Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Excellent food and excellent service. Not sure why there are so many 1-star reviews. I have been eating here for years and not once have I had a problem. The food is great, always ready when I come to pick up, and delivery is fast. I have never had an issue and their customer service is great. They don't charge me to use a credit card and I've never had any issues with using one for a small amount. The portions are generous and for the price they're a great value. You're not paying for a 5-star dining experience so don't expect 5-star quality. It is what it is, great Chinese take out with a great delivery service.

Just got some take out from here last night. When i got home from picking it up i had a misseed call from them, and my phone was ringing from them calling me a second time. I forget to get the bag with the appetizers in it. They sent a delivery guy out right away and the meal was complete within 10 minutes! Excellent service! We had Mongolian beef and a beef/green beans dish and both were excellent. Lots of good ginger in the Mongolian beef. The interior of the restaurant is very neat and clean and the people are friendly. I'll certainly be back for more.

Great freshly made food and fast and courteous service at a very affordable prices. I always get chicken wings and the ginger chicken but I keep trying other dishes and so far nothing has disappointed me. Their wings really are amazing. Very tasty and crispy. The ginger chicken is authentic and with the perfect amount of ginger. It's not overpowering hot or sweet. It's just right. The generous portions and quality of everything is fantastic. It shows that this family really cares about providing a great value without sacrificing taste or quality. Jin is my new go to for chinese takeout!
(4)Adam N.
Best Chinese in the area by far. The Won Ton soup is full of Won Tons instead of mostly broth like most Chinese. The General Tso's is huge chunks of chicken with a light covering. I'm used to small chicken chunks and too much breading. The chicken was nice and tender, too.
(5)Shirley S.
Unpredictable service. First time we got too much rice, tiny amount of the meats, while the second time we barely got any rice but a bit more of the meat. If we were to compare this restaurant to all the other Chinese restaurants from NC or WA, this store would lose all the business without a doubt.
(3)M L.
Not as good as Men at Wok but pretty solid food at reasonable prices. Reliable delivery. Glad to have them around.
(4)Seth L.
Easily the best take-out Chinese in the Burlington area. Everything that I have tried from them is delicious and the portions are huge. While it is still Americanized Chinese food, the quality is vastly superior to other take-out places in the area. The staff is also very friendly!
(5)Jonathan M.
Oh jins where do i begin? You give me massive helpings of delicious dishes and cheaper than the local competition too! The filling in your crab rangoons had me and the wife arguing over the last one! lol, truly a diamond in the rough, and with the competition you face in a mile square town, i'd say your doing a damn good job! please keep up the stellar service!
(4)Scott M.
Great food, piping hot and very authentic. incredibly friendly folks who run it. Absolutely delicious. A new favorite and very close to Burlington. They deliver and pickup.
(5)Sean M.
I'd like to think of myself as a Chinese food connoisseur. I travel a lot for work so I try to frequent a Chinese restaurant every chance I get. I had the appetizer combo with Crab Rangoon, spareribs and chicken wings. The portions were on the smaller side. The Crab Rangoon was creamy and very tasty. I only got 1 chicken wing which was braised and good. The spareribs were not the best I've ever had but mixed in well with the combo plate. Overall I'd come back for another combo.
(4)nika b.
The staff are very friendly and super quick. Its an open kitchen so we got to watch the cooks whipping up our combo plate dinners. They have a large selection of American Chinese restaurant favorites so each of our group got to order our favorites.
(5)David U.
Very disappointed in the sweet and sour chicken. And the dumplings we're also bad. I would steer clear of this place if you want some good Chinese food.
(2)Adam B.
We order from here all the time. The food is reasonably priced, and the help is very friendly. One day the store was closed and I was heading in to grab a 2-liter of soda, because the beverage has a minimum of $10 for card but the restaurant doesn't. I noticed they were closed and the owner walks up and opens his doors just so I can buy a 2-liter. Who else does that?!? Food is always satisfying, and our wait is never really that long.
(5)Adam P.
While visiting UVM with my daughter we were struggling to find a restaurant when we stumbled apon this establishment. I will say I'm glad we stopped in. The staff was very friendly and the meal portions were impressive. And I got away with a much lower bill than I was expecting. Stop in. You won't regret it :)

