Mixed experiences, Spring Rolls were about the worst I've ever had at a thai place before, typically I consider them to be the highlight of a meal, but here they were forgettable and not very enjoyable, I ordered the Sauteed pork with Basil, it was spiced perfectly and was quite good. My wife got Panang Curry with chicken which tasted good, but the chicken was very over cooked and dry. The Soups ordered were all fantastic, service was good and the staff was very helpful and honestly I'm sure they would have been happy to bring a new dish if we had complained about the chicken, we just did not have time to do so. I would definitely eat here again.

I lived in the West End of Alexandria for three years and this was my default food spot. The carryout lunch specials have hefty portions and the service is always attentive if you dine in. I usually alternate between the fried rice and pad thai but I have tried a few other items and liked them all. Their sauce tray is the best I've had and they will also spice the food to taste.

I have been here several times for lunch and mostly carryout for dinner. The place is always clean, mostly quiet and normally a little busy. Overall, I really like the place. The food, service and prices are good. My favs are pad thai, soups, spring rolls and the satay. Good neighborhood place.

A great stop to get a very tasty, huge portion of Pad Thai. I can never finish it. Haven't had a chance to sample much else on the menu. Very friendly service whether you're dining in or getting take out. Food comes out fast and hot.

Hit this place up again after climbing. We walked in about a half hour before they closed and the staff really looked like they'd rather go home than serve us. My lemongrass steak was good, but not very lemongrassy. I'm less likely to go back now...

Thai Lemongrass has a casual atmosphere, a friendly staff, and great service. The food is all good -- the soups, appetizers, green and yellow curries are very satisfying -- but the real standout for me is the vegetable pad thai, which is probably the best I've found in the DC metro area; nicely seasoned with plenty of veggies and tofu. This restaurant is also one of the few places I've found locally that seems to understand "thai hot". If you are spice-phobic, be careful ordering! But if you like a decent (and flavorful) spice kick, I definitely recommend Lemongrass. There are other Thai places in the area (like Duangrats or Pasara) which I'd say are more elegant, and the flavors more delicate, but for a relaxed walk-in meal (and some fantastic pad thai), Lemongrass can't be beat -- I've been coming here about once a month for the past few years and have never walked away unsatisfied.

Wednesday night is the time to play badminton. Ususally we would go to a Chinese buffet to get the food. But last night we decided to make a change, so we went to this Thai restaurant. It is not a big place. When we arrived there, it was not very crowded. We were ushed into a table by window. The restaurant is very clean and cosy, and the service is fast. We order three Pad Thai and one Thai Curry. For Pad Thai, if you order extra spciy, it could be really spciy for people unused to spicy foods. Thai curry is really nice, and there is a lot of options. You can ask for bean curd, or vegetables, and there is some other choices. I quite like this place.

The best way to describe Thai Lemon Grass is "OK." The food is pretty typical if not uninspired. Had some bland meals, some overly seasoned meals and a few that were just right. If you need something quick, this place isn't offensive. But, not worth going out of your way for.

Fast, cheap, spicy and ample parking make the perfect carryout. I have driven past here 5 million times but on a reccomendation (multiple times) I finally stopped. You see my heart belongs to T.H.A.I. in Shirlington so I was a little leery to try another place so close by. This spot is definitely less expensive and the when you say spicy they mean it! I ordered Pad Thai with 2 peppers and was nearly in tears. The portion was enormous and was actually enough for two meals. I did carryout and probably wouldn't dine in, just because it seemed a little hectic (think 2 woman running around as servers, bussers and cooks). Either way, I definitely see me returning for carryout.

This is Gina's and my default Thai restaurant. We go a lot, and the servers know us, so that's a bonus. Their Pad Thai is excellent with chicken and vegetables, and they've got Penang w/o peanuts, which can be hard to find. Highly recommended if you're looking for good Thai.

Excellent food, service, and decor. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their rice is inferior to the rice at To Be Thai on Richmond Highway. The staff is very friendly and nice, which makes going back a pleasure. Two tips: 1) For those who like salad --- it's not on the menu but you can order a small garden salad with peanut dressing and it's delicious. 2) If a menu item has a hotness rating of "2 chili peppers" it is VERY hot!!

