The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Mmmm, I love Giuseppe's. I always get the mushroom pasta - linguine funghi I think it's called. I like it that much. Unless there's a really yummy sounding special. What set's Giuseppe's apart from a lot of Bellingham is that the atmosphere is truly upscale. It's the perfect place for a romantic date or special occasion. I put the price at spendy, but that's because I like to drink wine! The entrees are $16-30 approx. They'll be moving to a new location out by the Squalicum Harbor in mid-July, I'm excited to see the new place!

Giuseppe's is probably one of thee best Italian restaurants I have been to in awhile. It all starts with Giuseppe himself being actively involved in the entire restaurant function. He is an authentic Italian old school guy; charming, vivacious and makes you feel like part of the family. The ambiance of the place is great, and when you walk in, you see happy people at the tables. The staff is top notch, and I'm sure that this is due to Giuseppe's influence. As far as the food is concerned; an appearance of pure beauty on your plate, and an amazing diversity of flavors in every dish. My significant other had the Ravioli, and I had a steak, (name escapes me) which were to die for. I also ordered an Italian Margarita, as well as a delicious Martini which was recommended to me by the waitress (I love recommendations, shows passion). The entire experience was memorable! I can't wait to return again to this place.

I went to Giuseppe's this afternoon for lunch and was very pleased, particularly with the service! The atmosphere was nice - well-appointed but still casual. I had the Spaghetti alla Luciano (spaghetti with tomatoes and scallops) which was wonderful. The salad and bread were great. All in all a nice place to go for lunch. I'll have to try it for dinner sometime soon.

I've eaten at this restaurant 4 times now. Every time we've had amazing food. This place is always packed with locals. The owner can always be seen walking around checking in on the staff and the tables. I've come here with a group of friends and on date nights. Very romantic! Their bread is a must and addicting! It's Bread Farm Bread which is the best in the world if you live in Whatcom/Skagit County. The Lobster and Shrimp Soup is yummy. My favorite dish here so far is the Spaghettini con Cappesante (Scallops w/ Spaghetti Noodles). Amazing! Other great dishes are: Linguine con Gamberonie Pesto (Shrimp w/ Pesto Sauce & Noodles), Pollo all Parmigiana (so good! very authentic) and Arosto di Maiale (pork shank-ask for sauce on the side, meat just fell off of the bone!). The tiramisu was very good too. This restaurant is high priced but I think worth it. Mambo Italiano is amazing also and cheaper.

Another great evening at Guiseppes Al Porto, another anniversary dinner. The food was great, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We drive up from north Seattle to enjoy the location and the food. Worth the time and we will be back next year for the same date.

I had cruised by here a couple of times on other trips to Bellingham, but only recently had the pleasure of stopping in for lunch. I'm normally a little wary about these large Italian joints with there many rooms -- ala Bucca di Beppo -- but I was lured in by the World Cup banner. I had to catch the game and eat lunch at the same time. Kill two birds with one stone is what I did. To start we ordered two gimlets. These are some of the best one's I've ever had. The bartender muddled fresh limes instead of pouring out a pre-mixed sour. Yum, it's freshness was delightful. Unbeknownst to us, our lunch entrees came with a nice side salad tossed in tangy vinaigrette. So, keep that in mind if you're considering an appetizer. I ordered a special from their daily fare, gorgonzola with spinach, shrimp and scallops over linguine. Simply satisfying, I ate every bite with relish -- actually, I ate every bite as presented, no extra salt or pepper, no heaps of parmesan. My husband -- whenever he can -- samples gnocchi. He loves that stuff and can't get enough of it. He had three versions to choose from, so it was a challenge to decide. We found the gnocchi with duck confit to be one of the better versions he's had. After the gimlets, I wanted to keep the zing going, so I ordered a lemon tart. Ooh, what a let down, it looked and tasted like a dessert that came out of a frozen box. For dessert, you have better luck visiting the neighboring bakeries down the street for a more satisfying finish. If I could rate this 3 and 3/4 stars I would.

Friendly staff, good food, and a surprisingly small bill given the quality and ambiance. My wife and I had lunch there recently. I ordered the gnocchi with duck and a light tomato cream sauce. My wife ordered a pasta with shrimp, mussels, and scallops. Both were flavorful, not too heavy on the sauce, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. For desert, we had a lemon and pine nut torte. Desert was OK. I will return to this great Italian restaurant.

I love this place. The food is inspired. They have seafood that is not the corporate bore of Anthony's right on the water. The patio was open and I have to say the view is amazing. This may not be the first place that pops into your head for seafood but it should be. Now for the service. I have eaten in the bar and restaurant and find both to have excellent service. It is attentive without being bothersome. Everyone is very helpful. I also love that Giuseppe himself comes by to talk - always. I really appreciate an old world touch where the owner comes by to talk up the food and ask how everything is. This is a hometown place with great taste. Go there is you will be happy you did.

WOWZERS! An incredible, beautiful Italian restaurant in DT Bellingham. A friend took me here last night, and I haven't been to a more gorgeous, quiet Italian restaurant ever... [ FOOD ] Incredible. I ordered the special that day called the "Seafood Ravioli". The single, BEST Italian dish I have ever ordered from any Italian restaurant! Stuffed-crab&cheese ravioli with clams, mussels, and jumbo (or king) shrimp. Covered in one of the most delicious, interesting creme sauces I have ever tasted (can't remember what the waitress said it was). Even the bread and dipping sauce was spectacular! My friend ordered the Mahi-Mahi special. Unfortunately, he said he's had better. :( [ SERVICE ] Extremely warm, helpful, and accomodating. One of the best services I've ever received. Listen to their specials. They might serve something delicious that is not on the menu that definitely might be worth trying out, like the Seafood Ravioli I ordered. [ DECOR ] Wow. This place screams atmosphere, ambience, romance, warmth, style, and beauty. EXCELLENT choice for a date, without a doubt. Low lights, quiet romantic atmosphere. Candlelit dinner tabletops. Beautifully decorated dining area with hanging tiny, white lights along edges and window frames. [ PRICE ] Moderate to Expensive, depending on what you ordered. It seemed like the average price for a dish was about $10 - $15. The specials are a little more expensive, but definitely worth the try. [ BOTTOM LINE ] You must experience this restaurant!! I shall return, definitely!! My friends all live in another town, but when they come to visit, this is one place I am definitely bringing them to. In one word: INCREDIBLE!

