My husband and I came here around 10:30 for breakfast on a Saturday. We really liked it. The decor is awesome and the place has a really cool feel. We both ordered english muffin breakfast sandwiches. The only thing preventing me from giving this place five stars was the fact that they used American Cheese on the sandwiches. Blech. I am admittedly a snob when it comes to American Cheese. Other than that it was delicious and reasonable :]

Visited for the first time today. The place was jumping at noon on a rainy Saturday -- nearly full to capacity. I had a plain coffee (bold, not mild), which was much better than Starbucks but not as good as Hiram Haines' French-pressed house blend two blocks away. To eat I has the Gentle James: an English muffin wirh almond butter, slices of green apple, banana slices, honey drizzle, and cinnamon. Beautiful and delicious, a great balance of flavors. I also tried the chocolate-covered bacon, which was great -- at once crisp and chewy, very bacony tasting, with a rather soft chocolate coating and a bit of espresso sprinkled on top. YUM. The space is beautiful, with exposed brick walls and inlaid wood ceiling. The very upbeat music to which the radio was set was not to my coffee-shop taste, as I prefer to settle in and read in a quieter environment, but maybe it's different at other times. I'll certainly be back to find out! Demolition Coffee is a GREAT alternative to the ubiquitous sameness of Starbucks. We're lucky they decided to settle in Petersburg instead of the more metropolitan Richmond.

I absolutely love this place! Demolition coffee is better than Starbucks! I've loved everything I've had to eat there. The pooh bear latte is amazing! Not to mention the atmosphere is warm and cozy. An absolute must when visiting Petersburg!
(5)Traci R.
The most perfect coffeeshop! I racked my brain trying to find something I didn't like but I couldn't think of anything that was THAT big of a dealbreaker. The biggest thing I love about this coffeeshop is that they serve your coffee with the tree design in the milk. I know that's quite petty but it's such a nice touch. On top of that, it was THE best caramel latte i've ever had...and I've had many-a-latte. Food. I wasn't expecting the food to be spectacular because they're secondary but I was definitely surprised. I had the 'Bipski with Ham' and every bite was delicious. It was just a simple ham, egg, and cheese biscuit but so much better! My breakfast companion had the breakfast burrito and it too...was DELICIOUS! Now this one I have to brag about....the FULL MONTY!! Choose your bagel [i chose plain], choose your cream cheese [i chose parmesean chive], top it with cilantro, tomatoes, sea salt, and onion....and VOILA! I chose to remove the onions because it was early morning but this was the most amazing bagel I've ever had. The description of it concerned me but I'm so glad I took the chance. I highly recommend it! The atmosphere is simple and trendy. Great place to go and do some work. They've got numerous tables and free-wifi. They also have a couple couches if you want to curl up while you read a book of your own, or one from their small library...and I mean small. The location? Not my favorite. Parking is super limited and it's in an area that doesn't really have much else around it but Demolition Coffee is doing Petersburg a favor by being there. So if you find yourself in Petersburg for any reason, you MUST go here!

