Stopped here with the family after a Port Clinton getaway. It was awesome. GREAT food, fun atmosphere. The boneless wings I got with garlic parmesan and blue cheese was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I would drive back just for that. The burger I got was huge and I could only eat half. The long island I ordered was strong to say the least but maybe you need that after a day of coasters at Cedar Point. I would say that this will be a new place I will always come to when I'm out that way. Extremely satisfied.

After a day at Cedar Point we needed to relax and drink some beer. This place is kinda fun. They have a lot of crazy drinks and offer funny souvenir glasses (a leg with fish net stockings! a playable electric guitar!) The food was really good and and the staff friendly. They have every type of lottery avail to play and a horse race booking parlor.

What a fun place with great food. The wait staff was slammed due to a long rainstorm that brought everyone in from Cedar Point but they were patient and good humored the whole time - and the food was still great!

Stopped in to watch the Cubs game while I was in Sandusky and had a fantastic time. Great atmosphere with Keno, Scratch off lotto tickets, and off track betting. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great! Highly recommended spot!

Bar tenders were amazing as for the rest of the staff rude we had one drink and decided to leave before our food came

A bit flashy and touristy which isn't surprising given that it's connected to a hotel and on the Cedar Point Causeway. Although the food is a bit overpriced and the service is spotty you can get a decent meal, especially during late-night hours. Love their sweet potato fries and pizza w/ no cheese.

We came in late after coming back from Cedar Point, and this was a great place. Easy seating, friendly staff, and big big beers! The ambience was great, with plenty of TVs, food, fun signs all around, and overall a great place to go. Even if you want to play keno, you can! This is connected to the cedar lanes bowling alley and the Quality Inn and Suites, so it really can be a "one stop shop".

You'd expect the places by a major theme park to be lame, but the Thirsty Pony is anything but lame. They have decent drink specials/selections and their food is surprising. Don't believe me? Try their four-cheese grilled cheese. It's excellent!

I love this place! The food is good & affordable - I recommend the pizza & burgers. Last time I was there, pizza toppings were unlimited! They have 120 oz. beer towers (that were $25 the last time I was there) and they rule. Every time I've eaten there, I've gotten a coupon for a free game of bowling at the alley attached to it. They also have off-track horse betting & keno in the restaurant! Service has always been excellent when I go there. It's very close to Cedar Point (less than a 5 minute drive). There's also a Quality Inn attached to it, which is perfect if you have too much to drink!

Ummmm.. Nothing special by no means! While in Sandusky on business the president of the school we were visiting recommended we go there for steaks... in which we did! The special that Tuesday night was 10.99 16 oz steak! Yes.... yu read what I typed correctly.. $10.99 for a 16oz steak and it accompanied two side dishes. I'm always leery of super cheap eats (i.e. Taco bell, Micky D's, Ihop) but we didn't know it was THAT kind of place when it was recommended to us. We all "liked" our steaks but it was nothing special about the piece of meat at all. I added sauteed onions and mushrooms on mine... totally could have done without. Usually when you add sauteed onions and mushroom on meat they the vegetables are actually sauteed like with seasonings and spices and such.. not here... taste like they just cut the mushrooms and onions up and fried them. We also shared the shrimp trio appetizer. Now that was disgusting.... everyone took one bite of their shrimp and kinda let it get cold on their plates. They were so greasy and the shrimp were almost as long as a corn dog O_O

Overall I would say this is a cool place to go but if your just out to have a few drinks, this is NOT the place to go unless you have a CRAPTON of money! $10 for a peach martini is way to much, they are not that high even on the islands.

We stopped in on a whim before meeting friends at Cedar Point. We were drawn in by their advertised walleye and perch. We both had the fried perch some potato skins. The fish was perfectly fried (lightly battered and crisp, but flaky and juicy inside.) The skins were huge and nicely done. Portions and value were average. Service was average. Atmosphere was a mix between a local Vegas bar and bowling alley (there is one next door.) They have all of the Ohio lottery games and OTB for horse racing. While it's nothing to brag about I'd return if in the area.