Weird. There is just no other word to describe this food. The location is spectacular, the service is excellent and there's nothing exactly wrong with the food offerings, but there's nothing excellent either and the menu items are so off-beat, you will be left wondering why....after all, Italian food is best when there is no fuss or complexity so why are they trying so damn hard to elaborate on what everyone loves?

We were on our way to another restaurant at the harbor when we walked by this fine dining Italian restaurant with views of the marina. While we were looking over the menu, the owner came out, greeted us, and welcomed us inside. We noticed that they have some good happy hour deals and plenty of fine food to please our palates, so we stepped inside. Be sure to request seating in the bar area if you will be ordering from the happy hour menu. We failed to mention this before we were seated. Fortunately, our server allowed us to stay in the restaurant area next to the window with a view of the fountain on the patio and the boats docked at the marina beyond that. We both ordered a 3-course meal for $18 each. This happy hour fixe prix menu is only offered between 3-6pm. You have a choice of soup or salad for the appetizer, about five different choices for an entrée, and a choice of gelato or mousse for dessert. The service, atmosphere, food presentation and quality, restaurant decor and cleanliness were all top notch. This appears to be a more formal venue, so expect to pay more for the high quality of service and food you will receive. I was pleased with my visit, and I would definitely consider returning to celebrate a special occasion.

I can't say enough good things about Giuseppe's. I eat there frequently and the food AND service are nearly always awesome! I really have not had anything on the menu that I didn't really enjoy and sitting outside when the weather is nice is amazing with its views of the marina and fabulous sunsets. My only complaint is that I often dine late and I keep seem to miss some of the nightly specials as they sell out. Guess I'll need to start getting there a bit earlier.

I was disappointed. The food I ordered was good, however, it took over an hour to get food. We were there on a Friday night and it was busy but I would expect it to have better service. I do not recommend the mussel appetizer. They were not delicate. Also they were covered in too much thick sauce. My clam linguine was nice When we asked for a basket of bread while we waited, the waitress said they didn't bring it out until we ordered the meal which took half an hour. I have never heard of that in any restaurant. And the biggest disappointment, when one of us ordered a gluten free meal which we were glad to see was available, wheat bread came with the meal. When asked if that could be change for gluten free bread they said they had none. It makes no sense to sell a meal as gluten free and then serve wheat bread (large pieces) on the side. Over all, very disappointing.

How I heard of this place: When my sister was getting married, we were intent on finding a new and pleasing-to-all dining experience for her Rehearsal Dinner. To our delighted surprise, Giuseppe had just relocated to Bellingham (from Whidbey Island) earlier in the year, 2002, and we were its lucky recipients! Type of cuisine: American-style Italian cuisine. Ambiance: "Giuseppe's-Al-Porto boasts a spectacular view of Squalicum Marina at Bellingham Bay. Two large outside dining terraces spell west, softened by a beautifully landscaped lawn and feature the magnificent summer sunsets. Giuseppe's newest location captures the best of this beautiful waterfront location while still maintaining the charm and warmth of Italy. Giuseppe's dream and lifetime of international experience has created over 5500 square feet of truly convertible and charming space." What I ordered: Wishing to celebrate my mother's birthday, my husband and I decided to treat her and my father to dinner al porto, and Giuseppe's came with fond memories. Three of us enjoyed the Early Dinner special ($18 per person for a three-course menu), starting with the Zuppa del Giorno: Wild Mushroom Soup with Paprika Oil. My husband strayed from the Early Dinner menu, in favor of larger portions, and ordered the Insalata Cesare a la carte ($7), Fettuccine Alfredo with breaded chicken ($16), and a delectable dessert. My father chose the Pollo Alla Picatta: chicken breast sautéed with artichoke heart, lemon, capers, white wine and butter, served with pasta and seasonal fresh vegetables. My mother and I each ordered the Salmone Alla Griglia: grilled balsamic and rosemary glazed wild king salmon with roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed seasonal fresh vegetables and fresh herb salsa verde. For dessert, two orders of the Budino di Cioccolato, homemade chocolate mousse, one Spumoni Gelato for the birthday girl, and a Torta di Cioccolata ($8) for my husband, flourless chocolate cake, caramel drizzle and vanilla bean gelato. What I loved: The Torta di Cioccolata! That moist cake, abundant caramel, and soft chocolate lace drizzle. Mmm. Mmm. Good. Why I loved it: Outdoor seating on a beautiful Pacific Northwest summer day, a post-dinner walk along the marina, celebrating family time. Priceless. Cost: Average to high ($18 per three-course early dinner)

Wow! Came here with 11 people. Most of us ordered off the special menu. I ate the beef tenderloin with scallops. Amazing. We had an array of appetizers and all of them were fantastic. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking. Water and marina right outside of the restaurant. I would definitely come here again.

