We were looking for a spot to eat a nice meal at the bar and watch the Warriors basketball game. I had the salmon with polenta which was delicious. My husband had a perfectly seasoned meatloaf with mashed potatoes, of which he ate every bite. Our bartender/server named Tess was a delight. She had a drink special called a cucumber cooler that was so yummy!! We'll return to Harvey's the next time we visit Ashland. Loved it!!

Went here twice in one week, the food was so good. I had the shrimp with polenta, the tomato soup, the Mac and cheese and the baked bree. All delicious. Only drawback was the first time I came with friends, we had to ask to be moved to a different table because we were right under a cold air vent.

Harvey's Place is located in the space formally occupied by Chateulein. Judging by some other recent closures and new reopenings around town, Ashland seems to be in the middle of a generational hand-off as long time previous owners have opted to retire or otherwise move on. I never dined at Chateulein in its day, but I hope it wasn't as dark as I found Harvey's. It's rare when it take that much time for my eyes to adjust and that Gayle and I purposely sought out a table in the back room that had more light. We got here on the early side of pre-show, and had good seating options before the place filled up. We had a nice appetizer-centric meal here, which is what a theater week of occasional big meals will do for you. That included chicken wings, tots (!) and a generous crab salad. Service was also friendly, fast, and enjoyable.

There are so many restaurants to choose from in this cool little town in southern Oregon. We chose Harvey's, and had a lovely dinner. The atmosphere is quite nice with brick and dark wood. Beautiful lighting compliments the decor well. We were seated promptly and our waitress appeared soon after. She was knowledgeable and pleasant and took our orders. The wine choices by the glass were limited, but she recommended one that was very nice. The salmon was outstanding. We ate every bite and it was plenty for both of us. Since we were just passing through we will probably not get a chance to eat here again, but would sure love to.

Very nice restaurant. Excellent flavor. Had a glass of pinot noir and it was very smooth. Seafood linguine eggplant sandwich and Mac and cheese, truffle fries .. all recommended!!

Having lived in Ashland for over 20 years, I have sampled and enjoyed many burgers from our multitude of restaurants of both past and present. That said, I am hereby bestowing the title of "Best Burger in Ashland (according to me)" to Harvey's Place. It is an exceptionally savory and well-spiced burger with a homemade appeal. The ciabatta buns are fresh and tasty, and the truffle fries compliment the burger well. Though a little on the expensive side, you sometimes get what you pay for, and this is such an instance. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the incredible job they have done with the remodel, giving it a contemporary urban vibe, as opposed to the "haunted, dank, old train-car" motif of Chateaulin. Service and Bar are both great. If you want a delicious burger... Harvey's is the place.

Harvey's is a strange place. First off, they did a nice overhaul from when it used to be Chateulein. It now looks like every other place in Ashland with exposed bricks and a few strung filament bulbs, big wooden bar and hardwood floors. Sure, it's a design trend but at least it's classic and attractive. Mostly. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great... Very quick and friendly. The restaurant itself on a Saturday at 7 was dead and looked sad. It was dark inside now that the sun sets early again. Too dark. I think the filament bulbs should be hung over all the dining tables not just the ones in the windows. That would do wonders to warm this place up. The place just has no heart, no personality. Who is Harvey? What is this place's point of view? Hard to say. It's all oddly muffled and stilted in here. So we ordered spicy tots and a balsamic salad. The tots were the frozen deep fried kind that they then deep fried again in hot sauce. OK so deep frying something in sauce does not mean you can taste the sauce anymore. Often times flavors get lost during frying which is why most places toss the sauce on fried stuff post-frying. This is what needs to happen with these supposedly spicy tots... They had no flavor except grease and from the fry sauce served with it. This is a big bomb. The salad, as other reviewers have noted, had lovely presentation with the dressing decorating the edges of the plate but the salad comes undressed. I prefer predressed with extra drawn on the plate. Also, the apple wasn't ripe. It was just OK but I will say the price was decent for what you get. My husband and I agreed we have no interest in checking this place out further. Just a weird vibe with all the energy missing and mediocre food. We would return for a beer though, just not the food.