The pizza here is far better than all logic and reason would dictate, and the service is super friendly. In spite of the fact that there's a fucking HORN that you're supposed to honk to summon waitstaff. This place reminds me of Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag. I didn't want to like it here, in that "guess this is the only thing open at 11:30 on a Sunday night" isn't the best reason to go to a restaurant, but... fried pickles. There was a giant hunk of meat on the floor under our table, and I thought that was hilarious. Possibly because I was delirious with hunger. Because in retrospect, that's actually kind of gross. Hooray.

I don't really frequent this place much in the summer. It's attached to a Cedar Point hotel and can get pretty crazy. But I fell in love with it this past winter. Yes, the food can be pricey but they run winter specials for the locals that make the food quite reasonable. Wednesday burger nights became a sort of tradition there for a minute. Fun atmosphere, can get crowded but there's enough corners to get lost in. And I've never had a problem with the service. Contrary, I've found all the staff quite interesting and helpful.

This place is unabashedly kitschy, and I love it. Plus, it's next to the best amusement park on earth, which is a huge +++. My family of four loves the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the location, and the hours. One thing I do not like are the huge souvenir glasses many concoctions come standard in, BUT all you have to do is ask, and they'll make your libation of choice in a less obnoxious container (although, we did give in and get the guitar glass for one of our kiddos once, and were contemplating the new 'A Christmas Story' styled leg glass). Now, for some recommendations: FOOD: Frickers Wings - these are the biggest, meatiest chicken wings we have ever had! They have a wide array of sauces to suit any palate, but the Teriyaki and Parmesan Garlic are our family's favorites. Pizza - very good, and we especially like to get the personal sized deep-dish pies which come with 5 of those yummy wings. Mozzaluna - really yummy fried cheese; get the sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy Potato skins - the best I've ever had. They cut whole, fresh potatoes in half horizontally, and just load them up with delicious Spinach Dip - creamy, plentiful, and it comes in a yummy homemade bread bowl along with chips Burgers - delicious, many topping/style choices, and homemade buns Seafood - their mussels, perch and lobster bisque are good, but probably not my favorite in the area DRINKS: Beer - I don't drink beer myself, but my husband is a beer snob, and he's more than pleased with the vast draft selection and unique microbrews Cocktails - my favorite is the Twisted Pony, but let me just say, their bartenders are all fantastic and can make anything to your liking. They make a great white gummi bear shot also, which is a local favorite. FUN: Here's one of the greatest things about this place: there's fun for grown-ups AND kids! My hubby and I will sit and bet on horses, play Keno and other lottery games while shooting the breeze with the locals and bartenders while the kids meander down the hall to Lucky's where they can bowl and play video games. There's also a water park where you can buy relatively inexpensive day passes. The one main criticism I have for this place is the hotel accommodations. We've tried staying at the adjoining Quality Inn several times, simply because we enjoy the Thirsty Pony so much, but we sadly have given up on that pursuit. There's no way around it: the hotel is a bit of a dump. I will say, however, that it's not any worse than many of the other options in the area. Sandusky is a seasonal resort town, so many of the hotels/motels are only open for a portion of the year, and it shows. Not a terrible tradeoff for staying close to the best theme park on earth, but keep your standards and expectations low looking for a room, and just don't plan to spend a lot of time in it. DO plan to spend a lot of time at the Thirsty Pony though!

I went here with a group of six kids to go bowling, play laser tag, and use the Arcade. Bowling was great. Laser tag was fun the kids enjoyed it. I made the mistake good going into the arcade area. Don't recommend putting a lot of money in the prepaid cards. Many of the games don't work and there is no refund from them.

This place is really about 2.5 but since that isn't an option 2 it is. We stopped here after a long day at Cedar Point. It was one of the few places still open at 11pm. We started off with 10 wings which were supposed to come with blue cheese and celery. We had to ask for the blue cheese which we finally got when almost done eating our wings. The celery made no appearance ever. 3 of us shared the bbq pork sandwich with mac and cheese on top, grilled Reuben and a large margarita pizza. The winner here was the pizza. It was still just okay for me. But the others enjoyed it. The pork sandwich really had potential however what was learned in Sandusky is that all of the rolls and bread suck. My roll was like a Wonder bread roll and split in half when i picked it up. Our cheese steaks in the park earlier where also like Wonder bread and super soggy. Apparently they don't know a good roll here in Sandusky. The Reuben also had potential if it had bee grilled and not toasted on what again was dry bread. Would only come back here if everything else was closed in town which was the case last night.

