I treated my two nieces to breakfast here. Service: Quick Quick, polite (everyone smiles in this place), friendly Atmosphere: Great Colors, Clean and cute décor Food: Great!! I had the steak and cheese omelet (It's kinda like the Dangelo's #9) Shaved steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheese). Service with big slices of toast and home fries. My nieces order a simple 2 scrabbled eggs with cheese served with toast and home fries. They ate the whole thing! Price: Pretty reasonable.(1omelet special, 2 egg and cheese meals, chocolate milk and a OJ for me) $25 not bad

My family and I went for breakfast on a Sunday for our first time. We were very impressed! It was close to 1pm so it wasn't hugely crowded, though they were pretty busy. We were seated quickly and offered drinks by 3 servers, so the customer service was fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito and added sausage to it. It was delicious! They offered salsa verde on the side which you could tell they made in house. And that was delicious as well. My husband had steak and eggs and he really enjoyed it. Their home fries were yummy too. Our daughter had the Mickey Mouse pancake. It was sizable and she loved it. The service was excellent. We were waited on quickly and never felt forgotten. Coffee refills were very timely. We will definitely be going back!

My mom has been raving about this place for weeks ever since her job had a party here. We went today for breakfast and I was very happy with the experience. The hostess/waitress was super friendly and cheery. I order the #1 (eggs, home fries, toast and bacon). Loved it and it was only $3.99! The owner came around to the tables to say good morning to everyone and was very nice. I will definitely be returning, I hear the mexican food is delicious as well.

Mesa Cafe and Grill serves up so-so American food, but OUTSTANDING, reasonably-priced Mexican food! If you have a hankering for Mexican-anything, this is your cute brekkie/lunch spot! Order now, cause the joint closes at 2 pm, boo! My boyfriend and I needed a pick-me-up after a rough morning (5 am wake-up call to credit card fraud on his account!) and decided to give brekkie at Mesa a whirl. We ordered Mexican dishes based on Yelp recs: Crispy Chicken Tacos and the Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo. Crispy Chicken Tacos....YUM YUM YUM! My new fave Mexican entree here in PVD! For $6.50, you get 5 chicken taquito-looking tacos that are covered in lettuce, pico de gallo, and some sort of queso fresco sauce. This thing fills up an entire plate! The breakfast burrito and hash browns were solid, but it became quite the expensive dish once we added chorizo (8 bucks). If I were a new customer, I'd come for a brunch or lunch and order the Tostadas, Tacos, or Enchiladas. I bet those are delish!

This is a nice neighborhood diner that is fairly spacious on the inside. The menu is pretty good and diverse. I will say that I will probably not return for several reasons (to follow), however there are some good reasons to try them out for yourself. First off the service is great. Coffee stayed toped off and the ladies were very engaged and happy. Second, the daughter loved the 'butterfly waffles' and the banana bread French toast was really good. So the down side for me. First, it is called Mesa, so you would expect some sort of Mexican or New Mexican style breakfast aside from a breakfast burrito. Or at least I would and I was let down. Second, their hash is canned. You can try to upsell it all you want, but it is still a can. And if you read any of my reviews, you know if you serve hash and it comes from a can, especially in RI, 3 stars is your max. Lastly, I have the hungry mans breakfast which has all the proteins and 2 pancakes. I have to admit these pancakes were not very good at all. They were fluffy on the inside, but it too a steak knife to cut into them and they ripped. So big thumbs down. I will say though that the portions are large and the servide is friendly. So still 3 stars,

This is one of my favorite places . My fiancé and I come here a lot and never had any issues with food or service ! We usually do breakfast but the last couple of times we did lunch and I HIGHLY recommend crispy chicken tacos my absolute favorite.. Kind if like a taquito :):) We will def be back to mesa!!!

Breakfast burrito is great but a little undersized

I've been coming here for a couple years and I can say it's only gotten better. Wait staff is always helpful, kind, and enthusiastic. I've come with a friend who has a gluten allergy and she was offered tons of options. No wait.. On a Sunday! The food is always better than I think it will be. Truly a gem.

Mesa Cafe has been a family favorite for many years. I have more recently become fond of their breakfast menu. Today I ordered the Banana Bread French Toast. It is exactly that: 2-3 slices of banana bread dipped in an egg/ vanilla batter and cooked to perfection. They topped it off with a banana and caramel drizzle and whipped creme and walnuts. It was to die for. $8.95 and worth every penny.

