Not great but not bad. Greeted and seated quickly on Sunday evening, not crowed. Server was friendly and efficient. Salad average, both pasta dishes we ordered were tasty, portions are large, spinach side freshly prepared, bread seems like pizza dough. Not a must go to but would eat there again as it is in the neighborhood.

This was our second time to this place. Our first visit we got there at a decent time for dinner and shared some wine and flatbreads. The food is alright nothing to fan girl over. The wine is probably their most prized possession. They range from house wine which is only $5.00 to a $90.00 bottle. The best thing is that their house wine is 50% off on Wednesday nights. So we went last Wednesday and our service wasn't amazing. We got there at9 and they closed at 10:00 so we had a good hour to spend some quality time with each other. We had two glasses of wine each which only came out to like $16.00. The restaurant only had an hour left so I think the waiters were more focused on cleaning up the floors and tables than actually waiting on us. It seemed like we were being rushed out a little bit... I just expect a waiter to engage and have with you and really give that good quality service.

Okay, okay... I said that I would not be back after the last debacle with attempted take out and the ordering snafu that occurred with said attempt. Notwithstanding this fact, I gave this place another chance, and they have at least redeemed themselves in the take out ordering department. Staff was overly courteous and very helpful. Food is still good, but not great. With that said, however, the food is definitely on the better side of what you would normally consider average. This is a good place to grab drinks and a quick bite although it is definitely not gourmet or "fancy." All in all, this place is a solid choice, but do not expect to be overwhelmed by the taste or quality of the food.

I wish I could add a half star! This is a solid 3.5 overall. The complimentary cheesy bread and olive oil with herbs is delicious. The walnut chicken salad with blush vinegarette, craisins, roasted red peppers and goat cheese is AMAZING! There was a large portion of sliced grilled chicken both times I visited. The pIzza was ok... Disclosure: I am a HARD grader on pizza. Spaghetti and meatballs featured perfectly cooked noodles and a generous portion of sauce and big meatballs. I'll definitely go back for that bread and salad though! (It's hard to make me eat salad these days without miserably choking it down. Haha) plenty of parking in the back. They also have happy hour specials and brunch, which I haven't tried yet. I've only gone there for dinner and lunch during the week, so not sure what the crowd/wait time looks like. Restaurant looked kid-friendly as well.

OK Old Venice, enough is enough. 2nd time in a row I've eaten here & the "complimentary" bread is not offered to our group. I assumed, as it was on just about everyone else's table, it was still complimentary? Why yes it is, but, evidently, you must ask for it. So, when our salads were delivered to our party of 6 on 1/5/15, we asked... "Sure, I'll bring you some". Why thank you Mallory. But alas, several minutes later, still no bread, our entrees arrived. So, I guess it's complimentary, but you have to ask for it, hope you get it, maybe not, maybe. Ridiculous. What a joke of a policy. Last time I'll visit.

For a place that has the word "pizza" in their name, you expect them to get one thing right...take a guess...Pizza. The verdict? Eh, it's ok. I've had the Margarita pizza in the past, have done a build-your-own, and this time I tried the crawfish with Cajun seasoning. I was expecting it to be flavorful, but instead it just tasted like pizza with some stuff on it (didn't taste any crawfish seasoning). You know that feeling when you're like "OMG, I'm totally craving pizza" and then you eat it and you're like "Yes, this was EXACTLY what I wanted!". I never walk out of here with that feeling, but I also never walk out of there saying "man, that was terrible". One big bonus is that their side salads are a good portion and they are cheap! Adding a protein on top is pricey, but their salads are always fresh. If you're looking for a place with a lively atmosphere that is clean and has a decent drink menu, I would go here. If one of you wants pizza and the others want to eat just regular food, I would go here (the menu is pretty extensive with non-pizza food items). If you're looking for "I'm craving pizza" food, there are better places to go in Memphis.

Just stopped here for drinks and an app pre-birthday celebration and I have to say they have one of the best spinach and artichoke dips I have ever had! It comes out steaming hot, (more cheese than veggies - WIN!) And served with crostini's instead of that dumb pita bread, or chips you usually get stuck with. We also had come champagne splits at $10 bucks that were great. The service here is friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere looks like a typical Italian chain. We sat at the bar ate, drank, and had a blast!

We absolutely LOVE this place. I recommend the Daddy Crawdaddy pizza, Cajun pasta, and the appetizer sampler. Everything on their menu is delicious! We love to go on Wednesday nights because it is half off on bottle of wines, plus half off on pizzas! It's a great deal. We do take out a lot, but if you want a great place to watch a game, too, sit in the bar area! :)

One word to describe the meal I had here- "Delicious". I had the rasta pasta which is a penne pasta dish with grilled chicken, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, onions and topped with a caribbean jerk cream pasta. I added shrimp which doesn't typically come with the original pasta dish. The service was good and would recommend this place for lunch and their brunch.

This is a great restaurant and one of my favorites for good pizza. Although customer service isn't what it use to be with some of the servers, I still give it 4 stars for their effort and the good pizza and bread. This visit started a little rocky as our server stated they were out of the bread they normally serve. The manager even confirmed it but we were later brought some bread. My last visit I was charged a to-go fee when I asked for my dessert to go. Unfortunately I had management take the dessert and fee off my ticket after the male manager refused to take the fee off of my bill.

I was shocked to see the mediocre reviews of Old Venice. I love it there. The food is always consistently good. I ate there again tonight. The complimentary bread was fresh and wonderful. The service is great and the food is excellent. I like the pasta with lobster and crab. My daughter and husband love the fettuccini. They are usually busy, yet not so busy that I've ever had to wait for a table. And don't get me started on $5 wine bottle Saturday. That's a wonderful deal for great wine with dinner. And I can take the bottle home. Yummy!

There is something to be said for location because that seems to be the only reason I ever come here. I'm constantly annoyed by how expensive the drinks are ($10 for a prosecco split?! Are you kidding me? Other places it is $5) and how uninteresting the food is. The fried cheese literally tastes like the ones you buy from the freezer section and so does everything else you order. Therefore, I hardly ever eat here...this is strictly a drinking spot for me and my friends even though they are "known" for their pizza. That being said, it is right by my house...you can get a high table by the bar 90% of the time...they stay open late all week...and one of my favorite bartenders works there. Therefore, they get 3 stars. I just wish I didn't want to scream every time I look at my bar tab. Definitely not a cheap drinking spot, but a safe bet.

