All the salad, soup, bread and pasta you can eat for $10. The Salad is pretty good stuff, the soups are hit or miss, the bread isn't worth your time and the pasta is average. Overall the place is alright, but not amazing. For $10 you can get a better meal elsewhere, and I recommend you do so. Random Note: If you are lucky you may get a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. Someone walks around with them and will give you 1. Only 1. That annoys me!
(3)Jack R.
was eating there 2 times + per week until found out being poisened by trans fats in the soups...unbelievable.
(1)Ali G.
they delver every time!! only a little pricey for lunch... Its a salad bar!! $10 bucks a person is a bit much!! great service great food nice and freeeeeee dessert!! yum......................
(4)Paul B.
Pretty much healthy eating. I like it when they may have a "theme" for the month. They did something with Lemons and that was good. Then they may have an international theme. The regular stuff is good. The soups are really fantastic and they can get adventurous at times. They try their best to keep everything clean and in order. This one is a good location. Sometimes even parking gets scarce. It is easy to eat more than you should, but at least it is healthy!

So Sweet Tomatoes has 8 soups. You would think that they would have vegetarian options. But no! Out of 8 soups, they has one vegetarian option - Asian Ginger broth, which is not even an option on their menu on the website for May. The only thing that the manager could say was "I am sorry. There is nothing that I can do besides a refund". If I wanted limited choices for soups, I would have gone to Souper Salad for half the price. Last time I ever come here. And to think I used to come here 4-5 times a month. Sweet Tomatoes, you just lost a loyal customer. Good luck!
(1)Don C.
It's not my favorite place. Parents control your kids at buffets- sorry to inconvenience YOUR dinner- I don't want your little responsibility's grubby hands in my food.
(3)Daisy L.
From fresh tossed salads to french onion soup, this is THE place to dine for those who want to eat healthy. They make the best fresh juices!
(4)Marebear P.
Salads are always fresh and there is always a great variety of other things like breads, soups, pastas, Desserts. I find myself eating so many different types of foods and I love it! The staff cleans up your plates as you eat. This is very children friendly.
(4)Amanda C.
Fresh and delicious! The variety is excellent, as there is something for everyone! The price is great and the food is even better! The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean and well stocked and maintained.
(5)Elly L.
Love this places, good for family gathering