This place is "homestyle" Thai - I've been to Thailand six times, and they do dishes in a very authentic style... and they have a "Chef's Menu" on request, which actually is a bunch of typical Thai dishes that don't make the average menu in the US, like "crispy pig", or a Thai version of pho soup. The women who work here are friends and family of the owners and chefs, and they are always happy to help you make a choice on the menu. The ingredients are fresh, and the price is very cheap - you can get a hearty bowl of tom ka gai chicken-coconut milk soup with a side of rice - for about $5. Their pad thai is done properly - which means it comes out hot, ugly, and brown... which is so all the flavors blend properly. If you go to a Thai restaurant that sends out pad thai with each ingredient in little piles, you're eating American-style Thai, not authentic! They will be honest if the mango is really good, or just ok. They will accommodate any type of special request, and if you really want a home-style Thai experience, just tell them the ingredients you like, and ask them for a suggestion. The decor won't win any awards, but I feel like I'm going to a neighborhood cafe in Bankok when I go here, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Sawadee!

without a doubt the most boring food i have eaten in a year. mus-sa-mun chicken, take-out. admittedly i probably should have requested spicy but ordered without any specification and was not asked how i would like. plenty of meat, carrots good consistancy, potato hard but ok since only a couple pieces but zero flavor. i've made better myself winging it. will i give another chance? not bloody likely. 3 stars cause was decent portion, edible and since only tried this one dish dont feel like i should trash thier overall rating.

I love Thai food and my tongue can take it.....I have been very loyal to Sakulthai for a couple of years now..but my eyes wondered away and I walked into Lemon Grass (Sakul, would you forgive me??)...To compare my disappointment here is a visual so you can understand how I felt! jbscootergirl.blogspot.c… See what I mean?.... refund!!!!!...yes, exactly ..oooh stop it! don't start getting all prude now. Back to Lemon Grass...My order was seafood drunken noodle and seafood galanga soup (the large container) It seemed like the cook took some vengeance on me...was it his off day? passing a stone, what?, the food was sooooo spicy my mouth hurt. The soup was also very, but very spicy...I could feel a layer of my stomach peeling, my eyes watered and it was just too much torture and I had to stop. Nowadays when we are looking for carry out my bf points at Lemon Grass and says...do u want some Thai?...and I have to say NOOOO WAYYY!!!

This is my favorite Thai place. Their tofu or beef ka prao (I think it is called beef or tofu with chili and basil, not sure) is delicious and my favorite. And theTom Kha Kai (coconut-lime soup) is my weakness! Love the sticky rice when mango is in season.

Was my goto place near home for a while. Pad Thai is consistent and good(not great, try Sakul Thai, at least my taste buds recommend). Staff is prompt and courteous, though I wouldn't say friendly. Decor is nice, though more 70s or 80s, I think... I think the best part about it is the location, lots of choices for those in your group that do not want Thai, pick a nationality, it's here in this plaza, Japanese, Italian, Vietnamese, El Salvadorian, Middle Eastern Kabobs, Indonesian Satay, and Giant to round it out. I think a subway/Quiznos as well. Consistent, yes, great. I wouldn't go so far. Right off the beltway Van Dorn exit for those heading elsewhere...

I am not a big Thai fan. I don't like curry, whether it's Thai or Indian, so I try not to go to those types of places too often. Unfortunately, the boyfriend loves them, and this is very close to my apartment, so to keep him happy, we go once in awhile. My go to dish for Thai is the pad see ew and this place does it really well. You get a huge portion and I always have dinner for another night or two. The dish is great. He has gotten several dishes there and says they are very good, but I can't speak to them since he also gets them spicy, which I'm not a fan of. The prices seem to be on par with other places we've been so if you're in the area and want decent Thai food for a decent price, try this place.

This place used to be a reliable spot for cheap and tasty Thai but no more! We've been going there on and off for 7-8 years and it's always been decent but this last visit was downright horrible. Spring rolls were sopping with grease and contained nothing but cabbage. My red curry was missing all the spices and had a weirdness that is hard to describe and made it even harder to actually eat. The chicken with spring onions and basil was edible but nothing to write home about or return for. Go somewhere else.