I was staying in Colchester and thought I'd try takeout from Jin Chinese Restaurant as I always enjoy checking out Chinese places I've never tried before. It's tucked away in a little plaza in the downtown Colchester area, and while it doesn't immediately look like much from the outside, the family who runs the place inside was very friendly. To get the most for your dollar, get something off the lunch special menu, all of which are served with white rice or pork fried rice and your choice of an appetizer, either an egg roll, crab rangoons, or chicken fingers. There is a very large selection to choose from but I got the Mongolian beef with pork fried rice and three crab rangoons - all for $6.55! The food was prepared quickly and in huge portions. If you're looking for good Chinese food at great prices, check out Jin Chinese Restaurant.
(3)Emily A.
Great food but can be really late with delivery times. I don't mind waiting an hour if I'm told I'm going to be waiting an hour. But don't say 20 minutes and then show up an hour later. That being said I love the dumplings and the chicken fried rice very delicious.
(4)Charlotte J.
This place is bad. At first, the delivery people couldn't find our building and we ran around our campus for 20 minutes trying to find his car. When we check the bill we noticed they over charged us by 14 dollars and when we called told us they couldn't give us our money back until tomorrow. Once we got our food we noticed that didn't give us utensils. We then started eating our food and were underwhelmed. Everything tasted like apples or was not good tasting. Avoid this place!
(1)Chris H.
I give this 5 stars given the area. Other than Single Pebble or Joyce's there is no real decent Chinese and American/Chinese food that is affordable and convenient for take-out. I find Jin to be both of these things. Every time I've gone in there the food has been delicious and served in large portions. Do not pay attention to the previous bad reviews. The food is good, always made fresh, with higher quality ingredients than other Chinese places in the area. The best part is that they change the oil they use frequently so everything that's fried has a nice golden crispiness to it. I've never tried the lo mein but I'd bet it is a little on the greasy side (this is chinese takeout...). It's still my favorite quick, chinese take-out place in the area (BY FAR) and is comparable to lots of hole-in-the-wall american/chinese takeout places I frequented living in Brooklyn. Great place, I've never gotten delivery from them just because I have a car and would rather pick it up fresh so I can't speak for the delivery side of things. Crab rangoons are awesome as are the dumplings. Hot and sour soup has some seasoning that separates it from regular hot and sour soups.
(5)Lucy W.
They delivered me a completely wrong order and then refused to send the correct order because they were about to close. Not only that but the food they gave me was soggy and cold, and most importantly NOT WHAT I ORDERED!
(1)deanna c.
Couldn't get zen gardens cause I moved so I decided to get JIN's instead. I waited over an hour and by the time the food got here it was cold. The food was okay but definitely not as good as zen gardens. I know the weather was horrible and I don't blame the delivery guy but I was disappointed and the guy who took my order got my address wrong.
(3)Brad S.
I thought it was okay. I would have given it a 4, but I ordered chicken and broccoli, not just "broccoli" There was almost no chicken. I also don't want to eat long stems on the broccoli. I thought the fried rice was good, and the wonton soup was excellent! I might go again, but would try something else.
(3)Debra C.
Decided to give this restaurant another try after a year of staying away after a "bad" experience. Was close and relative up for visit. Ordered the lo mien noodles, chix fingers, veg fried rice and veg egg rolls, all to share. GREASY, GREASY, GREASY. Lo mien noodles very slimy and oily tasting with hardly ANY VEGGIES. Chix fingers and veg egg rolls still greasy even after blotting. Veg fried rice bland tasting with not many veggies. What is wrong with them? Do they need a new cook? Not consistent in their product. I hope they read these comments and IMPROVE as nice family run but sad to say, think this is the last time I will try them....
