While traveling for business we decided to dine here. The restaurant adjoins a showroom for a local vineyard. It has nice ambiance and the staff was attentive. The waitress recommended a wine which was excellent. I ordered the ribeye medium rare. The dish comes with two sides and soup or salad. I requested onion rings rather than the sides. The waitress had to check if this was allowed. It was not and I ended up ordering the onion rings as an app. I'd have to say they ended up being the highlight of the meal. I love ribeye steak. A perfect ribeye is well marbled and juicy. The steak here had such little marbling that I honestly think it was a sirloin cut. It was cooked medium rather than medium rare, which isn't a huge deal. The steak was of average thickness. I prefer a thicker cut but that's getting into crazy pickiness territory. The biggest downside to the steak was the crisscross charing the chef employed. It left a burnt taste that overpowered any flavor. I actually prefer some high heat applied to a well marbled steak. However when the meat isn't marbled it just doesn't work. Each bite left me wanting steak sauce. Which I refuse on principle : ). This restaurant is decent enough for the area. We dined on a Monday which can be a tough night for an establishment. My cohorts enjoyed their seafood. The salads were fresh and the blue cheese was quality.

Came on a Wednesday our family was the only family in the whole place. We thought the apps were decent but how hard is it to make cheese sticks. The steak was the worst filet I have ever put in my mouth. Worst place in cville! If you want a good family dinner stay away! Also way to much money omg

When you search for "steak" in Crossville, TN, Cracker Barrel shows up in the results. Okay, so that's in inauspicious start. Went with a group of 8 guys on a golfing trip and had to find the finest restaurant around and this was it. Which isn't saying a whole lot. The people were nice, the apps were good, and the steak was decent. Which is exactly why it gets 3 stars in my book. It's probably the best place to get steak and seafood in the area. You just won't find 4 or 5 star establishments, so put the rating in perspective. A meal like this in Cincinnati or Louisville would have cost double. My steak was overdone, but everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs. If I had to do it again, I would pick this place again most likely...or I'd choose to drive back to Knoxville.

They show being open until 9:00 - arrived at 8:07 and was turned away - kitchen closed - looked nice but smelled like stale garlic

Had a great dinner here during our stay in the Crossville area. Service was excellent as were the prices. My wife had the Chicken Wellington and I had their signature pork chop offering. Both dishes were superb. We split the French onion soup, which was outstanding. The decor was pleasant, with music playing lightly in the background. Too full for their homemade desserts, unfortunately! Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

This is a decent little restaurant located right next to a small little winery. The food is really good. The price wasn't too bad either. The servers were attentive and knowledgable about the menu. We went during lunch and although they didn't have a very large selection. (About 8-10 items), they do those items very well. The food came quickly and was fresh and tasty. We enjoyed eating here and if we're every back in Crossville we'll eat here again. They deserve a 4 1/2 but it doesn't allow this. The burger was char grilled. The fries were hot and crispy. My wife had the chicken tender flatbread and it was excellent. If you're in Crossville and looking for a very good place to eat that's not fast food, give this place a try. You won't regret it.

Atmosphere was decent. Service was quick and friendly. Food was tasty but not what one would expect from "Casual Fine Dining " as their sign suggests. An enjoyable, good meal none the less.

We did not eat here, but stopped in at the lounge after dinner. Larry, the bartender, was very nice and helpful. I liked the decor, though the lights were a bit bright for a bar area. Sitting at the bar was - for the most part - relaxing. There was a group sitting next to us eating, and the food looked and smelled great. Unfortunately, they were also having a sales presentation during that same time - in the bar area! They had a table grouping set up and they were watching a very loud video on what can happen if you have a fire in your home. The participants watched the video, which lasted several minutes, and then the salesman demonstrated a fire alarm to show how loud it is! Not very relaxing! So although we wanted to sit a while longer, we finished our wine and left. I suggest calling to see if there are any presentations going on before you go. I would really love to give it another try if we are back in Crossville in the future - but last night wasn't what I wanted.

