I had the four cheese ravioli and enjoyed myself. I wish the portion was larger. Otherwise, I was satisfied. I also sampled the BBQ pork sandwich. I found that to be delicious. The price is reasonable for this place and the location is close to me. The restaurant itself was pretty nice. Well lit. I say that because a lot places you go to are just incredibly dark.

This is a great place with a good drink selection, really yummy food and friendly service. Try the late night breakfast on Wednesday. My fav is the chocolate chip and bacon pancakes. I also highly recommend their hounder burger. This is one of my local joints that I enjoy.

Had the roast beef sandwich with au jus on the side. The meat was succulent with every bite on a lightly toasted roll. The dinner plate was topped off with overflowing pile of crispy french fries as ordered.

Came here on a whim after just moving here 6 weeks ago. Absolutely loved it! The service was stellar. The food was good (nothing to write home about), but overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who anyone looking for a casual meal and a good time. I look forward to returning for more happy hour specials and even the occasional live music show.

Great happy hour deals! They also have a decent beer selection, including gluten free beer. Dinner has always been delicious. Service is generally good- our servers/bartenders have always been courteous, quick on the refills, and really nice. My favorites are the mussels, Parmesan fries, crab cake sandwich, and shrimp Caesar salad. The desserts are also always fantastic- freshly made on site and delicious.

Maybe we picked the wrong items on the menu but the food was below average. We had the nachos, which appeared to have the store bought guacomole slathered all over and some sort of cheese wiz spread on top. Nothing seemed fresh. $8 for a mixed green salad which had a few cut up cherry tomatoes and some cucumbers. We were there on a Monday night and had the taco special but nothing spectacular there. Only one waitress seemed to be scheduled for the entire restaurant. Again, maybe we picked the wrong items but it wasn't worth the $30 some dollars we paid for our bill.

I hate to write this BUT ... My husband had started his appetizer ,I was waiting for our meal to arrive. We were sipping on gin and tonics. The dining area is small. 4 tables and a banquette. There was a family with a 5 yr old boy who was screaming at the top of his lungs. His father took him out eventually and then brought him back where he resumed his screaming and flailing about. The establishment ignored what was going on. We got up and left. AND We came back today with our 8 yr old twins for lunch. When I mentioned to the waitress what happened two days ago she said that's how it is and there's nothing they could do. I beg to differ, the restaurant should have offered the boy something to eat. Gone up to them to see if they could help. If nothing worked they should have asked them to calm the boy outside. This was not an infant or young child either Not acceptable for other diners. The owners are young people trying hard to make a living. I understand. But we will never go back there. And maybe that's ok for them.

Went today for a Saturday lunch. It's very nice and clean inside, striking a good balance between gastropub and family friendly. (Went with my wife, toddler, and one-year-old.) Food was very good, I got a gluten free burger which tasted great. Only downside was the burger patty kept crumbling, but it tasted so good it didn't matter too much. Our server was great. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're gluten free.

I went for what I hoped would would be an exceptional meal, but I was disappointed. I had the basil chicken penne pasta. It was passable, but overpriced and the service was slow becaused they were stretched too thin. I found the menu to be limited in selection and all items overpriced when you xompare what the their place had to offer. But the biggest disappointment was the dessert I and my partner both ordered, chocolate moose. It wasn't nearly bad, it was discustingly horrible. The only reason they would serve something so awful is greed. For $5 apeice, any resturaunt can make a decent profit on a well made dessert, that's why I cite greed. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the main entrées were passable, but not great. We will not return.

I have driven by this place hundreds of times and decided to have lunch with a friend there this week. We walked in shortly after they opened and it was clean, bright, and inviting. The sign at the entry asked us to seat ourselves and we did with some help of the very helpful waitress. We each ordered burgers, ice teas, and fries. The burger selection is creative and plenty. About a dozen choices. I ordered my burger rare and my buddy ordered his med and both arrived as ordered. I would change mine to med rare since they actually did being my burger out rare when most places don't. It was very good it just fell apart in my hands. Not their fault, I ordered it rare. Noise level? There were about a 2 dozen people in the place and we could still have a good talk about life without shouting. I would go again.

