I'm not from this area, but I do have family up there, and I went here for the dinner portion of my cousin's bachelor party. I give it four stars for the generous portions, the reasonable prices, and the fact that the food is very good. I did get a little annoyed after a while of the hibachi chef acting like an American frat boy, squirting sake into everyone's mouths, and singing "oleeeee, ole ole ole!" It was entertaining at first but a bit much after ten minutes. People seem to like it though, and it obviously works well for them. Good food and good times!

More Sake! More Happy! OMG, what a riot! I loooooove this place! A few co-workers took me out here while I was visiting our Wilkes-Barre office. The chef at our hibachi table was probably one of the most funniest chefs I've ever seen. Sorta like Benihana's with the tricks, but funnier. The food was cooked in HUGE portions. The noodles alone filled my plate. Plus, the chefs would come around and squirt sake from ketchup bottles into your mouth as everyone yelled, "More Sake! More Happy!" It was seriously one of the most fun I have ever had whilst eating japanese food. I highly recommend this place if you are going to be in the area.

Here it is. My wife n I try all Japanese restaurants by far between Binghamton Ny and Wilkes barre pa this is The Best ! Prices r more reasonable, great portions staff is excellent, food was perfect. And now the fun they know how to make u laugh and enjoy the hibachi more than other jap restaurants. Nothing like having saki squirted down your throat while dinner is being cooked in front of you. I have only visited Mirakuya for sushi so I can't provide an opinion on the hibachi. That being said, the sushi seems sub-par for the price. I would recommend a visit only for their inexpensive "lunch special" or the half price sushi special on Sundays.

The host remembers us and seats us in the seats without question every time we visit. The hibachi is the most entertaining in the area. It's always very busy, but our service doesn't suffer because of it. They have recently added more variety to their sushi selection and the daily specials add to this as well. Best place in the Wyoming Valley for sushi.

C'MON!!!...If you wanna get the Party started Quickly you need to have Hibachi at this place. If your not into getting Saki squirted into your Mouth you should probably just stay home and watch episodes of Murder She Wrote. If you want to hang with Keva and the rest of the Entertaining Staff this is the place for you. The food is great as well. You'll be high-fiving strangers by the end of your meal. The Spicy Squid is a great way to kick off the night on the Appetizer Tip.

We came here on a Sunday night for dinner. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, it was quite crowded - but, we got seated within about 5 minutes. We sat down around one of the hibachi grills, and gave our orders about 10 minutes later. Another 10 minutes passed by when one of the hibachi chefs came along. The chef, referring to himself as "Justin Bieber," was energetic, interacted with the customers, did the traditional light the grill on fire wiz bangs, etc. It was fun, however, it was pretty obvious he was making one of the customers quite uncomfortable by constantly driving the attention towards her. One of the pros (maybe cons?) of the hibachi experience is that we got to see all the ingredients that went into making our dish. I ordered the salmon hibachi, and let me tell you, a lot of butter, oil, and soy sauce went into making this dish. The soy sauce was absolutely overwhelming, masking any flavor there was to the salmon, rice, and vegetables. The plus is that the salmon wasn't overcooked!

Mirakuya is the best place for sushi hands down in Wilkes-Barre. As someone who has tried the rest I can say this with the certainty. The only downside is that their ventilation system seems to not like to keep up with the hibachi tables and you leave smelling like hibachi most of the time. A small price to pay for great sushi.

I'm in town for work and this is the second time here. There are many good things about this place. The other views are correct they do pour sake down your mouth until you tell them to stop or the bottle is out of squeezes, but I have sat both hibachi table and sushi bar and both are a good time. Even at the sushi bar they keep a bottle of sake to shoot at you but past that gimmick everything I have eaten here has been very good. The sushi comes out presented very nice and the flavors are there. They make their own spicy tuna mix and every single staff member I have met has been so friendly and attentive that I couldn't ask for better service. Highly suggest

And like any fun-filled interactive show - you better bring your "A" game because the Hibachi Ninjas are coming for you!!! The typical hibachi joints have nothing on the crazy antics and carnival-like atmosphere created by the Mirakuya staff. Mirakuya chefs - jesters of the grill, if you will - show up to party, and they defy you to not be part of the celebration. A grill-side seat at Mirakuya means a non-stop party, so sit down and open wide and get yourself ready for a face-full of sake!!! After all, more sake equals more happy! Everyone knows this. Need some soy sauce for that sushi? No, you don't. You do not put anything on that Crazy Dragon or Pizza Roll you clown!!! The sushi tastes too good for sauce. You're ruining it. Just take that sauce and throw it at the chef. You don't need it. Mirakuya has been the best restaurant to start an evening for nearly 10 years now, and because of its less traveled location on Kidder Street, it has remained a secret for all this time. People who love hibachi+sushi+sake know there is only one place to go. Mirakuya is translated to "tasty" - and gets it right every time.

