I've been coming to Harriet's for awhile now, they have good size portion, friendly staff and usually quick service. The omelets are huge and delicious. Only bad thing I have to say is the inconsistency of the home fires, on some days their the best I've ever had and on other days they can be burnt and overcooked.

Service is definitely lacking... We went for breakfast and it wasn't that crowded. Still....Waited 10 minutes to even get noticed or offered coffee. Ordered...and requested NO homefries but spicy apples instead. Got our plates WITH homefries. ..and hard spicy apples on the side. Our omletes were "ok".....They were a good size..and stuffed..however the veggies were more of chunks rather than chopped so you could eat the omletes easily. Looks like only 2 waitresses were actually working. Although we noticed at least 3 other "workers" standing around. I think they were more concerened with looking cute or not breaking a fingernail (Not sure). Our waitress was very nice but too busy to even bring us more coffee.... When she finally did come back she had 1 water not coffee. Now when I go to cashout the 3 staff memebers were still hoovered at the register. It took 4 minutes just to get cashed out even. I was the only person there at that time. Then I had to ask for a pen to sign my sales slip gessh. Overall the place is okay but the service really sucks.

This was my first time here and it really exceeded my expectations. Let's set the scene. 1am on a Saturday night and I pass this place with a full parking lot and I knew something was up. Full menu late night is amazing. Everyone on here seems to talk about the home fries and I agree they are the best! Great to have a late night diner in the area. Fast service, great staff, clean, and super fair prices....and did I mention home fries?

Harriet's Kitchen has the real wow factor for a filling and delicious breakfast. First off, the waitresses are very friendly. The food comes out very fast, especially considering I came in with a large group. The portion sizes are huge! A plate of pancakes fills an entire large plate with multiple layers. The topping selection is awesome and fun - with out skimping on whipped cream and fruit options. The bacon was very well made and tasty. The home fries were really done to perfection! The fruit was very fresh, and definitely try their baked spiced apples! Overall, Harriet's does not disappoint and truly knows the value of a good, hearty, and filling start to the day!

The owner of Harriets invited us to come back after reading about our bad experience there. We decided to give it another chance. We were greeted and served coffee right away. Our orders came out extremely fast and the food was ok....no complaints. The owner came by to say hi and talked to us about our previous visit. After we were finished eating the waitress said there was no charge. It was very nice of him and you can tell he cares what people think of his place and wants you to be a satisfied customer.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Huge portions, yummy home fries..Very inexpensive kids meals-(hooray, as usually they are overpriced). A HUGE menu of breakfast and lunch items.. The service was very nice and helpful. Only complaint--- service was slow-we waited 30 minutes for our food, probably because of the huge crowd and need for additional servers. Be prepared to wait, wouldn't bring a large party between 10 and 2. All menus very reasonably priced.. Finally a great breakfast/brunch joint that doesn't break the bank...

Been here a few times and every time I go it gets worse and worse (food and service). Went on a ThursdAy morning and Sat outside in patio for almost 20 minutes without 1 server coming outside. Went inside twice to ask for someone to come out but Nothing. So I left disappointed and hungry. Will never come back

Fantastic breakfast. Very clean and very nice establishment. I really like that I can walk there from my Apartment.
(5)Mike C.
Really good food with large portions. Not the greatest environment as it is cramped and service could be better.

Nice bkfast spot. There's outside eating as well, but seated on right off main road/noisy street. Food was good, prices: fair. Waiters could be more friendly. Our party had to ask for napkins, utensils, condiments. Waitresses answered by walking away, without speaking. Drop off the stuff and leave.

Tuesday morning, the last thing we (fiance and I) needed was a snobby waitress. Okay so maybe she's having a bad day, fine. We ordered- I had stuffed french toast and he had corn beef hash, in which he asked for well done, crispy outside. Food came and wow did my stuffed french toast look amazing! looks can be deceiving. I sliced and bit into what was the soggiest, just watered down toast. They had used frozen, yes frozen thawed out blueberries and strawberries. When i asked the waitress is my dish suppose to be this wet and watery, she said it was the juice from the fruits. The only fresh fruit were the bananas. If I'm going to pay nearly $9 for two slices of french toast and fruits, the very least it could have been fresh fruit. On to the corn beef hash. We always, I mean always order corn beef hash no matter what breakfast diner we go to. Luckily, we know what good corn beef hash is suppose to taste like so we just made an exception. Their version was just down right slimey, taste so metallic as if it's been poured out from a can. We asked for well done, it came out as a plop. Just nasty. Two stars for the fresh banana and yummy home fries. maybe service was bad for us because I had no make up on, who knows. All I know is the men around me had superb friendly good mornings and smiles. we got smirks.