Sweet Tomatoes has an awesome salad bar! They have 3-4 prepared salads, like the Potato & Dill Salad, Asian Wonton Salad and the Caesar Salad. The workers are constantly refilling the salad bar, soup bar and the breads which is nice. I really enjoy the cornbread because it has real corn in it! How to order: Buffet-style salad/soup and bread bar. Price: $ Service: Great service overall, nothing special. Quality: All of the veggies are super fresh, making for a delicious salad! The soups are alright, they're not all that. My favorite is the Cream of Mushroom however. The soups are helpful on a cold day when you're sick and don't want to make anything! Ambiance: It's a great place to have a healthy and fast lunch with co-workers. Final Verdict: I'd go back!
(3)Jeannette S.
I LOVE ALL YOU CAN EAT SOUPS AND SALADS! What's not to like for such cheap price for all you can eat? Oh and don't forget to print out a coupon so it's even cheaper! I love the variety in their salads, soups, bread, etc. And the ladies who take care of our plates are always super sweet! I love going there and pig out!
(5)Vic C.
Nothing memorable, but a nice place to fill your stomach with a little of this and a little of that. Cheerful, clean, has comfortable booths.
(3)Audrey H.
I'v always loved Sweet Tomatoes... I would recommend the Sweet Tomatoes in Memorial Houston 77024, however. It is by far better. This Sweet Tomatoes is great though.
(5)Mary V.
Pretty good healthy food. It's a semi-buffet so it is very relaxing and the environment is clean! Would definitely recommend for lunch.
(3)Salim G.
Great customer service, good salads. Everything else....Forget about it! Terrible pasta, soup, Mac & cheese taste like water. And how can you mess up frozen yogurt and brownies.
(1)Kelly L.
A casual salad bar good for after sports diner n healthy lunch.
(3)hoyi c.
It's a great buffet with healthy salads and plenty of different soups for the price. The only downer is that they only have 2 different kinds of pastas, and they're not that great. I'm a big pasta fan, and that is disappointing. There's plenty of seating, and it's not crowded. There are different kinds of desserts, the ice cream is actually not watery, with different kinds of toppings. I normally don't like buffets because the quality of the food is always bad, and there aren't many choices, but sweet tomatoes is great. I just wish they had more pastas!
(3)Valentine S.
BREAKFAST ONLY Review: First of all the eggs taste like rubber And the texture of the eggs look fake !! There's no bacon/sausage and it's tasteless. The Breakfast sweets are where the star Is given it's ok -- but really the eggs are No Good !! Suggestion to the Resturant - Make your eggs fresh on a frier in the front and stock the Food content fresh
(1)Jeffrey T.
Love sweet tomatoes! Absolutely love it. Always have. Salads - fresh as can be. Soups - wonderful. Pasta - meh. Breads - terrific. Price - keeps creeping up. My only complaint about the place. It used to be super family friendly to feed us all, but now... not so much. Healthy? Well, wholesome ingredients to be sure, but watch the calories and fat. So for weight watchers folks, ya just gotta be careful what you put on your plate. My favorite story about Sweet Tomatoes is that my youngest son has been the biggest fan since his first meal of solid food! Honestly.
(4)Jeanna W.
I had avoided Sweet Tomato in the past because I had no idea that they were blood relatives with Souplantation. I thought it was just an imitation and wouldn't be the same thing... however it is the EXACT same thing as Souplantation! All the soups and salad stuff and the same tasting croutons. Goodness. Of course, as you may expect, the lunch rush was packed full of people. The parking lot for AMC had zero people in it so I just parked there. It's all you can eat soup, salad, muffins, ice cream, and pizza. What the heck else more could you want?
(3)Robert H.
Just a great place to get filled and not regret what you eat. I do have a problem when they say they make "from scratch" soups everyday. I have seen the kitchen. The soups come from bags that were delivered and never made in house. Please dont say one thing when it is obvious. Good salad selection. I am partial to the asian salad for that umami taste. I usually try whatever is on the soup line as well. I am partial to the cream of mushroom and asian flavored ones as well. But when the have albodingas soup with Hispanic theme month, definitely have to try it. Good staff and nicely cleaned eatery.
(3)Glenda B.
This place has the best creamy tomato basil soup, clam chowder and loaded potato soup i have ever had.
(5)Angi B.
Not a fan of this place. The bread was gooey like it wasn't cooked long enough. The chocolate cake wasnt cooked completely either. No kinds of soup that were appealing that night salad selection was fresh and lots of stuff to choose from though. That was my fav part. Register broke so they were unable to process any payments until we were finished our meal and it was our responsibility to remind them we hadnt paid....doubt i will be returning. For the price we paid i expected more
(3)Allen T.
We have been frequenting this place for years! My kids love this place and the food is always fresh and good! I love their soups! Especially the chicken noodle! The blueberry muffins are great and the baked potatoes are plentiful and addictive! We are part of the souplantation email list and are always getting coupons which make it an even better deal! The staff always seems to be friendly and they are always on top of cleaning your half eaten plates of food away while you refill! I generally don't like going to buffets but the place is always clean and the food always fresh! Good value!
(5)Arif S.
I visited sweet tomatoes with my family tonight. We were disrespected by the manager because we wanted to move a small table to accommodate our family of twelve. Manager threatened to call the police if we did not leave. We did not want to create a scene therefore we left. But, I certainly will be filing a complaint with their head office. I also will not eat at sweet tomatoes restaurant, given their poor choice in hiring personnel. They must be desperate to have such people on their staff.
(1)Dave S.
As far as salad/soup style buffets go, this is the tops. The salad bar is massive, both in terms of standard ingredients and pre-made options, plenty of dressing options as well. They have 8 different soup types normally, and I tried most of them, and they're pretty good. Not fantastic, but good. The pizza they have is also good for this style restaurant. Desert is pretty standard, soft serve and jello, with some muffins and the like. It can be pretty crowded, but that just means the turnover is high so you get fresher ingredients. All in all this is a great buffet.
(5)Vivian H.
Looking for a quick, inexpensive, healthy meal? This is the spot! Salad bar is great and they have excellent sides!
(5)Marko L.
If you're trying to eat healthy, this is the place to be. They serve, salad, soup, and fruits. But I have to warn you, they also serve pizza, ice cream, and mac cheese.
(4)kevin c.
My wife and I visit here at least once a week. Since I am on Souplantation / Sweet Tomatoes email listings, I get coupons every few weeks. My wife and I spend 16 dollars for 2 people with 2 drinks with the coupon. The salads are always freshly tossed. The soups are always filled up. Yams and baked potatoes are excellent. Pastas are always nicely prepared and hot. What can you get for 16 dollars for 2 people? Come to Sweet Tomatoes.
(5)Mark B.
Some people think it's too expensive. BS Start the line with 2 plates and kill em. Great fresh veggies, soup and bread.
(5)Megan T.
"Yay! I'm a fan" is right. I went to Sweet Tomatoes for the first time yesterday. I was just looking for a place to grab a bite for lunch before a meeting. This is a great place to eat if you are alone or with a group. When you walk in there's nobody to tell you what to do. You grab a tray and load up on the salad bar. Then the cashier is at the end. To the side there is the "souplantation" with 8 soups (different try them), a baked potato bar, some baked goods and a warm pasta station. The mac and cheese tasted like velveeta. Bleh. I did however like the cheesy focaccia bread. But my favorite thing was the mint chocolate ice cream. So my only suggestion would be if they reversed the salad bar. The cashier should be at the front not the back.
(4)Donna N.
I think I'm leaning towards a vegetarian lifestyle, but chicken is my krypotonite. I enjoy a good and hearty salad. I really want to be healthy and eat well. I also know the importance of good nutrition. While there are some empty carbs in this place, the veggies are so worth eating here.
(5)Karen T.
Just ate here the first time on Sunday recently and I love it here. If you want to go healthy, there are a bunch is salads you can choose from with varieties of topping and sauce. There are also soup, and the one with the potatoes soup was delicious! The vegetarian spaghetti was yummy and same with Mac & cheese. I also love the ice cream. The only part I didn't like was the lack of fruits. Even though there are fruits, it wasn't that much that I can choose from. Overall, it's a nice place to go for brunch! The setting is quite comfortable and I just love the little card that says if we're leaving or be right back but in a corny way! Most likely will go back soon because it have a good price range for a delicious yet healthy buffet!
(4)Bon C.
I'm sitting here enjoying a leisurely Sunday breakfast and the food is always consistent, which is awesome! My section's server is like some kind of ninja, empty plates just vanish! Protip: Sign up for Club veg, their email program. You'll get coupons for every Sunday! (8.99 per person with beverage!)

