In what looks to be a home converted into a restaurant is where you'll find this Slice of Heaven. If you've never been there before then you should be prepared to know how to order so you're not standing around waiting to be seated. On your right is a counter with some girls taking orders. The menu? Each dish is framed around the edges of the wall. Take some time to browse the selection they have to offer, get in line, place your order, and find a table. Plenty of seating in a calm environment inside or out. The selection is very unique. I ordered a delicious Greek omelet. Served with a small cup of fruit and giant english muffin. Bacon on the side. My lady ordered the Lumberjack special which I know was just as good as what I ordered because she was kind enough share her blueberry pancake with me :-). Both of us where taken in by how well the meal was put together. So much flavor! Nothing was burnt. Only fresh and high quality ingredients were used. I found that no matter where I go for breakfast in RI the coffee is excellent. Slice is no exception. Most breakfast dishes were placed around the $9.99 range which seems high for breakfast, but you're getting what you pay for :-). There was a tasty looking selection of lunch items too that we weren't able to try out, but if I'm allowed to infer based on a great breakfast....awesome.

The perfect cafe has been discovered. Located over the bridge from Newport in the very pleasant and unassuming, small beach community of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Slice of Heaven Cafe is the whole pie. The coffee is strong and fresh. The baked goods (Cranberry Apple Muffins, Blueberry Scones, and Banana Zucchini Bread to name just a few ) are baked daily every morning using only local ingredients. The grill in the kitchen heats up both familiar home style favorites (a dozen or so omelets, breakbast burritos, egg and maple sausage sandwhiches on a homemade flakey and buttery croissant) and unfamiliar gourmet renditions of classic breakfast and brunch dishes. The outside seating out front, with its own umbrella strewn patio is the ideal spot for a leisurely weekend or vacation morning - the way a cafe should be - good conversation, a little newspaper reading, and no rush. You can find cheaper places to eat breakfast, but then you would be missing out on the Grand Marnier French Toast with a medley of fresh berries and topped with Sweet Cream, Fresh Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple Syrup, and Smoked Atlantic Salmon on a homemade Sourdough Bagel with homemade cream cheese and capers. Wash those down with some Nantucket Nectar Pomegranate Pear Juice Cocktail and don't be in such a hurry to leave to see those mansions on the Newport Cliff Walk. They look better during sunset anyway.

I've come here every morning so far on my vacation to enjoy the outside cafe and an early morning cafe au lait. One the second morning at 0600, I added the california veg omelet to my start. Perfectly cooked every time. I often find when I am out that its difficult to get a great egg white omelet consistently. No issues here and the touch of guacamole on the top just pushes it over the edge. I then bike back to the vacation house with a different pastry plate just warmly out of the oven for the rest of the lazy heads in my family. If you are in Jamestown, you must make this your morning stop.

Wonderful find! We stopped for tea, and decided to have lunch. We both had wonderful sandwiches. The sandwiches were original and very yummy! And they had gluten free bread and desserts! I would visit there again in a heartbeat!

After walking around the small Jamestown harbor, Slice of Heaven looked so tempting with its sail covered terrace. Upon entering my mouth began to water at the case of large deserts. Still I was good and ordered a smoothie. I ordered a small strawberry smoothie that was anything but small. It was yummy and very refreshing. I wish I had room for food because the sandwiches and salads advertised on the hanging posters looked great ,and I thought it was wicked cute that they even had an option for the dogs - bagel bones. A place that makes its own bagels and bread, has delicious deserts (I know from the yums I heard from the table next to me), and what looks like great sandwiches. I guess this really is a slice of heaven (CHEESY).

We drove through Jamestown on our way to Newport, so hadn't exactly researched our dining options and we ended up having to blindly pick a spot. So happy to have lucked out finding Slice of Heaven! Both my hubby and I ordered the fish and chips and were surprised by how good they were--with homemade tartar sauce and fresh hot spiced steak fries. Very good choice. The kids all had pancakes, they gave them a big thumbs up and they are pretty picky since their dad makes the best pancakes ever. The blueberry pancakes were especially delightful. Also, staff very helpful and friendly. Only wish I'd seen the other reviews about the delicious baked goods--we would have picked up a few for the road.

