Not too bad, good quality, but I've had better. Had both the bbq dog and Dutch frites dog. Liked the bbq better than the ditch frites. Curry ketchup is pretty good though.

Modern retro eclectic atmosphere. Neat spot. Prices are steep - $13 for a hot dog and fries and drink. However the food is really good. Fresh cut fries. Served warm cooked well. Sauces are homemade. Great in general The hotdog we had Chicago dog was a good representation of a Chicago dog but not stellar. Food good in general. Service really friendly.

Although every dog is good, I usually get the special b/c they are there a limited time and they are always so full of flavor! My favorite so far was the Turducken I had over the holidays. Also, I never feel hungry because they are stuffed very full and loaded with toppings.

I love this place. Susan the owner truly has a passion for serving and pleasing. You will feel like home when you walk in the door. The beer specials are amazing, the food is the best. Hot dogs you will ever have. I highly recommend you eat here at least once while in Chattanooga

I love, love, love Good Dog. Not only do they have a veggie dog (you can get any of their menu dogs as a veggie dog), it's a GOOD veggie dog. Seriously, I don't know if they make it themselves or what, but it's not a rubbery SmartDog and I love them for it. They also have a small but good beer selection. It's mainly cans, but if you're not into that they usually have Chattanooga Brewing Company on tap. This place is tasty, cheap, has a great atmosphere and serves beer (like any good hotdog joint should). What's not to like?

Best veggie dog in town! I sent it back the first time I ordered it because I was worried they had confused the order. It's just that good! Fries are amazing- try the frites sauce! The 2 bean chili is also tasty. And the staff are the friendliest in Chattanooga!

Cute and funky little spot on the North Shore. Very nice people work here, and the menu is more than just hot dogs! They do breakfast plates and an incredible variety of hot dogs - and this one specialty that is a cone of fries in paper, with meat and toppings of your choice (I must try if only out of sheer curiosity). Great and reliable free WiFi. They don't mind at all if you linger, even if you don't order. Last visit I just had breakfast potatoes, which were solid if a tad spicy (peppery?) for my taste but they'd be good with eggs. Near me, I will probably return soon! (oh, and they have early am drink specials too, from 7-10 am!)

A cute, creative, and funky designed artisan hot dog and sausage place (get the Dutch frite hot dog it comes with fries in it) that provides an energetic and enthusiastic environment for the customers (greeted us the second we walked in and treated us like locals) and super helpful. Will be returning.

I was kind of avoiding this place because uh hot dogs. I was told they were gourmet and their reviews on Yelp were very high. Sooo I went. The guy who rung me up was the best! He walked me through the menu and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions. He told me the sausage they case in house but it was more food than the hot dog. I wanted the fries they made in house so didn't want to be too full so I ordered the breakfast hot dog. I can't remember everything on it but the highlight things for me was arugula and a poached egg. I don't know what it is but I'm super into poached eggs lately. While I waited I looked around a bit. I love the atmosphere they have created and I'm in love with their recycle room. It's a fun, quirky, and unique place. My food was good and I enjoyed the house made ketchup on my table. My only complaint about this place is my egg was not poached. Going off of my poached egg kick it was more soft boiled. The fries were good but needed just a little something else. Overall, if I was a local I'd take my friends here.

Visited from Dallas, TX. I consider myself a hot dog "snob", meaning that I've tried the best and the worst of them. My daughter wanted to take me here to see what I thought. It was greatness. I don't remember what all our table ordered, but it was a little bit of everything. I do remember that I had a reuben that was highly unusual and very good! So were the hand cut frites. Great service to boot. Hey guys, lets get some investors and open up some stores from Dallas to Fayetteville, AR! Love it!

So good. Such an amazingly friendly staff. Fast orders. Great setting. The hot dog options are where it's at however. They have signature hot dogs or you can create your own. (I always go for a veggie dog with real bacon, avocado, tomato, and onion. Kind of like a guacamole dog?) You can have beef, pork or veggie. The toppings are almost endless as well. You can have eggs, bacon, avocado, tomatoes and so much more. The curry ketchup is just as fantastic as the fries. Cold beer and other drinks. THEY HAVE A BRUNCH DOG FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. What's not to love about this place??

I would have taken photos of my meal here but I didn't want to share how magnificent it was. Photos of my Chicken and Gravy hash plate would have been classified as "food pornography", it was absolutely sinfully delicious. I don't know who has the golden plated palate that came up with these flavor profiles but they deserve high praise and a spot on Master Chef (just so the world can be impressed that a "hot dog" chef is on Master Chef). Good Dog is far more than a "hot dog" place, this is culinary bliss that comes disguised as tubular meat. They case their own sausages and they blend a variety of wonderful condiments to add to their already wonderful meat magic. The curry ketchup is perfect with just about everything. I had the "Chicken and Gravy" hash plate. The chicken sausage was absolutely divine and the flavors just jumped off the plate. Oh and don't discard that "garnish" because it is actually a wonderful arugula with a fantastic light dressing on it. Toss it in with the rest of your hash plate and then add a little of that curry ketchup and you will be in the foodie pleasure dome. The location is great, the place is wonderfully setup and the staff can't be beat. I have never seen young man so excited to tell me about everything on the menu before. The "frites" (fries for the less high brow) are wonderful and they have these neat holes cut in the table that the "frite cones" fit in. Forget that fact that is sounds like a "hot dog" place and just get your behind down to Good Dog to see what a talented chef can do with meat in a tube. You taste buds will thank you!