Long time Cranston resident and first time here! We usually go to T's or Cozy Grill. But saw this one in another review and decided to check it out. My husband ordered chili and chicken enchiladas at 9am and they were more than happy to serve him. Loved the chili...served with cheese, onion and fancy tortillas strips. The enchiladas were a bit heavy on the cilantro side, but he likes cilantro, so he was happy with them. I had the hash and eggs w/ a waffle. All delish. Would go back for sure and try some more of the Mexican items and more. Nice decor and service was great for a busy Sunday morning.

Nice atmosphere with ample seating, quick and friendly service and delicious food. Flavorful without being too spicy, fresh made to order makes this one of my new favorite places for brunch.

I have never written a Yelp review before, but I love this place so much that I feel compelled to write one. Mesa Cafe and Grill is one of the best breakfast places that I have been to in Rhode Island. The food is amazing and I have had several items off of their menu such as the banana bread french toast, sweet bread french toast, various omelets (the california omelet is the best - ask them to add salsa on top), breakfast skins, crepes, pancakes, etc. I go there almost every weekend for breakfast. Compared to T's which is nearby, Mesa has better food, better prices and you won't have to wait as long if at all. The owner is always there and he is incredibly personable. Mesa Cafe is awesome.

Love eating here, the food is amazing and everyone is friendly and helpful. It does tend to get busy sometimes, but I am never one to be in a rush when I'm out to breakfast so it doesn't bug me. They have amazing specials, last week me and a friend split breakfast potato skins....so we're talking bacon, egg and cheese (and scallions?) INSIDE a potato skin. Are you still reading this or have you gotten in your car to eat there yet? Do it...

Had a great breakfast here on Friday. Ordered the Tex-Mex Omelet which was filled with hash and tomatoes. Very generous serving of hash inside the omelet and it was very tasty (still, probably not made from scratch, but tasty nonetheless). The home fries were very good (hot and crispy, not lukewarm and soggy or undercooked like others I've had.). Service was pleasant and prompt and everything was very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back again.

We went here for breakfast because of everyone raving about the breakfast. Well, they were right! And if we were staying in Providence longer, I'm sure we would have eaten lunch there, too. When we didn't see a leaning toward a Mexican breakfast on the menu, we asked the waitress who gave us that menu from her head. So ask! I had chiliquillas with ranchero sauce, eggs, and black beans. Delicious! My wife had chorizon crambled. Also excellent!

Great place to have breakfast during a break from school with the kids or an lunch on break from work. GReat variety of american and some mexican/spanish dishes for both lunch and breakfast. The Chicken Toastadas are great and the chicken tacos come stuff with chicken and lettuce and cheese on top. Good prices on mostly everything on the menu and great selection. A sit down $5 breakfast is hard to beat when it is really good and freshly made.

Been eating at this place for a few years now. It was originally called Rolfe St. Diner until it changed hands and is now owned/operated by a friendly family. Food is really good as far as eggs/ potatoes type breakfast is concerned. What makes Mesa special is that they add a Mexican flare to a lot of their dishes. Also, their home-made Pico de gallo, Chipotle, and tomatillo salsas are all outstanding. I like to get a standard 2-egg breakfast and cover it either in the pico or the salsa verde. On days that I'm hungrier I go for the famous breakfast burrito, to which I add fresh jalapeno for some extra "umpgh"! Service generally tends to be exceptional as they work as a team and there is constantly someone refilling coffees or looking around making sure everything is good. There have been a couple occasions where something was forgotten on our order and we've had to wait a little while to get it remedied but over-all the service is outstanding. I personally think this is the best breakfast to be had in Cranston. Period.

Another great RI breakfast spot. I love the Mexican influences in the menu. I haven't had a bad breakfast here yet!

Mesa Cafe offers great choices and combinations for breakfast. The food and service was fabulous and the chef came out to ask about our satisfaction. I wish I lived nearby so I could be a regular.