Visited with a group of friends for Hibachi. I don't normally eat sushi, but I had a few pieces of a friend's Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll and it was really delicious. The clear broth was tasty, as was the steak off the hibachi. The fried rice was some of the most flavorful I've had in the area! I also had chicken, but the marinade was way too sweet for me. I would have given this place more stars, but I will hesitate to return only because (though fun) I was inundated with sake from the chef over and over again - and after the 12th time, it became a little much. My hibachi chef didn't seem to care that I told him that I didn't want any more sake, but that just resulted in sake-soaked clothing. My friends had to drive my home and now I have a hangover the size of Nagasaki.

Sadly I was a bit underwhelmed by this restaurant. I had the sushi here so I can't speak for the hibachi, which looks like a lot of fun. Who can complain about an Asian guy spraying a stream of sake into people's mouths? More sake more happ-ay! I ended up getting a spicy tuna hand roll and a chirashi. The spicy tuna hand roll had a whole bunch of the crunchy texture in it which ended up drying out the spicy tuna. I was sad about this because I usually love spicy tuna. My chirashi was also a bit disappointing. People who know me know that I love my raw fish. I left a lot of it untouched and didn't eat a lot of it. Most of it didn't taste very fresh to me. The hamachi was rolled up and dry, the salmon had strings in it, and the ebi was a bit rubbery. The rice was also served all stuck together in a triangular cube, and was not fluffy and flavored. The service was good, and that made up for some of the disappointing food, but I guess that's my fault for trying to find super fresh sashimi in NEPA.

For those who have lived or adventured in other places besides the Valley, you probably have experienced jaw-dropping sushi. I'm not saying Mirakuya doesn't have their few exceptions, but the reality of the situation is that there is better sushi to be had outside of Nepa. That being said, Mirakuya is all about the lunch special. $10.95 for three rolls including soup and salad; a steal in my book. The food wasn't too shabby either. Pretty delicious actually. And our server was so fun. He didn't get all flustered when I asked for a free shot of saki for my "birthday" at 11am. He came right over and delivered doubly - one for me and my friend. Leveled off my hangover nicely while stuffing my face with too much food. If I was a harsher critic, it would realistically be given 3 stars. But in my most recent experience I felt like the food was equivalent to what you pay and that I left happy and full. You know I'll be back.

This is the "mothership" Mirakuya restaurant in the area. The sushi is good and consistant. I love the service, the prices, the atmosphere, and almost every other thing about this restaurant....having said that I dislike the plaza that it is located in, being difficult to turn into, and I think that the setup of the Hazleton Mirakuya is better. So long story short, I love the place, but I love the Hazleton location even more.

I LOVE Mirakuya! The food here is amazing! They give you gigantic portions that usually fill me that night and for lunch/dinner the next day! The ginger salad dressing they use is like a drug to me! I leave there thinking about the next time I will be able to taste it! I usually get half rice half noodles with my hibachi because it is too hard to just choose one! They are very flexible with being "picky" with your meal as well as giving separate checks to a large party (I know some restaurants cringe when 4+ people ask for separate checks). I have also eaten there just at the sushi bar. The fish is very fresh and and the spicy tuna roll and Y2K roll are to die for! Now... let's talk about the Saki! Most Japanese restaurants are known for giving out free samples of Saki, but Mirakuya goes above and beyond! The chef will keep squirting it into your mouth as long as you keep swallowing it! If you are capable of chugging, I'd suggest bring a designated driver! You can get a buzz on without actually spending a dime on alcohol, although they also have awesome mixed drinks such as the 24K margarita made with Patron if you feel like splurging! If you don't drink or simply aren't interested in a stranger squirting rice wine down your throat, they are very respectful and don't force it on you. I really can't say more good things about this place! The chefs are very skilled and keep the table well entertained as well as providing you with a delicious meal! Out of the 4 Japanese restaurants I have experienced in this area, I would definitely put Mirakuya on the top of the pile!