Had dinner here with my husband while staying at the Bellwether Hotel one night. Neither of us had been to what we would call a "fancy" Italian restaurant before. This was definitely a huge step up from something like Olive Garden, really not comparable at all. The wait staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The view of marina was a plus. My husband had the pork chop dinner, which was fabulous. I had the Chicken parm, trying to play it safe, and would not recommend that. I would definitely try one of the seafood dish's if we ever get to go back. The chicken parm was tasty, but I saw other dish's coming out that I wish I had tried !! I saw dish's coming out loaded with delicious looking seafood. We had an appetizer, don't remember what it was called some sort of saffron ball with meat inside served with marinara. The whole experience was fabulous. though I would call it a "fancy" place, it was very comfortable, not stuffy at all. Just Italian food like I have never seen it before. I hope we get to go back some day !

We got put in awkward seating, it was nice being in the side room as it was quieter for everyone else, but we were right by the door, so it was hard to focus and have a good conversation being able to hear the kitchen and the waitresses constantly. Took a long time to get food, as we watched people come in after us, order after us, and receive the same food we ordered long before we got our food. Ordered coffee while waiting, and it was filled with dregs. Once we got our food, it was lukewarm and seemed like it had been reheated. We will not be returning.

Had dinner on March 25 ordered two the specials. When delved after a long wait to the table was totally raw and not even close to medium rare. The wait staff did not seam to care. When I asked if the chef had a thermometer the waiter said they are to expensive and cost $100. When the food came back its was cooked correctly but they had replated the dishes. Grew up in the restaurant business and appreciate good service and quality food so it really has to be bad to spend the time writing a negative review. Bottom line, $80+ for two specials and one salad, bad service and raw food. Save your time and your money skip this place.

I found out why this restaurant fled my home, Whidbey Island, to reappear up north. Here we have competition (Gordon's On Blueberry Hill, and Christopher's) that would knock this place to the bottom. I never tried it while it was here and I am glad now. This past weekend , my husband and I went to a theatre event in Bellingham and we wanted to have a fine dinner out. Yelp reviews usually steer us right , but this time we made a big mistake. We made reservations for 6, it being a Friday, which was a good thing because there was a line outside to get in. Even so, we were put right next to a back door to the patio, and servers and guests without reservations were whizzing past continuously and it would have been very chilly if we weren't having warmer weather than usual. The staff was Very Good. If I judged on the friendliness of the staff alone and the attention I received , even from the owner, then i would have given this place five stars. The atmosphere was pretty and would have rated a 3-4, not a five, due to lighting and seating arrangement on the plus side and uncomfortable chairs and noise on the negative. I noticed that people with no reservations were offered the deck (chilly) and saw several groups turn away and leave. But the food is mediocre at best. I ordered the Mahi Mahi special, which was recommended by my waiter as "really really good". It was described differently than what came. I expected some kind of veg (my husband had five disks of zucchini), "a creamy polenta and grilled fish with creamy sauce. Presentation was pretty, but my sauce was a smear around the hockey puck of fried and bland what passed for polenta but didn't taste like anything but grease, and was topped with undercooked fish and nearly raw broccoli . I like sushi but at that price I decided to tell my waiter. He was sweet, but the owner swept in, asked what was wrong, took my plate, poked my fish, and whisked it off to the kitchen. It must have gone under the broiler because it came back with charred little black and withered broccoli and a new hockey puck under fish that was decently cooked, but in the end also lacked seasoning. My husband had chicken parmesan which was dry and his spaghetti was blah with plain red sauce, bland again. He requested I make my own delicious spaghetti the next day. So I decide to keep a happy countenance , enjoy our show and live on coffee and dessert. I ordered the cannolis . Again a pretty presentation, a couple of rock hard cannolis and not any expected apricot sauce. The hockey puck, that I only ate a few bites of , sent me to the ladies room several times during the evening. Now you have my true story. Choose carefully. Bellingham has an excellent Japanese and an excellent Korean restaurant. We won't be going back to Giuseppes

Went last night for Mother's Day with my mom, boyfriend, sister in law and my two nephews (6 & 2) and it was delicious! I forget the name of the dish I ordered but it was a pesto pasta with pine nuts and prawns. So. Good. The food did take a little while to come out and people who were seated after us were getting their meals first but that was no big deal for me. Giuseppe himself came over to our table multiple times to make sure everything was going well and was playful & very friendly with the kids. Our server was attentive and also very friendly.

I didn't enjoy this restaurant... Bread salad and wine were fine but I ordered cannelloni and it was mushy and said it had prosciutto in it but was literally ground beef in a mushy pasta shell. The waiter asked me if I didn't like it. I was honest and said I didn't and he didn't offer to remove it from our bill. So now I have to go to Trader Joe's and find myself some dinner because we are up here for a weekend getaway. Serious disappointment.

We went here for a graduation dinner with a party of about 20. The waitstaff did a reasonably ok job serving us. Considering the size of our party and the popularity of the date, we were more than understanding of the circumstances and willing to put up with less-than-stellar service. The food was good. Not great, just good. But here's the kicker. After we finished eating, the owner approached us and asked us to leave. Apparently, he was behind in his reservations and he needed the table. We were engaged in wonderful conversation over wine and enjoying the company of our loved ones. Having just paid the $1,600 bill, I was appalled by the fact that I was asked to leave. When I made my displeasure known, the owner (Guiseppe) replied extremely rudely. I will never return.

Went on a Saturday night for a date with my husband. We are not from WA and just wanted a really nice dinner out. The reviews I read were mixed, but we decided to try it anyway. We went to an early dinner 5:30. We were seated in the middle of the room with large tables all around us. As we were waiting for our meal they decided to rearrange the table directly behind us by pushing it. The squeal from the table legs were very loud and uncomfortable as they kept pushing the table. There were two men they could have lifted the table to avoid the distraction. I wanted a meal from an item only offered as a side. They accommodated my request very easily. The meals came out with large portions and they were good. Good, not fantastic.