Picture it: Oxford, Mississippi, 2002. I was sitting in a quaint little Italian restaurant on the square, eating lasagna bolognese that rivals anything an old Italian lady would cook in her own kitchen, and enjoying some fresh baked rosemary bread with olive oil and herbs for dipping. Seriously, the lasagna was the best Italian food I have ever put in my mouth. Sometimes I never even made it upstairs to the Burgundy Room. Back then, OVPC was a 5 star restaurant, without a doubt. Those were the good ole days. Unfortunately, it seems that when the additional locations opened, the quality of the food changed. The lasagna definitely changed, and now the rosemary bread seems to be a thing of the past as well. If I had never had the original recipes, I might not be as disappointed every time I eat there. What do they have going for them? They bring complimentary barely-leavened breadsticks to the table with the dipping oil. The new lasagna recipe is decent. The daddy crawdaddy pizza is still pretty good. They have a nice selection of unique pastas and sandwiches. The crawfish soup is quite impressive. This place is still a good little lunch spot. Pizza and a salad, or sandwich and soup or salad, for less than $10, is hard to beat. The service is great, and they have a nice little patio. No, it's certainly not what it used to be, but hey, I'm a lot older, chubbier, and more wrinkled than I was back then. Who am I to judge??

Eating here years ago, and then coming back recently in the last month or so, I've changed my mind on this place. 1. Parking sucks, it's very dark in the back of the building, and if you drive a large vehicle, forget it. 2. Music is just way too loud for a group of people at a large round table to have conversation while waiting on your meal. 3. Service is questionable now. One person brings your drinks, someone else goes to refill, and you get the wrong drink. 4. The pizza isn't as good anymore. Their crusts are dry and overcooked, and the toppings are skimmed down so much it's not worth the cost. The overall feel of the place is not the same, and I used to recommend people try it out, but not anymore. Marginally good pizza for an inflated price, and poor service, no thanks...

Not impressed. The deluxe pizza tasted like a frozen or homemade pizza. Nothing special. The spinach dip was pretty good. The very hot plate was placed in front of our small toddler. (Bad bad bad). The salad I had was good but it would have been hard to mess up. Waited for drinks to be refilled. Asked for pepperoncini and the server did not know what that was. We asked for a box for the left over pizza and got 2 for 2 small pieces of pizza. When we finally got the check she didn't come to pick it up so we had to take it to a manager and didn't get a pen to sign and tip. She came back oh sorry there was a lot of confusion....?.... Now the highchair situation! This is a big one as I have 4 children. The first chair the strap was broken the keeps the child from sliding out the front so we took it up and got a new one. Instead of taking it out of circulation it was given to the next couple with a small under 1 child! The chair we got had a broken buckle and had splits in The wood at the screws so it was structurally unsound in addition to having a broken buckle. Both were dirty!

What a great place! I visited Old Venice Pizza Company for the first time last week. 5 thing I love about this place... 1. The location, East Memphis right off Perkins, it's convenient for many areas 2. The Saturday wine special, $6.99 a bottle 3. The decor/scenery. The bar is trendy and the dining area is cozy. 4. The food. Everything I tried was amazing. The bread that comes with the meal, the flat bread appetizer, and the manicotti. 5. The price. The food is all very reasonably priced, especially for the quality. Check it out, it's a great find.

I like going to Old Venice because it is: 1) Close to my home, 2)Has a patio and 3) has some good drink specials during the week. The food is just OK, however. If you're not getting a Pizza, you're pretty limited with the food selections. I judge Italian food by the quality and taste of the Marinara sauce used. If a restaurant can put out a tasty marinara, then you can be sure that most of the food will be good. Unfortunately, OVPC doesn't have the best marinara. I will say that they have some good salads and the new Flatbreads on their Appetizers list are gaining favor with me. All in all a decent place with good atmosphere, just don't expect the most authentic Italian experience.

So I don't really get the bad reviews...I'm not saying Old Venice is authentic italian by any stretch of the imagination but it has a varitey of offerings. I'm a big fan of their pizzas...the individual pizza maybe too much for me to finish on my own in one sitting but it tastes great leftover. One I had recently was the Banscueccio--strange, unpronouncable name, but very tasty. It's a chicken pizza made with cream cheese and mozarrella so it's super creamy and they add red onions and jalapenos, with a swirl of tomato sauce--all those flavors together just work! They also have "make your own" option if you prefer to style a pizza yourself. They have house wines on the list--and if they're running a special you can get a glass for just $3. Try to come during happy hour to make the most of it.

The pizza is great, i cant peak for much else because that's all we ordered but it came out fast- all the ingredients were fresh, and it wasn't overdone to the point you cant make out the individual flavors as pizza often is. Server was quick and the 2 for one draws was a great deal. The only negative is the Italian sausage on one of our pizzas was a bit overpowering on the slices that had more than their fair share of the topping, some people may not mind it but for me personally the seasoning in it was too heavy to balance with the other ingredients. That said, we will definitely be back!

I'm married to an Italian, so this is about the only Italian place he willingly goes. We don't eat Italian out much as he cooks it so well himself . . . but, when we are in the area, we tend to go to Old Venice because it's pretty consistant. Things have changed over time, though . . . They used to give you a big loaf of bread, or at least some big rolls with butter, etc., but now, it's pizza crust with herbs sprinkled on it. Ok, even a fast food joint can do this! What happened to your Calzones??? That was the ONE thing I could get here that was special, but no longer on the menu! You serve Lobster Egg Rolls . . . since when is this Italian??? So, I'm assuming these are frozen and you fry them up and sell them 1 at a time which makes you a TON of profit. I feel SO USED! The fried Mozzarella sticks were cooked WAY TOO HOT - they were almost burned on the outside, but not all the way melted on the inside. This is something SONIC does to their Cheddar Peppers and I can expect this for a $3 appetizer, but not in an indoor seating restaurant! Turn the heat down and cook them 1 minute longer! Really? You haven't discovered this yet? My daughters liked their meals, and my pizza was alright, thus the 3rd star. Seems like this size and type of restaurant would have some hand-made items and boast about it.