I'm a regular here. I'll bet I've eaten here twenty times and I've never not enjoyed it. My gf usually gets the same thing: shrimp in blankets and larb gai. They do a great larb gai. Also, her house red wine is always good, for cheap. I love Singha, although I liked it better when it was labeled malt liquor and was 6%. They changed the formula at least for the American market a few years ago. Anyway, Singha is one of those beers that is just perfect with its food, like Dos Equis with Mexican, Sapporo with Japanese, Kingfisher with Indian, etc. At Lemongrass they come running with a cold one when they see me walking in! They are so friendly, always the same three ladies. I love their steak, the beef in ginger and scallions, their pad thai...it is always tasty, generous, and a good value. I also like it HOT, and they will comply with that request, believe me! They have a funny cartoon over the bar, a face eating food with four levels of Thai heat. Wonder if there's a pic of it on here...if not I'll take one and post it next time I go. This is a staple, a go-to, an old reliable, in the rotation, part of the repertoire.

One of my favorites - we eat here on a regular basis. Have gotten to know the people who work at the restaurant. Often we just ask for something with seafood, or something with vegetables, and let them suggest a few dishes. When we go and it's not too busy, they'll make us dishes that aren't on the regular menu. I've never had a bad meal here. Everything I've tried is good. I'm especially fond of the Pad Thai Jay. The curries are also very nice. Service is prompt. Bottom line - it's good Thai food, reasonably priced. I will absolutely be going back again.

I've gone for lunch twice, once to check it out, and once to make sure that my 1st experience wasn't a fluke. I ordered drunken noodles the 1st time and they arrived with tomatoes/sugar snaps/canned mushrooms and no basil. I was floored. I am fairly positive it's a main ingredient. On my second visit I was put off by the presence of crushed pepper flakes and not a single fresh hot chili in my dish. It just looked like someone had spiced my food with one of those pizza parlor shakers where they keep the crushed pepper. The portion was big, but the food is only okey for my taste. A side warning about the parking lot. That place gets crammed on weekends and just to get in and out (during lunch) is a royal mess.

I was desperate to get some hot piping food. It was closing time when I walked in to order some take out. However they still took my order. So I took the food home and it smelt WAY too good. But when I took a bite of chicken green curry.....I have to say it was VERY VERY disappointing. This comes from an AVID Thai food fan. Green curry is a very essential component in any Thai restaurant menu and should be at least half decent. Upon opening the take-out box, this curry was a milky white with a tinge green and tasted bland. The chicken was a little over cooked and dry if it wasn't for the curry. This is my first time and I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt but I can't after reading some of the other reviews of this restaurant. Seems like their food quality is inconsistent. I don't know if I'd ever go back unless I was extremely desperate for Thai and didn't have any other place to go.

Thai Lemon Grass pad thai is my favorite in the D.C. area (and only $8.95!) I love getting it with shrimp and medium spiciness. The noodles are a perfect consistency and flavored well--not too sweet like some places. They also give you a set of three condiments (jalapenos, red pepper flakes, and a green sauce with onions and other spices).

Nothing spectacular, but always a sure bet. 3 1/2 stars This is one of those very dependable and good Thai places near me. It won't wow you. And you certainly wouldn't host any head of state here, but the food is always very good and the portions more than generous. My three Thai staples (pad Thai, drunken noodle, pad see ew) are all really good here. On the several occasions where I've tried their curry dishes I was always very pleased with what I got. And I've never had any of my dinner companions complain about the food here. BTW: If Thai's not your thing, there are about 8 other restaurants in that strip that range from pizza to El Salvadorian. Have had a lot of Thai food from a lot of different places. This place gets 3 stars for flavor, have had consistent food each and every time and when they ask for how hot you'd like it they hit that as well without overpowering the other flavors. Pitfalls...Their menu they need to scale some as almost too many options. Interior leads a lot to be desired, its worn faded and does not give a good impression for a food place.

Great for take out! The only downside is you need to pick up, so call ahead before leaving work. Located next to the Dunkin Donuts; it can be missed in the strip mall. I have dined once; not worth it. Better enjoyed on the couch, or over drinks with company at home (tip... Sushi place across the street for pick-up as well).

Best Chicken Pad Thai in Alexandria. I know an argument has been made for Sugar Palm Thai further up Edsall but Thai Lemon Grass wins the title hands down. I'm also a big fan of their drunken noodles. I typically order these dishes medium as I'm not built for Thai spicy. I've carried out orders far more often than I've dined in, but I haven't had any negative experiences eating at the restaurant. The staff is really polite and attentive. The food is prepared quickly but not so quickly that you feel like it's been sitting on a hot plate for 3 hours. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza so it's not fancy by any means. The décor isn't modern at all, but it fits. This place is bordering on hole in the wall which suits me just fine. It's been a favorite of mine since moving to the Van Dorn area July of last year.