I stayed with my family at the Quality Inn that is connected to this place this week. The bartenders were great and made some great drinks for us. We ate here twice during our stay. Both times the food was excellent. Emily was our server on Wednesday night. If she doesn't get the best shifts she should. She was an incredibly nice waitress. She was very attentive and we never had to ask for refills on our beverages. If we ever come back to Sandusky we will stop here again.

It was lively and what I would expect being so close to an amusement park. The prices were reasonable and the food was good. Lots of adult beverages to choose from but still kid friendly with a bowling alley and arcade attached. Lots of bar space and an out door bar too. The only down side was waiting to be seated after my text was received.

We were in Cleveland on vacation and came up to Cedar Point for 2 days of our stay. When we got into town, it was too early to check in our hotel, so we looked for a pace to eat. This place stood out... just looked like a lot of fun, looks like it is connected to the hotel.... Our server was great... he had great recommondations( we had wings and some kind of flat bread pizza ) and we ate until we were stuffed. It has an outdoor patio or you can eat indoors. I did notice that you can go watch horse racing and bet... or you can play keno from your table .... I think I have been here before this, a long time ago with my family... I remember liking it then, and I liked it now. Will surely be back again. Good for all :)

Fun place to eat and very good service. Really cool atmosphere! Minutes from Cedar Point which is nice. Portion size is huge and food is delicious. I felt the prices were a little too high. There are very limited places to eat in Sandusky that are original and not a chain restaurant . So this is probably as good as it gets in that area.

Wow!! Just wow. This place was horrible! Although our waitress was not horrible we saw her maybe 3 times in whole almost 3 hrs we were there. On top of the obnoxious drunks that littered the entire place yelling and screaming like maniacs (and there was not even a game on!) We ordered 7 burgers and 1 personal cheese pizza, everyone's order came out BUT THE PIZZA!!! The easiest thing to make they forgot. Okay now it happens but when my party is almost done eating and a small cheese pizza is still not out, then when it finally does come out it's not even done in the middle!!!!! The dough could be stretched like I was making the pizza. Yikes!! That's just plain bad/lazy service. I was told the pizza would be removed from the bill (it wasn't) and they added an extra tip on my card after I left!! Found out when checking my account!! Mind you I gave the waitress a $20 tip already because she still has to make a living and it wasn't her fault the kitchen is bad. Never ever again will I waste my money on this pathetic restaurant. If you're a drunk this is definitely the place for you but if not STAY AWAY!!!!! A side note this places menu is ridiculously large, if they would cut the selection in half I think they could focus on making better food. I mean you are almost reading a novel instead of a menu.

Typically, this is not a place I would enjoy but surprisingly, I did enjoy it. So as a newbie, I had no idea what to expect but someone posted something on a message board that this was a place to check out if in Sandusky. While I would describe this place as a cross between a sports bar, hooters and a small casino, there are things that work well here. First off, I can see this place being very busy when Cedar Point is really busy but thankfully I came here before peak season. I was expecting a standard offering of beers with typical cheap American beers but was pleasantly surprised with the few craft beers available. I settled on the Harpoon IPA. Not the best IPA but still a better beer than miller or coors which they also offered. My server was awesome! Very courteous and helpful. She explained to me, as a newbie, that their specialities are wings and burgers. So I opted for the Cajun burger and a hot chipotle boneless wings. The burger was delish! This burger was so flavorful that it could stand without the Cajun seasoning. The sauce on the boneless wings was awesome! I almost took some of it home with me. The only disappointment was the chicken. Some of the pieces were cooked perfectly but others were rubbery and obviously overlooked. As far as the atmosphere, they have mostly bar tables, a few booths and a decent sized bar in the back. The place has at least 30 TV screens throughout with various games from baseball to horse racing to keno. There are also various lottery machines near the entrance and an actual gambling parlor. Overall a great place. A very nice surprise!