Oh no Sweet Tomatoes. What happened? I'm really just hoping that today was an off day. We came around before the dinner rush. Only 2/3 pastas were available even though it was technically "dinner" time, and we had to tell someone to cook it for us in order to have it. The chicken chunk noodle soup was basically chunk noodle soup, and there was no meat. I saw people search the chickenless soup and came up with nothing. We also had to ask for more chicken to put into the chicken noodle soup. The macaroni and cheese was very dry and crusty, and even when the cook whipped up a new pan of macaroni and cheese it was COLD. I don't know if he ended up putting ice cubes into the pasta after cooking it, but it was just cold. The only consistent thing I ate from last time was the salad bar. Honestly, I absolutely have no idea how much Sweet Tomatoes is without coupons they send weekly. I will be returning. I would like to think that today was just an off day, and just because we didn't come during a lunch/dinner rush that the quality isn't this terrible.
(2)Jimmy D.
I love sweet tomatoes, I feel its the top teir of all the salad buffets. You know the basics they have a salad bar, ton of soups, array of bread which is my guilty pleasure ... Like seriously the bread here is amazing, some hot items like pasta, pizza, mac and cheese, some fruit bar, and a soft serve machine. I'm only leaving a review because of trying the breakfast for the first time. I believe it is 9.99? I was fortunate to be on their newsletter, though the coupon past its time the young man still allowed for it. So I got to enjoy almost all of breakfast beside those sexy cinnamon rolls =\. I could see myself going to sweet tomatoes every sunday!
(4)Cathy P.
Such a great place for healthy food!! I really enjoy going to sweet tomatoes for a clean and healthy meal! If you've never been before, you start with an unlimited salad bar before you pay, and then it's buffet style where you have access to unlimited soup, salad, and pasta! Food: the food is consistently good! You can build your own salad or grab some of their pre-mixed salads. They also have 8 variety of soups which are always delicious, and you can always count on the staple, chicken noodle soup! They also have a couple of pasta options and focaccia bread that's freshly made. My favorite however are the warm delicious cornbread and muffins!!! The muffins are melt in your mouth and so amazingly delicious!! They always have a blueberry muffin and then another variety that changes seasonally. (I always enjoy when they have the double chocolate chip muffins, but they also have a horchata muffin that tastes like snicker doodles) They also have dessert which includes freshly baked brownies, soft serve ice cream, pudding, and fruit. Price: they have raised their prices a bit, but for the amount of food and how healthy and fresh it is, it's very decent. They also always have coupons and specials that are available for use. Atmosphere: this is a very chill place that is great for the family if you want a change in atmosphere from your house. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here for delicious food!
(4)Rachel E.
Great soup and salad bar. Really fresh and there is always someone behind the counter to refill when they run out. The best part is the bakery section! I absolutely love their blueberry muffins and right now they have a spiced pumpkin muffin with cranberries! So good! I have to stop myself from eating too many. They also have a pasta section and some flatbreads, but they are just okay. I think their pasta has a tendency to get overcooked because it sits there a bit and so it's not really al dente. Drinks are good- they always have a strawberry lemonade of sorts. Desserts are minimal with a chocolate muffin and their soft serve ice cream. Their fruit selection is a little lacking. Maybe a whole banana or tiny apple. Really you are trying to be healthy, so you don't really need dessert anyways. Just grab an extra blueberry muffin! Always use a coupon when you go and you'll save a few dollars. =)

This is the go to Friday dinner with the kids (9 & 2) spot. They keep it surprisingly clean despite the loads of people constantly shuffling in amd around the restaurant. There is something here for everyone, including my vegetarian self, my vegan husband, omnivore son and ultra picky 2 year old. Fyi vegans, they label all their vegan dishes! And they usually have at least one vegan soup.
(4)Emmanuel M.
The staff is courteous and the salad is always fresh! Their options feel endless, even for vegans like myself. Good place to bring kids, bad place to bring a first date, unless you guys enjoy eating in cafeterias ;)
(4)Charlize Thuy C.
You get what you pay. Totally love Sweet Tomatoes. The food is so fresh and tasty, friendly service.
(4)Leo K.
Mmm definitely one of my favorite lunch places to go to. Sweet tomatoes has a combination of some of my favorite American comfort foods, served in a buffet style. Not the best quality of food, but they definitely have won me over as a regular customer. You start off with your main entree, which is an all you can eat salad bar with a large array of veggies and cold pastas to choose from. Aside from the lettuce, which sometimes are kind of brown on the edges, everything is kept cool, maintained fresh, and are refilled constantly. My favorite are the cherry tomatoes, which live up to the store's name of being sweet! They also have every type of dressing you can think of, regular and low fat, and croutons to top it off. The only thing I don't like is how they mash up the eggs, making it clump together and hard to scoop out. Then you have your soup bar, where they serve 8 types of soups, and the flavors varies each day. They have served some of my favorites before, like the broccoli and cheese, and also the clam chowder, but it's rare and you never know what types of soup is served on what days. Next to the soup is my favorite - baked potatoes (they also have baked sweet potatoes). They are quite small, but you can take as many as you want :) And they also provide toppings for a fully loaded bake potato (butter, cheese, bacon, chives, etc.), which makes me increeeedibly happy. Can't enjoy your baked potato without the toppings! And then next to the bake potatoes are cornbread, cheese bread, and hot pastas. They are always serving mac n' cheese, another one of my favorites (you can see why I like this place so much). And to end your meal, they also have desserts such as different types of fruits, jellos, and puddings, plus a soft serve ice cream machine with miniature cones. Just the other day they were serving s'mores! Put all of that together and I have myself a feast for about $13 omggaslkhfalskd.
(4)Arlynn G.
Went here for Sunday brunch with the family. Everything is kept neatly stocked. There is a variety of what you can get. Salad bar toppings were very diverse including the housemade dressings. They're breakfast was delicious!!! Their menus do change constantly which I like because it keeps things fresh. This place also was very very busy but they were able to keep everything full. Price can be just a tad expensive but there's always coupons online and it's totally worth it. Family left full and happy.
(4)Monique P.
I've been going here for years with my family. They serve wholesome, delicious food at a reasonable price in a family friendly environment. Go through the huge salad bar - with lots of delicious options, and you pay, get your drinks, and find a table. Then you can either start on your salad or grab some more food- whatevs! You have your pastas, then your "pizza" bread, warm dessert of the month (lava cake or something like that), muffins and breads with butter, a baked potato bar (also sweet potatoes!) and soup. There are also warm brownies, ice cream, pudding, fruit, and low calorie dessert options. Wanna make a brownie sunday? This is the time. The food selections change monthly because they do themes to mix things up. Sometimes they'll feature strawberries, lemon flavors, or do a Greek theme. However, you will always find your favorite staples. It's a dependable restaurant. Service is always really great. They're very prompt on going by your table and picking up your dirty dishes. Sometimes, they'll even give free samples of their chocolate chip cookies, which are warm, gooey, and chocolaty. They also have a breakfast buffet on Sundays. Watch out for the lunch and dinner crowd, this place can get pretty loud and hectic.
(4)Monica T.
Whenever my family wants to go out and have a great family dinner, we always choose Sweet Tomatoes. Every time we go, they have a fresh selection of food. I love how they serve different pastas, soups and desserts according to each month or week/end. The salad bar has all sorts of toppings to make the perfect salad, and they even have three different kinds of croutons. You can also find a great selection of soups from brothy to creamy, veggie to meaty. Their pastas are good, and they've finally learned made their macaroni and cheese NOT watery (unless you like that). My family and I always have a wonderful experience here. The staff is friendly and eager to help - even the cooks! TIP: Join club veg online for deals/coupons, and if you're thinking about coming here on Sunday, plan ahead for parking and seating. It gets very packed - ALL day!
(4)Christina C.
We went here on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy. I have been coming here for years! This place is consistent. The food is fresh, good and the presentation is clean. I love this place more than Souper Salad. I love the blue berry muffins, they are full of blueberries and so flavorful. Our waiter was Romero, and he was very attentive and was on top of clearing our used plates and all the other customers. He was very nice. We will be back, we love this place :)
(5)Donald C.
Always crowded when I take the family here, but we do enjoy the atmosphere and food. The place is always clean and well stocked. Staff is friendly and prompt picking up plates from the tables. This is also located in a good area with a movie theater, and plenty of shopping nearby. Great place to stop in after an afternoon of shopping or an afternoon movie. We have this on a monthly dinner out schedule! Highly recommend for you soup and salad crowd!
(5)Haneen S.
I went to eat dinner at Sweet Tomatoes on Saturday, March 1st around 7 pm with my entire family. There was a total of 12 of us. On average, my family eats dinner at this location (fountains) once a month. The service we experienced yesterday from the manager on site, James Burgeon, was inappropriate and absolutely appalling. My husband was trying to move an empty, small table over to a set of other 2 tables and connect it to accommodate our large party. We have done this every time we come to sweet tomatoes, and it has never been an issue. The manager, James, came over to my husband and rudely said, "You cannot move that table." To this, my husband responded, "Where are we supposed to sit then?" The manager's exact words were: "I don't care." Naturally, this made my husband upset, and his reply was, "What should we do, sit on the floor then?" Instead of offering an alternative table or asking us to wait, the manager said, "I don't care. You can leave!" When my brother-in-law got involved in the conversation and said, "Why should we leave? We already paid for our food, we just need a place to sit. Why can we not move this table?" The manager said, "You need to leave, or I am calling the police." We were all surprised and confused. Call the cops? We had not broken a single law, nor tried to do ANYTHING except enjoy a meal with our family. With continuous threats to call the cops and kicking us out of the restaurant after we had paid for our meals, we left. We continuously asked to speak to a manager above him, which we were denied. The employees only other remarks were that we should have made reservations and waited to be seated. We have NEVER had to make reservations at sweet tomatoes before, and IF a customer mistakenly assumes they are to seat themselves (as done on every other night at this restaurant), you DO NOT treat them in such a discriminatory, hateful way. We took our business elsewhere, and we will be certain, NEVER to give another penny to such an establishment. You better believe corporate will be hearing from us!

