Went last night with a group of ten and stood outside with 20+ others waiting to go in for ice cream at 10:45 (they close at 11) and doors were locked while there were about 15 people inside and were told that they were closed. Very disappointing.

Love love the concept! Will definitely be back and will recommend it to all our friends. Sit inside or out depending on weather. We walked across the Walnut Bridge and it was a great place to cool off on a hot summer day!

I love this place, because their ice cream is rich and creamy, yet not too heavy like Marble Slab. It also has a personal touch because it's not a chain, and you get to choose all of your add ins. However, more often than not, I find that my ice cream and toppings aren't mixed all the way through. This is pretty disappointing. It's also a bit expensive, but pay in cash as a student, and you get a free size upgrade.

A fun name and an eye catching storefront at night as we walked uphill toward the Walnut Street Bridge. The ice cream shop is located right on the corner and the spacious patio is a perfect place to sit with cone in hand on a warm night. They use Mayfield Ice Cream or Yogurt as a base and you can choose from 40+ fresh ingredients. 17,000 possible combinations? That's a lot for a girl who is satisfied with butter pecan! My BF liked his choice but they forgot to add a waffle cone to the bottom of his cup, so I'm reserving a star for now until justice is served. We'll swing by again on our next trip to TN.

Don't go here for coffee. It's watery and they don't let you pour your own cream or half/half. I threw it in the garbage after 4 sips.

Great concept! I knew we had to try this place after reading all the awesome reviews in addition to a friend of mine, who went to college in Chattanooga, also raved about it! The service is quick and cashiers are very friendly to help with your order. I had a simple vanilla + Nutella, and although I enjoyed every bit of it, I would encourage everyone else to venture out and go a bit crazier with the flavor combos. I definitely regret keeping mine so simple! My boyfriend ordered a chocolate + banana + peanut butter and his was fantastic! We will definitely be returning back here every time we're in the city!

The price was too high for the simple, dairy Queen-like ice cream. You could probably make a pretty tasty combination with all the toppings they have, but it costs more for each add in. The location is what makes this place good, an ice cream cone is perfect for after a walk across the bridge.

Selection selection selection! Very glad we found this place - the flavor selection here is muy excellente~ Ice Cream Show has some alcohol flavors which are fun (rum, amaretto, kahlua, etc) and milkshakes of course. I love a milkshake with kick! And I love a place that is going to still be open after I finish dinner too (pretty decently late hours here). Great amount of indoor / outdoor seating. The only challenge here would be finding parking during the daytime as it's in downtown. Ohhh, and they appear to have free wifi too???? We'll be back! B-)

  • Dave M.

You definitely go here for the location and experience not necessarily the high quality ice cream. The base is Mayfield ice cream or yogurt. Chocolate or vanilla are the only flavors, then you can mix in dozens of different toppings. Then they blend it and scoop it into a cup or cone. The ice cream wasn't great. I got cheesecake with black cherry in vanilla yogurt and it was tasty, but not incredible. My wife had coffee as a topping and it was way too overwhelming, so definitely don't recommend. They do make their waffle cones and bowls in house which is a huge benefit. The location right near the arts district is great too.

I absolutely adore this place. In fact, I love this place so much that I've managed to stop by twice during my day-trip to Chattanooga. That is a lot of lactose for this poor lactose-intolerant girl, but I still stand by my decision. I love the concept of this cute ice cream shop. As someone who likes to be creative with their ice cream toppings, I was super excited to try various combinations from their wide selection of toppings. I also really liked that their ice creams were thoroughly blended, ensuring even distribution of the toppings (Cold Stone, I'm looking at you...). They also listed some popular topping combinations for those who need a suggestion. My personal favorite is blueberries, almonds, and dark chocolates with vanilla ice cream. Since the shop is conveniently located Walnut Street Bridge, you can take a casual stroll as you enjoy your sweet treat; it made me feel slightly less guilty about my excessive indulging habits.

I have had better ice cream and for cheaper from a super market brand in a gallon carton. Got a kid's size, asked for a side of gummy worms, and got two worms for the extra 50 cents. Just thought it a bit stingy. Service was bored and uninterested, and the only upside was the 10% off from checking in. I wouldn't go back.

  • Mark G.

A little expensive, but if you like your ice cream all mixed up a la Cold Stone creamery, this is the place for you. I had vanilla with dark chocolate in a waffle cone. I like supporting small local businesses, and if you need a little treat after a walk back and forth across the famous Chattanooga bridge, this place could not be more convenient.

