I give this place 5 stars because it is my favorite place to eat in Galax and my favorite place to eat subs period. I love the salads, garlic bread, and the stromboli. I am not a huge pizza fan so I have never ordered their pizza. The ranch dressing here is the best I have ever consumed. I find it to have a clean dining room and clean restrooms. The service is fine. I mostly go on Saturday night when they are quite busy and I have never found the service to be bad. It is the kind of place you can just walk up to the counter if the server is behind and your drink runs out.

This is by far the best restaurant in Galax! And despite what people may say there are many to choose from. I maybe a little bias considering I have seriously been eating here since I was 5 or so...so for 20 years this place has been a favorite for my family...and the biggest reason is consistency! The sub I had today....taste exactly as it did 20 years ago..and so on. Everything on their menu is consistent and delicious. The service is quick and very nice. As a chef myself I really judge restaurants harshly and this place will always be 5 stars for me. Galax would not be the same with out it!

My boyfriend recommended this as a place I had to try in Galax when we visited. I had the Philly steak sub and he had the Philly chicken sub. Both were delicious! I am unfamiliar with adding marinara to a cheesesteak sub, but I went with it and loved it. Plus the prices were great! For $19 we got two drinks and two "whole" subs which was like getting 4 one-foot subs. Would definitely go back next time I am in town.

Overall a so so location. The food is ok, not bad, but not great. The service is the same way - sometimes good and sometimes bad. The prices are not outrageous but slightly higher than what you epics expect.

Their food is pretty good and the prices are low. I've ate there many times and I've realized they aren't consistent with their services. For example the last time I ate there I was with a party of 6 people. It took nearly an hour to get all of our food. Other times I've eaten there I've gotten my food relatively quick.

This is the favorite pizza restaurant in Galax. My wife and I had the deluxe Stromboli with side salads. The deluxe has twice the meats, vegetables and cheese. I love cheese and the Stromboli was cheesy. I've had the subs before and they are also good No problem with the service.

Went there while visiting my folks over in Fries. We went for lunch one afternoon and had a decent experience. We shared a few pizzas and some salads - nothing exceptional, but not bad either. For a small town, local pizza joint I've definitely been to much worse! The pizza was not too greasy (we got a large cheese and a large sausage) and the crust was decently thin (what can I say, I'm much more a fan of the NY style rather than the Chicago style). My biggest beef with the place was that they were blaring Fox News over the TV in there - I'm not taking away any stars for that as I know a lot of people watch it, but maybe a public business should consider not taking radical political stances of either side as they can easily alienate their guests. There are much more innocuous things on television that will still entertain the public.

This is a tough call for me. One one hand the subs are great,especially the hot ceaser sub, but the pizza is only so so. It's not bad but it's not particularly great either. If we are in that area of town and crave pizza we'll stop, but there are comprable pizza places between where we live and RJ's so I wouldn't make a special trip out of it. Also the service is alway really slow. I understand that you can't rush quality, and if the place is really busy I understand, but even when it's slow it takes the staff awhile to get your drinks and take your order. Also the cheese fries are AMAZING!

Not bad. The service was good, but there was nothing outstanding about the food. I like Ciros next to Wal Mart more.