I used to come here as a kid and loved it. I recently came back after having not eaten here in close to 10 years. I was very surprised that it had stayed as great as I had remembered. The salad bar is always well stocked with fresh veggies and toppings and it's just extremely fresh. You have to be careful though. While soup and salad is healthy, you can definitely make these salads as healthy or unhealthy as you'd like depending on the dressing and cheese you don't or do pile onto your plate. After munching on my salad, I flipped over my coaster and hit the soup and muffin area. The muffins are always so hot and fresh. The blueberry ones are my favorite. They are definitely homemade - or at least taste as such - and always hot and fresh. Nothing is just left sitting out for long at all. I also tried the broccoli cheese soup. It's a great place to come and just try bits and bites of everything you want. It's also great for kids as they can make their own salads and just have choices to themselves about what to eat. Even the desserts aren't too unhealthy. They offer self-serve fro-yo as well as cobbler and different fruit items. You can top your fro-yo with caramel or chocolate sauce and they also have nuts and sprinkles if you want to make a sundae. Overall, this is a great family restaurant. It does get a bit noisy with all the people and children, but if you don't mind lots of laughter and the buzz of good conversation, this is a great place to try!

Dude. I've always loved Sweet Tomatoes down in California but the chains in Texas are "aiight" as my hood homies would say... For my Fresh Choice lovers this has filled that void since they've filed chapter 11 not too long ago. ANYWHO... What's up with the friggin' clam chowder having BACON?! Corn chowder having BACON, too? C'MON MAN. My husband made a good point, that just ruins it for us pescatarians, or folks that prefer the original chowders... We wanted dibs of these soups but had to settle :/ :/ However, thanks for letting us know that bacon was included, Sweet Tomatoes, but can you keep Porky pig out of these soups? My husband made a suggestion to management, then management states that the soups are pre-made and sent in from elsewhere... Hol'up, didn't they promise inhouse freshness? So that's just a hook towards salads, aye? I don't know why I thought the soup was made in the back straight from scratch, now I could've just went home and cracked open some baconless jar of clam chowder and poured into a bread bowl. Anyway, everything else was somewhat up to par, salads, breads, but the pasta can use some serious upgrading or hire a new pasta guy cause the cheese would be runny as hell like it was sped up and there was still water from the cooked pasta mixed in with the cheese concoction. C'mon now. I could've made velveeta shells out of the box better than this dude. Sweet tomatoes, you guys are a healthier buffet option to the world of MSG & hot wings, but could use some minor improvements here and there. Oh, it'd be dope if they had dairy-free ice cream, too. I'll holla.

