This place was okay. It by no means blew my socks off, but I enjoyed my steak nachos. The meat was tasty.

First time in. Portions were large, food was hot, tasty, and fast. Breakfast burritos are awesome. Lady at register was very friendly, space seems clean and the salsa bar was a plus. Nachos and cheese, not my style. Cheese was pretty thin but still tasty. Could have a wider beer selection but I'm glad they have beer at all. I will return.

I really really like this place. Wish they were open for dinner though. They originated out of San Diego, CA, which is right on the US/Mexico border, so trust me, they know tacos. I tried 3 different kinds and they were all yummy good. Would definitely go back more if it were open later during the day/evening.

Ok - overall, I'd say two stars but as they have been open just under a month, I will go with three. First, I've noticed this new spot on Market St downtown a few times and been confused about the time(s) it is open - this article may help if it is accurate: nooga.com/166196/el-mach… . . . On my day off and yes, being a clichéd person wanting queso etc on Cinco de Mayo, and being nearby well - they were open so I tried. Apparently, the family run restaurant group that owns them started in CA and there are currently multiple locations in different states. Cool. I miss my Atlanta "quick spots" (I would almost put this under the fast food category because it is a Willy's lite concept) and was happy to see a taco/burrito/and such place now open downtown. Pros - Good prices. Good queso in two sizes (I got the small, for $2 and change) - the quick, tasty, white (and just slightly jalapeno-spicy kind I like), nothing fancy. A small but decently selected menu. Nice people work here. Good flavor to the meat on the steak taco I got - and their tacos include (standardly) guac and pico - hmm, interesting plus! Free swap out for tomatoes not pico for me, also cool. Cons - The place still looks unfinished. Not sure quite where they are going with the décor - or why the ceiling tiles still have drink prices and recipes (For mixed drinks) chalked in - a leftover from prior owners...one of those things a detail-oriented person like me makes me think they were trying to open too fast, before all was quite ready. Staff trying to be friendly above correct - the key is both; I NEVER eat corn tortillas, i ordered flour per usual and I got corn. An easy thing but hopefully not an overlooked one - I didn't have time to get them remade - and also, here is one thing restaurants often do wrong -not everyone wants another item remade - because it is too much food. i made do with putting the steak etc onto my chips and making a bootleg version of nachos - but this is one of those small things that should be right. Skimpy selection of salsa options on the salsa bar - though one is a yummy pineapple option. Since it's so convenient for me, I will likely give them another try (and confirm i got flour torts before first bite) and see if the stars align.

Great Mexican with HUGE portions! I was looking for a breakfast place before appointments and stumbled into El Macho Taco. They have absolutely huge breakfast burritos for $4! Stuffed with ingredients and very good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. A nice plus- they have free wifi! Great place - definitely try it out!!

Very good food- cooked to order, fresh, and yummy! I got the quesadilla and my husband got the tacos. We also got the queso. Chips were hot, queso was good but a little more watery than I like. We loved it so much, went back for breakfast. Breakfast burritos are large, filling, and delightful. Would go back every day for those alone if I could!

All of the meats that I have tried here - pork and chicken, to date - have been incredibly well seasoned and tasty. This is a huge plus when you're trying to eat clean and just want to enjoy the fresh flavors of a salad with pico and guac and you're not piling on cheese and sour cream to everything. Great flavors. Very fresh. Friendly staff. You can't go wrong here. It's my favorite of the downtown Mexican options. Well done, El Macho Taco!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
