Geeeeez, this place was great. Who knew that vegan food could taste so good!? I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian. The taste was fantastic, ambiance is neat, food took a while to get but worth it. The menu changes daily (or so I'm told), so it's limited but everything's good.

Food is pretty decent and the mock-meats really do taste like meat (whatever it is). However, if environment gets any consideration, it doesn't strike me as the cleanest place on earth, and I'm not even a germophobe. Don't get me wrong, I love a dirty hole in the wall as much as the next guy, but I doubt I'll go back to this place.

I'm only giving 4 stars instead of five because I'd like to see a larger menu. Go here and get the philly; you won't be disappointed.

Alright lets be honest - if you like meat, vegan food is not great. That being said the food was pretty bland but comparable to other vegan food I've eaten. I went with a number of vegetarians and no one particularly liked the food. Service is good and the establishment has a great African decor. Whoever said that the mock meat tasted like real meat has obviously forgotten the taste of meat.

My new favorite restaurant. Hands down. Had the bbq "meatballs," bok choy and sweet potato souffle. Everything was amazingly delicious vegan southern-style food (who knew?) and everyone there was so friendly. I plan on taking everyone I know to this place. I might even try to make new friends so that I can take them there. Trust me: even if you think you're not into vegan food, I can't recommend this place enough.

BEST VEGAN FOOD THIS SIDE OF ATLANTA! Offers a soul/african kick on some of mama's favorites. Service was great, even with a steady lunch crowd! Atmosphere offered a good afrocentric vibe with great music. I had the spaghetti which came with two sides on my first visit. My friend had the citrus ribs with brown rice. Both choices were BEYOND delicious! I give them four stars only because a drink did not come with the meal and the menu is still fairly limited, but I cannot wait to go back! If you are vegetarian you will love it!!!

Excellent vegan restaurant. I had bbq tofu with cabbage. Great food and big portions for a reasonable price. There are not many vegan places around - and I am not a vegan myself - but this is a well-kept secret that is well worth the visit.

Get in here ASAP! Delicious food and really friendly people. I"m from Charleston and will be driving back up for more of this!

Wow, great textures and even greater flavor. Came here for lunch on a recommendation. Can see why my friend raved about this place. Friendly but prompt service. Will be coming back before I leave town.

Don't let the exterior fool you, this restaurant has fabulous home made vegan food, friendly staff and decent prices. If you are a vegan you will love it!!

Wonderful place! Great, healthy, and hearty food. We found this place thanks to Yelp while driving down to Florida. We loved it and it's just 8 minutes off the interstate. The owner was friendly and the service was fast.

This place is a vegan restaurant with an African flair. It is also a juice bar. The sides are very good. I recommend the Goddess Mac. The proteins were pretty good but I often prefer vegetables and fruits to the soy products anyways.

so, i'm a meat eater. i'm a meat eater that eats other meat eaters. i take pride in eating any part of any animal. so i was a little hesitant about going to a vegan place of food. i have some vegetarian friends that are planning to come and visit me and i was concerned over their nourishment, so i joined a vegetarian meet-up and my first outing was to Lamb's Bread on main. i'm amazed to say, but it was damn good! i love soul food and southern cooking and this hit the spot. i had the "large dinner plate" which is basically the southern "meat and three veggies." veggies: butternut squash, cabbage, candied yams, and yellow rice. meats: bar-b-q tofu and mock ribs medley. now, if you're from the south you know about boiling a vegetable down to where it's soft and then plopping butter in it. i am a fan of this. this restaurant didnt quite do it like that. the squash was soft but still firm, had a bit of a sweet taste to it. the cabbage was closer to boiled down, still firm (how do they do that??), no butter, fresh taste that had a nice tart seasoning to it. the candied yams were on a bit on the dry side, but thinly sliced so it's not like you'd choke on them. sweet and cinnamon flavored. the rice was done with the perfect consistency. when i asked the woman at the counter (owner?) which meat she recommended she just said she'd give me a little of each and let me decide. very nice, very considerate and sweet. the bbq tofu was enjoyable, obviously tofu, but had that tangy bbq sauce that you look for when you crave bbq. and the mock ribs were great! good blend of tangy and sweet. with red bell peppers and onions sauteed in them. the plate was huge, i was stuffed! i had the blueberry lemonade that was wonderful as well. now, we're not talkin bout nestea lemonade mixed with blueberry koolaid. it was blueberry-ade really. i do believe it is now my favorite drink ever. my estimation of vegan cooking has gone up! thanks for rockin my world!

