The food was pretty good and the price was par for the quality. Unfortunately I discovered that, unless you call ahead, one can't expect a quick takeout meal. I did come in around 5pm, so it was obviously not the best time. After about a 30 minute wait I felt that I wasn't too high up in precedence, although I was waiting onsite. No complaints other than that, really. I certainly would recommend calling ahead for any orders - dine-in or takeout.

This little gem of a Chinese restaurant is a must! It has been nestled in the shopping center where Sonic is located for over 20 years. The food is always served fresh and pipping hot by the super-friendly Ling. She remembers everyone's names and what they like and brings your drinks right to the table when she sees you enter. The spring rolls are the best I have had in Memphis and I have been told the egg rolls are to die for! The beef with broccoli is my favorite and comes with plenty of fresh veggies and tender beef.

Great food, painful service. We checked out this place at 5:15 on a Wed evening based on Yelp reviews...it was a little hole in the wall in a strip mall in Cordova. It was about half full. The menu was promising...a lot of classic Cantonese dishes on the "Chinese" menu...we placed our order and waited...and waited...and waited. OMG...it was 40 minutes from the time we placed our order til the time our soup first showed up. Thank goodness it was worth the wait...we couldn't really be mad at our server...she was very nice and had to cover the entire dining room and all takeout orders...boy what a business. There must have been 12 takeout orders that came in and out before we got our food. What was interesting was that it seemed the kitchen makes everything to order one table at a time...so inefficient but the food was great. Even the soup, a nice version of seafood tofu soup, tasted made to order with a generous amount of seafood freshly poached so it was not overdone, and tender strands of egg. The beef with chinese greens (gai lan) was perfectly done...the chinese broccoli was tender and crispy and the beef nicely done. Peking pork was nice and fatty, and most importantly not overdone giving a great flavor with the sweet and sour sauce. Scallops with black bean sauce were, perhaps, coated a bit too generously with rice flour, but were cooked to tender perfection and were quite addictive. The only fail for the evening was the pan-fried noodles with chicken...an uninspired pile of under seasoned chow mein noodles, bland chicken, and limp veggies. Lots of reviewers have compared this place to New Asia, and one even speculated the chef came over from New Asia...I can believe it. I much prefer this place to New Asis...for one, I am sick of the sour manager at New Asia...mostly, the quality of the food has really gone down at New Asia. This place is cheaper, friendlier, and tastier. If only they could serve you better.

I am a vegetarian (have tasted chicken though) and it is often difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant serving good vegetarian food. Fulin is one of those places where I enjoyed eating their Vegetable fried rice, chow mein and hot-n-sour soup. The portions are really big and it is very cheap. You can eat a LOT in less than $15. Its worth a try for vegetarian folks.

My bf took me here while we were in Memphis since this was his favorite Chinese place. We ordered the Young Chow Fried Rice, which was absolutely delicious with the spicy tofu with ground pork. The pan fried noodles were pretty good too. I love the crunchy texture, although it tasted kind of bland without sauce. I enjoyed the other dishes, but those were my favorite. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in town.

Found this place via Yelp and I was pretty excited! I love trying new Chinese take out places. This place is situated behind the Wells Fargo bank near Sonic near the bowling alley in Cordova. The customer service here is super friendly which is what saved the review. I ordered over the phone and the female that took my order was very polite! I ordered my usual staple of General Tso's chicken "Extra Spicy" and she told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived to find a nice seating area with a pretty bland decor. It sort of reminded of that Chinese restaurant from "A Christmas Story"...Sing it with me..."FA RAH RAH RAH!!!!" Anyway...I sat down to eat and opened my dish to see a rather grayish looking dish with green peppers and onions. I thought to myself, "Maybe this is 'more' authentic?!" It didn't taste "bad" per se but it definitely wasn't spicy like I asked. I don't know if by extra spicy they thought adding extra green peppers would do it but as any spice nut would know, green peppers ain't cutting it. So the service got 5 stars but food was two stars at best. Passable. I walked out feeling, "meh". Maybe I'm used to MSG pulsing through Chinese. I'd say try it and form your own opinion but I won't be back. Sorry, FuLin!