I was passing through driving from North Carolina to Maryland and I wanted a coffee break. Found this place on google maps and decided to check it out. Very cool place with a sort of renovated mill building feel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got an espresso and an apple danish both of which were excellent. The bathrooms are very clean also, which is something I very much appreciate!
(5)Cathy T.
Great place! Enjoyed the Full Monty-a lot! Coffee was very good, so fresh. My hubby had the hombre, it was very very delish! Will definitely be back!
(5)Robert B.
I have been wanting to come here a have cup java. Well I got here and I was impressed in what they had done with that old building. If you look at the photos it is kinda of rustic on the inside. When you walk inside the first thing you see is this huge piece of steel, which has a painting on it. They also have a large patio and some nice tables inside. I ordered a large dark roast coffee. As I drank my delicious coffee I walked around the place. Now they got some pastry here and you can get some sandwiches, and some teas. Also have sodas and some beer fruit juices, so you can get what what taste buds desires here. But come just to check out the place it is just cool place to hang out. I will be going back real soon.
(4)Steven B.
Love the atmosphere, it's a very chill place with a great combination of different coffees, delicious sandwiches and tasty treats at a pretty decent price. The staff is friendly and honestly, not a single reason not to like this place! Not only do they do a good job keeping you awake, they keep your belly happy because those sandwiches are off the chain! You can choose six different types of breads/condiments (pretty much mayonnaise based) to go along with your meaty (or not so meaty) fillers.
(5)Earl C.
This seems like it could be central to Old Town Petersburg. Friendly staff are present, but the thing that bothers me is the fact you have to retrieve the meal you ordered at the counter... For the amount their sandwiches are costing, I would expect some reasonable service. My friend and I placed out dirty dishes on condiment counter coz we didn't know where to place them properly and the lady behind the counter said "I'll let it slide this time, but next time you need to take it over there (pointing at the area where the bins are located)" I was thinking to myself "If I don't want to get yelled at, then I need to obey this chick's orders..." I do agree with Ruth R. about the tipping issue... Other than that, the place seems quaint and relaxing. The exposed brick walls give it that cozy look. It's spacious and clean! Lots of students come and chill here. I ordered their vanilla latté - very good! Also ordered their Wolfgang Bock and Tomato Basil Soup - the soup was very tasty, but the sandwich was average.
(3)Shannon S.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. The coffee is better than any coffee that I've ever had. Their breakfast is delicious. They serve breakfast all day. The atmosphere is really nice & clean. Very modern. Service is very fast, staff is friendly. A little pricey...I wouldn't say it's anymore than Starbucks. BUT WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY. The only downfall is that they are only open until 3 pm. :(
(5)Ivan B.
Great price for a latte and it's in a quite location. Lovely inside which is inviting.....now down to the good stuff. I always judge a place by its latte skills and this place gets a B+. Espresso was ok but milk needed to be steamed just a tad longer.
(4)Mary D.
Can't say enough about this place. My husband and I had breakfast here while on vacation and loved it. Cute little warehouse type setting, staff very polite and efficient. You order at the counter and when your order is ready you go up to get it. I had the Blueberry waffles which were to die for and so was the coffee. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his hombre burrito, couldn't stop talking about how good it was. Hopefully we will get to eat here again on another trip.
(5)Jim P.
Cool place to sit and enjoy a wonderful espresso or latte. In addition they made the unique Italian Cream Sodas. But my favorite is the home-made Banana pudding. It is like none Ive ever tasted.... It is a comfortable atmosphere and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. I love this place over, lets say, Starbucks. More selection and taste with half the attitude...
(4)Sara H.
Stopped here for lunch on a long road trip from NJ to SC. It was a great find. Everything was very tasty and the atmosphere was lovely. We recommend anything you can get with green sauce on it. If they sold that stuff in jars we would have bought some to take with us. Very pleased - we would absolutely stop there again if the opportunity presented itself.
(5)Jason S.
Absolutely awesome! Great soup and sandwich - gourmet. Excellent latte. Nice atmosphere as well.
(5)Jack S.
Funky, hip, trendy coffee shop in a cool old building. It's the south, so of course they also sell chocolate covered bacon strips. Friendly customers and superyummy espresso to boot.
(5)Guy L.
Love at first sight. This is in an extremely nicely renovated old industrial building, it has a nice breakfast menu -- in other words, not just pastries and baked goods -- and the coffee is pretty good. It's very comfortable to sit and read in. If I lived in Petersburg, this might be my morning haunt.
(4)Charlie S.
The ladies at Demo are always cheerful and ready to serve. The coffee is great, and the sandwiches are always on point. One thing I've seen and smelled yet haven't tried yet are the soups. Must go back and investigate!
(5)Ravena J.
The only reason this place isn't getting five stars is because they didn't have more baked foods in the case. I loved this place and when I can compare it to shockoe coffee in Richmond and Baked & Wired in DC that's high praise indeed. There's was the kind of atmosphere I look.for in a gentrified area. Great use of an old building, wireless that works, coffee that I don't need to add sweetener to (also lacking the 5 stars here bc I don't know if its fair trade bc if it was there was no note of it anywhere) and baked good that are not from a box (i can always tell). I'll definitely be back to demo more coffee and hit the full.menu as well.
(4)Louise L.
When I started my job in Petersburg I was devastated to learn that the only close coffee shop at the time (Java Mio) had closed. I was driving to the Colonial Heights Starbucks for a lunch coffee fix. Demolition Coffee is a life saver. The building is a historic building in Petersburg, so they had to work pretty hard to ensure much of the building stayed the same when they remodeled it. It's got a kind of funky, independent film, village feel, perfect for a coffee shop. Drinks are dare I say better than Starbucks. And the food is definitely better because it's actually prepared on site. Full lunch menu. They make excellent cupcakes, muffins, pies, cakes, all made fresh. Definitely support this independent venue.
(5)Arthur F.
I'm often left to ponder how it is that a merchant determines a location and more importantly, how people stumble upon it. This question certainly holds true for demolition coffee. As someone who doesn't know much about the area, it seems misplaced in the urban landscape. Yet in my short visit, they weren't wanting for business and for good reason! Upon entering, you are faced with a true independent urban coffee purveyor, with plenty of seating and an eclectic clientele. In heading towards the counter, there is a healthy display of pastries, unlike what is faced in chain shops. The employees appeared to be happy and my server seemed genuinely happy to see me. The coffee that is served was rich and tasty. The music was of the acoustic guitar centered satellite channel delivered nature, providing a tranquil environment in which to enjoy the coffee. This single coffee based experience left me with the sense that this was the kind of place in which anyone could peacefully wile away the hours. I know I will certainly find a way to take advantage of my new crown jewel of local coffee!
(4)William B.
With the collapse of Java Mio, Demolition Coffee has moved in and more than taken up the slack. They have a very good selection of coffee beverages and a small, but interesting menu. The food is made of quality ingredients and prepared only after you order. I'm a partisan for the Wolfganger Bock. They also have a strawberry limeade which balances sweetness and tartness very well. My only complaint is the lack of an actual bar which forces me to sit at a table. That complaint is very minor.
(4)matt h.
Demolition Coffee is a gem - and is what downtown Petersburg should be using as a model in the ongoing revival of this historic area. Four reasons to love Demolition: 1) Great coffee, wonderful pastries, outstanding sandwiches. 2) Beautiful execution in the design, update & restoration of the building - it would be worth a trip just to see the imaginative design and quality of work. 3) Exceptionally cool and helpful staff. 4) Great live music every so often. It's also a great place to hang out and read a book. Petersburg needs more places like this - check it out.
(4)Jessica W.
FANTASTIC coffee. Nice atmosphere. Quick, friendly service.
(5)Steve S.
I really like this place! The coffee's always GREAT, and I've never had a bad meal. But the best thing that brings me back, over and over, is the atmosphere. It's cozy, usually quiet, and a nice place just to snuggle in with a book.
(4)Richard W.
Decent spot for coffee with very nice decor, especially being in Petersburg, but leaves a little to be desired. If you're looking for a local alternative to Starbucks this is probably what you're after. Unfortunately, they won't even sell you a single shot of espresso, however, and they aren't open in the evening, and well, I'll leave it at that.
(3)Dee F.
Great food, fast service, and probably the best mocha I have ever tasted. Mocha was bitter sweet and just right. Wish I found this place sooner on my four week trip.
(5)Angie J.
If you make it to Old Town Petersburg, don't miss this spot! Demolition Coffee is as good as it gets. Love the "Gentle James" breakfast sandwich.. open faced almond butter, apple and honey on a toasted english muffin. The coffee is top notch, the staff is friendly, and there's just an overall good vibe in there. Good to see it is bustling with business every day!
(5)Jo Ann B.
I love this spot! I am training @ Fort Lee for two months and was desperately looking for some coffee other than Starbucks. Thanks to Yelp I found Demolition Coffee. I am from Los Angeles and this place has a real laid back vibe. I felt like I was back home for a minute. The coffee and breakfast is super good. There is free WIFI, plenty of seating and an outdoor area.
(5)Jun V.
It's all about the rockin' reuben..
(5)Sean P.
I had an enjoyable experience with Demolition Coffee (DC). The food is very delicious and filling. The coffee is very enjoyable and unique as you would expect from an independent business such as DC. But what really has me coming back is the very friendly and courteous staff that is always very polite and expedient in getting your order out in a timely manner. The atmosphere is eccletic but still has a Southern charm to it. I enjoyed it and will return again!
(5)Daniel B.
The quality, care and atmosphere are far beyond what I was expecting at this Petersburg hideaway. I had a wonderful latte perfectly executed. I also had a surprisingly delicious bagel sandwich with turkey. I highly recommend visiting if you are in need of real baristas and making coffee with real skill.
(5)Kelsy F.
Went in for a quick coffee and ended up getting the Dano-turkey, bacon, and cheddar. Amazing! I also got their Black Handshake which was delicious. It's a chocolate coffee milkshake-great dessert and satisfied my coffee craving. Cute/Quaint place too, definitely returning soon.
(5)Stacey P.
Great little coffee shop that's a short walk from the heart of Old Towne Petersburg. We only had beverages, so I can't speak to the food, but we all liked what we ordered - save for a Brit who was disappointed at the presentation of his tea. The pastries looked very tempting, but none uf us were hungry enough to try them. Great atmosphere - the kind of place I would likely frequent if I lived nearby.
(4)Sheera H.
