I just glanced at a few other reviews and am not surprised to see the same as what we experienced today. My kids and I went here for a special lunch....it wasn't special in the least. It was a first visit for us....and a last. The hostess was uninterested, but took us to a booth anyway. The staff, with the exception of our waiter (who did make an effort...when he remembered) were also less interested in simple courtesy. With uninspired staff aside, it was the food we came to enjoy. We left still hoping to find food to enjoy. lol As my daughter put it..."At least we're not hungry anymore." My kids each ordered the mini-feast...soup, a mini-pizza, and garlic bread. I had the soup, salad, and bread buffet. they don't tell you that it's garlic bread. That's okay...I love garlic bread. That was the WORST garlic bread I've ever had. Basically...the food all lacked flavor. The clam chowder I had wasn't bad...but my son, who also had it kept asking where the clams were. yeah.....more potato than clam. The chicken soup my daughter had was very heavy on the thickener....you almost need a fork instead. lol When I could get my waiter's attention...it was to flag him down for water or soup. A soup buffet with three kinds of soup...and none of it at the buffet! You have to ask for it. The buffet is there for it, so if it's broken, it would be nice for the waiter to tell us. Not a clue. The salad plates are mini-plates....as in saucer size. Seriously? The salad bar was okay...not wonderful, but not bad. It would have been nice had the mixed berries in the bar not been FROZEN SOLID. Good grief. Why is it so hard to find decent food in southern Utah? There are three great places to eat in St. George. This is NOT one of them! Don't waste your money on mediocre food with mediocre staff at not great prices.

The food is just meh. One of the better pizza joints in st George but that is not saying much lol. The leaning tower is the only pizza worth ordering. It's real good. The homemade root beer is also tasty, albeit a tad sweet.

This pizza joint is just like every pizza joint out of the 90's, Salad bar and all. Pizza and service were good, for utah standard, but not great. Lots of families and small kids. Probably won't go there again, only because it's just not my kind of place.

  • Moroni V.

Pretty good, quick bite and good salad bar.

  • Anna J.

First time visit. Pizza was pretty doughy. Salad was filled with rotten lettuce. Garlic bread was pretty good and the service was just "okay". I would recommend finding somewhere else to eat.

  • Jonna P.

It's an underwhelming Olive Garden or overpriced pizza joint. Salad bar is okay but nothing special. Our service was really slow, however I've only gone this once so I can't say that it's a standard. This just wasn't my gig, if I had to choose between Brick Oven Pizza, Pizza/Pasta Factory or Olive Garden, Brick Oven Pizza would be last on the list.

If I could type a fart sound that's what I would put here. Been here many times, never left happy.

*vegetarian review* The pizza is really awful. The cheese is some manufactured sludge. I couldn't even eat it. That said, the salad bar is decent and better value. The mushrooms looked dead, but aside from that, pretty good selection. I loaded my plate with broccoli, tomatoes, chickpeas, kidney beans, eggs, green peas, sunflower seeds, and maybe a few more other items. I also added a few pieces of cookie.

Place needs a grown-up Manager College Kids were running the restaurant. Wait staff and kitchen were extremely slow. Pizzas were okay but nothing to shout about. This restaurant only carries beer of low alcohol (3.2%)- Utah State Law in some counties. I never had a Blue Moon at this strength .... it ruined the beer. Also, forget about ordering wine at this restaurant. They had "White Wine" , "Rose Wine" and "Red Wine".... PATHETIC!

  • Shauna S.

Chance was a great server. He got all seven of our food and drink orders correct. He was funny and fast. The pizza, salads, garlic bread and pasta were delicious. Two of my sisters had birthdays. The servers gave them free chocolate mousse pie and sang to them. Fun lunch!

  • Kyle J.

Terrible service. My wife and I had our wedding dinner at brick oven and they let us down big time... They only made half the food we ordered so there wasn't enough food for our friends and family, the servers were no where to be found, and we had a whole room booked for 2 hours but within an hour they were allowing their guest into our party room to serve them. We love the brick oven in Provo but I will never go back to this one and highly recommend to all my friends and family the same thing. Very disappointing.

