Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Last Saturday night my husband, daughter and I celebrated my birthday. I was happy with the staff that they respected my wishes and didn't have them put desert on my face, like they do at some restaurants. Food was hot fast and yummy.

I just finished my second and last meal here. The food is good but the service leaves much to be desired. The white board said half off drafts and regular margaritas. I ordered a jumbo margarita for my wife and I and was charged full price. I asked why and they said the half off offer was good for only the small size. The menu clearly separates the regular and top shelf tequila margaritas. Upon bringing this to their attention all they wanted to do is argue. Does it make sense to discount sizes of margaritas? If that was the case I would have ordered two smalls. I am glad I have two choices for Mexican in fairview. I know where I am going next time.

I've been coming here for years, and even after the opening of the newer Dos Margaritas, I still always come back to La Plaza. The food is all decent, well-prepared Mexican fare, though I am not a fan of the red sauce, as it reminds me of Campbell's Tomato soup. However, most everything on the menu (and it's extensive) I have tried has been very good, with the menu getting updates and overhauls every so often. . There has been quite a bit of upgrading to the restaurant over the past couple years. The outside patio is great, though I avoid it like the plague on Friday nights due to the very loud, very drunken crowds. The interior has been upgraded and is very nice, from the beautiful though small bar seating to the brand new high-backed booths, which help tremendously in cutting down on noise and allowing for a bit more dining privacy. My main complaint, though, is that rarely is everyone's meal brought out at the same time. If I go with a party of 4, it's inevitable that one or two people get their plates WELL in advance of the others, which is truly unfortunate. With larger groups this is even more of an issue, though most often I dine either alone or with one companion. They have a nice selection of vegetarian options (though it would be delightful if they could get fresh spinach as an option) and the Chiles Toreados are cheap and plentiful, and add a nice spice to the meal. The drinks are, or course, the bomb. Margaritas are great, as is the Michelade, a spicy iced beer. However, I did once try to order a glass of their house red, and it was served very well chilled, which is a big no-no for reds, whose flavor really should be enjoyed at room temperature. So, lesson learned, I leave the wine to the restaurants more geared towards it, and when I'm in the mood to drink, I stick with the always lovely margaritas or brews. All in all, a nice place to get decent Mexican fare, served in a very timely manner by very friendly employees. Make no mistake, it's the staff at La Plaza that keeps me coming back every week.

When I lived in Fairview for 14 months in 98'-'99' this joint was the only saving grace of the whole experience. Don't get me wrong, the food is nothing special, but it sure did taste good on a Sunday afternoon with a few margaritas. . But God, this was the only place within 10-20 miles that you could get a damn drink. So, needless to say, I spent a good on amount on dinners out there. They had good chips when fresh, salsa not bad if you ask for the extra hot stuff to add. Typical Ameri-Mex. Thanks guys for saving me from having to eat at the Country Cafe all the time. And for all that tequila. Back home in Atlanta now. Ahh..the choices.

There are better options. When this restaurant opened it was the only Mexican place in Fairview, and at the time it was actually pretty good. However, over time it seems that the quality of the food and even the portion sizes have suffered. The building itself is not bad, actually they have made many improvements over time... However I wonder if the money they have poured into the building would have been better served being spent on the food itself. The salsa isn't bad, but the chips tend to be a little too hard. The red sauce has a very 'canned' feel to it. With all that said, I think the newer Dos Margaritas restaurant is the better option in fairview. Just my opinion.

I have reviewed this restaurant before and gave it 5 stars but in the last few months it has went down hill fast! It seems that management has changed and the new people do not care about their customers experience, In the past the manager always came to the table to make sure everything was okay and now the manager does not even say thank you when you pay at the register. The one thing that they have that the other Mexican restaurant in town doesn't is a drive thru window so that you don't have to go in to get your order. Well, I placed a to go order last night and when I arrived to pick it up they had a sign on the drive thru saying it was closed and to come in. This may have been my last visit to La Plaza. it was a Friday night and the restaurant was NOT busy at all and you cannot man the drive thru window, Meaning I had to get the baby out and go in to get a to go order. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE here. This restaurant is not going to make it if they don't make some management changes. I did notice that Quirino the former manager is working as a server again. They need to make him manager again and maybe he can get you back to the Favorite Restaurant in Fairview as he did in 2012! Sad because this was my favorite restaurant in town at one time. I have went from eating here about 3 times a week to maybe 3 times a month!

This place is hit or miss. Usually if I eat in the food is pretty good. I did get a taco salad as a carry out and they totally screwed me! I had a baby that I had to lug out of the car and went in to pick up my lunch. I got a mushy, runny taco salad, no napkins, and no forks or knives! I did the best I could to eat it with the chips provided because it wasn't worth going back. The other times I have eaten in, I have gotten good service and better than average Mexican food. So there is good and bad.

This is your standard Mexican style restaurant. Nothing unique about the food or the atmosphere. 90% of the Mexican restaurants that I have been to have nearly the same menu and taste nearly identical. However, it's a safe bet if that's what you like. There aren't many options in Fairview, but a new Mexican restaurant just opened down the street. It's much cleaner and the staff speaks better English. If I had to choose, I'd go there instead.

Trying Tex Mex outside of Texas is often a crap shoot. This place in good ol' Fairview is no different. The location is in the old Hardee's spot (first restaurant in Fairview yeeeahaaawww) and they've added on a patio area which was closed in and they had some heat lamps up so it was pretty nice in there. Hey, an outdoor patio in Fairview (perhaps the ONLY one!)! The salsa was pretty good and spicy. The chips...eh...more salt needed and the second batch had some that were kind of charred. I had Tacos Al Carbon and the chicken and taco were just alright, nothing really special. My dad got the combo plate which pretty much included one of everything. He thought most of it was pretty good except for the chili relleno, so take that for what you will. My brother also said his was ok but his salsa on top of his enchiladas tasted more like marinara than salsa....eww! Anyway, right now this would totally be a 2 or 2.5 stars based on the food alone. But I decided to knock it up to 3 because it is the only place in Fairview I know that can serve drinks and my rum and diet was strong strong strong. I remember when the Hardee's opened my senior year of high school and it was the biggest day in history. Now I know it is actually the day this place opened and started serving liquor that was the best day ever! hehe
