upon arriving we were met by a woman who identified herself as the wife of the owner. This was our first time here so I thought to ask her for a food suggestion. she responded ny saying "I don't eat here, this is my husbands restaurant". Hmmmm...I thought this was an honest yet not encouraging response. We sat at the bar watching the tender refilling the bar snack into filmy/fingerprinted glasses. hmmm.....not interested in clean glassware. we ordered shepherds pie and the barbecue burger. the shep pie was made with ground beef and what seemed to be canned corn and instant mashed potatoes. the barbecue burger came with onion rings that most certainly came from the bottom of the deep fryer. there was no onion to be found the beer was good. go for drinks/ be wary of the food

Stopped in for Lunch on Saturday with my kids. I got a very tasty Reuben and a very good lost nation rustic ale -- yum. I will definitely go back as there are at least 6 other beers I want to try -- out of the 28 on tap. My mother in law got the chicken pot pie with filo dough crust-- she said it was very good. Chicken tenders for the kids were just OK -- nothing special, but my 3 year old didn't mind. This is a great place to go for beers and some food. Not a chain which is a big stand out in Williston.

Hesitate to give 4 stars...maybe 3 1/2. First, the negative: the food was so-so. My wife had a burger and fries. They don't have mushrooms as a choice on the menu, but my wife asked if she could have some. They did saute some for her (at no charge), which was nice, but some of the lettuce was wilted and dark green (it was iceberg lettuce). The burger was OK but nothing to write home about (pretty dry). I had the turkey burger and onion rings. As with a few places I've had here, the turkey burger looks like beef (dark meat, I suppose), which is different than my previous experiences (used to white-meat turkey burgers), but it was decent. The onion rings were fine but obviously frozen (but still fine). Looked over at a family that had just got their food and the little girl's grilled cheese was burned (she didn't seem to mind, but I know my daughter wouldn't eat it). Their salad looked very good. But, while the food was average, the service was great! Our server was very attentive and friendly, even though she had multiple tables. Their beer selection is very good and tons of TVs for the sport's nut. Price was a bit high (our burgers/sides, plus my wife had a beer came to 30 bucks), but I will say the portions were very large. Overall, I'd go back and bring friends...would like to make it for NFL weekend (assuming they will have NFL package but I didn't ask), since they have your own TV should you be lucky enough to get a booth. Menu had many choices, and I'd like to try some appies and beer. I will give them a temporary pass on the food...I know it is common for a restaurant to have sub-par food the 1st couple of months, and the food wasn't lousy, so nothing to turn me away yet. Even if the food doesn't improve, I could see myself stopping in for a beer to watch the game. Pretty big bar (at least as compared to what I've seen since I moved here).

I work locally and live in colchester. I've had dinners at the Severance location and thought to try lunch in Williston! Order ready for pick up when I arrived, but errors in a simple Shamrock salad order... No onions requested and was covered in them. asked for chick salad add on and none given - lost $ there for their sales. I then ordered soup and sandwich- great thick cut bread and generous meat with cheese. The soup of day fell FLAT. Guys, broccoli cheddar soup shouldn't be goopy... To point it tasted like melted velveeta and frozen broccoli . This pairing could be a winner but don't put out a SOD that's so far from quality made!

Very good food for the pub style fare. Solid 4 stars if you are looking for burgers wings and a beer.

I came here with my sister for dinner, the service was wonderful and the food was AMAZING! Everything I tried I LOVED! I can't wait to go back. I had an open-faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, which was beyond incredible (I'll probably get the same thing again!) and then french onion soup which was delicious and the pub chips with onion dip, a must try!

My husband comes here almost weekly while he's away for work, and I come with him on occasion. Beth and Sandy at the bar are awesome, they're always helpful when helping you choose from their ever-evolving, fantastic draft selection. The food is great, martinis are nice, and they have $4 margaritas. We'll definitely keep coming back, it's almost like home now.

