I really think this needs to be evaluated from the angle of it being in Tiffin, OH. If I didn't, the rating wouldn't be as high, but it's the best pizza I've had in that city hands down. I would definitely go again, if in the area. The pizza bar was full and the service was decent. There were enough pizzas to have a choice. They even tried to do a Chicago deep dish, although the crust was more like East of Chicago's. It was still good though. That's all I could ask for in Tiffin. The locals were a little leery of it, though. ::Small talk at the pizza bar:: Middle-aged local: "What's that?" Me: "That appears to be a Chicago-style deep dish. Oh, and they even put the sauce on the top! That's cool." Middle-aged local: "Well, this here's a Tiffin pizza!" (Pointing to the regular crust pizza with pepperoni) Me: "Sure...?" Middle-aged local: "I'm gonna have me a slice of that!" That conversation STILL cracks me up. XD

Visited Fort Ball Pizza last Wednesday. My son is attending Heidelberg University this fall and we are on the hunt for good places to eat in Tiffin. We arrived at 4:00 p.m., and there was only one other table of people dining at this early hour. We order the 20" cheese pizza hoping, fingers crossed, that this pizza would be awesome and I would have lots of leftovers for lunch. The pizza comes out pretty quickly and is barely average. We ate it due to overwhelming hunger, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Liked the texture of the crust, but did not care for the flavor. Cheese was average and sauce was not very good. The Pizza did not heat up well at all. I actually threw the rest of the pizza away and I'm not sure if I've ever thrown pizza away. The other food may be very good there and I would definitely be willing to try some other options, but I wouldn't try the pizza again. Positive notes: the inside was clean and the waitresses were AWESOME - very personable.

I use to come to Ft. Ball quite frequently when I lived in Tiffin. Hadn't been there in a couple of years, so I decided to check it out one Sat. afternoon. It was a little disappointing. They still have the huge ravioli, which I've always liked. I was disappointed that they no longer have eggs in the salad bar, and the pizzas they had out I didn't care for.

Ok, Smorgasbord is in the name ... That's all that needs said. Their buffet is great, the right combination of artery clogging deliciousness and a smattering of vegetables for salad. Their blt subs and pizza are great!!! Always our faves.

I have had their pizza 10's, if not hundreds of times (even worked there for a minute), and will never tire of their food. Their pizza is not too thin, not too thick, and the home made sauce has a nice combination of sweetness and spiciness from the Italian seasonings. They also have fantastic subs on fresh made bread, great pastas in huge portions, and the best Italian Smorgasbord around.

Stop anytime I am in town. Lunch and dinner buffet is cheap and has an incredible amount of food. Beer and all-you-can eat pizza/pasta/salad. What else do you want?

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
