The food here was excellent but the ambiance was not to my liking. It was very loud with a bar like atmosphere. The waitress was very accommodating and pleasant but there were several young women running about asking if they could take your dishes away. Once I was approached when I was only half way through eating my entree and was asked if I was finished. Later when I was half way through my dessert another woman asked if I wanted to have a box. Unbelievably rude. I could maybe understand if they had a line of people waiting for tables but that was not the case since there were empty tables. My fiancé had sea bass with risotto and I had the stuffed shrimp. Delicious. The carrot cake was one of the best I had ever had. It's too bad I felt I was being rushed and it was so loud.

I've been to this restaurant twice in the past few weeks with family. They have my favorite beer, Stella Artois, along with a full bar. I've gotten the anchovies, bruschetta, and the calamari. They're all very tasty, but they seem to be a little inconsistent as the second time I got the bruschetta it was very soggy due to the oil among others. The white chowder they have is very tasty and very chunky. Always tastes very fresh. The food is not necessarily anything to write home about. It's definitely not bad, but for the price, I expected a lot more flavor. It just seemed to fall flat. I tried several dishes from the folks at my table and unless it was a dish with a specifically strong flavor (Lemon chicken with capers, etc). The service is wonderful with people constantly clearing the table, very attentive and very quick to come back with drinks, extra silverware, plates, etc., but the food does seem to take an extended amount of time. I'd definitely come back here with family, but I would not go pro-actively or if it wasn't my grandparents favorite place.

Cheater's is a pretty good choice for breakfast. Nothing flashy, just your standard breakfast grub. The service is decent and the restaurant is clean.

A gem in a place called Harmony. My wife and I happened upon this restaurant while on a ride in the country. The decor is cozy, the staff friendly and the food is just fine. Definitely on our go to list next time we're in the RI boonies.

Super nice place,I had the Veal Parm. It was excellent. Also I had the spinach salad, one of the best salads I ever had. My third time there and they didn't disappoint. Kind of far from home for me, But we'll be back...

Chester's is a jewel located in the sticks of Glocester, Rhode Island. i attended a function there last Wednesday and had a superbly cooked prime rib dinner with exquisite crisp vegetables. Outstanding! Also please let me mention the most stunningly beautiful, tall, blonde hostess who made sure we were all taken care of. Also, the waiter and waitress who looked after us were great as well. I highly recommend Chester's for a wonderful night out.

Not a bad choice for lunch or dinner in an area that has few choices for lunch or dinner. (Really people, get over it. it's less than a half hour from Warwick/Cranston!) It's just a few minutes west of all those boring chain restaurants on Route 44 in Greenville. Chester's offers a family menu and laid back family atmosphere serving a wide range of traditional dishes, burgers and pastas. They also have function rooms available for small to medium-sized groups, and at a recent event, I enjoyed an outstanding squash and sausage soup you likely won't find anywhere else. (Probably only offered in season.) And the warm apple crisp tops of any dinner very nicely.

Never knew the place existed...til we went to turn around in their parking lot while looking for a more mainstream place to get a bite to eat last night! Decided to give it a chance, saying "it could be a total dump or a true hidden gem", and it was a bit of both! The decor was lacking, to say the least...although I was impressed by the banquet room. white tablecloths, a beautiful gas fireplace, lots of windows & lights, it was beautiful! There was no hostess on a Thursday evening, so we were told to sit anywhere...we were handed a specials menu and the regular menu. I was shocked at the prices, to say the least, on this out of the way place! Slightly on the upper side of things (for us, last night)...say, the salmon dinner, PLAIN, being $16.99! Service was good once we were seated, we had a knowledgeable waitress who helped me make my mind up between two choices I had made from the vast menu! I chose the whole-bellied clam special for $21.99, husband had that plain grilled salmon for $16.99. Both dinners came with either soup or salad, we both chose chicken rice...homemade, thick, rich with chicken & veggies and delicious! I'm sure the beef barley had been just as good! His salmon came with homemade smashed potatoes which were gone before I had a taste, also a California mix (not frozen)! He said everything was great. I do know his salmon was cooked to perfection! His portion was large enough for two people or meals! My whole-bellied clams weren't heavy or greasy as I was scared of them being! They were light & delicate but has NO seasoning at ALL! I had to douse them with lemon & salt to get any flavor out of them! What a shame as they were cooked to perfection! My hand-cut fries were done the same way-not one bit of seasoning, but light, just a bit of crispiness on the outside & soft in the middle, just the way I like them! My coleslaw, I figured, was an afterthought and boy was I wrong! It was absolutely amazing! I wanted to steal their recipe! My hubby & I both agreed it was the best we'd ever had in a restaurant & he was also impressed with the clams & fries had! In all, I would say I'd go back again when I could afford to... I would have given it 5 stars, however, the insides need sprucing up a bit...we don't drink, so we didn't get a look at the bar or taste any of the house cocktails.. If the food had been seasoned JUST a bit, I may have given it 5 stars!.

