Horrifying food! We hadn't been in for a couple of years & I thought the pot roast dinner sounded yummy. When it came it was scrap pieces of roast smothered in gravy with hard mashed potatoes & microwaved veggies. I stuck my fork in the mashed potatoes & it stood upright! They wouldn't even smoosh. The veggies were clearly out of a bag & microwaved - dry & shriveled. I sent it back & ordered a bagel with matzo ball soup. The matzo balls were literally gray. I asked, what is this on them? And the waitress tried to tell me it's just what they look like when they soak in the soup - um, no . . . Again, I stuck my spoon into one & it stood upright - they were old, hard & very likely would have given me food poisoning. Food shouldn't be gray! The MOST horrifying restaurant experience I've had in YEARS!! Please let's get this place shut down & let's just remember the Rose's of better years gone by!

We have been going to Rose's for years since moving here from L.A. Based on the service and food today, this will be our last time. The food has always been fresh and the place clean, so we are VERY disappointed. Two of us went today, a Saturday at around 2p. Our favorite waitress was there and greeted us. There were only a few tables with people and we were starved. One of us eats low carb and ordered one pound of pastrami, heated and some pickles and I ordered my favorite pastrami reuben. Well, 1/2 hour later no food and no sign of our server. I suggested we just up and leave but then relented and I figured I'd go to the counter at 40, yes 40 minutes in and see what happened to our server. Well....they brought out the pastrami, and in my life I have never seen pastrami that looked like this. It was awful! And this was someone other than our server who brought it. 10 minutes later, yes, another 10, my sandwich shows up with my original server. I asked if she was o.k and what happened and all she could do was apologize.....huh? Again, there were only about 4 tables with people! Well, my reuben had been sitting somewhere for awhile so the coleslaw had soaked the bread by now and the bread was wet and soggy......really? 15 minutes later (and yes, we kept track of the time) an even different person came over to ask how everything was. I told her to just charge me for the fries as I had been waiting 15 minutes to send back the reuben and the pastrami. We decided to get a box and take the pastrami home for our dog! And I did something I have NEVER done in my entire life. I didn't leave a tip. I am typically a very generous tipper and even tip in situations when most wouldn't. They just lost a customer. I have a job where I engage with all the new homeowners moving into Sherwood as well as all the local areas and I refer them to local businesses. After today and seeing how things have gone down hill in the last few months, they will no longer be referred by me when asked for a good local restaurant. Truly, this was the worst food/service I've experienced as long as I can remember! So disappointed!

Pork belly was fattier and had more gristle than anything I've ever eaten. And, the meat slices were coated in some gelatinous substance that made it impossible to chew. Dark forest cake resembled in no way what the menu described. It was fairly bland with whipping cream as the main focus.

Rose's: 1. The food can be pretty good. 2. The deserts are what make the place. My most recent trip here was for a quick dinner with the wife and one of our kids. The waitresses here are always very nice and quick to cover our needs. The slowness seems to stem from behind the counter (ie - the kitchen). I've had this happen here before where, it seems like it's not that busy but it takes too long to get your food. However, once the food arrives it's usually a pleasant experience. Last night I had the pastrami burger (picture has been uploaded). The burger itself was cooked well, but still moist and was piled with more than enough pastrami to make it a very filling meal. I have learned that they usually overdo it on the kraut (at least for my liking) so it's wise to get it on the side and add it as needed. I could have used a bit more dressing as it seemed light. Overall the sandwich was well prepared and tasted good. For desert it was German chocolate cake. The slices of cake are big, so it's easy to split this between 2 people (or in our case between us and a 4 year old). Moist, chocolaty goodness. Another one of my favorites are their eclairs. Overall, I generally have good experiences at this Rose's. Downside is it can be slow sometimes. I also prefer them for lunch and dinner as I find their breakfast selection to be small and have never been impressed with their breakfast home-style potatoes.

Sadly I have to downgrade my rating to a 1 star after today. We stopped by for lunch and I had been craving a Pastrami sammy so I paid the 12 bucks for their signature pastrami on rye. By the time it gets to you, the bread is already soggy and they use the not so famous restaurant trick of piling all the meat in the middle to make you think is is a HUGE sandwich and there is then only meat in the middle, I normally dis-assemble and cover all the bread and re-assemble. The Sauerkraut was abysmally bland, no taste whatsoever and the Thousand Island Dressing was also horribly bland, I had to dip in ranch dressing to get any taste at all. Hubby made the mistake of getting the fish and chips and they were gross. No way in hell they make these themselves although they advertise they do. They are straight out of a bag, little amount of fish lots of batter and they are all the same approximate size. Both our fries were ehhhh, barely lukewarm. The cole slaw was extremely forgettable. Back in the day 20 years ago or so they had damn good food, sadly that has gone downhill. I can now understand why they are closing all their locations. p.s. their desserts look good but are incredibly freaking expensive, go to New Seasons for a similar product for half the price, that's what i did on my way home!

Love it. The restaurant is cute and casual. The service was friendly, fast and efficient. Our family at there once for lunch and once for dinner. The meatloaf was a hit as were the fish and chips. I had a very good chicken salad I would highly recommend.

We had a craving for something sweet so we hopped in the car and headed to roses. Right when you walk in you are overwhelmed with the dessert choices and you want everything. I think they get this a lot because knew we just needed a minute to stand there and take it all in. Once we figured out what we wanted they sat us right down and the waitress was so nice. We each got big glasses of water to was the sugar down and were very happy. For great baked goods, come to Rose's!

Our experience was good but the menu has changed -- it's gone away from the Jewish deli concept it used to have, to more routine American food. They don't have potato pancakes on the menu anymore. The matzo ball had herbs in it and a darker color, different from the usual solid light colored ball of the past. I guess the changes made me a little sad. Our server, Aaron, on the other hand, was marvelous. It would be worth going there just to sit in his section. Very attentive and nice without being overbearing. That made it a happy dinner time. I would go back but I think they should put some of the unique items back on the menu -- those are what made it really special.