I'm working right nearby this summer, and while I normally bring my lunch I was caught one day without one when my lunch plans fell through. I looked around on Google for something walkable that took cards and this place popped up. I have one thing to say: you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't go. I wish I'd known about this place when I was a student here in town. Excellent vegan food (three words I rarely say together, haha) in a meat-and-three style. If I hadn't known the mock ribs were mock I never would've guessed, and the home fries, rice, and curry potatoes (...I really like potatoes) were delicious. Lunch cost me about $9; not something I'd do every day on an intern's budget but I'm going to have to make it back there again before I leave Columbia again.

So I thought I would venture out to try another vegan eater in the area. It was OK. Service was fine and the food was palatable. Portions were below my expectations for the money. I wouldn't go out of my way to make the trek back there.

LOVED IT! I don't typically seek out "home-cookin" type restaurants, but everyone (even non vegetarians/vegans) has been ranting and raving about how delicious the food at Lamb's Bread is and how nice the staff are. Last Saturday a friend of mine posted a pic of their Philly "cheesesteak" on Facebook, and I was starvingggggg so I said - I'm going NOW!!! Made the short trek just outside of downtown, there was 1 spot left in front of the building (I saw others parking at the building next door). I went in knowing I wanted the cheesesteak and Mac & cheese... They were playing Bob Marley (which instantly reminded me of my fav hippie ski town - Girdwood!) and had various art displayed. The dry erase board behind the register lists the day's protein as well as desserts, sides, sandwiches and drinks (non alcoholic). The guy who took my order advised me that the Philly takes longer than anything else on the menu and there would be a wait... I agreed that there wasn't an issue with that (good things come to those who wait). I'm so glad I waited - everything was so delicious - minus the cupcake (IMO it was flavorless and the icing had a strange under-taste (see pics). I can't wait to go back!! Lamb's Bread makes it easy to go Vegan!!!

Visited this place for the first time today. The decor is right up my alley with lots of African, Egyptian, and Indian flair. I said to them that "you know you are doing something right when you can serve food on a paper plate and get a 5 star rating online." I had the Kung pao "chicken" great texture and delicious taste. The sides were all equally delicious, curry potatoes, red cabbage, macaroni and "cheese" were all delicious. I loved every bite. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Daniel H.

Delicious food! Such a pleasant atmosphere for a vegan restaurant (I've been to many pompous vegan places). The "chicken" Kung Pao was amazing & the Mac 'n "cheese" was out of this world! Such friendly and helpful staff too. This will be one of my regular restaurants in Columbia from now on!

  • Kasey B.

If you are looking for home cooked souther food that's not only good for you but vegan, get over to this place. It's a family business and the food and drinks are out of this world. Don't worry about what the place looks like on the outside, it's what is in the inside that matters. Menu changes daily with fresh foods

    (5)
  • Robert V.

OK so I'll say right up front that I'm not a fan of the vegan version of meat dishes. Despite the great effort it just can't compare to the deliciousness of real meat! That out of the way, I'll say that this is an excellent local spot for good veggies, friendly service, good atmosphere, and AMAZING cupcakes!

  • Elizabeth R.

I use to love this place, but since the changing of the hands a few years ago, it has gone down hill. The ambiance is all but gone, I don't feel like I am walking into a really 'special' place any more. The menu was cut back so far that there aren't options like there us to be, not good. The service is awful I don't feel welcome like I use to, and that in itself makes me want to stay away. How ever, the food is still top notch, her daddy taught her well, so I will still go in occasionally and grab take out.

Fantastic vegan food. If you're looking for southern vegan food this place is your eatery. The Mac and Cheese is amazing!!! The staff members are wonderful. The customer service is great. They always make you feel "at home". My friends and I usually try to eat here at least once a week, and you should too!

