Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Excellent value, good bi-lingual wait staff, very attentive and competent. The food is good and fresh, the beer is extensive: all Mexican drafts (5-8 different taps), and the prices are really excellent for their lunch and dinner specials, of which there are literally dozens for each. I've found after eating there perhaps 8-10 times, that as another Yelper stated, the food is right on par with most other Mexican places in the area. There is nothing special about it, but it is solid; just not amazing or unique in any way. However, how can you beat 5.00 lunch specials and solid friendly service with good Mexican food?

This is my third time here. It's become progressively worse each time in my estimation. I was excited that a Mexican restaurant showed up nearby. Don't ask for substitutions. It will take several tries and some attitude to get it. Don't ask what comes with the meal or what a specific item includes. They don't know. If two people order the same thing, two completely different looking plates will come out. One tostada will have tomato, sour cream and guacamole; the other will just have refried beans and cheese. One potato enchilada will have red sauce and the other just cheese. The refried beans here are some of the least appetizing I've seen. Almost gray in color and the consistency of slightly runny paste. They don't have liquor available on Sundays, but you can order beer. I'm done. Not going back.

Great place. Mole de Pollo is fantastic, as is Yucatan Shrimp. Lots of seats, service is usually excellent.

I always get the shrimp quesadilla. It is yum! The past three times I have gone the strawberry daqs have tasted watery and like there was little to no alcohol in it.

The lunch prices are great here. $4.25 for a speedy gonzales! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! It's a small location with only about 15 booths and a few tables in addition to a small bar area. There is also a patio outside, which roughly doubles the size in the warmer months. Service was fast and attentive, too. The food is on par with other Mexican places in Cincinnati, but nothing to amaze me. Of course, there aren't any other Mexican places in the immediate area, so I think they'll do alright.

To me this mexican resturant is like all the rest. Its cheap prices, fast service, and rarley consistent. However it is close to my house so a dont feel like cooking night will turn into a enchilada platter. Lol dont go here as much as I did when it first ooened but still would eat here. Like the fact its expanded in size now so dont have to wait as long.

Great food at an excellent price! Our family of three can get out of here for less than $20 with tip, and the food is always delicious! Everything on the menu is very good, especially their seafood. But don't look past the combo meals and the a'la carte menu; that's where you'll find the best deals and some really great food. My husband raves about their hard shell tacos. I personally love the standard beef soft taco, and they run about $1.40 each! It's not uncommon for me to order two tacos and a side of Mexican Rice. I always feel full and satisfied. I also recommend starting your meal with the cheese dip or guacamole. The complimentary salsa is very good (not made with ketchup as suggested from another review) and the chips come out warm. On Mondays you can snag a 12oz Margarita for only $1.99. On Sundays kids meals are only 99 cents. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is always great. While El Picante does offer takeout, I do not suggest it. Every time we've gotten take out, our order has been completely screwed up and something is ALWAYS missing. This is not the case when dining in the restaurant, so take some extra time to sit down and enjoy your meal!

Went for the first time today with the family. The place has a nice atmosphere and is clean. The food tasted good and was hot. It was served in a descent amount of time. The staff was very friendly. Good prices. We will be back.

We have been regular customers for the past eight months. The food is great and we usually always have had great service. However, there have been two instances where we have had to wait a ridiculously long time for our check. The first time it happened, we let it pass. The second time was last night (different waiter) and we waited 20 minutes from the time the waiter knew we needed our check to the time we left. Another table ordered their food and received their food while we waited. Our waiter went into the other area and put up chairs and when he came into our section, he had to have seen us and still helped the other waiter bring food to the other patrons' table. This was after nine at night so they were not busy. It became a joke as to see how long it would take for him to give us our bill so we could pay. If I didn't like this place so much, I would have walked out because clearly the waiter wasn't too eager for my money. Walking out, I asked the man at the door if he was a manager and he said yes. I told him what happened and he was very apologetic and gave me a gift card, which was much appreciated. We really love this place but this experience has really left a bad taste in my mouth. We will go back to this location to use the gift card but if we go to El Picante again after that, it will be at the one in downtown Loveland, at least for a while.
