) I overlooked this because the food was so darn good. Enjoy!

Quaint cafe in Bellingham. Thank you, Yelp once again for another good find! Stopped by for brunch on our way to Seattle. Parking was easy (street) and paid $1.75 for 2 hours. There was 6 of us, about a 15-20 min wait. The interior felt like it was part library, part thrift shop, part bakery. But it was cozy and the smell of the food and coffee was like a warm hug on a cold day. Served water in glass bottles, because obvy. Split the wild salmon cream cheese frittata with my friend, with a side of potatoes and bacon. The frittata was made with 4 eggs, generous amount of avocado and lots and lots of wild salmon cream cheese. Had the right amount of dill to add the perfect kick. It was portioned well - every bite had egg, cream cheese and avo. Potatoes and bacon were cooked well. Not too dry, not burnt. Top it off with some ketchup and hot sauce, good to go! Notes: they don't take CAD anymore. But cash (USD) and card is accepted. Disappointed couldn't try the baked goods. Was too full!

I have never had an urge mid-meal (or snack) to write a review for an establishment-- until now! Do yourself a favor, enjoy one of their delicious cinnamon rolls. I don't even know how to explain the heaven that I am eating right now. If you love sweets, you'll love this. If not, then you clearly don't have taste buds.

Best brunch I've had in Belling-vegas. We had 2 delicious (HUGE) mimosas 1 incredible machiatto - better than anything I've been served in Seattle Crepes rancheros w/ cheese potatos and avocado & Sausage crepe. Friendly staff, little to no wait at 1030 am on a Saturday -- 5 stars abound!

Aye carumba! Be ready to shell out all of the cash in your wallet. This little hole in the wall is expensive. The Portabello Mushroom Eggs Benedict set me back $15, and that was with no drink. Yes, the ingredients are farm fresh, organic when possible and the large plate was completely covered and stacked high with food enough to feed a couple of people, but it was still quite pricy for breakfast items. It's no surprise they take all credit cards including American Express. Had the bennies actually been the best in town taste-wise, I might not actually be offput by the price; however, they were not. There was an unusual yeasty taste to my meal that I couldn't place. I wondered if the belgian waffle was beer battered until my waitress pointed out that the wine-like enhancement was the balsalmic vinegar from the portabello mushroom. Yep, that is it. It made for an unusual flavor combination, one my tastebuds just couldn't see returning for another tour of duty. Normally I visit a place twice before writing a review, but the first tour was a hardship for both my tastebuds and my wallet. I really don't want to waste my time paying to park a mile away for this experience again.

Best benedict in town, hands down. Great drip coffee, excellent service.

Do you like baked goods? They got em! You like breakfast? They got that too. If you don't like the eggs benedict, you're probably a communist. THEY COME ON A WAFFLE and it will blow your taste buds minds. Fa-real. The girl with the bird tattoos is a great server, the rest aren't bad, but they aren't the best either.

Traveled up to Bellingham during a short weekend getaway and stumbled upon this place. It's a small cozy cafe that provides both indoor and outdoor seating. We came for Saturday brunch and only had to wait about 5-10 minutes. That gave us plenty of time to review the menu and make some important brunch decisions! I got the Smoked Salmon Benney. This benney is actually made on a waffle! Pretty neat! The hollandaise sauce was prefect, not too salty. The dish comes with a side of country potatoes which were delicious, soft, and well seasoned. At first I thought they didn't give me very much and then I found out that most of my potatoes were under my benney. Surprise surprise! I also ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade. Not my favorite. The lemonade was too sour and need a bit more sweetener. This place also serves, waffles, crepes (savory and sweet), a variety of pastries and desserts, coffee/espresso, frittatas, etc. Lots of variety and they all sound delicious! It was extremely difficult to not order one of everything! If you're in the area definitely stop by and enjoy a delicious brunch meal! I mean it is the best meal of the day!

Just had the crab benny with asparagus special, it was amazing! Probably the best hollandaise I've had, good coffee, great atmosphere. Will return!

My boyfriend and I heard very good things about this place, so we decided to try it out during my visit in Bellingham. He had the Portobello Benny and I had the Original. Both were very good and very generous in portion size. Definitely worth the money. The place wasn't too busy or too noisy we went in and the waitresses were very friendly. My only complaints are that the water served was warm and the time it took for my boyfriend to get a refill on his coffee took quite a bit. He had finished his first cup before we got our food, and he got his refill after we were done eating. One of our waitresses also asked if we wanted ketchup or hot sauce, but never came back to give us any. All in all, the food was delicious. The service just needs a bit more care and everything would be great.

Stopped at this place on our way from Vancouver to Seattle. Excellent food and service, great location as well. Recommend the smoked salmon Benedict, and the generous size mimosa. Also tried the Crepos Rancheros and the wife loved it.