I went and saw Grandma Rose tonight :-) :-) Yes.... Going to Roses is a flash back to good ole Gramma's cooking. I remember going to the one that used to be on 102nd when I was a kid. It all started in 1956 when a gal named Rose Naftalin who moved to Portland from Ohio and opened a small restaurant on NW 23rd Avenue. Soon her Reuben's, matzo ball soup, desserts, specialty cakes and Rose's Original Giant Cinnamon Roll were super well known. Rose was well known as a great chef and cookbook author. She gained recognition across the nation as "Grandma Rose." There you have it! Upon entering this location I was greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was about 1/2 full. And I noticed that Gramma Roses has a lounge as well now.... odd for this kind of place. Actually weird! Gramma's probably spinning in her grave. The waitress came by about 4 minutes later and provided me with a menu and took my drink order. She was pleasant and helped answer the questions I had about the menu. So anyhow....I chose the Chicken Bacon Pasta from the extensive menu. It comes with a salad or soup and a couple thinly sliced/toasted bagel with a lil cheddar on them. I received my salad promptly and it consisted of romaine and iceberg lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives. It was fresh and good. It took awhile for the pasta to come but when it did it was piping hot and looked wonderful. The taste was spectacular... True comfort food. I wasn't so keen on the bagels chips... They were hard and dry. Yuck! I was however given a piece of garlic foccocia bread which was A ok. Now here's where the not so happy comes in. After I got my pasta I never saw my waitress again... Well at least at my table. She was visiting with people and having a great time. I finished and she still didn't show up with the check but she was still laughing and visiting with others. Usually a good waitress will come by and check how your food is, refill your drink and ask if you want dessert (especially in a place that features desserts). I got none of these! Finally after not seeing my waitress for about 35 minutes my impatience caught the eye of another waiter and they gave me my check. Too bad... Something that started so good, ended so wrong. 2015-68

One of my favorite places and the best Ruben sandwiches around. We went for lunch today and we were seated outside since the weather is amazing. We were immediately greeted by our waitress and our diet cokes were served very promptly. But that is where the good things stopped. After our waitress forgot about us, she admitted to it and apologized, we went to pay for our drinks which they did not make us pay for. We left today, but will go back as this is not our normal experience at this restaurant. But we are now a little more hesitant when choosing our options. I would say they were very apologetic, which is great customer service.

I was here recently for a late lunch with the MIL and our kiddo. A nice little family get-together. I've seen this place in passing and it's fairly close to the MIL. It's located in a strip mall. There is a dining area and a lounge. When you enter, there is large display of desserts. The cinnamon roll is HUGE. It looks like a loaf of bread and their french toast is a slice of this cinnamon roll. I thought the prices of the desserts were a little too much. I did go home with a cannoli and it was delicious but I didn't think it was worth the price I paid for it. The food was good. They serve breakfast until 2pm on the weekends and we were there just before then. Our waitress was very friendly and nice. It was quite busy. I ordered the Mexican Chorizo and Garlic Shrimp burger on a brioche bun with their potato salad. The burger was good. The chorizo is not overpowering and the shrimp was delicious. I thought the potato salad okay. It was a tad bit on the sweet side for me. Like sweet pickle sweet. The sweetheart ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger which also came on a brioche bun and you can substitute with a honey wheat or gluten-free bun for free. It was a heaping burger with thick-sliced bacon and he ended up eating it with fork and knife. The MIL ordered their pancakes and she seemed to have enjoyed it. Our kiddo ordered the french toast, the one with the slice of cinnamon roll. He liked it so much, he cleaned the plate. All in all, it was a good experience and I liked the food. I'd like to try their breakfast next time.

This place continues to flounder. It has gone through some more management changes and menu changes and still lacks anything "special". I may be jaded because I am old enough to remember the original Rose's and when they first brought back the brand several years ago it came back with all the tradition and flare of the original. It's had ownership and management change I don;t know how many times and it really just isn't anything special anymore. They have added so much to their menu that instead of doing a few things really well they do a bunch things just ok. Luckily for them Sherwood doesn't have a lot of other options, so people eat here for lack of other options. suspect that is why their other locations like Beaverton and closed. I hope they get it together because as Sherwood grows and more places open, they wont be able to sustain "just ok" for much longer.

I've grown up in the area and loved Roses but lately they've become pretty mediocre. Their identity crisis is more and more obvious. They call themselves a bakery and deli but now it seems their trying to push their lounge now. The place is too dated and tired to be a real hot spot and as a 21 year old in the area roses is not ideal for a hangout or a drink. Not only is the "bakery" completely lacking in fresh baked goods, their sandwiches are boring and their ever changing menu is becoming more and more inedible. I really wish they'd focus on the basics that made them great: good food and good service. Not worth it right now.

Have come in multiple times before, but tonight was a bad bad experience. Friendly and fast service and my starter salad were the saving graces, but I ordered the spaghetti and (stuffed?) meatballs, which intrigued me. What I received was a bowl of spaghetti driving in a watery flavorless tomato sauce with a insane portion of probably a pound of pate/cat food textured meatballs. Vile. Probably stuffed with a piece of a string cheese stick. The focaccia on the side was falling apart and was still the best part of the dish. I just could not deal with the disintegrating meatballs. They literally just melted away. Not good.

Rose Naftalin must be rolling over in her grave. The service is atrocious. Everyone is nice, but the system is terribly inefficient. Upon arrival toward the end of the lunch time frame with one other person, I was told that there might be a wait for a table. I looked around and saw numerous empty tables. We were seated after a short wait, but then it was a long time until a (friendly) waitress came along. The menu is overpriced and limited. The sandwich section mentions nothing about corned beef or pastrami as an option on a "regular" deli sandwich, while it trumpets them as part of a reuben only. Clearly, the management wants you to buy a $15 Reuben and not buy a more reasonably priced sandwich. There is also no section for "sides" on the menu. The children's menu was quite expensive --- $6.99 per item (I'm used to $4.50 or so). The food was thoroughly mediocre. More disturbingly, it took FOREVER to reach the table. After fighting my way through the menu, I ordered a cold pastrami sandwich with potato salad. How long does that take to throw together? I didn't order desserts, but noticed they were overpriced as well. Napoleons and cannoli here in little old Sherwood cost about twice what they cost in NYC! I will never come back.

We were seated almost immediately upon entering, which was nice for a Saturday night. They were accommodating for the two young children in our party, which was also much appreciated. Our hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and attentive. The food cam out quickly, and was hot. I ordered the Philly cheese steak. Which was made perfectly. I was there the Saturday 5/23 around 10am-11am. I've been here a total of three times. I really wanted to love this place because I orderd a breakfast burrito to go before and it was awesome and the guy that took my order last time was awesome, but this review has to be 1 star because of our waitress for this second time that I actually went to go sit in. The redhead hostess was very accommodating, she was excellent. There there were no more booth seats in the dining area except in the bar. So, she offered the booths in the bar. Everything went downhill after that, our waitress didn't know anything about the menu and that toast came with the breakfast burrito and told me they have all kinds of breads but then said pumpernickel wasn't one they had, then she told us it was only her 2nd day working there, we let it slide. But her presence and demeanor seemed unfriendly and pushy, anyway we noticed that not only was her makeup caked on her face but there was a large gash with blood on the side of her lip, AND she was touching it the whole time, I watched her walk over to the order machines to put the order in and she was touching her bloody gash! GROSS! I mean that could be a hazard, right? Like you hear on the news people contracting hepatitis and we weren't going to risk it. We wanted to tell the manager but it would have been easier to not make a scene so we cancelled our order and left.

Just stopped in for a slice of cake. At $5.99 a slice I thought the portion would be adequate for the price. The portion was very small to my dismay. Even more troubling was that the cake had a refrigerated for a month taste such that my wife and I ate less than half of cake and threw the rest away. It would be questionable at a steak and shake at $1.99 a slice at 2 am.