Best Chinese in Memphis in my opinion! Be ready for a long wait but, boy, is it worth it! The place had a steady stream of takeout customers and the tables were full. There was just one server but she was so so nice I felt sorry for her she was overly busy! They have American and Chinese menu available. We had the seafood with bean curd soup which was nicely flavored with fresh seafood and served piping hot. The vegetables of Chinese broccoli and carrots were not soggy and the squid and shrimp were poached just tender just right. Even our toddler lapped it up it was so so tasty without being too salty. Our main dishes were chicken lo mien, Chinese broccoli with beef, and scallops with black bean sauce. I'm anxious to come back and try a variety of other choices on their huge menus. Note bathrooms are not clean and you will wait a long time for your food but it is WORTH it!

The food was actually very good. But when reviews say service was slow, they weren't kidding. When all was said and done, it took over an hour to get our food and eat it. Chinese restaurants are never that slow. The problem seems to be that they will prioritize take-out orders before they cook eat-in orders. I saw people order after me and then get their take-out food before I got my food. So while the food was really good, I'm not going back.

The food was ok, no bad but it was not excellent. I went to this place on 4th of July, they were pretty busy and they only had one server. She was nice but it took her forever to take our order and to bring our drinks. The wait for our food was very long and we were so hungry that it seemed like an eternity. After hearing about this place from a few Asian church moms, I knew I just had to try this place. I was told to order "surprise," and they weren't lying! It's wonderful to find a place that the chef loves to cook, or at least this is how I feel when I'm eating here. The surprise is essentially something authentic that the chef loves to make. And today it's a true authentic pork, taro, and cabbage dish. It's actually nearly exactly what I would get overseas; the pork would be cooked longer if overseas. Supposedly, don't order more than two surprises because he doesn't have that much ingredients for authentic stuff. I also had their cold onion and ginger chicken, mushu pork, stuffed eggplaints, and beef ribs with vegetables. All of those are fantastic and authentic. Looks like we have a top competitor to New Asia. In fact, I would say Fulin might be better now based on these dishes, but I would need to come back a second time to test consistency before I can just hand the crown over! I love competition! I also saw Beef Noodles on the table next to mine... I know what I'm having next! P.S. By authentic, I don't mean you order General Tso's chicken and expect it to be authentic. You order the authentic items in the menu. If you need help, ask the waiter; he's cool. General Tso's is like the fortune cookie. You don't ask for an authentic fortune cookie!

I generously gave Fulin 4 stars last time mainly due to their reasonably priced lunch specials, but I have grown somewhat disappointed by the quality of their food. Our soon-to-be-former office is literally across street from Fulin so we have ordered several big takeouts in the past couple months, mostly from the more authentic Chinese menu. They hit the spot sometimes but also had missteps every time: chicken was undercooked, vegetables were overcooked, fish was deep fried instead of pan fried, etc. After our office relocates to another part of town, I see little chance of me ever setting foot here again - it's just not worth driving across town for.

This is probably the best place in Memphis to enjoy an authentic Cantonese cuisine. I recommend placing an order ahead of time or taking out, as dining in can be terribly slow on busy nights. Wait time: If you order for a pick up, the food is made to order & usually takes no longer than 30 or so minutes. If you decide to dine in, it could take 30 minutes to an hour depending on the crowd that night. Atmosphere: This is a small restaurant with only a few tables. Last time I went, they decided not to turn the air on so it was pretty warm. Service: There are usually only 2-3 people working at a time, which undoubtedly contributes to their slowness when dining in. However, if you order for a pick up, they are surprisingly efficient. Food: The food is always hot, fresh, & made to order here. The serving sizes are also sufficient with a fair price range & a variety of Chinese dishes to choose from. Definitely the best authentic Canto food in the area. Overall: 4/5 Definitely a must try if you're in the mood for real Chinese food. I would rate 5 stars, but the dining experience really isn't up to par.

