This looks like it should be just a neighborhood bar from outside, but upstairs is seating and a great menu. For GF eaters like me, the bartender had Tito's vodka to make a great martini. The menu is well marked with many gf options. I had a filler free crab cake that was very good and excellent risotto. And Creme brûlée for dessert.

Great food, great environment, & the best martinis! Friendly staff and I have never been disappointed.

I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Just recently we were a party of eight and enjoyed a fantastic dinner. I rarely get chicken when out but I could not resist their stuffed chicken. My children had the salmon and they loved it. The eggplant rolentini is also a must. Also, they have a very good wine selection and I believe they make one of the best martinis in town.

Was a good meal overall with good service. Not much to look at from the outside, but inside the place has a comfortable feel to it. Had a meat loaf special - very flavorful and plenty of food. Other food served was good as well. The only aspect that could have been better was the salad. The dressing was good, but the salad itself was iceberg - just doesn't cut it nowadays.

My boyfriend and I went there to escape the madness of Our day to day lives and were treated to a lovely dinner. The food ( I had the stuffed pork chop and he had seafood fra diavolo) was delicious. Ashlee was our server and she was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. We will return.:)

Brought my work team of 15 here for dinner recently. None of us were native to the area (in fact, only one was even from Pennsylvania - the rest of us were from different parts of the country.) So we assumed that our only option for a nice dinner in town was Olive Garden. However, we were all quite wrong! Cork is a great dinner spot in Wilkes Barre for a cozy yet elegant dinner. The restaurant is in a remodeled home, so the bar is right where the living room is and I'm pretty sure we had dinner upstairs in someone's old bedroom. But it works really well for creating an intimate, welcoming ambiance. As far as the food - I'm an adventurous eater, so I was happy to see options like stuffed salmon, Reuben spring rolls, and tilapia francaise on the menu. Everyone (i.e. 3:2 guy girl ratio) enjoyed the fried appetizers and protein-heavy entrees. The service was excellent too - two waitresses attended our large group, and we had our waters refilled when they noticed that the ice in our glasses had melted. The one weak part of this restaurant was that it had NO vegan friendly options. Even the chips that came with the spinach artichoke dip were flaked with cheese. All of the appetizers had dairy or meat in some form, or otherwise was fried. Overall, I highly recommend coming here for a date, a special occasion, or just to hang out.

I've been to Cork many times, and I've never been disappointed. The atmosphere is very nice (Sit in the bar for a casual evening or head upstairs for tables and candles) and the service is friendly and attentive. I love their homemade meatballs, and their drinks are always delicious. They have wine flights, too, if you're in the mood for variety. I had penne with vodka sauce the other day that was just amazing; I find that vodka sauce can sometimes been too bland (maybe too much cream and not enough sauce), but theirs was quite perfect. Also, I love that this place is great for a night with your girlfriends, your boyfriend, or your mother. Very versatile, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back.

I had the spinach and artichoke dip, and the flatbread. The dip it self was good, but the chips were not good ,They were too greasy. The flat bread was very bad. It was to soggy. my husband had the stuffed pork chops, and said there was too much sauce on it, And The scalloped potatoes weren't season properly. Then he vomited 30 minutes later!

Wonderful experience at Cork. Went with friends for my husband's birthday. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in. We had a cozy corner table on the second floor. Meals ordered were the stuffed pork chop, chicken Parmesan, stuffed salmon and chicken saltimbocca- we would highly recommend any of these dishes. The mashed potatoes tasted homemade and the string beans were perfectly cooked. Everything was very flavorful. The only item that I was not wowed over by was the salad that came with our meal, but only because I'm not a fan of iceberg (would have loved some mixed greens thrown in with it). My husband was offered dessert "on the house" for his birthday which we thought was a very nice gesture. He ordered the coconut cake and I ordered the cherry crumb pie- both were amazing. We live over an hour away from Cork, but we would definately be going back again when in the area. Highly recommend. Great job by the staff at Cork! :)

I was expecting a great meal from Cork..... My expectations really got the best of me! I ordered the special; NY Strip Steak (med rare) scampi style with scallops. First of all, I blame myself. A steak covered in a sauce is bound to be a horrible cut, and it was. In addition, the meal came with a side of mashed. I'm pretty sure they were fake or some kind of pre-made tader... WTF. Any establishment that can't prep mashed should be embarrassed. Don't let me forget the best part... The frozen scallops which were the size of a subway token tasted the part. I suggest whom ever is managing Cork better step up their game in food quality... Servers were fine but added tip with only a party of six...... Drink was just ok!

