Small bakery with limited seating, better to take to go. Muffins were very good, had a peach ginger muffin with large pieces of peach in it, it clearly wasn't made from a mix. Also the muffin was a reasonable size, not an enormous more than a meal size. Staff was super pleasant. I got in just before a rush of people, the line can go from nobody to out the door quickly. I'll definitely be going back!

Always a favorite. I don't go to Killington w/out heading here for breaki + lunch. Super fresh, super yummy - and hands down the best cider donut I've ever had. It comes out warm and holy shit amazing. Thanks for being so awesome!

Very nice bakery amongst the few options available in Killington. I like the environment, the maple caffe latte is a real gem, and the Boss Hug sandwich makes for a refreshing and fulfilling lunch on our long drive back to NY from the ski gateway trip. Friendly service too Will def come back again!

I usually stop in here in the morning on my way to the mountain. Sunup Bakery is a cute little shop where they always have fresh muffins, bagels and other delicious treats for you to eat on the go. I really love their blueberry muffins and their coffee is great too. I am negating one star due to their slow service..seriously, it takes forever to get your order. Otherwise, love this place!

In anticipation to start my 2011-2012 snowboarding season, I realized I had left a bookmark in my Yelp to review Sunup Bakery in Killington, VT. I cannot wait to drive up to this place at the crack of dawn, order my amazing coffee and cafe baked goods. Oh, and the folks who work here are pretty awesome as well. See you soon, Sunup!

I LOVE the Sunup! (Affectionately called "Laura's" by my family) Bear in mind that this is a tiny place. There is not really seating inside... 4 stools against the window and a bench, plus two Adirondack chairs and a picnic table outside. This is a grab and go. Actually, "grab" is a loose term... they make sandwiches and drinks to order when you order, so save yourself some time for your visit. It is worth it (hey, you're on mountain time!). They brew, by far, the best coffee on the mountain. And I can't make a trip to Killington without getting a sausage, egg and cheese on English Muffin! The lunch sandwiches are full of fun, fresh ingredients, and the soup of the day is always good. Have a little patience, visit the Sunup, and ENJOY!

On the way out of Killington, I stopped at Sunup Bakery for breakfast. It's intimate on the inside (no seating) with lots of advertisements for local crafts, classes, etc. There are plenty of coffee choices. I tried the organic coffee and it was very nice. I picked up some baked goods for later in the week (they kept well and tasted better!). I got a couple breakfast sandwiches that were reasonably priced. You can get the sandwiches (vegetarian friendly, by the way) on a bagel, english muffin or toast. The sandwich was very, very good and stayed with me for several hours. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Some of the baked goods that I didn't get looked out of this world, and one worker was actively baking some in the back of the store. For a filling and affordable breakfast place, stop at Sunup Bakery. Just be prepared to take it to go.

The Sunup Bakery is the bees knees when it comes to baked goods in Killington, Vermont. My favorite morning treat is a fresh croissant, regular latte, and Vermont apple cider. I also enjoy their sandwiches at lunch. Only downside is it can get quite crowded. Atmosphere: Classic a-frame construction gives you the feeling you're in your uncle's 1970s ski house. Tip: If you're in a rush I recommend calling in advance for pickup as the line in the morning can delay your trip to the mountain by 15-20 minutes.

I had the same breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, avocado, and salsa) on a bagel (sesame) the two mornings that I was here for a vacation. It was so good both days and kept me full. Their coffee is also delicious. We were going to try a different place the second day, but they were so good, we couldn't resist goging back!

Espresso Bread Pudding Muffin I left a lot of space. I was going to make that my review. It stands on its own. Sunup is near the mountain (Killington). It is a great place to stop and grab breakfast to start a long day. Coffee, tea (in a fill up brewing pouch) or a sandwich (breakfast and lunch sandwiches were tasty) are all excellent. But... Espresso Bread Pudding Muffin

Clean, tasty, consistently well-prepared food. Also the girl that runs the counter is the cutest girl in Vermont

I am a Killington newbie and with being a newbie comes finding a spot to find a hearty breakfast before skiing or boarding. Traveling with a group of friends, we spotted Sunup Bakery and decided to take a look. We ended up grabbing breakfast here two days in a row!The first time I had the Green Mountain on a bagel. The sandwich was delicious! The eggs were runny, the bagel was perfectly toasted, and the bacon was cooked to the way I like it, chewy but with some crispness. Today I tried the eggs, salsa, cheddar, and avocado. I personally don't like salsa on sandwiches, so I ordered the sandwich without it. I'll admit, the sandwich lacked flavor because I thought it came with bacon but I was wrong. It was still good, as was the hot chocolate.