Dined on the patio last night with our two daughters and there wasn't a bite that we didn't savor. Arancini was delicious and something different than the regular appetizer fare. Husband had ribeye special and I had chicken piccata. Lemon sauce was nice and creamy not oily like some lower end Italian restaurants. Linguine Gamberini and chicken parm were hits with my girls. Tartufo di Caff was a light coffee dessert that just hit the spot! Two thumbs up.

We just had our son's Rehearsal Dinner at Guiseppe's with its lovely marina setting. From the beginning Guiseppe worked with me, offered a varied, delicious menu, and accommodated 51 people with grace and charm. When we arrived the day of and saw the U-shaped table arrangement and fresh flowers we were so pleased. The best was yet to come! Appetizers and wine on the terrace; impeccable entrees including Chicken Parmigiana, Linguine and Prawns, Salmon, Pork Chops, and Cheese Ravioli; champagne with the dessert -- excellent, abundant servers. Our guests could not get over the Rehearsal Dinner at Guiseppe's! My husband and I are beyond pleased. It was the perfect kick-off to a very beautiful wedding! Thank you, Guiseppe!

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Consistently delicious food. Portions are a little big but I'm not complaining. Definitely order a halibut or prawn dish. So far the last two specials we had blew us away. Some people turn their nose to this place? I think they've proven themselves as "can't go wrong" date night in Bellingham.

This is where our family has gone for the past few big holiday dinners. Giuseppe's has a fantastic holiday buffet menu and the service is top-notch. This place offers an opportunity for us to eat suuuuuuper good food, while being attended by friendly and numerous servers, and we don't have to do any preparation or cleanup. Everybody wins! I'm amazed every time at how fresh and amazing the food is even though it is served as a buffet. The dude Giuseppe is always around greeting guests or helping the servers and cooks, so that probably makes a difference in the freshness, taste and presentation of all the wonderful food. This place is a true family business and I'd recommend it for any fine-dining event.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, RSVPed but it wasn't even necessary as it turned out to be quite dead. We waited at the front for maybe 5 minutes, finally the owner came out and took us to our table. He was incredibly kind, even pulled my chair out for me. Our waitress was one of the best waitresses I have ever encountered and for that she was tipped well. She wasn't overly pushy, but asked how we were and made sure we had enough to drink and anything else. I have read some of the reviews. It is true that you pay for the view, the food is good, but coming from a large Italian community, I have high standards for Italian food. I had the Ravioli del Nonno and the sauce was excellent but the ravioli left a bit to be desired. Regardless, we will likely go back.

UGH. My biggest problem with Giuseppe's is the extremely high prices for the extremely low quality food you get. I had dinner there with a friend - Party of 2 - and it was over $70. Granted, that included 2 glasses of wine and dessert, but I still think that's going more than a little overboard on pricing. I ordered the veal and it was TOUGH. How do you even make veal tough?? My friend ordered basic lasagna and it looked like they'd just microwaved it. Again, terrible food and extremely high prices. I won't be back.

This was probably the worse service I have ever gotten at a restaurant. When we walked in for early dinner we must have stood by the door 5 minutes waiting to see if someone was actually working up front or if we should peak around and find someone to help us. Finally my husband peaked around the wall and found the hostess. We asked if we should follow her, she interrupted us and asked if we had a reservation, which we did. We got a nice table for two, but I was in the back. Our waitress for a uniform was wearing yoga work out pants, pretty sure that is not apart of the uniform, this was a little disappointing for a higher end restaurant. The waitress was nice and some what attentive in the beginning when it was slow. But once it started getting busy the attentiveness was gone. Our bread basket never left our table through out our whole meal. The bar tender was the one asking about our drinks, not our waitress. After we finished dinner, we sat and waiting for our table to be cleared for 20 minutes. We both went to the bathroom at the same time hoping they would realize. Eventually she passed out table onto someone else to bring our dessert. The food was pretty good. Although I work in a restaurant myself and know nights can be rough and you cannot please everyone but I was very displeased on the service that is expected for a nicer place like this.

I'm writing this review for my husband, who came here with some business associates for lunch a few weeks back. First off, my husband loves food, loves to be fed and was really looking forward to eating here. He actually texted me after his meal to tell me how horrible it was. He ordered a steak. It came with some veggies. There was no soup or salad. The steak was terrible - very fatty. He said it was a horrible cut of meat with lots of gristle. The veggies on the side were nothing special. And the meal wasn't exactly cheap. Reading thru the reviews it seems this place is well-loved. Maybe it was an off day, but based on his experience, we wouldn't be going there again.

Delicious food, friendly wait staff, beautiful view of the marina. The patio does not have heaters like in California, but when it gets chilly, the staff offer blankets. My wife had the grilled salmon, which was very good. Probably the best cooked salmon that we had in Washington. I had the day's special seafood pasta, with the gluten-free pasta. Excellent dish. The pasta was perfectly done, and you couldn't tell it from regular pasta. The dish was tomato-based, with clams, mussels, calamari, and prawns. It's a bit pricey, but I would return.