Out of the way, quiet atmosphere, good food. It's kind of located in a out of the way place on the back side of the Giant market mall. It's quiet and staffed with nice people. Good place for conversations and pleasantries. It's not a fancy, impress your supermodel girlfriend place. That said, prices are reasonable and service is quick. Family friendly and low stress. The staff is very accommodating. Food is good but not as spicy as other Thai places I've been to, but you can ask for spicy if you want. I enjoyed my experience here.

This is becoming our go-to place for Thai food in the area these days. My Chinese wife loves the word spicy, and she loves her food spicy even more; and so do I. By that, I mean have sweat runny off your forehead spicy, the way she's used to having her food back in the mother country. And this place will actually give that to you, unlike many other Thai restaurants we've been to, where when we uttered the words "I want that very hot" and instead received the usual "he looks white bread American, better give him something bland or he'll say he doesn't want to pay." Now I know that last sentence may leave a bad taste in some mouths, but believe me, it's not as bad as some of the heat levels, or I should say, cold levels, of food I've gotten elsewhere under the label of "Thai" food. At last -- Thai Lemongrass, a place that doesn't live up those other standards. Praise praise praise. I love the pad thai here (yeah, I can hear it already, "another pad thai review"). And I'll get it again and again when I come. The wifey loves the salads, and when she points to that little icon of the red guy with a blown up red face and says "that spicy," they give it to her that way. And when I see her putting down her utensils and saying, "oh, that is spicy...." I'm happy; because I'm doing the same thing. It may seem like a small thing, but a place should listen to the customer when they give them the option. And we always get listened to here. We love the flavors overall as well. The sweet & sour here is like nothing I've had elsewhere, and nothing like the usual sweet & sour you get with typical American "Asian" food, the kind of Asian food my wife laughs at out loud and denegrates on the drive back home. No. It's all love love love from us. We tend to come here late in the evening, when things are quiet. We love that too. I guess that's not good for the house; but we're happy to be here at such times, and we'll back for more. Back for more of everything. We're working on covering the entire menu, and looking forward to it. One week at a happy one week at a time.

I've been coming here for the past 4 yrs and the great quality of food hasn't changed. I always get they're pad see ew. The noodles just have an amazing taste that becomes addicting. it's also a great size for sharing for 2. They also have good service and a good environment .

I stopped by here in search of soup since the Pho place across the way was already closed. I ordered the Lemon Grass Soup with chicken and ate it at my friend's house soon after. Not only was the chicken VERY dry and over cooked, but while eating the soup, I quickly began to feel some rumbles in my stomach. Over the next 72 hours I experienced the worst food poisoning of my life and since this was the only thing I ate that weekend that my boyfriend did not, I have to assume it came from Thai Lemon Grass. My stomach was so sick I had to take two days off work and nearly went to the hospital for dehydration. DO NOT EAT HERE - not only was the food not very good, but it made me sick!

Found out about this place about half a year ago. Every time I come here, it always seems to be a new experience. There is a lot of choices to get. Also a great menu for vegetarians. The prices for the food are fairly good, also you get a lot (more than other places) As long as the food is good, I dont really care about the interior of the restaurant like other places. Yeah, the carpet is a little dull but as long as its cleaned up, its fine with me. I always order anything chicken here. from noodles, curry, rice chicken dishes, they were all good! There was the time when I did order chicken fried rice, it was a bit dry and tasteless? but it didnt bother me much cause they have side seasonings. I absolutely love tod mun! its fresh! better than other places that I've tried at. Always a good place to go to whenever I'm craving Thai food!

I came to Thai Lemon Grass a few times to pick up some Thai food to go. I've had their Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Panang, as well as their Beef Larb. The pad thai can be a hit or miss, as sometimes it can be more saucy, but other times, it can be extremely dried out and the noodles being way overcooked. The Panang curry is okay, but not as thick as I usually prefer it to be. Their ground beef Larb was okay - it was very heavily basil-based, but the ground meet also seemed very dry and very spiced up with herbs and such. The food here is actually quite good. Prices are good for the quantity of food served. I've ate-in at this restaurant twice and the biggest eye sore for me is the carpet. Two and a half stars. Does the minimum for a neighborhood Thai restaurant. My pint of thai iced tea wasn't too sweet. Sauteed pork had okay flavors, though the cuts were a little overcooked. Chicken drunken noodle was fine, with the meat still tender and the broad rice noodles evenly sauced. Relatively fresh basil garnish, healthy portioning of protein ratios. No problems with service, though we did have to ask for a spice rack to be brought out. Next time I'd drive to Old Town for better.