I almost never go to Old Venice. That is not meant to be an insult to the restaurant, it is just not in an area of town that I frequent. That being said, I have never had a bad food experience there. Notice I said food experience. The service at Old Venice has never been spectacular for me. It has been passable, it has been decent, but that is it. Other times it has been abysmal. The food is delicious, but the appetizers do not get high marks for me. They are inconsistent. Take the calamari for instance. They are great, but sometimes when you order them you get like six pieces. Other times the plate is mounded with them. Last time I ordered them (to share) I was actually embarrassed by the tiny portion. I should have said something, but our server seemed new and I didn't want to give him a heart attack. He was nervous enough already. The pizza at Old Venice is delicious. It is not my favorite (oh just wait for that review, friends) but it is very good. They have one pizza with this balsamic that is just lip smacking delightful and another with cream cheese, chicken, and jalapeno that I just can't resist getting. You might be doubting me about that cream cheese, but once you try that pizza you will change your tune. You can't go wrong with either of those pizzas. To be fair I have not tried much other than the pizzas and the appetizers. Overall, however, Old Venice is definitely worth your time if you are in the Laurelwood area and craving some tasty pie.

Italian food at it's greatest! My main reason for liking Old Venice is because their menu is not the plain boring spaghetti meatball italian spot. At Old Venice they offer gourmet pizzas with all sorts of toppings my favorite is the ban schwazio it has fresh toppings with lots of flavor! Also, they offer this great cajun pasta called the rasta pasta that is absolutely delicious! If you are an appetizer person like me then order the flatbreads! The flatbreads have the freshest taste and are not all that fattening. Wine Wednesdays are great as well here they have half priced wine. I will definitely be back to Old Venice for more! Ciao!

I do not know why my fiancé loves his place as much as he does. I'm sure if he were to write this review he would give Old Venice 5 stars, but since I am writing it- 2 stars. I have tried to get into it but each time its just bleh for me. I guess I like that if you spend a certain amount you get a bottle of wine for $6??? And the atmosphere is pretty ok. Its nice for a casual date night. But who chose the background music? Its so out of place lol. But it makes it fun I guess.... sipping on those healthy glasses of $6 wine and listening to 90's alternative rock and R&B. I for the life of me could not remember the name of Mark Mcgraths band (Sugar Ray btw). I did not finish most of my food there, but I will admit it was 3 times better the next day. But most Italian is.

First time going and the experience was definitely not a good one. had to ask the server twice (the only two times she even came to the table, by the way) for more water. Food wasn't super great, but wasn't terrible. One good thing I can say is that even though it was pretty packed, our food was brought out quickly, which was nice. The one thing I really disliked was the fact that 18% gratuity was added to my bill (there were only 6 of us). We thought this was a mistake so we asked to speak to the manager and she told us that since we didn't pay on one check (I paid for myself, while the others were on one ticket) that they automatically add the gratuity. We were confused by this and clarified by asking if two people sit at one table and each pay for themselves, they will automatically be paying 18% gratuity. She said yes. We said we were unaware of this and that it really didn't make sense and all she said was "well it says this on the menu." I have never dealt with such an unsympathetic manager. I guess it was our fault for not noticing this sooner, but the fact that the manager was somewhat rude about it and made us feel like we were complete morons for not knowing this, made the situation ten times worse. So just a heads up, unless you pay on one ticket, you will be paying a gratuity despite how good or bad the service was (in our case, it was bad and the server did not deserve the tip she automatically received). And don't expect any sympathy from the manager if you do have any problems.

I don't get the bad reviews. I've been here multiple times, probably tried every pizza there is, and I am never disappointed. The are good-sized (I always have a couple slices left-over) and fresh. Not "freezer sectioned", IMO. Their service is mediocre, but it's not horrible. Not sure if their drinks are overpriced or whatever, but their "wine-down Wednesdays" are a pretty good deal. I also noticed they have a drink specials stand on their tables, so there's obviously cheaper drinks. Also have had their pastas, really good. Most have a spicy twist to them. Overall it's a great value and I would recommend to anyone.

The food is fine, nothing special. The problem is the 18% gratuity that they automatically charge parties of TWO or more if they have seperate checks. You see, having to provide two seperate receipts is soooo inconvenient that they deserve something for their trouble. I went here the other night with a friend. I'd been telling people about this place and encouraging them to go. They really made me wish I'd kept my mouth shut. I will note that it was half-price wine Wednesday, so they were really busy, but that's not an excuse for this experience in my book. First, parking is extremely limited when they're busy, so we had to park across the street. This isn't a huge deal, but considering the rest of the experience, it was the horrible cherry on top of an already awful sundae. When we walked in, the bar was standing room only so I asked the hostesses if they had happy hour and specials in the whole restaurant or just in the bar. She told me it was everywhere so they sat us in the dining room. My friend and I sat down and waited while we watched the servers check on and server everyone around us. Finally, when I was about to leave, this guy came over and helped us. I've already commented in a past review on their food, and the food was fine, but the service was awful. He informed us that happy hour was only in the bar. We stayed anyway. After my first glass, I ordered one of their more expensive bottles of wine instead of opting for the half price wine. He either had no idea how to open a bottle without destroying the cork, or didn't care enough to try. He just threw the busted cork on the table and walked away. I even had to ask for a fresh glass so he didn't just pour the wine in with the half-price wine. The whole night it felt like he just didn't care as much about our table as much as the other tables, and was trying to push us out the door. Everything was excellent! The trio appetizer (lobster cheese eggrolls, mozzarella sticks, and shrimp) was perfect. The cheese was very, very fresh. The gorgonzola pear salad was excellent. The pizza was fantastic and I am from Chicago and usually do not like NY style pizza. The freshest ingredients had to be used for everything including the caramel cheesecake. A wonderful dinner! We will ne back!!