Surprisingly very good! I'd read all the positive reviews on this place and needed somewhere to eat lunch with my mother, so we drove up the the mall to the "old Top Dog" location. From the outside it looks like a pit. We almost didn't go in, but due to the high reviews, we decided to brave it. Once inside, the place is great! The sushi was excellent and we had a great lunch. Can't judge a book by it's cover. If they did some work on the entrance, I think this place could knock it out of the ballpark. I was thinking some nice asian fabrics or decals covering the windows near the front door would look real nice & inviting.

I like Mirakuya, despite myself. I like sushi, I particularly like really well sourced seafood and authentic (as authentic as I can find around here) sushi...this is not exactly that. This is more of the jaw-dropping balls of flame from the hibachi, monstrously oversized maki roll, 'can i deep fry that for you' kind of establishment...but very tasty. Very friendly, accommodating, satisfying experience. Good lunch specials, too! For being on the strip in Wilkes-Barre this is a pretty darn good find!

Mirakuya is the Japanese restaurant equivalent of a frat house. The Hibachi chefs run around constantly squirting cheap sake in people's mouthes. The "more sake more happy" shtick gets really old after 5 minutes. The food is average to below average depending on the item. The soup and salad given before a hibachi dinner are pathetic. The chicken and shrimp hibachi dinner I had wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. The really odd thing about this place is that the food isn't very good, but the prices are on par with Katana. So what am I paying for? The cheap sake getting squirted into people's mouthes? They certainly didn't put much in to the decor. If you have a group of guys who are about to partake in a bachelor party, Mirakuya is a great choice. If you're going out to actually eat food, go to Katana.

I literally love Mirakuya. Living only five minutes away I'm basically there once if not twice a week when I'm home from philly. The food is so crazy good I would recommend it to anyone. I'd have to say I've tried about half of the menu so far and I never once have had a bad dish ever. Sushi sunday is the best deal around by far and making a reservation is probably a good idea. The wait service is always great and for the exception of a little bit of broken english, I could never complain about the people they have working. The guy who owns it is a sweet heart and is really good friends with a lot of his customers. For birthdays they do a whole gong and singing ceremony followed by fried icecream which is cute. I love sitting down at a table or the sushi bar and just hanging out. Atmosphere is nice and its not too loud. Hibachi is good, but once you've seen the show once, there really isn't a need to go again. Sometimes I'll take people who have never seen hibachi before just so they can get the show but I always get a table. The portions are big, the food is excellent, the prices are great, the staff is friendly and helpful (esp. with big parties and sep. checks). I've tried other japanese restaurants but none compare to Mirakuya. My favorites are the clear soup, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura appetizer, and spicy squid. All around excellent restaurant, the guy who runs this place is a genius and I see them staying in Wilkes-Barre for a very long time.

This ain't Japanese food... Cold broccoli, weird rice, crap sushi... I guess it's fine for white people that can't tell that the waiters are literally speaking Chinese right next to them. They don't know what they're doing

Had a fantastic lunch at Mirakuya. For $10, the amount of food provided was insane (in a good way!) The hibachi is great quality and piping hot when it arrives at the table and the service is very good, always checking to make sure you had a full drink.

This is the "mothership" Mirakuya restaurant in the area. The sushi is good and consistant. I love the service, the prices, the atmosphere, and almost every other thing about this restaurant....having said that I dislike the plaza that it is located in, being difficult to turn into, and I think that the setup of the Hazleton Mirakuya is better. So long story short, I love the place, but I love the Hazleton location even more.