This place is very good for authentic Cantonese cuisine. From what I understand, the cook here is one of the old cooks from Asian Palace and New Asia, which makes sense because the menu is almost an exact rip off. This is not a bad thing though. Prices are a couple of dollars cheaper than New Asia also, but without sacrificing the quality. Everything is pretty good as far as the food goes. I do have one complaint though and that is about the wait time. It's a small operation that needs a lot of help in the kitchen. Wait times for food border on unacceptable if you get there at the wrong time. Come when the doors open or you will be there for more than an hour. In fact, every time I have been there, someone complains about how long they have been waiting for their food. This applies to take out as well. If you order takeout and they tell you "15 minutes," you need to double the time. Seating is limited because the place is small. I'd say 30-40 people max. Service is friendly. Ling is great and so nice.

Yes!! For so long I've been looking for a great Chinese place in Cordova. Little did I know it's been under my nose the whole time I've lived here. The fact that it's been open (and in the same location) at least since I moved here in 1995 is telling - they make good food and the place is clean. First, the egg rolls. They're pretty good, I like their sweet and sour sauce. It's a step up from the generic red sauce most places have. I've tried the sweet and sour chicken which is great, but the real winner I've had is the beef with broccoli. Nice tender beef with broccoli and carrots in a brown sauce. It's awesome.

I love almost any type of Asian cuisine (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese and anything else you can think of). I can't resist the carb-o-liciousness of noodles and rice which are prevalent in these types of food. Fulin restaurant sits just off Germantown Parkway in Cordova, behind a bank and in the same parking lot as a Domino's and a Sonic. While these spots may be easier to see from the road and have national exposure, they don't necessarily offer the best food this parking lot or even the best value. Fulin offers a special lunch menu from which the diner can select one of 24 entree options. The lunch-sized portion is served with fried rice, egg roll, choice of soup and a sugar biscuit (I love sugar biscuits!). These range from $4.95 to $6.50 depending on which entree is selected. I chose the sesame chicken, which comes in at a very reasonable $5.75. Soup choices: Egg drop, Wonton, Hot and Sour and Vegetable. I picked wonton (if you couldn't tell.) It was a pretty standard version. Decent, but nothing special. I've had wonton soup with flavorful broth and tasty wontons, and I've soup with bland broth and tasty wontons. This one represented the latter. I interupted my lunch special with an order of pan-fried dumplings. I pretty much order them at any Asian restaurant if they're available. These were delicious - the wrapper wasn't too thick and the filling was meaty and juicy. This version of sesame chicken had tempura-battered chicken fingers with a sweet and tangy sauce spiked with sesame seeds. The batter on the chicken was super light and and the egg roll was crispy without being heavy or greasy.(Did I mention that I love sugar biscuits?) I'm sure the portion size is larger if you get the full dinner version, but it was more than enough for 2 separate meals. Final Impressions: As I venture out into the Memphis culinary scene, I've noticed more and more that many restaurants (especially those that serve Chinese food) often have two separate menus: the sort of "Americanized" version and the menu that features traditional, authentic dishes. I was impressed with my meal at Fulin. When I return, I'll try to be more adventurous in my selections and choose something a little more authentic.

YEA for good food! Everytime I go in there, I am usually ordering to go. Place is clean, smells good, and service is great. This time I had the sizzling chicken in black pepper sauce.. mmmm... goood. Portion was large, more than enough for two people (I am taking mine for lunch ;) ). Real chicken and plenty of it, with just enough bell peppers and onions to balance and the sauce is just spicy enough to kick. The one reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to the fried dumplings, they tasted ok, but were a little rubbery on fried side and mushy on top. Customers in place also seemed very impressed with their dishes (side note: while waiting for my order I almost fell out of my chair listening to some teens on a date and the boy was asking the girl "Your gonna take that home, right? Because you did order a lot of food." HAHA :0) I highly recommend this place.

Something made me try this place today for the first time, and I'm glad I did! The eggrolls.....ehhhh.....would have been better with my special concoction of duck sauce & hot mustard. Sadly, those things were not provided. Just some sweet & sour sauce in a little container. BUT......my lunch was awesome. Cashew chicken was great - and instead of using mostly water chestnuts (I HATE them!) - they had zuchinni, carrots, & onion for the accompaning veggies. The fried rice was delicious as well..... for $5.25 it was a very filling meal. I'd put it up against a "$5 Footlong" any day.