How I heard of this place: The first creperie in Bellingham, it was a hard place to miss for a crepe fan. Type of cuisine: "We are a family owned bakery and creperie featuring local, organic ingredients in everything from our award winning scratch baked treats to our breakfast and lunches, [serving soup, quiche, espresso and all the baked treats you love] like our life changing Eggs Benedict." Ambiance: Patio seating on a hot, sunny spring afternoon welcomes patrons through the windowed front entryway. Inside, the yellow walls with paintings from local artists create a warm and ambient seating area directly ahead of the extensive kitchen and bakery. Low-volumed tunes from the 80s play overhead bringing a smile to the faces of each and every 30-something diner inside the establishment as well as those seated in the outdoor patio, as we await our freshly made entrees. What I ordered: Immediately knowing that I fancied a crepe, I selected the savory Turkey & Gouda Crepe ($9.95) generously stuffed with thinly sliced Hemplers turkey, Dutch Gouda cheese and avocado, served alongside my choice of the Yellow Split Pea soup. My husband selected the Hot Turkey & Gouda ($7.95) made with tangy house cranberry relish, thinly sliced Hemplers turkey, Dutch Gouda cheese, red onion and mayo. Our dining companions enjoyed the Hot BLAT ($8.95), a BLT with avocado piled high with Hemplers thick-cut bacon, mayo, fresh organic greens and tomato, and the Classic Breakfast ($6.95) including two scrambled eggs, potatoes and whole wheat toast, with the addition of veggie patties ($3.25). What I loved: The fresh, abundant, thick-cut slices of avocado in my crepe and the fresh, warm marrying of flavors in the Hot Turkey & Gouda sandwich. The Yellow Split Pea soup added creamy yet light enjoyment with its soft texture and medley of flavors. Why I loved it: An easy-going atmosphere paired with generous portions of deliciously fresh food: what's not to love? Cost: Average ($6.95 - $9.95 per breakfast or lunch entree)

Absolute best gluten free breakfast and bakery I've visited in Washington. I had the chocolate buckwheat crepe and I was not disappointed. It was so good I licked the plate! The hardest part was choosing between a gluten free beny option or the crepes! Plus they had mimosas! Huge win. Highly recommend this place if you're craving a gf friendly sweet breakfast spot.

  • Jerry S.

I regularly meet friends here for breakfast. The food is high quality and tasty! Especially love the ham benny on waffle with that yellow sauce. Ummm good. Wash down with some strong coffee and you have the start to a great day. I suggest more fruit pastries and less sugar in the cookies. Way too sweet, even for an (sugar) addict. All in all though - i give it very high marks. Lunch menu is pretty tasty too.

Mount Bakery Cafe is my favorite breakfast/brunch option in Bellingham. I've been eating here since they opened years ago. Their fancy eggs benedict is heavenly! Be patient as the kitchen is small. Don't go here is your claustrophobic. In a hurry just grab one of their amazing baked goods. They also support local products.

    (5)
  • Tom W.

They make perfect croissants, flakey and buttery and right in away that satisfies viscerally. The coffee is delicious and easily up to the exacting standards of the Pacific Northwest, (where even the gas station coffee seems to best that of New York coffee houses) and it has a lovely view of the sound. I was in Bellingham for two days and went both times for breakfast.

Decent portions with delicious flavors! We ordered three different styles of Benny and all three were good! We were given waffles instead of English muffin. Initially we were kind of skeptical about the waffles but it turned out great! The hash browns were unfortunately a bit dull (hence 4*).

Horrible service They will not make eggs to order They have no soft drinks Did I mention the 30 minutes it took just to get our tea? Not good. Not coming back

If you go for one thing, go for the cinnamon rolls. By far one of the best pastries I've had. Big enough to split with someone, too. I'm pretty sure they are made with croissant dough because they are always flaky and perfect. I tell everyone about these--get one warmed up and with coffee and you will love it. They also have awesome croissants and great breakfasts. I usually go for the Belgian waffle with fruit and chocolate. They make a great frittata too.

Wonderful baked goods, great coffee and soup! Also love the atmosphere. This is a great place to relax and enjoy cafe food. One of the better little spots over been to in Bellingham! Definitely recommend to anyone.

My family and I stopped here on a Monday after a trip to Whatcom Falls because I hadn't had a crepe since going gluten-free a year and a half ago. My sons each had the Belgian waffle with fruit/chocolate/whipped cream; my husband had the apple and brie crepe; and I had a gluten-free enchilada-type crepe with a side of potatoes. Everything was fantastic! Mine especially was very filling. I would consider moving to Bellingham just for Whatcom Falls Park and this restaurant! Too bad they don't ship to Minnesota, LOL.

We were headed to Canada for Mother's Day and decided to stop off to have lunch here. We got there and there was a 30 minute wait, but I wasn't surprised bc it was Mother's Day after all. Once we got called we sat down at our table and ordered. I ordered the Crab and asparagus Benny, my husband ordered the mushroom Benny, and my oldest son ordered the Belgian chocolate waffle, and my youngest ordered a regular waffle. I also ordered the Mother's Day drink(I forgot the name of it) that had champagne and something else and a strawberry slice and Rosemary. It was just ok I would have preferred no Rosemary bc I had to keep picking it out of my mouth while drinking it. My boys really loved their hot chocolates though. Now, for the food! I absolutely LOOOVED my Crab and Asparagus Benny!! It was freakin delicious and I want one right now as I am typing this review!lol Pretty much it is a eggs Benedict with shredded crab, two stems of asparagus, on top of a fluffy waffle and potatoes! Mmmmmm Yum! Although I loved mine my hubby wasn't as impressed with his and my youngest didn't like his waffle at all. I can say that the waffle alone was not the best. It was really quite bland. But, the waffle under the eggs Benedict and crab was delicious! So, since this is my review I give it a 4 star!

They have great breads! The restaurant is always busy, which means the services are not that good as their food. They need more stuff...

Popped in on our way to Seattle, and we were stoked! All of us ordered different variations of the eggs Benny on a waffle. Amazing. The hollandaise was too rich and heavy for me (no one else thought so..) but still really hit the spot..