Unique, and delicious, spin on once cream. Their mocha is also excellent.

Excellent concept! It's hard to describe this ice cream/coffee shop, but I like it. I like the decor, I like the ice cream and I like the location. It's just outside the south end of Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge. Oh, I also like how much it was a perfect date spot. I was too busy walking around outside taking pictures when my wife decided she wanted ice cream in 20 something degree weather, so I missed the explanation of "how to order" here. But in a nutshell, you choose: - Either vanilla or chocolate ice cream (or both) - Frozen yogurt also available - 40 flavor combinations like green mint, Irish cream, butterfingers, etc. - An assortment of fruits, chocolates, nuts and other miscellaneous items - Cup or waffle cone My wife chose chocolate & vanilla froyo with a snickers blended in. It was delicious! FINAL THOUGHTS We spent a romantic and slightly frozen weekend in Chattanooga. Although we didn't have any expectations of the city, its charm made for a memorable 17th Anniversary weekend of refreshing our love for one another. It was just so pleasant to walk the bridge, visit the aquarium, admire the landscapes, sculptures and river views. But it was especially heartwarming to sit and share a cup of delicious froyo in a cute and cozy little shop. It felt very much like a high school date, and her girl-like enthusiasm for eating ice cream while it was snowing could only be rivaled by dancing in the rain. I love my wife, I love my life and I love the Ice Cream Show.

Talk about sticker shock! The most memorable thing about The Ice Cream Show is the sky high price. Holy ice cream curmudgeon, Batman. Who gives ice cream a 2 star rating anyway? Let me explain. You start out with your only choice being a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Then you're encouraged to add "flavors," to create your own custom blended ice cream along with suggestions on what flavors complement vanilla and chocolate. Suggestions like mango, peanut butter, banana or rum. You get the idea. Then it's blended using a unique blending machine that looks a little like a milk shake blender. The whole point is to turn hard ice cream into soft serve. Am I the only one who doesn't see that as an improvement? Signage is less than clear about how this all adds up. One scoop of ice cream, $3.95, cha-ching. Add mango, 50 cents, cha-ching. Put it in a waffle cone, $1, cha-ching. Ice cream for two, $11.36! I think I opened my first savings account with less than that! And remember, this is Mayfield ice cream, not homemade. At that price I expect to swoon and hear angels sing when I taste it, but this was pretty boring. I could barely taste any banana that was blended with my scoop of chocolate. Honestly, I've had better at Baskin Robbins and at a more reasonable price.

Picture Cold Stone Creamery down one notch. Extremely expensive for what you get. I don't understand how this place gets the reviews it gets. We walked in with the kids and walked straight out. This town is in dire need of a Kilwin's to show the visitors what a real ice cream place is like. Disappointed.

  • Amber K.

Walking in the place had a lot of character. It's kind of like a combination of Coldstone and Dairy Queen. The 17,000 possible combinations is super overwhelming. Luckily, you can't go too wrong when you're playing with ice cream.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am officially in love and this is officially my absolute favorite frozen yogurt spot in Chattanooga. The sign outside that proclaims "Best In Town"? Absolutely true. I have tried a few places and today, decided to venture downtown on foot to explore a different neighborhood; I wasn't sure what I wanted for lunch but was getting hungry; As I crossed the very cool walking bridge from Frazier St that leads you to Market and Broad, one of the first things I spied was this little gem. I decided to go for dessert first for my lunch - very reasonably priced (a bit less than a child's scoop of ice cream at Haagen Dazs, and definitely less than most Atlanta yogurt places, at $2.99 plus $0.65 per topping- good for me since I only ever get one...). And how cool is it that you get your choice of chocolate or vanilla, then they blend up your toppings with to make a wonderfully DQ Blizzard-like concoction. My go to is vanilla with chocolate chip and this was just heavenly from the first bite. I can tell this is going to be a (very) regular stop as long as I am here!

  • Kwayne B.

The ice cream wasn't so bad. I was expecting the experience to be a "wow" factor. I will say how the mix the toppings into the ice cream is very innovative. They use a blender-like thing to mix everything perfectly. Pricing is reasonable and staff is pretty fair. You can enjoy your ice cream while walking on the bridge or just simply sit out on the patients and enjoy the crisp breeze and the people.

