So was a little hesitant to try a pizza shop selling Italian dishes as the runner up. Not the case here, as this place is really an Italian bistro selling Italian cuisine as the showcase. We sat ourselves in the near full restaurant Friday around 6ish. There was only one woman running around taking orders and serving the food. I liked that the kitchen is open, with a nice pizza display. Everyone working here spoke Italian, which is more assuring than when I hear the staff speaking Spanish. We ordered mozzarella cheese sticks as an appetizer, but we were greeted with a nice surprise before they came out. A HUGE bowl of homemade marinara sauce surrounded by fresh, piping hot garlic knots, Italian bread, and pizza bread....complimentary. Oh yes...complimentary. We ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce (my moms go to Italian dish), a huge arse calzone (dad's go to Italian dish), and I had penne in this creamy rose garlic and basil sauce with a side order of meatballs. So the server forgot to put in order for the appetizer, but brought it out right before getting the entrees. Was apologetic and gave us more garlic knots...which made everything better. Plus, she was the only one running food and taking orders, so we didn't mind so much. She did a darn good job at keeping everyone happy too. Calzone came out HUGE and jam full of meat. Mom's spaghetti was good, but was ruined after she had a bite of mine! Mine was oh soo good, with the sauce bordering a possibility of being addicting. Not a whole lot came, though the price was only $8.50, with no meat. The side of meatballs gave me some meat to add, and were only $1.50 for three! The spaghetti was quite plentiful, as was the calzone. My daughter loved my sauce, and I selflessly gave her my leftovers for lunch the next day. The extra garlic knots are handy for cleaning up the excess sauce, especially that creamy garlicky basil sauce I had! All in all, I was very impressed by this place! I recognized one of the cooks, Bruno behind the open kitchen counter. After asking our waitress, she told us that he owns Sal's Pizzeria over off 114. Not a fan of their pasta over there, but man oh man I am at this place. My fave Italian eatery in the area now!!! Go check em out!!

Went tonight for our 2nd visit. Last time was several months ago. The good: every table gets a plate of hot garlic knots, rolls and sauce. The not-so-good: service The food was ok, nothing special. When we arrived they were busy so we waited a few minutes for a table to be cleared. At this time there were at least 4 dirty tables that needed cleared. There were two servers and 2 in the kitchen. We got our menus and a few minutes later ordered our food. While waiting for our drinks and bread we began observing what was going on at other tables. One table had received one of their entrees, but were still waiting for other entrees. Another table had ordered and was waiting for their food. Our waiter was in the kitchen making salads, as we still hadn't gotten our bread or drinks. Another table was seated, but at least 3 other tables still had the same dirty dishes, this after at least 10 minutes from when we were seated. The most recent seated table got their bread before they even got their menus while we still waited for our drinks and bread. The table near us asked again where the rest of their entrees were and were assured they were coming soon. Finally the girl working (not exactly the most motivated) asked us if we needed anything and we asked for our drinks and bread. She brought out our sodas in small (maybe 6 oz. glasses, smaller than all the others). We asked why so small and she said the rest were dirty. The other table got their drinks after us in regular size glasses so they must have washed some. We then got our bread, which was hot. The other table asked again about the missing entrees. Another table got their entrees but had never gotten their bread. About 10 minutes later when they were 1/2 way done with their meals they finally got their bread. The table next to us asked for the missing entrees to go, but weren't charged for them. The table that ordered pizza finally got theirs about 25 minutes after they ordered. The food was ok, nothing special. Pierogies were frozen but not too bad except the cook rushed to plate them. Two of them were very heavily salt and peppered, hardly any on the other two. The onions were large, chopped pieces and the butter was not evenly distributed. They could have been much better with smaller chopped onions and more evenly plated. The other food items were ok. Since this place has been open at least 3-4 months, they should have the kinks worked out by now with service and preparation. Understaffed and very inefficient. We noticed the server having words with the cook regarding how long things were taking while the older gentleman making the pizza had one speed, slow!!!! He also did not seem to help the other cook when possible. Unfortunately I predict that this place will be closed by the end of 2013 unless they greatly improve the service.

Food is great; however, one night they said they would deliver (on Friday 6/7) and the next night (Saturday 6/8) they refused. They hand delivered a flyer to the neighborhood stating they delivered, but refused to follow through. I am highly dissatisfied and disappointed. I was planning on placing a large order for a party, but was let down by their lack of consistency and customer service with delivery policy.

We wanted to try this place out for awhile now. After finding a double take deal on my phone we decided to give it a go. We went on a Friday evening and we were surprised to see a near full house. There was only one waiter for the dining room so we were prepared to wait for our food. After our drinks were served (in very small glasses,) the waiter brought out a plate with two pieces of garlic bread and four pieces of dry semi burnt slices of Italian bread. We were not off to a very good start. Next came a dinner salad. Not to bad as salad go, probably the best thing to eat all night. When our dinners arrived, we were once again disappointed. My husband ordered scallops alfredo and I had the chicken marsala. The flavor of both dishes was not up to par with even the most average pizza places. My chicken was very chewy and stringy. I scraped off the sauce to find a piece of chicken that had fake grill lines on one side of the portion. I knew then that I was eating a processed and frozen piece of chicken. Gross! My husbands scallops were sitting in a pool of greasy looking pasta. Again...gross. To top it off, the owner said he could not take the double take deal off my phone. He needed a printed copy. In my opinion... That was three strikes...your out! I am calling double take to get a refund for my coupon purchase.

Under new management. Pizza is always amazing and no that's not all that's good pasta dishes are ten times better than any Italian joint in the area! Don't know how to convey how comfortable I am with eating at this place every day for the rest of my life. Try it you won't regret it!

I paid $14 for a large calzone and then had a seat waiting for my order. The wait was fine and anticipated. What I observed was a poorly managed organization lead by Bruno himself. Bruno is rude and curt with his staff which results in poor service. He is cold to patrons. When I looked at my large calzone I realized I had been severely over charged. This was my first visit and my last.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