(1)Ruby D.
I order take-out from Jin Chinese all the time...its sort of my late night, I'm-too-tired-to-cook fix. All of the appetizers are high quality and I like to order an assortment and make it a meal. I'm particularly impressed by the tastiness of their vegetarian starters--I recommend the dumplings and bean curd soup. The actual entrees are less appetizing because they have a tendency towards greasy rice. On that note, some people are looking for that heavy, greasy chinese food that seems to characterize the majority of American restaurants. The portions are HUGE, especially the inexpensive combo plates (I feel like I need to reiterate myself...HUGEHUGE). On a side note, the Beverage Warehouse is next door. Its so convenient to swing by one and then the other--delicious beer and hot chinese food taken care of in one go.
(4)Sarah S.
The crab rangoons are very good and the portions are huge but the pork fried rice is so bland with no flavor and the chicken with cashews is not good either, also lacking flavor. Too bad
(2)Nicole T.
Mixed feelings here but I will explain my star rating. I ordered several items for my first time trying, some very good and others, not so much. Boneless spare ribs: Huge chunks of meat, not your usual burnt up bits. Yay! Egg rolls: Doughy with not a lot of filling. Thumbs down. Shrimp fried rice: BURNT. All my thumbs and toes, down. Had to throw this one away. Sad face. Fried dumplings: A lot of dough and a bit soggy. Meh. Crab rangoon: Holy hip hop hooray! This is my favorite Chinese food menu item by far and Jin delivered! The portion size was huge, the rangoon itself overflowing with cheese, what a delicious surprise! Considering I often just order these for dinner, I will definitely be back again and again. Huge score in my book! Portion size on both the good and bad dishes, two thumbs up. Ample food!
(4)Fabian F.
Great menu, they have more/better options than the typical Chinese take-out joint. Dishes I can recommend: -Tofu in Black Bean Sauce -Chicken in Spicy Tea Sauce -Crab Rangoon - you can get this anywhere, but Jin's is better than average
(5)A L.
This restaurant has generic american Chinese food, but their service has always been amazing. The people working there were friendly and fast... Until tonight. I tried to order takeout (10 min for delivery) and before tax the order came to 9.55. There is nothing about pre tax delivery minimums and they have always delivered in the past, but the american girl who answered the phone tonight was rude and refused to deliver without raising the price (before tax). As I stated before there is no mention of needed to reach the minimum first and this girl was a brat and should be fired. Needless to say I will no longer support them.
(1)Chris M.
Great portion size, however, the general Tso's chicken chunks were too big to wolf down in one bite! Tasty, though. Singapore noodles were very good and had lots of cummin and little shrimps. Egg rolls were huge, decent flavor, but I have to agree with another reviewer that said the dough was a little too thick for an egg roll. Only disappointment was the fried rice. It was really bland. Bottom line: it's the Stalin of Chinese restaurants: "quantity has a quality of it's own." And I am perfectly happy with that.
(4)Susan D.
Ordered one of the lunch specials: Gen. Tso Shrimp, which comes with rice (I chose fried) and a pork egg roll. Positive: LOTS of rice, generous portions all the way. Also a nice surprise not mentioned in the menu, a hefty pile of steamed broccoli came with it. First complaint: as someone else mentioned, the egg rolls have WAY too much dough and are tough. Not to mention the duck sauce comes in a container too small for dipping. Second complaint: While I held it flat "because of the sauce" (as instructed), the bag was filled with sauce, the rice was completely soaked with sauce. Let's just say it was tricky eating out of the container and the plastic bag had to stay around it. 3rd: pork fried rice had really not much in it that I can see. A little bit of egg and pork, but that's it. 4th: The shrimp batter was completely flavorless, and soggy 5 minutes after they handed it to me. Bottom line: I threw away most of it. That's $7 I'll never get back.