    (5)
  • Jeanna L.

The eggs benedict was decent and I enjoyed the waffle base. The eggs were perfectly poached and while the hollandaise wasn't the best I've had, it was good. The crepe was basically cold and therefore less appetizing. It wasn't anything special. While we did only start eating it after the benedict (5min), I had checked the temp when it first came out to discover it wasn't even luke warm. I like my crepes fresh/hot! The service could use some work. We tried to move a plate on an empty table next to us because no one had come by to clear it in some time and we needed the space. Then this girl said "please don't do that" in a rather rude voice.

The waitress forgot to put my order into the system and there were only about 4 tables. The table that came in after me got their food first. I was probably there for 30 minutes just waiting for my one dish. The waitress apologized, but I didn't get any sort of discount which I expected after waiting so long.

Great brunch, especially if you like a standard breakfast fare done well. We had the crepes rancheros, which was quite good, as well as the benney (forgot which one). All the benneys would quite good, and the hollandaise sauce was amazing, so you can't go wrong with any of them. If you're from out of town, like I am, it's also nice to stroll around downtown Bellingham afterwards to burn off the massive caloric intake if the weather's nice. There's also a great wine shop in walking distance if you want to get the party started early.

this place is my our standard must go to destination for Breakfast... Always busy, and we often wait, but it is worth the wait...The food is delicious, well presented, served with attention - and the place is a constant buzz of activity and smiling faces... when I finish eating i will say more about my great appreciation for this place...

The croissants are awesome, and so is the eggs Benedict (particularly the one with salmon)! Great portion sizes, reasonably priced. They can be pretty busy on the weekends at breakfast/brunch time, so be prepared for a wait. I highly recommend it!

Food was over priced for the quality. Waitress couldn't be bothered. Staff in general unfriendly. Go to the Black Drop instead next door

I got the half veggie sandwich and soup combo, and it was so good! The sandwich was warm, and the pesto spread was a good match. I had to take the eggplant out because it was too chewy and made the sandwich come apart. The soup was curried butternut squash with kale, and it was excellent. Butternut squash is usually too sweet for my taste, but this one was savory and balanced. Another plus was the coffee was actually good! Too many breakfast places have awful coffee...

So far my favorite breakfast/ patisserie in Bellingham. It has a wonderfully honest aesthetic, the food is natural, delicious and filling. Love the potatoes, crépes and other breakfast items. I get the molliere (Belgian mocha) as a special treat, and pick up some extra croissants as I pay at the door.

Two hours of wasted time! We waited for 40 minutes to get a seat, then our experience went downhill from there. Our server Mariah was absolutely awful. She was really nasty to my 1.5 year old. She gave us a hard time about wanting a high chair. Really? Where the hell are we supposed to put her? On our laps? Then when she was serving our drinks, she didn't politely ask, but rudely said "she needs to sit down." Oh, does she?? Why the hell would you serve hot coffee at the exact location a toddler is sitting, is beyond me. Why not serve the drinks in between the two adults on one side of the table? Makes no sense. Guess what happens next? Yep, our ticket was "lost" and our order was never placed. We waited for an hour before finally inquiring about our food. We figured they were busy, but when two different groups of diners came in and received their food and checks before us, well, it was obvious. If you're such a kid hater Mariah, why the hell would you want us in there longer? Our server never checked in on us during this hour. Strange. Like she wouldn't notice we didn't have food? Someone else had to come and top off our coffee. To "make up" for the disaster, they offered us pastries. Too bad I don't eat processed food or sugar, so that wasn't helpful. In the end they paid for our drinks. Wow, thanks a lot. I can't imagine spending a whole $2.00 on my coffee! How about paying for the food that took over an hour to get?? Shitty fucking service. My husband stated that Mount Bakery was the most unwelcoming place he's ever been, I couldn't agree more. DON'T EAT THERE! Save your money and eat somewhere else!

Love this place! Maybe the best eggs Benedict I've ever eaten, not too mention friendly staff and hot, great coffee. What more can you ask for? I'll definitely come again on my way through town.

We frequent the Bakery Cafe on almost a weekly basis due to the ambiance and incredible food. They are very accommodating; willing to change the ingredients and sides for any dish to address taste or dietary requirements. The staff always friendly and take the time to connect even when very busy. Our recommended combo is a stop by the Black Drop for a custom coffee and then head to the Bakery for the main course. The wait times can be 15-20 minutes at peak times.

We went to breakfast here at 10am.. There was no problem finding a seat. This was the first time I have been here and it was delicious. I got the tomato Benny and wow... That's all I can say. I also had the camomile tea. Perfect. Just perfect.

This is my favorite place for breakfast in Bellingham!!! The Benedict (all varieties) are perfect. The egg is beautifully poached and served on a waffle! A waffle!!! What a lovely treat. Every time I order eggs Benedict elsewhere I'm mildly disappointed with the humble muffin. looking forward to my next Mt. Bakery experience.

