No. Just No. Came here for Dining Under the Stars because we knew they'd have a table (and here's why). Food is Meh and service is confused and chaotic. Forgot to write down our order on a check thus we never got a check and had to TELL them what we got. Then it took a while to actually pay. Meanwhile people are waiting for our (now coveted outdoor) table. Pad Thai (Chicken) was good - yes, it was. Tom Kha was average. Bathroom is gross. They need to step up their game or they won;t be around many more years.

Ditto on all the reviews at 3-star or below for the past three months. Dined here November 2013 and the food barely hit a mediocre. Service in the past was always nice - I've had lunch here- but rather unattentive tonight. Food barely hit a flavor scale. Everything tasted, smelled and looked like it was microwaved. When my curry noodles were served with limp and tasteless frozen green beans I gave up. Did not finish/eat my meal and my server didn't care. The tofu was watery and blah. Lots of reviews suggest other Thai in the area ,,, try them first.

Great Thai food at reasonable prices. It's a byob so really affordable. My husband had the soft shell crabs and loved them! Keep up the good work!

This was a pretty good place to eat! There was more of a Thai feel with the food than French but it was pretty good regaurdless. It was nice that it was a BYOB as well. The service was a bit slow but the place was packed. It would be a good place to eat when youre looking for something nice but out of the norm and a good meal.

Nothing French about this place, as others have said, but the Thai is excellent, esp. for the area. We always get the drunken noodles -- it's not spicy unless you ask for extra spice. The first time I did this, it was super spicy to perfection. The 2nd time, not nearly as spicy, whic for me equals not nearly as delicious. The curry puff-type app is pretty delish, and the Thai iced teas are large and sweet -- good way to combat the spice. Good option for Thai food in the area.

I would give La Na 3.5 stars. Went with a party of 5 on a Saturday Night. Not very crowded at all as there was maybe 3-4 other tables in the establishment. I have been waiting to try this place and the fact that it is a BYOB enticed me even more. I like some spice to my food so I was even more intrigued. Table split Fortune Bags, Chicken Sa-tay, Coconut Shrimp. All the apps were very good and big enough to share. We had one other App but I forget what it was. I went with the Drunken Noodles with Chicken with a spice number of 2. When I say 2 i mean they brought the heat. The chicken was tender and the noodles were HOT! Maybe next time for that dish I would drop down to a #1 on the heat index. I ate all the chicken but it did not look like i even put a dent on my dish, the heat just overpowered me and my fellow table mate who also ordered the same thing. The rest of the table went with the Love & Passion, The Seafood Lover and another Chicken Dish. Everyone was very happy with their meal. 5 of us our bill came to about $130 with out tip. I would definitely go back but next time to try the Evil Jungle Princess. I will update my review after my second visit. The waitress was very accommodating and kept our water glasses full to help take off some of the heat. Thanks La Na I will be back!

Friends took us here on a Monday, when they offer tasting menus. I got the Chang Mai menu. Soup was tasty, as was salad. The eggplant dish was tasteless and the other chicken dish had too much salt. The creme brulee included also had no taste to the custard. My friend who doesn't like c.b. was given a slice of barely defrosted, also tasteless cheesecake. I guess the dessert was the French influence!

I came here for the first time last Sunday night for dinner with a few of my friends. I noticed in other reviews that there was never a crowd here. That was very true for us as well. There were only two other tables the entire night. The service was very friendly and even refrigerated the beer we had brought with us. Yes this is a BYOB. We started with the volcano shrimp and the appetizer sampler. The shrimp were good but very tiny. The sampler had some interesting things on it, such as the fortune bags. The "bag" is edible. Very tasty! I had the chicken Thai curry which had just the right level of spice. If anything, it could have been a little hotter. My friend had the Masaman curry, which was sweeter. I have to say I preferred his. The menu has quite a few different options, so I think I will definitely come back. Not the best food I have had on State street, but also not the worst.