Went here based on the reviews here on yelp and was not stoked. Greasy chicken, limp veggies, and overcooked rice. Maybe we caught them on an off night?
(2)Heidi M.
This is 4-stars of Americanized Chinese deliciousness. I was delighted when I took my first bite of the sesame chicken combo plate. The crispy chicken was lightly breaded and sauced (not drowning like most) with a hint of orange peel and a mildly spicy finish. The white rice was a perfect temper. Some bites of broccoli were better than others. The egg roll was not greasy, but did have a great crunch. Delivery clocked in at about an hour to downtown Burlington. Solidly the best Chinese take-out place in town.
(4)brad l.
I really wanted to like Jin because there aren't many Chinese options in the Winooski area. First time I ate here it wasn't that good. A few items were okay and a few were bad. I went back again to give Jin another chance. This second visit wasn't any better and I decided to throw out 3/4 of my meal. The Generals chicken was mostly breading and didn't have much taste. The rice didn't have much pork or anything for that matter. The egg roll was tough and like the Generals mostly breading. However the prices are fair and the portions are huge. That's not enough to make me go back for a third time
(1)Melissa O.
The amount of food that you get for price is great! The pork fried rice and crab Rangoon were just OK. The chicken that they use for the sesame and general Tao chicken could be improved upon.
(3)J And J A.
Great place! Never greasy and always lots of food with great prices! We order here when we have a late night at work and don't feel like cooking! You should try this place if you haven't yet! :)
(5)Charles C.
Got food poisoning. Many of my friends have gotten food poisoning from a broad variety of their dishes. Do not go here unless you want to play some dysentery roulette!
(1)Michael R.
Decided to try a new place for Chinese takeout. Was severely disappointed. It took doctoring at home to make leftovers edible.
(2)Katrina M.
This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. The large portions of our meal were excellently flavored and delicious. We had the Ma La Lamb, pork fried rice, egg rolls, and boneless spare ribs. I think the lamb may be a new favorite dish, well balanced between the richness of the sauce with the spiciness. So glad we needed delivery, we looked for a new place and found it. Delivery was fast and the food was piping hot!
(5)Philip P.
Not bad. Tons of rice. Kung Pao had a nice flavor and good quality. General Tso's was nice and crispy. Crab Rangoon filling was wicked tasty! Very reasonable prices for lunch at just over $5.
(3)Matthew R.
Great Food, Great Prices, Home Made We got take out from there for the first time last night, I got General Tso's Chicken combo with Eggroll and PF Rice. The chicken was good quality and spicier than most of the other chinese restaurants in the area (Good in my opinion) I would put my chicken about equal with a strong medium salsa as far as spiciness goes. A Co-worker says it varies in how spicy it is depending on the day. The Eggroll was alright, it was smaller than many eggrolls from other resturants, more the size of a spring roll. Flavors were there but was definitely heavy on the wrapper and light on the filling. The duck sauce that came with the meal was definitely homemade (or at least fooled me). The Sauce was Thick and taste was spot on for what a duck sauce should be. The PF rice was good, you could actually taste the rice in it and wasn't completely drowned out by the fry oil and pork. it was a little light on the egg, but that could have been luck of the draw. My Girlfriend got the Sweet and Sour chicken. The Chicken has a very light and fluffy batter, fried perfectly to a golden brown, not crunchy. She got at least 9 chicken fingers and a heap of rice. she got her combo with crab rangoons for a side, there were 3 good sized rangoons which made us excited as we love crab rangoons. so much in fact we ordered an app of 12 crab rangoons. The Rangoons where smooth and creamy inside, cooked perfectly. If you like Super-creamy filling these guys are for you. Our whole order came to $22 and change for the two combo meals and the app. There is enough food in each combo for 2-3 meals for the average person. The restaurant only has two tables inside and I think its primarily a Grab and go or get Delivery! The place was clean and the staff was friendly and pleasant to order from. Can't wait to go back and try some more stuff from these guys.
(5)Jason H.
Finally, there is a great option for takeout/delivery Chinese food in Winooski. Great food, friendly service, awesome prices, big portions. This place is a huge WIN. Don't miss. If you're looking for great Chinese, fast, (they start delivering on March 15, too), check out Jin Chinese.
(5)Lessy Y.
Normally the food has been good in the past, but found meat in a vegetarian dish. Not pleased.
(2)Kate C.
A really fantastic new entry to the Winooski dining scene. It is a tiny space but clean and bright, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I got the Combo Plate: Kung Pao Shrimp with rice (white or pork fried) and choice of appetizer (I got Crab Rangoon). The dish was nice and hot and chock full off fresh celery, carrots, shrimp and peanuts. The rice portion was wayyyyy too much, but it was good. Three huge Crab Rangoon were included, all for about seven bucks. Can't wait to go back and try something else!
(5)Garry W.
Called for delivery to hotel. Took over an hour to arrive. Dumplings were very good BUT the meat in the Tangerine Beef and General Tsao's Chicken were so tough and dried out that you could not eat it. Also, the egg rolls were very tough. Would only order the dumplings again.
(1)Emily A.