The baked goods are either amazing or very so-so. I've only had a few of their coffee drinks. My husband liked them while I found them overly sweet. Great atmosphere.
(2)Cathy R.
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Prompt service, a bit pricy, but delish!
(5)Christine J.
I wish I had discovered this place sooner! Just when you thought Petersburg had nothing to offer, you find a wonderful place like this. The staff are friendly, the place is spacious and they have enough food and beverage to keep you chatting there for hours. They have done a great job. Only suggestion is to make the sandwiches a little more generous (like perhaps including chips?) to make this a better value.
(4)Steve A.
Huge fan of Demolition, and I tried a new menu item tonight. I cannot recommend it enough. The vegetarian chili is out of this world. It is a little soup like than I think chili should be, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is absolutely amazing.
(5)Thomas O.
Reeeaallly, Reeeallly hipsters? Ok, I've spent a lot of time in DC, NYC and San Fran and had some good coffee and sandwiches so listen up. Lay off the herb! I read the positive reviews and headed down to Demo coffee for lunch. Had a Reuben that was made from little bits of shredded chicken. Cats, a Reuben is not made from chicken. It was soggy with overly sweet dressing and too much kraut. It came with a lttle disposable thimble full of pasta salad and I ordered an iced tea that was weak and cost about $2 (no refills) in what looked like a 10 oz plastic cup full of ice. Total bill $10.03. There were about 12 other patrons and it still took awhile to get my sandwich. A waitress came by and asked me if I ordered banana pudding. Later, another came by and asked me if I ordered something else. Demo coffee is thought to be charming because there's nothing like it in Petersburg or the Tri-Cities for that matter. If you want to hang with the tragically hip and look at your IPad while Dave Matthews warbles on in the background then this is the place for you. It states I know I'm in Petersburg but I'm cool, just look where I drink my coffee and I like to bus my own table (because you have to drop your plate in a little bus pan on your way out the door). If you're looking for a decent sandwich at lunch go to Longstreets a few blocks away. You can actually get a Reuben made with Pastrami or Corned Beef.
(2)J V.
I wanted a non-Starbucks/DD caffeinated beverage on a recent I-95 road trip, and found Demolition Coffee on Yelp; what a great find! Sure, it's located among a maze of one way streets in a tiny town, but it's quite worth the stop! Their drip coffee was fantastic and easy to drink, and both the blueberry and cranberry-orange muffins were truly the best my husband and I have ever had. Each muffin was moist inside and topped with just the right amount of sugar. I'd love to go back for a full breakfast; the menu makes my mouth water!
(5)Sarah F.
This is my absolute favorite place for breakfast and coffee in the area. Their sandwiches are cheap, delicious, and always hot. Their coffee is beautifully made with plenty of flavor. I often get the latte which is always perfect. The decor inside is rustic and modern, and is a great change from the usual chain fare in the tri city area.
(5)Heidi J.
Everyone's in a while, I visit a coffee shop that I wish was in my own hometown. This one fits the bill! We were just leaving town, so we didn't have much time to enjoy it, but the food was fantastic. Tomato basil soup was my favorite and I am ever in the area again, I will be back! We noticed that there were a wide variety of ages at this restaurant. I think it speaks to their friendly service and overall family-friendly yet totally hip atmosphere :-)
(5)Rich S.
I had a very nice stop here for a late breakfast yesterday. The building appears to have once been used as a warehouse or other industrial use. It has been renovated into a trendy little oasis with exposed brick, interesting light fixtures and brightly colored walls. A nice-sized patio was a popular spot on the mild spring day, with several dog owners lounging out there. I shockingly did not order coffee, but instead had hot chocolate, which was pretty tasty. I ordered the El Hombre burrito with avocado. It was good, but I was a tad disappointed that the eggs were reheated in the microwave instead of being made fresh. And the wait was about 20 minutes. Staff were all pleasant and the place was just so cute and cozy. Such a great thing for Petersburg.
(4)H W.
Went to this charming cafe Saturday afternoon for some lunch and coffee! It was delicious! Me and my husband ordered the Le Bombe sandwich with pasta salad, it was very tasty and fresh. We also ordered a regular Latte and the Dirty Chia Latte. Both drinks were good! I love the atmosphere, food and drinks at this cafe. We will definitely be returning!
(5)Sharon D.
What a neat place! Gotta go here when visiting Virginia. Had a sandwich and soup. My daughter had the same. Was delish! Only thing was not a lot of food options for my 5 year old son. They could put a couple of things on the menu for the kids. Other than that. Flawless!!!
(4)Brad O.
Ate here two days in a row for brunch over Memorial Day weekend and can't wait to go back! I had my go-to iced caramel latte and it hit the spot. Warning: their default milk is whole milk so be sure to notify them if you want something with less fat. For food, I had the breakfast burrito with avacado and the Lox & Loaded. Lox & Loaded is salmon, tomato, onion, and cream cheese on your choice of bagel. I would recommend both dishes. Don't be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone here. It is so nice to go out for food that is wholesome and not loaded with grease. The atmosphere of the restaurant combines the coziness of a coffee shop and the buzz of a busy restaurant. There is also a large, sunny patio to enjoy your time outside.
(5)Demetria M.
I always plan to come here on my visits home but seem to never have the time until recently. I stopped in for breakfast on a rainy cold day after working out at the ymca just around the corner. I ordered the blueberry waffles with whipped cream and it was very good.....the berries were actually in the waffle mix which was even better. I know it's a coffee shop but the food is just as good.
(4)Tekeya H.
I was not impressed. I felt I would've cooked it at home. Others have told me to give it another try and I will. Great service and atmosphere.
(2)Cassidy F.
The environment of this place is really cool and casual. Definitely a nice place to hangout. Their coffee was really good. I went with a couple friends and we all got The Bipski breakfast sandwich and it was okay, just a tad too much egg. I got the Vanilla Latte which was really really good and my friend got their Caramel Latte which was also really good. Would definitely go back for their coffee, maybe not so much for their breakfast.
(4)Nicole B.
Great lattes! I was short on time so only had a chance to get a latte and it was delicious! Reasonably priced. Can't wait to try the food next time.
(5)Christie O.
No wonder this place has such good reviews! Great coffee, great food, and a great atmosphere. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town!
(5)Ragel G.
Coffee and sandwich were very good. Place looked like a cool place to hang out. Nice and mellow ambience
(4)Polina T.
I am so glad I was brought here. This place is so cute inside and out! The decor is just awesome. I'm a West Coast gal obsessed with brick buildings so I thought this place looked great. I ordered a "Yeti on Vacay" is that not an awesome name?!?! It's a latte with sugar (good, tasty, raw sugar), cinnamon and coconut! Anything with coconut had my heart. The drink was delicious! I noticed their drink prices are a bit on the high side, but they can do that considering where they are located (no real competition). My fiancee ordered a blueberry muffin, making me realize I'm a muffin top fan. The top was crunchy, causing me to eat more of it than I should have. I had a very pleasant coffee experience here, and I don't normally sit in coffee shops enjoying the ambiance.
(5)Brenda M.
I had the half sandwich and soup combo and it was amazing. Their egg salad has sweet relish (which is my favorite) and the soup of the day was mushroom and Brie. I also really like Sweet Mary's Big Bottom which was outstanding. The atmosphere was comfortable and I lived the building. They obviously take a lot of pride in the food and beverages they create and it really shows. I will be back
(5)Yesenia G.
This place is absolutely amazing. It's in a slightly run down area but I would still recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed urban setting. I will be making this my go to breakfast spot anytime I'm in the area. Thanks Demo Coffee!
(5)Crystal H.
My husband and I checked this place out after it being recommended by a friend, and we are glad we did. It is a very unique place, food was good and everyone friendly. However, the wait was a little long, which we didn't mind because we were not in a rush. We will definitely return!
(4)Katy B.
A little pricey for what you get. However, food is MTO, always hot and so yummy. The drinks are amazing too. The baristas know their stuff and craft perfect drinks. The sweet treats are done very nicely!
(5)John D.
In the Petersburg area there arent many coffee shops like this. In fact there arent many coffee shops at all in the tricity area. I appreciatrle this place and am glad its here but they need to improve a few things. Negatives: - The wait time is umacceptable. It takes 20 to 30 mins to get a sandwich. Even if no other customers are present. This makes it almost impossible to come here on a lunch hour. I dont know if they need to hire more employees or just get more efficient employees. On one occasion I saw about five employees in the kitchen and it still took 20 mins. The same oftem goes for espresso based drinks. If you go on a weekend morning be prepared to wait 30 mins for a cappucino. I lnow this isnt industrial starbucks and its an independent coffee shop but its still a coffee shop and people dont want to wait a half hour for coffee. - The coffee is hit or miss. Ive had really good cappucinos and very bitter ones. Same goes for their drip coffee. I dont know how frequently they change it but it is often bitter. - This probably isnt a big deal but maybe switch up the soundtrack. Play coffeehouse music or atleast music for the younger crowd. I came in here one day and the music sounded like something off of a 70s porn movie. Positives: - Even though the food takes a while to come out it is of high quality. I cant attest to the merit of all if the food but I can say the sandwiches are great. - This place has a really cool design and plenty of space outdoors to sit when the weather is nice. In terms of the not so glamorous downtown Petersburg this place is like an oasis in the desert. If the management is reading this, fix the errors and improve the efficiency of this place.
(3)David T.
Seriously? This place is fine. .. Great atmosphere, mediocre coffee, food takes forever and not very impressive, staff aren't so much rude as disinterested. .. This place could be so much better. ..
(3)Ralston W.
When I want to get away from the normal and have a really great treat. It's worth the trip. Only wish they would open later :-)
(5)Melissa C.
Delicious quiche, fabulous atmosphere and eclectic clientele. All seven people in our group loved everything they had!
(5)Marla B.
Stopped in on our way home from camping. We tried the grilled muffins, chocolate covered bacon, dirty chai and honey latte. All were great... Except the bacon was a little much. The grilled muffins tasted like they had just come out of the oven! Dirty chai was like Christmas in a cup. Would definitely recommend.
(4)Lauren T.
Delicious Biscuits and gravy!! Order it I promise you won't be disappointed!! Biscuits are homemade, cooked perfectly and were baked with bits of cheese, possibly cheddar. The gravy is delicious, and has a great consistency with bacon and sausage mixed in. It comes with eggs- I got mine scrambled and they were a little overcooked but no big deal. Cool vibe- exposed brick walls- currently decorated for the holidays with a beautiful Christmas tree. Open on Sunday. Large selection of coffee. Friendly service. Extra note- Hilarious yet creepy statue in front of building ( see pic).