The food is O.K to say the least. I have had better pub food. If you're local try Cody's Irish Pub in Essex. The food there is so much better and fresh!! They have a good beer list, but the service is deplorable. I have never had such a bad waitress in my life, rude, inattentive and kept hovering over the table. Not hovering to see if we wanted drinks or anything else but to hurry us along so she could leave. Seedy atmosphere.

Finally got the opportunity to try this place out. Something like 20-30 beers?? Wow. They are always willing to let you taste test some. Schlitz is back?? go figure. The food is quite good. I personally think they make the very best chicken salad sandwich ANYWHERE! Service is always friendly and prompt. The bartenders know what they are doing and handle the crowds with ease. The decor is a bit dreary. I think it's too much space and ceiling for an irish pub. I usually expect a somewhat cramped yet cozy space. But it's functional for the amount of tables and booths they stuff into here. If anything, come for the brew selection and food.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now because it goes to show how one bad experience can stick with you. It was Valentines Day and I was out on a double date with my boyfriend and the other couple being our closest friends! We had plans to go to a movie showing and decided to go to this nearby restaurant for dinner. When we walked in it was busy and we were told the wait would be 20-30mins. We decided to stay. By the time we were seated at our table we already knew what we wanted to order. It took 10-15 minutes until our server came by and greeted us by saying, "I guess I'll be your server..." (What an awkward thing to say...) We let her know that we had plans to go see a movie and the time we needed to leave by. We quickly ordered our drinks and food together to save time. Our food took a while to be served but that was to be expected given how busy the place was. Also I noticed our food was not delivered by our server and in fact no one came up to our table after either. What if something was not cooked right? What if we needed something extra? Our drinks were empty and we also wanted refills. With our plates and drinks empty and our bellies full we waited another 10mins. At this point we were in a little bit of a hurry to catch our movie showing. I noticed the person in charge and got his attention. I told him that no one had been to our table since the food was dropped off and we had not seen our server. We told him we had a movie showing and that we were in bit of a hurry. He nicely apologized and told us he would get our bills. In the distance I could see our server and the manager conversing. It still took another 5-10minutes to get settled up. I have worked in the food and service industry for several years and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had! On such a special day I wouldn't wish this upon anyone and therefore I will not be coming back or recommending this restaurant.

I chose the location from yelp. Because the wife and kids all had different places in mind. Much to my surprise we were all very happy with her meals. The menu for beers is outstanding! Not just your average crap but a lot of different beers from all over the country. My Guinness burger was huge and very enjoyable. Fish and chips were excellent wish we had more fish. My daughter really enjoyed the stew made with beef. Overall great experience and excellent pub meal place.
(4)Brent R.
Just OK food. The real reason to come here is the excellent micro-brews on tap. Lots of TV to watch your fav team.
(4)Adam N.
McGillicuddy's is pretty decent food and I'd likely visit again. The place is very clean and polished for what I'm used to as an Irish Pub. Great place to watch a game. The food is standard bar food (burgers, fries, salads), but I do appreciate that you can get grass fed beef instead of the normal fatty meat most restaurants serve. It's $2 extra, but well worth the price. I think that little extra makes a big difference compared to the other commonly-themed Irish bars in the greater Burlington area. For me, I'd go back if I were in the Williston area or had friends who wanted to go to watch a game.

Tried again tonight...been there several times....never been better than OK, and tonight it was just plain bad. We live about a mile away and will not be back. Better options around and calories are better spent elsewhere. My wife who is not one to complain, did let the server know that the fish and chips was pretty bad. The server said she would see what she could do...cam back and asked if there was anything else that she wanted to try...after the meal was over. A bit weak, not that we really looking for credit, she just mentioned so that the cooks would, hopefully, do better next time.