I am a Portland native and have been to Roses in Portland many times. I have never been unhappy - just stuffed. I stopped in Sherwood for a rare treat these days for me - a french dip sandwich. It was very good - the meat could have been sliced a bit thinner. But I got something I didn't order. A severe case of food poisoning. Three days worth of misery. I sent an email to the manager who seemed not to believe me and sent me a gift card. That is one card I won't be using. Be careful.

Typical mid-range diner sort of fare. Nothing special here. What is sometimes called "family dining." The breakfasts are solid... nice breakfasts. They brag up on their "famous" Ruben. They taunted us with a neon sign proclaiming this for months and months before they opened. I love good Ruben. What a let-down. The famous Ruben? It's bland. So disappointing. The Burgers are typical. The fries are good. The deserts look oh so good in the display case, but they look better than they are. Enjoy looking at them, but don't bother ordering one.

I have visited this lovely stop a number of times, and almost every time I order off the happy hour menu. This place has one of the most varied happy hour menus in the area. Everything from fish tacos to sliders to chicken strips. All very cheap and good portions. The only dissapointment may be that you can not order any of the cured meats and sandwiches off of the happy hour menu that this place is famous for. The signature dish (for me and my friends) is the pastrami cheese fries. My goodness- heart stopping pleasure with some sourkrout and sauce drizzled on the fries to form the perfect combination of messy shareable cholesterol laden bites of goodness. The staff is friendly, sometimes they are a tad slow. The interior is roomy and clean, very suburban, the TV's are too small and only a couple of them, so don't come here if you plan on catching a game. I can't comment on the sandwiches as that's really not in my food repitore and bug that is really what the place is famous for. I have heard they are good. But if you want to get those fries and spend some time on the happy hour menu with friends, you will definitely like it.

I was on my way to the wineries and I stopped at Rose's to get some fortifications, prior to imbibing. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, including a gi-normous cinnamon roll and eggs benedict. Our server was Leslie and she was amazing. She always filled our coffee and made us feel like we were special and the only ones in the place. The cinnamon roll needs to be shared by at least two people or more, and if you start with a cinnamon roll, you should also share your breakfast. Yum yum. We were stuffed when we left so we left all the delicious pastries for someone else to enjoy. I will definitely go back when on my morning run to drink some wine.

If Portland is missing one thing it's more NYC style deli's that serve pastrami, and classics like matzo ball soup and corned beef. When the rain set's me and my hubby like to warm up with a giant bowl of the matzo ball soup, because it's just perfect. I also love all the variety of sandwiches. I personally enjoy some coleslaw on my toasted pastrami on rye, and they are one of the few places that makes that sandwich without me having to special order it. Service can be slow and the last few times our order had been messed up slightly, but the waitress was apologetic and corrected the order so we where more than happy. If you happen to save room for dessert, by all means get the eclair!!! It's epic.

Rose's has some of the best French dip sandwiches I've had. They don't skimp on the meat which is tender and juicy, the rolls always are fresh and lightly toasted, and they melt cheese over the beef. And the Au Jus is tasty. My only complaints are that I always need to request a second cup of Au Jus because one is never enough. The included sides are potato salad, french fries, or fruit. It would be nice if they had a green salad option. Rose's also makes some of the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had at a restaurant, and they make it from scratch. Yum yum yum. The staff is always friendly and attentive. But be wary if you are on a diet - there is a HUGE selection of utterly tasty desserts made in house.

I was so in need of writing a good review after my last review/fiasco with a widely know company. So why not start with Rose's? I mean, how can one not love this place? It isn't fancy, it isn't trendy, it isn't all that original in it's concept or design, but dang, I must say, Rose's aims to please! I loved dinning at Rose's when they were located in the Streets of Tanasbourne in Hillsboro. I would make special trips there on occasions to pick up some FRESH baked treats for the family. Oh how yummy their sweets are! Then...it closed!!! Oh, the heartache! Now I have to drive all the way down to Sherwood to visit the closest Rose's. Luckily I have had the chance to do this a few times in the last year. Both times the food was great! But this last time, not only was the food great, the service was SPECTACULAR! I, for the very first time in my life, tried a Reuben Sandwich with all the fixings! Risking business!! But, hey, you only live once and I really wanted to know what it tasted like. Let me tell you! It was awesome! Awesome! Loved it! Our waitress was amazing! So kind, so friendly, so helpful. She provided the exact amount of service we required. Not too much, not too little, just the right amount. And she was quick. Our to-go boxes came fast, our bill came on time, I could go on and on. Honestly this gal was on my list of top 2 servers I have ever had in any establishment. The other server was in a high end steak house where meals started at around $50 a plate. Yeah, you better believe that guy was good, but this was just a middle age gal working in the local Rose's. Someone who obviously takes pride in their work and cares about their customers. Ma'am, I wish I could recall your name! You, dear, deserve some recognition for your hard work! If you love cake, go to Rose's Deli. If you love cheap as heck happy hour from 4pm to Close with some tasty eats in the bar, go to Rose's Deli. Did I mention the cake love? Go. Look. Order. Salivate. Eat. Enjoy. I ordered the Bailey's Triangle, and found that I simply couldn't finish it - it was enough tasty chocolate dessert to be enjoyed by two. The waitress described it as delicious, wonderful, and heavenly, and I'd say there isn't really anything to add. My date had a slice of the carrot cake, which was moist and tasty, and by the time they finished there was still enough for an entire dessert. As I said, if you like cake, get thee to Rose's Deli. Why are you still here? Get going!

Okay, my original review was in 2011 and last night (2/08/13) I ordered the exact same meal and got a totally different experience. I will lead off that the service my wife and I got in the lounge where they seated us was great. Courteous, friendly and attentive. Our iced teas were never empty and food was promptly served. Now, for the food. We ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer, the Deli Cobb Salad for my wife and 'The New Yorker' sandwich for me. The mushrooms could have been cooked a little longer. Soggy and not visually looking the way we have had them before. When we bit into our first ones we said the exact same thing to each other, "salty." We tried without the ranch they serve them with and they were still salty. My wife stopped, and I ate a few more. I can tolerate salty, plus I was real hungry. My sandwich came and it did not have as much meat as it normally comes with and it was a little dryer than normal. Flavor on the sandwich was good, just not as big as they have been. My wife's salad looked good, though halfway through it, she pulled a hair from the bottom of the salad bowl. Though, we are not blow up and freak out type, she was hungry and disregarded it as a 'stuff happens' moment. I love my wife. Anyways, it was later than than the usual time we eat and I almost wish we would have gone to Shari's. That should sum it up that this was a bad night for Rose's. Oh, and I used to remember getting a great pickle served with my sandwich... Last night... No pickle! I hope it's better the next time I go.