We stopped in on an extremely HOT day and wanted an air conditioned restaurant with a lot of water/iced tea to go with our lunch. We got everything we asked for and then some. Great service, kept our drinks filled and the food was great. We had a great light lunch - Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail and tater tots! All delicious. Do try!

A really nice spot. We started with the ribs appetizer, which was phenomenal, and I had a great New York steak with blue cheese butter and tater tots. I had two different wines by the glass, both of which were really tasty. Professional wait staff, quick service, and a fun and comfortable atmosphere.

We've been making our yearly week long trek to Ashland for the last five or six years. Last night we were part of the evening stampede of theater goers who crowd the restaurants between 5:30 and 7:45 and then all pour out into the streets dashing off to our respective shows. This was our first time at Harvey's and we'd arrived a bit late such that if the service lagged we'd have been pressed to get to the theater on time. On all accounts our experience was stellar. Service was attentive without our feeling rushed. The food was fantastic. Among the four of us we had the baked Brie appetizer, pork chop, crab salad, hamburger, and the meatloaf. My pork chop was cooked perfectly. We were all quite pleased with our meal.

We would go back for the amazing Bree appetizer but probably not for dinner. The bree was fabulous and done with just the right mixture of add ins. However the chicken caprese was weakened by the polenta and the croque monsieur was nothing fabulous. I still gave 4 stars and would recommend because of the appetizer and the very attentive staff. It may also have been an off night.

We have been here twice now and the food is really solid. My husband and I were there on Thursday watching the football game. Chloe, the bartender, is awesome! Great service :) I had the prawns and polenta and the wedge salad. Both were really good. Wine selection is good, too. My husband had the burger and tots. He really liked the pretzel bun. The place is rather dark, it could use some more plants or something to lighten it up a bit. Also, a TV above the liquor bottles would be really helpful so you don't have to stare into the corner.

Service was okay the night we went. Menu looks better than it is, though. Poor execution, generally. Cocktails are particularly week: warm ingredients dumped into cold mixers, and served warm. Or warm ingredients poured over so much watery ice that the thing was tasteless. Horrible.

Wandered in hungry after a play and found the perfect meal. Lovely comfort food on a chilly night, great service. Ended with the recommended carrot cake which was precisely as billed ... the very best carrot cake I've ever tasted!

Walked in during the opening week but had to leave. The noise level was so obnoxious that even after changing table three times could not find a spot in the room where we could hear each other over the din. The room is all wood and brick, nothing to buffer the sound. A few well placed fabric panels in the ceiling and on the walls would have done the trick and perhaps they'll get the hint.

Three of us had a pretty good meal here - a caesar, linguini and clams, ribs, and salmon. All pretty good. The service was good, and got us in and out in time for us to make our 8 PM show. However ... I found a rock in my linguini. Since I was picking clams out of the dish, I found it, and it wasn't that big of a deal, but something like that shouldn't happen in a restaurant of this quality. Ever. Finding a rock in one's food takes the review down from 3.5 stars to two.

Harvey's is a nice addition to Ashland, and certainly an improvement over the very tired French restaurant that used to sit in that location. The steak and the pork chop were both kinda small, but not objectionably so. They both tasted great, though in each case I would ask for the sauce on the side next time. The burger on a pretzel bun was really very good. Harvey's is a nice, big space, they have several TVs and a full bar. It's a good place to stop before or after a play.

The ambience is very nice but the menu needs some work. The menu consists of a couple appetizers, salads, and Panini's. What about actual meals in the $15-$20 price range? That said, they were very accommodating when I wanted to create my own dish. For example, I added chicken and lettuce to the caprese salad. The tomatoes were local heirlooms and the chicken was nicely done. Delicious but a bit small. The presentation was exceptional!