A classmate of mine suggested this place for brunch knowing I am coming down to Bellingham. I asked him what's good; he replied, pretty much everything! Enough said. Even though he is not an Yelper or a blogger, his sense of food is legit. As my partner and I walked in we were greeted by the wonderful smell of freshly baked goods, oh how sweet and buttery they smelled. Everything looked amazing! The croissants had beautiful even layers. The choices were plentiful. Croissants alone had plain, almond, ham & cheese, and cream cheese with raspberry jam. Needless to say I went for the cream cheese with raspberry jam and it left me giddy. I asked our server to warm up the croissant a little and upon first bite I felt that if that's the last bite before I die, I"d be completely fine with it. The croissant was light, brittle flaky, not-greasy, and again had the beautiful even lamination. Aside from croissants there were scones, muffins, cookies and more. All looked drool-icious! Between the two of us we also ordered a crepe of the day with chanterelle mushrooms, leeks, kale, tomatoes. I had a choice between potatoes, a salad, and soup for the side. I went with potato leek soup and it's the best I've had. I needed something warm to jump start my Monday morning and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I was glad I ordered it. The seasoning and flavors were bang on and the amount of lemon juice brightened up what would other wise be a stereotypical boring and starchy soup. The stuffings in the crepe were fresh and perfectly seasoned (meaning not too salty). The black coffee we ordered was good as well. I loved everything we ordered. Food was amazing. No doubt about it.

I have to say, this is the best breakfast spot in Bellingham. I've never been during weekdays, but I can definitely vouch for weekends. The cafe space itself is relatively small and the environment is usually pretty busy. Most of the time you'll have to place your name on a list and wait it out, but totally worth it. While waiting I do have one tip, be warned that if you go for what appears to be complimentary coffee, you will be charged once you are seated. Getting to the food, their Bennys are outstanding and use a Belgian waffle base. I usually order the Portobello or Bellingham's Best Benny, but the others are great as well. I also double-up on my order and snag a crepe from their vast savory/sweet selections; Lemon Curd is the plan. Overall, if you're in the area I would highly suggest checking this place out!

Yummy food, laid back vibe. Loved the missmash of coffee cups. And lots of gluten free or veg options for the people I was dinning with. I had a crepe and it was creamy and filling. Not just some greasy spoon breakfast place.

Best breakfast in Bellingham, hands down! I only wish I would have found this gem of a place earlier! As the other reviewers say, you have to try the eggs Benedict! It is amazing and the waffle is a great touch! By far the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. If eggs Benny aren't your thing, then you must try the sausage crepe! The marmalade sauce is to die for! So delicious! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to breakfast at Mount Bakery! It's well worth the wait!

I went for breakfast on a Sunday morning just before 10 am. The cafe was about three quarters full and we were able to seat ourselves without a wait. However, I wouldn't suggest arriving much later unless you're prepared to settle in for a long wait. By the time we left, there were upwards of twenty people waiting outside the cafe for a table. The cafe is pretty small so I'm guessing the kitchen probably is as well which would account for how long it takes for your order to be prepared. However, the food is way more than worth the wait. The tomato Benny on a Belgian waffle was out of this world. The hollandaise sauce was spot on and the red skinned potatoes were fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I can't wait to go back and try a crepe! Oh, and the coffee is pretty amazing too!

J really liked the eggs benedict -- using a waffle instead of English muffins is a unique and delicious way to do benedicts! I agree, it was tasty. I got the brie/apple/pear crepe. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered it because I found the brie to be too stinky for my taste -- strange, though, because usually I love brie. I also got one of their chocolate cookies - the flavor was great, but it was kind of hard. Maybe because it was 1pm and the cookies may be fresher/softer in the morning. Overall, I might try it again but order something else... and I wouldn't get a cookie in the afternoon either.

Hip waitresses will repeat back your order and then promptly scurry away to points unknown ... and then you are f'd. We waited and waited, talked to our waitress waited some more, had to feed our parking meter because an hour had passed since we arrived, asked the waitress if she could check on our order as the table next to ours turned over three separate parties... and then we got our food. The food could have been made by magic elves and I would give them one star for crappy *unapologetic* service which if they just used the old fashioned write-the -order-on -the -piece -of -paper innovation, could be avoided. Use a better system!!!

Holy deliciousness. Soft poached egg, cheese, ham, and hollandaise on half of a beautifully fluffy yeasty waffle....and all of that on top of paprika spiced home fry potatoes!!!! Wow. So delicious. It's a monster of a breakfast but worth it. The hollandaise is very rich, if you're looking for the light lemony hollandaise this is not it. Here it's buttery eggy rich. The whole dish is heaven. I've also had the savory crepes which are also delicious. I highly recommend for breakfast or brunch, but then again breakfast is served all day!!!!

BENNIES!! If you have even the mildest appreciation for eggs benedict, Mount Bakery is a MUST. Salmon benny, standard benny, veggie benny (vegetarian friendly and totally delicious in its own right)....they offer bennies for everyone! It's also served on a waffle that provides great nooks and crannies to hold hollandaise sauce and runny yolk. The side of hash browns were just salty/spiced enough and cooked to creamy potato perfection. Love the warm yellow walls and homey furniture. Super cozy. Just be sure to come before you're super hungry though, because there's a pretty decent wait for weekend breakfast/brunch

This review is from 2013. They consistently, over multiple visits, have overcooked the yolk on the eggs benedict. It's like eating an eggs benny with a hard boiled egg. The first few times I went there, it was clearly a 5-star experience. I would get the eggs benedict. It was fantastic. Then they changed owners or something like that, and the poached eggs started to be overcooked, and the flavors didn't seem to come together like before.