Love Old Venice! I've never had a bad experience like some of the other reviewers. We come here pretty frequently on the weekends and have always enjoyed ourselves. I love the pizza, but my favorite has to be the vegetable flatbread appetizer. It's to die for. There's a mixture of squash, zucchini, portabellas, red and green pepper and goat and ricotta cheese. If that isn't good enough, they drizzle a balsamic glaze on top. It's stupid good. I can't go here without ordering one and I always have a hard time sharing. I've also tried a few of the pastas and they aren't to be missed either. Give this place a try!

I've been here a couple of times, and while I wasn't blown away, I did think the food was pretty good and the atmosphere fun. A favorite hangout for some in the East Memphis area, they are known for their pizzas but I decided on a Greek salad instead. The portion was huge so I shared some with my daughter who wasn't as impressed as I. She was way more into the shoestring fries. I believe Old Venice serves brunch on Sundays complete with omelette station. I like the patio- it's a pretty decent size and gets quite busy when the weather is nice.

I read some of the previous reviews and I've got a tip. The service you received was probably bad because unfortunately you cannot go when it is crowded. My husband and I now go on a Friday around 4-ish. Small crowd and we are the loudest folks in there! The drinks are much better around this time probably because we can chat the bartender up due to hardly any customers. As far as the food, I chose to forgo pizza on a visit and tried the Trauclaire. It's sauce had way too much hotsauce/tabasco in it to even call it a sauce. It was hot sauce with something else in it, not a cajun sauce. And a no to the Boudreaux sandwich. Not enough crab tail "pieces" cause that's what they are, and too much bread. Did I mention the drinks were good? The majority of the pizzas are pretty good (as they should be) and there is a pizza on the menu for any palate.

Hummmm......Interesting. I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews on Old Venice from my fellow Yelpers. Well here's my two cents. This may not be my top choice for Italian, but there are some things here I like very much. First of all, they have an nice bar area and it's a really good place to go for after work drinks. They have some creative cocktails on the menu that are quite tasty - such as the Wedding Cake Martini and the Old Venice Typhoon. I don't care that much for most of the entrees here, but I do actually love their pizza. My sons love them too. My favorite is the Tuscan Sun, which comes with chicken, spinach, goat cheese, basil and an olive oil base. Very yummy. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is nice - can get loud during peak hours.

My cousin loves this place but I had a bad experience here and would definitely not come back. Service: So I got carded but I live out of TN. The waiter stares at my New York ID and says it's fake. I had another ID from when I used to live in California state. They said I taped it together! Talk about professionalism. It's bad enough they don't know how to read IDs they would even blatantly accuse me of having a fake ID. And that was coming from management that said that. So that's a little FYI. If you're from out of state and look under 21, you may need to teach them how to read IDs. Food: I gave them another chance and y'know, I didn't know what the big deal was with the food. The food reminds me of this place that called Ilianos and they both use so much cheese on their pizza. I just don't like that. Way too greasy for me. I'll have to admit they had a lot of crazy different styles of pizzas, but it just didn't hit the spot with me. Plus: What I did like about this place was the interior look of the place. That's about it.

Not a good place to go if you intend to talk with people in your party. It is SO LOUD you may have a really hard time hearing anybody. I'd say most of this is pretty standard stuff, and I was a little disappointed when they didn't have all the calzones on the menu that they have at the Oxford location. But never fear, because that led me to the discovery of one of my all-time favorite dishes: the Roasted Veggie pizza, which I have dreams about. I have to eat one of these at least once a month. I am not usually an order-the-same-thing-every-time kinda girl, but I would never even CONSIDER ordering something other than this pizza. Let me tell you about it. You should definitely get your pizza thin crust so that the veggies really make an impact--it is topped with zucchini, squash, red peppers, green peppers, and portobello mushrooms (of course I leave the mushrooms off because mushrooms are stupid). Instead of marinara sauce there is pesto. GENIUS, I declare. Also, the best part? A balsamic reduction sauce that is sweet and tangy and absolutely perfect on this pizza. Another standout on the menu is their spinach artichoke dip--the dip itself is covered in cheese and then baked golden brown, and it's served with triangles of buttery flatbread goodness. YUM. The dip is very filling though so be forewarned.

I heard high praise of Old Venice for their pizza and was looking forward to trying it for dinner tonight. We were both pretty hungry, so we ordered more food then we normally would. We first started out with a couple of salads. I got the greek salad. It was unimpressive. It was too heavily bathed in it's oil dressing. We also ordered the hot spinach and artichoke dip. This wasn't very good in my opinion either. It wasn't horrible, but not very good. We then decided to split the margherita pizza. This was a bad choice. The sauce wasn't good, the cheese was weak, the tomatoes were flavorless, and the little basil they put on the pizza was wilted. Also service was slow and unattentive. These guys aren't getting a second chance.

I went to Old Venice with a group of girlfriends on Wine Wednesday (half off house wine). We were seated promptly. The food was good, but it wasn't mindblowing. I ordered an individual thin crust pizza with feta, spinach, artichokes and mushrooms. Others at the table ordered either pasta or an individual pizza, and they seemed to like what they got, too. The biggest issue was that our waitress rushed us through dinner. We sat down at 7:30, she immediately got our drink orders, then very hastily took our dinner orders. When we were halfway through dinner, she asked us if we wanted dessert. When we said no, she closed us out even though a couple of us wanted another glass of wine. She clearly was trying to get us out of there so that she could leave. I might understand if it was late, but it was only 8:30ish.

My friend asked me where I want to go to eat for a quick bite before the movie for my birthday.. So I chose old Venice because it's close to where we work.. I was scared there will be a long wait so I was surprised when they seat us right away.. The service was awesome.. I ordered the lasagna and my friends ordered pasta.. Their foods came out first so the waitress said the manager took the lasagna of the check; which is really nice but really unnecessary because the lasagna came out literally like 2 minutes later. The waitress was very sincere about me getting my foods later than my friends which made me feel really bad because I don't really mind. The foods and services were good as always.. I'm really glad I chose old Venice; made my rough day a lot better.

Old Venice is one of my favorite places for girl's night in Memphis, especially on Wednesdays. You can't beat half price wine and pizza. Although, it's worth it to skip the 1/2 price one-topping deal and go for the Banscueccio specialty pizza. Cream cheese, jalapenos and chicken? To die for.