A couple of things combine to make The Ice Cream Show a five-star experience. Of course, the main reason you walk into their store is for the frozen treats. The ICS provides a seemingly simple menu - you pick between vanilla and chocolate, ice cream or frozen yogurt. From there, however, you can select among a plethora of add-ins and the possibilities are endless. I went simple - vanilla with strawberries. I forgot to specify ice cream or frozen yogurt; I probably ended up with ice cream. In any case, it was absolutely delicious. I just loved how the ice cream swirled in that waffle cone. The cone itself was also one of the best waffle cones I've ever had. The other thing that boosts The ICS experience is location. The store is in downtown Chattanooga, right by the foot bridge that takes you across the Tennessee River. You can start a fun and relaxing night by parking across the river and walking across the bridge. Even in the summer humidity, the evening breeze coming off that water feels fantastic. And if it's not too warm out, you can enjoy your frozen treat on their wonderful patio seating area. The ICS is also located right between the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Tennessee Aquarium. If you're ever in downtown Chattanooga, those are a couple of fun attractions to check out. Just don't forget to grab an ice cream or froyo on your way.

Nothing like eating ice cream on a hot day.. Ordered a mix of vanilla and chocolate ice cream - added strawberries and walnuts. - in a waffle cone! I love how they blended it so that there weren't chunks of strawberries or big pieces of walnuts - each and every bite was perfect.

  • Jeremy S.

Prices are fair, ice cream is delicious (with whatever mix-ins you would like), and it is right next to the Walnut Street bridge, a beautiful walk at night.

Awesome. We hit up the hole-in-the-wall (literally) stand down on Broad St. looking for iced coffees, but when we asked about decaf the operator (apparently also the owner) directed us up the hill to "my big store". He also provided a coupon for $1 off 4 drinks, which helped ease the decision about hiking up to Walnut on that 90° day. It was well worth the short (but steep) walk, coupon or no, and we were greeted by friendly staff who walked us through the process of two guys (my Dad and I) trying to get their wives' iced coffee orders right. This included reading the label on the sugar-free chocolate syrup bottle for me to make sure they weren't putting aspartame in my wife's drink. (for the curious, it was sweetened with Splenda, which is also not good, but doesn't induce migraines for the Missus) The drinks (a combination of frappes and iced cappuccinos) came out perfect and cost an average of $4 apiece. The location on Walnut by the walking bridge and the Hunter Museum makes for great sitting, chatting, people-watching. I hope to be in the neighborhood again, when I will probably fall off my sugar-free wagon to eat some ice cream.

  • Gaby S.

Very cute ice cream concept. You can create your own ice cream with SO many add ons. A bit on the expensive side ($8 for an adult ice cream with two toppings) but hey... if you are enjoying a nice day in Chatta, then why not.

  • Anthony D.

Great place too venture for Ice Cream Mixology of Ice Cream best states your ability to combine for up to 17,000 different combos. Residency in the upper level of 129 Walnut Street makes it especially easy to get a treat.

  • Cathy W.

Interesting experience. Does not compare to Marble Slab, however. Mixing in the flavors is not nearly as good as mixing in the real thing (for instance, my favs: coffee and cinnamon ice creams with Heath bar mixed in) Ice cream with flavors only mixed in made texture grainy. What is great about this place is the location. Took a fun walk across the glass bridge just outside, and people watched a little and took pictures on the bridge. If you've come to this area of town for those two things, by all means-stop in for ice cream.

I ordered vanilla yogurt with pistachio and chocolate chips. Surprisingly, it was in my hand before we even finished paying. AND it was chock full of each topping. Very very good, and worth every calorie. My fiancee ordered the chocolate yogurt with strawberries and that was really tasty as well. Very cute outdoor sitting area, next to a TN River overpass that is now a pedestrian-only walkway. That provided beautiful views of the river and the rest of the city. Great date night spot!

I love this place, saw it for the first time walking from North Shore to Genghis Grill on my birthday so we went and I took my parents too. So delicious my hubby and I went back for date night... this will be a regular for us!

Tasty ice cream. We tried the vanilla with oreo and pineapple ingredience. Waffle tastes very crunchy with real butter smell.

I love the idea behind Ice Cream Show. I can always get a different mix. So far everything I've tried has been delicious - vanilla ice cream with almond, coconut and dark chocolate and then chocolate ice cream with oreo, cookie dough and almonds. It's creamy and addictive. Sometimes I get the child size because it's such a big portion. Is it ice cream or frozen yogurt or frozen custard? Unsure. Either way it's delicious and affordable.

Now this is an ice cream shoppe! You can smell the waffle cones when you're outside of the building and I swear I'd get one every time I'm downtown! I had an M&M and Oreo cookie in a waffle cone and it was killer. The flavors, the amount of quality ingredients were all there. The times we've visited there was always a line but that didn't stop us and the wait wasn't that long. Also, they have a nice outdoor seating area so you can take in the people watching. Good stuff.