They have many delicious gluten free items on the menu. Their gluten free bun for the hamburger is the best I have ever had. The burgers are very tasty as are the fries. They have a gluten free chocolate mousse cake that is a real melt in your mouth treat! They should be listed on the gluten free friendly restaurants in this area so other gluten free eating people can find it!

Literally the best food within a 20 mile radius. Everything here is made on-site. From the French fries to the hot sauce, it's all home-made. Stop searching and go here for dinner. Plenty of parking. Expertly crafted food. Amazing beer selection. Friendly staff. Impeccable service. Unbeatable prices. Just eat here already.

Good food and beer menu. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Nothing special but a solid menu and food was as expected. Looks like they have live music on Friday night but we were leaving prior to that starting. I think I'd prefer going here on a weekend night sitting at the bar.

Half price burger night cannot be beat! The sweet potato fries are the best I've had ever! And the veggie burger is definitely homemade and delicious! Servers are always gracious and helpful. We love our neighborhood restaurant.

I came here to give it a try, after driving by so many times and being there for other events, and was pleasantly surprised. The fried Mozzarella was above average, the Caesar salad was delicious (they put bacon in it) and my entree was outstanding. I had the chicken in a redwine sauce. The smashed potatoes served with it were creamy and delicious, perhaps the best potatoes I've ever had including all preparations. I tried the four-cheese ravioli as well. Very good. The only drawback to this place is that there seems to be a lot going on. They are always advertising some bar game like Quizzo, etc. When we were there, there was some type of shower or club meeting going on with many loud middle-aged women. The bar wasn't loud, but it was a Thursday. I loved the food but probably wouldn't go during happy hour or on weekends.

First, the place is a loud bar with a restaurant attached. We made reservations, and even confirmed the next day but the hostess was helpless to find our names...20 minute wait ensued. Got seated by our helpful and gracious server but waited and waited for our first drink. By the time we got our calamari appetizer, it was warm-to-cool and not nearly as large as described. I ordered the short-ribs special and the lady chose the gnocchi. My entree was fatty (not slow cooked, as required) and hers was absolute mush. Neither of us cleared our plate and will never be back.

My parents friends decided to take them out the very week I was home, so I was dragged along with. It was a dreary Thursday night and the restaurant was about half full. Checking out the menu, I was surprised that they had so many sandwiches and burgers options. Since the other couple had been before, they suggested a burger and fries. I selected the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, my father had the turkey club, and my mother split the crab cake and hanger steak sandwich. Upon seeing the different items, I was surprised that the fries all looked to be in different states of cooked. Mine were withered and dark, where another plate had bright orange sweet potato fries. Obviously they were from different batches, but why don't they cook them all evenly? My burger was quite underwhelming, and the one large piece of bacon was chewy. My father felt the same way about the bacon on his club. My mother mentioned that the steak sandwich was boring and dry, not sure how she felt about the crab cake. I wouldn't return to Redhound. The service was good and the ambiance was pleasant but the food was quite disappointing.

I gave this place a try with my mom tonight for dinner. It was so bad that I had to write this review ASAP! I ordered the roast beef sandwich and my mom had the chicken caprese sandwich. Both of them had ZERO flavor! Apparently the cook doesn't know how to season meat. We both barely ate our sandwiches and of course didn't want to take leftovers home. I didn't even want to feed that to my dog! How is this place even open..?? Avoid it and go elsewhere, it is terrible.