Being a deli / bakery, this is definitely a lunch eatery. However, I went for dinner. My monthly book club decided to meet here this month so I thought it would be a great excuse to try Rose's for the first time. Knowing it was a deli, I definitely wasn't expecting such a large facility. Upon entering, I immediately headed to the right since the bar area caught my eye. It was a Monday night, but the place was pretty dead. So this is definitely a lunch spot - but us dinner-goers benefit because Rose's offers a great happy hour from 4pm-close nightly. No joke! I promptly ordered a pint of beer since it also happened to be micro brew Monday where all draft pours are just $3! They also have other neat daily specials throughout the week. I was really starting to dig this place. I was excited to see mozzarella sticks on the menu so I ordered a serving ($5.95 for 8 average-sized sticks). Unfortunately these were just average tasting - didn't blow my socks off. But the waitress had them delivered to my spot just a few short minutes after ordering. So major points for super prompt service. I closed my tab at this point and relocated to a proper table and got ready / set up to meet my book club group. This was everyone's first time at Rose's so we took a few minutes pondering the great happy hour prices on the menu. We ordered a round of drinks and started with a huge pile of tater tots for $2.95. Since I had just scarfed down a bunch of mozzarella sticks, I decided to order a kids grilled cheese to keep things simple & small. Other orders at my table were all from the happy hour menu and were all more than large enough portions to count as entrees. We had the cranberry & walnut salad ($3.95), fish tacos ($3.95), and the BBQ pork blue chip nachos ($4.95). Everyone loved their food - especially for the very low price and amount served. This would definitely be a fun place to try at lunch and get one of their New York deli style sandwiches. But it will be hard to convince me to go for lunch when I know I love the 4pm-close happy hour menu so much. We will definitely be holding some future book club meetings at this spot!

I had such good memories of the Rose's on 23rd years back. My husband and I went hoping that this satellite location would be at least as good and maybe better? I ended up with a terrible stomach ache and sickness from the meal, which really bummed me out. Disclaimer: we ate there in 2007/8 I haven't really be up to be back since, but currently am on the hunt for a better than average birthday cake. Do I risk it? We'll see I guess...

Your eyes will pop when you walk through the door. A whole wall of desserts to satisfy everyone. The menu offers a wide selection too and the kids always something they want too. Some of our favs our the chicken strips, Mac and cheese, salads and cheeseburger. Service has always been good and the booths are Hugh so you can sir up to eight, don't find that often, so good for larger groups. Well worth the drive.

I was told by my date that we had to try Rose's Deli because they have amazing desserts. So over we went and OMG, he wasn't kidding. Their cakes are simply HUGE. Now I'm not a size queen, but wow these cakes are ridiculous. The first thing I saw was carrot cake, but that is my old standby, so I decided to try the napoleon for something outside of my norm. The waitress described it as heavenly, which made me all the more eager to try it. Sadly she came back with my partners dessert choice and told me they were all out of my choice. She made some suggestions and even dissuaded me from one, stating I would likely be disappointed (something I always greatly appreciate in a server). So I went back with my tried and true carrot cake. It was moist, delicious and did I mention HUGE! I could only eat half of it. The other half was taken to go and seriously, it was as if it was a whole piece of "normal" sized cake. Down sides: not having my first choice (which granted is not the end of the world) but then after giving them my alternative choice having to wait quite an extended period of time for them to cut a piece and bring it to me, all the while my partner is enjoying his dessert - 1/2 star, also the waitress did a bit of a disappearing act on us after that and we had to wait quite a while after we finished just to get the check and a box for my cake - 1/2 star

I expected to be bowled over by this place since it is assign offshoot of the famous Rose's in NW Portland ... but I was definitely underwhelmed. My mom ordered an Old Fashioned from the bar, wondering if our young waiter even knew what one was. He said sure ... but what he mixed up Mom declared not an Old Fashioned. I had the "Bronx" sandwich ... a pastrami reuben. It was generous enough ... I just expected more flavor from the sauerkraut and dressing. (Shouldn't there be some cheese in there somewhere? ) The french fries tasted like they came from a bag of frozen. The desserts in the refrigerator case looked spectacular but we didn't try any. They had one that looked like a little round cheesecake with a berry drizzle labeled "Napoleon" ... huh? ... not a Napoleon! I wanted an eclair but was afraid it might have been filled with whipped cream.

A favorite of ours. I recommend the fried mushrooms, philly cheese steak, french dip, and any of the pastrami sandwiches. Their desserts are pretty good, but I'm not a huge ganache fan (and they use a lot of it).

Ok the hype of roses in Sherwood BEFORE I went was all positive..... However my family was not at all impressed with the service, cost, or the food. It took half hour to be seated on a Friday night that was ok and understandable, but it took an additional twenty minutes to get our drinks(water), and then they did not come back for another ten to take our order. The kids fries were barely warm with their luke warm burgers, I ordered off the specials menu lox with penne Alfredo it literally came cold and when I let the waitress know she put it in the microwave... THE MICROWAVE! I let her know it was unacceptable she said sorry, no manager came over and no one credited the meal I did not eat. I went a second time just to be sure it was not just a bad night.... This was our second visit to Rose's Restaurant and Bakery at the intersection of 99w and Roy Rogers Road (actual address is 16015 S.W. Tualatin Sherwood Road, Sherwood, Or. AND I CAN ASSURE YOU IT WON'T BE OUR LAST. Our waitress Jennifer was efficient, polite, courteous,and had a smile the size of the Grand Canyon. As on our first visit, the food was unbelievable. My wife had a New Yorker Corned Beef Sandwich that three people could have eaten (she brought half home for lunch tomorrow), and I had a Comfort Food Dream...A bowl of Mac and Cheese topped with shredded fried Pastrami and loaded with diced pastrami all blended in a magnificent cheddar sauce. Macaroni cooked (al dente`) to perfection and flavor exploding with every mouthfull. This is one place (from what I have been led to understand....that is just a great as all the other Rose's in this area). If you love East Coast Style Deli, if you love good food, good service, and reasonable prices.....you have to go to Roses. Horrifying food! We hadn't been in for a couple of years & I thought the pot roast dinner sounded yummy. When it came it was scrap pieces of roast smothered in gravy with hard mashed potatoes & microwaved veggies. I stuck my fork in the mashed potatoes & it stood upright! They wouldn't even smoosh. The veggies were clearly out of a bag & microwaved - dry & shriveled. I sent it back & ordered a bagel with matzo ball soup. The matzo balls were literally gray. I asked, what is this on them? And the waitress tried to tell me it's just what they look like when they soak in the soup - um, no . . . Again, I stuck my spoon into one & it stood upright - they were old, hard & very likely would have given me food poisoning. Food shouldn't be gray! The MOST horrifying restaurant experience I've had in YEARS!! Please let's get this place shut down & let's just remember the Rose's of better years gone by!