The deluxe pizza is to die for! Great ambiance and not loud to where you can't have a conversation. The bar area needs to be upgraded a bit, but not really a complaint. The pub tables in the area make it nice. Their happy hour half off drinks and personal pizzas is a steal! Love it!

Easy to duck into for a predictable dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Getting there before 7pm, on a weeknight, gets you discounted drinks, if you are into that. Otherwise the prices on drinks have a good bit of margin built in. Tonight's meal was two salads and a pizza. The Greek salad is a good choice and the Caesar is a decently safe bet. The pizza is a tasty combo of crunchy, chewy goodness with excellent toppings! The atmosphere is a little funky, but it's not annoying. If nothing else the old adage still holds true: location, location, location. This is super accessible and consistent restaurant and I've always come away happy.

This visit was on a Saturday night. We ordered the mannocotti with a side of asparagus and Margherita pizza with added sausage. Our waitress (Daphne) was very attentive and professional. We even observed her "coaching" and aiding other staff to make their jobs easier, all while scanning for our needs on each pass. This is much better than when we run into the waitstaff who can't multitask. She was the only waitress we observed who didn't hang out by the bar to talk (we were seated in the room behind the bar and had a good view). We later learned that she is one of the bartenders, thus the good multitasking! Great job, Daphne! The food tasted very good today...again. So, we've had consistent good food over the last two visits and with the outstanding service today, I'm changing my rating from a 3 to a 4.

I like going to Old Venice because it is: 1) Close to my home, 2)Has a patio and 3) has some good drink specials during the week. The food is just OK, however. If you're not getting a Pizza, you're pretty limited with the food selections. I judge Italian food by the quality and taste of the Marinara sauce used. If a restaurant can put out a tasty marinara, then you can be sure that most of the food will be good. Unfortunately, OVPC doesn't have the best marinara. I will say that they have some good salads and the new Flatbreads on their Appetizers list are gaining favor with me. All in all a decent place with good atmosphere, just don't expect the most authentic Italian experience.

Picture it: Oxford, Mississippi, 2002. I was sitting in a quaint little Italian restaurant on the square, eating lasagna bolognese that rivals anything an old Italian lady would cook in her own kitchen, and enjoying some fresh baked rosemary bread with olive oil and herbs for dipping. Seriously, the lasagna was the best Italian food I have ever put in my mouth. Sometimes I never even made it upstairs to the Burgundy Room. Back then, OVPC was a 5 star restaurant, without a doubt. Those were the good ole days. Unfortunately, it seems that when the additional locations opened, the quality of the food changed. The lasagna definitely changed, and now the rosemary bread seems to be a thing of the past as well. If I had never had the original recipes, I might not be as disappointed every time I eat there. What do they have going for them? They bring complimentary barely-leavened breadsticks to the table with the dipping oil. The new lasagna recipe is decent. The daddy crawdaddy pizza is still pretty good. They have a nice selection of unique pastas and sandwiches. The crawfish soup is quite impressive. This place is still a good little lunch spot. Pizza and a salad, or sandwich and soup or salad, for less than $10, is hard to beat. The service is great, and they have a nice little patio. No, it's certainly not what it used to be, but hey, I'm a lot older, chubbier, and more wrinkled than I was back then. Who am I to judge??

Eating here years ago, and then coming back recently in the last month or so, I've changed my mind on this place. 1. Parking sucks, it's very dark in the back of the building, and if you drive a large vehicle, forget it. 2. Music is just way too loud for a group of people at a large round table to have conversation while waiting on your meal. 3. Service is questionable now. One person brings your drinks, someone else goes to refill, and you get the wrong drink. 4. The pizza isn't as good anymore. Their crusts are dry and overcooked, and the toppings are skimmed down so much it's not worth the cost. The overall feel of the place is not the same, and I used to recommend people try it out, but not anymore. Marginally good pizza for an inflated price, and poor service, no thanks...

Not impressed. The deluxe pizza tasted like a frozen or homemade pizza. Nothing special. The spinach dip was pretty good. The very hot plate was placed in front of our small toddler. (Bad bad bad). The salad I had was good but it would have been hard to mess up. Waited for drinks to be refilled. Asked for pepperoncini and the server did not know what that was. We asked for a box for the left over pizza and got 2 for 2 small pieces of pizza. When we finally got the check she didn't come to pick it up so we had to take it to a manager and didn't get a pen to sign and tip. She came back oh sorry there was a lot of confusion....?.... Now the highchair situation! This is a big one as I have 4 children. The first chair the strap was broken the keeps the child from sliding out the front so we took it up and got a new one. Instead of taking it out of circulation it was given to the next couple with a small under 1 child! The chair we got had a broken buckle and had splits in The wood at the screws so it was structurally unsound in addition to having a broken buckle. Both were dirty!

I almost never go to Old Venice. That is not meant to be an insult to the restaurant, it is just not in an area of town that I frequent. That being said, I have never had a bad food experience there. Notice I said food experience. The service at Old Venice has never been spectacular for me. It has been passable, it has been decent, but that is it. Other times it has been abysmal. The food is delicious, but the appetizers do not get high marks for me. They are inconsistent. Take the calamari for instance. They are great, but sometimes when you order them you get like six pieces. Other times the plate is mounded with them. Last time I ordered them (to share) I was actually embarrassed by the tiny portion. I should have said something, but our server seemed new and I didn't want to give him a heart attack. He was nervous enough already. The pizza at Old Venice is delicious. It is not my favorite (oh just wait for that review, friends) but it is very good. They have one pizza with this balsamic that is just lip smacking delightful and another with cream cheese, chicken, and jalapeno that I just can't resist getting. You might be doubting me about that cream cheese, but once you try that pizza you will change your tune. You can't go wrong with either of those pizzas. To be fair I have not tried much other than the pizzas and the appetizers. Overall, however, Old Venice is definitely worth your time if you are in the Laurelwood area and craving some tasty pie.

It's always great to have father and son night at Ole Venice. We love their Pizza! The service is always service is always great. It's a little louder than normal. I guess people are excited about going out since it has warmed up some.