While on the road trip to Zion Park, my buddy saw this restaurant while stopping at Starbucks getting a coffee.we decided to try for dinner , we had pasta , pizza , salad and soup, the free garlic bread was the best of all , everything else just taste a blah. The waiter who help us is young and friendly. Inside of this restaurant is kind of big, has a all you can eat salad bar.

    (2)
  • Christina D.

OMG, they have the BEST root beer! The fresh made pasta is really good. Salad bar is small... But let's face it, who wants salad when you are going for the pizza and pasta! Lol Servers are friendly and keep the drinks full and plates cleared. I would have done 5 stars... But the bathrooms were a mess and smelled like someone spilled a gallon of bleach in there.

We've eaten there a number of times and have always been very pleased with the food, value and the service. Give them a try !!!

I don't know why this places is so picked on. I remember going to the one in Provo and loving it so when my little brother wanted to go eat here I was excited. It was just how I remembered. I got great salad and plenty of it, as well as really yummy pasta and sausage and meatball that were good. I liked the roasted red pepper sauce. My brothers pizza was really good and so was my dad's pasta. The sweet waitress was really nice and played with my toddler for a minute when she would come by. I also got a root beer which was so good. They make it there. I like this place and I hope you'll try it out too. It was a tiny bit loud because of some softball groups there but they were so nice and the food was really really good

Wish I could leave it a good review. From the name your think real pizza place. When you order you find out different. Salad bar was not good at all. Good was old. Brown lettuce and mushy olives. Pizza was average at best.

  • Cameron G.

Service was terrible. Won't be visiting again. I thought all you can eat pizza the night before a race sounded good - it was more like 'all you can wait'. Even after we talked to them about the lack of food, they told us that a large group of soccer players was taking it all before they could get to us. Besides the service, the little food we did get tasted like crap. Don't waste your money here!

  • Mathu C.

When our food arrived it was prepared incorrectly. When we approached our waitress about it her response was, "Well I told the cook not to make it like that, sorry. Do you need more Diet Coke?" And that was it! Not even an offer to fix the issue. Other than that the food was fair, not as great as it's always been in Provo. The two girls working at the pasta bar were more interested in their own conversation than assisting customers. She forgot my meatball and garlic bread as requested due to the mindless chit chat they were having.

Not bad for toaster oven pizza. Nice friendly servers, pizza hot and had lots of toppings.

I'm not sure why Brick Oven gets no love on Yelp. I enjoyed going when in Provo and tried this one out in St. George. I usually stick to the same thing though, the Garlic Chicken Pizza. It's a delicious pizza. This time we actually tried the all-you-can-eat special for $10.99 (everything minus the pasta). The salad bar has a lot of items on it. It was nice that the pizzas slices were smaller so you don't get full too fast, but the smaller pizzas didn't seem as good as the regular full size pizzas you would normally order. When I go back I'll stick to my favorite, the garlic chicken. It gets four stars from me just for that.

    (4)
  • Julie T.

I ordered a pizza with the make your own toppings. I got a pizza with crust and the veggies I stated. No sauce, or cheese. The box was two sizes too small, the pieces were stacked on each other. Won't ever be going back to this one.

I'm from out of town - driving through. We decided to stop here for dinner. We were seated fine and the waiter kept asking us to repeat what we were ordering. I asked for hot tea and he said they don't have that. Then I quietly pointed to the "hot tea" listed on the menu. He was kind of surprised that it really was listed on the menu. Between the three of us, we ordered: - 10 in pizza with cesar salad - salad without the tortilla chips with raspberry vinaigrette on the side - chicken noodle soup and a harvest salad with cheese/dressing on the side The salad comes with garlic bread, which was probably my absolute favorite part. It was DELICIOUS! The chicken noodle soup was thick and salty, but overall tasty. The salad with the vinaigrette came with ranch dressing instead, which was the wrong dressing. My salad was not complete when it arrived - the cheese on the side was missed. I asked for it and got it quickly. The pizza that arrived was tasty. We had to ask for refills. Overall - meh. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again, but I would totally get garlic bread if I came by.

This is the only place I can justify getting pasta as it's so easy to make at home. I love the all you can eat pasta bar, there are so many different kinds of noodles and sauces! The garlic bread is also delicious. We went here after hiking in Zion and it was just what I needed after a long day of hiking. The service could have been better. The waiter didn't seem vey familiar with the menu and ordering was a little confusing. Nothing to keep me from going back though.

