The tap house is pretty good overall. Decent pizza and moderately good beer selection. We are not talking mule bar or farmhouse or threepenny beer selection but a decent representation of some Vermont brews plus a number of others out of state. The ambiance needs help though-- it is way too bright and plain. The decor could use some inspiration. Love the Vermonter pizza with bacon and maple syrup. Sandwiches are decent too. Pizza-wise I would still pick flatbread or verita downtown over this place. Still one of your only good choices for a wide selection of brews in Williston.

We got take out, and I tasted 3 different pies: Mad About Meat, the Vermonter, and Solar Flare. The Mad About Meat is pepperoni and sausage - pretty straight forward and delicious! The Vermonter has apple and maple syrup on it, which I personally found too sweet. More bacon, please! The Solar Flare had dried tomatoes which were pretty powerful. I would like more garlic flavor. I found their pizzas good, not great.

We had a great experience coming here for an early dinner, but based on the menu we could see how the kitchen could easily get back up on a busy night. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch pizza, because how could you go wrong with that, and the answer is- you can't. The pizza was fantastic and came out pretty quickly. We also had the fried cheese curds which were a bit of a disappointment since they were weirdly bland, still served with marinara but also had shaved parmesan. Turned out it needed the parm for salt, and curds aren't supposed to be mozzarella sticks they are their own thing and should be treated that way. Their list of local brews was a big hit for hubs, and it is nice that they tell you what is on deck... To keep you coming back. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Good food, great service, nice ambiance, would have been 5 stars if switchback extra pale was on tap. Thanks Jon!!

Great place. Local and regional brews I On tap. Real wood-fired pizza with fresh ingredients and an artisan appeal. Great local atmosphere. I make it a point to visit each time I'm in the area. It's great to find a place like this that produces a consistent result--well worth a visit!!!!

We had a couple beers at the bar. The tap list was varied with good quality selections. The bartender, Elsa was knowledgeable about all the different beers and very friendly. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

If I could give zero stars I would. The restaurant is not even half full and they sit me by myself in the middle of the dining room. That's the first bad. The second bad, the waitress has the personality of mud. Doesn't even say hello. Takes about 7 minutes to walk over and even ask me what I want to drink. At that point, I said I was ready to order. Third bad, I ordered the chicken parm sandwich with mixed greens. Right there, out in the open is a BUG IN MY GREENS! You couldn't have missed it! Apparently, they do not wash their greens here. It took me a while to get my inattentive waitresses attention, then when I did, I asked for sweet potato ff and a side plate asap to get these greens away from me. About 5 minutes later, she brings my side plate. Another 5 minutes later, she brings me regular fries, proceeds to the kitchen, shows them the plate, and the kitchen staff are laughing. And here we are, I've written this entire review, sat here and only have eaten a few bites of my sandwich because it's terrible. Burnt tasting sauce, and no waitress! Don't waste your time here.

I'll start with the only positive comment, the Beer selection is good... otherwise this place sucked in every other way possible. The atmosphere is like an up- scale cafeteria, but doable if that sort of thing doesn't matter. The place was nearly empty on a Thursday night (the word must be getting out). My wife and I were one of three couples at the bar... the other two were already eating. It took the bartender, a tatted-up hipster, 10 minutes to acknowledge us. He didn't walk up to greet us, just asked from the other end of the bar what we wanted. He brought our drinks and took our order, but never checked on our food which took a long time to come out He also disappeared for about 10 minutes w/o asking anyone if they wanted something. My wife ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with fries. The fries were oily and appeared to have been dropped in the fryer a second time to warm up. The wrap itself was almost void of chicken and flavorless. I had a Mediterranean pizza with canned olives, hardly any artichokes and waaay too much cheese (yes, you can make a pizza with too much cheese). Like the wrap, it was also flavorless. Unless you are really easy to please, avoid this place.

First time at the Vermont Tap House and I'm impressed. Friendly servers, excellent choice of beers on tap, clean restaurant, awesome wood fired grilled pizzas. I had the Fiesta Pizza, hubby had the Solar Flare Pizza. Fried Calamari was a bit tough and rubbery. A tall glass of Long Island ice tea and ice cold Citizens Cider rounded out the meal. We'll definitely be back. There's a LOT of pizzas on the menu that I MUST try!

The service was quick and good which is something I really appreciate. There are a lot of local beers and I was able to sample a few before deciding on which one I wanted. I went with a group of 5 and they were able to accommodate us easily and split the check. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch wood fired pizza and it was really good. Overall everyone was satisfied. They even let my group stay and talk for a while after we paid.