The Vermont maple latte is probably one of the best drinks I have had. Such a cute place!

Best homemade donut I've ever had. Seriously. Simple perfection with brown sugar.

A quaint wooden lodge that sits atop a flight of stairs, Cafe Sunup was the perfect welcome to Killington. The chocolate cake with ganache was decadent! So most and delicious. I also got bread pudding with chocolate chips and chocolate chip croissants which were amazing. You can tell I'm a big fan of chocolate! And everyone who worked there was especially friendly.

This place does not measure up to the reviews it's received here. Horrible customer service, and completely unwilling to accommodate any minor request that was not listed on the menu. I understand that's it's a busy place, but that doesn't create an excuse to treat customers like garbage.

Sunup Bakery rocks!!! the best breakfast sandwiches ever. Their granola is amazing and I think it is the best I have ever tasted! Their cinnamon donuts are also the best!

I have been to Sunup three or four times now. I am going to try to be unbiased by my last experience here today, but it is hard I confess... Sunup has an advantage being the only place on the mountain to get a latte, and they really need some competition. Yes, their sandwiches are quite good and they do make a mean espresso brownie. However, every time I have come to the Sunup, whatever grouchy old lady they have at the front (no matter which one) seems to act like I shouldn't be there and that they don't want my service despite the fact that I'm about to drop 5 to 10 bucks... I don't get it. The second time I came here, I ordered a triple latte. She made me a double and told me that's what I told her to make. I should have given her a fight based on the fact that I'M the customer, but I walked away... Today, we had another old grouch at the counter and we ordered an iced coffee, hot coffee, and a smoothie. At the last minute, my little sister added a chocolate cupcake (forgive her for the inconvenience, but she's 10). The woman seemed so visibly inconvenienced that my mom and I both exchanged the "what's her problem?" look. So right now, we are at 3 stars. My sister brought the cupcake home, was enjoying it over the kitchen sink when she bit into something rock hard. Makes sense given the fact that what she bit into WAS a rock. Thank goodness she didn't break her teeth on it! My mom stopped by to complain and she got a pretty unreflective "sorry" and an emotionless gesture of a refund with a few bucks tossed onto the counter, and then the woman walked away. I think the most telling part of this exchange is that the woman didn't even ask if my sister was okay. I'm giving this place 2.5 stars for my last three visits and 1 star in light of today's events.

Not bad, but they should have a better selection of bread to purchase. Sadly, the whole area is missing this vital ingredient. I stopped by to get rolls for sammiches and the only had one type - long roll bread - baguette style. It was OK.

Okay so I only went to two places in Vermont during our ski trip but this place was great and I found myself looking forward to grabbing breakfast here before hitting the slopes. I recommend the pesto egg muffin (add bacon) as well as the espresso coffee muffin which everyone bit into and was like, (stare) "Whoa, that's good." Seriously. Try it. Their coffee is whatevers, but service is fast and friendly, and the space is cute.

Delicious breakfast sandwiches on croissants..crispy and tasty! Call ahead if heading to the mountain to save time. Friendly staff. We went 3 times of our 4 day visit.

We stopped by Sunup Bakery on our visit to Vermont and could not have asked for a better breakfast spot before skiing for the day. The staff was extremely friendly and felt like I was at home. Because the breakfast was so good we decided to stop after our ski day and get a coffee and a sweet treat. It just so happened the chocolate espresso bread pudding just came out of the oven. It was our lucky day because it was so delicious. If you have time on your trip Sunup Bakery is definitely worth your time.

Visited Killington with friends during this last snow storm of 2013! Awesome place, amazing nature... Went to Sun Up after reading reviews. Not sure about any grouchy ladies(reviews below), everyone was very sweet to us! Maybe we were nice to them so they were nice to us, hehehe. We had a Chai Latte several times, delicious. The pastries were very nice, especially the espresso chocolate pudding and linzer tart cookie. But the best draw was the breakfast sandwiches- unique combinations of fresh ingredients. If they can make a breakfast sandwich so delicious, so should everyone else! Eggs, with salsa, provolone and pesto! Amazing....I wish there were places like this in Brooklyn. My friend had a brie, fig and turkey, and oh boy was it tasty! I only had a bite though:-( Sun Up should open up a branch in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

Service was terrible, waited while the only 2 employees gabbed with a customer while my fiance and I waited 15 minutes and then had to remind the ladies we weren't waiting there for nothing. Got our breakfast sandwiches and the egg barely covered half the bagel. Eveeything was burnt to a crisp. Waste of time and money.