If I could (or perhaps knew how) I'd add an additional half star but unfortunately I can't. Venue: I drove from Colonial Heights and you kind of have to drive through a run-down area to get here and for I moment I thought there was no way a coffee shop would be here but it is. I'm going to assume the name refers to the area it's in because it's around a bunch of abandoned buildings probably scheduled for demolition. Anyway, the inside is spacious, there's free wifi , and there's soft music playing in the background. The place is rather comfortable; so much so that I don't feel like getting up to check the bathroom. Overall, once you get inside it's nice. (4-stars) Customer Service: It can be chocked up to an interior design flaw but you're not greeted when you enter. Once I passed the counter it was still as if I was invisible so I took a seat. I went to the counter and STILL nothing was said to me so I just stared at the menu. Once I got to ordering the conversation seemed a little stale. I said "thank you" when I got my food and my coffee but it wasn't acknowledged. A "you're welcome" would've been amazing. (2-Stars) Pricing: The coffee is reasonably priced (I'll get to the taste later) so no complaints there. I ordered a blueberry waffle and a side scrambled egg. In this day and age I can't complain about a 5 dollar waffle but 2 dollars for one egg is a little steep (unless they're organic and cage free!). Finally, you're presented the receipt with tip before you have tasted the food! (3-stars) Food The mocha latte was awesome! You can really taste the dark chocolate and I like the little design they put on top. My 2 dollar egg was rather good too so no complaints there. The waffle was really really eggy and consequently kind of bland. It was troublesome actually eating the whole thing. (4-stars)