We have been going to Rose's for years since moving here from L.A. Based on the service and food today, this will be our last time. The food has always been fresh and the place clean, so we are VERY disappointed. Two of us went today, a Saturday at around 2p. Our favorite waitress was there and greeted us. There were only a few tables with people and we were starved. One of us eats low carb and ordered one pound of pastrami, heated and some pickles and I ordered my favorite pastrami reuben. Well, 1/2 hour later no food and no sign of our server. I suggested we just up and leave but then relented and I figured I'd go to the counter at 40, yes 40 minutes in and see what happened to our server. Well....they brought out the pastrami, and in my life I have never seen pastrami that looked like this. It was awful! And this was someone other than our server who brought it. 10 minutes later, yes, another 10, my sandwich shows up with my original server. I asked if she was o.k and what happened and all she could do was apologize.....huh? Again, there were only about 4 tables with people! Well, my reuben had been sitting somewhere for awhile so the coleslaw had soaked the bread by now and the bread was wet and soggy......really? 15 minutes later (and yes, we kept track of the time) an even different person came over to ask how everything was. I told her to just charge me for the fries as I had been waiting 15 minutes to send back the reuben and the pastrami. We decided to get a box and take the pastrami home for our dog! And I did something I have NEVER done in my entire life. I didn't leave a tip. I am typically a very generous tipper and even tip in situations when most wouldn't. They just lost a customer. I have a job where I engage with all the new homeowners moving into Sherwood as well as all the local areas and I refer them to local businesses. After today and seeing how things have gone down hill in the last few months, they will no longer be referred by me when asked for a good local restaurant. Truly, this was the worst food/service I've experienced as long as I can remember! So disappointed!

Pork belly was fattier and had more gristle than anything I've ever eaten. And, the meat slices were coated in some gelatinous substance that made it impossible to chew. Dark forest cake resembled in no way what the menu described. It was fairly bland with whipping cream as the main focus.

Rose's: 1. The food can be pretty good. 2. The deserts are what make the place. My most recent trip here was for a quick dinner with the wife and one of our kids. The waitresses here are always very nice and quick to cover our needs. The slowness seems to stem from behind the counter (ie - the kitchen). I've had this happen here before where, it seems like it's not that busy but it takes too long to get your food. However, once the food arrives it's usually a pleasant experience. Last night I had the pastrami burger (picture has been uploaded). The burger itself was cooked well, but still moist and was piled with more than enough pastrami to make it a very filling meal. I have learned that they usually overdo it on the kraut (at least for my liking) so it's wise to get it on the side and add it as needed. I could have used a bit more dressing as it seemed light. Overall the sandwich was well prepared and tasted good. For desert it was German chocolate cake. The slices of cake are big, so it's easy to split this between 2 people (or in our case between us and a 4 year old). Moist, chocolaty goodness. Another one of my favorites are their eclairs. Overall, I generally have good experiences at this Rose's. Downside is it can be slow sometimes. I also prefer them for lunch and dinner as I find their breakfast selection to be small and have never been impressed with their breakfast home-style potatoes.

Sadly I have to downgrade my rating to a 1 star after today. We stopped by for lunch and I had been craving a Pastrami sammy so I paid the 12 bucks for their signature pastrami on rye. By the time it gets to you, the bread is already soggy and they use the not so famous restaurant trick of piling all the meat in the middle to make you think is is a HUGE sandwich and there is then only meat in the middle, I normally dis-assemble and cover all the bread and re-assemble. The Sauerkraut was abysmally bland, no taste whatsoever and the Thousand Island Dressing was also horribly bland, I had to dip in ranch dressing to get any taste at all. Hubby made the mistake of getting the fish and chips and they were gross. No way in hell they make these themselves although they advertise they do. They are straight out of a bag, little amount of fish lots of batter and they are all the same approximate size. Both our fries were ehhhh, barely lukewarm. The cole slaw was extremely forgettable. Back in the day 20 years ago or so they had damn good food, sadly that has gone downhill. I can now understand why they are closing all their locations. p.s. their desserts look good but are incredibly freaking expensive, go to New Seasons for a similar product for half the price, that's what i did on my way home!

Love it. The restaurant is cute and casual. The service was friendly, fast and efficient. Our family at there once for lunch and once for dinner. The meatloaf was a hit as were the fish and chips. I had a very good chicken salad I would highly recommend.

We had a craving for something sweet so we hopped in the car and headed to roses. Right when you walk in you are overwhelmed with the dessert choices and you want everything. I think they get this a lot because knew we just needed a minute to stand there and take it all in. Once we figured out what we wanted they sat us right down and the waitress was so nice. We each got big glasses of water to was the sugar down and were very happy. For great baked goods, come to Rose's!

Our experience was good but the menu has changed -- it's gone away from the Jewish deli concept it used to have, to more routine American food. They don't have potato pancakes on the menu anymore. The matzo ball had herbs in it and a darker color, different from the usual solid light colored ball of the past. I guess the changes made me a little sad. Our server, Aaron, on the other hand, was marvelous. It would be worth going there just to sit in his section. Very attentive and nice without being overbearing. That made it a happy dinner time. I would go back but I think they should put some of the unique items back on the menu -- those are what made it really special.

I went and saw Grandma Rose tonight :-) :-) Yes.... Going to Roses is a flash back to good ole Gramma's cooking. I remember going to the one that used to be on 102nd when I was a kid. It all started in 1956 when a gal named Rose Naftalin who moved to Portland from Ohio and opened a small restaurant on NW 23rd Avenue. Soon her Reuben's, matzo ball soup, desserts, specialty cakes and Rose's Original Giant Cinnamon Roll were super well known. Rose was well known as a great chef and cookbook author. She gained recognition across the nation as "Grandma Rose." There you have it! Upon entering this location I was greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was about 1/2 full. And I noticed that Gramma Roses has a lounge as well now.... odd for this kind of place. Actually weird! Gramma's probably spinning in her grave. The waitress came by about 4 minutes later and provided me with a menu and took my drink order. She was pleasant and helped answer the questions I had about the menu. So anyhow....I chose the Chicken Bacon Pasta from the extensive menu. It comes with a salad or soup and a couple thinly sliced/toasted bagel with a lil cheddar on them. I received my salad promptly and it consisted of romaine and iceberg lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives. It was fresh and good. It took awhile for the pasta to come but when it did it was piping hot and looked wonderful. The taste was spectacular... True comfort food. I wasn't so keen on the bagels chips... They were hard and dry. Yuck! I was however given a piece of garlic foccocia bread which was A ok. Now here's where the not so happy comes in. After I got my pasta I never saw my waitress again... Well at least at my table. She was visiting with people and having a great time. I finished and she still didn't show up with the check but she was still laughing and visiting with others. Usually a good waitress will come by and check how your food is, refill your drink and ask if you want dessert (especially in a place that features desserts). I got none of these! Finally after not seeing my waitress for about 35 minutes my impatience caught the eye of another waiter and they gave me my check. Too bad... Something that started so good, ended so wrong. 2015-68

One of my favorite places and the best Ruben sandwiches around. We went for lunch today and we were seated outside since the weather is amazing. We were immediately greeted by our waitress and our diet cokes were served very promptly. But that is where the good things stopped. After our waitress forgot about us, she admitted to it and apologized, we went to pay for our drinks which they did not make us pay for. We left today, but will go back as this is not our normal experience at this restaurant. But we are now a little more hesitant when choosing our options. I would say they were very apologetic, which is great customer service.