We will not eat here again. Took the whole family for breakfast. Maybe breakfast isn't their thing, but whatever. We all ordered basic breakfast foods. Pancakes with bacon, omelette with hash and cheese and potatoes, scrambled eggs with bacon and potatoes, .... The only one of us that thought the food was good was the guy that had a wicked head cold and couldn't taste much. The potatoes were bland and under cooked. The eggs were greasy. The pancakes tasted like batter. The bacon was way over cooked. And don't order more than one plate of pancakes. We had one adult order and two kids orders. The kids pancakes came out about 10 minutes after the rest of the food came out. I asked the waitress if they got burned or something. She said that they only have one section of the grill that's hot enough for pancakes, and that when they get more than one order of pancakes at a time they back up. Come on...a breakfast joint that can only handle one order of pancakes at a time?? Even if that's the case bring the kids' food out first. The service was good. Drinks came on time as everyone was polite. The only reason why they got two stars.
(2)Michelle V.
Hands down the best local breakfast joint in Cranston!!! Try the breakfast burritto, YUM!!! Great service, super delicious food, very reasonable prices. Forget T's, unless you enjoy waiting an hour for overpriced food, and Harriet's is gross & unclean.
(5)Alicia H.
Best home fries I've ever had. Mesa bennies (eggs Benedict with a twist) are spectacular. This is by far my favorite breakfast place!
(5)Bri P.
The service is the reason me and my mother give this restaurant 3 stars instead of two. I am a fan of French toast. So I tend to order it often at restaurants. This should have in theory been delicious. Banana Bread French Toast with real bananas on top and some extra mess on top. The banana bread was store bought and not home made like I somehow expected it to be. It was also very dry. I had chocolate chips put on top but for 1.50 extra they should have piled the chocolate chips and there were maybe 5 on the plate.

This has been a regular go-to breakfast joint for my family and friends for many years. They always offer a wide selection of specials, in addition to their regular menu of breakfast and lunch items. Definitely try the mexican specials! Probably the best thing that came with the new owners is the mexican food offerings. They have recently made many renovations and upgrades to the restaurant; adding an additional room and new high top tables, circular booths and bright decor.

This is a great breakfast place! A friend of mine brought me last summer and since then i've brought most of my friends and family. Everyone is extremely nice. I've met the cook and owner quite a few times now and both are beyond friendly and helpful. They're menu is quite delicious too, although i usually get my favorite: 2 eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, wheat toast, and a side of hollandaise sauce :) My coffee is never empty either. I recommend Mesa's every time someone wants breakfast. The meals are large and inexpensive. Plus, the paintings in the main room are beautiful to look at while waiting for our food. Nothing compares to Mesas, it is THAT good :D

This has been my favorite spot to get breakfast for over 3 years now. When people want to go anywhere else I put up a fuss until they agree to come here for the first time and they always love it! My coffee is never half full as they are always topping it off. Not only that but the owner comes around frequently to see how everything is going which is very nice. The plates are full and the dish I get takes TWO plates! The Rolfe Street Platter is to die for and for under 8 bucks, you can't lose. I get it : Rye toast, 2 scrambled eggs, french toast, hashbrowns, and bacon with a side of pico de galo! The service is almost always perfect, they accommodate large parties (I went the day of a breast cancer walk and only had to wait 5 minutes and the place was absolutely packed). Hands down, no questions asked, best local place for breakfast. I've brought many friends here and we always leave with full stomachs and smiling faces

First time at Mesa and boy I'm impressed the service is excellent the prices are good and the food outstanding. Defenately coming back.

My Go to For a great Breakfast in Cranston. Good sized portions at a fair price and some killer Mexican specialties for both breakfast and lunch . Check them out!

This place is nothing special foodwise. I think in general people are much too forgiving when rating breakfast places, because come on, breakfast is easy!! This is definitely a place where I could make better food at home. I was not excited about my breakfast here. I ordered eggs benedict florentine, with spinach and tomatoes, along with Canadian beacons: food quality below average and did not taste good, use frozen spinach and I can still taste the freezer burn, the home fries were greasy and burned on each side, the english muffin was very low quality. overly cooked and low quality food. I made my boyfriend ordered the waffles with fresh fruits, and home fries. After awaiting for more than 30min the waitress informed us " Sorry, we had only one waffles maker" I don't understand why can't she inform us from the beginning. The waffles took foreeeeeeevvvver to come out after 40min later... Took at bit of the pretty looking waffle, it was all soggy on the bottom. " that means it has been setting there for who knows" Yuck! Yuck! Overall disappointing experience; I did not find this place to be cheap nor was I impressed with the quality of food or their cooking.. Poor management in the waiting area, food below average, loud atmosphere....Too bad.. the restaurant's actually kind of cute. I won't go back to Mesa Café & Grill.