This bakery has the best baked goods on the planet. I normally avoid gluten, but even I can't resist their desserts, and when I'm in town, the first thing I want to do is indulge in as many glutinous, delicious Mount Bakery goods as I possibly can. The croissants are impeccable: rich, crumbly crust and perfect doughy interiors. Their cinnamon rolls are the best ever: hands down the best I've had, ever. The con? Customer service is terrible. Granted it gives the french theme authenticity, but sometimes I don't even want to eat here because I get so fed up with the servers. There have been multiple occasions where I've asked to have a cinnamon roll set aside during my meal, only to be informed that it was sold when I ask for it. Once I called and asked for 2 cinnamon rolls to be put aside, and when I came to get them, i was informed that they had been sold because the server though I "would have come to get them earlier". Wtf?! I'm constantly challenged by the servers when I order too much food, and that's just not a battle I want to be having with my server. But I'll keep coming back because Mt Bakery has the best baked goods in bellingham.

I love this place! If ever I find myself up early in downtown Bellingham, I beeline for this place! I've ordered crepes from here and they were good, but I really go for the ham and cheese croissants they make in the morning. Absolutely amazing!!! Love the food here! Definitely a place to at least stop by and grab a bakery item to go if you don't have time for a sit-down breakfast.

I'm not a morning person, and I get up early just for Mount Bakery. Hands down the best breakfast in Bellingham. I've never had less than a stellar experience from the waitstaff, and their ham benny is divine & always worth the wait.

Best brunch joint in town. Way better flavor than Old Town Cafe and a shorter wait too. My only complaint is space - very cramped... But definitely worth it for the delicious food!

My favorite place to eat in all of Bham! It's local with lots of tons of charm and an energetic atmosphere. Personal favorite: veggie sausage and onion savory crepe with salad for the side (their dressing rocks!) and a double soy Mollier (sp? - a fancy mocha with a darker more bitter chocolate - love it!) If it's chilly out, avoid the table by the door since it gets chilly. Our kid loves the place and knows where the crayons and coloring books and few toys are to occupy here during any wait.

Wow. Just, WOW. Best breakfasts I've ever had by far anywhere. I'm not exaggerating people. The breakfast crepes and assorted eggs benedicts (my favorite) are fantastic. The potatoes are always cooked to crispy perfection, the drip coffee is not your average wimpy brew, and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. This is our favorite breakfast/brunch date spot. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend!

My wife and I decided to do an early morning Trader Joe's run and decided to hit up Mount Bakery for breakfast beforehand. I had the Portabello Benny on a Belgian Waffle. WOW! This was probably the best benny I've ever had!!! Egg was cooked perfectly soft and the belgian waffle a lovely surprise compared to the classic english muffin. Can't wait to come back! EDIT 01/28/2014 I've been back a couple times since our first visit. Waffle was a bit under cooked the last time.

Our fave! From yummy coffee to perfect eggs Benny to chocolate croissants, it's fabulous! The owner is very present and friendly. The only downside is an occasional grumpy server but we don't care! (Well, and maybe the single bathroom.

The most delicious crepe I had in Bellingham. I had the Vanilla Bean Crepe With Bananas. Also they have different kinds of Pastries, Waffles, and Crepes. I am going to visit this cafe again. Amazing place for Breakfast.

  • Jesss K.

Yes, you may wait 10-20 for a table, and the service can be a little slow. Just grab some coffee for the wait and then order the Eggs Benedict unless you specifically dislike bennies. I have ordered the same at many other Northwest brunch places and nothing can equal it. Not trying to be hyperbolic when I say that I love this dish and as a result the Mount Bakery.

Went here in December to try the new gluten free buckwheat crepes. Usually when I used to eat here I would get the benedict, but since they only way to get that GF is to forgo the waffle, I chose the crepe. After trying to choose just one crepe I picked the smoked turkey and cheese with eggs. Of course I always add on for organic eggs. The crepe was HUGE and stuffed full. I was skeptical of the dark crepe, I'm not a huge fan of buckwheat, but this was thin and light. You can still taste the buckwheat but it's not strong, it's faint. The Hempler's turkey was thin and lightly smoked, the cheese was just enough. In fact, it was so filling I had to take about 1/3 of it home with me to eat later. My husband ordered the Hempler's ham benedict, which was a big, tasty plate of food as always. I just tried to avert my eyes while he ate since I love those benedicts. He said all of it was great.

My wife and I wanted a light lunch on a sunny afternoon in Bellingham so we gave Mount Bakery Café a try. We went with the classic eggs Benedict and took a tip from the waitress to try it with their bacon instead of ham. It was fantastic! The homemade hollandaise sauce was delicious and the bacon flavorful. I like the way the egg yolk, hollandaise sauce and a little hot sauce I added all blended together. Their twist is that they put the whole dish on a base of a plain toasted Belgian waffle instead of an English muffin which is a nice change of pace and helps soak up the hollandaise sauce :-). We sat at the wrought iron tables outside in the sunshine which was pleasant but the indoor seating looked inviting as well. Our waitress was friendly and low-key. Service was prompt. We were so full I didn't get to try the homemade cookies in the pastry case(iced brown sugar shortbread cookie!) but will be coming by tomorrow morning to make up for that! In general I could highly recommend this as a pleasant breakfast, brunch or lunch stop in Bellingham. They have a full range of espresso drinks, teas and coffees including an interesting Earl Grey tea with steamed milk called the London Fog.

  • Jessica M.

Chai soy latte amazing - made with real loose leaf tea and brewed to perfection. My girlfriend got the earl grey latte and same delicious story. We both got Benedict's, she got portobello and I got Dungeness crab on special. The waffle tasted like it had beer in it- when I asked they said it was the live yeast I was tasting. Next time I would sub a salad for the potatoes (although they were also delish) just so I wouldn't have such a carb overload. I definitely couldn't finish. But really great meal to say the least!