This is my go-to place to eat out!! Every time I've gone, the service has been absolutely fantastic. All the servers I've had have been friendly, helpful, attentive people. I've tried the poutine and like it a lot, but I also don't consider myself a connoisseur or anything. The Vermont pizza (bacon, apples, cheese, maple) is incredible, as is the buffalo chicken pizza. Their fried dough dessert is also great! There is a fairly extensive beer list, but not much in the way of cocktails, which is fine. It is a TAP house, after all! All in all, I would recommend this restaurant 100%

Let me first say that this restaurant has a great beer selection and good food. If you go there to eat, drink, pay and leave, this would be 4 or 5 star. Our waitress was very attentive and efficient. I just hope you never have to utter the words: "Can I speak to a manager?" here. Your nice evening turns into a teeth-grinding nightmare, as you can see when you read the all lower reviews like this one. My wife has a caffeine sensitivity and usually carries her own cola for a rum and coke when we go out, since few restaurants carry it. We pay the same price for the drink and have no issue with that, or even if they insist on pouring and keeping the soda behind the bar. We asked the server if they had caffeine free cola and explained that if not, we want to use our own. She went back to the bar and came back to tell us that the bartender said it was ILLEGAL! Maybe this is just a personal peeve of mine, but it drives me nuts when someone blames the state for their own stupid policies. The state of Vermont says I cannot bring alcoholic beverages in an establishment that has a liquor license. I have talked to the state liquor control and the attorney general's office about this, so I think I know the rules. So I ask for the manager. It turns out it was THE BARTENDER! (Oh come on, I'm thinking) She tells me that "The State" does not allow outside food or drink into restaurants. I look around my table where I am there with 3 toddlers who are all chowing down on food and sippy cups their parents brought. That irony was completely lost on this person. When I tell her that it is not illegal; If it is their policy, then just say "It is our policy" and be done. Nooooo, she has to defend her false premise over one lousy bottle of soda. I would have just walked out then, but I was stuck there with a party of 12 hungry adults and 3 kids celebrating MY BIRTHDAY. What a nightmare. Being a bartender, she could have recommended a non-caffeinated drink that she could have make. Instead, she walked away with a "whatever". Grrrrrr. I tried to be nice and send a note through their web page, but either their web page mail does not work or they do not read it, because I got no response. I am a big fan of good beer, but I can say I will never go back to this place again. But I am sure all the owners and managers think "Whatever". If you decide to eat here and have problem here, just get up and walk out. Do not ruin your evening.

This is our go-to place to eat, both takeout and eat-in. For reference, we're a young couple with a small child. I'm a foodie; my husband is a beer-lover. First, the food: 4 stars. I really enjoy this wood-fired pizza. The crust is crispy-chewy with amazing smoky blackened bits. Love it. The toppings are the best, tons of local ingredients and if you order off the "specials" list there are lots of creative combinations. The plain red sauce, as noted in other reviews, is rather bland, but just add salt. Not a deal breaker. The barbecue sauce and the "white" sauce are both great. The cheese is....cheese? It's tasty. Whatever. Yum. The apps and salads are nice, though not mind-blowing. Again, lots of local ingredients, and great wings. The booze: 4.5 stars. Best beer selection outside of downtown Burlington. We HATE driving into downtown Burlington in the evenings, so this is a huge draw. Minus .5 stars for overpriced cocktails (but that's par for the Burlington course). Experience: 5 stars hands down IF what you're looking for is a great place to take a kid that is not a chain restaurant (I really REALLY hate chain restaurants). The seating is spread out so there's plenty of room for a high chair. The staff is friendly and not eye-rolly about babies. Our kiddo eats anything so he is happy too. It is not loud so it's easy for us (the adults) to have a relaxed conversation while occupying the child with pizza. Average = 4.5 stars, rounding up because I am feeling generous today and want to balance out what seem to me unfairly critical reviews.

Delicious fast courteous. I will come again. Friendly help. We ordered a salad but realized it was large so they split it up on two plates before bringing it to the table

Went in to order take-out and staff was friendly. We waited in the seating area so we could get the food as soon as possible. We ate in the car in their parking lot. The calamari was cold. It did taste good though. The pizza was hot and tasty but not light sauce as we asked. Worth checking out for yourself but be prepared to spend some money

Great beer list. Many local VT brews to choose from. Beer menu does not list prices and servers do not tell you if a beer you ordered comes in a smaller glass than the standard pint. (But still costs as much) We ordered the cheese plate for appetizer. Good quality ingredients, but $12 for 3 small pieces of cheese? Pizza was pretty good. Nothing spectacular but not bad at all. Service was decent, hostess and waitress were pleasant. Overall this place was ok, but I thought it was a little too pricey.

Gave it one more chance. Had been there 3 times before. This was the last and final time. Exceptionally poor service, watered down salad and below average pizza. Staff could not care less when you voice your concerns. Also....the most disturbing....what is up with all the FLIES. It was like eating in a dumpster. NEVER AGAIN...save yourself the stomach ache!!

I really try not to give one star reviews..but..I just can't think of much that I felt was good about this place. I'll start with the limited pros I found: Menu is larger than a lot of pizza joints so there's that. Some of the pizzas were pretty creative. Beer menu isn't the best in the area but it's a pretty comprehensive one. Of course this is only if you go for beer. We did not. Pepperoni is smoked--I think it's VT Smoke and Cure but I could be wrong. I didn't catch it. It's good though. The bad: The decor is offputting in a way. You feel like you're walking into an Olive Garden or some other generic chain fast-casual dining. I know the rustic farmhouse look is a bit overdone here, but it seems to work, and for a "taphouse" it would really seem to be better to have something a bit less sterile. The pizza. We did our standard "pepperoni pizza" test, and we ate it..but hunger is the best sauce. The crust is so thin it can't support any of the toppings, and you end up with a floppy soggy mess. It doesn't help that they cut the pizza like American flatbread (once down the middle, then straight retangular slices). They cut the slices to be about 1.5-2 inches wide but 8 inches long so it's nearly impossible to eat. When you get to the bready part of the crust--the part with no toppings, it's got this strange baking-sodaish flavor. I couldn't even eat it, and I love pizza crust--especially woodfired. The sauce wasn't very flavorful and barely present and overpowered by pretty bland cheese, of which there was entirely too much of for a very thin crust that couldn't support it. But the pepperoni and basil were goo. So there is that... for my money, Folino's is the only game in town for wood-fired pizza. If you can't get down to Shelburne at least head into American Flatbread. For a tap-house, it fails on both decoration and offerings compared to some other joints in town. As a pizza joint ...well... for my money, Folino's is the only game in town for wood-fired pizza. If you can't get down to Shelburne at least head into American Flatbread.