Frodo was on a quest to destroy the ring, Dorothy was on a quest to find her way back home and I am on a quest to seek out the world's greatest veggie burger. It's a grueling struggle - a girl's got to munch on a whole lot of french fries (only jerks get salad with their burgers), drink a lot of Diet Coke and eat veritable mountains of homemade veggie burgers - but someone's got to do it and I am more than up to the challenge. As I've mentioned before, Philly is a city with some fantastic burgers but once you get to the outlying suburbs, things get a little grim. With a few notable exceptions, the 'burbs are the culinary hinterlands where processed food reigns supreme and a girl's best chance for a veggie burger is an overpriced, grayish soy patty which more closely resembles a sponge post-Jersey Turnpike than actual food fit for consumption. However, suburbanites everywhere can rejoice now that the Red Hound Grille has opened up in Paoli. Not only does this place feature a wide variety of locally-sourced, organic food, but it has a great vegetarian selection, a full bar, reasonable prices and plenty of parking. See what I mean about suburban joy? We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer for the table and they were great -- creamy, salty, chewy blobs of real cheese coated in a crunchy batter and served with a spicy marinara sauce that, shockingly enough, actually tastes like tomatoes. A great start to the meal and one that left me wondering how I can turn this morish appetizer into a sandwich (sesame seed roll, arugula, pesto and fresh tomatoes?) For my main, I ordered the house-made veggie burger. It comes with mango ketchup, but I spied chipotle mayo on the menu and called in a substitution. Unlike a lot of processed condiments which are more sweet than anything else, this was lip-tinglingly spicy, unctuous and had a taste redolent of smoked jalapenos. I loved it and can't wait to try the Red Hound's take on mango ketchup on my next visit. As for the burger itself? In a word, hearty. The patty (composed primarily of lentils, brown rice, peas, carrots, mushrooms and onions) is a beast with a spicy Indian/Middle Eastern flair. Word of warning, the burger will fall apart while you eat it. But I think that's to be expected for a homemade patty made with real ingredients. The sandwich comes with the usual accouterments - lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles with a side of fries. The fries are made fresh -- real skin-on potatoes that reminded me of both Mom's home cooking and the deliciousness that is Five Guys fries. I couldn't inhale these suckers fast enough and they tasted even better when dipped in chipotle ketchup. Finally, the bun proves that every element of the dish was well-thought out. The bun's usually an after-thought -- a cheap and easy conveyance vehicle for the goodies within, but at the Red Hound -- the brioche bun is part of the dish and a damn tasty one at that. For dessert, we split a blackberry creme brulee. I expected a wibbly pudding in Grimace purple, but the dish came out, it was closer to a pale shade of lavender. Why? Because it's made with real fruit and real fruit isn't the same color as a terrifying McDonalds Muppet! We got the chance to meet one of the establishment's chefs and I'm thinking this guy needs to have a web-series where he opines about food and the Philly culinary scene. Shane is a straight-talking, no bullshit Irishman with a vocal and unapologetic passion for food. And best of all, the guy is truthful. He says the refuses to call the Red Hound a farm-to-table joint because you can't really do farm-to-table in Pennsylvania. Unless you're dealing solely in root vegetables, the frigid PA winters will quickly put the kibosh on your menu. The only frozen item on his menu is chicken fingers, he digs spicy food and thinks if you put it on a plate, you should be able to eat it. These are all philosophies I can get down with and I appreciate the man's honesty as much as I appreciated the great food. I can see this place becoming a neighborhood staple -- good food, cold beer and Phillies games on the flat-screen. What more could a Philly suburbanite ask for?

Redhound is located on Paoli Pike, just off of Route 30 (Lancaster Ave) near the Paoli train station. Formerly, the Big Easy, this is a new restaurant still trying to work out their kinks. We (a group of seven) visited on a Thursday at noon and were the first patrons present. In fact, as we pulled up I began to wonder if we'd be cooking our own food as there wasn't a soul in the parking lot. We ordered 3 crab cake burgers, one veggie something or other, 2 BLTs, and one carved turkey sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised how good my crab cake sandwich was. A large patty, well seasoned, tender, with very little filler. I caught some roasted peppers flecked thoughout but nothing more. Served on a roll alongside hand cut fries and chipotle mayo, I had no complaints on the food. It was very filling...I couldn't finish all of it as much as I tried, $10 too. My tablemates were all equally pleased with the exception of the sweet potato fries which they found too crisp and dry. This was however a slow meal. We waited 40 minutes easily for our simple orders and we were the only customers. I'd love to see them work their kinks out and stick around. Great option for those in the area.

Had a meal here on Sunday for Fathers Day. I had the Vegetable Wrap, and there was the Seafood Risotto and the Braised Short Ribs also at the table. Fairly decent meal but nothing spectacular. More of a bar. Place was fairly empty except for about 10 loud people sitting at the bar drinking beer. Not good enough for me to return.

