We tried this restaurant after a few recommendations. Overall, the atmosphere is very nice and romantic, although we were seated right by the kitchen and almost on top of the people next to us. The appetizers weren't all that interesting, but the soups sounded good, so we started with those. My chicken pancetta soup could've come from a can, and while my husband's crab bisque was okay, the versions we get near our own house in Virginia Beach are much better (which I guess I should expect.) Our entrees were very good. I was very happy with the rack of lamb I got, and my husband's lobster tail special was also decent. But, the desserts were poor. I was pretty excited when I saw a chocolate souffle on the menu, but when I got it, it turned out just to be a lukewarm molten chocolate cake that seemed like it had come from a box of frozen desserts. My husband's cheesecake was the same- a small round disc of something sort of resembling an actual cheesecake. The menu did a great job of making everything seem a lot fancier than it actually was. My souffle certainly fell victim to this problem, and the cheesecake's "strawberry vanilla coulis" turned out just to be a smear of strawberry sauce on the plate. The service overall was decent, and the place seemed friendly. It's definitely an older crowd overall. I might go back because our entrees were very good, but everything else was just okay. So, I wouldn't rush, and I definitely wouldn't stay for dessert.

Absolutely beautiful place with stellar service! I bet if I had come here to stay at their inn, I'd give them 4 or 5 stars. Having come here for their Thanksgiving dinner though, I can only honestly give them 3.5 stars (too bad Yelp doesn't do half stars). Coming from NYC, I expect food that comes at this somewhat hefty price to wow my palate. Instead, you're mostly paying for atmosphere and service here. So, the Thanksgiving dinner here is a $55 prix-fixe per person, with an appetizer, a soup/salad, an entree with two sides, and a dessert. Sounds like a lot but it really isn't and quantity never should make up for lack of culinary prowess. I ordered the cocktail shrimp for an appetizer, the butternut squash soup, the turkey entree with cranberry sauce and stuffing as sides, and the pumpkin pie for dessert. Of everything I ordered, only the butternut squash soup, the cranberry sauce, and the cocktail sauce for the shrimp stood out to me. The butternut squash soup was deliciously fresh, smooth, and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning to bring out the natural sweetness of the squash. The cranberry sauce, probably made in-house, was fresh and not overly sweetened like other cranberry sauces I've had. The cocktail sauce was also great but nothing too too special -- just your typical good solid cocktail sauce. Still, these three things do not merit a $55 price tag. The rest of the food was not only mediocre at best. The shrimp cocktail only consisted of 4 tiny shrimp on a plate (not even jumbo shrimp); I expected the normal glass or bowl with a dozen or so shrimp hanging from its rim. The shrimp was cooked well but shrimp isn't that hard to cook, especially when there are only 4. The turkey was moist and tender but lacking flavor -- whoever was in charge of the bird obviously didn't do much more than simply cook it. The gravy was watery and flavorless as well, and the mashed potatoes were just damp, flavorless, and mushy. Mashed potatoes are supposed to bear some resemblance to potatoes, at least in flavor (and when well-made, should have some butter or cream mixed in); The mashed potatoes we got were mostly water, as if they were made from those instant mashed potatoes boxes (just add water!). The vegetables were a bit over-steamed cause everything was quite mushy. Even the stuffing, which is supposed to carry most of the flavor, was under-seasoned, too damp, and generally texture-less. Finally, the dessert... let's just say this was probably the most disappointing pumpkin pie I've ever had (that includes pies I've gotten from grocery stores). It had the texture of poorly congealed gelatin, wobbling under your touch and just... feeling like soft jelly in your mouth. I don't know how else to describe it. Although the pie was underseasoned (by which I mean, there were barely any autumnal spices), it was ridiculously, cloyingly sweet. Coupled with the intense caramel drizzle on top, I could barely take more than a bite before I'd reached my sugar limit. My mom and brother ordered similar dishes, with the exception of my brother's appetizer and my mom's entree. My brother ordered the veal meatballs, which were ok. They also had a lot of textural issues (mushy, damp, etc.) but taste-wise, they were decent. My mom, being vegetarian, had the waitress replace the entree with their vegetarian lasagna, which my mom said was decent as well. Food aside, the service was phenomenal! Being a vegetarian, my mom is hard to eat out with and sometimes we'd encounter really rude wait staff who just tell us that they can't accommodate my mom's needs. Our waitress at Bridgetown, though, immediately offered to ask the chef to make the vegetarian lasagna especially for my mom, despite it not being on the menu. From the start, we'd gotten a fantastic impression from the restaurant's staff. The friendly and welcoming manager checked in our coats when we first arrived and asked us to have a seat in the waiting area while they prepped our table. The waiting area is a beautiful, cozy living room space with four armchairs circling a fireplace. Ever-attentive, the manager also asked if we'd like any drinks while we waited. From the get-go, we felt welcomed and pampered. All throughout dinner, the staff were just as attentive, friendly, and helpful, and despite the mediocre food, we had a fantastic meal and were all put in the best of moods. Plus, they gave my mom and I single roses to end the night! The beautifully rustic, homey decor only added to our pleasure. It's because of this exemplary service and atmosphere, that I recommend this place to others. Just be prepared to splurge on mediocre food. Food: 3/5 -- Mediocre and definitely not worth the money. Service: 5/5 -- Phenomenal! Truly some of the best service I've ever encountered. Atmosphere: 5/5 -- Beautifully rustic, homey, cozy, and intimate. Overall: 3.5/5 -- Great! Would be exceptional if the food were better