Just not a coffee shop. We stumbled upon Demolition Coffee and was pleasantly surprised with the experience. The staff was very helpful and patient while a selection was made. We split a wrap called the Blow Torch. Grilled chicken with cheddar cheese and sriracha sauce. It hit the spot great flavor and had some heat but not too much. I also had the lemonade which was great for a warm Saturday afternoon. The shop had a very comfortable feel to it and there is outside sitting area if one choses. We will be coming back and I don't even drink coffee.
(4)Erika F.
I'd have to say as sandwich shops go, this is definitely in my top favs. I've been here a few times now both with a large group and with a few co-workers the experience has been nice. When I go I usually get a salad with some type of meat on top. So far I've tried the chicken salad, the grilled chicken, and the veggie patty. All three had wonderful flavors and went well with the house vinaigrette dressing. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They do have chocolate covered bacon which is both salty and sweet. I wish it was a little more crunchy but I can't complain too much... it's bacon and chocolate... I couldn't ask for anything more. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups. This is a small coffee shop with limited staff and they're just honestly not equipped to deal with a large group coming in. They still bring out the food orders as fast as possible but because of the huge influx of 30 orders at once, the kitchen got a little backed up. That being said, the food still came out hot and the orders came out right.

This place is a nice place to grab coffee and a quick bite in Old Town Petersburg. The exposed brick and wood beams create a nice coffee house atmosphere. I typically get the Red Eye because coffee just isn't strong enough unless you add espresso. Their dirty chai is also on point, but again espresso makes me happy. As for food, Everything is Nom Nom! Specifically I've had the JVs Lunch Box which is an almond butter and banana sandwich that has honey on it. I wanted to smack someone after that. Maybe too much espresso. Anyway, the salads are good and healthy. They are super friendly there and willing to accommodate the pickiest of eaters. Only complaint is they close way too early...3pm!!!! I'm just getting dressed some days. Otherwise this is a great spot for anyone that likes a good coffee house and yummy food.