My family and I frequent this establishment, especially during the Triple Crown season and the Cedar Point off season. We have a particular waitress that we love getting, but haven't been in her section for a few visits now. This review will focus on our 5/16/14 visit. First, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table at about 7PM. As it is just the start of the Cedar Point season, this wait time should start to increase. We started with southwest egg rolls, which we think we're new to the menu. They were as good, if not better than the southwest egg rolls at Chili's. They were around $8.00 for approximately 5 egg rolls cut in half. I had my usual - the Thirsty Bam burger. It is a delicious burger with garlic and Worcestershire sauce mixed in served on a ciabatta roll/bun. It's about $9.50 with a $2 up charge for seasoned or sweet potato fries. Served with a fried pickle and a small cup of coleslaw. My daughter and wife split a small, flat bread style pizza for about the same price. No complaints from either of them. As for drinks - I had a gigantic mug of Molson (about 33oz.). My daughter had a non-alcoholic "pony brew" which my wife said is supposed to resemble the brew sold at the Harry Potter park at Universal Studios. This restaurant also has a semi-complete Fricker's menu available for those that want wings/chicken dishes. As other reviewers said, TP is not cheap. I was at $64 with tip for 2 adults and a 5 year old. We can usually eat at Fricker's for around $40 for roughly the same meal. If you are traveling to Cedar Point, the attached hotel and micro-water park maybe a cheap alternative to staying at the actual park. Additionally there is a bowling alley attached to the other side for more family fun. This place is kid and adult friendly. I would recommend one of the novelty adult drinks in the take home leg lamp (like Christmas Story) or the Rockband like guitar. Did I mention they have simulcast off track horse race betting? This is the only location I have found in Northwest Ohio since Raceway Park closed. Come for some friendly wagering and stay for the food and drinks!

  • Chelsea B.

This place is the best!!! We go everytime we go to Cedar Point. Whenever its busy you still get seated promptly and get great service! The drinks are out of this world! They have 120 oz giraffe kegs of beer you can get for your table on top of a lot of other sized novelty cups for mixed drinks. The food is amazeballs. We always get the pizza because its the best. But, there's so many different choices and everything is a very reasonable priced. If you like to gamble this is the place for you! You can bet on horse races, keno, scratch offs, etc,. They also have lazor tag and bowling alley attached AND like I said it's right outside Cedar Point. This place is awesome and everyone should go at least once when visiting Cedar Point!

If you are staying near Cedar Point and are looking for a tasty meal and a nice pint stop on in. I was there during Christmas in July and had a tasty treat. Great find and friendly service.

Like many of the reviewers, I was in Sandusky to visit Cedar Point. This restaurant was across the street from our hotel. After a long day at Cedar Point, we didn't want to drive around an unfamiliar town looking for food, so we walked over to the Thirsty Pony. The place was packed. We had to honk a horn to get someone to seat us (it was hilarious). There were no tables, but the greeter had noticed two seats at the bar, so in we went. The menu is pretty big. Mostly burgers, sandwiches, wings and pizza. They also have a decent beer selection. I ordered a patty melt with sweet potato fries. My boyfriend ordered a Ruben. The staff was very upbeat and attentive. The food arrived quickly. Both came with a fried pickle. Mine had some sort of sweet cinnamon sauce to dip my fries in. We both enjoyed our food. Portion was huge, so we were unable to finish! The lady next to me had a giant plate of fries with all sorts of stuff on top, plus some wings, which I resolved to order the next time I visit Sandusky. You know it is a good restaurant when you have already planned your next visit!

Amazing food but the atmosphere is completely chaotic. We went twice and both times the service was atrocious. There's a lot to keep you occupied while you wait like OTB, keno, lotto scratchers, etc. I had a margarita and it was gross so I'd say skip that. The food otherwise, is worth putting up with the constant call for "Rebecca to the Stable" over the PA. The food was amazing so I would actually come back. They have the best chicken strips I've ever had which sounds weird but it's from some local company that does them perfectly.