My review was deleted on Urbanspoon, which urged me to post a review here as well to make sure diners know exactly what their getting before entering the place! We entered the place not knowing if somebody was supposed to be a hostest or just walk in, decided to walk in. After finding the hostess, we were sat a the bar dinning area, noticing that our soon to be waiter almost ran into us. Within 30 seconds of being handed the menu and seated, our waiter fills our water glass and tells us about the very intriguing "Specials" of the night (he didn't seem enthusiastic about them at all). He then continued to ask if we were ready to order (after looking at the menu WHILE as he told us the "Specials" or if we wanted to try any wine... we literally had 90 Seconds to look through their menu and choose, then asked if we wanted a few minutes without even pausing for an answer.) We started with the Antipasto for 2: 1. The waiter dropped an olive on my shoulder and nonchalantly said "Oh, sorry" and blamed it on how the platter was served. 2. Served us our bread the same time as our appetizer (any restaurant that claims to be FINE DINNING would know not to.) 3. He pushed my bread plate with ANOTHER small plate as I was taking a bite of my bread. RUDE AND RUSHED! 4. The olives tasted SO bitter it wasn't even edible. It felt like my pallet was violated. 5. The Balsamic & Oil bread dip was bland as were their bread. [The owner himself noticed the olive and pickle juice that spilled on the table and covered it up with a napkin for us, even though he was entertaining friends INSTEAD OF OUR SHITTY WAITER] For our entree we had the- Chicken Piccata: 1. Dijon butter broccoli was DISGUSTING! I don't know who came up with that, but not only was my broccoli not cooked, but it was TERRIBLE. I cannot express enough how much I hated that when paired with a lemony cream sauce and chicken (Perhaps a much heavier meal with steak would be better) 2. I was given pasta DRENCHED in either olive oil or 10 lbs. of melted butter. 3. I've had enough of this dish, but I requested another plate of broccoli that was properly cooked sans Dijon Butter. The Special: Lobster Ravioli with Tiger Prawns The prawns were cooked very well, still tender and not tough at all. Kudos to the Yellow Curry Cream Sauce. However, the ravioli it self couldn't justify the price since there was a minuscule amount of lobster meat AND flavor. We ended by simply being handed a dessert menu rather than being asked like a proper fine dinning establishment would, having a chat with Mr. Giuseppe himself about our experience and very disappointed stomachs. Best Italian Place in Belllingham. Can be pricy. The new location of Giuseppe's I think has made this restaurant even better. Food: The menu can change seasonally so if there are specials I would definitely try them. I generally start with the anitpasto misto for two. Can not go wrong with the selection of meats and cheeses. If they have their smoked salmon appetizer I will get that and salad as my meal. My favorite pasta dish on the menu is Fettucine Giardini Naxos- I got this once when we had our girls christmas party here and never went back to anything else. Sounds kind of strange that it is a spicy yellow curry sauce, but it is amazing. I highly recommend trying this- if it is too adventurous go with the lasagne, Linguine con Gamberoni e Pesto, or Linguine alle Vongole. The flourless chocolate cake is delicious if you have room order this.

This place is perfect for a romantic evening out with your significant other. We drove up from Redmond, and boy was it well worth the drive. We'd reserved our seats using Open table, however I hadn't given a last name, so it appeared for a brief second that they couldn't find me. However they didn't let that be an obstacle to our evening at all. We were seated right next to the window overlooking the marina. Service was prompt and courteous. I had the special for the evening which was a king Salmon on a bed of Risotto and buttered Zucchini. It was orgasmic to say the least. The Chicken Parmesan which my girlfriend ordered was brilliant as well. Dessert was a chocolate cake with hazelnut ice-cream and Cannoli, both of which were heavenly. All in all, Giuseppe's made for a very memorable Christmas eve and I definitely recommend it if you are in the mood for Italian and are in the area or are willing to drive.

Their food was fantastic. The service was great, and if I recall correctly the owner was walking around the floor asking their patrons how their meal and their evening was going. I love that. The restaurant is gorgeous, and there's a very welcoming atmosphere about it. It's a little pricey, hence why the time I went I went with my family, but their food more than makes up for it.

My parent's took my fiance and I here to celebrate our engagement. We had been here one other time about two years ago and had a bad experience with our waiter (2 hour dinner when all said and done!) so I was a bit hesitant to come back. The food though is really great so I wanted to give it another try. Our waiter was awesome and really knew what he was doing. He was very attentive but not overbearing. He had great suggestions for the wine list and what dishes he enjoyed. I ordered a pasta dish with prawns and a creamy pesto sauce, it was fabulous! The wine was great too and they were generous with their pours. The atmosphere is a little bit upper notch for Bellingham and is perfect for a Birthday or celebration. It was dark when we were there but the views are gorgeous of the water during light hours. Great atmosphere.

They've moved by Bellingham Bay, about 6 months ago, and closed the quaint and historic downtown location. Same great food, but in what appears to be a larger restaurant with more dining square footage, though the old location also had numerous rooms. The seafood linguine with large scallops and shrimp, and with pesto and tomatoes was really nice, done just right, and not overly rich. They offered draft Boundary Bay IPA for $5 - very reasonable. Overall, it's still on the pricey side, but you always get great quality, and this place fits the special occasion... or business dinner venue.

The wine list is large and they will help you find the perfect glass or bottle to match your meal. I never got the chance to actually dine here, since although I made my reservation more than a week in advance via Open Table (and received a confirmation the day before via email), when we arrived for our reservation (after driving up from Seattle), there was a handwritten note on the door that stated they were going to be closed on Sundays through the fall starting today (the day of our confirmed reservation). Very disappointing to not receive any notification from the restaurant in advance about this. Poor customer service.

My wife and I had brunch on Mother's day 2013. The cost was $26 each (Senior rate). We were seated in an accessory dining room. The table and chairs at our table were made from metal and looked to me like garden furniture. A piece of paper was on the seat of each chair. The chairs were very hard on our senior bottoms. The brunch itself in our opinion rated a *** out of *****. We have celebrated Mother's day at Giuseppe's several times previously and the edibles were this time, in our opinion, of considerably lower quality. When the check came, it included a tip charge. With our credit card payment, we left a written comment about the deterioration in food quality and a comment about the unexpected tip charge. We never received a follow up from Giuseppe's.