Cork is one of the great little secrets of Wilkes-Barre. You kind of want to keep it to yourself but you want to tell the world too. Cork is one of our favorite places to dine in Wilkes-Barre. It's real food, none of that pre-packaged crap microwaved in masses at those horrid chains near the mall. The atmosphere is pretty casual and you can either sit at the bar area or dine upstairs in a more formal, quiet area.Or, our favorite in the nice weather is to be seated outside on the patio. Cork is located in what used to be a house, so it's very quaint and unassuming. We have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered here. Steak to chops to pasta to burgers. The meatballs are one of our favorites! They have a nice beer selection and the mixed drinks are wonderful. They have a nice wine selection but we are not wine drinkers so I've never tried any. The staff is very friendly and the service is exceptional. Our last visit I had the stuffed pork chops and they were out of this world! Everything is made fresh and the prices are very reasonable. I subscribe to their FB page and every day the specials make me drool!

Great Atmosphere and Delicious Food Just had a great meal here, from drinks to dessert, really enjoyed. The edamame dumplings are the best!

I stumbled upon this hidden gem over the Summer when I attended a happy hour fundraiser there. Our group filled the table with appetizers and each one was as delicious as the next. The Cosmos were DElicious!!! I've been back a few times since and the experience is consistently great. Next to the delicious food and outstanding cocktails, the thing I like best about Cork is the owner Ruth. I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth and her husband Bill. Aside of being just really nice people, they are very generous in giving back to the community. It was a fundraiser that led me to Cork and I've subsequently found out that in addition to supporting local animal causes, Cork donated dinners to area flood victims, and most recently to veterans. I think that's commendable! Cork has a fenced in patio area where well behaved dogs are welcome in the nice weather. Cocktails and puppies. Does it get any better than that? If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price, you won't be disappointed at Cork.

Let's take a trip back in time to a year and a half ago. It's 9 PM on a cold Friday night. My wife and I, bleary-eyed from a 6 hour drive from Pittsburgh to the venerable house in Moosic whence I sprung so many years ago, are looking for some place, any place, with some decent food and a martini or two prior to reaching my mom's house. The GPS says "Cork Bar, 1.8 miles". I say to myself, "cork... wine.... bar.....martinis... food" (see how my mind works?) I tell it to route us there. It's a modest place. Looks like someone's house from the outside. That's because it was, once upon a time. That's a pretty common thing in the old anthracite valley. We open the door to a really nice green wallpaper and what looks like an oak bar. Me: vodka martini, extra dry, three olives (one must eat while drinking). My wife: pomegranate martini. "Nice", she says. I sip. "Ahh. Nice". I begin talking to the other patrons at the bar. Friendly place. I order meatballs in marinara. Light and fluffy with a basil infused elixir or sauce "Excuse me, m'am", I say to the bartender, "Who makes the sauce?" The guy next to me says, "My Mother-in-law". I laugh. He's serious. He's the owners husband. Tells me the whole history of the place and about every ingredient in all their dishes. Makes me salivate. More drinks. More food. Great time! Fast forward to January of this year. My mom's and sister's birthday. Didn't know it would be her last. Dinner upstairs at the Cork. Even better than our first visit. The owner made the evening so special for us. Yummy, and good people. It's a BINGO!

Went here for the first time on Saturday night and I just have to review it. I heard about this place a few times but never actually knew where it was. From the street it looks like a standard corner dive bar in a neighborhood, but once you walk in, you will be pleasantly surprised! We made reservations but it wasn't too crowded, you probably can go in and get a seat without them. I peeked at the menu online before going even though i hate to, but my boyfriend and I tend to always wanna order the same things, so I wanted to have my choice ready before he could haha. Anyway, the atmosphere upstairs was wonderful; very warm and intimate and beautifully decorated. Since it was our first time, we wanted to try a few things so we both got mixed drinks (they have a great mixed drink menu, beer selection and wine list). Both of our drinks were great! For appetizers, I got the deep fried blue cheese stuffed olives which were very delicious. I haven't ever seen deep fried olives on a menu before and they were definitely delicious, I may even try to make my own some time. My boyfriend actually only had two of them because I didn't want to share. He got the french onion soup, which also was amazing! It had just the right amount of cheese, and the cheese was perfectly melted. It also wasn't too salty as I sometimes find in French Onion soups. We usually try french onion whenever we go to a new place and this one is his new favorite, for me, it comes in a close second (Eddie's Place FOS is still #1). We both got side salads with our meals, and had the house roasted red pepper dressing, they were good, nothing too special but I wasn't even in the mood for salad, just was excited for my dinner. For dinner, He got the Shrimp & Crab Bolognaise with homemade papperdale, which was fantastic ( also love that they make their own). I had the seafood manicotti, and I think I could eat that for the rest of my life and be okay. It was quite a surprise for me as you'd hear manicotti and expect ricotta cheese, but this one came with a creamy, french cheese called boursin (i never had before) and it was just perfect with the crab, scallops and shrimp wrapped inside homemade crepes and covered with the most delicious, rich, buttery lobster cream sauce I have ever had. It was perfection. We were sad, but we had no room for dessert after the delicious meal. The waitress was also very friendly and helpful. I have 0 bad things to say about this place. We ended up spending a decent amount of money here, but we had 2 mixed drinks each plus the appetizers and entrees, however, I think its possible to go here and not spend an arm and a leg if you so choose. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone, for a special occasion or just to get away from the mall area chains and try something new ! Probably one of the best Wilkes Barre dining experiences I have had.