So yummy!!! Sometimes the wait for your meal can take awhile but it is definitely worth it. The servers are friendly and they have a great drink list- beer/cider. I would recommend this place for sure!

Excellent service, great beer list, and some pretty good pizza. This is the only place I've been outside of Howard's Pizza in Great Falls, MT, that rocks with cutting square pizza slices - LOL

So bad. SO BAD. My sister, mom, and I ordered two sandwiches and a salad for lunch. 50 minutes later our food came out. The food was barely edible (think very little ingredients, soggy bread, and lettuce). Our waitress was MIA. I'm a former waitress and rarely complain but this was an awful experience. Stay away.

I had been staying at the Marriott hotel down the street and decided to order some take out Saturday night. They guy who answered the phone was very polite & asked to place me on hold, being a Saturday night I assumed they were busy & had no problem waiting. I ordered a steak & cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries & he told me it would be a half hour. I showed up at 9:20pm (30min later) and the place wasn't busy at all, I think maybe 4 or 5 parties total in the place including the bar. I get back to my hotel and open up my food and it looks great but ice cold! I think my food had been ready and sat there for a good 20mins before I picked it up. If I had been told the correct time to pick up my food & it was hot or even lukewarm I would have given them another star.

  • Matt N.

Unfortunately, our food really sucked. The caesar salad had these gross little rubbery croutons, & the pizza literally had black burnt crap from the oven all over it, rendering it nearly inedible. Positives: great beer selection & good service.

  • William F.

The Tap House is really big, so the atmosphere is a bit lacking when they aren't really busy. Also, I've usually sat around the edges, but I recently sat in the center of the dining room and its a bit bright. Still, the pizza is pretty good as are the salads. Maybe its because this location used to be a Ponderosa and its surrounded by big box stores, but I'm particularly impressed by their use of local ingredients wherever possible. This isn't some boutique artisinal restaurant, its meant for families needing a break from all the shopping malls. The beer list though. Wow. I would bet you couldn't find a better selection of VT beer on tap anywhere in the state. This is truly ridiculous for a pizza place in the suburbs. Also, they have mead and three local ciders on tap.

Went here once. Beer menu was good, server let us sample several then disappeared. Flagged down another server to have her come take our order. Same thing when time for the check. Pizza was just ok but service was sorely lacking. Wouldn't go back nor could recommend anyone else do.

We've been coming regularly (about once a month) for a few months now, and while I would have given it 5 stars up until quite recently, this has slipped for me. Allow me to explain: one of the reasons that we loved coming here was because the food was pretty good and we could get a flight of beer. It's nice to be able to get a good pizza that the kids will eat, in a setting where the kids behave, and to sample four beers without that turning into a cab ride. However, recently they've put in place some seemingly Byzantine rules around what beers on the tap list are permitted in a flight, and which ones get full vs. half pours. This was explained to me as a cost-saving measure, but it really creates a lot more up-front effort where previously I could just pick 4 new beers and a pizza. It seems like such a small thing, and while on the one hand I understand *why* they're doing this... Give me a break.

Horrible experience! We ate here back when it first opened and had a decent experience. Clearly the quality of this restaurant has declined immensely. We placed our order at 1:49 on a Saturday. Alex was our server, and he didn't return to our table for over 45 minutes. He was rude and blatantly ignored us. At 2:30 the runner (manager?) delivered bruschetta to our table. Unfortunately we hadn't ordered it. She returned to our table and asked us if we had been waiting long. She then went and found our food, delivered it, and offered half off both of our meals. That was the only good moment of our meal. It was obvious our food had been sitting in the window, as it was cold. There wasn't even salt and pepper on the table to try to make the fries taste like something. I was starving by this time, so I did eat them all. The meatball sandwich had burnt calzone dough and burnt meatballs. It was rubbery and hard. I choked down a couple bites of meatball that weren't burnt. My husband picked pieces of cheesesteak out of his sandwich. Much of our food was left on the plate. I will never return.

This has become my new go-to pizza joint in the county. They have my favorite new pizza, the amazing "Vermonter" (which has a garlic/butter base instead of tomato sauce, bacon, caramelized onions, sliced apples and maple drizzled over the top) and a vast array of craft beers (22 from Vermont alone) to make any beer lover happy. The space is roomy with plenty of natural light and ample seating, including lots of stools at the bar. The service has been terrific both times I went. In particular, my waiter on my first trip was very knowledgeable about the beer choices and was able to recommend something for me based on my tastes that turned out be quite good. While I still love American Flatbread and Pizzeria Verita, their downtown Burlington location make them a little less appealing to me on the weekends, since I live outside the city and finding parking can be a drag downtown. That's not a problem at the Tap House. They have a large parking lot, which makes it easy to get in, eat, and get out. As far as I'm concerned, this is a very welcome new addition to the local restaurant scene.