I do not know why my fiancé loves his place as much as he does. I'm sure if he were to write this review he would give Old Venice 5 stars, but since I am writing it- 2 stars. I have tried to get into it but each time its just bleh for me. I guess I like that if you spend a certain amount you get a bottle of wine for $6??? And the atmosphere is pretty ok. Its nice for a casual date night. But who chose the background music? Its so out of place lol. But it makes it fun I guess.... sipping on those healthy glasses of $6 wine and listening to 90's alternative rock and R&B. I for the life of me could not remember the name of Mark Mcgraths band (Sugar Ray btw). I did not finish most of my food there, but I will admit it was 3 times better the next day. But most Italian is.

I was shocked to see the mediocre reviews of Old Venice. I love it there. The food is always consistently good. I ate there again tonight. The complimentary bread was fresh and wonderful. The service is great and the food is excellent. I like the pasta with lobster and crab. My daughter and husband love the fettuccini. They are usually busy, yet not so busy that I've ever had to wait for a table. And don't get me started on $5 wine bottle Saturday. That's a wonderful deal for great wine with dinner. And I can take the bottle home. Yummy!

There is something to be said for location because that seems to be the only reason I ever come here. I'm constantly annoyed by how expensive the drinks are ($10 for a prosecco split?! Are you kidding me? Other places it is $5) and how uninteresting the food is. The fried cheese literally tastes like the ones you buy from the freezer section and so does everything else you order. Therefore, I hardly ever eat here...this is strictly a drinking spot for me and my friends even though they are "known" for their pizza. That being said, it is right by my house...you can get a high table by the bar 90% of the time...they stay open late all week...and one of my favorite bartenders works there. Therefore, they get 3 stars. I just wish I didn't want to scream every time I look at my bar tab. Definitely not a cheap drinking spot, but a safe bet.

Okay, okay... I said that I would not be back after the last debacle with attempted take out and the ordering snafu that occurred with said attempt. Notwithstanding this fact, I gave this place another chance, and they have at least redeemed themselves in the take out ordering department. Staff was overly courteous and very helpful. Food is still good, but not great. With that said, however, the food is definitely on the better side of what you would normally consider average. This is a good place to grab drinks and a quick bite although it is definitely not gourmet or "fancy." All in all, this place is a solid choice, but do not expect to be overwhelmed by the taste or quality of the food.

I wish I could add a half star! This is a solid 3.5 overall. The complimentary cheesy bread and olive oil with herbs is delicious. The walnut chicken salad with blush vinegarette, craisins, roasted red peppers and goat cheese is AMAZING! There was a large portion of sliced grilled chicken both times I visited. The pIzza was ok... Disclosure: I am a HARD grader on pizza. Spaghetti and meatballs featured perfectly cooked noodles and a generous portion of sauce and big meatballs. I'll definitely go back for that bread and salad though! (It's hard to make me eat salad these days without miserably choking it down. Haha) plenty of parking in the back. They also have happy hour specials and brunch, which I haven't tried yet. I've only gone there for dinner and lunch during the week, so not sure what the crowd/wait time looks like. Restaurant looked kid-friendly as well.

OK Old Venice, enough is enough. 2nd time in a row I've eaten here & the "complimentary" bread is not offered to our group. I assumed, as it was on just about everyone else's table, it was still complimentary? Why yes it is, but, evidently, you must ask for it. So, when our salads were delivered to our party of 6 on 1/5/15, we asked... "Sure, I'll bring you some". Why thank you Mallory. But alas, several minutes later, still no bread, our entrees arrived. So, I guess it's complimentary, but you have to ask for it, hope you get it, maybe not, maybe. Ridiculous. What a joke of a policy. Last time I'll visit.

For a place that has the word "pizza" in their name, you expect them to get one thing right...take a guess...Pizza. The verdict? Eh, it's ok. I've had the Margarita pizza in the past, have done a build-your-own, and this time I tried the crawfish with Cajun seasoning. I was expecting it to be flavorful, but instead it just tasted like pizza with some stuff on it (didn't taste any crawfish seasoning). You know that feeling when you're like "OMG, I'm totally craving pizza" and then you eat it and you're like "Yes, this was EXACTLY what I wanted!". I never walk out of here with that feeling, but I also never walk out of there saying "man, that was terrible". One big bonus is that their side salads are a good portion and they are cheap! Adding a protein on top is pricey, but their salads are always fresh. If you're looking for a place with a lively atmosphere that is clean and has a decent drink menu, I would go here. If one of you wants pizza and the others want to eat just regular food, I would go here (the menu is pretty extensive with non-pizza food items). If you're looking for "I'm craving pizza" food, there are better places to go in Memphis.

Just stopped here for drinks and an app pre-birthday celebration and I have to say they have one of the best spinach and artichoke dips I have ever had! It comes out steaming hot, (more cheese than veggies - WIN!) And served with crostini's instead of that dumb pita bread, or chips you usually get stuck with. We also had come champagne splits at $10 bucks that were great. The service here is friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere looks like a typical Italian chain. We sat at the bar ate, drank, and had a blast!

We absolutely LOVE this place. I recommend the Daddy Crawdaddy pizza, Cajun pasta, and the appetizer sampler. Everything on their menu is delicious! We love to go on Wednesday nights because it is half off on bottle of wines, plus half off on pizzas! It's a great deal. We do take out a lot, but if you want a great place to watch a game, too, sit in the bar area! :)

One word to describe the meal I had here- "Delicious". I had the rasta pasta which is a penne pasta dish with grilled chicken, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, onions and topped with a caribbean jerk cream pasta. I added shrimp which doesn't typically come with the original pasta dish. The service was good and would recommend this place for lunch and their brunch.

This is a great restaurant and one of my favorites for good pizza. Although customer service isn't what it use to be with some of the servers, I still give it 4 stars for their effort and the good pizza and bread. This visit started a little rocky as our server stated they were out of the bread they normally serve. The manager even confirmed it but we were later brought some bread. My last visit I was charged a to-go fee when I asked for my dessert to go. Unfortunately I had management take the dessert and fee off my ticket after the male manager refused to take the fee off of my bill.

Not great but not bad. Greeted and seated quickly on Sunday evening, not crowed. Server was friendly and efficient. Salad average, both pasta dishes we ordered were tasty, portions are large, spinach side freshly prepared, bread seems like pizza dough. Not a must go to but would eat there again as it is in the neighborhood.