This was a less than stellar experience. Our order took at least 20 minutes to come out, which for hot dogs and fries seemed extreme. People who came in much later than us got their food before us. The explanation for the delay was that the gluten free bun I ordered "took a while to warm up." When we finally got our order, my bun was cold, not the slightest bit warm. The bun was incredibly dry also. I ended up not even eating it. The staff was very enthusiastic but a bit much for my taste. We were given a long tutorial before ordering. To me, the menu was pretty self explanatory. The staff was regularly checking in and wanting to discuss sauces, etc. It took so long to get our food and yet eating was further delayed by more questions from the staff. I know some folks enjoy high touch service but I just wanted to eat my long awaited dog in peace. My boyfriend enjoyed his dog and especially the frite sauce.

Good dog is definitely part of the Chattanooga experience. Good dog offers a unique take on the hot dog. With their mentality that includes, reuse, recycle and renew, and their use of local produce and food products, good dog epitomizes the North Chattanooga culture. Everything on the menu is fresh local delicious and homemade. There are items on the menu that you would never have considered putting on a hot dog before your trip to good dog. Hip, trendy, fun & delicious! Vegetarians do not dismay, good dog offers a wide variety of menu choices designed just for you including a delicious veggie dog. There are even interesting breakfast/brunch choices. The owner Susan is fun, vivacious & welcoming. Make sure to take a moment to look around at all of the unique and interesting aspects of the decor. If you are an out of towner you must get a Pabst Blue Ribbon aka PBR as that is the local beer at Chattanooga. Have fun at good dog maybe I'll see you there!

I ordered the chili dog. I didn't think it was possible to mess up a chili dog. Wrong. The hot dog was just shy of warm, as was the chili. There was a strange taste that I couldn't figure out... As for the service, the server was very excited about the business. If he asks you if it's your first visit, just say yes. He'll spend a few minutes going over the menu, which is very self-explanatory. So, with that being said, I will not be going back. How hard is it to get a hot dog right?

Very fun place with a bunch of different hot dog options. Haven't found anything I don't like! The workers are very nice as well.

The people that work here are super friendly and accommodating. They offer vegetarian and non vegetarian options. They practice what is preached when it comes to trying to have sustainability and keep things local. Goes all the way down to the quarter toy machine where they will reuse the "bubble" if you place it in the container they provide for it. they also encourage you to recycle in an area they have set aside in a back room. that out of the way they do serve a delicious breakfast. you do pay a little more but its within reason where it will not keep you away. I had the chicken and gravy hash. the egg was perfectly poached and the meal in all is pretty good. The coffee is really good and locally roasted. they make their own veggie hot dogs and well it goes on. just stop in and give it a try. Well worth a visit.

The staff here was the nicest staff I have encountered eating in Tennessee! Very friendly and accommodating. The owner gave our family hugs and made us feel at home. We had issues with the credit card, and the owner told us we could come settle up later. My family and I were beyond impressed with this place. Everything is home made-including the ketchup and dressings. Great vegan and vegetarian options! We also ordered a brat and it was amazing.

We were visiting Chattanooga for spring break and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was absolutely delicious. My son now wants to here every day while we are here. Get the meal frites, you won't be disappointed or leave hungry.

What an awesome little dive! We had 1 full day in Chattanooga and we spent it at the zoo and at Good Dog. They know how to do sausages and hot dogs! So many toppings and combinations, it was hard to choose. Then the Jamaican sausage caught my eye. I was informed that the sausages were ground in house and that the jamaican was goooooood. I added garlic cream cheese, onions and peppers, and a poached egg on top. YUM! My dad got it with their recommendations, and he was very happy with it as well. I had to knock off a star for the bun. I expected a nice chewy roll, but got a very very dense bready roll. It almost tasted stale it was so thick. The kids had dogs, and for 2 bucks a pop they were happy. You MUST get the fries if for one reason - to dip them into the homemade curry ketchup and wasabi ketchup. Both were AMAHHHHHHHZING! Oh, and I love how they promote the local beer that is made across the street. Very cool. Lastly, my FAUXmosa. It was a hard apple cider beer with orange juice. Dude, it was BETTER than a mimosa!!!!!

The service is fine, and the people are nice and welcoming. I have been here twice, when it comes to the food; Good Dog falls short of good. The hotdogs and sausages were in no way memorable. Lack of flavor and generally dry over cooked hotdogs are paired with equally stale buns increasing the level of disappointment. The French fries are mediocre, they attempt to augment their lack of flavor with their in house seasoning, but it proves to be lacking and more of the same. The in house ketchup is rushed. I love hotdogs, and I have had some great ones in other cities. I see the direction Good Dog wants to go, and it could happen for them. Good Dog probably has the capability of making a descent hot dog, they are doing the right things ie casing in house, house made ketchup etc. but definitely needs to rethink a few things. Also disappointed to see no recycling.