I almost hesitate to give a review because this is one of those places everyone already knows about because it's so damn good. But I will say it anyway cause they should know what a great job they are doing. Nearly every visit I've had to Mount Bakery, the food has been meticulously prepared and absolutely scrumptious. Seating is limited in this quaint little cafe but if you can squeeze in on a crowded weekend morning I promise you won't be disappointed. You have to try the Bellingham's Best Benedict at least once. This is no ordinary benedict and the made-from-scratch Hollandaise sauce is just the beginning. The delectable monstrosity begins with a layer of roasted potatoes, followed by a crispy and light Belgian waffle and a layer of Emmental cementing the foundation of two perfectly poached eggs and your choice of ham, crab, tomato, or an entire marinated portobello mushroom. Finally it is topped with a generous smothering of their house made hollandaise, turning it quite literally into a mountain just as the name suggests. Unless you're a competitive eater, there is a good chance you won't be able to finish the entire plate so consider sharing with your breakfast date. Of course everything else on the menu is worth trying from the lemon curd crepe to the melt-in-your mouth cinnamon rolls and pineapple iced green tea. Just don't try to do it all at once.

Neat little cafe! Food is very colorful and service is very good. Hot turkey and Gouda sandwich is amazing!!

  • Nicole T.

Solid breakfast/brunch joint, I can see why it is popular. Crepes are of the lightly cooked, slightly cakey type, filling was very generous, I give it a 7/10. Husband enjoyed his benedict a lot as well. Not a super standout place, but if you're already in downtown B-ham, drop on by. Service was fast and relatively friendly.

I was thrilled to read the reviews and find a spot to host a friend for our annual holiday brunch on Sat, 12/27. As my friend lives 2 hours away and we literally see each once a year, I was also thrilled that the cafe served mimosas! As we finished our breakfast and prepared to order a second mimosa, my friend asked our server for a refill on the hot water for her tea. Our server (named only "Bakery" on the receipt but was early 20s, black naturally curly chin length hair, cream pants, black shirt) rudely advised us that she could NOT refill the teapot as other people were waiting for the table and we could not stay "much longer". As a former restaurant owner, I understand the need for a table but also understand the need for good customer service and generating revenue from your already-paying clients. Her rude attitude and lack of professionalism do not belong anywhere near the service industry. Unfortunately, she has so poorly represented the cafe that I have vowed to never return - all based upon one poor person! And fortunately for a lovely spot up the street, we were able to provide some additional revenue while we continued our catch-up over even better mimosas!

Their breakfast savory crepes are great, also a fan of their quiche. Their sweet crepes are also really good - probably one of my favorite breakfast places. The service can be so-so as other people have indicated, but I've had worse. The food is the winner. The place is cash only, so remember that before you go.

I recently found myself walking around downtown Bellingham on a Sunday afternoon absolutely starving. Enticed by lure of all day breakfast brought me through the door at Mount Bakery. Perhaps it was the hunger speaking but the food was pretty good. The decor is a bit withered, but the space was clean. The server was really nice and our food came fairly quickly. If in the neighborhood again I would probably wander back in to check out the special. They take cash, visa and mastercard.

This weekend I tried their ham and cheese croissant and it was delicious! I was surprised by how filling it was. I also inadvertently bought a piece of their truffle chocolate cake from the store it was some of the best I've had.

I'd give this place five stars if it weren't for the spotty, unfriendly service. First time there, I was ignored and the people behind me were seated, then the people behind them (am I invisible?). Second time there a small table became available after waiting and I was up next, and the server wanted to seat me at a community table with a hard back, but because I have back problems, I said I would not mind taking the small table (with two chairs). She gave me a dirty look, but I seated myself anyway. The breakfasts are very good, but would like it if one could substitute English muffins for the waffle - just don't care for Eggs Benedict this way. Your coffee cup will never be empty because they are great about keeping it filled. Service is pretty fast, even when busy. Tip: Don't assume your customers like to sit in your uncomfortable bench/booths and try to be a little nicer/friendlier. If you get food to go, make sure you check your order before leaving. First time, I was shorted on the toast for breakfast. Second time, my salad was missing the carrots, sprouts, extra dressing and bread, so when I got home, I basically had just lettuce.

Since I flew into Seattle extra-late; I arrived in Bellingham extra-extra-late...not too far before dawn. Slept a few hours, and woke up with a body clock that was impossibly confused. My brother suggested a remedy---a walk in the morning sun down to Mount Bakery. What better cure for jetlag than powerful coffee? Sat outside on the sidewalk and ordered the recommended Eggs Benedict, served in a tower of sorts, with fried potatoes on the bottom, then half a Belgian waffle, some thick-cut bacon, two perfectly poached eggs, and a warm, pale yellow blanket of Hollandaise. My first Benedict, and it would be traitorous to say my last. Though the layers were a bit awkward, everything worked together in saucy harmony. Oh---the coffee was great, and refilled frequently. Sufficiently caffeine & sauce-buzzed, the dawn arrival time seemed a faint memory.

Found this little gem by accident; we parked around the corner to browse this cool used book store and stumbled in because of the hand-chalked sign outside. Once in, we were swept away by fresh baked aromas; croissants and fresh bread... Highly recommend: the grilled veggies sandwich on thick sliced, homemade wholewheat bread...even if you are a carnivore, you will like this... Also delicious: the turkey and cheese crepe with fresh avocado and home style potatoes...omgoodness... Such good comfort food and absolutely LOVELY people who inhabit the place and served us so sweetly.... one final note: the Cinnamon buns are made from croissant dough and are To Die For!! so take at least one or two or 6 home for later! PS. there is a wild 'Dr Suess' restroom with a fantastic topigraphcal map on the wall...must see!