Was excited to try this place...have had many good meals on State St and Had good things about it - came here for Dining Under the Stars. When we got there, had to look for someone so we could sit down. We had our heart set on a couple of appetizers, one being on their specials list - they had neither, but only told us about it after we started ordering. Once the food came, the appetizers were actually good. The entree - overpriced and not enough. Got the seafood special - it was around 20 bucks - it had 5 pieces of squid, 3 scallops, 4 very over cooked shrimp. Still hungry afterwards. Then, the waitress comes over and asks "are u done yet?" in a very rude manner. She was very unapologetic. Not coming back here - I know of plenty of other places to go to get better food - I'll drive the extra 5-10 miles.

This area reminds me of 4th street at IU - Bloomington which all the ethnic restaurants. La Na was dimly lit, practically empty, and smelled like an antique store so questional at first. We were deciding between sushi (which I LOOVE) and thai which in hindsight I am glad we came here! BYO - We brought 2 bottles of wine which they opened and brought out glasses right away. Service was friendly. 3 of us shared: Thai Basil Fried Rice, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Green Chicken Curry. My friend had made a bold statement prior to the food coming out that this was the best pad thai she had ever had. I have to agree even with her elevating my expectations that it was definitely one of the best pad thai's I have ever had. Although the noodles looked soggy they were far from it - warm, chewy, salty/sweet/sour all at the same time. We could not decide which was our favorite dish though because they were all wonderfully fresh and flavorful. I love Tom Yum Soup but have been disappointed so many times so decided to ask if they used fresh lime juice, lemon grass, etc. After taking a minute to process my question she responded with a confident "of course" which was super reassuring. The soup was so tasty and definitely fresh. Now only if I could get this delivered to Chicago on a weekly basis by the barrel...wahh

I went here with my family after a long day of shopping (party of four). The menu consists of traditional Thai dishes as well as French dishes. There are a good number of choices on the menu. I ordered the Tutti Fruity duck (after they informed me they were out of my first choice - something seafood, forget what it was honestly). The service was pretty slow. It wasn't that crowded in there but it took a long time for them to take our order and for our food to finally come out. Once it did come, it was worth the wait. My duck was cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The raspberry sauce was not too sweet, which was a concern when ordering. My dish came with broccoli and carrots and rice, which were all cooked nicely. The portions were good, I ate everything minus a little rice and did not feel too stuffed. I would definitely consider coming back.

I had never heard of this little place until a friend suggested we go for lunch. It's small and unassuming, but what a treasure on State Street! It's BYOB, so we brought a nice bottle of spicy red to split. We both got the lunch special, standard in many Asian restaurants, but these guys kicked it up a notch. Instead of just an app, entree and dessert, you also got a soup on top of that! Chicken curry is fabulous - ask for extra veggies to really up the ante. Rice is nice and sticky. And the soups were just perfect! Service was quick and our waitress was really sweet and polite. Loved the interior of La Na, too. French influence on top of Thai style. A perfect lunch spot. If you're in the area, it's not to be missed!

For my granddaughter's 19th birthday, I took her for dinner at La Na Thai French Cuisine. We both loved everything we ordered: Tulip Dumpling, Pad Thai, and mango with sticky rice. The quality of food, the excellent service, and lovely ambiance all added up to a most enjoyable experience. We agreed that we want to return again soon.

Loved this place. For the price (lunch combos are $8.95 for soup, appetizer, and entree!), you can't get better. The only bummer was the soup. If you are vegetarian/vegan make certain you ask for veggie broth. I wasn't on my game and forgot to specify, so we went without soup (I could smell that it was chicken). Even so, we were very satisfied.

