The Baja Burrito is fantastic! It's under new management (as of 2015), and they sure know how to run a restaurant. The food is delicious, the drinks are tasty (and strong) and the staff is very friendly. I recommend anything with pulled pork in it - they did an excellent job with it, and my pulled pork burrito was so delicious I often think about going back for another. EVERYTHING is made fresh - the salsa & guac, the chips, you name it. And the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend if you're looking for a low-key but fun evening in Killington.

Love the Chalet Killington however Baja Burrito needs some help. We got tacos, enchiladas, and the Baja burrito No one was impressed, lacked true mexican taste, burrito has about 8-9 ingredients that were all mixed together in a nice slop concoction, wasn't terrible but for $15 a burrito it was incredibly lacking. Beef Tacos were simple and good but we're pretty basic bland and plain, similar to a home taco Enchiladas were good but had an odd sweet mole sauce, food seemed cheap Decent chips and salsa, some good hot sauce that saved the dish, place has potential but needs a new menu with some changes

Horrible food poisoning when we are here during presidents week 2015. I had chicken while the rest of the table had beef. Up all night throwing up. Missed skiing for an entire day. They charge more for take out. Terrible salsa. If I could give zero stars I would.

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat at Killington. Its now off our list. The salsa sucked. My kids said it tasted 'weird'. We ordered the bean dip appetiser which was 90% sour cream. Our dinners were OK. I ordered the fajitas which were a bit bland. The beer I ordered was FLAT. Service was average, nothing of note either good or bad. Perhaps it was a bad night or maybe it was because it is the end of the season. Either way I wasn't too thrilled and won't be going back.

They ran out of rice! A Mexican restaurant ran out of rice yet somehow when my burrito came it was filled with 90% rice. Pre-made? Our server was very nice but the manager actually came over and scolded my table for saying the margaritas were too sweet.

Baja Burrito offers just fine, typical Tex Mex and is a good alternative to pizza for after skiing. It's small and so you need to get there early or be prepared to wait. The atmosphere is fun and the staff are friendly. It's moderately priced, moderate for a ski resort. It would be nice if they added take out, especially considering their small size, and many like take out after skiing. Definitely worth stopping by.

Service was good! Everything else was terrible. My burrito had carrots and corn in it. I really think it was a frozen bag of mixed vegetables that they used. Pulled pork was worse than Costco and was just frozen pork with baby rays sauce on it.

Was just up there last weekend for an end-of-season ski trip, and stopped into this place for an apres-ski beer and snack with a few buddies. We pulled up to the well-stocked bar and the first thing we noticed was the friendliness of the barmaid. She was a highlight of our visit - not THE highlight, but she was very cool and service was spot-on. The baskets of chips and salsa she brought out were Mongo-sized, which helped curb our appetites while we waited for our order. The salsa was fresh and the chips still warm. We ordered wings, but weren't able to select a style/sauce (one-spice-fits-all, evidently) and maybe it took a bit longer than normal for them to come out. A good selection of beers, with several local ones, is available, plus cider and of course all kinds of bottles, so we were occupied by selections and also talking to the barmaid and other patrons. When our wings did come out, they were absolutely worth the little extra wait (which, by the way, is because they are not deep fried like so many others... they're baked... in fact, we were told they're baked THREE times!). These were literally some of the best wings I have ever had. Without a drop of any sauce or blue cheese, I ate most of a dozen - damn, I had to share! - and was pretty satisfied with the quantity of food (esp. after lots of chips/salsa). But the flavor!!!!! That was the highlight of the snack/meal. Holy crap were they good! Not incredibly hot, just right. So much flavor, due to the 3 bakings with different spice rubs applied in between. I'd go back there again in a heartbeat, just for the wings. We didn't order anything else, as we all had dinner plans later. But the other food coming out past us looked kind of ordinary tex-mex. I can't comment on that, but I can say that you should abSOlutely (!!!) go there to get the wings... and hang out with the barmaid, if she's there...

The place just re opened under new ownership in November 2014 so they may still be working some things out. However, the owner and staff are very service oriented and the food is very good. There is a lot of passion and fun in this place and just what Killington needed. I give it 5 stars for effort and know it will be a 6 soon.

Just go somewhere else, there are better restaurants around. The food was just ok, I had the shrimp fajitas, they were ok. My husband had the enchiladas, not very good. We walked in and there was no hostess for a few minutes, when she did come out she said to just have a seat anywhere but didn't bother to get us menus. I went behind the desk to pick them up. We went at around 4:30-5, so it wasn't very busy at all. The waitress was ok, she did a good job coming around but it took a while to get our check. I ordered a diet coke and it took a while because they hadn't mixed the soda yet. The best thing I liked was the salsa and guacamole, so if your just there for dips and drinks it will be a good place, just go a head and sit at the bar.