  • Andy S.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lives locally. I was passing through and was told not to miss stopping here. 100% right! I've visited vegan restaurants all over the country and this is one of the best. Incredibly sweet staff, amazing food, all in a down home comfortably environment. I'll definitely be back!

Mac & cheese, beef patty, and curry potatoes are really good. The blueberry mango smoothie is on par and the Philly is just delicious (order it! ). The staff is helpful and delightful.

Lamb's Bread is a weekly staple in our life in Columbia. The food is amazing. It's not "good for vegan food"- it's just GOOD. Some absolute must-haves are the mac and cheese, the curry chicken special, any variety of beans or peas, the candied yams, the chicken salad, the Philly cheesesteak, the house burger, and the pineapple ginger lemonade. To sum it up: you'll likely be impressed with every menu item and you'll wish you could figure out what makes the recipes so uniquely delicious.

  • Briana R.

Delicious vegan food! Everyone was very helpful and we were even able to try a sample of the mock BBQ spare ribs before purchasing our meal. I was very pleased and the strawberry limeade was to die for. Even my non-vegan friend enjoyed his "chicken" salad over lettuce. I will be returning!

We were passing through on a trip from Cincinnati to the Carolinas, and we had selected this place as a good dinner spot. It would be very helpful if they had a menu posted online - their Facebook page posted some of their daily specials, but it doesn't look like this has been updated since May? However, I would by no means let this discourage you from stopping in for a visit. They look to have a couple of protein specials daily along with a collection of sides and sandwiches. I went with the "Smothered" Chicken with a side of mac and cheese and seasoned potatoes. Good stuff! The hubs had a Philly Cheesesteak with Candied Yams and was not disappointed. Everything seems like it's prepared fresh in the kitchen - good quality, home-style cooking!

This place ruled. Great staff great food. If I lived on the east coast this would be a regular stop of mine. I will be coming here every time I am in the area.

Positives: I had the tempeh Reuben sandwich and it was very good along with my sides (greens). The cook that I ordered from was very polite, sweet, and friendly. (Update: I went back for a second visit and my food was outstanding! Everything was completely tasty, hot, perfectly seasoned, and wholesome!) Drawbacks: The menu is very limited and you don't know what you are going to get until you get there. There is no printed menu. (Update: I noticed that they now post their menu daily on Facebook.) I agree with some of the others that as a first time customer, it was very confusing as to how this restaurant "works." Instead of waiting to be seated (which no one is available to greet or direct you), you are supposed to go to the "kitchen counter," read the hand-written board for today's offerings, and then wait for someone to "appear" to place your order. Then they disappear behind a curtain and prepare your meal. So you are supposed to have a seat and they bring it to you. You also go back to the "kitchen counter" to pay. However, no one directs you to any of this which is rather odd. The staff that refills drinks wasn't unfriendly, but they also don't speak to you either. Overall review: Food=really good. Process/service="odd." Should you try it? Sure. Just don't be surprised if you are kind-of "weirded out" by the whole arrangement. (Update: I'm going to definitely go back and grab some carry out!)

This place is awesome! I've eaten the vegan cheesesteak twice and would say it is one of the best in the city (and that means ones made of steak and cheese too). The sides are great. I've also done a veggie plate. It's hard to believe this stuff is vegan! Can't wait to come back!

  • Ricardo S.

It's such a big pleasure ! Can't understand how is possible their potatoes taste so good, and they just have some lemon. The beans, the vegan meat and the vegan version of macaroni and cheese. Do like the music, gives a very nice atmosphere.

I've been a vegetarian for nearly ten years and decided to give this place a try after finding it through Groupon. When I first walked in the decor threw me off a bit, but after I realized we had indeed walked into the right place I was excited by the find. There were many delicious sounding options to choose from, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I went with the tempeh reuben and mac n "cheese". It wasn't the best tempeh I've ever had but was still pretty good. The mac had a great hint of spicy that I really enjoyed. It all had that nice home-cooked element to it as opposed to the over-the-top veg places I'm used to. Overall, I'd say it was a good experience. I wouldn't mind going again, but I wouldn't say I'm in a rush to. Definitely a good idea if you're interested on a soul food/home cooked style of vegan cuisine.