  • Craig L.

Totally unique ice cream (and coffee) shop. They have this cool machine that mixes the ice cream with the add ins. I have never seen anything like it before. Awesome location next to the river and near the museum. Lots of tables outside and a great staff.

Love love love The Ice Cream Show!!! Went last night to try to make it before they closed - had one minute, so close! - and was served with a smile. Best combo so far - vanilla ice cream with cherries, walnuts, and fudge. So good!

Wish i had 2 stomachs!!! Lots of variety to choose from. Not too expensive. I had the vanilla ice cream mixed with cheescake, cake batter, and cookie dough in a waffle bowl. Devoured it!

  • B. W.

A groovy little ice cream parlor at one end of the Walnut Street Bridge, the end nearest the Hunter Art Museum. This parlor offers two "base" ice creams, chocolate and vanilla, and from there you can add up to three more flavors or toppings, and have it in either a fresh-baked cone or in a cup. My girlfriend had chocolate with strawberry and I went with chocolate-peanut butter. Excellent dessert, and the space is nice, too, with a cozy indoors with tables, etc, and also an outdoor patio.

The best soft serve I've ever had. Great mix-in options. The blueberries and other fruits are quite fresh. Try the chocolate shell/dip cone.

They have so many choices. It's soooo good. They have some unique choices for the combos and the price is pretty good. Whichever flavor combo that you choose, you will not be dissapointed!!

Holy Mother of Ice Cream, this ish is DELISH! Love everything I've tried here! I damn near want to visit my sister just to make a trip to ICS! Ummm, I'm drooling at the thought of it! NOthing more to say here but...GO PEOPLE, GO! You won't be sorry! Even if it does compromise your diet!

Wow! I love my ice cream and The Ice Cream Show puts a great twist on that. pardon the pun. I wall in town for a visit and had one of the special mixes of the day, Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake. It was to die for. Already thinking of my next concoction on my next visit. Great place to stop while walking around downtown.

  • Mick D.

This is custom-blended ice cream. Like getting soft-serve with your toppings intact within. I'm going to describe this as a cross between a DQ blizzard and anything Cold-Stone or Marble Slab does. They actually blend your choice of toppings into your ice-cream. None of that mash-by-hand business. The results are a smooth, more uniform consistency. I hear they make their waffle cones in-house, though I did not try one. And service was fast and friendly. The courteous fellow behind the register took good care of us. I'll happily return to this place. Holler if you're coming with.

I've been here a couple times before and got cookies and cream and it was great. Came again today to try sorbet and it tasted like blended cheap fruit with no sugar. When I asked if I could switch it out for something else (I had taken one small spoonful from my cup) the girl at the cash rep gave me attitude and said no. This used to be a nice place but the service isn't.

My favorite ice cream shop in the south. You pick your flavors and they put them in a blender and mic them with vanilla or chocolate and give it to you. Easy but intelligent, It's actually very good invention and marketing strategy for this kind of business and makes a great snack. Tonight is the first time I have been here in maybe a year but I am coming back more. It is located to the left just before you will across the walking bridge called Walnut Street Bridge.

Every time we come to Chattanooga we always come here! We love "The Ice Cream Show". The yogurt and ice cream are outstanding and the nearly endless selection of mix-in's is fantastic. The thing that sets this apart from places like Coldstone Creamery and Marble Slab is that they actually blend in your add-ons. Every bite will have something in it. Prices are reasonable and the quality is awesome! Must stop here if you're in Chattanooga!!

    (5)
  • Katie H.

i've had a lot of ice cream and honestly, i couldn't care less for the ice cream show. i came here a few times with my friends who loved it, but as soon as the staff told us we were encouraged to make our own flavors and add this topping and that topping, i was immediately turned off, not to mention that every topping costs extra. it's ice cream, i like to keep it simple and tasty, not hoard a bunch of toppings on it and have it be disgustingly sweet. not my thing. but, for those who do enjoy that, then the price might be worth it.

Great variety of ice cream flavors! Outdoor seating as well as indoor. You're right at the end of the Walnut St bridge too

What a wonderful way to top off our exploration of the Riverfront area! Loved the super friendly service, easy atmosphere, and to many options to name for our ice cream treat. Delicious ice cream, but the surprise treat was the light and tasty waffle bowl. It was definitely the best I've had. Loved it!