Based on the yelp reviews, I stopped in the other day on our way to ski. I bought the Espresso Bread Pudding Muffin based on the prior reviews. It has chocolate chunks in it too. I didn't love it but didn't dislike it. I actually thought it was better the next day! Chocolate chip cookie was not very good at all BUT....the peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie was good. I also got a cookie that was a shortbread type cookie with nuts and dipped in chocolate (how the woman at the counter described it). At my local bakery they call them English Tea Cookies. All in all, not bad. I can't say that the next time I go to Killington that I would be in a huge rush to get there. If you have a sweet tooth like me, it's the only choice in Killington. This is only based on baked goods and not their lunch or breakfast items.

Great baked goods. Breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. Nice folks too. The owner couldn't be more friendly! Ha! They did our daughter's wedding cake as well.... Awesome find for year round fare.

I've ordered everything from egg sanwiches to pastries to a whole chocolate cake from here and I have never been let down. Sunup Bakery is consistently packed during the ski season so my recommendation is to call in your order ahead of time if you're in a rush to make the first chair like I am. If you have time to chill, grab a self serve coffee and make small talk with the girls who run the place. They are all super nice. Top 3 orders: 1) Egg, Pesto, Tomato & Provalone on a Croissant 2) Espresso Bread Pudding Muffin 3) Raspberry & Cheese Danish

Loved it!! Had an AMAZING bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. Delicious and great way to start our day. Not a lot of room inside, so might not be ideal for big group, but don't miss if you're skiing at Killington!

Stopped here for lunch when it was -(3) little too cold to ski. Very cute bakery, and the cup of coffee was as good as yelp said. The sandwiches were actually great I had a Gobbler definitely home made turkey great flavor and the Vermont cheddar and avocado added to it. The subs on both the sandwiches were better then I expected but nothing like NY bread. My girlfriend had the Rosemarie chicken sandwich. It was good the roasted red peppers and onions helped to me it could have used some cheese but she was happy. I'm only giving them a 3 out of 5 because honestly it's a cute bakery with cute older ladies in it, who weren't that friendly. Food wise perfect, it totally beat my expectations. I expected more from the workers or owners. It almost seemed like they were mad at each other. Definitely get a cup of coffee enjoy it while you wait it is Vermont speed, but bring a book or someone to talk to because its not the old country feel that you expect it to have when you walk in. I would go again.

Ultra fresh sandwiches! Great breakfast and lunch sandwiches with friendly service! Cute house! Had the Rosemary Chicken, fresh avocado, and delicious chicken. Also had Pork Tenderlion, which was better! The pork has really tender and loved how the apples blended in the sandwich. Next morning, had breakfast: Avocado, salsa, egg & cheese: very good, once again fresh avocados, and made perfectly and fresh, this ain't your mcdonald's mcmuffins! Canadian bacon, egg & cheese: fresh canadian bacon ham, well made.

Espresso Bread Pudding Muffin was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Ever. We're taking a trip from NYC to Montreal this summer and considering adding 2 1/2 hours to our trip just to get another one of these things. We ended up at this place toward the end of summer (2010), so we had it all to ourselves, but we thought the crowds in the winter, trying to fit into this small space, might be a turn off. Luckily, we weren't dealing with that at the time, so 5 stars all the way!

  • Krista C.

Everything here is delicious! The day old basket is an absolute deal and totally yummy! The egg sandwiches are to dream about and the lunches are not bad either! Gets a bit tight in the mornings during ski season, to be expected considering how unbelievable thier food is! Only downside is the coffee is a little weak, even the Sumatra, which is meant to be one mean cup o joe. Outside of this, get yourself there if you're in Killington, or even near it!

My fiance and I found this place on yelp and stopped in for lunch. AMAZING fresh bread, great sandwiches, and *best* chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. The baked goods all looked awesome. Worth drive up from Boston just to eat at this place and hang out in VT.

I ended up here last weekend because it was pouring rain and Dunkin Donuts was too far over the mountains. What a wonderful thing to happen! I brought the kids a variety of pastries and they devoured them. I especially enjoyed the lemon blueberry scone. I bought a breakfast sandwich for my husband. His only complaint was that the egg was fried vs scrambled, but that's personal preference. And I was able to get my iced coffee fix which was very good.

This is our favorite bakery/sandwich/coffee shop.As soon as the roads are repaired from "Irene" we're running up there! Yesterday we visited a popular upscale restaurant(not in Killington) and were so disappointed. the quality was not even close. Good luck Laura, we can't wait to have the best sandwich, coffee and bread pudding, etc. in the state.

really dig this place. our go-to quick and easy breakfast spot when we don't feel like making breakfast, which is evolving to be every morning when in vermont. sweet and savory options abound, and though i tend to prefer savory (bacon) for breakfast, sunup has great doughnuts, muffins and espresso chocolate bread pudding. and no less than five coffee offerings.