Although the quality of the food isn't always the best, I enjoy the overall experience of going to Sweet Tomatoes every time I go. The interior is bright and warmly colored. There are usually a lot of people during regular meal times. Service is friendly, but can be slow during peak hours. Salad bar: Always fresh. Huge selection of veggies. Everything from spinach and spring mix to garbanzo beans and butternut squash. Soups: Average to good. There are a variety of soups that they rotate out, but there is always the staple Chicken Noodle Soup. GET THIS. It is delicious and will warm your soul. This is clear, hot chicken-y goodness. Clam chowder and the crazy meatball soup are also good. Potato/Breads: Sweet potatoes and spuds with a variety of toppings. Blueberry muffins are my favorite, as well as the focaccia dippers. After 4pm, there's sometimes a dessert like peanut butter chocolate chip bars or cranberry cobbler. Pasta: Sucks. Don't get this. Sometimes, I try the pasta, hoping that something has changed. Nope. The sauce is always watered down and gross. Fruit/desserts: It's always one of the two: apples, oranges, grapes, melons, or really sour pineapple. Usually just apples and oranges. Next to the fruit is usually some flavor of jello, mousse, and tapioca pudding. The hot chocolate brownies are awesome though, especially topped with some vanilla soft serve and chocolate sauce. Definitely worth a try, especially if you're watching your weight! Sweet tomatoes frequently mails out coupons, so wait for one of those and then come visit.

Sweet Tomatoes is one of those places that has a good idea and is promising but it misses the mark on a few areas. It manages to finish well on the whole. Let's look at the offerings, the good, the bad and the ugly: Salad bar: It's a good and bad. The good is the lettuce that is fresh and cool with crispness. The bad is the wilted, brown and rather warm lettuce that can be mixed in with it. Brown and wilty lettuce is an ugly when it comes to restaurant standards. You want quality when you're paying for something. Green is quality. A mix of rust and green isn't quality. The other veggie options are much like the lettuce. They will either be all fresh or mixed with stale. The mushrooms are usually on par as are the cucumbers. The peppers are generally perky. Broccoli, however, can be on the rubbery side with some "tan" rather than green color. Olives are decent but can tend to be salty or too briny. You'd think with the name Sweet Tomatoes that the tomatoes should be tops. I've had some that were too mushy and others that were only partially ripe. For the most part they are acceptable. The nuts and cheeses rank in the good category. It's hard to mess these foods up. Baked potatoes: These are the good. Cooked tender and fluffy, they stay hot in their foil blankets until unwrapped to receive that wonderful creation called butter and the chives I put on them. You can customize them with your own topping choices such as sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, etc. if you prefer. The skins are edible and well cleaned of any grit and won't leave you with a mouthful of mud particles like the unwashed potatoes some places serve. Why any place would serve a half-washed potato is beyond me. But it happens, sadly. Not here, though. These guys scrub those taters so you can enjoy eating it all. The soups: Hit or miss. The chicken noodle is tasty in flavor though sometimes lacking in chicken pieces quantity. It's a staple item and is a safe choice. Others have mentioned the Lemon Greek Orzo and I heartily second that it is indeed an amazing choice. The mushroom soup is a favorite of mine and if you like mushrooms I do recommend it. It's rich and hearty in a warming way. The breads are a very good. The breads served here are fluffy inside and perfectly crusty outside. They are good with butter or can stand alone. The pastas: I love pasta. I was raised on many pastas. Alas, the pastas here are not good. They're pretty much an ugly. Prone to being overcooked and mushy with bland watered down sauces, they are not appetizing at all. Desserts are important but the ones here are okay to meh. The ice cream is popular as are the puddings, which are not bad. Brownies are terrific and chocolatey. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Employees are quick and maybe too enthusiastic in grabbing your plates. It's as if you're being monitored and once that last forkful is on its way to your mouth they are there taking your plate. Goodness! If you are a regular here it's a good idea to sign up for weekly coupons on their website. The deals are good and work with any budget. Overall, Sweet Tomatoes gets an earned three stars. The good here outweighs the bad and ugly. When you're in a salad or light meal mood, this place is a great go-to with its good, bad and ugly.

Salad buffet with lots of other extras... but you are going to pay for it! My husband and I went there for dinner. Two buffets and two sodas for over $25. I really like the Chinese chicken salad, it's definitely my favorite. There are soups, pizza, other salads, pasta, and dessert. The place is a made house with kids running around, people constantly getting up to get more food. It's a bit chaotic. What I really don't like is that the employees will grab plates off your table as you are actively eating. I know they want to clean up, but that's just too aggressive. The food is ok and it is all you can eat. There isn't enough meat available, so after a few hours you are hungry again! They need more protein on the menu. The desserts are just ok. The ice cream was not very cold, it was more like mousse. Overall you are bound to find something you like, but I think it's too expensive. Parking: people are VICIOUS. It must be this particular location, but there just isn't enough parking at peak hours. Tonight I had one guy steal my spot I was waiting for, I was definitely there first. Then another car tried to steal my second spot. It's just crazy.

I love coming here at least once a month.. maybe every two months since its a very simple buffet that can get repetitive if you come here too often. Make sure to check online for their coupons before going! I wasn't a huge salad person until I started coming here. The only salad I'd even consider eating was the most high calorie salad, the Caesar (yum!!). Sweet Tomatoes convinced me that there are other good salads out there with the help of their Thai Chicken salad (?) It's one of their signature salads and I love the light sweet glaze and the wonton chips that are mixed in! So delish. I love coming back here for their, believe it or not, honey whipped margarine and blackberry acai lemonade. It's not the only reason but it's what keeps me returning! I do not know where they are getting their honey whipped margarine but I want some of my own to take home!! It's so yummy when you spread it on their mini baked potatoes or with their corn bread. The strawberry lemonade and the blackberry acai lemonde are soo good too! So much for being a healthy buffet... Not a huge fan of their dessert area. Ice cream seems watered down and too 'low-fat' for my taste. Pastas are pretty bland (especially the macaronni) but I think it's playing to the whole 'healthy' idea.....so I just add salt, haha I'm hopeless.

The most amazing restaurant I've been too. And amazing healthy food! There are so many choices; by far my most favorite restaurant! Also, they have excellent staff and service.
(5)Lasairiona M.
I LOVE this place! An all you can eat, (relatively) healthy buffet for around an $8 lunch? It's not deep fried, it's not fast food and there's a buffet of greenery? Couldn't beat it with a big stick!