Service was good. Waitress was attentive but not overly attentive. Food was not great, nothing I had would bring me back and nothing on the menu I saw looked good enough for another visit. I had the chicken parm figuring that was a safe dish and something that cant go wrong. Chicken was dry, extremely minimal amount of sauce, and the mini ziti was cold, and I mean cold! The only saving grace was the two super thin slices of tasty garlic bread. The side salad would have fit in the palm of my hand, nothing great here either all pretty standard stuff you can get anywhere. The wine we had was warm. So even that became a deterrent for a return visit. The wine must have been stored near an oven or under some hot lights. It really wasn't stored properly. The Decor was dated, but I have to say it was clean. Surprisingly clean! Most restaurants with carpeted floors usually smell like old food. But for being as old and dated as it was, everything was clean. Nice! In the end my wife and I won't be back. Nothing stood out and nothing was really good enough to make us want to go back. Pros - service, clean. Cons - slightly below standard food. Poor wine storage.

I had the most amazing meal at my work Christmas party of all places a few weeks ago. The party was held at Chester's Restaurant, which is probably somewhere I would never go to on my own, given the fact it is way out of Providence in the burbs. The meal was served buffet style, and I loaded my plate with the available vegetarian options: salad, steamed veggies, bread and butter, and the best eggplant parmesan I have ever had! When I came home, I raved about the eggplant parm. It is not common for me to obsess over a certain restaurant dish, so my husband knew it must have been special. He immediately made plans for us to return to Chester's a few weeks later so I could have my beloved eggplant parm again. We returned to Chester's this past Saturday night, and let's just say the eggplant was as good, if not better, than the eggplant I feasted upon at the party! Chester's is my kind of restaurant in that it is casual, but very warm and "hearthy" if that makes sense. It is the kind of place you want to go to in the winter because the interior almost feels sort of log cabin-ish. When we arrived around 7:30 on a Saturday night, the restaurant had plenty of empty tables, and our party of four was seated immediately in a cozy booth. The service was excellent-- all of the waitstaff seemed very pleasant and friendly, as well as attentive. The menu at Chester's has a lot more than just eggplant parm-- there were all sorts of apps including nachos and bruschetta, pasta dishes, sandwiches, burgers, meat entrees, and seafood. Of course, I knew I was having the eggplant parm dinner, which was advertised on their menu as "famous" and "hand breaded." My husband actually jumped on the parm train too and had veal parm. Our meals started with a house salad with parmesan peppercorn dressing. It was simple but tasty, and the olives were a great addition. The main event was the eggplant of course! Pounded thin, breaded and fried, it was seriously melt-in-your-mouth! Their sauce is amazing too, and there was a perfect amount of cheese on top. The garlic bread left a bit to be desired, as it wasn't crisp or garlicky, but that's OK, since its main purpose was to sop up the delicious sauce. The side of ziti with sauce that came with the meal was simple but also satisfying, and a nice accompaniment to the eggplant. My husband also adored his veal parm and agreed it was some of the "best ever." The reason I love their eggplant so much is that it is very thin, not seedy and not tough at all. You don't even need a knife to cut through it! Chester's is now one of my favorite "off-the beaten-path-from-Providence" restaurants. When I go back, I want to try one of their fruit and nut salads, nachos, and sweet potato fries! Oh, and their desserts are all housemade, but unfortunately, I had no room to try one! I will leave that for next time too!

Excellent lunch. Very attentive staff. I had the Bourbon St. Chicken Sandwich which the waitress recommended. Very tasty. My wife had the corned beef and she enjoyed that as well. Homemade soup comes with the meal. Today was onion and chicken Pantine. Also both delicious. Definitely would eat here again.

We went last night for dinner. Our group consisted of 3 children under 10 and 4 adults. My family had never been here before, but the daily we went with had been. We are so happy we did. The hostess was cheerful, the waitress was great, and the food was EXCELLENT!!! We can't wait to go back. Personally I highly recommend the onion rings!!!!!!! The prices are reasonable especially for the portions you get. Worth the ride over.