First time we have been to Harriet's, I noticed it rated as a top breakfast place in AAA. We eat out for breakfast on the weekends so we have a pretty good sampling of places. Wife had hash with dropped egg, kids had French toast and ham & cheese omelet, I had spinach & cheese omelet. We could barely finish our plates, big servings and all was delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and made sure our beverages were topped off. Looking at the menu we will be back for more than breakfast. Definitely a 5 star rating.

Second time....worse than the first. Last year my husband and I gave this place a try after reading a local news article about the home fries. The food was "okay" but we were missing spoons and we couldn't get the waitress's attention. Today we thought we'd try it again. Mistake. No greeting, no "be right with you", not even a smile. The waitresses just kept walking by us. We watched another couple come in, sit down and get waited on right away. We finally just got up and left. Never again. Thank goodness for T's Restaurant.

Loved it! The breakfast is awesome, and the portion sizes are amazing! If I am ever back in the Western Cranston area, I will stop in for breakfast again!

It's the best of the greasy breakfast places in cranston. They give you a hearty amount and they are very cheap. If you've had a few too many the night before and you are craving a nice greasy breakfast this is your place. It's greasy in a good way.
(3)Mike C.
The homefries...oh man. I love this place. I have met the owner. He is a nice guy. I have been here plenty of times and the food is very consistent. I usually get an omlet with peppers onion, ham and cheese. I always walk out happy. Though the pancakes are a little small, they are very good. Its not the cheapest place either, but worth it in my opinion.

If you ask ANYONE who knows Barrington Burns, they'll tell you this - I hate having to leave a review like this. Harriet's kitchen looks like a great place, good service, no obscene waiting, great spot to play a little Keno. I honestly think it warrants a second chance. I got a veggie omelet with american cheese, which, after completing, almost immediately made me very gassy. Didn't really taste good, was pretty runny, which for an omelet is generally not a great sign. Potatoes were good, nice hot cup of Joe was never empty. Won a buck playing keno. My disappointment stems from the four egg omelet generating so much excitement that I dug right in. I was not half as excited when it shot out the other end - with great propulsion. I would hate to see them lose any business based on this assessment. They run a tight ship over there, and do a bang up job cultivating a great relaxing atmosphere for a casual breakfast. Still, that being said, we are all consumers in this wild world, and I was sad to consume that omelet.

Love this place! Steak & cheese is awesome. The bread that it comes with is fresh baked instead of a regular sub roll. Plus they are open late night.
(5)Krystal O.
Eggs were cooked just as I wanted them... they were not cheap with the bacon.. home fries were delicious...soft and full of flavor. Italian toast with the perfect amount of butter. And that's just the basic meal!
(5)Dave P.
Gave it another try and it was worth it! Walked in and seated myself. Food arrived at a normal time and it was delicious.

I drive by Harriets all the time. I kept telling myself I would try it someday. Today was the day. I have to say, I am impressed. I just had breakfast with a friend, but breakfast can be special. This breakfast was. Lots of food and reasonably priced. I wouldn't say cheap, but that's because I have a great cheap place in Pawtucket! My friend had the breakfast special. It said two eggs, toast, and home fries. It looked like four scrambked eggs on the plate! The eggs were perfect. People think scrambled eggs can't come out bad, but they can. These were really good. I hot the big breakfast with BOTH pancakes and french toast, with two eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast. The idea was split this plate. Everything was done right, and I have lots of leftovers! I'll be back!

One of my favorite breakfast places in Cranston. I love the food and I love the atmosphere. The coffee never stops flowing and the portions are great. I often try to order something different every time but no matter what I order, I always leave satisfied. Harriet's Kitchen is a great place to hang out with family or catch up with friends. It's small get togethers are best.

As a huge fan of brunch/ breakfast I was presently surprised to find this wonderful diner! The prices are extremely cheap for what they give you . The quality of the food is fabulous , and their service is fast and efficient . The waiters and waitresses are always polite and I frequent here quite often!