We tried the new Giuseppe's last night! Overlooking the harbor on Bellweather, the new location lacks some of the character of the original downtown restaurant, but boasts simple elegant decor in a classic yacht harbor setting (not to mention, ample parking). But Giuseppe's is all about great food and outstanding service. The three of us slipped in just before 6pm and while two of us ordered off the regular dinner menu, our friend Dan enjoyed a fabulous three course ravioli meal on the early bird special for only $16.95! We split a Caesar salad that was crisp, and featured a tasty, albeit, fairly ordinary dressing (Full disclosure: I don't really consider it a Caesar Salad unless it includes anchovies and the dressing is prepared fresh at the table, and toss the salad in your presence with premium anchovies). We shared our entrees: a fabulous grilled prawns dish (one of the evening's specials) and an equally wonderful clam and pasta dish highlighted by a classic butter, garlic, wine and herb saute. We'll definitely be back!

I am in Bellingham for the first time in several years and needed a comfortable place for dinner; I found it here. Since I was alone, my wine comes from the by the glass menu. I had a very nice Sangiovese. My pasta was warm when it was served and tasted wonderful. I ate outside with a view of the boats in the harbor. The service was very efficient and friendly, even though I was in jeans. I hope I get back up here to try more of their menu.

We had the Thanksgiving Buffet. It was excellent. The turkey had a wonderful flavor which I cannot identify but it was unique and delicious. I could not begin to even sample all the extraordinary choices but the seafood salad was one of the most excellent I have ever tasted. Who know tiny octopus and squid could be tender and tasty, most places they are tough or overcooked. I will return just for this salad! I also had a wonderful pinot grigio and and disappointed I cannot open their wine menu to find out what it was so I can buy a bottle. The place was packed so I guess many already know what I learned - this is a Bellingham treasure!

Guiseppes is a great addition to Bellwether Way. This family owned restaurant came recommend from the Hotel Bellwether staff. I sat and the bar and received wonderful service. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the wine list and guided me to a delicious full bodied red. I have the seared tuna off of the appetizer menu and was very pleased. It was a generous portion of tuna accompanied by baluga lentils and arugula. It was a unique mixture of flavors and quite filling. Rumor has it that the happy hour is not too shabby either! I look forward to coming back when the weather is nice to enjoy the outdoor seating on the patio.

He is charming, funny, and makes us feel very welcome and that is a touch beyond any service I've experienced in Bellingham. It adds a nice touch of true Italian authenticity and hospitality :) The servers are also attentive - a rarity in Bellingham! Dinner is pricey but the happy hour deals are definitely worth coming in for! There is a curry seafood pasta that I must come back for! Sounds strange but it is scrumptious. Also has a more upscale feel than other Italian restaurants in Bellingham so I like to be presentable when I go in. Sort of like what I imagine a yacht club would feel like....

This is a late review, but it's been on my mind to post something for a while... When my grandma passed away right before Christmas, my entire extended family flew into Bellingham for her service. I was tasked with finding a restaurant for us to eat together after the service... no small task for a family of foodies and also non-foodies :) I called Guiseppes and asked to see their private rooms, explained what we wanted, etc. and they said they could host us on 2 days notice. I've got to say I was nervous I'd hear complaints given how cranky everyone was anyway, but when the 15 of us arrived, the room was set up perfectly, there was someone pouring wine right away, and Guiseppe himself came in with appetizers and to check in on us. The dinner service was flawless, the food was awesome -- and best of all, it was a lovely and perfect intimate dinner that gave everyone a chance to reflect and enjoy spending time together. Hugely recommend this restaurant for bigger dinners like this one -- it was flawless for my family and I'll forever be grateful for these guys helping to make a bad day much easier.

Came here on a busy Friday night and were seated in the walkway between the tables and the kitchen. I was a bit apprehensive because we seemed like we were in the line of fire, but everyone gracefully walked around us as though it was a normal seating arrangement. I had the special for the night which was a halibut dish with a garbanzo bean sauce of sorts....and it was unbelievable. Guiseppe himself even came over and greeted us. We will definitely be back again, and hopefully they will have some amazing specials that day too!

Second best italian place i have found so far in Bham. However, the atmosphere is amazing. if you want a romantic date, this is the place fellas. You can even get away with dressing up some without looking like a doucher. The food is good, not life changing, but still good. You will be more overwhelmed by the ambiance than the food. There are about a thousand items to choose from, i swear the menu is as deep as a chinese place. I will without a doubt be eating here again, however since i am a more casual guy and this place drips of romance (seriously, you sit there wondering how many people are going to propose around you... this can frighten a single guy like my self) i will be filling most of my italian needs at the other really high rated place in bham.

SO DELICIOUS! My fiancee took me there, yesterday, for my birthday / to propose, and it was amazing! I may sound biased, since it was a great birthday, but I didn't even know he was going to propose until the end, and the waitstaff was great. The caesar dressing on their salad is SO light, and delicious. I had their Riesling, and it was one of the best that I've had. My fiancee had their steak with portabello mushroom, gorgonzola, broccolini, and potatoes, and it was ridiculously good. Especially since he hates anything remotely related to broccoli, and even HE liked the broccolini! I had their fettucinni with yellow curry sauce, and seafood, and it was YUMMY. Tiramisu was also very, very delicious. Everything came quickly, we were well taken care of, and they reserved a very sweet corner table overlooking the water, for us. Loved it. Will definitely go again!

Save yourself a trip. I've had Chef Boyardee Spaghetti that was better than the food at Giuseppes. Service was slow, my food was luke warm and our wine tasted like it had been open days before. The restaurant is freezing inside...my wife had to put her gloves on. Seriously, this restaurant is not worth the premium they charge and is certainly not worthy of some of the reviews posted here. My guess is the 3 and 4 Star posts are from employees or the owners friends.