I've honestly never been so conflicted while writing a restaurant review. On one hand, the service and food were terrible. But on the other hand, this place somehow managed to defy all known rules of biology, so they should get some kind of credit for that. You see, the food has such little flavor, that goes beyond "lacking flavor" and moves into a whole new category that I will call "Anti-Flavor." Much like anti-matter eats up matter, my dinner at Chester's ate up and dissolved any and all potential flavor. No, this was not beef, but some unworldly substance that could easily be studied by top scientists for generations. So, when ultimately giving a star rating, I was forced to weigh a potentially significant scientific discovery versus what is, quite possibly, the most bland food that I have ever tasted (and hopefully ever will). Ultimately, the scientific discovery lost out. This place is 1 star, at best.

Breakfast Review! Although I had tried Chesters for dinner once I discovered via their website this restaurant is open for breakfast only on Sundays. I ventured out before church today to sample their offerings. The young woman hostess was energenic and gave what seemed a hearty, sincere greeting. She offered me a center table but cheerfully abliged when I requested a booth. She also asked what I wanted to drink prior to my server arriving and again politely honored my request for milk instead of cream. The server was also young but just as friendly and efficient as the hostess. The staff was well trained and made you feel welcome for coming to their restaurant. The menu was only one page and seem to emphasize about 8 omelet dishes ( you could also create your own), a few simple egg dishes, buttermilk pancakes, an a waffle with or without fruit. A few side options were offered. The prices were low to competive. The egg dishes started at $2.99 with home fries and toast. Pancakes were $4.99 and omelts were probably the most expensive starting at $7.99. Coffee was $1.99. I started with the the coffee was very good. I had noticed from where I was sitting the staff would pour the freshly brewed coffee in those themo push lever containers to keep the drink fresh and hot. Tired of paying over $10.00 for a breakkfast at other places I ordered the single egg breakfast for $2.99. The meal could be described as "simple food prepared well. Everything was hot and prepared as requested. The portions was not hugh but matched the price point. Beware that here a single scrambled egg is a small portion . Since I usually eat more protiens next time I would order the 2 eggs or try an omlet. Warning!!! The home fries are the deep fried cube kind, not the fresh cut potatoes. I was happy with the offerings because theyy were hot and not greasy but I know others prefer the real home fries. In closing, you can from the other reviewers' pictures Chesters decor has a rustic charm with the paneling and wooden floors. I would like to add despite the building's age the dining area and restroom were imaculate. The carpet and windows were spotless. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Unlike some places which "locals" are treated better than others the Chester staff seem to treat all thier guests well. My only suggestion is the owners post the breakfast menu online.

$10.99. Eleven dollars. Eleven fucking dollars. For a chicken caesar wrap. With chips. You want fries with that? Add another $1.25. So that's TWELVE DOLLARS for a chicken caesar wrap and french fries. I'm not sure who all these people are talking about this place having reasonable prices but this place must be paying them to say that. If this is reasonable where are they going that charges more for standard food? My tuna melt? Yeah that will be $8.99. With chips. $10.25 with fries. Also they microwaved the damn tuna salad before they put it in my sandwich. Who does that? I understand the tuna usually gets a little warm from grilling the sandwich but this tuna was HOT. There is really nothing left to say. I was so caught off guard by the prices I actually wanted to walk out before we ordered. Every entree is $15+. All sandwiches are at least $9. Many are over ten. Served with chips. This is a fucking old school baked scrod type restaurant in Harmony Rhode Island. This is not Gordon Fucking Ramsey Steak. I should have known better. Why do I ever stop at these places? I just wanted a damn french dip. Maybe some onion soup (they had neither). The menu is as boring as it gets. The food was as average as it gets. The prices are Las Vegas Strip level. Stupid. Dumb.