What a fantastic and unexpected find along the road! I've traveled past Petersburg for years between DC and Chapel Hill and never found anyplace for great coffee let alone good healthy fare. This place is a true gem! The cappuccino was incredible and I highly recommend getting some food especially the "Gentle James"!

We went for lunch and we received very nice customer service. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere is very laid back and soothing. They play easy listening music that's very trendy in the background. You almost get the feeling your hanging out in someone's loft relaxing having lunch. I ordered a Dano sandwich, it had turkey, bacon, and cheese. It came with a pickle spear and chips. This was all around 8.00. I also bought the chocolate covered bacon. I loved the salty with the sweet. Although it tasted like it had coffee mixed in with it and I don't care for coffee. I also bought a blueberry muffin which was to die for!!! I think the muffin was the whole reason I gave four stars. The only negative thing I can say is that the soft drinks are very expensive. You pay 1.25 for a can of soda. I think that's too much of a up charge. I'll have water. Other then that I'll be back for the muffins and to try the breakfast.

Hands down, best lunch in town. Best sandwiches! I just moved back to Petersburg after 3 1/2 years and was so happy to know Demo coffee was still around! They play great music too.

Absolutely love the hombre breakfast burrito! My boyfriend and I go here every time I'm in town visiting, my favorite place around fort lee! The lattes are also the best I've ever had!

I give them 5 stars for ambience, convenience to I 95 and service. But, the bagel tasted like it was pre-packaged / frozen. I didn't have them toast it because I was in a hurry. The cream cheese was generous, though. Also the cappuccino tasted odd, as if they didn't have espresso beans and used something different figuring that "hey, it's Petersburg, they won't know the difference". Let me tell you, we noticed. Would still recommend. It has a great location and is kid friendly.