Go see Norm, sit at the bar, enjoy the vibe and have enough to drink so that the terrible food tastes great since you are so drunk. Seriously, there is no reason in the world the food needs to be so bad. But I love going to the bar and having a blast with the bartenders! After 2 hours you are made to wear a sombrero and fake moustache, so fun! Please fire your chef and find someone who knows how to make Mexican food!!!!

Decent place for burritos, tacos and nachos. The girls seemed to enjoy the mixed drinks. Burritos are huge and filled with cheese. The home made salsa is mediocre. The guac is okay, but small.

Dispicable food, outrageous prices, terrible service, awful atmosphere. Learn from my mistakes, don't eat at Baja Burrito. I know there's slim pickings for Mexican food in the area, but you're better off going to Taco Bell.

Went here expecting more of a taquería but found a full mexican menu and bar. Made me instantly thirsty for a margarita. 2 guys (Mike and Tom I think) were taking care of the tables and were very attentive to our service. I asked about their margaritas and satisfied that they would be properly made ordered one for me and my wife. They came out all frothy and on the rocks with salt just like I like them. The chips tasted either home made or like they were heated a little crispier. They went well with the freshly made salsa. We ordered fish tacos (3) and beef enchiladas (3). The food came fairly quickly and was presented nicely with beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, sour cream and a pineapple mango salsa. Everything tasted good but was way more food than we could eat. The prices seemed a little high but maybe reasonable in a resort area. Surprised that our margaritas were a $ off. Restaurant is attached to a small lodge and some of the patrons might have been staying there. Also seemed to be some locals or regulars at the bar. I think I'd be a regular if I was a local too.

If you're tired of ski lodge/bar food...give this place a try. It's not the greatest Mexican food ever but as an earlier reviewer mentioned, it's Vermont and a ski town restaurant. Good prices and they have a good happy hour and half price burritos!

You want to hang here. Cool hip and young. Great for margarita and burrito! Come après ski. Best ever for local vibe at a great price

We have been going up to Killington for about 10 years and have about 4 favorite restaurants we go to. Thought we'd change it up and try Baja Burrito and what a HUGE mistake. Service was atrocious ! Food was mediocre. Back to going to our favorite restaurants.

    (1)
  • Shane K.

Service was pleasant, the water was good. The steak burrito was lacking...steak. A cheesy uncle bens rice with veg burrito may have been a more apt description. It's fine if you want some carbs after skiing but if your looking for a meal of substance, I'd look elsewhere.

After waiting over an hour for our food, we still had hopes that if our meals were incredible, our sour mood would be alleviated. It wasn't. Each person in my six person party was severely let down by their dishes. Contents in the burritos, tacos, and fajitas were all the same and were viewed as "tasteless", "bland", and "cheap". That means low quality vegetable ingredients and cafeteria chicken. One point worth noting was their great selection of locally made hot sauces, but with no affiliation to the restaurant itself and some of the worst excuses for tortilla chips I've ever been served - a bag of tostito's would put shame to these soggy corn flakes - this is not much of a victory. If you're still looking for reasons not to go to Baja, the service was awful. Even upon solicitation from our party, the waitress and hostess together could not keep our beverages filled or our questions answered as to the status of our meals.

Baja Burrito may look humungous from the outside, but that is because it is connected to a bed & breakfast chalet. The restaurant itself is a quaint little place of about 10 tables and bar area seating about 8 people. The place is cozy with Christmas lights in the shape of chilis laid across the walls and ceiling. Several LCD TV's are also spread across the room for those wanting to catch some sports. On their menu is a variety of tacos, burritos, salads, enchiladas, fajitas, burgers, and a few entrées like steak and fish. Prices range between $8 - $20. My friend's been raving about their burritos and hot sauces since his last encounter so we decided to check this place out. We asked the waitress for recommendations and she advised us the two favorites were the Beef Burrito ($12.95) and Chicken Burrito ($12.95), which we decided to order both and share. A complimentary basket of warm tortilla chips and a helping of tomato salsa were provided as we waited for our food. The salsa consisted of freshly diced tomatoes and red onions mixed together to make for one very natural, not too salty salsa. Since the place was mostly empty, our burritos only took about 5 minutes to come out. My guess is that most of the ingredients were already premade and just needed to be scooped and mixed together. The burritos were huge, similar to the size of Chipotle's, mixed with rice, beans, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese. It was cut in half making it easy for us to share. On the side of the beef burrito was a helping of chopped lettuce, tomato salsa and sour cream. The chicken burrito was complimented with chopped lettuce, mango salsa and sour cream. They were both good hearty burritos without the sodium-induced flavoring. Very natural. Alone the burritos may be ever so slightly bland (if you're accustomed to the Chipotle burritos), but add some chopped lettuce, salsa, sour cream, and one of their bottled sauces, and you should find yourself quite satisfied. My favorite bottled sauce was the Chipotle Sauce, smoky with a hint of spiciness. We had asked the waitress about their extremely hot sauces (i.e. Pain), to which we were sadly informed that they have decided to forgo making those extremely hot sauces and resort to the mild sauces, all of which are made in Vermont. Both proteins were very tender and moist. If I had to decide between the two, I'd have to say the sweetness of the mango salsa really made the chicken burrito shine, but the beef alone as compared to the chicken seemed to carry slightly more flavor. That all goes to the wayside when you start pouring their sauces on top of your burrito. Service was great, as our waitress was very friendly and came over multiple times to check up on us. She was never overly obtrusive and seemed to always come at the right times, clearing our dishes, refilling our drinks, and handing us the bill. When we got the bill, we were surprised to see that our burritos were discounted. When we spoke with the waitress, we were informed that between 3 PM - 6 PM, everyday, all appetizers and burritos are 50% off. However, there are no happy hour specials on alcohol but are decently priced. A pint of Long Trail will bring you down $4.75. A slight setback but pleasantly surprised that our burritos only cost $6.50 each.