So I live less than a mile from this place and I've been meaning to try it. I was craving Thai food earlier so I decided to try their drunken noodles and I ordered it to go. When I called in the lady was quick to take my order and after she repeated my order to me I thought she would tell me the price but she just told me how long it would take and hung up, so I went in not knowing how much my food cost. I felt that the price was a little high but it wasn't outrageous so I just paid and left. When I got home to try it, I was disappointed because the noodles tasted bland. My chicken wasn't flavored to the sauce and it was just a very mediocre dish. Also when she asked how spicy I wanted the dish, I was relieved that I said medium because it is pretty spicy. I usually have a decent tolerance but this goes beyond what I consider medium spicy. All in all this place is alright and I want to go back a couple of more times to try different items, but as of now, it won't be a place that I would frequent.

I came here for lunch about two weeks ago. It was hot outside and in here. I had the curry coconut chicken lunch special. It was good but definitely nothing to call home about. It did its main job of satiating me. I doubt I will go back. For me, to patronize a place the food must be AMAZING and in 100 degree weather I need an indoor establishment to be cooler.

The tofu and bean sprout dish is my favorite here. Very light - very flavorful - nothing too overcooked and the tofu isn't too fried. Great for light food. The pad see ew was okay -- had better. Thought some of the dishes here were too greasy. Everyone is very nice here. Probably busy during lunch time but dinner time is completely empty the times I've been. Go for the tofu with bean sprouts if you're in the mood for a light thai meal.

I've had take out from here a couple of times and thought it's time for a review. So far I've had their papaya salad, different types of curry, pad see ew, and pad thai. The curry and pad thai is flavorless. I've been to many Thai places and their curry and pad thai is the second worst I've ever tried (tara thai is the worst thai place ever). The papaya salad taste spicy with no other flavor. 2 stars because their pad see ew is one of the best I've had! I would come here just for the pad see ew.

I really enjoyed coming here. Service was ok, but what do you expect when you come to these places? I ordered the beef thai curry, which was so good with steamed rice. We also had pad thai, which was my ultimate favorite. It was extremely flavorful and just plain yummy! My dad had the basil beef, which was also really good. BTW- "mild" definitely has a kick so it. some of the best Thai food I have had in the Alexandria area. Love their Lemongrass soup and for the first time ever, my son tried Lo Mein noodles and liked them. Now at least once a week he wants to go to the "noodle place!" Service is great and price is reasonable.

Okay. So. I may have ordered vegetable pad thai and chicken satay here every week for a straight month... Does that tell you anything (other than that I have weird food cravings)? I love this place. I only wish it was closer to me. Sadly I can't tell you about anything except pad thai and chicken satay. Both are the best versions I have ever had. The portions are enormous, and, especially for lunch, the prices are a bargain. There is a huge difference between the mild and medium, even if you like spicy (which I do)--medium was not something I could handle in such a large dose. 1 order is easily 2-3 meals worth of food. If they ever go out of business, I'll need to bribe someone for the recipe...or hire the chef.

Stumbled upon this place and decided to try it. Great lunch specials. I got chicken pad thai and a spring roll for under $8. Very large portion too... I got two large meals out of it. I really enjoyed my pad thai and LOVED the thai tea. I definitely recommend Thai Lemongrass!

their pad thai is tasty.pad thai here is not premade.it was freshly cooked and served.its served with vegetables n crushed peanut for you to mix unlike other places where everything was already mixed. reasonable price and good service. overall ok place to eat pad thai. but i have to give 2stars due to what it appears to be cheap quality meat. if not,i would give 3stars

It is slim pickins In terms of restaurants near our home. My husband likes this place. I say "Meh". The numerous times that we have been here, the dishes are not consistent. Some are delicious such as the Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai but I would avoid the Drunken Noodle and the Thai Basil with tofu, The last two dishes were just lackluster in appearance and taste. Plus they seem to over salt their food. I am sure we'll probably be back here again but will stick to the soup and pad Thai.

I've only been once, but I could tell this place was an above average Thai restaurant. The tod mun was freshly pressed, the right texture and coupled with the dipping sauce, had really nice flavor. The pad kao mao had that smokey flavor that I really enjoy, but some restaurants just can't get it. The soups here are also very good and highly recommended. Cilantro! Po Siam Thai restaurant is not far away, but I think I'll start going here and see what else is good. Highly recommended. Wait staff is extremely friendly.