Loved, loved, loved this place the atmosphere was ethnic and the food was Excellent! I had the mock ribs and cabbage ....delicious! The portion was appropriate for the price. A must try for folks who like vegan soul food!!!

Four things I look for when assessing a restaurant: 1.) Atmosphere: Does this place make me feel at home? Or do I want to run for cover? 2.) Food Quality: Is the food visually appealing and tasty? Or does the food just make me want to throw up? 3.) Service: Does the server warmly acknowledge me? Or do they look at me like they want to punch me in the throat for showing up? 4.) Price: Am I paying too much for too little? Or vice versa? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Atmosphere** Lamb's Bread Vegan Café has an Afrocentric flavor that is very unique. Tribal masks and African art adorn the walls and shelves. Various genres of Soul music accompanies the background noise. This restaurant is a simple "hole in the wall" joint that make you feel like you are having lunch at your Afrocentric/Artsy/Trendy Sister's house. I dig the vibe! **Food Quality** I never thought in a million years that Soul Food could actually be healthy and vegan! But, Lamb's Bread showed me different. Classic Soul Food choices (e.g., Mac and Cheese) populate the menu. Yet, the "classic - ness" (I know that is not a word, but work with me on this) has a vegan twist. The food was delicious (please try the Mac and Cheese!) and very visually appealing with all the bright colors. **Service** I did not feel unwelcome, but I was not enveloped in passionate love either. But granted, this was in the middle of the day on a Monday, and I am not the most enthusiastic person at that time of the day. So I understand.... The meal was served in a timely manner, and the lady at the counter was informative about the menu choices. The only thing that threw me off was I had to prepay for my lunch. This is the first restaurant ever where I had to prepay! It was a little strange. I felt like a criminal before I even had my food! **Price** The prices ranged anywhere from $9 to $15. All restaurants tend to be a tad expensive anyway. I mean, come on, the majority of us can make the foods created in the restaurants. But, you don't go to a restaurant only for the food. You also go for the experience. Overall, the experience and the price matched relatively well. Therefore, I did not feel ripped off. Would I recommend this restaurant? Sure! If you want to try some good Vegan Soul Food, then yes, come to Lamb's Bread. I wasn't overwhelmed with awe, but I wasn't consumed with dislike. So I would come back every Blue Moon. I give the restaurant a B+.

First visit here and I will be back. Funky decor and friendly staff. Mandarin Orange "Chicken" is great. The sauce is good without being overly sweet. Collards were nicely seasoned, a little on the sweet side, but I like that. The sesame ginger okra had a kick to it. I'm glad I tried the mac & cheese. It was great and I didn't miss the real cheese!

Oh my! I had no idea, I figured there is no way in hell the Columbia SC would have a vegan restaurant and if they did, I figured it wouldn't be very good. I WAS SO WRONG. I had the sweet and spicy ribs over rice, candied yams, purple cabbage, Mac and cheese and sorell to drink. It is all amazing! Seriously, you should go, vegan or not.

  • Apearl C.

Let me start this by saying I LOVE MEAT. I am very much a carnivore. I was visiting my mother in Columbia, I'm from Atlanta, she suggested that we eat here. She eats here regularly, but rarely eats meat. So I was skeptical. The food was actually really good. I had "beef" tips and my daughter had "chicken" drumstick. Both were very tasty. The sides were delicious.

This is hands down some of the best food I've ever eaten! It's not just good vegan food, it's just amazing food period. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was absolutely delicious!! Do not be scared off by the humble dining room...go in and enjoy!

    (5)
  • Erin T.

The absolute best vegan food I've ever had. Hell, some of the best food I've ever had period. Sorrell & strawberry limeade were so excellent. Candied yams & red cabbage was spectacular. But the mac n'cheese though? Unbelievable! Our group went back for 2 more orders! My husband, who is a militant carnivore, was blown away. We'd eat here every day if we lived in Columbia. Staff was super cool too.

  • Allison G.