I had to visit this place twice, and I'll explain why. A few Asian friends mentioned this place to me and told me to just go and ask for specials, what ever they recommend... and when I did that I got orange chicken and beef ribs... and I wouldn't recommend the orange chicken. Go ahead and get the ribs, they're really good, you'll find them on the specials board by the front of the restaurant. So, when I told my friends about this, they insisted I go with them. So I did, and it was great. My first piece of advice, there are 2 menus available, ask for both of them, but spend more time with the "chinese menu" as I call it (don't worry, it has translations for everything). Want something fantastic, authentic, and smelly? Ask for salted fish with eggplant. Want something safe but authentic? Ask for the roasted duck. But no matter what you order, I have to strongly recommend the steamed oysters with black bean sauce, they will speak for themselves. I also really love the house wonton soup for 2, that's my personal recommendation. The most important advice, though, eat everything while it's hot, and eat it quickly. When the food cools it really isn't as good, so eat up, don't waste time with conversation, communicate with grunts, points, and "mmmmmmmmm"s. Enjoy

Okay, I have been going to Fulin for probably a good 4 or 5 times now; from quick carry-out to actual dine-in; surprised me and pleased me every single time I am there!!! I am Chinese, even though I am "somewhat" or say "very"westernized, I have a special and authentic standard and value for Chinese foods. I don't usually go to Chinese restaurants here at all, because in certain way, it kinda totally ruined the reputation of authentic Chinese foods. The only reason why I stopped by at Fulin the very first time was because my friend and I had just finished worked out in Germantown Athletic Club, and he wanted chicken with broccoli. So, on our way home, we went in... What to say... Amazing portion and good quality and light yet healthy flavored dishes!! After the first visit, I was impressed with this tiny little place. So, we went in the 2nd time and ordered their special oyster! WOW!!! I was totally blown away!! It was sooooo delicious and appealing!!!! Not only that, their maybe one and only waitresses, who is an elder Chinese lady, is amazing!!!! Really... She is one of the highlights of our dine-in experience! She is extremely sweet and careful! She noticed my friend and I didn't eat rice the very first time, so she paid attention and carefully excused herself not bringing any rice for us the very next time. Little details!!!She paid close attention of little details and provided us very personable service! So because of their foods and of course because of her, we went in the 3rd, 4th and 5th time!! And I am sure there will be many many many more times we will be stopping by!! From Fulin, you know we shall never judge the book by its cover. It's such a tiny little place without any elegant dinning wares and dressed up servers, yet, it is better than some of the fine dinning and expensive places we used to go!! Give them a try. After hearing about this place from a few Asian church moms, I knew I just had to try this place. I was told to order "surprise," and they weren't lying! It's wonderful to find a place that the chef loves to cook, or at least this is how I feel when I'm eating here. The surprise is essentially something authentic that the chef loves to make. And today it's a true authentic pork, taro, and cabbage dish. It's actually nearly exactly what I would get overseas; the pork would be cooked longer if overseas. Supposedly, don't order more than two surprises because he doesn't have that much ingredients for authentic stuff. I also had their cold onion and ginger chicken, mushu pork, stuffed eggplaints, and beef ribs with vegetables. All of those are fantastic and authentic. Looks like we have a top competitor to New Asia. In fact, I would say Fulin might be better now based on these dishes, but I would need to come back a second time to test consistency before I can just hand the crown over! I love competition! I also saw Beef Noodles on the table next to mine... I know what I'm having next! P.S. By authentic, I don't mean you order General Tso's chicken and expect it to be authentic. You order the authentic items in the menu. If you need help, ask the waiter; he's cool. General Tso's is like the fortune cookie. You don't ask for an authentic fortune cookie!

I generously gave Fulin 4 stars last time mainly due to their reasonably priced lunch specials, but I have grown somewhat disappointed by the quality of their food. Our soon-to-be-former office is literally across street from Fulin so we have ordered several big takeouts in the past couple months, mostly from the more authentic Chinese menu. They hit the spot sometimes but also had missteps every time: chicken was undercooked, vegetables were overcooked, fish was deep fried instead of pan fried, etc. After our office relocates to another part of town, I see little chance of me ever setting foot here again - it's just not worth driving across town for.