This place is some serious no-frills Thai. I've been at least five times in the past few years when I lived closer to this area. What keeps me coming back to this place (beyond the other 8127271 Thai restaurants in NOVA) is that the prices are really affordable at dinner and the service is always fast. I've never waited more than 10 minutes for a meal and the waitresses are really nice. The food is always flavorful. My one issue is the oily after-taste I've encountered more recently. I think it is a reflection of my personal taste, as I do not cook with oil often anymore, but I found my Drunken Noodles with Tofu and Vegetables to be extremely oily. I also thought the spring rolls were very crispy yet too oily to keep eating. I plan on trying a curry dish next time to see how that goes.

The drunken noodle is better than some fancier restaurants I've visited recently. I really didn't like the soup though. The soup was like they use a common soup stock and put the main ingredient just before bringing it out to the table. Don't waste your time with the soup.

Smell=amazing. Prices=good. Food=OK. The lunch special comes with a flavorless spring roll and more flavorless food. The spring roll was awful - I usually don't need sauce for them; I had to drench this one in sauce. The chicken basil with bamboo shoots was not inedible, but was missing an added oomph. The chicken fried rice was boring. Service was friendly and fast, and I must admit that I liked the pillow mints at the end of the meal. The decor is nothing special; music is soft rock; and the place could use renovating. There is no reason for me to go back.

My favorite dish of all time is Pad Thai. I've had it everywhere, I've tried every Thai restaurant in the DMV, not to mention every city I visit. Hands down Thai Lemongrass has the best Pad Thai around. The small little joint does a great job, the service is always friendly, polite, and timely, and the pad Thai is out of this world good. My wife personally loves the pan fried pork, and we love their Soups. We go there at least every other week and highly recommend it to anyone who loves amazing Thai Food.

I had a craving for Thai and decided to check this place out. I ordered pad see ewe and it quickly arrived. The nice waitress and quick food are the only good things about this place. I ordered my dish very very very spicy. Now with that many very I would expect to burn my face off. Not only was the food devoid of spiciness, it lacked any favor what so ever. The waitress asked if I wanted a box. I said I didn't like it and it was very bland. She said she would bring pad Thai. The pad Thai was better but things can only be better when you set the bar so low. Yes the pad Thai is edible but will I come back here? No. If my friends say I have to go with them, they better duct tape me and throw me in the trunk.

Ordered take-out drunken noodles. It was really bad. Noodles were over-cooked and no seasoning. I had to had ton of fish sauce and soy sauce to it to make it edible. Really disappointing.

This is my go-to place when family/friends visit. I usually pick up a few menu items for takeout when I don't have time to took, or when I just want great thai food. It's inexpensive, but the quality is outstanding. This is definitely one of those places that only locals know. I give it 5-stars for the quality, the service, and the price (you can't beat the combination). Thai Lemongrass is definitely high on my list.

I stopped in at lunch time the other day with a friend to try their lunch specials. I ended up ordering off of their dinner menu because I wanted some bean thread noodles. I thought the prices were decent and the food was pretty tasty. The portions were also very large. My friend ordered some type of beef dish that tasted like something from a Latin restaurant, but it was still good. I would stop in again in the future and maybe try a curry dish.

We wanted to go to the indonesian place in the same plaza but it happened to be closed at 4pm on a Saturday so we tried this place. The pad thai was spicy and AMAZING. We also enjoyed the basil tofu. We will definitely return for good food and decent prices.

I go here sometimes because it is close to my job, but as far as Thai goes- this could be better. I love their lunch menu and their food is always spicy-- to my liking. If you don't like spicy food- don't come here! My complaint is that sometimes their seafood isn't so fresh, which is unappetizing. I love that they still give out mints at the end of the meal (which I know should be avoided but I love those mints!) Service is good. Never gotten sick or anything here, but because I love Thai I wish this was better.

I have eaten here a few times and the food is just "ok". There are much better Thai restaurants in the area with much better food and friendlier service. The older server that works there is kind, but the younger one has a serious attitude. After my friend and I finished our meal, drinks and dessert she wanted us out of there and the restaurant only had a few occupied tables (which says a lot). I will no longer eat here and will patronize other restaurants such as Sugar Palm Thai which is nearby.