  • Greg R.

As with just about every place we tried in St. George, the food was fine but the service left a lot to be desired. Once again, protestations of their commitment to perfection adorn each table, but apparently those are only for show. Our waiter started off nice, but was slow, slow, slow: It took him five minutes to bring us the knives we should have had when the table was set, and when he brought them, one was dirty. (This was after arguing with us about whether we already had knives or not.) Pizza had a good flavor, but the crust was overdone and a bit tough.

This is a really good restaurant to hit from time to time. They have a good salad, salad, and pasta bar. The best thing about this place is the homemade root beer and apple beer. The pizza dough is good and they have enough toppings to give anyone what they want. I would say that it's a decent value for what you get so long as you get pizza. The soup and salad bar for $8.99 isn't bad, but to add a one-time salad bar trip is $4.99. This is the one thing I would want them to change. If it was $2.99, then it would be well worth it.

  • Marilyn S.

our waitress said she would be taking care of us, glass of water after we had already gone to the serve your self your dinner i,e, salad, soup and pasta bar. barely adequate at best, soup, home made chichen noodles, thick with a blob of noodles, little flavor and no desernable chicken, flavor, forget actual chicken, salad stuff was ok, except the food slopped over from one container to another. had I used the bathroom when we entered, we would have goin elsewhere, paper on the floor, one toilet out of order, one sink out of order, and the ever popular over flowing waste paper backet. no boby died, yet .

The food at Brick Oven was decent. Over sauced, and cheese saturated pasta. Decent pizza, and a few nice deserts. We had a couple meals here while in Saint George, since it's attached to the Ramada and offered a 10% discount for hotel patrons. The food isn't great, but it's not horrible either.

We always saw this place when passing through St George and decided to finally stop and try it. The pizza was awesome! It was really tasty and had such fresh ingredients on it. I was bummed because I wanted the lunch buffet but since there was 15 minutes left in it I was told I could not have it for the special price. 15 minutes shouldn't make that big of a deal. I decided to get the single serve salad which meant I could only make 1 trip to the salad bar. I was impressed with all of the fresh ingredients they had to offer but the plates are so darn small you can't even make a salad with the toppings you want because the plates are just too small. I was disgusted after eating my salad when a young girl who looked maybe 10 or 11 used her fingers in just about everything at the salad bar (we were sitting in a booth right next to it) and she used her index finger to dip in each dressing and licked it to see which dressing she wanted. I told the server that it disgusted me and that they should replace the items with fresh. about 15 minutes later 2 woman came out and changed a lot of the stuff out but by then 3 people had made plates from the salad bar. I will eat the pizza again for sure but never ever ever the salad bar again!

This Brick Oven does not have the high standards I expected after going to the Provo location. The smell of the tables is of mildew dish clothes. The carpet is dirty. Not sure why they chose carpet. The waiter was so rushed and yet kept coming to the table to ask if We needed anything else but didn't listen in his haste. Overall 2 stars just as all the other reviews have been. Won't eat there again.

  • Mackay R.

Anybody who is "from the east coast" and is posting about the Brick Oven is a tool. Nobody comes here and expects to get the country's best pizza. The pizza is fine, pretty much what you would expect unless you're an idiot. But the feel is nasty. Greasy table tops, hand prints everywhere. Salad bar looks a little stale. Pizza Factory down the road is better, if not at least a little cleaner and more unique atmosphere. Ok family pizza joint if they would clean it up.

THe worst food ever. I can't believe people go here for garbage pizza. It is NOT brick oven! You can buy that frozen pizza at WalMart. Come on people! We are not that dumb!

  • Kristi H.

I think your experience at this restaurant will depend on what you order. My husband thought the hand tossed pizza was unremarkable, but I loved my deep pan. They also have the best salad bar I've found in the area so far. The space in the restaurant is a bit tight. We had our carseat in a sling by the table, and she got bumped a few times by waitstaff going by. Overall, I've been there twice for the pizza and salad and will probably return again.