The grand marnier French Toast was delicious! The eggs benedict were exactly what my husband was craving. Simple with a nice ambiance. Looks like we found a new brunch place. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Slice of Heaven is open year round, which is a good thing to know if you work here. It's mostly expensive (in my opinion,) but the food is really delicious. I used to get the Ham & Brie Panino (ham topped with creamy brie and caramelized sweet onions on a baguette.) It has a wonderful balance of sweet, creamy, salty and savory flavors even though it just sounds like a ham and cheese sandwich. Most dishes are like that here. My Mother ordered the clam chowder and usually you get a creamy dill infused cup of clams with potatoes and onions. Their version has pancetta and corn which makes a difference. One time my Mother ordered one of their soups. It was a tomato soup and she figured oh well, not inspired but can't ruin it either. They had put some herbs and tomato chunks and something else in it and made it sublimely delicious. She also ordered many other soups. Their sandwiches to me were a good lunch but to my Mother were a bit more than she wanted to eat. We went here some times but after the little diner in the Mall closed we visited more often. Jamestown has only so many restaurants and the majority of them are on Narragansett Street. Most of the restaurants stay open all year long but not all of them have reasonable prices since around half are tourist type places (in my book.) The inside of this restaurant are reminiscent of a nice coffee place where people can relax and read. I only say that because the decor is art funky and the whole place is light wood paneled. I like it because in the winter it reflects the light and prevents the interior from becoming dreary. The porch outside is open but covered with a canvas drape. I am not fond of it probably because the porch is gray and I hate the sound of the cast iron cafe seats being dragged across the wood. They serve Gelato, I don't know if they do it year round but they didn't 2 or 3 years ago. It was only served during the summer season. I will have to try the Roast Beef Agro é Dolce, (Goat cheese and sweet red pepper jelly on a toasted ciabatta with lettuce and tomato,) the next time I come here.

I'm a sucker for a good muffin, but I'm incredibly picky about them. When a friend handed me a random muffin, then, I was skeptical. Ten minutes later, after having an absolutely fantastic cranberry walnut muffin EXPERIENCE, I went running down the hall to find out where this muffinly delight came from. Discovering Slice of Heaven has revolutionized my weekend mornings. Now, instead of staying late in bed, it's off to Jamestown for a muffin and a cup of quite-tasty coffee, then a stroll on the beach. Slice of Heaven boasts a variety of muffins, from the glorious cranberry walnut that hooked me, to a chocolate banana, a variety of coffee cake muffins, and the traditional lemon poppyseed and blueberry. They also have a huge selection of full breakfasts involving eggs, pancakes, french toast, and the like, sandwiches, and desserts. BUT THE MUFFINS, MAN, THE MUFFINS.

The woman behind the counter gives vicious glares, snatches the credit card, makes one feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. What deep rudeness! When my friend left something, she called and this lady wouldn't check to see if it was there in the restaurant. Very strange, so hostile. Why? The waiters are very nice. The food is fine. Would never go back.

This is a decent little place on Jamestown that offers up everything from baked goods to pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. Salads and sandwiches for lunch receive a nice twist. They have outdoor seating and the inside is clean and inviting, as is the staff. The food quality seems to depend on what you get.. The fish naanwich is great, other things not so much. A vegetarian wrap is just hummus and some veggies on a wrap, I can make that at home, I don't care for the omelettes, most sandwiches are ok, but the burger is terrible and for $13 it misses the mark, as do most of the portion sizes and a fair amount of the prices. High prices are to be expected as it's Jamestown, but the quality needs to be there too to warrant them. Swing by for a coffee and the bakery items and you can't go wrong, they are the best thing there.

Best sit-down breakfast / sandwich shop ever. Breakfast sandwich was amazing and served promptly even though they were busy. The coffee and pastries were to die for. Have one while waiting for your main course. I am not surprised this place is always busy. Probably many locals go here as it seems like the most down-to-earth restaurant on the strip in Jamestown.