This is my go-to carry out joint. I crave their food on a weekly basis. For the price, you really can't beat their Thai food and the portions for carry-out are more than generous, especially when you order the Pad Thai (which is fantastic). When I do dine in, service is wonderful; the staff is kind and orders come out promptly. I've never had a bad experience here.

In a metro area with tons of Thai restaurant options, this is a standout. It's flavorful and not a "dumbed-down" Thai restaurant with oodles of "Americanized" (read: weak, flavorless, and lacking spice) menu items. It has the usuals: pad thai, kee mao goong gao, tom kha, panang, etc. And it has some "off-the-beaten path" items that are worth checking out. The price is right, and the food is fresh and tasty. The servers are polite and speedy, too. Our business is located nearby; this a reliable go-to when my wife and I don't feel like taking a risk. As a bonus, they're open when we're closing up shop ourselves. Sometimes they're the last option...but that's not a bad thing. Confession: I'm writing this because I just ate leftovers from Thai Lemon Grass. It was as good today as it was last night :-D

This Thai place rocks! I have Asian friends who's parents owned a Thai Restaurant who ate here and raved! They said the drunken noodles and green curry are authentically wonderful! The chicken is white breast meat carefully trimmed. The proprietor are very nice Thai folks. I strongly recommend this establishment for lunch or dinner. They do a brisk takeout business. The atmosphere is unpretentious, clean, and have lots of natural light. The noise levels are pleasant. No need to raise to your voice when conversing with your table mates.

Lemon Grass is a good option when it comes to quick food served in a restaurant setting. Every time I've come here I get my food served right away so I'm usually in and out in a hurry. The food is great, although my one complaint is that they don't have any salads on the menu. They do, however, have a good amount of vegetarian options ranging from curry to fried tofu dishes. My personal favorite is the plate of green curry. Also, be sure to keep in mind that even the "mild" dishes are quite spicy so be aware of this when customizing your dish. All in all, a very ok restaurant. Nothing overly fancy or elaborate, just good, affordable Thai food.

I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could. I've been here three times now -- two times dining in, and one time for takeout. They do a more-than-competent job, and offer a pleasant, low-key dining experience. On the other hand, they're not SO great that I think they should be winning awards. As other reviewers have said - stick with the curries. The curries are rich and flavorful. It's not often that the curry is not overwhelmed by, well, the curry taste, and that you can actually taste the coconut too. So good job balancing there. If you're not into very spicy foods (like me), go with the mild / regular level. Even "mild" has a good kick to it. If you're the type that's always reaching for the tabasco, then I'm sure they can satisfy you too. Their soups are also quite good. My significant other (who likes things a LOT spicier than I do, and who is also much pickier about Asian food) liked the place, especially since they can do white-meat chicken for the chicken entrees. On another occasion I had the pork fried rice and that was a disappointment. Just very ordinary, and the rice was definitely not fried. It was too moist to be called fried rice for sure. The spring rolls, while crispy, do not come with a Thai twist. They are the same rolls you would get with Chinese takeout. Prices are very reasonable, and service is good also. You can also do takeout. All in all, this is a good standby if you're in the area. People who have been here will know that it's in the middle of a neighborhood strip mall, anchored by a Giants supermarket. They have Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Afghan / Mediterranean, Mexican, Chinese, and Indonesian food all in the same complex. I've tried the first four, and Thai Lemon Grass is the winner so far. And Thai Lemon Grass is usually the busiest restaurant among the whole bunch.

Decent. Consistent. Affordable. But oily. Thai Lemon Grass is on my way home from work, so sometimes I swing by if I'm suddenly in the mood for Thai and need to scratch that itch stat. If you walk in and place an order to-go, it's ready within 10 minutes. Nice. It's also $8 for a huge, dinner-size portion (in my opinion) plus a spring roll. Spring roll, by the by, is one of the greasiest I've encountered, and representative of average, rather uninspired Thai. Even if you're not interested you'll need it to get the lunch special price. Dinner prices are right on, too. Food is decent, like I mentioned, but not even close to the best Thai I've had. The veggie Pad Thai (my go-to) is a little too sweet, doesn't have enough tofu (four cubes isn't even a full serving!), although it is nicely fried and then sauteed to a caramelized goodness; also aren't enough interesting veggies, mostly just cabbage, onion, and carrot. But, again, it satisfies my sudden-itch-for-Thai. [When I have a well-planned-itch I go to T.H.A.I. Shirlington, which is probably the best Thai that's graced my lips.] Service is quite friendly, tho, which is always appreciated. The ladies who run the front-of-house are attentive, efficient, and always smiling. Cheesy, typical decor's been the same for, oh, ten years or more?, but it's clean and fine. Thai Lemon Grass is a good bet if you live nearby or work in the area and are looking for decent food at good prices. Especially at lunch.