I was here recently for a late lunch with the MIL and our kiddo. A nice little family get-together. I've seen this place in passing and it's fairly close to the MIL. It's located in a strip mall. There is a dining area and a lounge. When you enter, there is large display of desserts. The cinnamon roll is HUGE. It looks like a loaf of bread and their french toast is a slice of this cinnamon roll. I thought the prices of the desserts were a little too much. I did go home with a cannoli and it was delicious but I didn't think it was worth the price I paid for it. The food was good. They serve breakfast until 2pm on the weekends and we were there just before then. Our waitress was very friendly and nice. It was quite busy. I ordered the Mexican Chorizo and Garlic Shrimp burger on a brioche bun with their potato salad. The burger was good. The chorizo is not overpowering and the shrimp was delicious. I thought the potato salad okay. It was a tad bit on the sweet side for me. Like sweet pickle sweet. The sweetheart ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger which also came on a brioche bun and you can substitute with a honey wheat or gluten-free bun for free. It was a heaping burger with thick-sliced bacon and he ended up eating it with fork and knife. The MIL ordered their pancakes and she seemed to have enjoyed it. Our kiddo ordered the french toast, the one with the slice of cinnamon roll. He liked it so much, he cleaned the plate. All in all, it was a good experience and I liked the food. I'd like to try their breakfast next time.

This place continues to flounder. It has gone through some more management changes and menu changes and still lacks anything "special". I may be jaded because I am old enough to remember the original Rose's and when they first brought back the brand several years ago it came back with all the tradition and flare of the original. It's had ownership and management change I don;t know how many times and it really just isn't anything special anymore. They have added so much to their menu that instead of doing a few things really well they do a bunch things just ok. Luckily for them Sherwood doesn't have a lot of other options, so people eat here for lack of other options. suspect that is why their other locations like Beaverton and closed. I hope they get it together because as Sherwood grows and more places open, they wont be able to sustain "just ok" for much longer.

The food was amazing. Beats out Sharis restaurant anytime of he day. The pricing for the food is fair for the amounts of food you get. Great customer service and an amazing atmosphere. My family and I have been here 3 to 4 times already and will definitely be back. This last time I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns cheddar cheese the best chicken fried steak. The time before that I had the breakfast burrito that was probably large enough for two people to share.

I've grown up in the area and loved Roses but lately they've become pretty mediocre. Their identity crisis is more and more obvious. They call themselves a bakery and deli but now it seems their trying to push their lounge now. The place is too dated and tired to be a real hot spot and as a 21 year old in the area roses is not ideal for a hangout or a drink. Not only is the "bakery" completely lacking in fresh baked goods, their sandwiches are boring and their ever changing menu is becoming more and more inedible. I really wish they'd focus on the basics that made them great: good food and good service. Not worth it right now.

I'm totally the Portland Girl who can't get over the loss of the NW location. But even I have to admit that the food is just as good here! Personally it's all about the giant cinnamon roll for me. Their pastries are delicious. The food is your standard American fare. Service is good, restaurant is always clean. But the cinnamon roll is what brings me back every time!

Have come in multiple times before, but tonight was a bad bad experience. Friendly and fast service and my starter salad were the saving graces, but I ordered the spaghetti and (stuffed?) meatballs, which intrigued me. What I received was a bowl of spaghetti driving in a watery flavorless tomato sauce with a insane portion of probably a pound of pate/cat food textured meatballs. Vile. Probably stuffed with a piece of a string cheese stick. The focaccia on the side was falling apart and was still the best part of the dish. I just could not deal with the disintegrating meatballs. They literally just melted away. Not good.

Rose Naftalin must be rolling over in her grave. The service is atrocious. Everyone is nice, but the system is terribly inefficient. Upon arrival toward the end of the lunch time frame with one other person, I was told that there might be a wait for a table. I looked around and saw numerous empty tables. We were seated after a short wait, but then it was a long time until a (friendly) waitress came along. The menu is overpriced and limited. The sandwich section mentions nothing about corned beef or pastrami as an option on a "regular" deli sandwich, while it trumpets them as part of a reuben only. Clearly, the management wants you to buy a $15 Reuben and not buy a more reasonably priced sandwich. There is also no section for "sides" on the menu. The children's menu was quite expensive --- $6.99 per item (I'm used to $4.50 or so). The food was thoroughly mediocre. More disturbingly, it took FOREVER to reach the table. After fighting my way through the menu, I ordered a cold pastrami sandwich with potato salad. How long does that take to throw together? I didn't order desserts, but noticed they were overpriced as well. Napoleons and cannoli here in little old Sherwood cost about twice what they cost in NYC! I will never come back.

Best food, especially dinners. I love their chicken parmisiana!! The seating is casual, and the waitstaff are very courteous and attentive. My FAVORITE part is the desserts. We always take some to go. They have the best cheesecakes, and kitkat specialty bars around!!

One of the best meals we had in Oregon! Yummy everything! We had a group of 10 and everyone loved their meal. The service was prompt and very friendly. Will definitely return when we come back to this area.

We were seated almost immediately upon entering, which was nice for a Saturday night. They were accommodating for the two young children in our party, which was also much appreciated. Our hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and attentive. The food cam out quickly, and was hot. I ordered the Philly cheese steak. Which was made perfectly. The meat seemed to be freshly cut, and it was cooked just right. My friend Darren ordered the pastrami dip, and he said that it was the best pastrami dip that he has ever had. My wife had the chicken and bacon Mac and cheese. It was the second best that she has ever had. We also appreciated the portions on the kids menus.

I was there the Saturday 5/23 around 10am-11am. I've been here a total of three times. I really wanted to love this place because I orderd a breakfast burrito to go before and it was awesome and the guy that took my order last time was awesome, but this review has to be 1 star because of our waitress for this second time that I actually went to go sit in. The redhead hostess was very accommodating, she was excellent. There there were no more booth seats in the dining area except in the bar. So, she offered the booths in the bar. Everything went downhill after that, our waitress didn't know anything about the menu and that toast came with the breakfast burrito and told me they have all kinds of breads but then said pumpernickel wasn't one they had, then she told us it was only her 2nd day working there, we let it slide. But her presence and demeanor seemed unfriendly and pushy, anyway we noticed that not only was her makeup caked on her face but there was a large gash with blood on the side of her lip, AND she was touching it the whole time, I watched her walk over to the order machines to put the order in and she was touching her bloody gash! GROSS! I mean that could be a hazard, right? Like you hear on the news people contracting hepatitis and we weren't going to risk it. We wanted to tell the manager but it would have been easier to not make a scene so we cancelled our order and left.

Just stopped in for a slice of cake. At $5.99 a slice I thought the portion would be adequate for the price. The portion was very small to my dismay. Even more troubling was that the cake had a refrigerated for a month taste such that my wife and I ate less than half of cake and threw the rest away. It would be questionable at a steak and shake at $1.99 a slice at 2 am.