4 out 5 because I carried out so the wait staff was not involved. That said, we really have enjoyed the Tap House pizza and the speed at which my take out was complete was very helpful. Have dined in in the past and that to was a pleasant experience.

  • Marc K.

We enjoyed it. The food was pretty good. I had of pizza which I enjoyed a lot with pepperoni. It seems a lot of the food is actually from Vermont which is always great. One of the things I disliked about the place was the lack of great service. Our waiter just didn't seem to have a good handle on what was going on with our order. He got two out of the five orders wrong. We asked for the bill to be split and it wasn't. Besides that, everything was really good.

Pizza was great while I was eating it but 2 hours later I'm still tasting garlic and have terrible heartburn.

  • T B.

The beer selection is better than flatbread, but I like the flatbread and ambiance at flatbread better. Overall, I'd rather go to American Flatbread in downtown Burlington than go to the Tap House, but my boss loves this place & the location can be hard to beat.

    (3)
  • Winfield T.

Definitely the best pizza in town, and with an indefatigable tap list it's an excellent bet for your night out. The pizza itself is confidently Italian-style: a short list of simple ingredients go into each pie, so you won't find a dusting of cornmeal on the bottom of your slice. Our pizza was perfectly charred, the cheese and sauce were very fresh. My recollection gets a little fuzzy after that, but I believe that every one of the three craft beers I enjoyed were brilliant. They have a full bar and it looked well stocked, but I'm not really a cocktail guy so those dimensions will probably remain unexplored for me. They are prepared for families, with a high chair and a booster seat available on request. The restaurant does have a large TV, but at least when we dined at about 4PM it was gratifyingly mute. The only caveat I'd give is situational: if you're into deep dish American pizza, you aren't going to like the Vermont Tap House. Nothing against that sort of pie, it's just not what they serve here.

Vermont Tap House creates the most amazing brick oven pizza I have ever sunk my teeth into. "Make your own" brick oven pizza with garlic butter sauce, fresh mozzarella, applewood smoked bacon ...[excuse me while I slip into another food coma]... pepperoni, and red onions, combined with a local hard cider will make anyone weak in the knees. To top it all off, Vermont Tap House strives to support local farmers and businesses through their product/ingredient selection for their menu items. My husband and I have been there several times during our trips from NY to MA/NH; we deliberately take a longer route so we can indulge in delicious creation of garlic-buttery goodness.

This is associated with its sister in Williston. This is so much what Rutland needs. Thank goodness they did not put the IHOP here as originally planned. Tap beers are 28 with majority being craft brews and lots of local VT beers. This was stills soft opening but still very good! Waitstaff attentive and knowlegable, managers were circulating talking to people. Wings were huge(misty knoll) had maple and hot. Pizza very good Will definitely be back. Cassis was a great waitress! Thank you for bringing this to Rutland!!!!

  • Liz M.

Pretty tasty wood-fired flatbread pizzas, and fantastic (huge!) beer list, mainly from local breweries. The atmosphere is bland, however...no personality. We usually sit at the bar to avoid dealing with the waitstaff because they are inattentive and generally unfriendly.

    (3)
  • Helen L.

We love the tap list and the food is always consistently good, if a bit too pricey for what it is. They do make a meatball that is killer, I have no conception for how to make a meatball that tender and creamy. It's a good date night place or somewhere to take folks who are visiting.

We are here on a sunday at 6:30. It's noisy, difficult to carry on a conversation, but it has a fresh bright look. It hasn't looked this inviting since Evergreen Eddy was here. :( The bruschetta starter is super yummy! Our pizzas were pretty good. Over all it's a good experience, but for the price we prefer American Flatbread.

  • Andrew B.

The pizza is out of this world! The beer selection is beyond extensive. That said the service suffered in our second visit. The waitress had no personality. Our mild wing - our 5 year old loves wings but hates spice - were spicy buffalo and the waitress had the nerve to question whether that orange buffalo sauce was their red mild sauce. I'll go again because of the food but I'll expect to wait longer than I should have to and to not have a great server.

There's room in the world for all the good pizza it can get, and it was with great hope that we went to Vermont Tap House for dinner today. There are two beautiful ovens there. It astonished me that the pizza was so disappointing. There were only two of us, so we ordered a Margherita: the Benchmark Pizza. How a pizzaiolo handles this will tell you Everything You Need to Know. Look at the photo. It tells you Everything You Need to Know. Large circles of thinly-sliced supermarket tomatoes on massive globs of cheese with a chiffonade of basil. When the tray was empty there was a puddle of oil. Has the chef never seen an authentic Pizza Margherita? (Send him to downtown Burlington, there's a place there to find something close, baked in an oven that is similar to VTH's.) Yes, there is a selection of good beers and one cider. Yes, they do use an impressive list of local ingredients. There are so many ways to do this better. And this neighborhood needs good pizza. We'll be back in six months. Watch this space. It would have been one star, but for the staff and the fact that there were no televisions in the dining room.