So everything is amazing! I was on a two week business trip to Petersburg and ate here for breakfast or lunch everyday for a week, sometimes twice a day. I tried the blueberry muffins, Bipski Avocado, Wolfganger Salad, Green Machine Sandwhich, Dirty Banana Latte, Dirty Chai Latte, and Fruit Smoothie...all well worth the money!

Very good made to order coffee drinks. I think it has a much better flavor than your mega coffee chains and is cheaper. The staff is all very friendly. This is the kind of local business you want to support. The breakfast food is all very high quality also. There is free wi fi and plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor.

Good food! I had the green monster sandwhich and the ice tea and it was all very delicious. There Is a nice outside patio area as well to sit and eat which was very enjoyable.

I stopped by for the first time today to have lunch and do some homework. I got the bud in the tub sandwich which was pretty good! Nice music playing and FREE wifi! I got fruit with my sandwich which was a big joke! I had 5 grapes and a sliver of orange, should have got chips! Overall nice environment! I do want to add the the person at the counter did not acknowledge me when I came up which was a little rude. If it wasn't for her the place would have gotten 5 stars.

My husband and I researched places in Petersburg for lunch and thought based uppon reviews that this place would be neat to check out. The coffee house wasn't too loud and there was plenty of seating. I definitely love this place and would return. My chai tea latte was delicious and the food was great. My only complaint was that it took us awhile to figure out what to do with our dishes when we were done. The sign for it wasn't that apparent.

So yummy! Prices are great and the food even better! My sandwich was great and their pasta salad was delicious. I had the breve with my sandwich and took a chocolate chip cookie for later. Breve was foamy and rich and delicious. The cookie had crispy edges and soft gooey inside. Definitely coming again!!

Everything we tried was fresh and extremely delicious. For lunch, we tried the "Green Machine" sandwich with chips on the side and the half/half deal with a half "Stella Caprese" grilled panini paired with a half cup of tomato basil soup. The croutons in the soup were a nice touch. For dessert, we tried the chocolate chunk cookies which were soft and chewy and went perfectly with our Mocha (best I've ever had) and Wrecking Ball shake (very good). We also tried a slice of the chocolate covered bacon just for fun, which was surprisingly tasty. We will be back in the future!

This is a warm and amazing place. Coffee was amazing and the breafast was just to die for !!! The bipski avocado is great !!! The biscuit & gravy was delicious !!
(5)Ash M.
I lived in the apartment complex that was across the street. I frequented this great place: Food is delicious ; the coffee is strong ; the wifi is fast!!!! I would pick this spot over Starbucks any day.

Chocolate Chip Waffle with Bananas and Whipped Cream was okay. I have also tried the Blueberry waffle which is good. The plain waffle with banana's and walnuts is good also. Got a Croissant Egg Bacon Cheese sandwich...this was the best thing for the morning and would love to eat it every day. Crunchy panini bread and delicious insides. Try it! Mild coffee is okay...a little watery.

Excellent coffee. Have been there twice thus far and got The Dirty Banana (Espresso, Banana) and The Wrecking Ball (Espresso, Chocolate, Ice Cream). Excellently crafted with enticing flavor. All specialty coffees are $4.95 making it a fairly cheap product. Definitely would recommend to anyone that loves quality coffee at a fraction of the price.

This place is really cool. Funky atmosphere with great food. It gets really busy at lunch so be prepared to wait. Wish they had an evening menu with some good beer on tap.

The location of this establishment is prime. The staff is generally polite, except for the girl working on Sunday the 13th of April could use an attitude check. The management is was very rude overall to my roommate, my neighbor, and myself. I would give the food a solid 3 star rating, but again, my experience with the management will prevent me from being a loyal customer or just a customer period.

I've only been once, but really enjoyed my lunch, the ambiance and the coffee! A good spot to stop on a drive across the state.

Only passing through town, and not having been here before, we were not really familiar with anything. Plus we were in a loaner from the tire shop, so we didn't want to drive far. Luckily, Demolition Coffee was just around the corner. Add in the fact that the car was down a tire, so the name seemed appropriate. We were not actually looking for coffee, but rather for lunch, and wouldn't you know that they actually had sandwiches, too. Score. Some of the sandwiches are a bit more interesting than others, but all seemed to be rather tasty, and service was fast and friendly, allowing us to get back and pick up our vehicle quickly.

great machiatto and my veggie burger sandwich on rye was implemented in a tasty and attractive, appetizing fashion. Location is a nice, large, attractive space; an attractive brick building. Good place to hang out and study or use your laptop. Not far from the interstate, a nice pitstop if you are passing through as I was.

The atmosphere in this place is awesome and the food is absolutely delicious. I ordered the green machine and was pretty impressed. It's funny how such a crap city can have such good food.