We are in love. Awesome beer selection, outstanding burgers, very good service. They are the only cheese steak I've had lately that wasn't a bitter disappointment. In fact, it was great! They do 9 oz. pours so I can sample more stuff or keep spending in check and still enjoy a local brew. And, the best part, half price burgers on Sundays after 5:00. We're there every week. Are the 400 TVs overkill? Sure. Do I care? Not a bit.
(5)Blanka N.
Half price burgers on Sunday's was a very nice surprise when we went to the place this weekend. It was our first time there so we had no idea! The space is very small and very pub- like. There are TV's in every booth and a whole list of beer. Their menu features a large selection of burgers which I was actually rather impressed with. I chose to go with the "On the Green Burger" which features a a bun with an 8oz burger that has been marinated in Guinness and topped with Corned Beegf AND CHEESE! Heart attack waiting to happen but- very much worth it! Yummm! They also give you an option of sides and well I chose to go with the curly fries even though they were almost an additional $2 charge. Sadly, I must admit that there were wayyyy less curls than I would have liked! But- my burger was cooked just right and very juicy which I very much appreciated! While I enjoyed a burger, my partner opted for the Bangers and Mash. This is a traditional dish and is made of grilled Irish Bangers that are served on sweet grilled onions with sweet potato mashes with a Giness Gravy. I had only look at my partner's face to establish that he was not enjoying it. Of course, being the pain that I am, I then had to snag a bite and YUCK what a disappointment! The whole dish was just too sweet- it didn't taste right and I was a bit disappointed as I chose this place for it's Irish flare. Tisk Tisk. Anyways, the only complaint I have is the speed of service. The place was not very busy but our waitress took forever to get the bill. We even joked that the next time we came, we would be asking for the bill as soon as we placed our order and that perhaps we would only have a 15 min wait for the check after we finished eating. It was also frustrating that once that check was brought over, that the burgers were not rung up as half-off so the check had to be redone. We didn't really stress over it though nor make a fuss and actually, we accepted it once the waitress came back and let us know that it was only her second day on the job. So overall; food is good, price is right. :)

I had a pleasant lunch there today. I had the California burger it was not quite rare but tasted good. When I'm in town it's definitely an option.
(3)Mary M.
I like the place. My husband & I sit at the bar and always see people we know or meet someone new. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. Todd always tells us the story on the newest beers and shares a sample before we choose. Now, about the food... This isn't a hoity-toity sort of place, it's a great neighborhood pub!We haven't tried everything. We love the chili, it is thick and meaty, spiced right without torching your taste buds. We think it's the best around and at a great price. The chili is definitely our go-to, either a cup as an appetizer or a bowl as our meal. I've had the garden salad with grilled chicken a few times and it's consistently big, fresh & delicious. My husband loves their burgers and the fish & chips. If you're looking for a comfortable, low key, clean, friendly place to grab a beer after work or shopping, you need to try them out.

Made it here last night with some friends of mine - I had been excited to see what the latest Williston offering had to bring the area. They were HOPPING! As it did just open a week ago, I'll keep this review pretty fair and not nitpick the little things associated with a new business (especially a busy one). You walk in and seat yourself (they do need a sign because everyone that walks in is instantly confused on what the protocol is). The seating area is a good size with tables spaced nicely and a combination of booths and tables. The walls are COVERED with TVs. It's a bit much and a little overwhelming, in my view, and not what I would have expected when I heard the name of the place. I expect it when I go to the Vermont SPORTS Grill. The McGillicuddy's in Montpelier I recall having a variety of TVs too but not in this vast quantity. In any case, it would be a nice place for someone to go to watch a game, so I probably won't be bringing my ADD husband as he'll otherwise be suckered into TV-land (and we don't even like sports!). The menu is awesome, ranging from Irish dishes to burgers and salads. I was impressed that they will use local beef for an extra $2 charge, if you'd like them to. That is SMART. It may sound like a lot but the prices are all very reasonable, with many options even under $10! I opted for the pulled pork with coleslaw and fries (which were crispy large wedge fries - YUM!). The pork was good but not the best I've ever had - it had more of a wet, boiled pork consistency than one that had been hand pulled, just coming off the smoker. The bun was a nice bakery bun and not your usual fluffy, cheap, hamburger bun. I'm excited to try other menu items! The atmosphere was busy, a little loud (high ceiling), and a little frantic, which I attribute to being so new. My one qualm was that our waitress was quite slow and seemed timid. There were waits for beer and food but she never really informed us of this - it was just apparent after we'd been waiting for some time. But again, I can forgive a lot as I know that they were so new and quite busy - I will definitely try them again! It is wonderful to have another option in the Williston area that is not a large chain and I know the rough spots will get smoothed out soon as they find their place.