Very casual and relaxed atmosphere, the cook is an amazing lady, extremely friendly and very talented. The food here drove me to create this tell account just so I could recommend this restaurant to others. Absolutely delicious, you'd forget it's vegan. I ordered the chicken curry with red cabbage, macaroni and cheese and candied yams. I also tried a vegan cupcake, ginger hibiscus juice and their blueberry smoothie. I will definitely be bringing my friends back here, the food was seriously delicious. The restaurant itself is sort of out in the boonies but it's honestly one of Columbia's hidden gems.

  • M A.

I ordered the protein with three sides: BBQ Ribs, Mac n Cheese, Yams, and Collard Greens. I can only say they taste ok, and I did not care for the yams at all. The BBQ rib pieces had a good flavor and was over rice. The Mac n Cheese was also good. The yams had a zesty taste to them that I did not like. The greens were a little too sweet for my taste. I was looking forward to a treat given the reviews; however, I actually bought something else to eat because I did not care enough for it. Parking is minimum and tricky off the main road. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and the time I went it was not busy at all - only one person sitting in to eat while others were in and out with takeout orders. The kitchen area looked un-kept. I could not tell where the food was cooked and they were making takeout dishes from a buffet style heating plate area. If you're looking for something different then this is a place to go.

  • Erin S.

You don't have to be vegan to love this food. The tempeh Reuben is always one of my favorites along with the goddess mac. And the lady who works at the counter is always so kind and friendly. They offer other smoothies and juices along with lunch specials. Definitely try it out.

Best vegan food in Columbia! The food and juices are always amazing and everyone that works there is always so kind and pleasant!

I did not expect much from this place, but it was GREAT. Four of us shared a tempeh reuben, and a sesame beef platter with three sides. We ordered the rest of the sides on the menu as well. The strawberry lemonade was delicious. We live in Baltimore and were passing through. We try highly rated vegan restaurants everywhere we travel, and this certainly sticks out at the top for me. This food is clearly made by someone who knows how to cook vegetables in a delicious, home-style way. Beautifully done, lovingly made food. The woman at the counter was especially nice to our children, as was the man who served us. The girls actually went back and ordered two more sides of lima beans, they were so good. But so was everything else. Bravo. Keep up the great work! Thanks for being so nice, too.

I love Lamb's Bread. As I made my transition into veganism, Lamb's Bread helped me make that transition. All of their dishes have been top notch and their cupcakes are to die for. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Definitely a must-go for anyone living in or visiting Columbia, SC.

    (5)
  • Malory C.

I could go on and on about how amazing Lamb's Bread is but I'll try to keep it simple: the entrees and sides are uniquely seasoned to perfection. I daydream about the mac and cheese and the okra. This place is a MUST-TRY. I hope one of these days they'll expand to serving brunch, too!!

    My wife and I drove out from Augusta, GA just for lunch today. Our first trip to Lamb's Bread, but it surely won't be the last. Kung Pao Chicken over brown rice with a side of mustard greens, red cabbage and macaroni and cheese. Everything was so good I wish now I'd have ordered more to go and brought some home. If you're a vegan in this part of the country, you know how hard it is to find a good place to eat out. Lamb's Bread Vegan Cafe' is THE place to visit. We will be back, and often. {And listening to Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's music during lunch kept a smile on my face...}

Best vegan food I've had in years since I moved out from Los Angeles. The collards are AMAZING! And so are the cupcakes :P Even if you aren't vegan, are afraid to try it, or want something different definitely give this place a shot!

This food is like medicine, true medicine for the mind, body, and soul. That tastes great! I have been coming here for 5 years, used to live in Columbia then moved to Myrtle Beach. This place is one of the only things i miss next to my family. Any time I am in town I stop by the Oracles on broad river to see Khuru and to Lambs Bread Vegan to see Folami and have there delicious food. Being in the south the diet that people are accustomed to I would say isn't the healthiest. Fried and deep fried flesh, starches and what have you. This place is a gateway for people who have created those habits to try what they are familiar with but vegan. Everything is fresh the portions are huge. Weather you eat meat or not you will find something here that you will find tasty and nourishing. They even have vegan cupcakes and amazing fresh juices.

  • Jeff C.

