Thoroughly enjoyed my service. The Floors were clean and the tables were set. The temperature was perfect and the decor was sophisticated. The light lunch that I had, was perfect, with my choice of Endless Soup or Salad for $9.99. My food was fresh and hot. Not sure how long that special will last, but it was more than enough for one person. My server Tyland was the best!!! Very attentive and remembered all of my quirky requests. This centrally located Olive Garden is easy to get into and out two different directions on Poplar off I-240. I will definitely eat here whenever I'm in this area.

They were offering the buy one take one for free through Yelp. When I tried to place the order to go she told me that it didn't apply!!

I've compared two local italian restaurants to Olive Garden so it seems only fair that I put my thoughts on the OG officially out there. Ideally I'd give 3.5 stars but darn it that's not an option. The food is reliable, you always know what you are getting. With never ending breadsticks and salad plus large portions I always have enough for my meal plus a leftover lunch - so plus on the value. It's not the best italian but not the worst, if you're craving it it gets the job done. Where OG really gets me is the price - two can be in and out for under $40. Would I go here for "date night" no, with someone I'm dating yes. It's always a little loud and it's a popular family dining spot, nothing wrong with that. I feel it's a pretty safe option for meeting up with friends or a casual dinner out. Service is usually pretty good as well, nothing to blow your mind but your needs are taken care of. The specialty drinks are pretty tasty too.

Today was my first time at this location and it is true that the service is slow but the restaurant was quite full. Our waitress was excellent and I do wish I remembered her name! I do recommend this Olive Garden.

Great food at a reasonable price is alright with me! Nestled in a tight little island at 240 & Poplar this place is always busy, but I never have to wait long for a seat. Oh wait...that's because I mostly eat alone :) I know and hear all the negative "chain" chatter but to me this is one chain that does it right. Before the entree you're served breadsticks and bottomless salad which are both awesome. I recently had the baked Tilapia with shrimp in a white wine sauce along with parmesan-garlic broccoli. Everything tastes better with some fresh parmesan sprinkled over it. Found it all delightful!

First time ordering online. Hostess very nice. Order was correct and very good. They did not forget anything. Easy on off at poplar and I-240. I will try them again.

This is the second bad experience that we have had at the Olive Garden chain. The salads come out not fresh but was extremely soggy. The waitstaff at both restaurants (two different locations) are so busy socializing that they don't really pay attention to their customer. At this location we asked for breadsticks twice and finally received them at the end of the meal. The waitress we had brought our ticket at the same time and didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. I will not be eating at this chain anymore in the near future. Where is undercover boss?

I absolutely love this place. I realize it's not authentic Italian food, but I don't mind because the food is spectacular. My favorite soup is the Chicken and Gnocchi and I typically get one of their Chicken dishes. My husband always gets the Chicken Alfredo with angel hair pasta and it's always good. I love the bread and that if you get soup instead of salad that it is endless (though I usually only get through one bowl). Love: - Breadsticks - Calamari - Chicken Scampi (ask for mostly red peppers) - Citrus Chicken Sorrento - Moscato Castello de Preggio - Moscato Primo Amore - Salad - Stuffed Mushrooms Ok: - Bruschetta - Chicken Alfredo with Angel Hair Pasta - Chicken and Gnocchi Soup (best with cheese) - Garlic Rosemary Chicken - Proscuitto Tortellini Alfredo Dislike: - Baked Parmesan Shrimp - Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara - Mediterranean Flatbread - Minestrone - Pasta e Fagioli - Zuppa Toscana

When I still lived in the Southern California area, I was truly spoiled by the amount of quality Italian restaurants in the area. I had considered Olive Garden to be a sub-par establishment and never frequented it because there were too many quality establishments in the area. However, I have not experienced the same fortune here; therefore, Olive Garden has become a go-to when I am craving Italian. This particular Olive Garden has friendly service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the food is consistent. However, my last visit was not particularly pleasant. We ordered the two-person special which includes two entrees with two small plates. I ordered the spaghetti and requested they add meatballs and my girlfriend ordered an Alfredo dish with a side of marinara. We got our bread and salad which is customary (and delicious I must add), and then got our entrees. My girlfriend did not get her side of marinara and we had not received our small plates. We informed the server and she said she would get these things right out to us. It took a while for my girlfriend to get her marinara, and the small plates did not come until I was nearly done with my meal. One of the small plates was the chicken meatballs which simply did not taste good at all (I'd recommend they remove it from the menu entirely). I received the bill and was appalled that they had charged approximately five dollars for the addition of two average-sized meatballs. Because I have not found another Italian restaurant in Memphis that surpasses the Olive Garden, I will be coming back. However, I was certainly disappointed with my last visit (if this had been my only visit, it would be two stars), so it may be a while until I return to say the least.