The rueben sandwiches here are really good, although a little bit over priced, especially for lunch. The service was very good. The last time I was here I had the split pea soup which was sub par. It's close to work so i come here sometimes but would choose otherwise with more options for sit down lunch spots nearby.

I am a Portland native and have been to Roses in Portland many times. I have never been unhappy - just stuffed. I stopped in Sherwood for a rare treat these days for me - a french dip sandwich. It was very good - the meat could have been sliced a bit thinner. But I got something I didn't order. A severe case of food poisoning. Three days worth of misery. I sent an email to the manager who seemed not to believe me and sent me a gift card. That is one card I won't be using. Be careful.

Rose's = one hundred percent delicious. Whether you're going for the crazily tasty reuben sandwiches or the orangesicle, carrot, or other cakes, you're going to leave satisfied with a a feeling of awesomeness in your belly. I like to meet friends at Rose's and then catch a movie across the parking lot. Rose's is a great place to eat. I really don't think you can go wrong here.

Typical mid-range diner sort of fare. Nothing special here. What is sometimes called "family dining." The breakfasts are solid... nice breakfasts. They brag up on their "famous" Ruben. They taunted us with a neon sign proclaiming this for months and months before they opened. I love good Ruben. What a let-down. The famous Ruben? It's bland. So disappointing. The Burgers are typical. The fries are good. The deserts look oh so good in the display case, but they look better than they are. Enjoy looking at them, but don't bother ordering one.

I have visited this lovely stop a number of times, and almost every time I order off the happy hour menu. This place has one of the most varied happy hour menus in the area. Everything from fish tacos to sliders to chicken strips. All very cheap and good portions. The only dissapointment may be that you can not order any of the cured meats and sandwiches off of the happy hour menu that this place is famous for. The signature dish (for me and my friends) is the pastrami cheese fries. My goodness- heart stopping pleasure with some sourkrout and sauce drizzled on the fries to form the perfect combination of messy shareable cholesterol laden bites of goodness. The staff is friendly, sometimes they are a tad slow. The interior is roomy and clean, very suburban, the TV's are too small and only a couple of them, so don't come here if you plan on catching a game. I can't comment on the sandwiches as that's really not in my food repitore and bug that is really what the place is famous for. I have heard they are good. But if you want to get those fries and spend some time on the happy hour menu with friends, you will definitely like it.

Went here a few weekends ago for lunch. The rueben sandwiches are good and very large, I needed a go box for mine. Soup was also delicious. Didn't have any of their bakery items but it looks like it would be a great spot for breakfast as well. The staff was friendly and prompt. I will be back.

I was on my way to the wineries and I stopped at Rose's to get some fortifications, prior to imbibing. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, including a gi-normous cinnamon roll and eggs benedict. Our server was Leslie and she was amazing. She always filled our coffee and made us feel like we were special and the only ones in the place. The cinnamon roll needs to be shared by at least two people or more, and if you start with a cinnamon roll, you should also share your breakfast. Yum yum. We were stuffed when we left so we left all the delicious pastries for someone else to enjoy. I will definitely go back when on my morning run to drink some wine.

If Portland is missing one thing it's more NYC style deli's that serve pastrami, and classics like matzo ball soup and corned beef. When the rain set's me and my hubby like to warm up with a giant bowl of the matzo ball soup, because it's just perfect. I also love all the variety of sandwiches. I personally enjoy some coleslaw on my toasted pastrami on rye, and they are one of the few places that makes that sandwich without me having to special order it. Service can be slow and the last few times our order had been messed up slightly, but the waitress was apologetic and corrected the order so we where more than happy. If you happen to save room for dessert, by all means get the eclair!!! It's epic.

Rose's has some of the best French dip sandwiches I've had. They don't skimp on the meat which is tender and juicy, the rolls always are fresh and lightly toasted, and they melt cheese over the beef. And the Au Jus is tasty. My only complaints are that I always need to request a second cup of Au Jus because one is never enough. The included sides are potato salad, french fries, or fruit. It would be nice if they had a green salad option. Rose's also makes some of the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had at a restaurant, and they make it from scratch. Yum yum yum. The staff is always friendly and attentive. But be wary if you are on a diet - there is a HUGE selection of utterly tasty desserts made in house.

I was so in need of writing a good review after my last review/fiasco with a widely know company. So why not start with Rose's? I mean, how can one not love this place? It isn't fancy, it isn't trendy, it isn't all that original in it's concept or design, but dang, I must say, Rose's aims to please! I loved dinning at Rose's when they were located in the Streets of Tanasbourne in Hillsboro. I would make special trips there on occasions to pick up some FRESH baked treats for the family. Oh how yummy their sweets are! Then...it closed!!! Oh, the heartache! Now I have to drive all the way down to Sherwood to visit the closest Rose's. Luckily I have had the chance to do this a few times in the last year. Both times the food was great! But this last time, not only was the food great, the service was SPECTACULAR! I, for the very first time in my life, tried a Reuben Sandwich with all the fixings! Risking business!! But, hey, you only live once and I really wanted to know what it tasted like. Let me tell you! It was awesome! Awesome! Loved it! Our waitress was amazing! So kind, so friendly, so helpful. She provided the exact amount of service we required. Not too much, not too little, just the right amount. And she was quick. Our to-go boxes came fast, our bill came on time, I could go on and on. Honestly this gal was on my list of top 2 servers I have ever had in any establishment. The other server was in a high end steak house where meals started at around $50 a plate. Yeah, you better believe that guy was good, but this was just a middle age gal working in the local Rose's. Someone who obviously takes pride in their work and cares about their customers. Ma'am, I wish I could recall your name! You, dear, deserve some recognition for your hard work! And to add to my pleasure for the day, I saw that it was a veterans discount day....so just before the bill came, I whipped out my ID and BAM, FREE MEAL! What!? Needless to say, I tipped well and can't wait to go back!

If you love cake, go to Rose's Deli. If you love cheap as heck happy hour from 4pm to Close with some tasty eats in the bar, go to Rose's Deli. Did I mention the cake love? Go. Look. Order. Salivate. Eat. Enjoy. I ordered the Bailey's Triangle, and found that I simply couldn't finish it - it was enough tasty chocolate dessert to be enjoyed by two. The waitress described it as delicious, wonderful, and heavenly, and I'd say there isn't really anything to add. My date had a slice of the carrot cake, which was moist and tasty, and by the time they finished there was still enough for an entire dessert. As I said, if you like cake, get thee to Rose's Deli. Why are you still here? Get going!