Don't count on them honoring your reservation. I reserved a room about a week in advance, complete with credit card info. A couple days later, I received a call from the front desk that went to voicemail asking that I call back to confirm, which I did less than 20 minutes later. Apparently my urgent attention had been required in that call so that they could do...something to lock in my reservation because the lady told me that my room had been booked by someone else. If you reserve a room here, make alternate plans in case they decide not to honor the reservation. Such a thing has never happened to me before now, and I've traveled around my fair share. It's bewildering and unprofessional.

All I can say is Wow! Such a cool antique concept. We ordered oysters, crab cake and escargot for appetizer. Everything was delicious and that was probably the best crab cake I ever had. I had filet mignon, (cooked medium)for main course and it was cooked just right. For dessert We tried the apple cake with ice cream. Our server was very friendly and informative and the entire experience was great. I cant wait till it gets warm so we can also check out the outside.

My husband made reservations for Valentines Day. We arrived 30 minutes early thinking we would just wait until our reservation time to be seated. However, we were turned away completely because the kitchen ran out of food. What? Did the number of reservations you made mean nothing when you ordered food?? So now we find ourselves without dinner plans on Valentine's Day after paying he babysitter for a romantic night out. But don't worry, they promised to give us a free glass of wine when we return. Not likely!!!!!

We've been here three times before and had wonderful experiences, so we made plans to return to Valentines Day! What a disaster! It's clear the Inn is under new ownership/management that doesn't know what they are doing. When entering we were welcomed with the barking hostess telling us they are 30 min behind. That would have been fine but that was just the beginning. We had a 8pm reservation and were told they were out if almost all of the food. Although they offered to seat us (all customers after us were turned away... Even with reservations) we declined to pay the prefix for no entree options. We will never go back! Please ignore the previous reviews when managed under the original owners. Those great aspects of this place no longer apply.