This was our second time to this place. Our first visit we got there at a decent time for dinner and shared some wine and flatbreads. The food is alright nothing to fan girl over. The wine is probably their most prized possession. They range from house wine which is only $5.00 to a $90.00 bottle. The best thing is that their house wine is 50% off on Wednesday nights. So we went last Wednesday and our service wasn't amazing. We got there at9 and they closed at 10:00 so we had a good hour to spend some quality time with each other. We had two glasses of wine each which only came out to like $16.00. The restaurant only had an hour left so I think the waiters were more focused on cleaning up the floors and tables than actually waiting on us. It seemed like we were being rushed out a little bit... I just expect a waiter to engage and have with you and really give that good quality service.

My friend asked me where I want to go to eat for a quick bite before the movie for my birthday.. So I chose old Venice because it's close to where we work.. I was scared there will be a long wait so I was surprised when they seat us right away.. The service was awesome.. I ordered the lasagna and my friends ordered pasta.. Their foods came out first so the waitress said the manager took the lasagna of the check; which is really nice but really unnecessary because the lasagna came out literally like 2 minutes later. The waitress was very sincere about me getting my foods later than my friends which made me feel really bad because I don't really mind. The foods and services were good as always.. I'm really glad I chose old Venice; made my rough day a lot better.

Old Venice is one of my favorite places for girl's night in Memphis, especially on Wednesdays. You can't beat half price wine and pizza. Although, it's worth it to skip the 1/2 price one-topping deal and go for the Banscueccio specialty pizza. Cream cheese, jalapenos and chicken? To die for.

What a great place! I visited Old Venice Pizza Company for the first time last week. 5 thing I love about this place... 1. The location, East Memphis right off Perkins, it's convenient for many areas 2. The Saturday wine special, $6.99 a bottle 3. The decor/scenery. The bar is trendy and the dining area is cozy. 4. The food. Everything I tried was amazing. The bread that comes with the meal, the flat bread appetizer, and the manicotti. 5. The price. The food is all very reasonably priced, especially for the quality. Check it out, it's a great find.

Love Old Venice! I've never had a bad experience like some of the other reviewers. We come here pretty frequently on the weekends and have always enjoyed ourselves. I love the pizza, but my favorite has to be the vegetable flatbread appetizer. It's to die for. There's a mixture of squash, zucchini, portabellas, red and green pepper and goat and ricotta cheese. If that isn't good enough, they drizzle a balsamic glaze on top. It's stupid good. I can't go here without ordering one and I always have a hard time sharing. I've also tried a few of the pastas and they aren't to be missed either. Give this place a try!

I went here the other night with a friend. I'd been telling people about this place and encouraging them to go. They really made me wish I'd kept my mouth shut. I will note that it was half-price wine Wednesday, so they were really busy, but that's not an excuse for this experience in my book. First, parking is extremely limited when they're busy, so we had to park across the street. This isn't a huge deal, but considering the rest of the experience, it was the horrible cherry on top of an already awful sundae. When we walked in, the bar was standing room only so I asked the hostesses if they had happy hour and specials in the whole restaurant or just in the bar. She told me it was everywhere so they sat us in the dining room. My friend and I sat down and waited while we watched the servers check on and server everyone around us. Finally, when I was about to leave, this guy came over and helped us. I've already commented in a past review on their food, and the food was fine, but the service was awful. He informed us that happy hour was only in the bar. We stayed anyway. After my first glass, I ordered one of their more expensive bottles of wine instead of opting for the half price wine. He either had no idea how to open a bottle without destroying the cork, or didn't care enough to try. He just threw the busted cork on the table and walked away. I even had to ask for a fresh glass so he didn't just pour the wine in with the half-price wine. The whole night it felt like he just didn't care as much about our table as much as the other tables, and was trying to push us out the door. I HATE to say it because I can't stand it when people play this card, but it felt like the bad service was because my friend was the only African-American person in the restaurant. Will I go back? Maybe. If I do go back, it will only be because I have had some other decent experiences, and I WILL NOT sit in the dining room.

So I don't really get the bad reviews...I'm not saying Old Venice is authentic italian by any stretch of the imagination but it has a varitey of offerings. I'm a big fan of their pizzas...the individual pizza maybe too much for me to finish on my own in one sitting but it tastes great leftover. One I had recently was the Banscueccio--strange, unpronouncable name, but very tasty. It's a chicken pizza made with cream cheese and mozarrella so it's super creamy and they add red onions and jalapenos, with a swirl of tomato sauce--all those flavors together just work! They also have "make your own" option if you prefer to style a pizza yourself. They have house wines on the list--and if they're running a special you can get a glass for just $3. Try to come during happy hour to make the most of it.

The pizza is great, i cant peak for much else because that's all we ordered but it came out fast- all the ingredients were fresh, and it wasn't overdone to the point you cant make out the individual flavors as pizza often is. Server was quick and the 2 for one draws was a great deal. The only negative is the Italian sausage on one of our pizzas was a bit overpowering on the slices that had more than their fair share of the topping, some people may not mind it but for me personally the seasoning in it was too heavy to balance with the other ingredients. That said, we will definitely be back!

Italian food at it's greatest! My main reason for liking Old Venice is because their menu is not the plain boring spaghetti meatball italian spot. At Old Venice they offer gourmet pizzas with all sorts of toppings my favorite is the ban schwazio it has fresh toppings with lots of flavor! Also, they offer this great cajun pasta called the rasta pasta that is absolutely delicious! If you are an appetizer person like me then order the flatbreads! The flatbreads have the freshest taste and are not all that fattening. Wine Wednesdays are great as well here they have half priced wine. I will definitely be back to Old Venice for more! Ciao!