I think I could have liked this place a lot more if the waitress was not downright rude. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes just to get any service, we ended up with a rather short-tempered, unhelpful waitress. Trying to get information from her about menu choices and beer options was nearly impossible; when asked a second time, she did not take even 10 seconds to stop and answer the question. Yes, it was busy, and she may have been having a bad day, but when your job is providing a service to others, taking a few extra seconds to stop and answer a question can make the difference. In addition, my friend's food came out not fully cooked, and when approached about it, our waitress basically shrugged it off. She left our table after being told about the uncooked food without checking on anyone else. We had to wait almost 45 minutes after we all finished our meals just to get our bills. I'm not sorry to say this: the service was unacceptable and the food was nowhere near the price we were charged. The ONLY redeeming part was the manager on duty asking about the incident with food (AFTER overhearing us make mention of it) and removing it from our bill.

  • Colleen M.

Pretty decent place, and the bonus was that it was the restaurant of the hotel we were staying in, so that made it even better! We were there twice, service was good. We each had fish sandwiches, he had walleye and I had perch. His sandwich was definitely better than mine. Definitely will stop back here if we're in the area.

After a visit to the Thirsty Pony, I was ready to "giddy on up" out of there. First, service was slow. I experienced shorter waits for Cedar Point rides. A friend and I went on Tuesday after at day at the park (relatively off-season). We arrived at 8 and didn't leave until 10. We're not into placing bets and playing keno as the Thirsty Pony seems so keen on pushing, so thankfully we had a large glass of beer and "Shoot, Shag, or Marry" to keep us occupied. The booth and the bathroom were a bit dingy (admittedly, after a full day at the park, we were too). The food, however, is good. The Thirsty Bam Burger is made with horseradish, garlic, salt, pepper, and steak sauce in the ground beef. The flavor was subtle, but tasty. It's certianly inspired me to experiment this summer grilling season. It was also topped with swiss and mozzarella cheeses on ciabetta bread (a nice variation). I also had an order of sweet potato fries, which were sprinkled with cinnamon sugar - a daring twist that ultimately fell flat. If you can wait and you don't have to use the bathroom, the Thirsty Pony *might* be a good place to go. Maybe.

  • Patrick H.

I was here on a spirit quest - my spirit animal is actually a thirsty pony. I found the flashing lights overwhelming. My chicken sandwich was dreadful. I tried - and failed - to place a bet using the Keno machine, and there was an incredibly creepy man at the bar with, like, this really weird shirt. Thirsty Pony is basically a microcosm of what all of Sandusky is like.

    (2)
  • Colleen M.

The prices are high and the service is slow. I have been here many times and the pizza is good but that is the only food that is decent. The wings and chinks are nothing spectacular and the fries always seem undercooked. The best part of the experience is drinking the yard of long island.

    (2)
  • Dea A.

A group of us went here to get our drink on while the rest of the Cedar Point was getting rained on. They had ridiculously cheap food. The 1/2 yards were very reasonably priced. And they have some OK beers on tap, nothing amazing. The service was also a little slow, but it was pretty packed. If you eat there you can apparently get a free game of bowling at the adjacent hotel. Overall, not bad, i would go back here again if we were once again rained on at Cedar Point. An amusing time.

  • Chris M.

This place wasn't bad, it was literally just mediocre. Took kind of awhile to get the food, and it wasn't very busy when I went there. What I had was probably a bit overpriced for the quality, but then again its a tourist esque place since it's right in front of the entrance to cedar point. I had 120 oz of beer.

    (2)
  • Griffin W.

As soon as you walk in you have to honk a horn for service. The servers are nice, and they have good hot dogs. This place was packed!

    (5)
  • Steve N.