After reading reviews, my husband booked a table for Valentine's Day pre-fixe dinner. The other reviews (which I now thoroughly question as all authentic) indicated it should be a great little ""romantic"" spot around the corner from us. If you want to know why I now think nobody ever recommended it to us directly, read on... Parking was great considering the snow. However, it reeked like a backed up septic system in the parking area we used (there are two areas if that might bother you, maybe try the 413 side). Even though we had a reservation, we waited at least 40 minutes for our table, in the ""lounge"", which was just a very awkward, very small room with four paisley upholstered chairs and a bench (looked like a shrinks office). O, there was a bar, if by bar you mean a fold up table with a cloth on it and lots of people either waiting around or trying to make the bartender's life hard with way overcomplicated martini requests. No problem, we thought at first, just an odd start.... maybe we were just expecting too much at first or a different atmosphere as expected from reviews we had read. Eating at a lot of different venues over the years, sometimes we get too excited about new places. Then when we got seated, our waitress asked us what we'd like to drink, got the drinks and asked us to order. They didn't manage to bring the bread, even though we tried to ask as people whizzed by. I forgot to mention we were seated in the main throughway. We did get some water which was acceptable so far as water goes. I ordered a glass of wine which had bits of cork in it. It was 9$ and I honestly think it was sutter home or something about half that $ per liter with an authentic busted cork on top for show. When I tried to get my waitress about the cork, she ignored me. Maybe because she was busy, but maybe because there is a theme... I understand it was a house wine, its just I get better house wine at chain restaurants for less money, without the cork. As lame as that was, if they wanted to make more money, all they had to do was ask if we'd like another drink, its vday we'd probably have a second drink... but they couldn't manage... actually they didn't need to because about 4 minutes passed before we received our appetizer. A cold crabcake. OK, its just an app, surely the main dish would save us. Drinks? Please? nope Before we killed the crabcake they fired our entrees, which was good timing if they were trying to free up our table. After waiting so long to get a table I was absolutely amazed we were now outpacing fastfood joints in delivery. Just a few minutes later the main dishes were served, very plain/bland in appearance and taste. We didn't get the cheapest ones either. I got a salmon with risotto plate, and my husband got rack of lamb. The salmon and lamb themselves were about the quality you would get at any other place that serves them (including cheaper joints), just bland with low quality sides. Regarding the atmosphere, if you are not sure about the crowd... There were some old-senior couples, which was cute in a way. They seemed to have an OK time. There were a few other younger couples in there, that appeared underwhelmed too. There was one smug couple that made a complete spectacle of their wine/drink selection and followed up with a lovely loud conversation about how many summer camps they could send their kids away to so they could "travel Europe". I didn't want to listen to their conversation, I promise you ;) Their targeted wine ""knowledge"" more/less implied they might be regulars, but that is just a guess. I could see it being a neat spot to rent out for a function, but I wouldn't risk it. I know it was a "busy" night, and a prefixed menu (which IMO should be harder to mess up) but that is not an excuse for this experience. I have been to different tiers of restaurants on holidays, and I never had terribly insipid or cold food. Normally I just expect a wait. Certainly I expect a bit better from a 100$ meal (for 2), even on a busy night. "Atmosphere" and wait staff attitude was very disappointing. I didn't want to leave a tip, which is the second time in my life I've ever thought about it (other at a pizza dive), but my husband insisted we can't blame the staff, so I wrote this. I'm not ever planning to go back there, and I would not recommend it to anyone I know.

The Millhouse has become our special occasion restaurant for my wife and I. It is one of the best kept secrets in Bucks County. The atmosphere is elegant without being overly pretentious and for us the service has always been outstanding. The place looks great decorated for Christmas and the giant fireplace in the main dining room makes for a romantic setting. In the summer time they have outdoor dining and a very nice outdoor bar. I have only ever been for dinner, but we are planning to try the bed and breakfast in the Spring.

The atmosphere is the best feature of the Bridgetown Mill House although the crowd on a Saturday night skewed a bit older. Dining room had lots of charm and I was seated by the fireplace. However, I give the food just an "A-OK" as I was expecting a better quality steak for the price I paid.

Awful. First, the service was subpar and not friendly. I ordered the grouper, and it was the worst. I never return a meal and absolutely had to return this one. It seemed to be covered in slime. I assume they coated it in flour and " tried to pan sear it" but, all it ended up as was a slimy undercooked fish. When I ordered a second glass of wine, the waitress came over and topped off my 1/4 glass of wine. My husband's gin and tonic was just tonic. Just not a good experience. I would have preferred to go to a more casual restaurant like the Green Parrot in Newtown instead of spending much more money for low quality.