Okay, my original review was in 2011 and last night (2/08/13) I ordered the exact same meal and got a totally different experience. I will lead off that the service my wife and I got in the lounge where they seated us was great. Courteous, friendly and attentive. Our iced teas were never empty and food was promptly served. Now, for the food. We ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer, the Deli Cobb Salad for my wife and 'The New Yorker' sandwich for me. The mushrooms could have been cooked a little longer. Soggy and not visually looking the way we have had them before. When we bit into our first ones we said the exact same thing to each other, "salty." We tried without the ranch they serve them with and they were still salty. My wife stopped, and I ate a few more. I can tolerate salty, plus I was real hungry. My sandwich came and it did not have as much meat as it normally comes with and it was a little dryer than normal. Flavor on the sandwich was good, just not as big as they have been. My wife's salad looked good, though halfway through it, she pulled a hair from the bottom of the salad bowl. Though, we are not blow up and freak out type, she was hungry and disregarded it as a 'stuff happens' moment. I love my wife. Anyways, it was later than than the usual time we eat and I almost wish we would have gone to Shari's. That should sum it up that this was a bad night for Rose's. Oh, and I used to remember getting a great pickle served with my sandwich... Last night... No pickle! I hope it's better the next time I go.

Being a deli / bakery, this is definitely a lunch eatery. However, I went for dinner. My monthly book club decided to meet here this month so I thought it would be a great excuse to try Rose's for the first time. Knowing it was a deli, I definitely wasn't expecting such a large facility. Upon entering, I immediately headed to the right since the bar area caught my eye. It was a Monday night, but the place was pretty dead. So this is definitely a lunch spot - but us dinner-goers benefit because Rose's offers a great happy hour from 4pm-close nightly. No joke! I promptly ordered a pint of beer since it also happened to be micro brew Monday where all draft pours are just $3! They also have other neat daily specials throughout the week. I was really starting to dig this place. I was excited to see mozzarella sticks on the menu so I ordered a serving ($5.95 for 8 average-sized sticks). Unfortunately these were just average tasting - didn't blow my socks off. But the waitress had them delivered to my spot just a few short minutes after ordering. So major points for super prompt service. I closed my tab at this point and relocated to a proper table and got ready / set up to meet my book club group. This was everyone's first time at Rose's so we took a few minutes pondering the great happy hour prices on the menu. We ordered a round of drinks and started with a huge pile of tater tots for $2.95. Since I had just scarfed down a bunch of mozzarella sticks, I decided to order a kids grilled cheese to keep things simple & small. Other orders at my table were all from the happy hour menu and were all more than large enough portions to count as entrees. We had the cranberry & walnut salad ($3.95), fish tacos ($3.95), and the BBQ pork blue chip nachos ($4.95). Everyone loved their food - especially for the very low price and amount served. This would definitely be a fun place to try at lunch and get one of their New York deli style sandwiches. But it will be hard to convince me to go for lunch when I know I love the 4pm-close happy hour menu so much. We will definitely be holding some future book club meetings at this spot!

I had such good memories of the Rose's on 23rd years back. My husband and I went hoping that this satellite location would be at least as good and maybe better? I ended up with a terrible stomach ache and sickness from the meal, which really bummed me out. Disclaimer: we ate there in 2007/8 I haven't really be up to be back since, but currently am on the hunt for a better than average birthday cake. Do I risk it? We'll see I guess...

Your eyes will pop when you walk through the door. A whole wall of desserts to satisfy everyone. The menu offers a wide selection too and the kids always something they want too. Some of our favs our the chicken strips, Mac and cheese, salads and cheeseburger. Service has always been good and the booths are Hugh so you can sir up to eight, don't find that often, so good for larger groups. Well worth the drive.

I was told by my date that we had to try Rose's Deli because they have amazing desserts. So over we went and OMG, he wasn't kidding. Their cakes are simply HUGE. Now I'm not a size queen, but wow these cakes are ridiculous. The first thing I saw was carrot cake, but that is my old standby, so I decided to try the napoleon for something outside of my norm. The waitress described it as heavenly, which made me all the more eager to try it. Sadly she came back with my partners dessert choice and told me they were all out of my choice. She made some suggestions and even dissuaded me from one, stating I would likely be disappointed (something I always greatly appreciate in a server). So I went back with my tried and true carrot cake. It was moist, delicious and did I mention HUGE! I could only eat half of it. The other half was taken to go and seriously, it was as if it was a whole piece of "normal" sized cake. Down sides: not having my first choice (which granted is not the end of the world) but then after giving them my alternative choice having to wait quite an extended period of time for them to cut a piece and bring it to me, all the while my partner is enjoying his dessert - 1/2 star, also the waitress did a bit of a disappearing act on us after that and we had to wait quite a while after we finished just to get the check and a box for my cake - 1/2 star

I expected to be bowled over by this place since it is assign offshoot of the famous Rose's in NW Portland ... but I was definitely underwhelmed. My mom ordered an Old Fashioned from the bar, wondering if our young waiter even knew what one was. He said sure ... but what he mixed up Mom declared not an Old Fashioned. I had the "Bronx" sandwich ... a pastrami reuben. It was generous enough ... I just expected more flavor from the sauerkraut and dressing. (Shouldn't there be some cheese in there somewhere? ) The french fries tasted like they came from a bag of frozen. The desserts in the refrigerator case looked spectacular but we didn't try any. They had one that looked like a little round cheesecake with a berry drizzle labeled "Napoleon" ... huh? ... not a Napoleon! I wanted an eclair but was afraid it might have been filled with whipped cream.

A favorite of ours. I recommend the fried mushrooms, philly cheese steak, french dip, and any of the pastrami sandwiches. Their desserts are pretty good, but I'm not a huge ganache fan (and they use a lot of it).

Ok the hype of roses in Sherwood BEFORE I went was all positive..... However my family was not at all impressed with the service, cost, or the food. It took half hour to be seated on a Friday night that was ok and understandable, but it took an additional twenty minutes to get our drinks(water), and then they did not come back for another ten to take our order. The kids fries were barely warm with their luke warm burgers, I ordered off the specials menu lox with penne Alfredo it literally came cold and when I let the waitress know she put it in the microwave... THE MICROWAVE! I let her know it was unacceptable she said sorry, no manager came over and no one credited the meal I did not eat. I went a second time just to be sure it was not just a bad night.... Just as bad! Don't waste your time

This was our second visit to Rose's Restaurant and Bakery at the intersection of 99w and Roy Rogers Road (actual address is 16015 S.W. Tualatin Sherwood Road, Sherwood, Or. AND I CAN ASSURE YOU IT WON'T BE OUR LAST. Our waitress Jennifer was efficient, polite, courteous,and had a smile the size of the Grand Canyon. As on our first visit, the food was unbelievable. My wife had a New Yorker Corned Beef Sandwich that three people could have eaten (she brought half home for lunch tomorrow), and I had a Comfort Food Dream...A bowl of Mac and Cheese topped with shredded fried Pastrami and loaded with diced pastrami all blended in a magnificent cheddar sauce. Macaroni cooked (al dente`) to perfection and flavor exploding with every mouthfull. This is one place (from what I have been led to understand....that is just a great as all the other Rose's in this area). If you love East Coast Style Deli, if you love good food, good service, and reasonable prices.....you have to go to Roses. Cheflev (Pennsylvania State Certified Exec Chef / Culinary Arts Teacher for almost forty years, now happily living in Oregon.