I'd never been to a Sweet Tomatoes (or Souplantation, for that matter) but from my single trip here I can say that it's a good value for relatively tasty buffet fare. If you come in at 11am and choose to hang around to the 12pm to 12:15 mark, you can enjoy both the breakfast and lunch options (which they start brining out at around noon). Great selection of soups though only one or two were vegetarian and most are cream-based. Take your grandparents here- survey says that they will dig it.
(3)Lonny Y.
Buffets are buffets. Sure, you have the healthy salads... buuuut you also get the cream-based soups, baked potatoes/sweet potatoes, hot pasta and tons of breads. Pick smartly = healthy yay! Otherwise, it's just a ton of food to pack away. They also have a soft serve ice-cream machine. You can pair it with the hot brownies, toppings and syrups. Tip: there's ALWAYS coupons for this place. I wasn't expecting to go last week, so didn't have an appropriate one printed out. I looked one up on my phone, but it said "Not valid in Texas" and decided to try it anyways. The cashier was nice enough to scan another coupon for me anyways. And, if you're lucky, they'll bring by a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
(3)Louay J.
A good and fresh salad bar, the soups are really good and not so salty like many buffet Soups.
(4)Julia T.
Mondays are the day to go! My boss told me their mushroom soup is the best and I tried it for myself, and it really is the best mushroom soup ever. I love sweet tomatoes, because I love salad. It's a clean restaurant with good service.

Only been here a few times but i was greeted rather nice and friendly i tried the chicken soup as well as the shrimp udon noodle soup and i was hooked very tasty

I love this place! Yes, $10 for a salad buffet may sound a bit much but if you subscribe to their website, they will send out weekly coupons which lowers it down to about $7 for lunch and $8 for dinner. Because there's seasonal stuff, you can check out their online menu to see what's current. And if you don't like they have pre-made, you can always build your own salad. Salad options: lettuce, spinach, spring mix, broccoli, cucumber, olives, beans, peppers, cheese, seeds/nuts, etc If you wanna add meat or other premium toppings, there'll be an extra charge. Soups: chicken noodle, veggie, chili, chowder, etc. Breads and pastries: foccacia, muffins, garlic/cheese bread. There's also pasta! Spaghetti and mac & cheese. Dessert: fresh fruit, jello, tapioca pudding, chocolate/vanilla soft serve, brownies. Service: the cashier was very nice and helpful because I did not know what to do when I entered the place. I asked and she told me that we're supposed to go down the salad bar line, pick our stuff, pay, and sit down and eat. They clear your plates pretty promptly, and you're expected to refill your own drink from the drink station.

I love the concept of sweet tomatoes........ yum. But sometimes the quality is just okay because in the mass quantities of food they have to put out. The salad bar is always fresh, and the soup bar has lots of choices so if one is bad there's another that's good- you just have to find it. The pasta line is hit or miss-- sometimes the sauces are kind of watery. We come here whenever we find a coupon in the mail!

Sweet Tomatoes just makes my tummy smile every time. It's one of the few buffets that I actually enjoy. Here's a tip, they always send out weekly coupons once your subscribe to their website. This is especially worth if for those of you with children! For 2 adults and 2 kids, it's usually $19.99 for the entire family. For 1-2 adults, lunch is usually around $7 and $8 each for dinner. As soon as you walk in, the salad bar line begins. You can either make your own salad or get some pre-mixed salads. Keep in mind that you can add more toppings too. You can always go back through the salad buffet but you'll likely see that there's no need to because of all the other stuff you can eat. I mainly like this place for their variety of soups and it changes up every month! My favorite is Chicken Noodle which is always there! They had the Lemon Greek Orzo soup before and it tastes just like heaven in your mouth. No matter what you like, you will find a soup that's for you. Don't forget the amazing selection of homemade breads and of course, the honey whipped butter to lather on top. Yummmmm. They also have pastas, a potato bar, and of course, dessert!!!!!!
(4)Dee A.
I love this place on SUNDAYs. I will give them 3 stars because of the delicious breakfast (specially the chillaquiles casserole). Not 5, just because I wish that for the price we paid, they would have more variety of food... Sometimes I feel like a rabbit just eating greens. Having breakfast everyday would compensate for that, but is only available on Sundays. The coupons don't really help since in order to use them you got to purchase a beverage, I usually stick to water. So it comes out to be the same $$ as if a coupon was not applied.
(3)Candi D.
Decent little buffet. Place was very well-kept. However, I do not like when people sweep up right next to my table. That is a pet peeve of mine. I enjoyed the caesar salad, all of the pastas, chicken noodle soup, and ice cream most of all.

This was my second time at Sweet Tomatoes and I left as full and happy as the time before. (There was another trip between the two, but because the parking lot was full, and after three full circles still had no parking, we went ahead and went somewhere else.) My one complaint about my trip is this: there was one poor, lone soul working both sides of the cash registers, and while he was swift, efficient, polite and working both sides like a machine, I stood there longer than I thought necessary to pay before I could sit and eat. At 1pm on a weekday, surely there's enough business to warrant another person at the cash stand. I was ready to chalk up my annoyance to hunger, but I noticed people in both lines looking impatient. Salad items looked fresh and appetizing. The ceaser asiago salad was tasty, all the vegetables looked fresh, lettuce was crisp. The soups all smelled amazing, and I'm a sucker for their chili. The focaccia pizza was tasty, who knew black olives on bread w/ cheese would be so wonderful. The pastas looked good, but weren't part of my meal. The gentlemen standing there making a new batch of mac & cheese looked bored, but ready to entertain anyone who noticed him. The frozen yogurt and hot caramel was more than I needed, but topped off my meal wonderfully. I'll be back and I'll be bringing friends. Just don't expect fast parking during the lunch hour or be able to pay and get to eatin' very quickly.

Easy to get a plate(s) full of healthy food here. Just go easy on the salad dressings and the mayo items. Vinegar and a bit of olive oil is always a good choice if you want to keep it healthy. I really like that they have butternut squash and other various veggies that aren't on typical salad bars. They have a nice selection of breads, but they don't always restock quickly so they tend to run out of some choices. I really like their tomato basil and potato leek soups. Their pastas tend to be just okay to iffy, so might want to start with small portions. Their desserts aren't super great either, and I tend to go with their ice cream that I top with butterscotch and sprinkles. Sign up for their emails and get lots of coupons sent your way like buy one and two drinks and get another buffet free.