Overpriced and overrated. WHERE IS THE FRENCH FUSION part of this Thai "fusion" restaurant?! For 4 people the bill was close to $100 and it tasted like it should have been worth $5. We will not be back

Ate a sumptuous dinner here with another couple. Since it is BYOB (score!) we brought wine and beer. We ordered Crispy Roll app, Masaman Curry, Thai Green Curry, Pad Thai, Evil Jungle Princess (the latter on the recommendation of the waitress), and didn't regret it. Having been to Thailand, I can say that the quality, spices and spiciness, and the taste of the entrees was very close to authentic. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We didn't have any trouble getting a table and appreciated the decor, pace of service, and great location smack in the center of Media.

Spent $36.00 here for three meals and flushed them all down the garbage disposal! Nuff said? Not sure where the massive disconnect is but I must say in my life, there are few meals that I just completely threw out after a few bites. The fact is I only took a few bites because I just couldn't believe the bizarre and tasteless flavors my taste buds were witnessing. -I had the Massamen Curry w/ Chicken. BIZARRE attempt at spice, weird in the flavor combo category, runny and flavorless and just plain BAD! Strike One! - Had the Ravioli Soup (some combo of ground up shrimp, chicken and who knows what else in a dumpling) in some quasi sour clear broth or was it dirty dish water? Strike Two!! - My wife had a coconut milk soup. There was not a hint of coconut in this soup. It basically tasted like they poured 2% milk into a pot and heated it. And not one bit of spice or flavor. Strike Three!!! After 24 years in San Francisco, and just getting back from 6 weeks in Thailand and Vietnam, its not like I've never had decent Thai food. If fact in my experience there is good and great Thai food. Hard to make anything with the flavor palate of Thai cooking bad. But I have to hand it to La Na Thai. They have accomplished this rare feat in spades!

I keep expecting more from this cozy and inviting Thai restaurant on Media's main drag. At it's best, La Na delivers food that is inconsistent in presentation and taste; at its worst, you may need to send the food back to be heated more thoroughly. The staff are attentive and friendly, their prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and romantic. We haven't completely written them off, but they're not our first or second choice for Thai around Media.

If I really want Pad Thai and my car and my fridge are both not working, I guess would come here, but I have to say I'm not at all impressed with the food here. I hate to say bad things about this place because I want so much for it to be good, but I just feel like they are only making an half-assed attempt. I would recommend Heng's Thai in Springfield or Viman's in Folsom if you can handle a couple more minutes of driving. No complaints about the service from my one visit. In fact I felt the other customers there were very rude and difficult. I could tell they were going to make a lot of fuss even before they complained and it kind of ruined the experience for the rest of us too. However, I feel like the restaurant is in part responsible for attracting only the grumpy old ladies clientele. If only the food was better, then more reasonable customers would come back.

Popped in to La Na for a last minute dinner with the bf. We had the golden bags, the lemon grass soup and the pad thai and red curry beef. We love to share, that way we get to try everything, and everything we got was delicious! I would say Nooddi Thai has some competition. Also, the owner/waiter was really nice and attentive! Definitely would recommend for when you're craving Thai in Media.

The service is slow, but it is reasonably priced. The "French" part is a marketing scheme, it's really just your run-of-the-mill Thai....the service really wasn't good, I had to flag down servers as they walked by us.

Totally unimpressed with this place. Found it to be over-priced and tasteless. We had the calamari as an appetizer. The portion was small, very chewy and unseasoned. My husband had the snapper which he thought was dry. I had the crabcakes with some kind of noodles that looked like angel hair pasta. The noodles were boiled and had no seasoning and hence were tasteless. The crabcakes had a saffron ginger sauce that was mediocre. The crabcakes had a lot of filler. The waitress seemed hurried and stressed. I went to the ladies room and it seemed dated and dirty as did the restaurant. As another reader mentioned, I prefer Heng's Thai in Springfield for ambiance and quality. Won!t be back.