The only redeeming quality I got out of this visit was how amusing the welcoming horn to request seating from wait staff is. I had a pint of blue moon, mussels and their black and blue steak salad. Upon receiving the pint, there was what could only be described as mush. Orange mush sliding down the side of my glass. Further inspection gave witness to what appeared to be a bite mark in my slice of orange. I figure what the hell, it's alcohol I'll be fine. (Also had a long day at work. So I really wanted it without a fuss.) Then came the mussels in white wine sauce. I'm pretty sure you have to rinse off the mussels prior to cooking but this honestly tasted like it was cooked in a few scoops of seawater. I couldn't finish and thought maybe the steak salad would be better. As soon as I got the plate I noticed the lettuce had in all likelihood been saved from at least the day prior. Everything type of produce on this plate was less fresh than I'd prefer. The steak was done okay at least. Prepped mid-rare and somewhat edible. Halfway through the salad someone lit up a cig. It was time to go...

The only reason we came here is because my friend suggested it because it was open late and we arrived into town late. The food was blah. Is there anything else to say? No, not really because there was nothing awesome about this place.

  • Josh S.

Cool place! It took forever to get the waitress to notice us but once she did everything was fine. In her defense, it was 9:30 on a Friday night and the place was pretty packed. I would say that the service is overall slow so if you are in a hurry you may want to reconsider your options. We had a beer and supper and it took over an hour. I got the T-Bone steak and being from Nebraska my expectations were high. The steak was cooked to the proper doneness, it was juicy and tender, however I was disappointed with the lack of char on the outside. Maybe they don't have a powerful enough grill/broiler back there to sear the outside without overcooking the steak. Oh well, it was still a satisfying hearty meal. I washed it down with a Yeungling and was a happy camper! This place is rather pricey, I think bottles of beer were something like $3.75, but that's usually what you can expect with a bar like this that is attached to a hotel and very close proximity to Cedar Point. One serious complaint: don't even think about getting package beer to go, they give you no discounts you will pay in full, what a ripoff!

  • Todd H.

I thought the food was very good. Pizza was spectacular. However, that being said, I was overall disappointed. Service was slow, prices were very high, and the place seemed dirty. I would say this may be a good place to go to get hammered or just hang out, but we went around 5:00 and it was just kind of "eh". For example, our bill was over $50 for a medium pizza, 2 side salads, an order of nachos, a beer, and a margarita.

THIRSTY PONY RULES! I love this place. My boy and five of our friends stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and had a blast. The bar area is awesome, and the hot wings are delicious. The thirsty pony logo is the illest logo known to mankind, and the pool/resort area is also dope. The service was awesome and nothing went missing from our hotel rooms. We would've also done the bowling, but we were at a loss of motor skills from the rides and bar, but the bowling area looks awesome since it's a glow-in-the-dark alley. You are a stones throw from Cedar Point, and that was a perk as well. I can't wait to go back in October!

This place is ok. We go here everytime we go to cedar point. Food is basic bar food with a twist. Wings are good, sauerkraut balls are huge! Beers are cold only downfall no Bud Light on tap

    (3)
  • Rick S.

Pretty basic bar-food place. Average wings that I had, and the milkshake was not very good. Stick to the normal bar type order and you'll be OK. If you have to wait, go somewhere else, there is better not far away!

I love this place for cedar point visits, specifically the "fricken exskream" hot wings (hottest they have), my insanity is having the hottest wings I can buy and this place is up there. Great atmosphere.

Wow! What an awesome place to visit! We decided to stop here for a last minute bite after leaving Cedar Point to head back to Pittsburgh. Located down the road from the park, I'd imagine this place is filled in the summer. We went on a Sunday night around 8 P.M., and I was surprised that it wasn't busier (not complaining!). The atmosphere is really fun. There are live keno games playing, a plethora of TVs hanging around for all your sports viewing pleasure and a lot of fun artwork and designs. It's definitely a novelty type of restaurant. The menu is huge (almost too huge...) and you're bound to find something to satisfy you. I couldn't believe for less than $12 I was able to get a generous sized chicken fajita wrap, two handfuls of cripsy seasoned fries, pasta salad and a fried pickle! Great deal for a great price! The only negative thing I'd mention was the fact that the service was a little slow. We wanted to get back home after a long weekend at the park and were a bit annoyed that it was taking awhile for the waitress to check back with us throughout our dinner. However, I imagine most people go there to drink, eat and enjoy games and usually not in any rush. I'd most definitely go back here during my next visit for Cedar Point (season passes!) and get a better deal than paying ridiculous prices for food that's nothing special in the park.