First time trying Good Dog as my boyfriend has recommended it. Finally on a Saturday where we had nothing to do we headed to Good Dog and we were not disappointed. Crew members were very attentive and helpful as I didn't know what to choose since it was my first time here. Overall experience was good, Id recommend this place to friends and family.

  • Gigi D.

Must eat here anytime we hit Chattanooga. The fries come in a cone. The cone sits in a hole built into the table. This makes them even more delicious. The dogs are exquisite too. Hard to go wrong. If you get sausage instead, get some toppings, as that bad boy will likely arrive kinda naked. Lovely staff!

  • Bernie G.

Not horrible, but the price doesn't match the quality. Better hot dogs from a street cart for $2.50 and they charge $5+

  • Sandy M.

The friendliest place in town. Great hot dogs and great fries. You can get a dog most any way you want it. Red velvet and carrot cake cupcakes finish off a terrific spot. Good variety of beer. Highly recommend this spot.

  • Miana H.

I'm a bit of a hot dog fanatic so I can be pretty particular about them. We love it here! The hotdogs are wonderful, many of the toppings are great - especially the kraut. We also loved the fact that they use a lot of natural items made and bought locally.

  • Laura H.

Great find. Plenty of options from traditional toppings to off the wall combos, with the ability to customize. Highly recommend the wasabi ketchup on your frites. We had the Italian, Carolina and barbecue dogs and the traditional brat. Only regret is that we didn't get to try breakfast! Great location in proximity to the pedestrian bridge.

I daresay Good Dog knows how to do brunch! I had the Good Dog Chorizo Hash. I would have it again! A simply fantastic meal with excellent sausage, fresh avocado and arugula, and a perfect egg over easy to top it off! Moreover, the workers were genuine and friendly! I will definitely stop here again! Such a neat, creative, and intellectually stimulating atmosphere with an overall great vibe!

It would seem from the other reviews I came on a bad night. Friday night? Well the place is quirky with different colored walls and funky art everywhere. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were there with a group of six. So we tried just about half of the selection of dogs on the menu overall. A couple of the dogs were a bit cold in the middle. I like my hot dogs, well, hot. The dogs were creative and I personally had the New York street dog and the Chili Cheese Slaw dog. Man, I wish they were warm. Everything else was ok. Maybe next time.

  • Natalie S.

Let me start by saying I love this place. I have never had a bad meal there and I love how passionate the staff is. Try one of their suggested toppings, you won't regret it. If you want to try something new, ask the staff. They are incredibly knowledgable and helpful The sides are pricey which is a bummer. $3.25 for small fries or like $4.00 for a small salad is pricier than the other options. The reason I really wanted to give it 3 stars and not 4-- the veggie dog leaves a lot to be desired. It is way too small for the bun so when you eat it you get a whole lot of bun and not a lot of dog. I don't eat beef so my other option would be a pork brat, which then takes up the whole bun and doesn't leave any room for toppings. Get a turkey dog!!! Please please please! Or improve the veggie dog.

Very good, reasonably priced food served in a funky friendly setting. I had the Italian Dog with curry catsup and an excellent local beer.

  • Denise D.

Had their hot dog at the market and it wasn't that great for the price. Recently ordered their fries at their location and was disappointed. They were rubbery, undercooked and tasted like they were fried in fish oil. The size was ok.

    (1)
  • Jessica C.

Great meal and excellent service. Everything is made in-house and they have a gluten-free bun option, which was helpful. We will be back soon.

    (4)
  • Eliza R.

Not gonna lie, the hot dogs are tasty and I love that they have veggie dogs as well. The fries (aka frites) are probably the best fries I've ever had. But... it's just really expensive for what it is. A plain and simple hot dog is $2.75 and can be as much as 4.25 depending on the toppings! I could go to the grocery store, buy the same brand Good Dog uses (Hebrew National) and grill 8 hot dogs for the same price! Ack! I would only go there once in a while for a special treat or felt too lazy to cook my own dang hot dog.

  • Matt B.

I went here a few weeks ago with a friend. I love a good hot dog, and was excited to try this place. The hostess is the best part about this place. She was incredibly friendly and thoroughly explained the somewhat complicated menu. I ended up ordering a spicy Italian sausage. It was about 15 dollars for the sausage, fries, and drink. Extremely expensive for what the meal was. It took about 15-20 minutes for our orders to come to the table. The different ketchup choices are very awesome, the curry being my personal favorite. The food was good but the price kept bothering me. It was a good experience but I do not think I will go back. Paying 10-15 for a bratwurst is just too much.

  • Sean M.

Meal Frites...so good. Had the Chicken and Gravy and the Italian. Both great. Very nice that the fries did not get soggy. One thing bad was they were so hearty that we could not try the hot dog.

