Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

People always ask me for "the best" _____. Tacos, pizza, steaks, burgers, Korean food, pho, etc. When they want to know where I go for Mexican food, I tell them Birrieria Diaz. There are lots of great Mexican places in OKC. Something for every taste. But the one that's always on my mind is Diaz. I suggest you try the Tacos Diaz ($6.99). Inside your choice of flour or corn tortillas, you will find steak, ham and bacon in the same taco. Not "steak, ham or bacon." This isn't amateur hour. No, that's a very important "and" -- one that comes with melting mozzarella cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes -- that you should treat with equal parts respect and gnawing hunger. Is there a chance you will die young if you eat this? Yes. But a better question is, Will your life even be worth living if you don't eat it? Also yes. These aren't three magic tacos filled with solutions for the endless string of mistakes you call a life. But they are very tasty. You might be putting way too much pressure on tacos. Located in Bethany, Birrieria Diaz is probably best known for its birria -- a spicy mix of broth and meat -- and rightly so. Birria (small for $6, medium for $8, large for $10) is a feast for the mouth and the eyes. It's bright red with tender, braised beef or lamb, and it comes with so many fixings on the side that your table will be covered in a rainbow of flavors. You should get the birria. You will get the birria. But you might also get some other stuff. That said, I was very taken with the posole verde ($6.99), which did the unthinkable -- got me to eat hominy. As much as I love grits, hominy has never held any appeal for me. It's watery, the texture is weird and the flavor is off. Yet the posole at Birrieria Diaz has tons of hominy in it, and it was addictively delicious. It's a pork and hominy stew, which is filling and satisfying, but it has the mild sweetness of avocado and the zing of tomatillo sauce. If you're lucky enough to stop in for breakfast (or if you like breakfast any time of day), check out the huevos rancheros or the spicy eggs ($7 each). Just be sure to ask for your eggs over-easy, because over-medium eggs are going to keep cooking on the plate and nobody wants a cooked-through yolk. Nobody. A bit more subdued is the Enchiladas Mexicanas ($6.99), which are filled with cheese and onions and covered in red sauce. Add a little kick with the homemade salsa or hot sauce, and give the fried potatoes on the side a shake of salt. But you should get the Tacos Diaz. They're too good.

Authentic and delicious. I had sopes, which were wonderful, and a beef taco, which was ordinary until they garnished with grilled peppers & onions. Lots of yummy side sauces. First visit was today and already it's one of my favorites.

This place is a hidden gem. The pozole Verde is legit! Taste almost like mom's. I will return with friends and family

So I heard from a little bird somewhere that this place had Pazole. That would be a large bowl of soup with hominy pork meat and avocado (pazole verde) hmm...I'm down. I went in to this little place which is tucked nicely into the strip at NW 39th & College (next to Pappa Angelos, my FAVORITE pizza place in town) and I noticed something very quickly...I was the lone gringo in the joint. I strolled in, got a table and glanced over the menu...knowing full well I was there for the very dish that lured me here and then something happened. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. It all looked and sounded so good. I tried to stay on task and block the other things out of mind and focus on the pazole. I munched on chips and delicious salsa, a dab of queso here and there and finale had to order 3 different things off the menu, one to eat and the other 2 to take home. The pazole was delicious! So was the birra...so were the tacos Diaz. My only recommendation is take friends so you can share off each others plates. I'm definitely going back until I have tried the other 8 things I couldn't decide on or fit in my belly that day!

Authentic food from Calvillo, Augascaliente, Mexico. The birra is their specialty and it is outstanding! The tacos are authentic and prepared as ordered. The food is always hot and the service is very good. I have come to believe this is the single best authentic Mexican food establishment in the Oklahoma City metro area. If you haven't tried it you're missing out.

The best birria on town, like I said just the best on Birria

Uninformed waitstaff. Old, cold, greasy chips but GREAT salsa. (The queso tastes more like the can it came in than anything relating to dairy). Nice touch is bringing crema agria along with salsas. Enchiladas with queso fresco and red refined beans reminded me of my Central American upbringing. The best way I can describe their papas is butter with a layer of chili powder with a layer of oil. I don't need to repeat this mas o menos dining experience.

WHY IS THIS PLACE NOT A TOP 10 RESTAURANT IN OKC???????? This place EASILY tops any of those weak "tex-mex" places out there. This is one of the best mexican places I have been to. Every single thing you order here is amazing and authentic. Even the free salsa and chips are soooo good!! We've had the enchiladas, menudo, tamales, tacos and are ALL solid. This place should have thousands of 5star reviews! Come on yelp of OKC! Get over here!

I really like this place. I am a big fan of our local taquerias. This is authentic Mexican food. The gorditas and tacos are delicious. The place is a no frills type of atmosphere, but the food speaks for itself. My family each have their favorite item to eat. My daughter likes the quesadilla. My wife loves the gorditas and sopes. My son likes the nachos and I like the tacos as well as the birria. Give this place a try if you are in the area and like authentic style Mexican food.

Food is really good...almost authentic Mexican food. By almost I mean you can only get real Mexican food in Mexico. Their tacos, tortas, sopes, and enchiladas are the best. Green SALSA!!! Prices are also not to high...affordable Deserts like the tres leches cake, chocolate cake and guava cake are delicious. La comida es deliciosa. Los tacos, las tortas, los sopes, las enchiladas estas riquÃsimas. Los precios no son nada malos. El pastel de tres leches, chocolate, o de guaya son de lo mejor.

Absololutely delicious food! The lamb birria (sp?) was wonderful. The salsa is excellent. Add some salsa and the chili oil to the queso, for an awesome dip. I will be back!

I'm a big fan of all the local taquerias and authentic Mexican food eateries in OKC, and Birrieria Diaz is no different. I had three different tamales: chicken, pork and beef. They were all good but I liked the chicken the least. My coworker introduced me to this place and it's great for the area and the price. I can't say I'd go out of my way to come here because I didn't find it all that unique from other taquerias that are closer to my house, but you won't be disappointed here! The service was very good also.

We managed to stay away for two days. Great experience the second time around too. Enchiladas, green sauce, incredible. Something I noticed the second round, no TV. Thank you! Five visits in and still huge fans!

We drive in from 20 miles away to hit this place up whenever possible. This is the most authentic Mexican we have found in the entire metro OKC area. FANTASTIC! Tacos diaz are great, also the beef birriera, burritos, camarones diabla, and really everything else we have tried. Part of me does not want to post this out of complete greed because I would like to keep it a secret and make sure we always have a table when we show up. Also, did I mention that we have never had a check (for 2) over $20? Crazy cheap, crazy good, crazy to miss this place if you love authentic food.

I have wanted to try this place after passing it a few times and saw it was busy. My wife and I wanted Mexican food so we stopped in today. As soon as we walked in you could see they were not very busy it was about 2:30 PM. The floor needed to be swept it was awful not a good sign! The chips and salsa were really good but that was about it? I guess it's authentic Mexican but it was very greasy and the beans tasted like pure lard. My wife had to get the kids enchilada plate because we didn't know what a lot of the items were.