From the outside, and even up until you sit down, this place looks like a fancy italian restaurant. It had the makings of a great dinner, the servers were adequate and even the owner made an appearance. But once the food was presented, it felt like your at Olive Garden. Scratch that, I think Olive Garden might be better. Sorry guys, but its true. I really don't understand why people love this place so much (possibly due to lack of choices). Its not like the food is horrible, it just wasn't anything amazing.

Giuseppes presents itself as an intimate, upscale Italian restaurant. The only accurate part of this is that it's upscale - read: EXPENSIVE. The service is horrible, and today I had a lunch that was absolutely disgusting. It started with a plate of wilty lettuce. Nothing else, just lettuce. Then came a chicken dish with a lemon cream sauce, and it tasted like cheap chicken breasts (not pounded as they should have been, so they were thick and tough), topped with Campbells cream of mushroom soup mixed with ReaLemon juice. Absolutely awful, and maybe even a bit "off" as I'm feeling pretty nauseous. We were there about six months ago for dinner and had the most atrocious service imaginable. We thought we'd give it another try for lunch today, thinking maybe that night was a fluke. Well, once again the service was very bad and the food even worse. We definitely won't be back, ever.

Giuseppes is presented as top flight Italian. They have the decor, the sharply dressed wait staff, the wine selection, the menu. They have tasteful fonts and pretty lights. They've got enough people working there to do service the way it is supposed to be done. However, with all that presentation, the food is not really that special. It's good but not great. It's a little better than Mambos but suffers from the same illness: appearance over execution, style over substance. And perhaps that's my bias. If a grumpy old man dumped a plate of pasta in front of me in a grubby room on a rickety table with a torn red and white checkered table cloth - but it was the most amazing sauce I ever tasted - that would be my favorite place in town. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but they bamboozle you into thinking it is something special with all the visceral chaff. This place is not incredible, it is not WOWZERS! Every time I leave Giuseppes, I feel like they owe me the $5 difference between what they sold me and what I was served. When I spend my dollars on Italian, my money goes to D'Annas or it goes to Seattle. It's popular, it's romantic, it's for people who don't know any better.

Giuseppe's is one of the more elegant restaurants in Bellingham. The atmosphere is relaxed for a very large place. Lots of staff to try there best to give diners an experience that they will enjoy. On some occasions the service can be quite slow and at other times they are overly attentive. The food is usually good. There are a lot of choices on the menu. Some traditional Italian dishes are mixed with some modern adaptations. We ate there last night and had a pleasant meal. I started with the Minestrone soup and quite enjoyed it. The vegetables were al dente with a little crunch to them. The flavors were a nice blend with a little spice. The salad didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. The insalata caprese looked a little heavy on the balsamic vinegar. The seafood ravioli was good. The plate had an assortment of muscles, clams and scallops that were a meal in themselves. The crab and cheese stuffed ravioli were quite rich and filling. I had to take them home for another day. My wife had the chicken piccata and she enjoyed it. The broccoli was cooked just right and added a great color to the plate. We skipped desert and didn't miss it. Giuseppe's is not inexpensive. There are constantly available $25 off coupons available. They don't make a dent in the price of the meal. Not sure the food/atmosphere/service are really worth the price. There are a couple of other restaurants in town like Mambo's that make the dining experience a little more fun. I prefer Nana Rosa's for a more folksy approach and much lower dollars. For the price of a meal like this, you can go up to Vancouver and have a unique experience. The food is okay here. I don't always see the value.

I came here recently for a late business dinner. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location on the water is beautiful and the patio was perfect for the summer evening. My only gripe is that the staff starting closing the restaurant early while we were finishing our meal. At first I thought we were making them staying late but on the way out I noticed they were still officially open for another 30 minutes. Ill still be back!

It feels like the kind of place you would spend $30 per person on dinner, but it's actually very affordable compared with most restaurants that are nearly this nice. My husband and I recently dined here with my husband's aunt, who was visiting from Texas. It was a weeknight about 8:30; not very busy. She and I had the chicken piccata, which was inconsistent. The flavor was good, but some pieces were tough and over-cooked and some were just right. She and I had the same experience. When she mentioned it to the waiter, he said it was probably the gristle,...no, that was not it. My husband had the linguine with clams which he said was fair, just bland. Waiter didn't offer coffee at the end of the meal but just brought the check. We have been here a few times and have found it to be inconsistent. I can really like my meal, and my husband will be under-whelmed or vice versa. The view is nice. I like the decor but my husband feels it is cold (will admit it is not a cozy type place). My other complaint is that during the winter, though it says it serves until 9 pm, that a number of times when I called sometime after 8 to check to make sure they were open, they said they were already closed. My guess is that it was slow and they were closing early. I understand that but feel if that was consistently happening, especially during the week, they should change their posted (on their website) hours. Due to the cost and inconsistency, not sure we will go back again anytime soon.

Wonderful Italian food - definitely the best in town. The environment alone is worth checking it out. They have multiple rooms, so it feels like a giant mansion. There is a pianist playing classics in the foyer and drapery lines all the doorways. It is very lush, elegant and rich. The food matches on par. Try the gnocchi - best food I've had in a long time!