The food is decent, but maybe slightly below the average you can expect from a Mexican place. If you are going to get their food, do take out. The inside is small and the atmosphere, well there isn't one.

The Baja Burrito Co. is one of only a couple of Mexican food joints on the Killington Road strip. It serves a conventional and conventionally-tasty list of sit-down Tex-Mex standards, including overstuffed burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, and tacos, as well as hamburgers and some other non Tex-Mex stuff. It offers an unusual happy hour with no discounts on drinks (that I saw) but half-price on all appetizers and burritos -- given that burritos run over $10 that means $5 off each, not too shabby. The happy hour ends pretty early (6 p.m.) but that's not bad for an apres-ski option. The bar room has a bunch of high tables which were PACKED when we were there (during said happy hour on a core vacation week in ski season) and there are also some quieter low tables in the adjacent hotel fireside lounge. Note: they have a custom cocktail list with some cocktails that are pretty imaginative and strongly poured!

  • Nick W.

When you walk in, it is immediatley clear how cheap, tacky, and depressing the experience is going to be. The "fire-side lounge" is really an old frumpy couch, the decor is nothing but red chile lights stapled to the ceiling with some painfully bad beach scene painted on the walls. The atmosphere is provded by the Music Choice REGGAE channel on a TV in the corner, meanwhile lonely drunks can watch skiiing on the TV at the bar. They can't even get their theme straight. When you read their menu, you'll see that everything is outrageously priced, so you assume it will be good. The food is clearly meant for rich drunk people who don't care what it tastes like. Because I don't eat dairy, I requested to replace the sourcream and cheese on my $11 burrito with guacamole (which is supposed to be $1.50 extra). I thought that this was a perfectly reasonable request, what with the price of meat, cheese, and sour cream deducted, how can you try and charge me $11 for beans, rice, and iceburg lettuce? When the waiter arrived to take our order, surprised that we were not ordering alcoholic beverages, because that is, no doubt their main source of income, he was sarcastic and unnappealing. When asked for the swap out of cheese for guacamole, he stammered and struggled to tell us in the coolest way possible that they don't have avacados, but tubs of guacamole. So? I don't understand why that matters. Well, he says "no, because guacamole is extra" and DENIES the request! I would have left right then and there, however, being that I had come with friends, I felt it would have been too rude, so I bit by tongue. After eating two baskets of greasy, tasteless chips with "salsa" (chunks of tomatoes) which I wouldn't have even touched had I not been so hungry, our food finally arrives. I really don't know why it took so long seeing as the restaurant is just about empty and the food that is placed in front of us was comparable to a school lunch! What I'm staring down at is a dry, cracking, pale and unnappetizing burrito consisting of nothing but beans and rice, with some more tomato chunks and a pile of iceburg lettuce shreds on the side, oh, and the waiter had a change of heart and thought it would be nice to give me a teaspoon of guac on the side afterall. Thanks, guy. I got to taste it, hurray! He was clearly proud of himself, too. What I didn't understand (aside from how they stay in business) is why they didn't put the lettuce and tomatoes inside the burrito. It's clearly not a side salad, and not an attractive garnish, so were they merely too lazy? I have never left a restaurant feeling so ripped off, empty, and depressed in my life. Honestly, just the atmosphere of this place made me so uncomfortable and sad!

Service was pleasant, the water was good. The steak burrito was lacking...steak. A cheesy uncle bens rice with veg burrito may have been a more apt description. It's fine if you want some carbs after skiing but if your looking for a meal of substance, I'd look elsewhere.

Kind of pathetic. Nothing authentic about this place...lacking taste. On the positive side they do have some good tequila.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