  • Dann V.

This is a convenient location with ample parking. On a whole, we had a good experience. The service was attentive, the beer selection was diverse, and it's good to see a full house at a locally owned restaurant. That being said, for a tap house, this feels a bit like a ski lodge cafeteria with no atmosphere and much too bright lighting. The pizza seemed a bit undercooked - it lacked the real wood fired flavor I was hoping for. We ordered poutine and I think the fries came straight from McDonald's. There's room for improvement, I'd go back again, it's better than most of the other chain choices in Williston, but it does not compare with the plethora of great pizza and tap houses nearby in Burlington.

Very strange decor and lacks ambiance. The owners gave this place a very cheap reno using laminate flooring. Tackily decorated with fake plants, and poorly slapped together booths. Looks like a movie set, weird room space. The bar area is poorly separated and strangely lighted. Food was ok.

My new favorite restaurant in Williston. Nice to see some local ingredients and not just another chain. I've been twice already! Went opening night 8/7 then took another set of friends back the 8th. The calamari is cooked to perfection, the honey balsamic dressing is tasty, the popcorn chicken is fresh and meaty, the meatball sub is awesome, and the pizza is the "I'll just have one more piece" variety. Very good! The beer selection is great too and the bartender Rick was super friendly and provided great service. :) Cant wait to go back.

I've heard wonderful things about this place, but didn't experience the same!! Was there for lunch today, delayed waitstaff n sandwich order took 30+ minutes to arrive, oh and waitress delivered two of the sandwiches without fries....said they were on there way, LOL!! Rec'd the original bill with a discount but when they ran CC the bill didn't have a discount...no time to dispute it due to delays!! I will say the 1/2 sandwich that I was to able to inhale was fairly decent!! Not sure I'll go back!!

Delicious popcorn chicken appetizer! Great pizza! Excellent chicken parm sandwich. Good, not great, meatball sandwich. Our only complaint? The fries. They were out of sweet potato fries and the regular fries are over seasoned. The beer list is very good although they were out of my 1st 2 choices. Lots of local beers and local ingredients for the food - even local chicken! We had good service too from Lauren/Jennifer - she's very sweet. Great spot.

Atmosphere - no to my taste. A bit bright, kinda feels like a low-cost chain Service - at first, bad, then good. At first we had to actually get up to find a server after waiting maybe 15 minutes - and it was not full. We found a waitress who decided to take our table and she was great. Food - I was pleasantly surprised. crust was very good and ingredients seemed fresh and local. We had three kinds of pizza and they were all good. Caesar salad had too much dressing. Drinks - we had beer and there was more than enough to chose from. Many I had never heard of. Prices seemed fair. I would give 3.5 if I could.

this is a one and only Gastropub a great place service with a smile our waiter knew everything about all of the micro bre beers. many selections of fresh beer on tap don't come here and ask fo a bud light. I like the farm to table selections. lots of organic recipes. this will soon be the best pub to bring the family. will be back when I come back. ps try the creamy creme burlee. !!

A great spot amongst the chains in Williston. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the immediate area. I can't comment on the whole menu, as I've only eaten here twice & had pizza both times. The pizza was good, especially the Hawaiian. They have an awesome beer selection too both on tap & bottles/cans (including Heady Topper!).

Lacks atmosphere.. Very much a chain restaurant decor. Bar leaves your back to a loud dining room. Pizza was just okay.. Nothing special. Wings are breaded .. So not for a traditionalist. Lots of micro brews on tap.. Mostly local brews. A great place for suburbanites. Service was fine.

We were reluctant to try this new restaurant as it had just opened. But we were hungry and we were in the area. No worries. We were happy with the meal, service, and experience. We shared the Vermont cheese board as an appetizer. It was a good way to start the meal. I couldn't identify anything other than the Vermont cheddar, but the other cheeses and the garnishes were delicious. Just a small suggestion--identify the cheeses and garnishes and where they came from! For the main course we split a meatless red pizza of caramelized onions, mushrooms, spinach, and olives. The small size was just enough after the appetizer. It wasn't burned--as some reviews have complained about--but some areas of the dough were undercooked. Still, it tasted great. We finished up by splitting a slice of red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. Wow! What a way to end a good meal! The only downside is that the room was very, very noisy. Many families were there last night, and while most kids were well-behaved, there were a few that used their forks as drumsticks against the wrought-iron pizza pan holders on their tables. The parents, or course, were oblivious to this. We don't drink, so we didn't try any of the beer or ales. We'll go again, and maybe pair appetizers with sandwiches or just order a bunch of appetizers.