  • Vikki G.

Delicious breakfast! My boyfriend had the chorizo breakfast plate and I had the meal frites with a Good Dog, Jamaican jerk sausage & sauerkraut on top. Everything was great. Nice to have a bunch of gluten-free options- French fries are GF, many sausages, and they offer a GF bagel instead of bread (or lettuce wrap).

  • Kendra S.

My kids go ape at Good Dog and the good people that keep the dogs turning do not seem to mind. It's an affordable, kiddie-friendly establishment. Love the kitschy decore, the booths, even the T-shirts are doggone adorbs. Not sure what could make the place better other than the popularity of handmade foods can make the waiting a little long sometimes. With such close proximity to Clumpies and Coolidge Park, one cannot really be too displeased. Salsa veggie dog OR Cleveland veggie dog with small fries (even the small is a heaping helping) Coke or Diet Coke chaser Cupcake for dessert Done and done.

  • Kim-Thao H.

Not too shabby. My friends and I tried the Hawaiian Dog and one other that I cannot remember. They were both pretty good, but after you've tried Dat Dog in New Orleans, no other hot dog will ever taste the same, hence the three stars. We also ordered the Not Yo "Nachos" Frites which was topped with cheese, tomatoes, and a side of sour cream, although they did forget the sour cream. The fries were good though I have to say. Overall, if you're looking for something decent-priced and quick on Frazier St., this would be a good stop.

In a world where I had not ever been to Hot Doug's ( yelp.com/biz/hot-dougs-c… ), this might have been a 5-star experience. Regrettably, since I have, then it is a 4 (I'd love to give it 4 and a half). They have a killer selection of hot dog options! Everything is affordable and some of the combinations are just great ideas. I got the "NY Street Cart Dog", which was the perfect mix of spicy brown mustard, saurkraut and perfect sweet onion relish. Right on the money. Because I have no willpower, I also opted for the "Pimento Cheese Dog", because they had me at home-made pimento cheese. Really great and paired with mayo-y frite sauce. And it gets better, they had AWESOME frites; they serve them in a paper cone that conveniently fits in the tables. And they have fantastic condiments to go with them, curried ketchup, wasabi ketchup, etc - plus their special combo they mixed up for us and brought to the table - malt vinegar, sriracha, and frite sauce (mayo). So stinking good, can't wait to do it at home. And the grand finale, draft beer. They gave us great service and even had veggie and gluten-free dogs for those that can't handle such things (like the wife and kiddo). Definitely worth a stop if you are near Coolidge Park! And guys, 5 stars if you start doing frites cooked in duck fat...

If you're looking for a Good Dog, you might find it here, but be prepared to pay dearly for your dog. I stopped in here for lunch with a group of my friends and ordered a dog, some fries, and a soda and paid over $10 for it. I was not impressed by the small hot dog that was placed on a huge oversized bun. I tasted mostly the toppings and the bun as I ate this thing. The "frites" (fries) were decent and they were good with the house-made Curry Ketchup. Just because I'm a glutton for punishment, I went back... this time to try either a bratwurst or a hand wrapped sausage. I wound up with the sausage, which was better than a "Good Dog", but quite pricey at over $15 (along with the aforementioned small fries and a drink). "THE Italian Sausage" was pretty good... I just don't think that the amount of food there is worth the $8.75 price tag. It also took an insane amount of time to make. In fact, someone who came in behind us received their food before we got ours. I was beginning to wonder if they forgot us. Service was pretty good... the cashier takes an interest in everyone after they've sat down, offering to refill drinks at the self-serve drink stand... or whipping up other sauces for the dogs and fries. That's a nice touch. The decor is quirky and centered around all things that have the word "dog" on them. It's definitely casual and you can bring the kiddos along here too. This is not a place I would go out of my way to go to again, but if someone else suggested that we go there, I wouldn't say no either.

I was visiting someone in Chattanooga when we heard about a new hot dog place. We decided to give it a whirl, considering the person who raved about Good Dog doesn't even like hot dogs. Oh, my goodness. It was like falling into a trap. All those tasteless brats and hot dogs you've had at ballgames, the two bit wrapped in plastic supermarket specials.....forget it. Good Dog takes all those preconceptions and karate chops them in the testicles. I've eaten NYC and Chicago hot dogs in their respective cities, and Good Dog is right up there with them. There is a good selection of hot dogs, plus salads, cupcakes, beers, etc. The owner always remembers me by name, even though I only make it back maybe once a year now. When I first get to Chatt, this is my first stop. Sometimes I cry a little when I take that first bite. You know how on The Price Is Right, you always know when the prize is gonna be a new car? That's how my taste buds feel about the fries. When I walk in, my tongue starts pre-gaming. The assorted condiments are fantastic....curry ketchup and wasabi ketchup are to die for. So good, in fact, that they come on every table now. Bottom line, Good Dog will make you think twice about hot dogs and fries. Kid-friendly, awesome atmosphere, great location, what more could you want?

