We ordered a bbq chicken pizza and I picked it up. Huge chunks of chicken on pizza, hard to eat. Crust is really doughy, toppings are not spread out throughout the pizza, and this is not good. Toppings are too large to pick up in a slice of pizza. The bbq sauce was too strong and barely had any onions on pizza! not happy with this purchase. Left a gross taste in my mouth and wasn't worth the price! where other places are less for the same size pizza!

Ordered an italian grinder with no onions ans a small pizza with pepperoni and meatballs........how can this be screwed up? Well the grinder had onions, and less meat and more lettuce than subway. For some reason my salad grinder didnt taste good at all!!! As for the pizza...frozen is better!!! Tasteless. Head to Tomasellis, Campanellas, superior bakery or even uncle Tonys. Settle for frozen before going to Tommys too. If you are forced by gunpoint to go there, i would recommend eating the box, it has more flavor!

This is a great place for pizza or Italian food. The service is great, the food is amazing, and I just love going. I highly recommend any of the pizzas, and also the calamari balsamica. It's so good, I have to get it everytime I go. Overall a great restaurant, love coming here!

I like to go to Tommy's every so often. The food is typical Rhode Island Italian and usually very tasty. I usually opt for the veal parm which not only is usually delicious but fairly affordable in the grand scheme. I've never had any issue with the service and find the bartenders and waitstaff generally friendly and attentive. The only thing I will say is that Tommy's can be a bit too crazy on Friday nights.

The pizza is fabulous a Tommy's. With a plethora of topping choices you can create just about anything you want. What I like it that the crust doesn't get droopy. It's crispy even with lots of toppings. The owner is on premises most of the time. He really seems to care about the quality and experience. My only complaints are environmental. . . I tend to get the chicken parmesan with Ziti. They serve each separately. Its a pain in the butt because the tables are small. If you have four people who ordered mixed dishes (ie:chicken and vegtables or ziti) you end up with 10 dishes for 4 people and no room to breathe. My last peeve is the room temperature. Its horribly regulated. In the summer-it's sweltering, and the winter freezing.

Another good lunch at Tommy's. We love the food, the atmosphere and the service. All this at reasonable prices. Some of the Italian dishes are as close to my mother's cooking as I can get. The one item we never order is pizza so I can't comment on its quality. The rest of the menu is very good. The fried squash flowers could be a little less greasy but the rest of lunch was spot on.

I'm back again to report that Tommy's is just as good as ever, and I'm giving them another deserved star to make up for all of the grumpy, taste-bud disabled one-star reviewers! Seriously, what is wrong with you guys? About every other month, a group of my former co-workers gather here for dinner since it's in the middle of the state and a fair distance for everyone to drive. We all love it and keep coming back. This time we ordered a caprese salad, a veggie pizza, a meatball and olive pizza, a pepperoni and olive pizza, and a hawaiian pizza. Everything was fresh and exceptional. We especially love those little pepperonis! Yet again, the service was friendly and super accommodating. In the middle of a busy Friday night they were able to put together a table for 10 of us and our server was so nice. We always manage to have someone that can laugh with us. This time, the owner even came over to say hello and make sure everything was a-ok. Also, their turtle cheesecake is to die for!

So disappointed! I grew up in Providence and Tommy's Pizza (on Chalkstone) was my favorite pizza place. I recently moved back to Rhode Island and spotted a "new" Tommy's Pizza in Cranston. I finally got the chance to go there last week and brought 2 of my friends. I spent the whole car ride telling them about how delicious the food was, how big the portions were, how great the prices are... and then reality hit. The pizza was just plain bad. The sauce was watery and the crust was flavorless. It tasted a lot like a frozen pizza. I ordered some baked macaroni (my favorite dish from Tommy's) and was shocked when the $12 "plate" of dried out, flavorless ziti arrived. It was an amazingly small portion and there was next to no ricotta on it. The waitress was never at our table. She was zipping around the restaurant like she was crazy busy but she only had 4 tables. She was short with us and never even attempted to be friendly. The hostess was no better.