Don't go here. Seriously. Unless you're the type that: A) Watches snuff films B) goes to NASCAR races for the crashes or C) are totally comfortable watching other folks be totally uncomfortable. This place is an unmitigated mess. I say that although, to give the place one shot at a reasonable out, I was here for the very first Friday this place opened. That being said, not sure it should have been opened when it was. It was full-on FUBAR. We sat at the bar and watched a complete train wreck. Bodies strewn about, miffed customers. Wait staff on the verge of tears. It was like watching a high school freshman be trotted off the bench to play quarterback against Alabama. It was, as they say, fugly. How ugly? The computer system shut down and - since nobody had keys or a phone number to the rip-off artist who installed the system - the bar manager had to cut his knuckles in an effort to dismantle the electronic register just to get to a cash drawer. And you better have had cash. Whoever designed this place had a limited "me too" vision for menu and beer list, but I doubt has ever run an actual restaurant. I mean, seriously, a beer list without a single price on it... Honestly, the waitstaff and bartenders tried their best to hit the major league curveballs that were thrown at them. They did pretty well, and I tipped them for their efforts. The fact they were put into this messy/awful/awkward situation comes from the tippy top. Essentially it comes down to ownership. I know the Handy's like to cash checks, but how can you go to the bank every day knowing you killed your staff and angered customers to get there? This is no way to run a railroad. Maybe this place is designed simply to lose money to help the owners balance out a P/L sheet. Who knows? The food? Decent enough, I guess. Not better that Veritas in downtown Burlington and no better than the original American Flatbread. Decent, yes, but not worth wading through a beer menu with no prices or cringing through watching a wait staff have to explain what their order is because they took it down in shorthand on hand-written notes that got lost, tossed or soaked in beer. I'll may go back in three months to see if these HUGE problems are fixed. Until then, I'd rather shove a toothpick in my eyes and go to one of the chains across the street.

This is a really nice spot with tasty pizza (we had a Margherita), a good beer and wine selection, friendly staff, and some great salads and appetizers. The meatballs are really fantastic and the salads are large and fresh. There can be long waits at peak times.

Another good option for wood fired pizza in Chittenden Cty. Had "The Vermonter" pizza special. Good service. Will be back.

First off...I love pizza. Second...I'd rather have a frozen pizza then the pizza I had from this place last night (Bacon, Oh Bacon). Okay, so the place is beautiful and the space is great. However, our experience was not awesome. We order the artichoke and spinach dip. The menu says with pita chips but it came with tortilla chips and hair. So that got sent back. Flavor before we saw the hair...decent. Nothing to brag about. Okay... so what we came for. Pizza. The place smelt like bacon so we ordered a pizza with bacon. The Bacon, Oh Bacon, did not have a lot of bacon on it. Not sure what the "Oh Bacon" was about...unless you were wondering oh...where is the bacon??? Then the tomatoes were full slices not diced and were at least 1/4 of an inch think. Why is this an issue? Because the tomatoes made the pizza soggy and they weren't even fully cooked. On top of this there was way too much cheese so the whole pizza was just soggy. We will not order this again and suggest dicing the tomatoes and less cheese...you pizza isn't think crust!!! You should be able to pick up the slice! Thumbs down. Hoping it gets better after open for a bit.

I have dined here a couple times so far, it is a fine stop to make. Great beer selection, and pizza options, I don't feel the pizza ingredient are on par with American Flatbread or Pizza Papillo but its good! Great price for the pizza so give it a shot.

Took a little get away to Vermont and saw this place while shopping. A couple of days later was suppose to go to American Flatbread but the weather was so bad we didn't want to have to look for parking and walk to find it. So we settled on this place. The place is really nicely updated, loved he decor. Our waitress was sweet enough. We ordered the meatball app as well as the spinach dip. Both were good but both were nothing to write home about. Then we ordered 2 pies, the meat pizza and the margarita pizza, I preferred the meat pizza, the sauce was sweet and fresh tasting, the cheese was gooey, and the meats were salty and yummy. The butter garlic margarita was a lot more bland, the cheese had no taste really & I didn't taste any garlic. The crust was ok, but again nothing mind blowing. I left full, but ave a feeling I would have been more satisfied walking in the hail storm to get to the original plan of American Flatbread.

Delicious. We had planned on a trip to American Flatbread but weren't keen on the idea of an hour wait. This is the perfect alternative and our new favorite pizza place. We got there at 6pm on a Friday night. There was about a 10 minute wait for a table. Once seated we looked over the beer menu and asked the waitress for a recommendation. She recommended 2 different beers that we were very happy with. After ordering our food, it was about 20 min before we got it- not bad for a very crowded restaurant. The pizza oven is out in the open for you to see. Both of us ordered our own small pizzas and could only finish about half. I got a red sauce with sliced tomatoes and basil while my fiance got a garlic butter pizza with lots of different ingredients. The tomatoes on mine were a little bland (it is the middle of the winter afterall) but the cheese is excellent and so is the crust. Our bill came out to $37 before tip for 2 beers and 2 pizzas- very reasonable. We will definitely be going here again!

Started out with really good pizza sauce. Now the sauce is so sweet that I can not eat it. Ditto for the sautéed onions, they must add sugar to them. Caramelized onions do not taste that overly sweet. Still love their salads!

Good pizza. Asked for no red onions on our pizza and guess what we got--red onions:) The waitress offered to remake it. We said no we can pick the onions off and she said are you sure? You can take this pizza home and we can make a new one. We said we'll just pick them off because we didn't want to be wasteful...We got the check and no discount was given for the messed up pizza--even when they were about to give us two for one. What a shame.