After a year or two in an unreasonably expensive big city, you start being thankful for all-you-can-eat options under $10. And this place is really the definition of what a good soup & salad buffet should be. We don't eat here very often, but we never regret it when we do. The salad options just about cover everything: romaine, spring mix, spinach, and 3-4 premixed salads like Caesar or Asian Chicken. The soup bar is just as good with around 8 choices. In addition to the regular Chicken Noodle and French Onion, they alternate their soup options, adding new recipes seasonally. And if those aren't enough, you can have baked potato, pizza sticks, and 3 choices of pasta. But my favorite part is the dessert bar. To reward yourself for a healthy meal, you can balance everything out with some warm brownies and soft serve ice cream. I really want to give some credit to the service here. The ladies in the salad bar and the workers who pick up the dishes are some of the friendliest restaurant staff I've ever seen. We always end up tipping the girl who buses the tables because she's always smiling and always polite. I hope they're getting paid well, because they're far more professional than the servers at a lot of fancy, pretentious places.

Sometimes my body tells me I need to eat some vegetables. Whenever that happens, I often head to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch if it's convenient. The salad bar seems to always have the freshest ingredients in great variety. Soups are in abundance with some regulars like Chicken Noodle and Potato along with seasonal and monthly offerings. The breads and pastas are freshly baked/prepared though I find many of them pretty bland. I think that is because they are making them "healthy" so I overlook that since that is why I came in the first place. There is no formal wait staff. You will start at the salad bar when you first enter and fill your plate with the variety of salad items. At the end of the line, you get your drink cup and pay. There is a soup, bread, and pasta bar along with a beverage bar and a desert bar. A server will come and take your tray and clear your used dishes/utensils and fill water/tea glasses. They encourage you to get a new dish for every trip to the food bars. I usually leave $1 for them but I'm sure many leave nothing. Sweet Tomatoes is great for a healthy bite to eat that's pretty good. I give them 4 stars not because the food is an example of excellent gourmet cuisine but because I feel they have variety and they are a great value. Among other "salad" restaurants, they are the best in my opinion. If you want to wow your taste buds, you will often have to go some place a lot less healthy and probably a good bit more expensive.

I heart Sweet Tomatoes. However, I do NOT heart the price. This place used to be affordable and with a coupon from the Sunday paper, it was great for lunch...it was a whopping $7 or so to cram as much salad, soup, pasta and bread into your belly as possible. Now, I went for lunch and paid over $10 for one buffet and a soda. Ridiculous. I mean, c'mon, it's salad! But it's oh so good. Although the price has gone up considerably, it's still in the running as one of my favorite lunch eateries. I'm a huge veggie fan, so this place makes me very happy. I do think they could offer meat to go in the salads for no extra charge. You can get a tiny container of chicken for an extra $1.79 or so, and I wouldn't think it was worth it. At all. Soup = amazing. I love every one of their soups. Even the noodles in the chicken noodle are overcooked at times, I still love them. Eggy and gooey noodles are the best. Fro yo = awesome! Love it! I would be the happiest person on earth if it was cheaper.

Alright, I know this is a salad bar, and many of you may think, "what's the point of reviewing a salad buffet? Aren't they all basically the same?" Dare I say, nay, shout, "no! This one is spectacular!?" I do not consider myself a Top-Chef-Foodie-Palate-Master by any means; however, I am passionate about fresh, quality ingredients for simple, everyday meals (this is why I love Martha Stewart's Everyday Food Magazine, but that's a shameless plug for another time). Every time I visit Houston, I will make sure that my family makes at least one trip to Sweet Tomatoes. They always have a wide variety of super-fresh salad ingredients, ranging from your basic greens all the way to jicama, wonton strips, and garlic vinaigrette. They don't just settle for one type of vegetable per category, either. There're at least two different kinds of beans, four varieties of mixed, cold pasta salads, four types of leafy greens...etc. And that's only at the salad bar. Then you turn the corner and find at least eight different types of homemade soups, stews, and chilies, alongside a wide variety of home-baked breads, foccacias, and pizzas. There's also a decent selection of hot pastas that are mixed fresh, every 20 minutes or so. To finish off your nutritious meal, there's a sweet selection of fresh fruits and a soft-serve ice cream sundae bar, yum! Every couple of weeks, there's a new theme, highlighting a seasonal fruit or perhaps focusing on a certain region in the world. Then, every section of the restaurant will have at least one item featuring the themed food. What a fun way to try new foods, while learning creative methods of incorporating different foods into everyday meals! The service here is always impeccable. From the moment my family sets foot in the door to the moment we walk out, we're always greeted and bid farewell by friendly faces and staff. Although you find your own table to get your own food, there are service team members constantly clearing your used dishes and utensils from your table and helping to refill your beverages. Yes, you do leave them a small tip when you leave. Cost is super-affordable (I mean, c'mon, it is a buffet, after all). Although their prices have gone up a little since they opened several years ago, they always have coupons in the Sunday paper, or you can signup to receive them from their email list-serve ( souplantation.com ). Yes, Sweet Tomatoes is, at the basic level, a salad bar. But with ingredients this fresh, it is hands-down, a head above the rest with quality that can't be beet!

My parents and I have been coming here regularly since it opened. The salad is usually crisp and fresh--though recently I've noticed it less so a few times--and there's fixins aplenty. I generally avoid the soup because it's no better than out of the can, and the pasta often sits under the heat lamps in the heated wok-thing so long that it gets overcooked. At the fruit bar, I expect fresh cut melons, pineapple, cantaloupe, etc, and that's what you usually get. For awhile they were putting crappy red apples, bananas and grapes out there, which was really uncool. The focaccia pizza and muffins are pretty good. The frozen yogurt was good once, but for at least a year now it's like they're scrimping on the dairy or something because it's almost mousse-y in the amount of air in the yogurt. The best thing about this place is that there's something for everyone.
(4)Alan P.
Wow, is this really a buffet? The quality of everything being served here is amazing- so many choices to create your perfect salad, and they also have a soup bar, a fruit bar, baked potatoes and yam, bread and muffins, dessert bar, and a person cooking pastas! I haven't been here in probly 7 years and the restaurant was just as impressive as it was back then, I'm glad that they kept everything the same! I also got a really good coupon deal on my receipt, good for next day only, so I will definitely be making a return visit tomorrow! Dear Sweet Tomatoes: I hope your corporation continues to leach the monies of all your thriving customers and you continue to grow fatter while I continue to eat your delicious salads because I don't know what good, healthy buffet food would be without you! xoxoxo I give Sweet Tomatoes a B+