This is probably the best place in Memphis to enjoy an authentic Cantonese cuisine. I recommend placing an order ahead of time or taking out, as dining in can be terribly slow on busy nights. Wait time: If you order for a pick up, the food is made to order & usually takes no longer than 30 or so minutes. If you decide to dine in, it could take 30 minutes to an hour depending on the crowd that night. Atmosphere: This is a small restaurant with only a few tables. Last time I went, they decided not to turn the air on so it was pretty warm. Service: There are usually only 2-3 people working at a time, which undoubtedly contributes to their slowness when dining in. However, if you order for a pick up, they are surprisingly efficient. Food: The food is always hot, fresh, & made to order here. The serving sizes are also sufficient with a fair price range & a variety of Chinese dishes to choose from. Definitely the best authentic Canto food in the area. Overall: 4/5 Definitely a must try if you're in the mood for real Chinese food. I would rate 5 stars, but the dining experience really isn't up to par.

This place is very good for authentic Cantonese cuisine. From what I understand, the cook here is one of the old cooks from Asian Palace and New Asia, which makes sense because the menu is almost an exact rip off. This is not a bad thing though. Prices are a couple of dollars cheaper than New Asia also, but without sacrificing the quality. Everything is pretty good as far as the food goes. I do have one complaint though and that is about the wait time. It's a small operation that needs a lot of help in the kitchen. Wait times for food border on unacceptable if you get there at the wrong time. Come when the doors open or you will be there for more than an hour. In fact, every time I have been there, someone complains about how long they have been waiting for their food. This applies to take out as well. If you order takeout and they tell you "15 minutes," you need to double the time. Seating is limited because the place is small. I'd say 30-40 people max. Service is friendly. Ling is great and so nice.

Yes!! For so long I've been looking for a great Chinese place in Cordova. Little did I know it's been under my nose the whole time I've lived here. The fact that it's been open (and in the same location) at least since I moved here in 1995 is telling - they make good food and the place is clean. First, the egg rolls. They're pretty good, I like their sweet and sour sauce. It's a step up from the generic red sauce most places have. I've tried the sweet and sour chicken which is great, but the real winner I've had is the beef with broccoli. Nice tender beef with broccoli and carrots in a brown sauce. It's awesome.

My inlaws got takeout from this place so I can't comment on the price or the aesthetics of the location, but the food was pretty good. My favorite was a dish that consisted of napa cabbage, meat, and tendon. Overall good authentic food (yum)!

I love almost any type of Asian cuisine (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese and anything else you can think of). I can't resist the carb-o-liciousness of noodles and rice which are prevalent in these types of food. Fulin restaurant sits just off Germantown Parkway in Cordova, behind a bank and in the same parking lot as a Domino's and a Sonic. While these spots may be easier to see from the road and have national exposure, they don't necessarily offer the best food this parking lot or even the best value. Fulin offers a special lunch menu from which the diner can select one of 24 entree options. The lunch-sized portion is served with fried rice, egg roll, choice of soup and a sugar biscuit (I love sugar biscuits!). These range from $4.95 to $6.50 depending on which entree is selected. I chose the sesame chicken, which comes in at a very reasonable $5.75. Soup choices: Egg drop, Wonton, Hot and Sour and Vegetable. I picked wonton (if you couldn't tell.) It was a pretty standard version. Decent, but nothing special. I've had wonton soup with flavorful broth and tasty wontons, and I've soup with bland broth and tasty wontons. This one represented the latter. I interupted my lunch special with an order of pan-fried dumplings. I pretty much order them at any Asian restaurant if they're available. These were delicious - the wrapper wasn't too thick and the filling was meaty and juicy. This version of sesame chicken had tempura-battered chicken fingers with a sweet and tangy sauce spiked with sesame seeds. The batter on the chicken was super light and and the egg roll was crispy without being heavy or greasy.(Did I mention that I love sugar biscuits?) I'm sure the portion size is larger if you get the full dinner version, but it was more than enough for 2 separate meals. Final Impressions: As I venture out into the Memphis culinary scene, I've noticed more and more that many restaurants (especially those that serve Chinese food) often have two separate menus: the sort of "Americanized" version and the menu that features traditional, authentic dishes. I was impressed with my meal at Fulin. When I return, I'll try to be more adventurous in my selections and choose something a little more authentic.