Open just ten days, and it shows--on a Wednesday night, only part of the large space was being used because they didn't have enough waitstaff to cover more area. The jitters resulted in our name being taken for a table "in about 20 minutes" and then us being forgotten about after we headed for the bar. When finally seated, we received inconsistent service, including rude under-his-breath-but-we-could-hear-it talkback from our waiter who disliked being good-humouredly chided for taking a drink order from my three companions but not me, and then once he got my order, forgetting to fill it. Too, after all that, he got the food all mixed up. Did he ever apologize for any of the mistakes? No, in spite of the fact that we were having a lot of fun and he could so easily have charmed himself into our good graces. The food: eh. The dressing on my salad had no flavor, it was just oil from the top of the dressing vat, and I had to doctor it with the balsamic vinegar from the dipping pot they brought for the bread. The main courses were overall uninspired. My linguine vongole was the blandest version of this dish I've ever had. Ditto Nina's chicken picatta (where was the lemon?) Anne's pasta special had a heavy Alfredo sauce base that was not described by our server, that was grainy from a non-melting cheese, and Mary's grilled ahi looked less like ahi than beige local tuna treated with a pink dye. Italian food of this low caliber would not survive in larger, more sophisticated town than Bellingham. Rounding off the mediocre experience were things like the bread service. Ours came very late with but two small pieces per person in the basket (the bread is only about 2" in diameter). As a result we emptied it in under a minute, and it was never refilled. And too the dipping sauce--balsamic vinegar and vegetable oil. That's right--pale, clear and flavorless, not even olive oil. How watered-down, un-Italian is that? Pretty room and great views will keep almost any resto alive in this location, and certainly the service will improve as the staff learns how to work together as a unit. But unfortunately if nothing changes, you'll never go there for the food.

We had a fabulous meal at Guiseppe's this weekend! Despite having several large groups there, my husband and I got great service; prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. Spot-on recommendations from Sam, who was an excellent server. We opted for cocktails instead of wine, and our martinis were fantastic! We especially liked the Sidecar...so we had two :) Onto the food: My rigatoni with spicy Italian sausage was out of this world. It was served piping hot, was spicy as promised, and the portion size was huge. It came in a tomato based sauced with chopped broccolini and Parmesan. Warmed me to my soul. I loved it. My husband's prawn dish came with linguine pasta and a pesto cream sauce that we kept sopping up with the perfectly doughy bread that was provided. Prawns were large and well cooked, and the sauce was rich without feeling too heavy. This is easily the best Italian food Bellingham has seen in a long time, as well as one of the best restaurants in town in general. I can't wait to go back. FYI, there's a large outdoor seating area with a gorgeous water view for those beautiful sunny days!

I'm adding an update to my earlier review based on our last visit. My wife and I went to Giuseppes for a rare date night without the kids. It was very busy, but we were able to get a table outside with a view of the water. Our server and the food were fantastic. However, based on the owner, Giuseppe's behavior, I had to change my rating. Our evening out turned out to be not as relaxing as we had hoped due to Giuseppe berating his service staff in front of the customers. He is always very kind and attentive to customers, but the way that he talks to his staff is uncalled for. I understand he wants things done right, but to chew out his staff in front of customers is over the top. I had seen him do it one other time when we had a special event for 35 people there, but I thought he was just having a bad night. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. All in all, the food is great and so is the service, but due to Giuseppes attitude towards his staff, I had to mark it down.

Came here at 5:30pm on Sunday and had their early dinner special for $20 for a three course meal. I ordered the salmon and it was quite good. I found the complimentary bread a crust a bit too hard. But no complains. The dessert was also very sweet. The appetizer and the main course was excellent. As well I ordered the cherry soda, to my surprise its not bad. Its not the bottled soda, it was made fresh. The decor was nice with a nice waterfront view. Apparently, it was not very busy and we were one of the 3 tables at that time. Later at night or before we left, it got a lot busier. The place is very big and the seatings are very spread out. The place can accomodate a really big group. I would definitely be coming back.

Food is really good, but totally agree with commends about the way Giuseppe treats his staff. On numerous visits I've heard him belittle and berate them. He is polite to customers, but you get the feeling that's only because you're forking over your dough.

Great food! It was our first visit. The only reason I give 3 stars....the hostess had a skirt on that was very short, let's just say we saw more than we cared to see at dinner :/

We stopped in on a Sunday just after 3:00pm, and had a great three-course meal for $20 each. The Sicilian-style food was great, service was good, and the ambiance was nice with a waterfront view. We all started with the salad and enjoyed it. The ingredients were fresh and it was a generous portion. For the main course, I had the spaghettini and the others had the salmon. I loved the pasta - it came with a rich sauce with complex flavors, pine nuts, and more. My family loved the large portion of King salmon - it came with a tasty sauce of basil, balsamic, lemon, and more. We all cleaned our plates. For dessert, I had the gelato and they had the chocolate mousse. Again, both were great. Overall, a great first experience! PS: try the cocktail Mike's Pear Wink. It is made with pear vodka, lemon zest, and more.

Sat outside and enjoyed a gorgeous view! The food was delicious, dessert was phenomenal and staff was friendly. I prefer more white sauces with spice and had a hard time finding those options.

Had a wedding reception there. Was very disappointing. Salmon was dry , and my lamb was all bones with very little meat. Giuseppe was not there so I am told the quality goes down when he isnt overseeing what is going on. For the money we spent I expected much much better

I came here for an afterwork drink with a friend and it was really quite lovely. The sun was going down and it was warm enough to sit outside. We didn't really go for dinner, but I ended up getting an appetizer and some dessert--along with some really good coffee. It was such a relaxing experience. The service was great--the poor girl had to come back several times because my friend and I were gabbing so much, we kept forgetting to look at the menu (yes, I am THAT annoying person). They also have delicious desserts. They were very knowledgable about their food and she recommended their flour-less chocolate cake--and that was just heavenly! I hope to get out there again soon. It's definitely a great place for a date or for a night of girly-gab:) It's easy to rack up a sizable tab there--so buyers beware:)