I had the burger and my mother-in-law had the steak. The burger was very good and was a rather decent size. The steak was tasty too, but the portion size was small. Compared to other places in town, the quality of food to price is excellent. As for portion to price, it was small. The desert menu needs work. I will visit this place again. 4 stars right now only because the service was a tad slow. I think it's due to the place just opening. Also, I am unsure what setting the place is going for. There were flat screen TVs but none were turned on and the walls were pretty bare with no decor.

I was excited to try Harvey's when it opened a few months ago. We were really pleased with the ribs appetizer the first time. The second time much less so. I've been there mostly for pre-Shakespeare drinks and appetizers. The first time we had the prawns and polenta we were amazed at how great it was. Last night it was awful! Three or four tiny shrimp over a mashed pile of polenta and smothered in an orange sauce. The inconsistency in their food is bewildering. You never know what you're going to get. It's a nice location and very good service but for a $13 appetizer, it would be nice to actually get something good.

I really love what has been done with the remodel at Harvey's it truly looks great, all the hard work shows. Drinks were great and a nice selection of beer on tap. But when it comes down to it the food did not deliver at all.(w/ exception of oyster shooter) The portions were small and overpriced, I'm not looking for grotesque Olive Garden portions but for the price tag there should have been more. That being said we won't be back to eat until they do a menu revamp. Service staff was great though 5 stars to them.

For revitalizing where Chateulin's used to be, it's certainly swanky enough to be considered an Ashland eatery, with a nice spacey layout & begging for a real crowd to show up. It was kinda fun to get a seat in the window & people watch. Though a little dark for my taste, it stayed surprisingly cozy- & the smooth jazz helped in that department. I ordered from their 'smackerals' list- very much a smaller/lighter fare list that, when combined, turned into a pretty good meal all on its own. The smackerals I got included their applewood mac & cheese- which as a classically-baked vessel of macaroni & cheese with nice large chunks of applewood-smoked bacon, creamed spinach- I appreciated that it wasn't topped with nutmeg (just personally don't care for that flavor), rosemary polenta- turned out rich & creamy like a wonderfully savory porridge, & pot au creme for dessert- a wonderfully rich chocolate mousse-y snifter of heaven in your mouth. Overall, with tax & tip, the night came to around $32 & I'd gladly recommend this place as an evening/late night hang out.

Great place for a bite either before or after a play. I agree that the menu is a little short (isn't that a trend now-a-days, to have fewer items?) and it's a little pricey, but this is Ashland after all. Everything that we had was very good and Harvey's has a nice wine list, beers on tap and they make killer martinis. Good and friendly service. Decor is nice; as others have mentioned, brick and wood. We much prefer this place over Chateulein, which was rather stuffy.

Good looking remodel, really looks like you are going to get a good meal. We had great service, but the food did not live up to the look. I had the pork chop and "seasonal vegetables" The chop was way too salty and the vegetable was corn on the cob. I call that a starch. My friend had the steak, which she said was just ok. From the time we arrived, we had our bill and were ready to leave 45" later. Some may call that a plus when you are going to the theater and are in a hurry, but I felt rushed out. What is interesting is that the couple 2 tables over, felt the need to tell the couple just arriving between us, not to order the 2 specials, the fish and the steak. I chimed in not to get the chop. I did hear later that the ribs are good. So if you are in a rush...

Decent drinks, the appetizers were fine. That's all we were there for... I think we got Sriracha tater tots (just fine), and boneless wings (juicy, tasty). I got a oyster shooter (great!). I'm not sure how dinner is, but we sat at the bar and were served quickly. Rapha (sp?) was congenial and quick, no disappointments.