My in-laws have a house on the hill so my husband and I eat here a lot. The food is delicious and the service is great. My favorite is the southwest chicken quesadilla. My husband likes the ham and brie with caramelized onions. Salads are huge, but I've never tried one. Great all around. Run by a husband and wife team from Brooklyn!

Excellent breakfast spot! Order at the counter and they will bring your food out to you. We all enjoyed our eggs and our outdoor dining experience. But what we enjoyed even more were the desserts we brought for the car ride home... my fave was the lemon ginger muffin and I'm not even really a big ginger fan. The pecan cinnamon roll was also great and the carrot cake muffin was another winner! I don't think you can go wrong with any of these sweet baked treats!

Great feeling being in New England after the Patriots blow their shot at the Super Bowl. Might have made my experience at Slice of Heaven even sweeter! We stopped by for breakfast and were overwhelmed (in a good way)by the cake and pastry choices. Resolute to have some eggs in our bellies, we ordered the California Omelette and the Eggs Benedict. You can't go wrong with either, and they were both loaded with ingredients and flavor. Satisfied, we went to the counter to see what we can take home. We ended leaving with an assortment of baked goods to bring back to our friends. We'll definitely make it a point to stop by when we revisit Jamestown!

Excellent breakfast. I had the pomelet and my wife had the california veggie. Both were excellent, not overcooked and high quality ingredients. English muffins on the side seemed homemade and added a nice touch. Its a little strange when you first walk in as it seemed they had wait staff but they didn't. Would definitely recommend to anyone in town looking for breakfast.

We have found our breakfast spot when staying in Jamestown! We got the breakfast sandwich, which was a little messy on a croissant, but still good, and blueberry pancakes. Delish! The baked goods all looked so good, but we passed on the first go round. Went back the next day for some hangover remedies for the guys. An omelet, breakfast burrito and burger (at 9am) for them, blueberry pancakes for me! I wanted a bit of everything- it all looked so good! The burger looked good too at 9 am so I will definitely be back for lunch! Picked up a cookie, white choc macadamia nut for the drive home. Savor in until my next visit!

I found Slice of Heaven on Yelp while looking for nearby breakfast spots. Atmosphere: Bright and cheerful. Cute, beachy casual kind of vibe. Plenty of tables. The menu options are framed overhead along the perimeter of the ordering area. Food: Pricey. The portions are on the smaller side (that's refreshing). We ordered the lumberjack special with blueberry pancakes, very good. Service: Young crowd taking the orders. Good energy, very friendly :). Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

used to be much better. I got a muffin that tasted more on the store bought side rather than from a gourmet bakery. For the price I expected way more. Head to the East Ferry Deli and get a baked good there. It was clean and service was good, but I just had higher hopes. Scones were lacking in berries also.

Slice of Heaven lies smack dab in the center of Smalltown, USA. Jamestown offers a smalltown feel with only a few of main streets. We frequented Slice of Heaven on three different breakfast occasions during our weeklong stay in Jamestown/Newport. It was a close drive from our Jamestown resort and the food was always fantastic. Twice I tried the breakfast burrito (flavorful, moist, and full of ingredients) and once I opted for the "Pomelet," which was an omelet consisting of hash browns, onions, green peppers, ham, bacon, sausage, and cheddar. I'm not sure where the unique name comes from, but it's more like a meat-lover's omelet than anything else. Both breakfast options were good-sized portions. Washing it down with their delicious and refreshing orange juice also hit the spot. Eating outside on their big covered patio in mild sunny weather made the experience complete. It was so peaceful, relaxing, and we always left satisfied. I recommend Slice of Heaven for a quiet breakfast experience in Smalltown, USA.

I was super excited to try this place because I am such a huge fan of chocolate chip and walnut cookies. I guess this cafe has a little charm if you eat outside. Inside seems a little run down and instead of smelling like a bakery, it was more along the lines of a musty lumber closet. I purchased a fruit tart and 2 medium choco/walnut cookies for the ridiculous price of $9 !! Man, these cookies better be bomb for $2 a piece! Wrong!! The cookies were like crumbs bonded together by butter not soft chewy nor delicious. Stop and shop makes better cookies for the value price of $4 a bucket! The fruit tart had a weird gooey mixture on top and the crust was comparable to a hockey puck I kid you not. Which on first try, I tossed it in the trash without even trying.I will not be returning and am deeply disturbed that this place won "best of" in RI Monthly.