I'm married to an Italian, so this is about the only Italian place he willingly goes. We don't eat Italian out much as he cooks it so well himself . . . but, when we are in the area, we tend to go to Old Venice because it's pretty consistant. Things have changed over time, though . . . They used to give you a big loaf of bread, or at least some big rolls with butter, etc., but now, it's pizza crust with herbs sprinkled on it. Ok, even a fast food joint can do this! What happened to your Calzones??? That was the ONE thing I could get here that was special, but no longer on the menu! You serve Lobster Egg Rolls . . . since when is this Italian??? So, I'm assuming these are frozen and you fry them up and sell them 1 at a time which makes you a TON of profit. I feel SO USED! The fried Mozzarella sticks were cooked WAY TOO HOT - they were almost burned on the outside, but not all the way melted on the inside. This is something SONIC does to their Cheddar Peppers and I can expect this for a $3 appetizer, but not in an indoor seating restaurant! Turn the heat down and cook them 1 minute longer! Really? You haven't discovered this yet? My daughters liked their meals, and my pizza was alright, thus the 3rd star. Seems like this size and type of restaurant would have some hand-made items and boast about it.

First time going and the experience was definitely not a good one. had to ask the server twice (the only two times she even came to the table, by the way) for more water. Food wasn't super great, but wasn't terrible. One good thing I can say is that even though it was pretty packed, our food was brought out quickly, which was nice. The one thing I really disliked was the fact that 18% gratuity was added to my bill (there were only 6 of us). We thought this was a mistake so we asked to speak to the manager and she told us that since we didn't pay on one check (I paid for myself, while the others were on one ticket) that they automatically add the gratuity. We were confused by this and clarified by asking if two people sit at one table and each pay for themselves, they will automatically be paying 18% gratuity. She said yes. We said we were unaware of this and that it really didn't make sense and all she said was "well it says this on the menu." I have never dealt with such an unsympathetic manager. I guess it was our fault for not noticing this sooner, but the fact that the manager was somewhat rude about it and made us feel like we were complete morons for not knowing this, made the situation ten times worse. So just a heads up, unless you pay on one ticket, you will be paying a gratuity despite how good or bad the service was (in our case, it was bad and the server did not deserve the tip she automatically received). And don't expect any sympathy from the manager if you do have any problems.

I don't get the bad reviews. I've been here multiple times, probably tried every pizza there is, and I am never disappointed. The are good-sized (I always have a couple slices left-over) and fresh. Not "freezer sectioned", IMO. Their service is mediocre, but it's not horrible. Not sure if their drinks are overpriced or whatever, but their "wine-down Wednesdays" are a pretty good deal. I also noticed they have a drink specials stand on their tables, so there's obviously cheaper drinks. Also have had their pastas, really good. Most have a spicy twist to them. Overall it's a great value and I would recommend to anyone.

Everything was excellent! The trio appetizer (lobster cheese eggrolls, mozzarella sticks, and shrimp) was perfect. The cheese was very, very fresh. The gorgonzola pear salad was excellent. The pizza was fantastic and I am from Chicago and usually do not like NY style pizza. The freshest ingredients had to be used for everything including the caramel cheesecake. A wonderful dinner! We will ne back!!

I heard high praise of Old Venice for their pizza and was looking forward to trying it for dinner tonight. We were both pretty hungry, so we ordered more food then we normally would. We first started out with a couple of salads. I got the greek salad. It was unimpressive. It was too heavily bathed in it's oil dressing. We also ordered the hot spinach and artichoke dip. This wasn't very good in my opinion either. It wasn't horrible, but not very good. We then decided to split the margherita pizza. This was a bad choice. The sauce wasn't good, the cheese was weak, the tomatoes were flavorless, and the little basil they put on the pizza was wilted. Also service was slow and unattentive. These guys aren't getting a second chance.

Not a good place to go if you intend to talk with people in your party. It is SO LOUD you may have a really hard time hearing anybody. Now I know why the waitress was shouting at me--she's deaf from her job. OSHA! The entree was really disappointing. I chose Veal picatta over angel hair pasta. The veal was basically like 3 day old cold fish sticks. Yuk! Sorry. Hate to have to write such a bad review but aye!

The food is fine, nothing special. The problem is the 18% gratuity that they automatically charge parties of TWO or more if they have seperate checks. You see, having to provide two seperate receipts is soooo inconvenient that they deserve something for their trouble. It's okay if the service is slow, food cold, you get the wrong order because we are going to make tips mandatory as your punishment for making the mistake of giving us your business.

I'd say most of this is pretty standard stuff, and I was a little disappointed when they didn't have all the calzones on the menu that they have at the Oxford location. But never fear, because that led me to the discovery of one of my all-time favorite dishes: the Roasted Veggie pizza, which I have dreams about. I have to eat one of these at least once a month. I am not usually an order-the-same-thing-every-time kinda girl, but I would never even CONSIDER ordering something other than this pizza. Let me tell you about it. You should definitely get your pizza thin crust so that the veggies really make an impact--it is topped with zucchini, squash, red peppers, green peppers, and portobello mushrooms (of course I leave the mushrooms off because mushrooms are stupid). Instead of marinara sauce there is pesto. GENIUS, I declare. Also, the best part? A balsamic reduction sauce that is sweet and tangy and absolutely perfect on this pizza. Another standout on the menu is their spinach artichoke dip--the dip itself is covered in cheese and then baked golden brown, and it's served with triangles of buttery flatbread goodness. YUM. The dip is very filling though so be forewarned.

Brunch is excellent value. Dinner menu is diverse and well prepared and its close to the 'hood. Not a gourmet experience but good place for comfort food, Itlaian style. But it's SO LOUD!!! Hard floors, hard walls. Had to shout at waitress to be understood.

I went to Old Venice with a group of girlfriends on Wine Wednesday (half off house wine). We were seated promptly. The food was good, but it wasn't mindblowing. I ordered an individual thin crust pizza with feta, spinach, artichokes and mushrooms. Others at the table ordered either pasta or an individual pizza, and they seemed to like what they got, too. The biggest issue was that our waitress rushed us through dinner. We sat down at 7:30, she immediately got our drink orders, then very hastily took our dinner orders. When we were halfway through dinner, she asked us if we wanted dessert. When we said no, she closed us out even though a couple of us wanted another glass of wine. She clearly was trying to get us out of there so that she could leave. I might understand if it was late, but it was only 8:30ish.

Seems like a standard chain restaurant. Pizza was good but not outstanding. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken and it was alright. Everything would have tasted better if it was cheaper. The free bread was pretty great.
