Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Decent food and reasonable prices for the amount they give.

Moe's downtown is the cleanest, quickest and tastiest Moe's I've been to. It's about on-par with the one in Mt. P, and MUCH better than the one in West Ashley. The prices are great, especially for lunch. Lines can get a bit long during peak times, but that's expected for anywhere downtown. There are places to sit, but the setup makes it odd. You'll have people waiting in line right by your table, so I tend to order to go. The staff is always nice and tends to remember you if you go a few times, which is both nice and a little embarrassing ;) If you're a light eater like me, or have kids, go for one of the kid's meals: a cheese quesadilla with a drink and a cookie for $5.50!

Delicious! We love Moe's and we like to go on Mondays to get discounted burritos. My husband and I get the Joey Jr with a side of queso. It's always plenty of food and very fresh. Staff is friendly and gets your food made quickly. The restaurant was very clean. No complaints here!

Its tough to make the decision to come here with so much good food in town but I've been here a few times simply because we knew we could get in and out in 10 minutes and were strapped for time. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. While its affordable a trip through these doors relinquishes the chance of tasting any flavor in meat. All the meats are bland here although the salsa can be good. The chips are poor, low grade and the guacamole tastes like it was just pulled out of a fridge from when it was made a few days ago. Meanwhile you can get a burrito or quesadilla and a drink with those crappy chips for fewer than $10 and if you're a college student or a guy in need of a quick bite you're ok with the value to sacrafice flavor.

Moe's is great, but not this one. I go to Moe's a lot, but this one skimps you on everything: meat, chips, queso, etc. You're definitely better off at their North Charleston or Summerville locations. If you have to go to this one, don't let them give you sub-standard portions.

Moe's boots you out before you finish your meal, with no refund, if they think you're a Democrat. Info here - fitsnews.com/2014/09/17/…

My burrito tasted like hypocrisy, hate, and the Koch brothers' undies. It was also loaded with cheesy lies from Fox News. If you believe in justice and equality, chances are they will kick you out before you can finish your food.

The greatest eating establishment in the whole world. Cheap Tex mex, deliciously marinated tofu, a new space age soda machine (Coca Cola Remix, which all the Moe's locations have now, I believe), a highly central location, free chips and salsa bar, dreamy employees... what more could one ask for?

Standard Moe's quality. I frequent this place on Mondays for the burrito special, but seldom otherwise. Love the location across from Marion Square.

Tex-mex type food - nachos burritos, tacos, fajitas, all with pop culture names. I love the Billy Barou (nachos) - eat there at least once a week. This location is a block away from CofC, so it's a great place to go and watch the "parade" of co-eds :-) . Every Monday they have $6.00 burrito combos, and the burritos are always huge (20 oz. or so.) The staff are friendly and helpful too.

1 star. Chipotle is across the street - it's fast, clean, and great! Sadly customer service doesn't exist at Moe's anymore. I had a problem with their online ordering system. They knew I had placed the order, but said it didn't print, so they didn't make - they suggested I call their third party app people to make sure I wasn't charged. Well, I was charged for it. I went back the next day after confirming the charge with my bank to ask for a refund. I was first told I'd have to deal with their online ordering 3rd party. I suggested they just make me the order I never got the day before, they didn't want to do that because they couldn't confirm they were paid by their own third party. Worst part is, they knew all this, same people watched it happen, one of the employees got it, agreed and laughed. This happened and they didn't make it right. I don't know who got my money but it's gone. Not worth the fight at this point. I'm headed across the street.

cheap prices + ok grab and go mexican food = need calories before more walking? good cheap place here I wouldn't seek this place out by any means but it did serve its purpose of getting me some good cheap food while on the go. The salsa I didn't like but I might be picky about my salsa

Rude ownership. Lousy food. Eating out of the gutter is a better experience.

No "welcome to Moe's" when I entered. I ordered the chicken club QUESADILLA and was told that I had to take it is "as is" no modifications. I wasn't asked to choose between whole wheat or flour tortilla. When I paid the total was something dollars and eight cents. I gave the cashier my bills and before I had a chance to offer her eight cents she handed me back a handful of change and the other girl said it was too late to give my loose change. I was not impressed with the food. I woke the next morning and found it coming out of me with a vengeance.. I spent the next three hour close to the toilet. Mind you I hadn't eaten after my meal at Moe's so I know that was the cause of my food poisoning. Buyer beware! Where's the management in this store? I doubt I'll go there again.