Slice of Heaven is the island's idea of a coffee house. No Starbucks or D&D's here. Actually it's a lot more and they also serve meals and do fantastic catering but most people come here for the coffee and pastries. The coffees, cappuccinos and lattes are great. Far, far better than the watered down D&D stuff. and their "special dark" definitely has a kick. The home made pastries are rich, tasty and undoubtedly highly caloric but if you are going to pig out it might as well be on something this good. I shudder to think how many calories I have consumed on their pastries. For meals they have a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches and some great burgers. My favorites are the California wraps. Many different types, with a great selection of ingredients. The veggie wrap is especially good, it literally oozes out of the wrap and it's a challenge to get it into your mouth where it belongs. Slice of Heaven seems especially proud of their handmade Gelato. I'm not sure if there is any other way to make it but the Gelato is great after a day of biking or yaking the island. You can usually find a copy of the Jamestown Press hanging around and they frequently have a coupon for a free Gelato. The food is great but the coolest part is that the place is right in the center of the Jamestown. You can sit outside and watch the ships go by in the bay and enjoy the sea breezes. A great place to begin or end a Conanicut Island trip.

Bleh....average food, at best. I was hoping for something much better based on other reviews. We stopped there today for lunch. I got the chicken salad wrap (waaaaay too lemon-y of a flavor. It was made with lemon mayo, but that was just about all you could taste of the wrap). My husband got a breakfast burrito, and he thought it was just okay. My son got the grilled cheese, if you can call it that (it was a bun with melted cheese...that tasted bad, to boot). So, for the money, $35, and what we got... no way are we going to go back.

My BF and I tried this place for the first time. After reading all the great reviews, we were very much looking forward to breakfast. He ordered the Lumberjack (eggs, bacon, pancakes)-average at best. I ordered a Tuscan panino because I like grilled sandwiches. The bread was toasted OK, but the ham and cheese slices were fridge cold. That was disappointing. I ended up my meal with a fruit tart and the crust was very hard. Overall not a great experience for both of us....maybe we will give it another try soon.

Nathaniel Tomo is the pastry chef here at Slice of Heaven and he puts this place on the map! I tried one of his newer creations, a light vanilla cake with chantilly cream, covered in crushed sugary meringue pieces. It was delightful. The contrasting textures were excellent, moist cake and crispy meringue. Not too sweet, but sweet enough to pair with a bottomless mug of coffee on a cool morning near the coast. His other pastries looked great, but we'd just had lunch. Next time I'll have to try some of the many varieties of muffins and mini croissants. Boston cream pies available as well! Can't wait to see what chef Nathan will think up next. Not only that, the fish and chips are also superb. Arguably the best I've ever had in New England. 2 large cod filets with some of the crispiest, airiest batter I've ever had on fish. Came with some fries, which were supposed to be cajun spiced but instead were plain and a little less crisp than I'dve liked. Maybe if they twice fried them, they'd be much better. Regardless best fried cod I've had in a while. Came with some flavorful house tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Would be 5 stars for Nathan Tomo's delightful cake and excellent fish, but is 4 for less than great fries and kind of a prohibitively high price for fish and chips ($12.99).

Went here last month on a weeklong vacation during which we staying in Jamestown. I ordered the Heavenly Burger with Cajun fries. Delicious! The fries were fat steak fries dusted with Cajun seasonings. The burger had cheddar cheese, bacon and guacamole on it. I could only eat half, probably because the fries were so good! My mom had the Denver omelet, which she said was very good. We got some desserts to take back to our hotel for later. Wow! The mini-blueberry pies were to-die-for. The crust was light and sweet, as was the blueberry filling. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for something quality.