YEA for good food! Everytime I go in there, I am usually ordering to go. Place is clean, smells good, and service is great. This time I had the sizzling chicken in black pepper sauce.. mmmm... goood. Portion was large, more than enough for two people (I am taking mine for lunch ;) ). Real chicken and plenty of it, with just enough bell peppers and onions to balance and the sauce is just spicy enough to kick. The one reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to the fried dumplings, they tasted ok, but were a little rubbery on fried side and mushy on top. Customers in place also seemed very impressed with their dishes (side note: while waiting for my order I almost fell out of my chair listening to some teens on a date and the boy was asking the girl "Your gonna take that home, right? Because you did order a lot of food." HAHA :0) I highly recommend this place.

Something made me try this place today for the first time, and I'm glad I did! The eggrolls.....ehhhh.....would have been better with my special concoction of duck sauce & hot mustard. Sadly, those things were not provided. Just some sweet & sour sauce in a little container. BUT......my lunch was awesome. Cashew chicken was great - and instead of using mostly water chestnuts (I HATE them!) - they had zuchinni, carrots, & onion for the accompaning veggies. The fried rice was delicious as well..... for $5.25 it was a very filling meal. I'd put it up against a "$5 Footlong" any day.

I had to visit this place twice, and I'll explain why. A few Asian friends mentioned this place to me and told me to just go and ask for specials, what ever they recommend... and when I did that I got orange chicken and beef ribs... and I wouldn't recommend the orange chicken. Go ahead and get the ribs, they're really good, you'll find them on the specials board by the front of the restaurant. So, when I told my friends about this, they insisted I go with them. So I did, and it was great. My first piece of advice, there are 2 menus available, ask for both of them, but spend more time with the "chinese menu" as I call it (don't worry, it has translations for everything). Want something fantastic, authentic, and smelly? Ask for salted fish with eggplant. Want something safe but authentic? Ask for the roasted duck. But no matter what you order, I have to strongly recommend the steamed oysters with black bean sauce, they will speak for themselves. I also really love the house wonton soup for 2, that's my personal recommendation. The most important advice, though, eat everything while it's hot, and eat it quickly. When the food cools it really isn't as good, so eat up, don't waste time with conversation, communicate with grunts, points, and "mmmmmmmmm"s. Enjoy

The food was above average for a strip mall take out place, so I don't have any real complaints on that front. My issue is the service/wait. We ate in, and it was slow. Like frozen molasses slow. Dinner should not take an hour and forty five minutes at a place like this!

Okay, I have been going to Fulin for probably a good 4 or 5 times now; from quick carry-out to actual dine-in; surprised me and pleased me every single time I am there!!! I am Chinese, even though I am "somewhat" or say "very"westernized, I have a special and authentic standard and value for Chinese foods. I don't usually go to Chinese restaurants here at all, because in certain way, it kinda totally ruined the reputation of authentic Chinese foods. The only reason why I stopped by at Fulin the very first time was because my friend and I had just finished worked out in Germantown Athletic Club, and he wanted chicken with broccoli. So, on our way home, we went in... What to say... Amazing portion and good quality and light yet healthy flavored dishes!! After the first visit, I was impressed with this tiny little place. So, we went in the 2nd time and ordered their special oyster! WOW!!! I was totally blown away!! It was sooooo delicious and appealing!!!! Not only that, their maybe one and only waitresses, who is an elder Chinese lady, is amazing!!!! Really... She is one of the highlights of our dine-in experience! She is extremely sweet and careful! She noticed my friend and I didn't eat rice the very first time, so she paid attention and carefully excused herself not bringing any rice for us the very next time. Little details!!!She paid close attention of little details and provided us very personable service! So because of their foods and of course because of her, we went in the 3rd, 4th and 5th time!! And I am sure there will be many many many more times we will be stopping by!! From Fulin, you know we shall never judge the book by its cover. It's such a tiny little place without any elegant dinning wares and dressed up servers, yet, it is better than some of the fine dinning and expensive places we used to go!! Give them a try. Sit yourself, and enjoy the flavor this small Chinese restaurant brings you! Good job Fulin! Keep up with the good work!!