A great spot for hot dog variety, a fun local-hip vibe, that is friendly to conscious-meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, (and even those who can't eat gluten are welcome). The expansive menu at the Good Dog is extra wonderful when you realize you can get each and every dog topping combo on either a local beef or vegetarian dog. You can also choose a gluten free bun. The topping combinations range from the traditional regional favorites (like Cleveland indians ballpark, NY street cart, Philly, and my favorite, Chicago) to the inspired (like pimento cheese, BLT, or BBQ). Everyone at our table enjoyed their choices, and the toppings were fresh, buns are good size and hold their own against even the messiest dogs, and the dogs have great flavor. The frites are hand cut, twice fried and served in a cone (which the custom tables will handily hold for you!) Add to that some wonderful condiment choices like curry or wasabi ketchup or the special house sauce of mayo/sriracha hot sauce/malt vinegar and I'm in heaven! There are other menu options too- I tried the 2 bean vegetable chili and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly attentive counter service complements the easy going atmosphere. Bottom line- Check this place out!

I've realized that I don't really like hot dogs. That being said - If you do like hot dogs you will really really like Good Dog. The different toppings you can get on your hot dogs, the beer, the vibe, the dipping sauces for the fries... it's such a great place. I just happen to not love hot dogs. Definitely worth a try for lunch if you are in Chattanooga but don't forget to finish it off with Clumpie's ice cream for dessert.

  • Raquel C.

One of the best hot dog ever!! I love that they have lots of options for vegetarians. The only bad thing is they took a long time to bring the food but since the food was so great I didnt mind waiting!

  • Stephen H.

You know... WTH... Do we all need a Walmart experience everywhere we go? I've eaten good dog at the restaurant, the market and at miller plaza. The food is always hot and made to order. My favorite is the onion sauce with fries and the horseradish ketchup. Yeah I know you can get cheaper and faster so why don't you go there and eat and shut-up. If you are looking for something different and made to order and you want to support a local business trying hard to deliver a superlative product then visit good dog. You will not be disappointed. And... If it is a Thursday, Friday or Saturday depending on the time of day you can get a growler of CBC beer fresh from the keg across the street. Mmmmm day old beer. Oh by the way the onion sauce is made fresh daily. The fries are freaking awesome and the wasabi catsup is a wonderful compliment to the fries.

    (4)
  • Brandi N.

You'll be disappointed if you don't try one of their pre-designed dogs. The first time I came, I got a plain dog with the classic ketchup and mustard. It didn't taste bad, just bland, and I left disappointed. The second time, I decided to get a little crazy and had the Brutus (pesto, cream cheese, grilled peppers- all things I wasn't sure would be good on a hot dog). Needless to say, the Brutus was AMAZING. Don't be afraid to try unfamiliar hot dog toppings, especially here. They do a great job, and I was told the basil for the pesto comes straight from the owner's garden. Oh, and make sure you put Dog Dust on your frites!

  • Zeb M.

First of all, I'm not wild about hot dogs. I've been to other joints - one really bad hot dog place, and another that was great. Good Dog falls in the middle of them. Nothing bad about the dog itself, but not worth the price when you're wanting more toppings. The fries are pretty good, though.

    (3)
  • Ryan B.

Great dog dust! Sometimes it's best to do your research before heading into a new place, so you can learn the joint's story and reason and love. I didn't this time. I walked in blind--having never heard of the place-- and didn't know the story. The three rating was my first impression after walking out. Now after spending a little time on the website, I wish I had known what Bertman's was or that the wasabi was homemade. It would have added to my impression. But three-stars is A-OK. I came with four boys and another adult male. My oldest son and I had the chili/slaw dog because we are serious about flavor. Was the chili sweet? That caught us off-guard and we didn't prefer that. So, my first impression wasn't great on a place that I now want to enjoy better. Part of an experience like this is education. Tell me what I'm getting and why it's good, and I'll love you forever. We'll be back though.

  • Jeff I.

I took my wife and 3 boys for dinner. We ordered 2 basic dogs, a chicken sausage and the Real Italian sausage with an order of fries. Once you get past the fact that it's expensive, the food was delicious!! The staff was friendly and the wait was reasonable. Would love to go back!

Very cool place! Hot dogs are creatively flavored and yummy. Nice atmosphere and the staff was really nice. Love the decor.

    (4)
  • Trish B.

Wasn't blown away. The "dog" it self wasn't anything special (little and thin) nor was the bun, it was just like a store bought bun. For the price (5.50 just for the dog) I expected a bigger hot dog and a homemade bun. They have a lot of toppings and some interesting combinations; the fries were also fabulous and they have different versions of ketchup. Parking is not great either. Staff was very nice and enthusiastic. Overall $23 for hot dogs, fries and drinks (for 2 people) was a bit pricey.

    (2)
  • Julie B.