Went to Tommy's Cranston location to pick up a large pizza ordered & paid over the phone. Girl who took my order was friendly enough. When me & my husband entered Tommy's it was a dead on a weekday afternoon as to be excepted. Girl at cash register checked in kitchen & stated it would be a few moments before the pizza would be ready...O.K. We sat down and waited up front at the counter, right near the register. When the pizza was ready the 2 girls working at the time were not present at the counter. A short man with a shaved head in his 40s brought the pizza out front ,right in front of us,he looks at us. He had on major puss on his face attitude too. Stands in front of us, pizza in hand, Now he's within 3 feet away and could of greeted us & handed us the pizza. (((Remember it's dead in here at the time)) Instead he looks around for a couple seconds. Then looked at us again never said a word or cracked a smile. Never asked if the order was ours...He then turned around and literally tossed the pizza on the back counter. The way you would toss a magazine down on a coffee table. Then nonchalantly walked back into the kitchen. Nice flipping attitude you got there! No customer service skills will not get my repeat business. Soft skills need to be addressed here at Tommy's Cranston in this yelper's opinion!

I rate this Tommy's only in comparison to the Providence location. Although this one has a larger sitting area and an actual lot, I feel it pales in comparison with the quality of service and pizza quality. The providence location has the rustic homey ambience and friendly service.. When we stepped into the Cranston location, you don't get the same feeling.. The place seems to be overstaffed but there's not much going on. The pizza seems over-sauced and greasy.. I say drive an extra 15 minutes, park on the street and get the full experience with some of the best RI pizza at Tommy's of Providence..

So it appears to be very popular, so just take this with a grain of salt. First, the fish and chips were good. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. The chips were a bit on the flavorless side though. The pizza my daughter had was pretty good. The sauce was very different from what I am used to eating. I liked it, my wife did not. The daughter, who ordered it also liked it. We also ordered a broccoli and cheese pie. This was horrible. The filling was very sparse. It was simply folded over and not closed in. The crust was way over cooked. All in all, a huge waste of money and personally, they should be embarrassed. Second, the waitress was friendly, and like I said, it was busy. But that does not excuse the service that was delivered. We placed a drink order, then had the flag the waitress down 20 minutes later to reminder her. The food finally came out as the two tables next to us, that were seated after us, were paying their bills and leaving. This is the first pizza place I have been to that I can honestly say I will not return to.

This place is great; the food is delicious, and the staff is very nice. The manager came to each table to ask how everyone's meal was. My father came with us on our last trip (we come here often; it's our "default" restaurant to go to) and he was completely blown away. I would only suggest that they get a bigger sign so people don't keep driving by, lol, which my father did several times. Then again, this wonderful place is a nice secret to have in our own back yard. ;)

The pizza is good, service decent and the restaurant clean (unlike the Providence location). Although the pizza is good and well worth the price, it's nothing to rave over. I will go back to this location. In short, decent pizza for the price.

Great pizza...when it isn't charred and drenched in sauce. The rude female that answers the phone there should switch professions. Sounds like a valley girl who needs to take another selfie and gag on a spoon. I used to be a regular until I realized that they don't deserve repeat clientele because they are constantly rude and don't appreciate their customers

Tommys in Cranston also owns Tommys on Chalkstone ave in Providence, the original one. I went to the one in Cranston and all I can say is what a joke, pizza is just ok, has gone down hill. But my biggest complaint is that I ordered a glass of wine and when it was brought to me there was less than 5oz in the glass and they charged me $8.91, and it wasn't even top shelf. What does the owner think, he's up on federal hill? Maybe he thinks he's right up with the old canteen or Andinos, come on your a pizza place, I purchased a bigger glass of wine for less money at Marchettis. All I can do is shake my head and never go back.

Wow. I'm really shocked by these negative reviews calling the pizza at Tommy's "tasteless." Nothing could be further from the truth. I had the privilege of trying Tommy's for the first time yesterday with a couple who swear by their pizza. I had never heard of the place even though I lived in Cranston most of my life. We ordered a large pepperoni and a small with olives. Their large pizza is a rectangle while the small is a circle (not that it really matters). Honestly, this just might be my new favorite non-Neapolitan style pizza in RI. My family usually opts for Caserta or Catanzaro's. Both feature really thick crusts, but Catanzaro's has more topping options. Either way, though, I find the crusts at the other two to be a bit too thick and filling at times. I want something less doughy but still flavorful and crunchy! The crust at Tommy's was fantastic! It was crunchy on the bottom (even the center pieces) and had a nice flavor. It wasn't crunchy like a thin crust; it had a lot more character than that. The sauce was also really generous and flavorful. The pizzas had a lot of flavor! Even though we had only selected single toppings for each of them, they were delicious! I was so impressed by this pizza for giving me the crunchy crust I yearned for without being cracker thin or excessively doughy, that I called my parents immediately after leaving Tommy's to tell them they should try ordering from there next time because it's exactly the style pizza they would love. True story. Nearly all of the 1 star reviews for Tommy's are from people who have hardly written any reviews on Yelp. Some of them have written 10 or less. I never trust reviews written by people like that. I always think it's suspicious, but that's just me. Trust whomever you'd like, but this pizza lover is now officially in love with Tommy. And they deliver :) Good to know for next time!