The bar drinks were fine - no complaints. That counts for the one star. The food however was downright awful. The appetizer spring rolls were burned to the point of smelling before they got to our table.Nothing like the smell of burnt bread to start the meal. Then came the main course, I had the the pork chop and it was dry, tough and tasteless with a sugary apple chutney on top. The pasta side dish was crispy on top and over cooked mush in the middle. It was so bad I suggested the owner take the pork chop off the menu. My friends got the steak/salad meal and neither of them could finish the food either. All of us sent our food back less than half eaten. It was just terrible all the way around.

This is a solid place to grab a beer in a pinch. For me, its around the corner from my house and many times location wins out over having to hop behind the wheel. I've had the burger which I would give 3 stars. Redhound falls down on the fact that on weekends, there is usually some loud music drowning out conversation and, in my opinion, making for some better options. I have to agree with a previous review by Mike W in that I also keep hoping this place will become more, but the crowd of regulars may prohibit that from happening.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed dinner last Friday on a busy night at the Redhound Grille! We know Shane Magee from his former venue, where he threw a great wedding and reception for our daughter in October, 2009. Since we loved his food, we were excited to finally try his new restaurant, since it's over a 30 minute drive from where we live. We were NOT disappointed! The wait staff was very pleasant and efficient. The atmosphere was boisterous in the bar area, as Happy Hour was waning, but we enjoyed that energy and found it quiet where we were seated just off that area. We both had a beer from the draft list while looking over the menu, which is quite extensive. We usually stick to sandwiches and burgers at places like this, but since we're familiar with Shane's talent, we ordered from the entrees. I loved the braised lamb shank with cassoulet and broccoli rabe, and my husband was equally fond of the trout special. We shared the lager mussels to start, which were yummy, and passed on dessert after cleaning our plates of the large portions. I did, however, treat myself to an Irish coffee :) If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to pay more attention to water refills and to make sure the daily specials are announced when the menus are presented. We will definitely be back, and we only wish we lived closer. If we did, we would be here once a week!

We went here on Friday night, 6/3, and I believe they opened for business that Wednesday. The parking lot was full at about 7:15 p.m., so we figured there was a good crowd inside. We were told the wait for 2 people was at least a half an hour, so we waited at the bar. The bar was full - presumably from residual happy hour crowd. A draft bear and a club soda cost almost $10 - kind of surprised at that price. The bar is comfortable, bright and inviting. The kind of place you'd want to hang out at. We got the feeling from the bar that we were really going to like this place. We had high hopes for the dinner portion. While we were waiting, we were offered two tables so we didn't have to wait for long. However, both times the offer came with "but, no one else wanted them, so..." Needless to say, we passed on both offers. After about 45 minutes we were seated in the dining room. Shockingly, it was mostly empty. We can only assume that they either a) didn't have enough wait staff or b) wouldn't seat 2 people at a 4-person table. I'm inclined to believe "b" to be true, as it appeared as though there were plenty of waitstaff around. The dining room is very cramped. The tables are too close together, and the dining area has none of the warmth and charm that the bar has. The menu is nothing spectacular, and mostly filled with sandwiches. Very few entrees. Our waitress didn't offer us any specials. We decided to go with a short rib sandwich for him, and a hangar steak sandwich for me. We ordered the fried mozzarella for an appetizer. We waited, and waited, and waited for our appetizer. During the wait we were forced to hear the conversation of the other couple next to us (the table were inches apart). Then, they were served fried mozzarella - and we were left to wonder where in the world ours was (we ordered about 10 minutes prior to them). So I visited the ladies' room - where, to my surprise, there was no cold water. Washing my hands was an exercise in avoiding third-degree burns. Even though there was a sign apologizing for the lack of cold water, that didn't really help. I was hoping that the appetizer would be there when I got back to the table (it had been about 40 minutes since we ordered), but it was not. Five minutes later, our appetizer was delivered, along with our entrees. We also received an apology - something about how our table was normally a table of four, but they separated it for us and the couple next to us, so their ordering system isn't set up for that - I tuned out after that. I was really hungry and didn't care about their kitchen problems. She said she would comp our appetizer. Both of our sandwiches were fine, but not spectacular. The home-made fries are really good. (The fried mozzarella was a disappointment - so was the tomato sauce, which actually resembled tomato water). Incidentally, the couple next to us sent back their appetizer and one of the entrees, and refused to pay for either (told you we were sitting close to them). Our appetizer, in the long run, wasn't comped - but my bf's beers (there were 2) were. I guess they cost more than the appetizer, so that was nice. All in all - there are definitely some things to be worked out here all around. Figure out how to seat your guests comfortably, tweak your menu, work on serving times and you might have something. For now, though - we're not in any hurry to return.