I was with 2 friends on Dec 27, 2014. The place looks nice, but the "wood and brick" look is very much like every other restaurant in Ashland. My friends thought their items were tasty. Mine was bad. I had the salmon served with winter vegetables and rosemary polenta. the "winter vegetables" were comprised of a spoonful of julienned zucchini and yellow squash that were overcooked and bland. The rosemary polenta was good and creamy, but seemed to harden up quickly. The salmon was salty and horribly overcooked. I would have loved to send back, but the server never checked back with us about the food. She did manage to notice that my friend, who had ordered a burger with no bun and a side salad instead of fries had been served a burger with a bun and fries, which she took care of promptly. But we never saw her after that, and she never made eye contact with any of us. When my friends were finished with their meals, she noticed and asked if I wanted the salmon and polenta boxed up. I politely told her that I didn't want to take it home because it was way overcooked and inedible. I also pointed out that, had she checked back with us, I might have had the opportunity to send it back to be remade, but at that point it was too late to do that. When she delivered the bill, she told me (as if it was amazingly generous) that she had comped my drink. I asked if she had talked to the manager about the issue, and she said that all she could do was comp the drink, since the manager would have gladly remade the entire for me. I pointed out that he didn't have an opportunity to do that because of HER inattention, which she all but shrugged off. Most restaurants that charge these prices for food would have had a manager at the table in a minute, but I have to assume that this manager didn't care enough about these service and quality issues. I go to Ashland once or twice a year, and I will never eat at or recommend Harvey's place because of this experience. Poorly prepared food, careless wait staff and a bland decor/ambience, and the food is not cheap. I paid over $30 for my mostly-uneaten entree and a mac and cheese (which was, on a scale of 1-5, about a 2.5). I can't recommend this restaurant.

Four of us came here to try out one of the newest restaurants in town. We all loved the updates to the inside. Some people have said its too loud, I would disagree. We came at 6pm on Friday and could easily have a nice conversation. We all ordered drinks which were delicious. The service was excellent. I had the steak frites which was great and the portion was fair considering the reasonable price. Can't wait to go back.

Well it looks fabulous! Now if only the kitchen paid half as much detail to the food as they did on the looks of the place... We shared the ribs and the eggplant sandwich - both were so-so at best. The server and the host came up and asked the same question - "It's good?" - as if the proper response would be to nod and say yes. I couldn't... I really hope someone steps it up because I won't be back until they do...

We loved this restaurant. We are fairly easy to please people, and don't demand anything other than good food and courteous service. Harvey's far surpassed that expectation. We arrived late in the evening on Valentine's Day with no reservations, and they only had to ask us to wait a few minutes before they found a table for us. The service was perfect, the atmosphere intimate, and the food was to die for. I had the chicken picatta, and never before have I had polenta that I would rave about, but the rosemary polenta was exquisite! We wanted baked brie as an appetizer, but they had run out so we had the artichoke dip and some oyster shooters which were fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat. There are so many places to choose from in Ashland and I'm so glad we chose Harvey's!

Harvey's Place brings a wonderful new feel to downtown Ashland. It has brought a youthful and modern energetic feel to the other eclectic selection of near by restaurants. The food and drinks have been impressive for every visit.

Too loud for a conversation. Too dark ambience and young inexperienced staff-gave a lot of incorrect information about beer, e.g., Elysian is from Oregon...... The burger was greasy and below average. Beer selection was typical northwest, nothing unique. Mostly the atmosphere made for an uncomfortable dining experience.

We sat in the window and waited for 20 minutes to get water. The noise level was obnoxious and had to talk loud sitting right next to my date. We shared an egglplant sandwich that was served on greasy buttered toast, tasted like your run of the mill "killer bread" with ONE SUPER thin slice of panko fried eggplant with a few thinly sliced onions. I could make this sandwich at home.... The salad was drizzled with balsalmic vinegar on the plate. My date shared his salad with me and it had no dressing on it.... we realized all the dressing was just thick and drizzled on the plate. Our bill was $25-30 and we didn't even drink anything but water. The service and menu needs a serious revamping... "D" for disappointment. Did I mention my date went out for pizza afterwards....

Stopped in for a bite before a concert last night. Sat at the bar so we could watch the World Series. We each had their soup of the day with a side salad. Soup - corn chowder - was excellent. Great corn flavor with nice spicing backing it up. Side salad was a hint tired, but the dressing - blue cheese - was some of the best we've ever had in the US. Had a nice selection of draft beers although a beer list would have been much nicer than having our very good bar/wait person recite them. Overall, a very enjoyable light meal.