Nice place, friendly staff. Great food! Best Bennie was worth two trips in a week. The Crepe with Lemon Curd was wonderful! Also liked the original art work on the walls. This place will be on my agenda any time I'm in Northern Washington.

Breakfast was amazing! They make eggs benedicts and instead of using english muffins they use waffles....so delicious. I also had an amazing breakfast crepe. Hands down the best Almond Croissant in Bellingham. Don't walk, run to The Mount Bakery Cafe for Breakfast.

You know how you get use to a place and don't venture out too much because you know you get what you like at the place you're use to? We'll this morning I felt adventurous, & decided to go to Mount Bakery. Now, I've been there before and it was delicious, but I've only had one item on their menue...Bellingham's Best Benedict. So this AM. I had a hankering for Bellingham's Best...or so they call it. When our breakfast arrive, the presentation looked nice, but a few things were missing from my friends plate, to which we asked and were told it was within the crepe...he still couldn't find it half way through...but that was really the least of our disappointment. Not only was the the food cold, but the potatoes were very old & undercooked. The eggs were overcooked & the ham (lunch meat, not breakfast ham) was soured, which I didn't discover until I was almost finished...yay for me. Anyway, when I started eating the food, I thought I could get over it & not complain, which I didn't (to the staff), which I regret. I regret it not only for paying for the bad food, but because it could have made a difference for all the patrons that were coming in as we were leaving...who were also going to eat and pay for less than what they deserved on their morning out to b-fast.

best eggs benny ive had so far. service was quick and friendly. was crowded as it was close to 10 and thats usually when they get really busy. when they got really busy the staff was still friendly. the group of people I went with seem like they really enjoyed their food also. nothing but smiles from my group I went with.

We went there on Fathers Day as a group of 12. They were so busy we almost left, but decided to stick the wait out. Thank goodness, because they had me locked in at the pastry case as you walk in the door. Although, I didn't get anything from the case, I am so happy we waited for our tables. I ordered the Classic Eggs Bennie. Large chunks of fried potatoes, 1/2 of a large Belgian waffle, ham, poached eggs and the hollandaise sauce over the top. The best Bennie I have ever had. All others I eat in the future will be compared to this.

Quaint little place that has wonderful food! I'm not a fan of eggs benedict but I took a friends recommendation and tried it...and I was really really happy! Although, I forgot that the eggs are runny on these things and I HATE runny eggs. But in the end it turned out to be a good thing since it halted me from eating the whole blasted thing! The place is tiny but very cozy and since they cook so close to where you eat there is this nice feeling in the air. My suggestion? Go early. We met at 8am (when they opened) and by 9am it was getting really crowded (remember, this is a small place). So why not 5 stars? Well, they only take cash and or check, and the lady serving us was friendly until we tried to pay: she snapped at us. We were trying to split the bill and she just went crazy on us. Not good. But still, I would come back. Maybe just next time I leave before it get's crazy (or just have one person pay).

Chaotic, friendly atmosphere. I debated between the special quiche and the benedict. Although I loved the benedict (on a Belgian waffle), either choice would have been a winner. My partner had the quiche and there was more than enough for him to share and to take home the next day. Thankfully, because it was delicious.

I remember the first time I went to the Mount Bakery; I didn't quite get it. It was my birthday, I was in a rush, the place was packed, so I just grabbed something from the display case and left unfulfilled. Now I know better and the Mount Bakery is a Saturday morning staple. If you get there a little early on the weekend, or anytime during the week, there will be a seat and you will receive prompt service. They are a "slow food" establishment, meaning coffee and water are self serve, and there is no rush to get you in and out. Believe me, you'll want the time to savor the gastronomic delights they offer. Crepes are light and delicious, and the quiche is not to be missed. It has a flaky, savory crust, and there are always special ingredients. Last week I had their Greek version, and the flavors were well balanced and potent. All soups are homemade, I had a spicy peanut with mint finish the other week that was amazing. Before I leave I always grab a sweet treat from the display case - you'll want to as well. Truffle cake, made of real Belgian chocolate, will melt in your mouth and leave you with true feelings of bliss. Make sure you give this place a shot! The staff are friendly and soon will know you by name.

My crepe was delicious. I would give that crepe 5 stars and return just to have another. Unfortunately my server was rude. She didn't even try and fake being nice to us and acted like we were inconveniencing her. I paid about $3.00 for one cup of coffee but I never could track her down for a refill. Am I supposed to get it myself? She could have told me that when she served me. Which is the last time I saw her. The very worst part of my meal was by far the potatoes. We all ordered them and everyone at my table agreed they were the precooked ones you can get in the grocery store. YUCK. They were bland and dry. I spent 13.00 on a crepe with potatoes and the least they could have done is cut up a potato and microwaved it. Anything would have been an improvement. My trip here was disappointing but I will say that crepe was good and the baked goods ;looked great. Maybe stick to the bakery section and skip the sit down breakfast?

A really innovative approach to breakfast food! This place has some of the best! Creative twists on all the old favorites make it nearly impossible to decide what to order, which keeps me coming back for more and more. A charming, unassuming sidewalk eatery but prepare your mind to be blown.