Went here for breakfast on a nice Sunday morning. After finding a seat by the front window, we were approached by a nice gentleman who kindly instructed us on the ordering process (review menu at table, walk to counter to order, etc). I assume he was the owner and I thought it was considerate for him to help us. I ordered an omelet special which consisted of salmon, zucchini, and other assorted veggies. It was to die for. My SO had a more traditional breakfast and was able to substitute blueberry pancakes without any issue. Coffee was very good too. Next time I am in (and there will be a next time), I will try a dessert, Also must mention it got REALLY crowded around 10:30AM due to church down the street getting out. You might want to arrive beforehand to avoid this rush.

I was back at Slice just a week or so ago every morning and I am happy to say that they have not only does a few renovations to their interior since December (which was not needed but it looks nice) they have added a full omelet menu. I tried the Santa Fe as well as the Greek. The Santa Fe had a bit too much salsa for my liking and it overwhelmed the eggs, but I am a Cali native and I think I might be a snob when it comes to anything tex-mex. The Greek was delish. I finished out the next 7 days with a breakfast sandwich, the amazing steal cut oatmeal, a breakfast burrito, a few of their muffins and my go to... their classic ice coffee. I do look forward to sitting outside, grabbing the Jamestown press and enjoying a good breakfast at Slice.

Fantastic lunch. Had spinach salad, huge but raster with pears and toasted. Walnuts. Veggie burger was delicious with best sweet potato fries we have ever had( crunchy on outside, soft on inside. Also had special soup of the day: chicken tortilla. It was good but chicken was in chances instead of pulled, otherwise I would rate soup excellent. The deserts are worth the drive. We have eaten here often, hard to go wrong with any item.

Nothing better for breakfast in Jamestown. We particularly enjoy the steelcut oatmeal or the blueberry pancakes but there is nothing bad on the menu. Add delicious baked goods and wonderful outdoor seating and you have a winner. Lunch is equally good and dinner during the summer is spectacular. Get there early for breakfast if you're going on a weekend, especially a nice one to grab an outside seat.

Nice little place if you're looking for a coffeehouse-type place on the island. Coffee is good, but not great. All the pastries that we've tried were pretty exceptional, especially the banana cocoa muffin and the apple turnover. Lunch and dinner are available, and quite good, just on the pricey side.

I've been back to Slice of Heaven several times since my initial review. First of all, I have to say that the Southwestern Grilled Chicken Burrito is the best burrito I've ever had. The fish (cod) and chips are also very nice. With the warm weather has come outdoor seating on a terrace in front of the restaurant. From there you can watch the world go by on Jamestown's main drag.

This place is an adorable, small-town coffee shop - no Starbucks on this island! They have GREAT lattes and friendly staff. I had a croissant from here once that was buttery and delicious. They have a food menu although I have never eaten a full meal here. Great place to hang out and get a cup of coffee, read the paper, and enjoy small town life!

We came at a busy time for brunch, but I'm guessing brunch is the rush. I ordered a omlet with bacon, ran out if bacon, ran out of sausage, so I got Canadian bacon. 3 out of 4 of the omlets came, but we had 2 wait another 15 minutes for the 4th. Places make mistakes and it's how you deal with them that people remember. I hate when the manager puts it back on the customer. We don't need a birch answer that all the food is made fresh that sleeps pretty obvious, an omlet is made to order. Just say I'm sorry and we'll get it to you asap. By the way when our omlets came with fruit and when we got our omlets they ran out of fruit as well. The owner or manager is totally burned out and maybe a slow winter will help

Just one quibble - the place is great, otherwise. I ordered a Salade Nicoise and asked to make sure there were anchovies on it. I was charged extra for anchovies. Don't they know that anchovies are the sine qua non of a classic Salade Nicoise?

Great option for breakfast. On the weekends the place can get a little crowded if showing up after 8a. There's limited seating inside and out as well as the area to line up to place an order is dead center in the way of everyone coming in an out as well as orders...a little awkward. Great good, simple menu, relatively quick service.