Will never go back! My favorite bartender is gone now off to a better Job. Service sucks. This is a 50+ club anyway... Not a helpful place, strange atmosphere.. Do not recommend this place to anyone. I hesitate giving one star!!!
(1)Peter P.
Meh.... Go for the beer and TVs not the food. They have an extensive beer list with many good choices. Beer price range is $4.00 - $7.50 a pint. Most are in the mid range of that. But the food is average. The appetizers look like they came straight from the freezer. I had a California burger. It was good and fair price. but the freezer fries kind of killed it. Service was good. The A/C was set way too high, we were freezing in there. If you want to have some beers with your buddies this is a good place. If you want to have dinner. maybe not here. I like to get good value and quality for my money.
(2)Doug M.
Corn Beef was outstanding
(4)Rhonda K.
Good locally owned Irish pub in Williston.. Who knew? Most soups and Irish Stew are home made.. Vast selection of draft beer and Todd pours a nice Guinness! Open for lunch! Friendly bartender and clientele .
(3)Liz J.
Stick to the traditional pub food (fish and chips). Had Asian noodles and a chicken gravy a potatoes that were very disappointing. The Asian noodle dish was very salty.
(3)Paul V.
Friendly staff and last time I counted 28 beers on tap. They also stock heady topper. I see so many bad reviews of the food here and quite honestly I've had nothing more than the wings which as a huge wing fan are great quality and crispy with a fairly good sauce. I don't understand how people can go to a bar and grill that serves pub fare and totally dog the food. You're in a bar!!!! Wake up!!!!
(4)Dave P.
Totally boring, totally standard strip mall sports bar. You could this same uninspired bland food at any of the zillions of places exactly like this anywhere in america. Don't waste your time or money on food you won't even remember by the time you get to your car. Also it took a lonnnnng time to arrive and my fries were pretty near to cold by the time I got them. It gets two stars because the food, while boring, is not gross or anything.
(2)Nateoc O.
Seriously, ignore the persnickety reviews for this spot; Yelp literally lets anyone with an internet connection and the ability to type weigh in on any eatery. We had burgers here again today(Jan, 2013). The house burger, that's mixed with beer, is outstanding. It's juicy and flavorful. We also had some starters. The French onion soup is just salty enough, cheesy, and delicious. Their boneless wings are cooked to perfection (Really, I mean that; they're crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.). They also have a huge variety of local beer on tap to the extent that this wine lover is learning to enjoy beer!
(4)Cathy C.
We went into the restaurant after a Sat. movie. The place was quite busy, and we felt lucky to get a seat at the bar. The bartenders were attentive and courteous. The food, on the other hand, was something else. I ordered Fish & Chips. They had to be the worst. The fish was so overcooked, I could barely cut into it with a knife. I ordered Onion Rings in place of the fries, and you could tell they were from frozen. Additionally, we sat on the side of the bar where the servers collect dishes, etc. The servers took no notice that the bar customers could hear every time they would pitch a dish or pan into a can. It was extremely noisy, and I am hard of hearing! I have no desire to return there.
(2)Derick W.
OK. Great beer and the prices are good. The chicken wings are so-so. Get the California burger if you want to see the worlds thinest slice of avacado!
(2)Kim M.
I would give the beer selection, ambiance and the incredible friendly bar staff 4 stars, but food three stars. It's hard to find such knowledgeable and friendly bartenders along with an array of incredibly brews on tap. We will be there much more often! On a side note: Thank you for putting hooks under the bar for purses!! :)
(3)BD D.
Went there on their first Friday. Good beer, good bar food. Although the wings were not really how I like'em (crispy) and a tad too expensive. My only real gripe was the atmosphere. Way more sports bar than pub. For Irish, I'll stick to RiRa, for Williston, I'll stick to Monty's.
(2)Phoebe T.
One of the best draft beer lists in Northern Vermont, and it's in a shopping plaza in Willison. Clean, fresh pub food that's great pre-movie fare. Imaginative soups, a great bartender, huge salads, and a good selection of U.K. staples. When you want something simple and unpretentious with an excellent beer selection, you need to go here.