This place is gorgeous. Old and rustic feeling, great decor, and very fast service. The coffee is delicious. I had a "hot caramel" with a shot of expresso and couldn't get over how good it was. The food is also exceptional. I had a "Bipski" with ham that was very tasty. My friend had "the ombre", and proclaimed it to be the best breakfast burrito he's ever had. If you are discouraged by the route down here, don't be. It's definitely worth it.
(5)Patrick M.
This place was great! Wonderful service, cool vibe, and most important great food and coffee. My wife and I stopped here after reading reviews and we were not disappointed. Plenty of parking and very easy access off/on interstate 95 & 85. Extra bonus clean bathrooms.
(5)Sammy R.
My favorite place for breakfast and coffee. The staff is so great. The environment in calm and friendly. Eating or having your cappuccino outside on a nice day is a must.
(4)Anna K.
Went here on a Saturday after a visit to the farmers market with my mom, we both got Apple Pie Chai. The tea had absolutely no apple flavoring in it. Which was weird because we paid a lot extra for that syrup. The food was on point except for the pickles that came with the sandwiches were practically non existent. Anyway the service was okay, they all seemed to be dragging. I guess they were tired from the work week. But the owner happened to be there and they gave us a frozen caramel coffee because the chai wasn't to our liking.

This place was out there. We decided to come here for lunch. I love places like this. Small, and a hidden gem. A diamond in the rough. You wouldn't think this would be a great place but it is. The establishment is very clean, very friendly. I had the Bud in the Club, very good. I cant help but come back to this place.

This place is why I love Yelp. We were driving from Norfolk to Lynchburg on that lonely stretch of road called 460 and in need of coffee. Do we want Starbucks? No. Panera? No. We wanted a local establishment with some character. That is exactly what Demolition Coffee has. Sadly, the developers are neglecting the great buildings of Petersburg for their cookie-cutter strip malls on the northeast side. Demolition Coffee has done an outstanding job of refreshing its block of Bank St. and maintaining relevancy to today's market. There is an outstanding breakfast menu with unique fare. I highly recommend the Full Monty Bagel (cream cheese, tomato, cilantro, red onions, sea salt, bagel)! The wife had an Americano, and I had the standard latte - both excellent. Daughter opted for the fru-fru caramel latte and loved it. The atmosphere keeps in theme of the area and the interior is well-designed with plenty of room. The bathrooms are clean and even keep in line with the decor of the place. We tried to go back the next day on our return trip, but it was closed by 4 pm on Saturday. Their FB page mentions they close at 3 PM everyday, so I'll update the Yelp site with those times...

I stopped in here for lunch today, I had a sandwich which had caramelized onion, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a croissant. It was yummy! The croissant was so fresh and flaky, I really enjoyed it. The customer service was lacking as we didn't get a hello or a thank you or even a smile. The atmosphere is nice, and the building is beautiful. My husband didn't much care for his chicken sandwich. Maybe if we were less hungry it would have been better since sandwiches seemed quite small. Pasta salad was also not my taste. I probably would not go back here for lunch but I may try their breakfast!

Adore this place. The atmosphere is fantastic for a town where there aren't many other attractions--not to mention the food & coffee are great!!
(5)Steve B.
Excellent lunch spot. The coffee is from an excellent source (will not mention) and now I don't have to go to Richmond for a coffee!
(4)Emily C.
Super-cute coffee shop. The drinks are awesome- lattes not too sweet/coffee not too acidic. Their baked goods and food are excellent!
(4)Valentina V.
This place is a hip little gem in what might some see as the sleepy little town of Petersburg. Their food is good, their coffee has an excellent taste and the music selection is somehow always perfect, no matter if it's Bob Marley or Patsy Cline. I'm visiting in town and will be frequenting here quite a bit to do work with their free wi-fi and enjoy my coffee and sandwiches.

I moved to Petersburg about 5 months ago and I was very excited to hear about a local coffee shop in my neighborhood. My first experience was very frustrating, I ordered a simple breakfast sandwich with a dirty chai and it cost me over $13. I was given a grilled panini croissant sandwich made with a sausage patty cut in half so they didnt have to give me two patties, a slice of cheese and that was it. No potatoes, no nothing and if I am paying $7 for a breakfast sandwich it should fill me up. The coffee tasted burned. I went only a handful of times but only because Starbucks is in the opposite direction, also for my military folks this place offered discount when I arrived. Supposedly they did away with our discount because they couldn't afford giving us 10% off the bill. How splendid of them for supporting the troops. My advice take your $13 to Waffle House where you get far more bang for your buck, if you are starving and in need of subsistence then go here.

I ventured in since my friend had recommended it to me. I was really impressed with the decor and the swig of the aromatic air was heightening my senses! I ordered a cappuccino and an apple turnover. Definitely will come back again!

Good spacious place for affordable coffee and sandwiches at Petersburg. My husband loves their sandwich selections, so much to try and all very good. Check it out now!