Went for Father's day because it was my husbands pick and it was near what we were out doing. Olive Garden has always been "ok" to me, nothing special nothing terrible, so I don't go often. I tried something new ( Smoked Calabrian Chile Shrimp) and wasn't impressed. It just felt below average, quality a bit worse than I remember anything at Olive Garden being. The ravioli was fine, the shrimp were a bit small and almost overcooked.. but the sauce.. It tasted like someone opened up a can of salsa on my pasta.... I do like the endless salad bowl, that was the highlight of the trip. My husband seemed to enjoy his food though so that is what mattered this particular occasion.

Lunch is very busy by noon. Can't beat the prices for a healthy lunch (Soup/salad) option, though.

Somebody gave me a gift card to the Olive Garden. I thought it would be funny to eat there, maybe partake in some infinite breadsticks or whatever they're called. If you want to know what mediocrity is, or why purgatory can be worse than Hell, I highly recommend getting a "taste of Italy" from the Olive Garden. The Olive Garden taught me that the taste of Italy is apparently a nagging, caustic film left in your mouth for 24 hours and whatever you taste from your meal after throwing it back up. I ordered lasagna for a couple reasons. FIrst, I thought it would be least likely to give me food poisoning. Secondly, I figured the Olive Garden kitchen staff had probably mastered microwaving it by then. To their credit, the lasagna was in fact microwaved to a nearly edible temperature. Their chef must have spent some time in the old country mastering the ancient Italian art of using il microwavio to scorch a slab of lasagna for 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I severely miscalculated the odds of food poisoning. I woke up feeling like I was on the brink of death, started vomiting, and currently I'm writing this review on my toilet where I figure to spend the next 12 hours as my body tries to purge itself of the food poisoning that the Olive Garden's magic seems to endlessly replenish. Eating at the Olive Garden is like being sent to purgatory only to be assigned to Hell shortly thereafter. Salud!

Just like any other Olive Garden. Nothing great or exceptional about this place in particular. If you are very very hungry and cant think of any other place and this is the closest restaurant, then there is no harm in visiting this place and feed yourself. Strictly OK!

I dunno if Olive Garden is slipping, or my standards are rising as I get older, but every time I go to one (which is infrequent) I feel like it's taken another step down. At this location we've had good service the few times we've gone (all with groups) and the prices are fair. My issue is with the food, too many canned sauces, too much adding cream or butter rather than flavor. Most of the dishes just come off uninspired for me.

New Olive Garden just off of Poplar at I-240. Not bad for a chain restaurant. I guess I was most impressed by decent wines at decent prices. I had a simple meal and it was good and simple. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Nothing special, but nothing really negative either.

Soup & salad can't be beat. we sat at the bar and the bartender was swamped. She had the bar, as well as several tables around the bar and had to mix drinks for all of the other waiters. She did the best she could but service was not up to par (@ 7:30 PM on a Thursday)

I'm not one to go to Olive Garden often -- I much prefer checking out local places to chains. But when it's late, you're hungry, you have no internet to check out things on yelp, urbanspoon, or the food reviews in the local indie paper, Olive Garden and the like usually isn't a terrible choice. Unfortunately, this time it was. My husband and I arrived a little after 9pm on a Saturday. There was no wait and while it wasn't packed full, there was plenty of seating on both sides of the hostess area. We were promptly seated in the bar, across the room from a screaming child. We couldn't get the wait staff's attention long enough to move, and thought we'd tough it out when one of the waitresses brought the screaming child's parents take out trays within minutes of us being seated. Needless to say, they didn't leave any time soon, and by the time our salad had been eaten, we had both grabbed some painkiller -- we couldn't get our waitress's attention enough to get boxes to go. The only time she came back was to give us our check (without seeing if we wanted dessert). She never came to ring up the check. We went to the hostess table, to see if they could do it or get someone (as my other half's headache had turned into a migraine) and ultimately, we ended up getting the bartender to ring us out and give us to-go boxes. She apologized for the poor service and the seating area (saying that she had mentioned to the hostesses that they should stop seating people over there while the baby was screaming) and offered to order dessert but at that point, we weren't interested. We gave the bartender our waitress's tip. But the story doesn't end there: on the drive home, I started feeling a rumbling in my stomach - the kind one gets after bad food has been eaten - and my other half was feeling like he might puke (but attributed it to the migraine, since he hadn't eaten much more than a few breadsticks). I ended the night on the (hotel) toilet with the runs, writing Olive Garden corporate a nastygram about my experience. Stay away from the shrimp and crab ravioli, mmmkay?

The best location. I go every Sunday. I sit at the bar and enjoy myself.

Service is hit or miss. Sometimes its great, sometimes it super sucky. Portions continue to shrink also. But the Eggplant Parmesan is worth the abuse. It is so good I would probably let them slap me if that is the only way I could get it. I also love the lasagna fritter appetizer thingies. And of course the salad. But anything else I get is usually disappointing. The grilled "specials" that have beef or chicken tend to taste like a frozen dinner or something. But the eggplant parmesan makes me giddy.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