(4)Steve B.
We went here once so far with a small group, and none of us were real impressed. They were busy, so we had to wait for a table (there was a hostess taking names, thankfully) but it wasn't too long. Service was OK, but not stellar. One of the servers (luckily not ours) was pretty annoying... loud, brash. Food was sub-par. I got the chicken tenders and opted for the buffalo sauce. The tenders were obviously frozen food service products... flat and wide with uninspiring plain old breading. The buffalo flavor was ok. Not that I use it, but I don't recall it coming with ranch dressing, like buffalo chicken typically does. The fries were minimal, and not all that good either. Onion rings, one of my favorite bar foods, were terrible. I will usually go for the last one in the basket when sharing (as we were), but I actually passed up on a few that sat around, unclaimed by anyone. Hardly any onion and the batter was hard and greasy (difficult combination to pull off, but they managed). Although a fairly new restaurant in the area, we went after they had been open for at least a couple months, so we can't blame it on new business shakiness. The location is OK if you are going there for a before or after movie snack, but I wouldn't go there just for dinner. The parking at Maple Tree Place (the village-like complex they are in) is atrocious. If you don't get one of the few parking places up front, you will be walking for a while to get there from an outer lot.
(2)Nicole R.
I won't go here again! The service was slow and when I finally got my food the burger wasn't warm and the fries were so cold I couldn't eat them. When I told the waitress about the fries she did bring me a new plate, however, I still had to pay for the burger w/fries. No discount or anything. Not good service!
(1)Bill T.
I've eaten here twice, and had excellent meals both times. First was a tasty, thich Irish Stew and second visit I had the McGillicudy burger and onion rings. The burger was well seasoned, very tasty and on a fresh bun that didn't fall apart. They also had Heady Topper Ale available. This beer is sold out almost as quickly as it's brewed (in Waterbury Vt) so to find it in a bar was a big plus. I recommend this spot. Lots of TV's for sports watching also.
(4)Jeff H.
Just stopped in for a quick beer and bite to eat. The waitress was pleasant and acknowledged us immediately. After being seated she took our drink order and gave bus time to look over the menu. The place looked clean smelled good and the food was very good. I think this would be a great place to come before or after a movie being so close to the theater. I will definitely go back.
(4)Brian Y.
Seems to be getting better after our first visit, but still has a way to go with service/food
(2)Eric H.
For Williston, this place is all right. There aren't enough locally-owned restaurants in town. You get what you pay for here - it's a sports bar, and the food is slightly upscale bar food - burgers & fries, etc. with an attempt at some casseroles. I've been here 3 times now - the first was on their 3rd night open (super busy), then a few weeks later, and finally the Saturday before Christmas. The owner was awesome to us during our first visit - super attentive, etc. Service hasn't been so great the second and third visits. I haven't been wowed by the food, with the exception of the veggie burger - that's why they're getting 3 stars. The rest of the burgers - even with VT Highland Beef (kudos to them for trying) - are decent, but not exceptional. The potato skins are pretty decent, although a bit greasy, but, they're potato skins - how could they NOT be greasy? Their biggest offense was our last visit. We ordered a california burger, which came with chipped avocado - chipped, because the avocado was rock solid. We asked for more, hoping that the folks in the kitchen could find a riper one, but no luck. just a bowlful of more avocado carved off a baseball. We would have appreciated them just telling us that they were out of avocado. The black and blue burger was ok. The real blow, however, was when the mac and cheese arrived that we ordered off the kids menu for our 3-year old. It was clearly kraft-style, out of a box. We didn't even bother to give it to our son. The waitress was kind enough to take if off our bill for us, at least. So, we're taking a break from this venue for a while. If I go back, it will be for appetizers, maybe a veggie burger, and to watch TV. Not for dinner with the family.