This place is OK OK. i had the fried rice and the chicken sauteed with basil. they were below average. the Chicken was dry and sinewy and did not mix well with the sauce and the sauce was too watery. i have had Thai at many places in Alexandria and NOVA and Pasara is by far the best. Been coming here for 10 years. I usually get the same things over and over, and haven't sampled everything on the menu because I am boring like that. My baby loves the mild pad thai so I always get that for him once every 2 weeks. We go here 2-3 times a month since it's 5 minutes from home. I don't like pad thai because it is too sweet. But I love the spicy beef salad lunch special, and for dinner I order the spicy beef salad appetizer and larb. Heavenly. They do give huge portions so that is why I give it 4 stars. We have tried the Sakul Thai place down the road, but their portions are measly so we've only been there twice in 10 years, last time being maybe 5 years ago. Can't beat Lemon Grass' fast service and big portions. The restaurant itself is not great and tiny so we always do carry out. B/c of our rowdy toddler, we can't even do McDonald's sit in! Anyway, Lemon Grass ain't no Duangrat's, which is top of the line, but it'll do for my stay at home, carry out ass.

Best Thai Food in the Area. Trust me I have tried over 15 different Thai places in the area and nothing comes close. And the price is very fair and the quantity is a lot too! The waiters are very nice and they make sure your glass is never empty! I love this place!

The food is quite authentic and I enjoy eating here more than the other Thai restaurant in the area (Saulthai). Not the friendliest staff, but as others have said, efficient. For a little hole in the wall restaurant you can't beat Thai Lemon Grass. The portions are good, the food is good and spicy. I always order the Drunken Noodles. They're especially good with half beef, half tofu. The beef gives a great flavor and the tofu offers a different texture. I've had them with chicken before and they're ok. I did get an order one time that didn't see quite right - the noodles were a little dry, but every other time it's been spot on. Be aware that when you order "hot" it is definitely spicy! I love it spicy food but even I never order the "extra hot". The restaurant is pretty small - we always get take out. I'm not sure I would enjoy eating in, but it's a great lazy Friday night take out option.

I go to Lemon Grass a lot after climbing. There is always the same 2 ladies serving food, the short one being very friendly, while the tall, thinner one is pretty quiet. Although a few times she has seemed to be down right pissed off about something. Anyway, back to Lemon Grass. Their food is a bit on the spicy side, even if you order the "mild" version. Service is very quick and the servings are quite large. I take home 3 extra meals worth of food every time I go. The staff is always coming by to fill up your water and make sure that everything is OK. I find it to be a very pleasant place to eat. I love Thai cuisine and I enjoy what Lemon Grass has to offer

Let me tell you how excited I am that this place is within walking distance of our new place. I am so excited that if I were a small dog you'd be cleaning up my widdle spots on the floor. Boyfriend and I went here last night to have dinner in between bouts of moving. He'd been to this place a time or two but it was my first time. I was so pleased with how attentive and quick the service was. The dining room was nearly empty but there was a constant take-out crowd coming in and out. From the moment we walked in there was a server there to greet us. When I started to explain my shellfish allergy she knew right away that there was no shellfish or shellfish-sauces in my dish and then, she said something that was music to my ears: they clean their wok after every order. That's the best thing that someone with food allergies could hear. I got the tofu and basil which was really spicy but good. Boyfriend ordered the Pad Ki Mao and good GOD that was delicious. All I wanted to do was lick his plate. We saved room for mango sticky rice but they told us their mangoes weren't ripe. Honestly, I was happy that they decided to take the item off the menu rather than serve something subpar. All in all, we were super happy with the food, the service, and the bill (which came out to all of $20 and we both had left overs). We will be back. Oh yes. We will be back.

This is a great neighborhood Thai restaurant that I'm glad I found! Like almost everyone else has already noted, their pad thai is a standout but I've enjoyed everything I've tried thus far. Also, don't pass up the tom yum soup, it's nothing less than a big bowl of deliciousness. For all you gluttons, the portions are pretty big and I've always had leftovers for the next day's dinner.