The "Grandma's Famous Homemade Chicken Noodle soup" is too good!!! My 3 stars is for this soup alone-top with crackers or better yet fresh piping hot garlic bread straight out of the oven and you'll swear you're in heaven!!!! The salad bar was OK but understand why I'm not so excited about it -Being from Vegas the salad bars are miles long..... I did not try the pizza so no comment on that... The pasta was a disappointment- It wasn't the pasta itself but the sauce-The creamy tomato sauce had no flavor.. There were various other sauces to try but I was so full from the Chicken Noodle soup that one serving of bad pasta was enough for me. People at my table also ordered hot sandwiches- they each had to add salt for taste... Service was too slow and hardly anyone was in there!!!! We were charged dinner price for the buffet even though there was a hour left. We were confused and the waitress said her time was correct however when we went back to the hotel right after and looked at their big clock on the wall in the lobby we were right, WTF???? All in all we all agreed that we would go back just for the soup!!! Oh, and maybe next time I'll actually try the pizza.... Oh and we will make sure of the darn time!!!!

This is our place to stop every year when we go to Zion! We always do a long hike... 8+ miles and this is our end of day treat. The kids just love the Apple Beer and Root Beer. Pizza is always fresh and service is always great. We usually get there late so there isn't to much of a wait (which we like) because after you hike 8+ miles in the heat you are ready to eat dinner.

  • Travis S.

My wife and i ate her while staying in st. George. The Service was super good but the food was awful. Had the pizza and it was undercooked. It could just be our experience but according to other reviews, I doubt it. The giant cookie was the best part of the meal.

    (2)
  • Ken K.

What a HUGE disappoint this place turned out. Food was mediocre and bland at best. The worst part was the service. We were a large group and the waitress tried serving the entrees without clearing our appetizer plates and she turn surly when we mentioned it. The waitress was enough to keep us out of here again but the food cinched it.

The popularity of the Brick Oven in Utah is further proof Utahns have poorly refined tastebuds (and i'm from Utah too). The pizza and pasta are both great examples of lousy Americanized Italian fare. The service is poor as well.

Stopped in looked like a nice place, got the all u can eat ,the bread was cold, the salad bar and soup fantastic, the sampler pizzas on green plate was cold they brought new serving ok but not what I expected, next time would only get salad bar and soup

I grew up going to Brick Oven in Provo. I'm aware of the "taste". I feel like after going to this location twice now, that they are the same. Salad Bar tastes the same pizza tastes the same Pasta tastes the same Everything seems the same. That's a good thing. This review is helpful if you've been to the provo location and want to know if it's the "same" - it is. For the out of towners that reviewed this as a 2-star - it's just a taste thing. It's not like these people are making bad food. The system has been around for years (in Provo) - since the 50's.

My family ate there last week for the first time, and my wife and I were very disappointed. The service was poor: It felt hollow, fake, and young. The breadsticks were dry and crusty. The pizza crust was dry and hard, or even overcooked. For the price, I felt like I would have enjoyed Little Ceasar's a lot more. Or even a frozen store-bought pizza. All in all, I will never go back.

    (2)
  • Michael J.

Best Pizza in St George... Now I've been a Pizza Factory fan ever since I moved here, and their bread sticks are hard to beat, but I love Brick Oven pizza AND the Root Beer is fantastic. If you go try the BBQ Chicken, you will be glad you did! The cheese bread is delicious too!

  • Audrey H.

Food is good, service is sub par. I have had several experiences w/ their service where I was saying to myself, really? The staff is nice and friendly, just inexperienced I think. Love the salad bar, love the pizza, hope they improve their staff training and maybe all it takes is for them to be open longer and experience more.

Food was OK. Service was OK. I have had lots of good meals in St George...so I'm not sure I would waste my time here again.

Horrible service! Took 45 minutes for our kids meals to come out after everyone else already had their food. Seemed like no one knew what they were doing. Waiter was not helpful at all. The food wasn't that great either. Not worth the money we paid!

Great service. Good food. Very friendly staff an very helpful for the whole family. Great Root Beer. Had a white sauce personal pizza. Very good. The sauce was a bit strong, but great tasting. Will take the family again.

  • Frank L.

OK; was promised FRESH, AUTHENTIC pizza! NO! Crust was chewy, toppings were too mild to taste over the tomato-paste sauce, pasta was WAY over-cooked & sauces were bland, chicken was brined (implying frozen) and just tasted weird! Avoid unless you have no option; and then, avoid the chicken!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