We enjoyed a delightful breakfast in a clean, inviting atmosphere. The waitress was cheerful and the food was top notch!

This was my family's meeting spot after church on Sundays. We would all meet up here and wait in the long line out the door on a late Sunday morning. By the time we were seated, we were always pleasantly greeted immediately by the same faces that were there every week. Up until today, the atmosphere remains the same... Quaint and humble and cozy. The food has wavered a bit over the years... The home fries used to be outstanding but now they are nearly anything special. However, the chocolate chip pancakes are still to die for! I think Harriet's is the top breakfast spot in Cranston... Especially now since they have extended their hours into the late night hours for the bar hoppers on the weekends.

Cute little breakfast place. Good food, fast service, low prices... Very busy and you may have to wait on busy days like Saturdays and Sunday's...

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. Their food is decent but the service is awful. Rude, poorly trained waitstaff with major attitudes. Bad energy and atmosphere. First time I ever left a one dollar tip..I will not be returning. Any place where you can play the lottery while you eat is not for me.

I am from out of town and had about a hour to kill before my meeting when I saw this restaurant. The food was good, I had the meatloaf dinner, and the staff very friendly. I can understand why the local customers come back, it was obvious that the staff knew most people inside. This is diner style food at its best.

Good Breakfast in a cool little space. I just had eggs and bacon which were great, but I saw some gigantic waffles passing by with fruit and whipped cream that made my head whip around. If you're on atwood (hopefully shopping at @Ruggieri's) its worth a stop.
(3)Wendy O.
The eggs benedict were a mess, but the person I went with enjoyed their pancakes. The bill came to $30.00 which was outrageously expensive for mediocre food!

Perhaps some people are disappointed with Harriet's because they are not evaluating it in the appropriate context, so I'm gonna save my fellow breakfast goers some unnecessary heartache and break it down for you all right here: Do NOT expect a gourmet brunch, forget about organics, and don't even think about trying to order healthy. Harriet's is basically a diner, so treat her like one and she will be good to you. Example: Don't go in mid summer expecting that your fruit pancakes will actually be FRESH fruit, even if it is in season. Not happening. You're gonna get the frozen canned stuff, blueberries and strawberries drowning under magenta pre-packaged juices - sanguine, gruesome, but yummy. The home fries are exceptionally good, sliced, fried. Think scalloped without the cheese. Its unusual for breakfast, but I love it. These potatoes alone have brought me back here on numerous occasions, so definitely get a side order if they are not included in your meal. Another great thing about this place is the service - it is FAST! Like lightning speed, even on weekends. Come hungry, eat, pay, and be on your way home within a half hour. Prices are reasonable although for what it is and its location, I expect it to be slightly cheaper. I will never understand the markup on food that occurs throughout Cranston, but thats another story. A-OK indeed.

I've been going to Harriet's for years ad I've never had a bad experience there. The food is delicious! Comes in very large portions, for a very small price. All of the staff is nice to talk to. Love it there!
(4)Kelly M.
As the other reviewers said, very good breakfast. Alot of food. Strong, fresh ground coffee, a good cup. Potatoes are generous and tasty, none of that nasty citric acid soaked flavor to these sliced breakfast potatoes. My husband had the biscuit and gravy, good biscuit. Drop style and clearly fresh baked! Very quick service, diverse customers J&W sweatshirts, couples young and old alike. A keeper!

Agree totally with the last review, Harriet's is what it is...a breakfast joint. No organics, more cholesterol than you need and no free WiFi makes it a blue collar breakfast place. You can't review it as if it was a trendy cafe on the East Side. With all that said I can say it is probably one of the best breakfast restaurants around, I have been going there for years and everything is excellent, quantities are plentiful and service is prompt!
(4)J R.
Vanessa's review is spot on... not sure why anyone would expect a gourmet breakfast, its not the restaurant's intent. Menu, amazing selection of omelets, combos, etc. Typically a traditional breakfast/diner menu. Homefries... hands down the best among some of the best breakfast places in RI... Julians, English Muffin, and T's included... Harriets definitely KILLS it with their homefries. Everything else is well put together. The hash is awesome, eggs always cooked well, prices are reasonable, and the service for the most part is satisfactory. Oh and their coffee is awesome... definitely that good "diner" cup of joe. Very important for breakfast. Have been going for years, and will continue to go for years.
