The best got even better! In my original review, I complimented Dusit Thai for the best Thai cuisine I had ever had in Vermont. For this visit, it was much better still. Though I have never been to Thailand, this experience rivaled preparations I've enjoyed in China, Taiwan, Japan, Hawai'i and across the US. We dined at Dusit Thai as a party of three on April 25. We ordered three appetizers and three entrees. It was so good that, despite having ordered so much food with leftovers firmly in mind, we ate very nearly everything. As always, the dipping sauces played more than a supporting part in our enjoyment of the spring rolls, fish cakes and pot stickers - so many fresh flavors with just the right level of chili. Seafood stir fry with nam phrik sauce and chicken in Masaman curry showcased outstanding yet different aspects of the flavor wheel employed in Thai cuisine - bright and pinpoint in the seafood nam phrik, smooth and savory in the coconut curry. But the stir-fried crispy duck in spicy Thai basil sauce was the highlight of my evening. The tender-crisp vegetables were a stage on which the deliciously smoky grilled flavors of the duck performed in brilliant counterpoint to the spicy basil sauce. I was utterly transported. We're already planning our return visit!

Quite an experience. I've never experienced Thai as authentic as this place, ambience-wise. You are greeted by your host dressed in traditional Thai gown with traditional Thai folk instruments in the background. Very detailed Thai-style decor and equipment. Almost unbelievable. My reason for rating 4 stars and not 5 is because the food didn't have the wow-factor, wasn't outstanding compared to other Thai restaurants. Still very good though for its location. They are a baby restaurant, so see for yourself what they have to offer.

The food here is a very good value. For $40 before tip we had a Thai iced tea, a coconut drink, Thai dumplings, khao soi, and the eggplant salad with chicken and shrimp. The khao soi actually had pickled mustard greens, unlike another Thai place where they promise them in the menu description but do not deliver. (At least last time I ordered it.) And the noodles were not overcooked. Medium spice was actually medium, despite a local's warning that the food was "super hot". I'd go with hot next time. The highlight of our meal was the Thai dumplings with sweet Thai soy sauce. I would definitely get those again. They had really nice flavor and texture. I'd probably try other main dishes since there are so many choices on the menu. But everything was good.

Easily the best Thai I've had since i was actually in Thailand. Beautifully prepared, authentically spiced. Would recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Food worth the wait. Dusit Thai offers good selection, with many pictures on the menu to help the diner choose. The waitresses seem chronically understaffed, which leads to long wait times. They accept takeout orders. Perhaps this is the best option.

We visited Dusit Thai for the first time for lunch yesterday and were impressed. The food is fresh, flavorful and as close to authentic as we have had any place. Once the public learns of this gem in downtown Newport, they will be swamped. We both had hot and sour soup first - excellent flavor and heat. Love the crispy wontons! I had the Pad Thai (mild) which was one of the best I have ever had - just the right amount of heat and the raw shoots and squeeze of lime added just the right amount of flavor and texture. My husband had Gaeng Pa which he had never had before - he raved about the complexity of flavors and textures and it was just the right amount of heat for him (medium). We will be back!

Everything was top-notch. Our waitress was unbelievably nice and genuinely pleased to serve us. Prices were fair. It's very nice inside too.

This was one of the most enjoyable meals I've eaten out in over a decade. This place, if in Boston would attract a waiting line on the mass pike. Presentation was amazing, the food was like Xmas morning, just soothing and pleasantly delicious. I would describe the food but words can't describe the flavor and taste that I experienced. Our party had four entrees and two appetizers, not once did I stop to breathe, the food was all I could think about. This is a gem, try this place out, you won't be disappointed.

We stumbled into this gem of a restaurant in downtown Newport after skiing. The atmosphere was charming and the service extroverted and helpful. We were able to meet the owner briefly as well though perhaps her English is not as strong as her cooking. Papaya salad was delicious and balanced with very fresh vegetables. Tom Ka was quite good and much better than we have had in big city Thai restaurants. Pad Prik Mao with extra firm tofu was tasty and had lots of veggies. Pad Kee Maow was good though medium spicy melted my son's mouth a bit. Panang chicken was generous in size though mainly chicken and curry sauce. Prices are very reasonable making the whole experience a positive one.

It has an awesome for lunch. A great menu. Great food. They are closed on Tuesday but it is worth your time to go and eat there. Many gluten free options and vegetarian choices. Stop in and try it. We did on our way back to ny and had a great meal.