Last visit: Dec '09 Food / Service / Atmosphere: 4.5 / 4.5 / 5 Cork is an absolute gem. On vacation in the Poconos, we made reservations here on New Year's Eve after digging through countless pamphlets that were provided to us by the front desk of our hotel. We drove into what was a very quaint, residential area and thought our GPS screwed us over again (darn you!), but alas, there stood Cork on the corner of the block, looking nothing like a restaurant. We sighed a big sigh and, with our shoulders hunched, we trooped forward. But shit, were our doubts unwarranted. The hostess greeted us very warmly and we could see quite a few people celebrating New Year's Eve at the bar. The hostess took us upstairs and through a narrow hallway to our tables. It was nothing I've ever seen before. Yes, it was a home. The carpeting, the wallpaper; you could vaguely tell it was lived in at some point in history. But now stands a beautiful restaurant. There are a few rooms for seating and a handful of tables in each room. The decor is elegant yet homey. We couldn't help but gape at how lovely it was inside just another house on Madison street. Service was fantastic. We ordered the lobster bisque as an appetizer (to DIE for). Then for our entrees: chicken rollantini (good) and the surf & turf (amazing). For dessert we had the creme brule which was so delicious, we had to order another to go. I cannot sing this restaurant's praises enough. As I said before, this place is an absolute gem.

Went here a few months back for a night out and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was inviting and quiet, the food was good, and the service was great. I had salmon that was stuffed with spinach and cheese, my friend had a pasta dish that he would have had 5 of if he could have finished them A very nice place for a first date.

When I saw one table occupied on a Saturday night... And one person sitting at the bar... I thought to myself... this might have been a bad choice. Everything was Fantastic. Good Food, Excellent Service. Definitely worth the drive from the main strip.

Great service great food great staff five star all-around that is not a place to bring really young kids unless you're able to control them as it is a quiet place to go for a great dinner. This is actually my six-year-old and 16-year-old daughter's favorite restaurant as they get to eat more upscale food and as regulars the staff caters to my daughters which makes them both feel so special it is just that type of a restaurant .Summertime is great when they open the patio. Let's not forget about Tuesday night wine classes a great way to learn about different wines and try things you have never tried before.

Love this restaurant! Great people and great service. The first time I came it was because of the outdoor patio, it is even dog friendly, though we haven't chances bringing our Tasmanian devils! The food is great, seafood, steaks, and Italian items. Plus great apps and drinks! Every two weeks they have a wine class where they ofer wine and food pairings with conversation. Lots of fun! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Cork was good, but overall I wasn't super impressed. The interior is very pretty, and the staff is very friendly. The menu is just right, and the variety of options, in particular is exactly what I like to see in a high end restaurant. I did not try a cocktail. I opted for the crab stuffed salmon. It was tasty, but overall it was lacking in flavor. I found the dessert options to be uninventive and forgettable as well. I've tasted more complex dishes at some chain restaurants, and for these prices, I definitely expect more. For a fine dining experience, take your money and your date to the Manhattan Bistro or Fire & Ice. My main reasons for choosing this place were that I wanted to bring my mother somewhere upscale for Mother's Day, and I wanted to make sure there were gluten free options. For the GF options on the menu and the staff's friendliness, I'd go with a 5. For the quality of the food, I can't, in good conscience, go higher than a 3. If an opportunity arises, and someone else is buying, I'd try it again, but I would never pick this place again.

We went there last night for my birthday and it was such a great choice. The patio seating was perfect - informal, yet personal. We couldn't decide on appetizers, so we ordered two! The spinach artichoke dip was creamy, but the real star was the Italian spring rolls. Definitely a must have when you go! For the main course I got spaghetti (boring, I know) but it was really tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Alaskan salmon with the dijon sauce and it was melt in your mouth perfection. And I don't even really like salmon. But this was so good. We ended up getting a dessert on the house for my birthday, which was a nice surprise! It was peach/blueberry pie and it was phenomenal. Definitely a hidden gem of WB and worth the extra 5 minute drive from downtown!