We love Good Dog!!! The fries are amazing (not to mention the hot dogs) The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Great place for kids or a date. The location close to the park makes it ideal. My son's personal favorite is one of Ms. Susan's red velvet cupcakes. Delicious!!

we saw this place on our way to mudpie, and after eating lunch, we decided to go ahead and get a dog anyway . . . so we stepped in, and ordered a bbq hot dog. overall, it was a fairly juicy dog, and the bbq sauce was more sweet than I would have liked, but the cole slaw was pretty good and it went down pretty well. I think that I would prefer biting into something that would explode a little more in my mouth, with juice and bold flavors, but overall, it was pretty good. I think I would consider trying a different dog if we went back again though. The other thing that caught my eye was that they had day-old cupcakes @ 4/$5 . . . whereas day-of cupcakes were $2.50 a piece. They looked super delicious. In retrospect, I should have jumped on it!

Great food and atmosphere. A perfect fit for Chattanooga's Northshore. Good Dog can best be described as a hip gourmet hotdog restaurant. There are styles of hotdogs for everybody as well as build-your-own and "wacky dog of the week" options. There were even interesting ketchup selections. The best dogs I tried were "The Chicago" or "The Dirty Water Dog". The staff are young cute hipster women, the store's T shirt is made by American Apparel, and the salt shakers are ironic. The whole place oozes hipster-style in an accessible, non-obnoxious, way. Price are very reasonable. I read one review that said otherwise but I disagree. It's a sit down lunch restaurant downtown Chattanooga not Sonic. Hotdogs are about 3 to 5 bucks; add fries and a drink and your meals is about 8 to 10 a person. That's good, not bad.

As a twenty year vegetarian, it is certainly out of the ordinary for me to review a hot dog joint. Truly, for me, a tofu dog is a tofu dog. Nothing special...until I met the ketchup bar at The Good Dog. Homemade ketchup changes everything! They have 2, make that 3, of the most amazing condiments known to the dog! Firstly, there is a wasabi ketchup that is out of this world! Just enough kick to make that very unspecial veggie dog special. The homemade curry ketchup is a delicious treat for the taste buds and combined with the homemade honey mustard it took that plain old veggie dog to new heights! In addition to these condiments, they created "Dog Dust", a blending of spices and herbs that really added to the flavor of the dogs and the frites. I told the lady behind the counter they should retail that dust, they'd make a killing! The "frites" come in a huge order...we split one with the entire family. I am not a big fan of mayo, so I did not try their euro-mayo frite dip...but the wasabi ketchup was AWESOME on those frites. I also did not try the delicious looking homemade cupcakes because I had a date with an ice cream shop down the block. Very yummy food, a fun and casual atmosphere, I would definitely go back.

I had the Chicago dog and it's true to one I had in Chicago. The fries are great and I loved the unique ketchups and seasonings they had, the Dog Dust makes everything taste better. We also had the broccoli cauliflower soup which was excellent. The place is in a great location near the river and by some other cool shops. Nice area to go for a walk. They also have some great cupcakes. The cooks/staff was friendly and helpful with information as we are not from the area. This is not your ordinary dog so give it a try. We will be back!

This is a fun, casual spot in the vibrant Frazier Ave. area that offers high quality hot dogs and fresh fries in an airy, unpretentious, but hip environment. It's cheap enough so that you can try a variety of options on the menu, and they make an effort to cover the entire hot dog spectrum, from the traditional to the somewhat esoteric. I definitely appreciate the ludicrous variety of condiments on offer, including hot sauces, flavored ketchups, European-style mayo, and their own special blend of spices called Dog Dust. You can literally walk out their back door into Coolidge Park, have lunch, and then continue on across the river to visit the Tennessee Aquarium and hang out downtown. It's a great place for a quick lunch or dinner and a great addition to this city. One warning: only order the large fries if you have a huge appetite or are there with a crowd. A small order is easily enough for two or three people, and of course if you want more the staff is happily willing to supply a second cone of excellent "frites."

I think the place is super cute and the food is great. I am a plain jane so i just get the Good Dog, which is just a good ole naked dog. But it was a very very tasty one. My husband got the chili slaw dog and he said it was one of the best. He liked the flavor of the hot dog an the snap that it had, it was a limp dog. The "frites" (fries) are hand cut and fried fresh for your order, so so yummy. They also make this special seasoning, i think its called dog dust, and it was so good on the fries. Along with all their homemade ketchups and dips it was very delightful. The curry ketchup was my favorite. I totally do not try new things but i went for it and i loved it! I am from Atlanta but when i go to chattannooga i will go back to Good Dog for lunch.

At $31 for 2 adults and 2 kids it's a little steep for lunch. It was also kinda slow at about 20 minutes for hot dogs. The bright spot was the hand cut fries and the girl up front. It will be a while before we come back.

What a find. Right next to the Carousel in Cooledge Park. The dog was great (grilled to perfection). They had great toppings for dad (kraut, chili, pickles), made a perfect simple dog with ketchup for the kids and had a full menu of veggie dogs and chili for my vegetarian wife. The fries were fantastic served in paper cone with gourmet ketchup (curry, wasabi), malt vinegar and hot sauce options. Whatever you do, save some room for the cupcakes. Top it all off with a fantastic owner who ensured everything was just right and a eco-friendly space with all re-purposed items. Good Dog is top dog.