Really enjoyed some cheap wholesome goodness here on our trip to Charleston. We'd been craving Chipotle and this place hit the spot. Kids loved it!

Good enough for a Moe's, nothing extraordinary happened here. This place is one of my vices, as I love the big burrito joints. The new corn salsa is surprisingly bland, and disappointing. I do love their hot hot sauce though (though the name escapes me).

I live in Seattle, WA, and was in South Carolina on a week long vacation. My first meal off the plane was Moe's (a local recommended it). I came back every day (sometimes twice a day) that I was there. Sometimes I dream about the friendly employees shouting their welcome, the expertly crafted burritos, the never-ending salsa bar. But then I wake up, and realize I am on the other side of the country. This perfect meal is out of my reach, but if you are anywhere near a Moe's right now I urge you to never take it for granted. You can sleep soundly tonight knowing that you are never far from happiness. I no longer have that luxury. Seriously though, go eat here. It's brilliant.

This place is okay. I would rate the food two stars because it is just bland. There is just not much taste there. The employees are nice enough at this location to make up for it though and the location awesome. It is a great place to eat lunch in Charleston and just people watch. With that being said, there are better places to eat on King St. The Moe's Monday deal is a pretty good one too. For $5 you get a burrito, chips, and a drink.

I like Moe's, but this one I did not like. The only reason I bumped it up to a 2, was because the folks working were nice. I had what I usually have at the other Moe's, Joey with Tofu. Had very little taste at all. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there just seemed to be very little spice or tex-mex flavor present at all. The place was very crowded, not with people, but with tables and chairs. To top it off, we were fighting the fruit flies the entire time we were there. It got kind of annoying. Next time, I'll know not to go and wait for Qdoba's or even better La Nortena.

I went to Moe's on Moe's Monday and it was extremely crowded with lines going out the door. Although the lines moved fast, the cleaning of tables did not. My friends and I had to clean up our own table before we could sit at it. Other than that, the people were nice and efficient and the food was good for cheap Mexican food.

food has no taste. fruit flies were flying all over the restaurant. restaurant is so cramped that a woman in a wheel chair had to have several tables moved for her to get in and out. Not worth the 40 dollars we spent on the meal for the family.

Moe's Mondays- $5 burritos, chips, and a drink. This is as good as it gets. Even though its a franchise, Moe's seems to actually be part of the neighborhood. My favorite things here are either a Joey Bag of Donuts (Burrito) with rice, chicken, black beans, cheese, Tomatillia salsa from the salsa bar, and cilantro. OR- (its not on the menu) but ask for a soft taco shell to be grilled with a little cheese and wrap it around a hard taco shell (like a cheesy taco) and fill it up with all the fixins! And its only 3 bucks a piece for a significant amt of food!

Moe's has nothing to do with Mexican Food...If you want your belly to be full, for only 5 bucks, this place is yours.....Junk.....

First of all South Carolina has zero Mexican food. Well they have some "Mexican" restaurants, but the food is pretty gross. Moe's is not Mexican, but it is Southwestern. Close enough for me whenever I have to head to Charleston. I still keep my punch card with me, even though I haven't been there is a couple years. It's not the best place of all times, but it's good enough for me to recommend.

I'm a Texan, y'all, so I have withdrawal if I don't eat Mexican food every few days. This was my first Moe's, and I loved it. There's also one in Mt. Pleasant. They name all their dishes after pop culture references, like Kaiser Sosa in _The Usual Suspects_ becomes Kaiser Salsa, and my delicious veggie burrito is called an Ugly Naked Guy, a reference to that dude that'd hang out with his windows open in the building next to Rachel and Monica's in "Friends." Good times. The portions are huge, they serve beer and 'ritas, you can sit on a bar stool facing the street and watch all the people go by. Excellent location right on the corner of King & Calhoun. Walk there, or try to get a spot in the parking lot a little further down King on the left, at Burns Lane. If you opt for that, bring change for a meter.