I'll give any place one star for trying. These guys get two simply because they have good beer on tap. I thought the wood fired pizza might make up for the absolutely generic atmosphere but it didn't. Maple syrup should never be put on pizza. Not even in VT. With a little more tlc and some better food this place would be much better. Note to the owner: don't cut corners and listen to your customers. I, personally, would not recommend this to anyone. Go to American Flatbread. They've got the food, beer, and atmosphere down to a t.

This place is not something to write home about. Seems the switchback batch is very cloudy which is not drinkable especially being the first two glasses from the new keg. It is also pricy and the food is not that great. Will not be rushing to come back here.

Been here a few times and waited to review until I was sure. Its very good. Services has always been great, beer menu is terrific and the pizza's are great. I agree with others that it is noisy but you get used to it. Having a great wood pizza/tap room with parking is the best. Definately a fan!!

I've read the reviews and almost let some of them sway me from trying out Vermont Tap House. I'm glad I didn't. We showed up on a Friday night with a party of six and had no wait, though by the time we left there was a line out the door. First, if you're a beer enthusiast, for $7, you can order a sampler of four beers from their impressive draught list. There are Vermont beers on this list but also some from other areas like Ballast. Now, someone does need to change the laminated sheets because it is not a beer "SAMPLIER," and the beer lists on the menu when we sat down didn't match the menu on the laminated sheet, so one of the Ballast beers we were going (Calico) to try wasn't the beer we got (Sculpin.) Though the Sculpin is tasty, we'd tried it already. That was really the only mess up that night though. The pizzas are excellent. Someone said American Flatbread is better. Unless I went on an off night, the pizzas at Flatbread were overcooked to the point of being the crispiness of saltines. Fine if that's your thing, but I like my yeast dough to have some give, not be a crumbly mess. We tried three pizzas. The Buffalo chicken would be improved with more Buffalo sauce, but it was still tasty. The meat eaters is yummy. Finally, the non-meat eaters was also really good. Calamari was also quite tasty, though I wasn't as impressed with the Siracha Aioli as I expected. It lacked garlic and ended up tasting like a mix of Siracha and store-bought mayo. All in all though, for beers, calamari, and pizza - $85 for six people impressed me. I'd definitely return.

Read other reviews and wasn't expecting too much. Nice beer selection and pretty good pizza. Wood fired. We were pleased. Don't expect much more. If you are a hot wings person, stay away from them. I ordered them extra crispy and they still came out under cooked. Ok flavor.

My family has adopted this place as our go - to close to home favorite. The food is very good. I am an atmosphere girl and there just isn't any. Too bright, tables that look like something from a family diner and no break between tables. The chicken wings were gourmet but this last time we were in they had changed from a panko type breading to a standard breading. May have been a fluke, but it wasn't what we were hoping for and did not live up to our past experiences. Pizzas are very tasty. Wait staff is generally pretty cordial.

First off, do not order the East of Buffalo wings. Simply put, horrible. "Breaded" before frying has nothing to do with Buffalo and the sauce was sketchy. The pizza "solar flare" was ok, but American flatbread was much better. Beer selection was good, but if you're comparing to flatbread, go there. If you're looking for food at "the corners" and don't want Moe's, it's ok, but definitely not a destination.

The pizza and service were very good, but that's where the stars end. My kids and I arrived just before the dinnertime rush and it's a good thing we did because there's no way we could have discussed what we wanted to eat if we'd arrived 10 minutes later. This place is designed so poorly and is such a CAFETERIA that the acoustics are horrible and it becomes unbearably loud with many tables of normal conversation. My kids and I couldn't hear each other without yelling, I had to shout my order to our waiter, and the server had to ask my son three times to repeat what he was saying when the pizza was brought to our table (my son was trying to tell the guy that there was a bigger pizza holder on an empty table near us--we needed two of them). I was horrified by the interior decor. The exterior color, the homespun signage, and the great wooden doors hold the promise of yummy coziness. Nope. The place is, as I mentioned above, a cafeteria. It's a giant room with many tables which have the appearance of being scattered here and there because there is so much wasted floor space in this restaurant. The walls are painted asylum green and the hanging lighting fixtures over the booth tables are also green. I'm sure the people sitting at those tables had very appetizing pizzas under those lights. The rest of the lighting is very institutional and as it got dark outside, the interior lost any ambiance the sun gave it. Those lights have got to go. If this restaurant had been designed as a series of smaller "rooms" with walls (not even ceiling height walls), carpets or darker wood flooring (the flooring is very, very light--again, giving the appearance of a cafeteria), warmer lighting and a warmer color scheme, this place could feel so welcoming, warm, and so much more pub-like. And they wouldn't have lost seating because there's so much floor space to spare. I'd have been able to enjoy conversation with my dinner companions while nibbling delicious pizzas boasting local ingredients. As it was, I couldn't wait to finish and get the heck out of there.

I came here for a quick lunch with my parents and niece, and have to say I was impressed. They have a fantastic (local) beer menu and a pretty diverse lunch menu. I had the Greek Vegetable Sandwich and it was divine. The service was spot on, our server was Dan and he was great. My niece got a pizza covered in bacon and pepperoni with red sauce, which looked delicious, but I stayed away from the carnivore delight. I would love to come here in the evening sometime and try out that beer menu! Everything was great, and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Extremely friendly staff and manager. Wood-fired pizza had a delightfully abundant amount of delicious toppings... Not skimping at all on loading up their pizzas with top notch regional/local ingredients like VT Smokehouse pepperoni, VT apples, maple syrup, scrumptious bacon. Nice crispy flatbread style pizza and a fantastic selection of New England beers on tap. We will be back often. Loved the place... And so happy to finally have a unique restaurant to visit in Williston. Warm and comfortable space with nice bar if you just are wanting to hop in for a drink.