The food is good (especially their assortment of ketchups - a condiment I don't normally even like), the staff is great and the ambiance quirky and fun! As an out of towner in the Chattanooga area, I had lots of time to spend trying out new restaurants and this was definitely an experience. I had the Southern Slaw Dog and the BBQ Frittes. The frittes were super yummy (a huge portion just for the small) and they dog was great. The actual hot dog itself is made of real beef and the flavor and quality definitely make a difference - the toppings make it yours and add another dimension. On top of the fun, the staff was super nice and friendly. A lot of people seem to complain about the price but I didn't think their prices were anything extraordinary for the quality and quantity of the food and the space and people who served it.

Great hot dogs. Susan the owner is frequently there and she is very nice. Great location adjacent to Coolidge Park in trendy Northshore area. You might see the colorful eatatgooddog.com car around town.

The Good Dog 34 Frazier Ave. Chattanooga Urban Dog Good Dog has pretension of being an upscale Hot Dogery. Except for fries, a few salads, sides and chili, hot dogs, bratwurst & Italian sausage are all the food that's offered. A variety of beers are available, most at "market price" a particularly weird affectation for such a place. The space is rustic by virtue of having no meaningful decoration except for Good Dog memorabilia and such (tee shirts, etc) available and heavily touted a la Hard Rock Café. Rough, paint-pealed benches and chairs abrupt tree slab tables with holes bored out to accommodate the paper cones of fries. The room reeks of frying oil. . Our chipper and chirpy server greeted us and began a lengthy recitation of the concept, toppings and awesomeness of the Dog as if indoctrinating us into a secret society. She was happy to inform how much each otherwise unlisted beer cost as one pointed to the specimens in the cooler. A basic dog is $2.75. One with chili and onions was $3.75, the "Chicago Dog" was $4.75. There are other "designed" dogs (including one with cream cheese!) or you can build your own for $0.50 per topping. Sabrett's skinless hot dogs (without the "snap" of natural casing) are a good product and cost about $0.90 retails. The overall impact of the dog with chili was good. The Chicago Dog was a travesty. It came with 2 (two) sport peppers, one at each end, 3 (three) rounds of dill pickle and scatterings of tomato, onion and neon relish. There was no uniformity of flavors once the limited items were gone. The only thing it had in common with a real Chicago dog was that it was messy to eat. Sonic's version for $1.99 is infinitely better. The two bean vegetarian chili was more of a bean soup with chunky vegetables and was boring. The fries were worse. A small size, $2.85, enough to serve two, contained flaccid fries, long out of the oil, barely warm and without crispness. As the house was empty when we arrived, I can't fathom why the fries were not made to order. Perhaps I should have asked the proprietress but she seemed too engrossed with her laptop at another table. Several ketchups were on the table; an insipid curry/sugar, a purported wasabi and a regular, one of which was needed to coax flavor out of the fries. The two dogs mentioned, two small fries, chili, two coke and a beer totaled $24. Ambiance: Poor Service: Fair Food: Poor Value: Insulting. 5-Sept, 11

I chose this spot to eat based on Yelp reviews so I feel obligated to add my opinion. I had high hopes for the food based on the reviews. First let me say the staff was super friendly and the decor was nice. I was looking forward to trying all the different sauces described in the other posts and although I did get to some - I ran out of fries too quickly. Since there were four of us we ordered the family size fries. The large was said to feed 2-3 so I figured the family size would easily do four. Well after we each got a small mound of fries there were just few left. They were good - but I guess that Five Guys has me spoiled with the amount of fries and I felt cheated. Oh well, then there is the hot dog. Now the toppings are unique and interesting and the ability to add curry ketchup is fun, BUT the dogs are small. One small dog on a regular sized bun. By the time you add toppings it is hard to find the dog. Now I would understand if they were 1.00 or 1.50, but without anything they are 2.75. The Chicago Dog with all of the various toppings is 4.50. Are they the perfect size for small children and some women? - yes. But those with hearty appetites need to order more than one. If I were to go back, I would order a large fries just for myself and then two hot dogs. PS - this is a great place for a snack or for a family with small children.

My girlfriend and I went to the Good Dog for lunch and we were completely blown away by the atmosphere, the service, and the food. Everyone working in this place was amazingly nice. I'm a sauce fanatic and the numerous possibilities of sauce combinations in this place was unbelievable. They have a wasabi ketchup, curry ketchup, homemade honey mustard, and a fritte sauce. You can mix and match these til your heart's content. I got the philly dog which has cream cheese and onions on it, suprisingly good. After trying all the sauces with my fries I had to go back and by a regular Good Dog just to put some wasabi ketchup with fritte sauce on it. AMAZING!