We celebrated my parents 50th anniversary at Brass Lantern. The restaurant is in the same building as Chestnut Winery right off I-40 at Exit 322. They are under new management and the place was terrific. The server was great and they easily exceeded our expectations. We had fried mushrooms, crab stuffed portabella mushrooms, and mozzarella sticks that were all delicious. For dinner we ordered Mahi Mahi, ribeyes, filets, and the sour mash pork chops. All the meats and the fish were good size portions and had excellent taste. My only dig is that a few of our steaks/filets were either under or over cooked by a bit. Not enough to ruin the meal or require us to send them back, but I have to note it here. It could have been that the server entered the temps wrong as well. The pork chops were spectacular with just enough sauce yet not so much that it overwhelms the taste of the meat. The Mahi was delicious as was the crab meat stuffing. The baked potatoes were very good and the red smashed potatoes were a stand out. In the end, this is a definite must eat while in the area. The management was super friendly and accommodating and as noted by others the bartenders have a nice, heavy hand!

Dinner was great, best part was talking it up with owner and proprietor Denise and James. Very friendly family atmosphere, free pour drinks and solid food at a fair price. This is my new go to in cross Vegas TN. Try it out you won't be upset.

There's not a whole lot in the way of good restaurants around Crossville and Fairfield Glade, so I was pleased to see this new place in town. We booked a reservation and headed over here to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is a nicely decorated, white tablecloth sort of establishment. The waitstaff are neatly dressed, very attentive, and polite. The water glasses were always kept topped off and the alcoholic beverages never went empty before we were asked if we wanted another. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp and these shrimp were nearly filled to the bursting point with crabcakes. The crab stuffing had a lot of crabmeat in it as well. The shrimp were cooked to just the right temperature and were absolutely delicious. The meal comes with a small side salad (served first), which was quite good as salads go. You also get steamed vegetables and a choice of a baked potato or rice. While my baked potato was hot and well cooked, the presentation (in it's foil wrapper) left something to be desired. The only toppings for your baked potato are butter and sour cream, so next time I would try the rice. On to dessert! All of their desserts are made in-house and the two that we ordered were amazing! We had the German Chocolate Cake and the White-Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake. I must admit, I definitely enjoyed the German Chocolate Cake more, but I would have been happy with either one on its own. Both were rich and quite delicious. The frosting on the German Chocolate cake was very creamy. Just thinking about it makes me want some right now. If you are looking for a little bit of fine-dining in this rural community, I would highly suggest checking out The Brass Lantern. The service is excellent and the food is superb. My compliments to the entire staff for coming together to provide this fine dining experience.

Rude people, bad service, semi-decent meal. We went in knowing that we weren't getting a gourmet meal. We were simply looking for a semi decent place to have an enjoyable meal and visit. Food was okay - not nearly worth the price but the service was awful. They were rude. Bad enough to ruin an evening. Be warned that they will try and push you out of the restaurant because they close at 8:00 - even if you don't get your food until 8:30. Never have I experienced such behavior - from the server to the owner.

Nestled in the safety of the Chestnut Winery off of 40 through Crossville, is The Brass Lantern. Upon entering I was a bit nervous at the sight of two wax figures, one a butler, the second, a house maid - wax figures are like killer clowns to me( not loving it), however, the hostess quickly turned that sour feeling into a delicious smile. The ambiance was reminiscent of the exquisite dining area in La Pasada located in Santa Fe, off of Palace - comforting and jazzy. The wait staff was a perfect blend of welcoming and professional. While the entree of Maui Maui was tender and juicy, the Taramisu lacked the rich expresso taste and the lady fingers were a bit too dry. I enjoyed two glasses of Smoking Loon, which is average in a common list of wine, I would've liked to sample their personal selection, but it wasn't featured at all in the wine list. Bummer. The booth style seating was done with class and the maple finish chairs surrounding the white clothed tables set a dramatic hue to the Winery's choice of atmosphere - bravo. Overall, this place made me feel like I was anywhere but Crossville, where growing up we had two big choices of home-cooked and Taco Bell. Decisions? None, home-cooked always wins. I will definitely revisit and possibly make this my new favorite local. Think they'd let me make the Taramisu from now on?