Awesome place. Great vegan food that will easily win over non-vegans. Very friendly service from the attentive staff, tasty food that came out quickly with lots of inventive veggies and meat substitutes. Cons? Not many, but I would list not having a kid's menu as one, as the place isn't exactly cheap and the drink prices seemed a bit high (3 bucks for unsweet tea?) But that will most definitely not sway me from returning many times over! Yum!

  • Gary G.

The place is not much to look at, but the food is really great. Not a vegan, but who cares when the food is this good. Mock chicken and great veggie sides. I will go back for seconds and thirds.

Bit pricey. But excellent food.. Ordered barbecue chicken and few sides.. Tasted great.. Downside - low options

I just made an account so I could review this wonderful place! I absolutely love it here. The atmosphere is really low key and the staff are nice and so friendly. They are a bit pricey, but they are locally owned and the food portions are nice and filling. I'm a vegetarian, and their "cheesesteak" is the best! I'm not going to lie. They have the best potatoes I have ever tried in a very long time as well. Definitely check them out. You won't regret it!

I experimented with veganism for a few months and was excited to discover this hidden gem! Tempeh reuben = 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up. I loved the unique atmosphere, and the staff was super friendly and helpful when it came to deciding what to order. Vegans and non-vegans alike are missing out if they don't give this place a try!

Alright, as a recent nutrarian (not exactly a vegan, a little more strict in areas of oil, fat, sugar, but less in overall animal products) I am tired of trying to eat at "vegan" restaurants. Why can't there there just be healthy vegetarian/vegan food instead of trying to replicate carnivore options without meat that aren't very healthy. I had the reuben and while it tasted alright (too much thousand island dressing) it just left me disappointed. No direction from the staff as whether to seat yourself or order at the window. We waisted 5 minutes.

  • Travis M.

I did a quick search and found this spot. I picked up the Tempeh Rueben and lima beans. I was impressed with the quality of food that I got. First, there were so many options that it took me a little while to see what I wanted to try. I will be going back this week to try the Un-Ribs. Dude behind the bar was very nice and explained what the big attractions were. Don't miss this if you're looking for some interesting vegan options!

Tasteless and overcooked veggies! This veggie plate was not seasoned well. The $11 paid for 2 tbsp of 4 sides was outrageous! Skip this place!

  • Ananda Z.

So intrigued by this place. And I am so glad it exists... I just wish it was a little more whole-food and little less meaty substitutes. We had spaghetti, Curried potatoes, kale, Ethiopian meat-substitute, corn, sweet potatoes. It was all okay. The Ethiopian spiced meat substitute was really flavorful, but all the rest was kind of bland... like a cafeteria meat and three. :( So close to awesome--maybe just a little less deep-soak southern simmering, and a little more whole, bright veggies & fruits. But they are SO friendly. And what an interesting atmosphere. And the Basil lemonade--YUM! I think we'll give them another try in the near future.

Had lunch here today for the first time. Quite a delight! Had the (MOCK) Garlic Chicken, Collards, and Potatoes. MANNNNNNN, I was Stuffed! They give you quite a bit of food for your money at this place. I know it is a weird complaint, but I wish I would have known! LOL I mean seriously, this was more so comparable to some down-home-style cooking. I felt more like I was at the house of a close family friend than at a restaurant. The entire staff checked on me very regularly which I loved. But not so much as to annoy me. Perfect balance. I will definitely be returning to this place upon future trips to Columbia. Last words....GO HUNGRY and PREPARED TO BE PLEASED.

This place is great - the flavor of the proteins and sides are fantastic. The BBQ "ribs" were smokey and savory and my favorite side were the collard greens slightly sweet and spicy. Service was prompt and exceptionally friendly. I'll be a weekly patron for sure.

Love this place, and it's gotten even better since the recent re-opening. I always encourage all my friends to try this place out especially if they aren't even vegan. I have two words for this place - Yes! and Go! Seriously, the consistent five star reviews are there for a reason. ABSOLUTELY DE-LI-CIOUS food! Great atmosphere and service too! I understand their menu changes a lot but if this is on the list when you go in, give their mock rib medly a try, it will not disappoint. They said they make it with soy. Great texture and mouthwatering flavor! I also love the large assortment of hot sauces. As a spice lover, I never say no to making my food more firey and having so many great sauces to choose from was a bonus. The last thing I have to say is though the food is filling for some reason your waist will not expand! Yaaay! I mean anytime I go to an Italian, Mexican or Indian restaurant and leave stuffed, my jeans get too tight and my belly bulges, but not here! I ate so much that I couldn't finish my plate yet I got home a few hours later and my stomach wasn't protruded! YES, I was haaaaapy! Can't wait to go back for more tasty food!