Fresh salads but too crowded at times. Pasta makers are inconsistent.
(3)Sabrina H.
Sweet Tomatoes is a good lunch place for those of us that have trouble finding a healthy option at the other places the office lunch crowd frequents. And while the healthy options are there, eating 8 plates of pasta, 12 blueberry muffins, 3 cups of soup ice cream, and oh yeah, a tiny side salad isn't gunna get you trim and thin! Now that I've ranted about the overly gluttonous crowd.. My favorite menu items are.. 1) Blueberry muffins 2) Jicama in the salad line 3) Pre-mixed seasonal/specialty salads Down sides.. 1) Price. Can be a bit steep for what you get. ~$10 per person is ridiculous! I never go without a coupon! 2) No protean options (aside from eggs) in the salad line, unless you fork over another $2 for dry chicken 3) People who go to a healthy restaurant and eat crap, then wonder why they are still fat I mark down for all reasons listed above, except reason 3. Restaurants cant help that their clientele are trough feeders.
(3)Jason P.
I like Sweet Tomatoes! I believe this chain is going to be very successful. Healthy eating options will continue to flourish as long as they actually TASTE good. Consider this a step-up (in quality and price) from Souper Salad. Their soups are all labeled with the basic nutritional info, and you can walk out of here STUFFED but not as guilty because you got a belly full of the good stuff. I adore the Big Chunk Chicken Noodle Soup, and my girlfriend gets the big chunks and shreds them for her salad. The chili's are great too. They switch their themes every month, so if you get on their email list you'll know what you're walking into (and they send coupons pretty regularly too).

This is the Bible Belt's version of a place that the rest of us know as The Soup Plantation (that term probably just doesn't go over really well here in the South, especially in a state that celebrates Juneteenth - ask your closer black friends to explain it). It's not bad, it's not good. I won't go out of my way to visit one, but if I'm ever in need of limitless salad, soup, baked potatoes, and well, you know what they serve, I'll be sure to drop in. This location is pretty clean. I loved it in college in SoCal (Soup Plantation) - why it seems like just yesterday when my buddies and I would take our back packs in for an all day gaming session and would leave with wonderful gaming memories, full tummies, and much heavier back packs. Alas, since children have arrived, I just don't get the same bang for my buck as I used to. Perhaps once they've grown a little hungrier I'll become a regular once more.

My parents love this place. I love it too, I have to say. I really like it when I'm in line and a valued Sweet Tomatoes customer hands me 15 percent off coupon for my family. The salad bar is always clean and full of fresh veggies. There are about six different soups. Everytime i've gone the soups are always fillled to the rim and hot. The Chicken soup is my favorite. It kinda reminds of my grandmothers. The blueberry muffins are soooooo goood. I get them all the time. Dessert is my parents grand finale. I always make both of them brownie a la mode dessert. They both have a sweet tooth. For those looking to stick to the healthy factor. They do have fruit as an option also. The one thing I really like about this place the waitesses are always cleaning and picking up dishes. The only down side. There are usually alot f kids here. I'm talking babies to middle schoolers. They can sometimes crowd the ice cream station or the pizza area. Usually the kids are well behaved. i guess they know.....Be Good or we're never coming here again for the blueberry muffins and ice cream.

I'm lucky to live like a minute away from this place. It's pretty cheap for the amount of food you can get. I love their selections in the salad bar-jalapenos, peas, chives, even the chinese fried stick things. This place is great if you're trying to eat healthy and want a great salad. But try to resist the temptation of their awesome soups and bread sticks things they call foccaccia. I don't know how healthy those are, but they tasted sooo good. I can't get enough of them. I always die a little on the inside when I'm leaving this place cuz I'm sad I can't physically eat anymore. I just try to tell myself I'm stuffed on salad and that's a good thing.
(5)Nadya R.
I absolutely love sweet tomatoes! The food is always fresh and delicious. They also have a wide variety of foods, aside from their amazing salad. Plenty of vegetables, soups, pastas, and mouth watering desserts to choose from. The staff is great as well. Always very attentive to the customers, and super sweet! I've been coming here for about 5 years now and never had a complaint. Definitely two thumbs up for Sweet Tomatoes!

I wanted to get your attention with this horrible rating. Sweet Tomatoes should stay in the salad bar biz and should GET THE HELL OUT of the b/fast biz. Since we get coupons (and I recommend you sign up for them) we decided to try out their b/fast. Oh my, was this the worst b/fast we've ever had. The gravy for biscuits was liquiddy and cold. The scrambled eggs were that horrible, microwaved, spongy mess that is found at those hotels that dare claim they offer free b/fasts. Oh, it was bad. No meats, frozen then reheated potatoes...and for the low quality, I thought $9/person was ridiculous. Go for their salad bar, it's great, cheap and clean but DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, bother w/ their b/fast.
(1)Victoria M.
This is my absolute favorite place when I'm craving a salad and comfort food. Their salad bar has a great selection (including my new interest of beets) and they have the best soups. Their chicken noodle soup is the most popular and is made fresh daily, containing big chunks of white meat chicken. They have fresh baked breads, muffins, and pizza as well as three choices for pasta (different every day). Their pasta tends to be a little on the bland side but it's good for when you're craving a light meal. They also offer baked potatoes, yams, soft-serve ice cream with brownies, and fruit. On certain months, they will have a "special" soup or salad they serve for a limited period of time. My all-time favorites are their Greek salad and Chicken Pot Pie soup.
(4)I Love Food I.
I love the food here.. Absolutely delicious! My only beef with this place is the guy at the register. He annoys the crap out of me and once tried to hit on my sis. Hope they get rid of this idiot cause otherwise it's a solid 5 star.