We normally stop here on our way home from Cedar Point. Always good food and good service. Last night we went there for dinner during our stay at Castaway Bay. Our service was absolutely amazing as was the food. Our waitress was spot on and really awesome. We will most def be back thanks to the awesome service!

Stopped in with a party of 5 for food and decided on Burgers and Chicken tenders. We had 1 Baby Chubby, 2 Whiskey, 1 3/4lb S.O.B and then the Chicken. The burgers while they looked good presentation and size wise, they did not taste as good as they looked. The meat lacked flavor and ultimately where it went downhill for us. The atmosphere and waitress was good, but that was the only thing good. Not even the fries were good. They too were big and looked good, but it again lacked flavor. Kinda hard to explain, but it just wasn't very good. On the other hand it appears to be a good hangout and drink spot, but we didn't do none of that. We will be in the area for 3 days and will not be stopping here for food...drinks maybe.

The Thirsty Pony was the closest place outside of cedar point that was conveniently still serving food when we left at 10 pm. We got seated within 10 min and although it was very crowded, the waitress came and asked for our drink order after only a few minutes. Then we ended up having to wait about 30-40 min for our food, hence the 4 stars. That being said, our waitress was extremely apologetic and she did keep checking in with us consistently. The food was awesome! Huge portions, the sauces on the wings were good, and the "fricken' chicken" was really amazing. I got the fricken chicken sandwich with no bun, so just the chicken, and it was extremely tasty and not too greasy, but friends just right.

We ate here our last night in Sandusky. At first we were a little put off by the appearance. It was across the street from our hotel and after reading reviews we decided to try it. Wow... First it is not anything we had ever been to with keno and betting on races happening in the adjoining room. This is a bar with excellent food! Tip. Great drinks. Strong drinks. Eat first! If not hand the keys to your husband. My husband and son stated with loaded tater tots. They were excellent. Hot and crisp. My daughter and I shared the lobster bisque bowl. We should have stopped there. It was a full meal more than a starter. I love a good lobster bisque and growing up in New England I have had it made in some excellent seafood places. This was close to any of those. Now to the burgers. Exceptional. Huge, juicy, cooked to order and love the brioche buns. None of us had complaints except we could not finish them and had no way to bring them home to finish later! Service was good and fast. The staff was friendly. The drinks were good. Wish we had tried it sooner in our trip.

Great place! Went there with a friend and he got the best burguer we both have ever had. He got the Snooty Shroom Burger and I got the snooty M. O. B. Fries were homemade and delicious. Worth going there!

Wow This place owns the title for best Beer and Wings! Great service, great atmosphere, great food, great price. Packed with Tvs, fun drinks cocktails, and the menu is ridiculous!!! If you have been here you ready know; if you have not then educate yourself and belly up to a table and enjoy. Cheers!!!

Thirsty Pony is by far the best place to get awesome burgers. I had the GUACAMOLE BACON BURGER and the hubby had the WHISKEY BURGER which was so delicious with the Pina Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri to chase it all down. Ohhh I can't forget the awesome, wonderful and fantastic server named Abby. Keep up the awesome service girlfriend!

I give it three stars. And the three stars are only because we liked the waiter. He was very nice. The food & drinks were horrible. I ordered a Mango Margarita. It tasted like a frozen orange juice concoction nothing in it tasted like mango. We also ordered 2 orders of nachos (really big btw but not worth $15) with chicken. We specified both with chicken and the waiter wrote it down. 1 came in with beef (cold unseasoned) and the other came in correctly. Left a bad taste in our mouths. Most likely won't be back.

Ate at the (semi) outdoor bar. nice breeze kept things cool. Fried pickles were really good. I had a cluck cluck burger, nice and juicy. Wife had a chicken breast "burger". Service was good (but the kitchen made a small goof which the bartender quickly fixed Found this place pretty much by accident last year, but liked it so much, we made sure we stopped in the area again. Definitely would come back. If your kids are smart enough to avoid the OTB (difficult, as they had horse racing on most of the screens), sure, bring your kids here. Food is that good.