I used to go to this restaurant location when it was the Speak Easy and thought I'd give the Redhound a try. What an awful mistake! My husband and I were seated fairly quickly and sat and waited for over 30minutes until the manager who happened to seat us noticed after passing us several times that we still hadn't ordered nor received any drinks. Keep in mind the restaurant was about 60-70% full on a Saturday night. At that point we were just entirely ticked off and figured they would comp us for a free soda or an appetizer. ...nope! Long story short our mussel dish tasted so very stale, the mac and cheese lobster appetizer tasted like it came out of a box and they threw a 1/2 teaspoon size lobster in...and the entrees were just mediocre burgers with horribly stale over cooked, cold and limp french fries. Never again!!!!

How this place made it onto the Restaurant Week list I have no idea. It's not very clean or nicely decorated and the food leaves much to be desired. Several of us got sick last time we ate here--my fish smelled like ammonia so I sent it back. My two friends were not so perceptive--or lucky--and both got sick. Fried appetizer was overdone. The only thing tasty was the dessert, which was basically a glorified ice cream sandwich. Not impressed, won't come back, and PLEASE don't put them on the Restaurant Week lineup again. Not a way to showcase Main Line's finest. Blech.

I live nearby and have tried the Redhound a few times since it opened. I keep hoping it will become what it has the potential to be. It has a good menu with some twists and the food has generally been good. The unfortunate part about the place is the crowd. Each time I have been here there seems to be a group of regulars at the bar who do their best to make people feel unwelcome. Also the bartenders seem to cater to this crowd and ignore others who walk in and want to grab a beer and some food while watching a game. I think this could be a good place but they seem to want to be a shot & beer joint. The special in the bar this weekend was PBR and 1/2 price shots. There is a lot of local competition GAP, PIG, TJ's to name a few and nobody at the Redhound seems to want to be in charge and make it a great experience.

This place would be fine if they didn't have some ridiculous activity almost every night. Tonite is Bingo which is super annoying when you just want to come in to have a meal and a couple of beers. The food is just fine and the service good but I can sure do without 'O-35' and disco music blaring!

Just went there this evening and was pretty disappointed. Had seafood risotto that really was bland and didn't have a lot of flavor. For $20 dollars I would have expected more and also a side salad as this was my entree. Nada. My wife had a caesar salad that was had potato bits dressed as croutons and bacon pieces in it. Huh? Interesting - no not really nor the $10 dollar price tag. We had mussels as an app as well but nothing to write home about (The Whip Tavern has the best btw). The service was slow and dinner seemed to take forever. I ordered a caesar salad because I was still hungry after the risotto and it took almost 20 mins and finally arrived when we were ready to leave. I don't know about you but for $80 dollars I just would have expected more. FYI - I was in the restaurant business for 15 years so I am a bit more understanding when service is slow but overpriced is overpriced and bland food is something I can eat at home.

This was are first time for us at the Redhound Grille.The portions were generous and the quality of the short ribs of beef,along with my wife's lamb shank made this dinning experience a positive one.Our waitress , Meagen was very friendly and attentive.The wine list is reasonably price(Pretty much every bottle less than $40).With a number of flat screen TVs it's also a good place to take in a game.

A good local restaurant. The service was pretty good for a new place and our food was very good. Seafood risotto was flavorful and the fish tasted fresh. The chicken/pasta was seasoned well and a large portion. Certainly worth a try and a nice addition to the area.