Tommy's is hit or miss. Although, I'm not sure how I've lived in Rhode Island for almost 10 years and didn't try it until a few months ago. The pizza has been good every time we have ate there. Customer service is just okay, depending on the time of day and staff on... we once waited 30 extra minutes for a takeout order without anyone even apologizing. All in all it is a good pizza place and we will go back.

Not the best fish & chips I've ever had, but not the worst. Face it, I have lived in New England my whole life, which has made me very fussy. The GREASY fish was a total turn-off, though.Had I not gotten an attitude form the female who took my phone order when I mentioned that last time my fries were cold, stale and hollow and I would like fresh ones this time, I would happily have given 3 stars. Over all, you might love it, but we're not likely to order again.

Happened to be out this way for a work related visit. After a very long day a couple of days ago, all I wanted was to get back to my room, have some wine and some eats. Someone at the facility I was auditing highly recommended this place. Coming from Chicago, we have some great pizza places, so my expectations are somewhat high. But that doesn't mean that I can't eat a so so pizza if it has a decent enough crust and sauce. Plus I was starving like Marvin. So on the recommendation of someone who raved about this place, I ordered a pizza to go...I should have kept going to Domino's or Pizza Hut. Was so hungry that I decided to have a piece in the car. Maybe it is my imagination, but it tasted like the "yucky" pizza my daughter described that was served on Tuesdays when she was in grade school. Can't really say it tasted like a pizza. If I had to describe it, maybe Wonder Bread with some Ragu and cheese on it? Ended up throwing it away and driving back to the hotel. Told the doorman about the pizza and he recommended Napolitano's Brooklyn Pizza or Big Cheese. Ended up going to Napolitano's Brooklyn Pizza...great pizza but don't be fooled by the strip mall appearance. Obviously the person that recommended this place has no taste buds if he thought this was great pizza. And I can't say that maybe it is because it is RI and they don't know pizza because Napolitano's did it right. Oh and not only is there no pizza in this place, there is also no customer service...person acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me pay for a bad pizza. Bottom line, if I have to return to the area again for work, I will avoid this place like the plague.

Why isn't there an option to give a restaurant NO stars? I'm not sure which I have a distaste in my mouth for more. Tommy's pizza or the owner of Tommy's pizza. We live relatively close so I ordered a sheet pizza with meatball and onion for delivery. The pizza was scarce. Very little cheese or meatball and an over abundance of acidic red sauce. 2 weeks later my in-laws came over and said they wanted to try it as well. When I ordered again, I mentioned my last pizza hardly had any cheese on it. When the pizza arrived , we were charged for "extra" cheese on this one! I called the owner Tommy the next day an his reply was " I'm shocked. We've been in business for so-and-so years and no one has ever complained about our food!" Well Tommy, do you read yelp?! My last complaint is that I work in the service industry myself and had the misfortune of waiting on Tommy.... Lets just say for someone in the industry of serving people and tips, Mr. Tommy gives a lousy 9-10% himself!

Terrible service. Waitress clearly had no interest in us. We couldn't get pizza made the way we used too (half margarita, half BBQ chicken,) she never filled our water and was super friendly when handing us our bill. No thank you!

I've eaten at Tommy's three times in the last few months, and while I won't gush over their fare by giving it 4 or 5 stars, they definitely do not deserve the plethora of 1 star reviews I'm reading on this page. Could the food be a bit more creative in the taste department...yes, definitely? But it is hardly deserving of the lowest rating one can ascribe to a review. I've tried three different items from their menu...pizza, a grinder and their veal parmigiana. The grinder was hefty in size, but rather lacking in flavor. The pizza was a bit better, with a very crunchy crust, but I found it a bit too greasy for my liking. Finally, the veal parmigiana was made from a lesser grade of veal, which means it had a sinewy texture and although it was quite a good sized portion, was not deserving of the rather hefty $13.99 price affixed to it. One final note on the food... their red sauce really needs to be re-worked. The first thought that came to my mind when I took a bite of my pasta was of Franco-American. The sauce lacked body and tasted as if they opened a few cans of tomato puree, tossed in the standard spices, cooked it for a couple of hours and it was ready. Once again, I reiterate... it is adequate fare for the money, aside from the veal, but not deserving of the lowest rating. To be honest, I wish that Yelp allowed 1/2 star ratings, because I would have given Tommy's 2-1/2 stars, as opposed to three. It's good in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