Fun place to eat. Didn't realize it was also an OTB, but the atmosphere was fine for kids. Food was good, huge menu, service was very good. Loved the horse/pony theme.

This place is pretty amazing. Do not let the bar atmosphere fool you, the menu is by far better than any bar I have eaten at. Their menu is so impressive, that we not only ordered an appetizer, (which was a huge portion of pork nachos, piled with all the fixings) but an entree each and a smoothie. Everything was excellent, and this is going to be our new spot after seeing how many cocktail pitcher and beer options that the restaurant offers.

Is this an episode of Bar Rescue? The bartender's greeting was fine, and the simple drinks (beer, rum and coke) were good. But the mixed drinks were undrinkable (saw the one bartender look at the book for the recipe). So then the food...took forever and came out in pieces because one side of the kitchen was "drowning." My friend's dip came out after the other four of us were finished eating. The perch had bones in every bite (I get it...it's a tough fish) and we were promised a free beer "to make up for it" that took the bartender 10 minutes to pay attention and fulfill. Not horrible...but not recommended.

Can I just say wow! Great food, great service, and great drinks. The Frickin' chicken dip and lobster bisk were amazing. And the shut your piehole! shot was so delicious I want to go back for another. If you are in the neighborhood this is a place you have to try!

I love this place! Made great memories on my family vacay that include the Pony. I bet on my first horse race here. Got an awesome high heel drink cup/ future piggy bank! Also the Great Lakes Brewing Co's Christmas Ale on tap was like candy. One if the best brews I have ever had. Gonna try my best to visit again this Summer. I live 4 hours South & this was the perfect Lil getaway. If you want a good vacay in this area stay at Rain & hit up the Pony :) You can also go bowling too. I didn't bowl because bowling alone would have just been awkward. I recommend this place 100%

Interesting take on the nachos. Personally was not a big fan. In fact I have been here several times now and have never been impressed by the food. But come for the atmosphere. It's a party. Come for the drink specials and the specialty drinks like the thigh high cocktail or the guitar you can take home after you drink it. Bet on a horse race while your here or throw your kids into the arcade. The location is perfect. The price is right. And our service was fast and attentive

The prices are high and the service is slow. I have been here many times and the pizza is good but that is the only food that is decent. The wings and chinks are nothing spectacular and the fries always seem undercooked. The best part of the experience is drinking the yard of long island.

    (2)
  • Gail Q.

    (4)
  • Heidi H.

As soon as you walk in you have to honk a horn for service. The servers are nice, and they have good hot dogs. This place was packed!

  • Dave G.

This place is ok. We go here everytime we go to cedar point. Food is basic bar food with a twist. Wings are good, sauerkraut balls are huge! Beers are cold only downfall no Bud Light on tap

Pretty basic bar-food place. Average wings that I had, and the milkshake was not very good. Stick to the normal bar type order and you'll be OK. If you have to wait, go somewhere else, there is better not far away!

We normally stop here on our way home from Cedar Point. Always good food and good service. Last night we went there for dinner during our stay at Castaway Bay. Our service was absolutely amazing as was the food. Our waitress was spot on and really awesome. We will most def be back thanks to the awesome service!

Wow!!

    (3)
  • Green D.

    (4)
  • Heidi H.

    (4)
  • Patrick H.

I was here on a spirit quest - my spirit animal is actually a thirsty pony. I found the flashing lights overwhelming. My chicken sandwich was dreadful. I tried - and failed - to place a bet using the Keno machine, and there was an incredibly creepy man at the bar with, like, this really weird shirt. Thirsty Pony is basically a microcosm of what all of Sandusky is like.

    (3)
  • Colleen M.

The prices are high and the service is slow. I have been here many times and the pizza is good but that is the only food that is decent. The wings and chinks are nothing spectacular and the fries always seem undercooked. The best part of the experience is drinking the yard of long island.

    (2)

    (2)

As soon as you walk in you have to honk a horn for service. The servers are nice, and they have good hot dogs. This place was packed!