I'm not sure if my tastes have changed, or if the food has gone downhill lately, but wasn't that impressed last time I went here after a long hiatus. The banana bread french toast I had previously grown to love seemed different - it was thicker, drier and sort of bland. The home fries were too greasy and flavorless, the corned beef hash was ok - and that was the best part of my meal (and it came from a can). The orange juice is the "cheap kind". On the plus side, the service is was very prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, just don't expect too much from your breakfast other than a full belly.

I was looking for new places in the Cranston area and noticed that Mesa had some good reviews so I decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is very cute and cozy and has an extensive breakfast menu. (Can't wait to try lunch!) Our server was very helpful, witty, and sweet. I did try the banana bread french toast everyone raved about. It is quite possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten! My mom had coffee and said it was pretty good, considering it wasn't from DD! She had eggs, toast, and homefries which were very good. I had a breakfast burrito which I enjoyed as well. The homefries are delicious. They don't seem to have a lot of spices on them but they come out very tasty and grilled perfectly. Overall, the food was fresh, the service was excellent (hard to find these days- coming from a former server herself), the atmosphere was just right, and the banana bread french toast was to die for! I can't wait to go back to try their crepes, waffles, several good-sounding omelets, and pancakes! Yummmm! Definitely give this establishment a try, you'll be happy you did!
(4)Jordan D.
Cute little place for breakfast. The food is always consistently good so we order from here about once a month or so. We've never waited more than 5 minutes for a table which is impressive for a breakfast spot. The staff seems nice, sometimes they are a little blah (maybe they need a coffee?) but hey, if the food is good and the servers get the orders right and the restaurant is clean, I'll keep returning.
(4)Dustin S.
This is a great place to go! Home made food made better! They have great coffee and it's always fresh I saw them rebrew pots over and over so you always have a fresh cup! The home fries are perfect and I love home fries and this place does it right with clarified butter and not left to sit but made to order so they are not soggy in the middle. My omelette was excellent and it was made right not like places I have gone where it's eggs tossed in that's a scrambler not an omelette! This place is fast fresh and the service is great to everyone is moving and you don't have to wait for anything. In a city like Providence finding restaurants is easy finding places to go back to is hard because all the choices. This is the place we will be going back to!
(5)William A.
Excellent place for breakfast! We had the chilaquiles and they were perfect! We are tourists from Va just passing through when Yelp recommended we stop here for breakfast.
(5)Q B.
Visiting from NYC, decided to stop here for brunch. We has the eggs Benedict Benjamin and Mesa. It was gooood! A little but too much cheese but very tasty. Nice decor and friendly waitress
(4)Krystal J.
This restaurant has greatly improved since my last not so pleasant visit. The service was fantastic, the food was perfectly cooked and I feel it's only fair that I give them a better review since there has been such drastic positive changes. I came in around 730am and was kindly greeted. I ordered an egg white omelet with spinach, tomato, onion and cheese with a side of fruit instead of home fries and wheat toast. My coffee cup got refilled 3 times too. The waitress was very attentive which I really feel makes for a good restaurant experience. I would definitely order it again in a heartbeat. I'm happy that this place has improved so much since I go to breakfast before my workout every morning and this location is on my way to the track. They will be getting a lot more business from me from this day forward. :)
(5)Jon F.
Delicious breakfast, great service and really hospitable owner. Especially good home fries. Made my morning.
(5)Shannon B.
I've been back here regularly since my initial review, which is a pretty good indication that it will still get lots of stars from me! Over the past year, the restaurant has expanded, creating a second dining area that also serves a function place. The interior is updates, but still maintains a funky, colorful vibe. The staff has increased, but the new members are old faces now, and well-trained! Always friendly, accommodating, and generally quick to refill, although coffee is a bit of a hassle on a busy day. The food is great, the specials are imaginative, and it's not uncommon to see the owner slinging eggs and waiting tables. My only small quibble is the pricing, which (for sides and coffee) doesn't match the menu. $1.35 for a 1oz side of green salsa seems steep, and, at nearly $3.00, coffee should be refilled more regularly. Neither of these things are major issues...I love little, local Mesa Cafe, and will definitely be back.
(5)Allie P.
Solid breakfast and lunch. Food is good but nothing special. The interior is warm and inviting with cushy booths and tables near the window. Staff has always been professional and accommodating.
(4)Shannon A.
I Always have an amazing breakfast here. Owner and wait staff are always friendly. Once you go here you will become regulars.