Good food on the way to nowhere There isn't much out in this part of Rhode Island expect trees and rocks and then more trees and rocks. Some great hiking but not much great eating unless you enjoy finding and killing the food yourself. After an all day hike we were all famished and pleasantly surprised to see Chester's just sort of appearing on the side of the road. It's a rather strange looking building and much larger than it first looks. I'm not sure if it was always an restaurant but the structure does look like it had several additions and renovations done to it, one of those places that looks like it was once something else but you can't really tell what. Kind of looks like a dumpy dive at first glance and we were debating whether to stop but since we were so hungry we decided to give it a chance. It's lucky we did because It's actually quite lovely and pleasant on the inside with a nice bar with several large screen TVs, a conference type of room in the back and two main dining areas. Large and spacious enough to spread out and enjoy some serious eating. Xmas decorations were everywhere and the two fireplaces were both lit, giving the interior a very comfy and relaxing feel and a great holiday smell. It wasn't very crowded when we dropped in, with a few guys quietly watching football at the bar and some folks in the conference room. The waitress was very nice in a amiable country sort of a way and joked and talked with us as she took our order. A far cry from the "what do you want" attitude of many more urban restaurants. The three pasta combination thing I got was superb, a combination of eggplant Parmesan and two other pasta dishes all served on a huge plate. I love pasta dishes and this was among the best I have every had. Sure I was starving but this was absolutely great and large enough to actually fill me up, something that doesn't happen very often. The potato skin and calamari that we also ordered were also pretty dang good. This is a locally family owned and operation place and probably gets much of it's business from local people since it is out in the boonies. It's has a rare combination of very cool country atmosphere and great food. Definitely worth traveling out of your way and in among the trees and rocks to find.

We like this place - alot. very nice atmosphere with multiple fireplaces and occasional live (ambient type) music. Great service from all of the waitresses and bartenders, and the food is incredible. There are two distinct sections to Chester's both with their own entrances - the lounge area and the dining area. You cannot go wrong with the service on either side. Prices and fair and the menu is extensive and well balanced. We particularly enjoy their chicken dishes. Also, the portions are of a good size with plenty of leftovers. They also offer mid week specials which are a really good deal. Thursday night steak specials at $13 is one of my favorites. We have been here 7-8 times over the past couple of months. I never frequent a restaurant like this. Just a great, all around place to go that I recommend to my friends.

You know its good if you can convince your typical Rhode Island family to make the drive "all the way from Warwick" to this neck of the woods without making overnight accommodations! This is a family owned and operated restaurant, I love that! The menu is typical american fare, nothing fancy. But its consistently good! We've tried so many different options and haven't been disappointed. My entire family including in-laws and extended family came up for Easter several years back and requested it again this year, and agreed that's where we would dine next year as well. There is a large fireplace in the middle room and a very large "Cheers-esque" bar in the lounge. Its less than 10 minutes from the chain restaurants in Greenville, please do yourself a favor and make the drive for real food!

Shame shame shame on me! Turning left on 44W instead of the same old things on the right. Stumbled upon this darling gem of a family owned and run restaurant. Food, service and atmosphere are just Right on! Had a smothered sirloin with garlic peppers onions and mushrooms. And you can taste them all! No sauce to cover up the pure great flavors. The staff is so pleasant the place very clean and inviting and the ambience appealing. Take the time to make the looooong drive (Rhode Islanders......) and you will be justly rewarded. And pleasantly surprised :)

We love Chester's! Excellent food, service and ambiance. We came in for the Wednesday special. We got soup or salad, two entrees and a bottle of wine for $26.95! We had Baked Scrod, sausage soup and a house salad. The Scrod was cooked perfectly with a nice side if green beans and mashed red potatoes with the skin on them. This place is family owned and operated. I would highly recommend them and supporting the Chepatchet area.

I hosted a special event here and was very happy with how it went. We got the brunch menu and the food was tasty, especially the veggie lasagna and Danish. The servers were really friendly and helpful, and the room was cozy with a big fireplace and twinkle lights (much nicer than I expected from the parking lot view). There was no cake cutting fee, and when the price for mimosas on the bill was more than we had discussed, they quickly changed it. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to have a reasonably priced party.

So, we had to go to Chepachet to look at a piece of real estate on a Sunday afternoon and didn't want to wait to eat lunch at home. We came up upon Chester's with a full parking lot and said, "Why not?". This place is an awesome, old school family restaurant with a bar attached. The Patriots were playing so the bar was packed and slightly spilling into the dining room, but in a fun and controlled way. Lot of regulars I'm sure. The food was excellent. I had a basic burger with sweet potato fries and my wife had a salad with chicken. Both were way above average and not what I would expect from a place called Chester's in Rhode Island's hinterlands. This place is to unabashedly uncool that it circles back into the cool range, and I would go back.

After 3 days of camping, I was all done with cooking over the campfire. We are picky about restaurants & were really impressed with our server (so nice) and the server who was attending the table next to us (actually anticipating their needs)!!! The simple burgers were hand pressed & fries hot & fresh. We are so glad to have stopped in. If you are in Gloucester, stop by!

I love Chester's. It's my family's go-to place where everybody knows your name. Heck, I like it so much I even had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding here! Love the fish and chips on Wednesdays and Fridays. Love the eggplant parm. the people that work here are super friendly and fun and it sure beats the chain restaurants in Smithfield!