Let's see... We ordered the 1. Evil Jungle Princess $15 2. Drunken Noodle (shrimp) $15 3. Drunken Noodle (chicken) $14 4. Thai Basil $14 5. Thai Eggplant $14? 6. Fortune Bag $7 7. Bangkok Roll $5 The prices are all right... not the best bang for your buck, but the dishes are pretty good. Spice levels were on par, but the portions weren't as big as desired. This restaurant is semi-upscale. The price are a notch above most casual restaurants whose entrees are ~$10, but the dishes here aren't remarkable enough to justify that price increase. They're reliable, but not mind-blowing. If I ate a comparable dish at other lower-priced Thai restaurants, and a dish from La Na, I would not notice which dish belongs to which restaurant.

Had lunch there today prior to a business meeting. Service was good and very quick. I had the lunch special with coconut soup, dumplings and Phad Thai. Just the basics. Food was all decent and service was good. I have to say, the place absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. Have other folks noticed this? I might be more sensitive than most, but I could have sworn I was in a bar back in the 90s.

This place can be a 4 stars and a 2 stars depending on when you go. I'm rating THE SUNDAY BRUNCH. They have a great deal! 15 dollars for soup, appetizer, entree and dessert. And BYOB! Now you understand why I'm giving it 4 stars! If you go for the regular menu, the food still good but for the price you can find better and bigger portions in other Thai places (yes, I said Thai. There is nothing French about this place. If you push it, maybe the creme brulee). My favorites: -Chicken coconut soup -Thai dumplings -Golden rings -Masaman Curry Any fish I've ever had there was pretty good as well.
If I was basing my review on Food alone: I'd give it 5 starts since the food was delicious and its a BYOB, which I love. However...my rating is based on the overall experience of dinner. Here we go.... I was with a group of 6. We showed up at 7:50pm with reservations at 8pm. It was Dining Under the Stars, so we assumed they would be busy. They asked us to wait...no problem! We were seated around 8:20pm. Again, not a problem. However, after that it was really down hill. We waited maybe 30 minutes to place our order and at that point we received our water. Our food arrived at 10:15pm. Yes...that's right...2 hours after being seated! We smiled and said thank you, while our bellies growled in resentment. Our waitress was MIA most of the evening, and at multiple points a kind waiter would help refill our waters or cork our wine (we were getting our calories from wine). The owner or who I assumed to be the owner came by after we had gotten our food and said, "I know you had to wait, we didn't expect so many people...but isn't the food worth the wait!" We all smiled and said thank you but seriously...no "I apologize" or "I'm sorry about the wait" or "Here, have an appetizer on us"...I really would have settled for just the apology. They do dining under the stars every week so it was hard to believe they didn't expect it to be busy and the (presumed) owner seemed to show no sympathy that our food was being served 2 hours late. I felt really bad for the people who got seated after us! Oh and we never got our chilled bucket for our white wine (really the last of our concerns though)...I think I may be a bit hangry (hungry + angry) right now, so I must stop because thinking about our neglect that evening is just making me hangrier. The moral of this story: If you have time to spare, try it out.

Always enjoy the food here. Although I am not a skilled this food chef or eater, the food seems Albert authentic. Service is nice and friendly and like the location right in Stare Street. Prices are moderate. Plates are good portions and food is tasty. My wife does not like the plastic/rubber table clothes. I don't mind them and did not even notice them.

Very unique view and mix of flavored dishes. The style is fantastic and very fusion. Be careful as some of the dishes can neglect to mention important details (eg dancing snapper is fried). Servers were nice and made good suggestions but disappeared for long stretches even though it wasn't a full restaurant.

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants! They have an amazing lunch deal. Soup, Appetizer and entree all for under $10. I have tried many of the dished here and have never been disappointed. Drunken Noodle is the best. My favorite soup is glass noodle and you can't go wrong with the crispy rolls for an appetizer. Just talking about the food makes my mouth water! Another great thing about this place is it's BYOB.