I've been to a lot (a LOT) of vegetarian restaurants in and out of the US, and this is one of my favorites. The food is always so flavorful and so, so filling and comforting. The lady at Lambs Bread is always so funny and welcoming. All around a perfect place to grab a good meal!

Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Atmosphere: 1 Staff: 5 Go here. I don't care if you're not vegan, you cannot order a bad thing from Lamb's Bread. The environment is weird as all get out, but what else can you expect. Seriously. Go.

  • John B.

    (5)
  • Ricardo S.

It's such a big pleasure ! Can't understand how is possible their potatoes taste so good, and they just have some lemon. The beans, the vegan meat and the vegan version of macaroni and cheese. Do like the music, gives a very nice atmosphere.

    (3)
  • Erin S.

You don't have to be vegan to love this food. The tempeh Reuben is always one of my favorites along with the goddess mac. And the lady who works at the counter is always so kind and friendly. They offer other smoothies and juices along with lunch specials. Definitely try it out.

    (5)

    My wife and I drove out from Augusta, GA just for lunch today. Our first trip to Lamb's Bread, but it surely won't be the last. Kung Pao Chicken over brown rice with a side of mustard greens, red cabbage and macaroni and cheese. Everything was so good I wish now I'd have ordered more to go and brought some home. If you're a vegan in this part of the country, you know how hard it is to find a good place to eat out. Lamb's Bread Vegan Cafe' is THE place to visit. We will be back, and often. {And listening to Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's music during lunch kept a smile on my face...}

Yum!

The place is not much to look at, but the food is really great. Not a vegan, but who cares when the food is this good. Mock chicken and great veggie sides. I will go back for seconds and thirds.

Oh and its family ran, and they are friendly.

This place is a vegan restaurant with an African flair. It is also a juice bar. The sides are very good. I recommend the Goddess Mac. The proteins were pretty good but I often prefer vegetables and fruits to the soy products anyways.

The blueberry mango smoothie is on par and the Philly is just delicious (order it! ). The staff is helpful and delightful.

so, i'm a meat eater. i'm a meat eater that eats other meat eaters. i take pride in eating any part of any animal. so i was a little hesitant about going to a vegan place of food. i have some vegetarian friends that are planning to come and visit me and i was concerned over their nourishment, so i joined a vegetarian meet-up and my first outing was to Lamb's Bread on main. i'm amazed to say, but it was damn good! i love soul food and southern cooking and this hit the spot. i had the "large dinner plate" which is basically the southern "meat and three veggies." veggies: butternut squash, cabbage, candied yams, and yellow rice. meats: bar-b-q tofu and mock ribs medley. now, if you're from the south you know about boiling a vegetable down to where it's soft and then plopping butter in it. i am a fan of this. this restaurant didnt quite do it like that. the squash was soft but still firm, had a bit of a sweet taste to it. the cabbage was closer to boiled down, still firm (how do they do that??), no butter, fresh taste that had a nice tart seasoning to it. the candied yams were on a bit on the dry side, but thinly sliced so it's not like you'd choke on them. sweet and cinnamon flavored. the rice was done with the perfect consistency. when i asked the woman at the counter (owner?) which meat she recommended she just said she'd give me a little of each and let me decide. very nice, very considerate and sweet. the bbq tofu was enjoyable, obviously tofu, but had that tangy bbq sauce that you look for when you crave bbq. and the mock ribs were great! good blend of tangy and sweet. with red bell peppers and onions sauteed in them. the plate was huge, i was stuffed! i had the blueberry lemonade that was wonderful as well. now, we're not talkin bout nestea lemonade mixed with blueberry koolaid. it was blueberry-ade really. i do believe it is now my favorite drink ever. my estimation of vegan cooking has gone up! thanks for rockin my world!