I did enjoy the lunch I had here, although for the expensive prices I would have hoped for a lot more. The food was pretty good, my table got a selection of sandwiches and pizza, everyone thought their meal was good, but nothing too spectacular. They do have an amazing beer list, and the beer was very good, but they do only serve it in small glasses because of the high alcohol content (at least the ones we got). Even though they came in small glasses they were still quite expensive. The service left a lot to desired for. Our server would take out order, then instantly forget what we said and ask certain people if they had decided yet. It was strange, we pretty much came to the conclusion he was high. He would take a very long time coming back to the table. We sat with empty plates for almost 10 minutes before he came by, we asked for the check and then he asked if we wanted desert or coffee. Again, very strange. He took another 10 minutes to get us our bill, then after we gave him the credit card, he still took a very long time returning it to us. There were a lot of empty tables, it did not seem super busy, I do understand long waits when the restaurant is slammed, but that wasn't the case in this situation. I would not go back, $80 for 4 people to have okay sandwiches and pizza (and two small beers) and crappy service is too much.

The pizza is the best anywhere. Great selection and always done well. It's a big place and can be noisy (I am perhaps overly sensitive to noise in restaurants), but I've always had great service and great food.

We stumbled upon the Vermont Tap House by mistake while wandering around the Burlington area. They just opened (8/7/13) to the Public and were still putting on the finishing touches while we were there. There is a great selection on tap and some very creative cocktails offered. The menu is primarily wood fired pizza and some salads and sandwiches. The service was lightening fast overall. The only downside was the beer were a bit on the pricey side ($7 for a Hard Cider). Hopefully this place will thrive. The pizza was great (much better than American Flatbread)

Stumbled upon this restaurant by accident while on vaca with husband and daughter. Pizza was amazing and had a great drink...maple drop martini. My 2 year old who loves pizza even told me and I quote... "Favorite pizza!"

I did not venture into this restaurant until well after the opening and that appears to have been a good thing. That said, the two visits I have made have been well worth it. Their tap selection is quite good and on par or less than you would pay in downtown Burlington. OH and you can park in an actual lot! I do love American Flatbread but I think these guys give them a run for their money... Especially if you want to avoid the downtown parking situation. I highly recommend their meat pie if you are a real carnivore. The local sausage and pepperoni are nom nom. Also a couple of the veg pies are awesome. Give these guys a try and see if they can pull it off for you too. Signed. A local.

Pizza served with a side of pretentiousness. Not only is the place hideous on the exterior, the food the awful and the beer is gross. Bring back ponderosa!!!!!!

The food was okay but the prices were high. Zero atmosphere, kind of a noisy cafeteria style. The 12-inch gluten-free pizza was very good, but again--$18? Really? Every topping except cheese adds $1.50 and meat toppings add $2.50. Two adults and two kids, no booze, a couple of appetizers and everyone got a dessert. The bill came to $130 including tip.

I am always looking for good beer selection and VT Tap House did not disappoint. Was in town for a visit and felt like good pizza and a beer. This was a hit. Shared a salad, ordered a margherita pizza with mushrooms and had a good local brew. I recommend! pizza has a thin crust and was tasty.

First impressions were how noisy it was. Very loud and noisy restaurant. We ordered popcorn chicken for an appetizer and was disappointed to receive only six or seven pieces. I realize its fresh local poultry, but felt it was a puny app. Also had a salad which was large and fresh. Ordered the smoked mozzerella , mushroom, pepperoni pizza and it was very good. Saw a meatball sub at the next table and it looked good. Wish it was not so noisy, but might eat here again

wood fired pizza my ass! sure, its cooked in a brick oven but you wouldnt know it. i make crispier and tastier pizza out of my conventional oven at home all the time. soggy and tasteless, the only way to describe it. its like ordering from a low end pizza delivery place. go to american flatbread or folinos for the real deal. only reaseon im giving it 2 stars is because of the decent beer list. they need to grow up here and make the ovens hotter or cook the pizzas longer or something because somethings not right.

After reading the reviews we were hoping to have a great meal. The inside decor is nice but nothing special. For this review I will give grades to each of the items we ordered. My wife would give the Caesar salad and F. The lettuce was not properly cleaned and the salad looked like it was poured from a bag. I would give the gatherer salad a B. We ordered two pizzas. The El Camino (black bean salsa inspired pie) and the barbeque Chicken pie. I would give the El Camino a D-. There was no flavor and the chicken on the piece was dried out and looked almost frozen. We give the barbeque chicken pizza a B-. Ours came with bacon which was a mistake but in general the pizza tasted okay. The no prices on the beer list is still a little strange. I asked the waitress (who did a great job with our issues) if that meant the beer was free. Overall the Tap House needs to work on a few things before we will head back. The place has potential but they need to make improvements. Lastly I'm surprised people think this place is better than American Flatbed. We would not agree with that feedback.