I don't really understand what's French about this place, other than sometimes the music that's playing, but I like it anyway. Sadly though, the best things I've ever had here are not permanent menu items, like the carrot soup and the coconut custard with sticky rice. YUM. If those were always available, I'd eat here constantly. The regular menu items are good too, though, and the lunch special is a fantastic deal. Beware if you're paying with a credit card, the lunch special is so cheap you probably won't meet the minimum. But no worries, you can just get dessert--the mango with sticky rice is so tasty. Fantastic Thai iced tea. But why no pad see ew? That makes me sad.

I recently went here with my family. The food here, as many people have said before me is not very french except for the fact that they use generous amounts of wine in many of their sauces. I found the food to be quite tasty but fairly heavy fare, most of the food is good but almost every sauce was a bit too creamy and sweet for my taste. I will definitely be coming here again, but I've definitely had better

Normally, I'd probably give La Na 3 stars. It's pretty good food in general, I've never had anything bad but I've never had any exceptional entree either. I always enjoy my food and they give you a good amount so it makes a good lunch the next day. There is one thing they serve though, that really brings my meal above the average and keeps me coming back. This, my friends, is the lemongrass soup. Sweet, sour, spicy, and all around flavorful, I just cannot get enough of this. Now, I've never had lemongrass soup elsewhere so it might just be that I really like it in general, but whatever. La Na is forever a beautiful shining symbol of hot lemony goodness to me. Also, they have a great earlybird special that from (I believe) 11-2 it's like $7.95 for a soup, appetizer, and entree.

Again, not French. But even more disturbing is this place is really bad. My husband ordered a really bland dish - you could hardly taste it. I think it was chicken in a champagne cream sauce. He kept dipping his chicken in my sauce :-( I got an OK dish. The appetizers (Thai sampler) was good, but most of it was deep fried. Its hard to mess up deep fried. The service was less than enthusiastic. They never came back to ask how our meal was. I guess they knew it wasn't very good.

This is one of the first places I tried when I moved here earlier this month. i went with a vegan friend of mine and both of us had to refrain from rubbing the Jay Curry all over our bodies in the restaurant. The food here is amazing. We went at lunch time and there is only on person on the wait staff, so it took a little bit to get service. The server was super friendly and very polite. He explained how the lunch menu worked. (Soup, Appetizer and an Entree starting at $8!!) We ordered and ate like queens. :) I had take out for dinner tonight and I got the crispy rolls. They were amazing. The atmosphere is PERFECT for a date night. I love this little place. I highly recommend it. :)

there isn't really anything french about this place, but the thai is very good, and some of the specials are just so...special. once though, i ordered the quail stuffed with saffron rice. i searched and searched for this rice, but it never appeared. i presented our waitress a destroyed quail and asked where the rice was, and they admitted they had run out of saffron. what??? aside from that though, everything else has been great

OMG! I'm surprised this place has just 11 reviews. The best Thai food I ever had. Spice levels are pretty high (ask for it though) and large quantity. Very small place but excellent food. Not much of a décor, so try to visit this place during summer when they have the tables outside for dinner... it's much better. Entrees I like there are the green curry (ask for spice level, just yumm!), drunken noodles, pad thai and I remember having some fish dish which was simply superb... And its BYOB!

Stopped here for lunch today. Got a healthy portion of pad Thai, fried rolls, and one of the best soups I've ever had (glass noodle). All for under ten bucks. Amazing!
(4)Loren C.

Another great thing about this place is it's BYOB.

went for lunch today. had soup, salad and entree for under $10. Soup was amazing, as was salad. probably one of the best curry's I have had in Philadelphia area. next time I will get a Thai iced tea (those are my favorite)

If you're in Media really think about stopping in and trying this place. Excellent service and good food. As always I had the Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodle). No doubts about going back here.

I am a regular at this restaurant. BYOB, great food and nice service. Try any of the duck dishes, or tofu supreme. Food is great..

I've had nothing but great experiences here. The food is fantastic. The decor is enchanting. Wait staff is very friendly. And with it being a BYOB you can really keep the cost of a very nice meal very affordable. Highly recommended