The worst eggs Benedict I have ever had. I've been several times and tried numerous things and the staff here is notorious for slow/bad service. I sent back my eggs Benedict because the eggs were cooked all the way through. I waited over 40 minutes for my first plate and when my second arrived 20 minutes after that it still tasted awful. Other things on the menu are good but don't order the eggs Benedict.... And don't expect good or quick service.

  • Jessie R.

The crepes were fantastic. I was a little worried that I would be ordering a gut busting grease bomb when I decided on the sausage and egg crepe, but it was surprisingly light and delicious. The service was a bit spotty, but it didn't ruin my Mother's Day brunch with my mom, so I guess I can't complain. I was a little upset, though, when my mom inquired about the special of the day. The waitress said they were out. My mom didn't hear her (it was loud in there!), and repeated, "you are out?". Then the waitress got a little surly and snarky and said "Yes, this has been one of the busiest days of the year. We are out." I thought the snark was uncalled for. My mom didn't seem to be phased by it, so I let it go.

I thought it was good, my husband thought it was the greatest. regardless, the coffee was good, the waitress was nice, the food was good (and they had goat cheese to substitute!) lots of delicious and tempting pastries. I will definitely come back... oh! as a side note (because it was really sweet) , my friend asked to sit outside- it was in the 50's - and the owner set up a table for us... though, I really wanted to sit inside, it was a sweet gesture.

The food was mixed, We had the crepes. I don't think the veggie patty was really my thing, and next time I will find something else. But my husband loved his crepe with sausage, and we both really like the place. BUT the coffee was so thin and tasteless, I didn't drink it. And Black Pearl was not open.. Not the best start to my day..

I gave it 4 stars but I am being nice. This place makes me sad b/c it has great potential but I would describe it as being INCONSISTENT. The restaurant is a great concept (organic, European, and creative) but I've been here a few times and the first few times the food was great, the last few times it wasn't. I'd like to see them step up their game and get all the food out hot, seasoned correctly, and don't forget the toast if the menu says the meal comes with toast--and toast it don't send out cold bread! I will say that their coffee, baked goods, and pastries are always really good.

The BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had. Bring it home, throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and it can't be beat! You have to serve it warm, but it is simply amazing...the way a cinnamon roll should be. Great coffee and hot coco too.

I am addicted to the breakfast sandwhich. I dont even try other things...although people rave about the crepes and waffles!! So why three stars? the service, while has gotten better, is slightly below average on a good day. And the accoustics are awful...especially when the staff yells! Also...I am very ANTI---get your own coffee. You are my server so serve it up.... I am always so torn....love the amazing food...cant handle the package deal....so now I get it to go...and I am in heaven!

Good service. Veggie eggs benedict (on a waffle) was fine but the sauce tasted too thick and the waffle & potatoes combo was a bit too much carbo-loading for me.

Oh, mouthwateringly fantastic! Have a crepe. Have a Belgian waffle. Have a breakfast sandwich (vegetarians, you can get a vegetarian breakfast crepe or sandwich with vegetarian breakfast patty here!!!!!!!). Have the shirred eggs or the soup special! If you're looking for good coffee and pastries, this is the place. If you're looking for a place to take your visiting parents for breakfast, this is the place. If you're looking for a place to wear your shades and watch the tour de france, this is the place. If you're looking to get a soup and scram, this is the place!1 Check it out. It's for your own good! and they cater....

I really, really want to like this place, for many of the reasons given in other reviews -- the people are (mostly) very sweet, the baked goods are pretty tasty, and their philosophy is one that resonates with me. But -- and here's the kicker -- their food isn't just inconsistent, it is consistently inconsistent. More times than not I've had issues with the food -- either the order was prepared incorrectly, items didn't arrive on time or at all, and on more than one occasion I haven't felt so hot after eating there. A friend of mine recently went with a bunch of people and a few of them got quite ill from eating their brunch food. So...in all fairness to my fellow yelpers...I would advise you to be cautious about dining there. Supposedly they have a new chef, so perhaps things will settle down in a bit, but for now I'll stick to the chocolate macaroons at the farmer's market, thank you very much.

A nice quaint place to grab a bagel or sandwich in town after a long day at Baker...OR a sweet place to get something in your stomach after a long night at some of Bellingham's finest pubs. They offer a good selection of pastries and bagels to keep you coming back and to give you something new to try each time you do.

This is very much like Old Town Cafe, but with more of a bakery twist. They serve wonderful espresso (they have Belgian Chocolate!), but the food is quite expensive. Expensive and worth it. They're waffles are amazing. They're omelettes are packed with flavor. The interior is cute and cozy and they also have an outside seating area, for when the weather is supreme. Local musicians sometimes set up shop inside to play the customers a little digestive tune.

  • Efrem Z.

We've gone for breakfast. You can have scrambled or poached eggs and a variety of other stuff as waffles which are charmingly made with the cook's grandmother's waffle iron. You can't have fried eggs, this is an unexplained physical limitation of either the kitchen or the cook. I never bothered to ask but perhaps grandmother did not bequeath to him the frying pan. Anyway, my wife had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I find the dish to be an offence to coronary health but to each his own; my wife loved it. I had the scrambled eggs and imagined them to be fried, these were delicious as were the bacon slices which were fried, not poached. The coffee was excellent and the feel of the place was very cozy. A sunny street view and a gaze into my wife's deep blue eyes made my Saturday. I heartily recommend the place. Bring cash, for whatever reason they unfortunately do not take cards, that is a stroke against them.