This will be a very short review - may come back for a longer review when time permits. First off, my wife and I were greeted with a very friendly smile and a "sit wherever you want." I like this - a good start. Window seat, menus dropped off and very pleasant 'your server will be with you in just a minute.' Karen, our server, couldn't have been better. Another friendly smile and very attentive service. Got down to ordering a Green Monster Calzone - stuffed with spinach, cheese, pepperoni and black olives for $4.29. Bread was perfect. Nicely toasted crust, and hot and soft on the inside. Olives mixed with the spinach and cheese were great. Mix in some pepperoni and you have yourself something special. Well worth the $4. This thing is pretty big. Order of Gnocci with red sauce $7.99 with a $1 side of sausage. This was good. Nothing to really take away, or add, to this dish. Bottom Line: Good. Veal Parm Grinder - $7.29. Again, same story here. It was a veal parm grinder with cheese melted on top. Nothing to write home about, but good tasting and filling. Again, bottom line - good. Atmosphere at Tommy's is nice. They definitely put some effort into decorating the place. Very clean and everyone is friendly - including the chefs, who you can see through the kitchen cutout window. May stop back if I'm in the neighborhood, but probably won't go out of my way. A-OK.

I'm normally not one to complain, I've eaten here twice and the food was pretty good. Well tonight I called in an order. Whoever answered the phone was rude. I go to pick up my order, there was not one parking spot, so I had to park in the next lot and walk over. Normally, that's not a big deal, but I'm seven and a half months pregnant. The eggplant pie that I got was mediocre at best. It was bland and it made the dough so soggy that it fell apart and I had to eat it with a fork and knife. I wish Campanella's wasn't closed for vacation because I would have given them my business instead. I'm very disappointed with my order. I gave it one star, but this place really deserves none!!!!

Have been going to Tommy's pizza for a few years now, and I've got to say their pizza is great 90% of the time. The pizza is on the thin side and tastes good.I usually get their small pizza with peppers and cheese on it, well done. The pizza is very reasonably priced $8 for a small which has six slices.unfortunately the other items on the menu are way over priced such as the garden salad for $7, I mean granted it is enough for two people but its a salad! Every restaurant has there off nights once in awhile(which could contribute to the ridiculously unfair warped rating of this place on yelp. if your looking for good pizza try this place out.

I ordered a meatball sandwich with cheese to go. When I unwrapped the sandwich, the very little cheese they had put on the sandwich was stuck to the wax paper, and there was very little sauce. The meatballs were dry and I would not recommend this inferior food. For a place that is supposed to be authentic Italian they fail. The staff when you order act as if they are being inconvenienced by your giving them business. I was giving them a try but I will stick with the Big Cheese.

Judging by the half dozen or so 5-star reviews posted to Tommy's Pizza Too within the last 2 hours, Tommy must be getting worried. And justly so. I can get a better tasting pizza from Domino or Papa Gino. Customer service is terrible. I ordered pepperoni and extra cheese, they give me like 3 pepperoni pieces on a pizza with no extra cheese. And don't dare complain. I refused to pay for the pie and wanted what I actually ordered, and I was threatened with the police. "Ordering food and refusing to pay for it is against the law and I can get a bunch of cops over here to tell you that". Dunno if this was the infamous Tommy telling me that, but I just chuckled as I walked out. NEVER AGAIN!

I recieved a phone call from the owner the next day. It would seem he was unhappy with the negative review I left, but not at all concerned with the quality of his food.He suggested that, rather than leave a bad review, I should just not return. He also went on to say that times are tough. Yes Tommy, times are tough and when I spent my hard earned money on your terrible food it upset me and I decided to save someone else the expence.

Some of the best pizza in this area of Cranston. Currently, I haven't had the opportunity to try any other menu items. Nice, clean, welcoming atmosphere with a real local flare. Mostly, young waitstaff which can be very inconsistent.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Really don't get how any of you other reviewers can possibly give Tommys anything below a 4. One of my top 5 in RI

For lunch their sandwiches and pizza are great. Staff very nice. I've been there there at least a dozen times for lunch and will continue to go.

Bottom line, if I have to return to the area again for work, I will avoid this place like the plague.

since moving to R.I. from N.Y. i've had not found a decent pizza pie yet! Tommy's large square pizza is tasteless! customer service???...where here! forget about it!