I LOVE Mirakuya! The food here is amazing! They give you gigantic portions that usually fill me that night and for lunch/dinner the next day! The ginger salad dressing they use is like a drug to me! I leave there thinking about the next time I will be able to taste it! I usually get half rice half noodles with my hibachi because it is too hard to just choose one! They are very flexible with being "picky" with your meal as well as giving separate checks to a large party (I know some restaurants cringe when 4+ people ask for separate checks). I have also eaten there just at the sushi bar. The fish is very fresh and and the spicy tuna roll and Y2K roll are to die for! Now... let's talk about the Saki! Most Japanese restaurants are known for giving out free samples of Saki, but Mirakuya goes above and beyond! The chef will keep squirting it into your mouth as long as you keep swallowing it! If you are capable of chugging, I'd suggest bring a designated driver! You can get a buzz on without actually spending a dime on alcohol, although they also have awesome mixed drinks such as the 24K margarita made with Patron if you feel like splurging! If you don't drink or simply aren't interested in a stranger squirting rice wine down your throat, they are very respectful and don't force it on you. I really can't say more good things about this place! The chefs are very skilled and keep the table well entertained as well as providing you with a delicious meal! Out of the 4 Japanese restaurants I have experienced in this area, I would definitely put Mirakuya on the top of the pile!

Surprisingly very good! I'd read all the positive reviews on this place and needed somewhere to eat lunch with my mother, so we drove up the the mall to the "old Top Dog" location. From the outside it looks like a pit. We almost didn't go in, but due to the high reviews, we decided to brave it. Once inside, the place is great! The sushi was excellent and we had a great lunch. Can't judge a book by it's cover. If they did some work on the entrance, I think this place could knock it out of the ballpark. I was thinking some nice asian fabrics or decals covering the windows near the front door would look real nice & inviting.

I like Mirakuya, despite myself. I like sushi, I particularly like really well sourced seafood and authentic (as authentic as I can find around here) sushi...this is not exactly that. This is more of the jaw-dropping balls of flame from the hibachi, monstrously oversized maki roll, 'can i deep fry that for you' kind of establishment...but very tasty. Very friendly, accommodating, satisfying experience. Good lunch specials, too! For being on the strip in Wilkes-Barre this is a pretty darn good find!

Surprisingly good for kinda the middle of smalltown usa! The 2 or 3 roll plus soup and salad is a greata dear. Not sure what kind of soup it was or what kind of salad dressing but it was delicious and unique (at least for me) I'm told it's the only place in Wyoming valley to do sushi. Trans Friendly- C- Not so sure.. i got a wierd vibe but i was sucking face with another girl and it was more likely anti lesbo malaise.

Mirakuya is the Japanese restaurant equivalent of a frat house. The Hibachi chefs run around constantly squirting cheap sake in people's mouthes. The "more sake more happy" shtick gets really old after 5 minutes. The food is average to below average depending on the item. The soup and salad given before a hibachi dinner are pathetic. The chicken and shrimp hibachi dinner I had wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. The really odd thing about this place is that the food isn't very good, but the prices are on par with Katana. So what am I paying for? The cheap sake getting squirted into people's mouthes? They certainly didn't put much in to the decor. If you have a group of guys who are about to partake in a bachelor party, Mirakuya is a great choice. If you're going out to actually eat food, go to Katana.

I literally love Mirakuya. Living only five minutes away I'm basically there once if not twice a week when I'm home from philly. The food is so crazy good I would recommend it to anyone. I'd have to say I've tried about half of the menu so far and I never once have had a bad dish ever. Sushi sunday is the best deal around by far and making a reservation is probably a good idea. The wait service is always great and for the exception of a little bit of broken english, I could never complain about the people they have working. The guy who owns it is a sweet heart and is really good friends with a lot of his customers. For birthdays they do a whole gong and singing ceremony followed by fried icecream which is cute. I love sitting down at a table or the sushi bar and just hanging out. Atmosphere is nice and its not too loud. Hibachi is good, but once you've seen the show once, there really isn't a need to go again. Sometimes I'll take people who have never seen hibachi before just so they can get the show but I always get a table. The portions are big, the food is excellent, the prices are great, the staff is friendly and helpful (esp. with big parties and sep. checks). I've tried other japanese restaurants but none compare to Mirakuya. My favorites are the clear soup, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura appetizer, and spicy squid. All around excellent restaurant, the guy who runs this place is a genius and I see them staying in Wilkes-Barre for a very long time.

Sushi was very good as usual & my friends had hibachi, which was also good. The server was rushing us out before we all got our food. There was a group of us for a friends birthday and they were grabbing our plates to wrap our food before everyone was done eating.

Over-priced, loud and silly. Half of our party was vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu they could eat. They were the lucky ones. This place was better when it was Top Dog.

I haven't been here in a few years, but it was the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in NEPA. Great customer service. Huge, fresh servings of sushi for very reasonable prices.