Went here based on the reviews here on yelp and was not stoked. Greasy chicken, limp veggies, and overcooked rice. Maybe we caught them on an off night?

This is 4-stars of Americanized Chinese deliciousness. I was delighted when I took my first bite of the sesame chicken combo plate. The crispy chicken was lightly breaded and sauced (not drowning like most) with a hint of orange peel and a mildly spicy finish. The white rice was a perfect temper. Some bites of broccoli were better than others. The egg roll was not greasy, but did have a great crunch. Delivery clocked in at about an hour to downtown Burlington. Solidly the best Chinese take-out place in town.

The amount of food that you get for price is great! The pork fried rice and crab Rangoon were just OK. The chicken that they use for the sesame and general Tao chicken could be improved upon.

Great place! Never greasy and always lots of food with great prices! We order here when we have a late night at work and don't feel like cooking! You should try this place if you haven't yet! :)

Best Chinese in the area by far. The Won Ton soup is full of Won Tons instead of mostly broth like most Chinese. The General Tso's is huge chunks of chicken with a light covering. I'm used to small chicken chunks and too much breading. The chicken was nice and tender, too.

Unpredictable service. First time we got too much rice, tiny amount of the meats, while the second time we barely got any rice but a bit more of the meat. If we were to compare this restaurant to all the other Chinese restaurants from NC or WA, this store would lose all the business without a doubt.

Not as good as Men at Wok but pretty solid food at reasonable prices. Reliable delivery. Glad to have them around.

Easily the best take-out Chinese in the Burlington area. Everything that I have tried from them is delicious and the portions are huge. While it is still Americanized Chinese food, the quality is vastly superior to other take-out places in the area. The staff is also very friendly!

Great food, piping hot and very authentic. incredibly friendly folks who run it. Absolutely delicious. A new favorite and very close to Burlington. They deliver and pickup.

Got food poisoning. Many of my friends have gotten food poisoning from a broad variety of their dishes. Do not go here unless you want to play some dysentery roulette!

Decided to try a new place for Chinese takeout. Was severely disappointed. It took doctoring at home to make leftovers edible.

Not bad. Tons of rice. Kung Pao had a nice flavor and good quality. General Tso's was nice and crispy. Crab Rangoon filling was wicked tasty! Very reasonable prices for lunch at just over $5.

Normally the food has been good in the past, but found meat in a vegetarian dish. Not pleased.

Called for delivery to hotel. Took over an hour to arrive. Dumplings were very good BUT the meat in the Tangerine Beef and General Tsao's Chicken were so tough and dried out that you could not eat it. Also, the egg rolls were very tough. Would only order the dumplings again.