Nice service & clean place. Indoor/outdoor seating...pets are allowed. My friend was craving creme brulee so a couple of days before visiting RI, I called & asked if they served creme brulee. They do make it but its not a regular on their menu but they went ahead & made some for us which was super nice. Upon arrival, warm environment but not many desserts to choose from & the top of the creme brulee wasnt torched so it tasted like regular flan. If you're visiting Newport, be prepared to pay a $4 toll fee to and from this place. Overall, great service, below average on dessert variations.

GREAT breakfast spot. We were staying in Jamestown over Menoriak Day weekend and stopped into this place twice for breakfast. They have friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. Their pastries are amazing and the omelette and salmon bagel are delicious. Great family spot.

Upon walking into this place, I held the door for the waitress walking in behind me. No acknowledgment whatsoever, so I kindly stated in my big boy voice, "Your welcome!" Guess this was a prelude of things to come... We placed our order at the service counter, pancakes for the kids, waffles for the misses and french toast for dis guy. 2 large orange juices and a coffee to drink, the whole breakfast set us back $30something bucks, not overly bad since we were out of Newport. So first the waitress brings my wife's waffles. 5 minutes later comes my French toast. 3 minutes later comes the pancakes. Why can you just bring everything out at once so we can eat together?? The place wasn't that busy. The food was mediocre at best. The portions were small compared to NJ portions, which wasn't that big of a deal, didn't want to take half a day to digest anyway. The French toast was on a croissant, which hand no flavor except for the whipped cream and fruit. So upon leaving, my wife walks toward the front door. She stops to let the waitress walk in from the outside. Whats the chances this waitress walks in and doesn't hold the door for her?? Very good I might add, place is no go for us in the future.

This is usually a summer spot for me, but I happened to stop by last weekend for a light breakfast. Grabbed a muffin- not as fresh as I would like, but maybe I am spoiled with warm muffins fresh out of the oven too often. My smoothie was really refreshing. Even though it's super cold out, I did not get a brain freeze from it. This place gets super busy in the summer, so make sure you have time to spend here as service will be slower. It's definitely in a perfect location, close to the water, with a really nice patio out front. Nice place to grab to-go type foods.

This not a pizza joint. It is a nice bakery with lovely pastries, very good breakfast choices and lunch. Everything is made in house. You order at the counter, find a seat inside or out and they find you. It is the only place we found serving breakfast. That said, we would be very happy to return many times.

Growing up in Newport, I am ashamed to say until this summer I had never ventured or explored Jamestown. Now that I have spent some time there this summer, I am regretful of all of the years I lost on this charmful, exquisite, beautiful island. My friend and I had had the worst summer of our lives. We had just taken our last final. We were exhausted, brain dead, overwhelmed, somewhat still stressed, and just needed some good food. We needed to know that a place like heaven still existed. When you imagine the "perfect breakfast place" in your mind, Slice of Heaven is truly it. It has beautiful sidewalk seating to watch everyone walk by, but is also separated by landscaping so you feel like you are in your neighbors garden. The menu is huge, and they offer a lot of unique dishes. I tried a muffin with an omelet, bacon and fresh fruit. It was amazing. I only have a muffin about once every 2 years. This fulfilled me for the next 20 years, it was the perfect combination of flavor, texture and sweetness. They also serve lunch, and have alcoholic beverages! I would love to go back and try one of their lunches. They also have a fun selection of teas, pastrys, baked goods. If this is what a slice of heaven is like, I sure am going to do my best to not go to hell.

We have eaten here 4 times for breakfast in the last month. The food, especially the muffins, gets 5 stars with the coffee and service getting 3 stars. The espresso gets 1 star, I watched the guy make it and I basically got a little cup of nasty coffee. When a restaurant puts an item on the menu and charges for it I expect they know how to make the item. He put the previously ground beans in the portafilter without measuring or tamping and popped it into the semiauto machine. This place would get consistent 5 star reviews if the employees would enjoy their jobs a bit more and serve coffee refils instead of making us go up to the counter. Same for bussing our own dirty dishes, why should I leave a tip (especially without a thankyou) if I have to do my own waitressing? Every menu Item we have tried has been excellent with the muffing being the standouts.