Today was my first time eating at the Good Dog and I really was impressed. I had a DOGGFATHER and a REUBEN. I will be back again. I would recommend this place to my friends that want great food and friendly staff. Dog Gone Good Dog

Oh, heyyyy, Good Dog. Nice to meet you. You're reminiscent of two of my favorite places in Cleveland, Ohio - a grilled cheese joint called Melt, & a hot dog bar called Happy Dog. Somehow, Good Dog manages to feel like both of these wonderful places mixed into one, making me wish I were Chattanooga local so I could come back often. A friend & I stopped into Good Dog while wandering downtown Chattanooga on a very, very cold February day. It's got great, wacky decor - old holiday-themed lawn ornaments, a wall-sized rendering of some guy's face, etc. - all of which serves to make you feel, upon entering, like Good Dog is located in a good friend's quirky apartment. My friend & I couldn't decide what we wanted, so we ordered two hot dogs to split - the DOGfather (garlic cream cheese, pesto, red peppers, & grilled peppers & onions) & the Fajita (lime cream, salsa, grilled peppers & onions, jalapeños). We were worried, after ordering, that they'd be too similar, but the pesto & jalapenos made for different enough combos that both dogs tasted completely different - & both were delicious. Flavorful, juicy, well-dressed... we wished we'd gotten another! The only downside to our visit was what I'm sure was a fluke. We placed our order at the counter then settled into a booth to wait for our food. As the restaurant started to clear out, we found that we were the only people left - & still no food. Finally, my friend approached the cashier to ask about the wait... which was when we learned that the kitchen never picked up our order. They hadn't made it yet, & they wouldn't have unless we said something. I feel like they should've noticed sooner - we were the only people in there, & we didn't have any food! - or maybe given us a cupcake to make up for it, but they were apologetic & friendly (& we weren't in any sort of a hurry), so it all worked out fine. I'm sure this was an uncommon experience, so don't base your judgments of this place on mine on that front. Summary: Good dogs, great place. Give it a go!

Found on the North shore, this place has a ton of choices to choose from. The décor is just fun to stare at and there something interesting with every corner you look. The hotdogs are good, but the challenge will always be, what do I choose this time??? The Hawaiian dog, please! Yum. Also they have a variety of add one and hot sauces. If you don't like hot dogs, the do have sausage option. And they are locally made too. And what meal is complete without a cone spilling over with fries???? Ha, I got one! As for a drink, I had the root beer from pure soda works. Very good. They do serve actual beer too and have a happy hour. I would definitely seek this place out again...

Awesome hot dog place! There isn't one I've tried that I don't love. French fries are not that great though if I'm being honest. But hot dogs are delicious.

Awesome. Great dogs, great fries, great service, trendy scene. I had the build your own meal frites with chili, avocado & mango salsa. So good I ate until I was uncomfortably full. Husband and daughter had the chili slaw dog - loved them. Friend had a Hawaiian dog - best dog she ever ate. Good beer options too. We will be back soon.

It's all in the SNAP! Oh yeah...we found only good dogs at Good Dog. I still remember the firm texture and the snap from that first bite followed by juicy deliciousness. The Goods - BRUNCH DOG topped with two poached eggs, lemon arugula, bacon, tomato and garlic cream cheese. That's right, breakfast + lunch in one for a girl on the go! A fun combo worth trying. (4/5 for creativity) CHILI CHEESE SLAW DOG - the name says it all. Contrast in textures and temperatures with the crisp slaw and the savory chili topping. This isn't your typical Varsity dog. (3/5 classic and reliable) PIMENTO CHEESE DOG - with homemade pimento cheese, fritessaus (mayo) and tomato. An instant fave for my BF. (5/5 because pimento cheese can do no wrong) Only 16 other hot dogs varieties to try before checking out the breakfast options.

They have put a twist on hotdogs that will amaze you. All the way from a BigMac dog to one that taste like nachos. Service is great and they take the time to explain all the different varieties that they have mastered. A must try if you are a dog fan.

I read today in a local paper that they stuff their own sausage. So I saw that and 20 minutes after work I was there. I talked to the young lady that does the stuffing and we really had a good chat about sausage. From spice collections to how to and what types. I ordered the chorizo sausage and some fries. The tables in this place have 4 holes cut into the tangles for your fries. How cool is that? Then the chorizo came out and it's was a little dry. The cause was they blanch their sausages or par cook them for those of you from Rosalinda. The bun was stone cold and kind of tough. But, the chorizo had a good flavor and the dog as a whole was retry darn good. I will say that my chorizo is much redder there theirs. Different recipe I guess? I will return maybe in the morning for some breakfast sausage dishes.

Quality food, helpful staff, and bursts of flavor all make a delicious experience. We just happened on this place as we were in town for a day. I am always looking for great gourmet dogs and this is tops in my book. Wish I lived closer, but if I did I would be at Good Dog all too often. We enjoyed the Pimento Cheese dog and the DOGfather dog with the cream cheese. The bun was just basic dog bun though it was very, very fresh. The dog was a what you would expect from a dog. It was grilled and juicy. The toppings are what set this place off. I love a gourmet dog and have had a lot, but I have never had toppings like this. Not only are they different, but they are fresh. There is no processed, neon green relish here. Don't miss Good Dog Hot Dogs. The food and people are great.
