Osaka is a gem of a sushi restaurant. The fish is extremely fresh, the sushi beautifully presented, and the servers are all lovely people. I ordered the Hawaii roll, which contained salmon, tuna, seared salmon, avocado, and seaweed salad. WOW the fish tasted incredibly fresh! I like how they put the sauce of the side instead of drowning the roll in it -- nothing to hide here! My friend got the steak hibachi. This was really fun to watch. Would recommend bringing guests and the family here, as it can be a really amusing and funny experience. Only slight quip is that the hibachi grill has to be cleaned in front of you right after the food is cooked. This is understandable, but it kind of made the eating area around us smell soapy for a while. Fried ice cream was decent. The fried exterior didn't add much to the dessert. I might just go with the normal ice cream next time instead.

The combination of Hibachi and sushi works well. The Hibachi chef puts on a real spatula-juggling show as introduced by Benihana to the US so many years ago. The added touch is that he squirts Sake from a squirt bottle into your mouth from a 3 foot distance. All of the Hibachi meals are excellent - filet mignon, chicken, shrimp and scallops. Fried rice and fried noodles are tasty. You can order sushi at tables, the sushi bar or even the hibachi table. The sine qua non of sushi is fresh fish, and Osaka has the freshest. They also create novel combinations in their maki. Overall, an excellent dining experience and relatively inexpensive to boot.

Osaka is a fantastic sushi restaurant and I am so thankful they are open again! Even if they weren't the only sushi restaurant within 20 minutes of Wading River, they would still be the best. The food is always perfect whether I dine in or take out. I'm not a big hibachi eater, so I haven't tried the new offerings. A few things to note: 1- I'm pretty sure you can bring your own wine even though they sell beer and sake. That is a nice touch. Although, every time I have been there someone has a magnum on the table. Please people, if a place has a byob offering, try to keep it classy. Nobody wants to watch you guzzle a magnum of Cabit while they wait for you to leave your table. 2- Sometimes they deliver. I think. When I first moved here a year and a half ago, they would occasionally deliver, but I think that policy is over because... 3- It gets PACKED. I mean really packed. Being the only sushi place for miles has its advantages, but I feel like the servers and chefs are incredibly overworked and trying to clear tables and push out orders at an inhuman speed. If I could give any advice to the ownership, it's to hire more servers. Last night at 7 PM I watched one poor server answer phones, greet and seat people, bus and wait tables and fill take out orders. The other servers were running around like mad. A few diners and potential diners walked out because they said everything was just too slow. I've seen it like this a few times and I think they could seriously benefit from a dedicated hostess that deals solely with take out orders, reservations and seating. This place would be a 5 star rating if they had more staff.

This is my new go to sushi place. I didn't have anything spectacular this time since I was just trying it out. I had an eel roll and a fried roll the one with the mixed seafood and they were both amazing.

2nd times a charm Too. Better then the first. Didn't have an item on menu we wanted but wasn't a problem. Apparently their sushi chefs are just as computer savvy as they are at their craft. Looked it up and made what we wanted an better then ever.

Disappointing hibachi. Had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation. Seafood over cooked. The saving point was outstanding sushi rolls. Great quality, size and combinations. Highly recommend for sushi, skip hibachi.

We LOVE coming here for sushi! They have really neat specialty rolls, like the Paradise Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy crab, fried banana wrapped w/ soybean paper, and chef's special sauce) and the Dungeon Lobster Roll (lobster tempura, asparagus, mango, avocado inside w/ soybean paper, chef's special sauce). Very nice staff and very trendy environment. The hibachi section of the restaurant is relatively new and is fantastic! Fun chefs and excellent-tasting food. Reasonable prices too.

Excellent choice! First time here, didnt go crazy, kept it simple...nice salad for starters with a fresh ginger spice, just right, some miso soup that was perfect, not too salty but very tasty...we had the teriyaki tofu and the chicken teriyaki, both were awesome! There are an abundant sushi places new to the area and surrounding towns but Osaka stands out among them. Dine in or take out, their service and efficiency is impeccable. I love their specialty sushi rolls. They are all delicious. Their kani salad is also yummy, as well as the miso soup. I never had fried ice cream before here but it was AMAZING! I definitely would recommend this place!

I really loved this place. Was there 2 to 3 times a week. Unfortunately it has gone downhill not so fancy with the decorations on the sushi the bathrooms are filthy the staff keeps changing on a regular basis so nobody remembers you nobody knows what you like. What a shame such a nice place. I guess that's what happens when people get too confident. Back to Benton's still the best

Went there on a Tuesday night and found it pretty busy. We were sited fast and the staff was attentive. The decor is in very "blue" :-) and the tables a bit squished to me and the siting not very original (I dine at Sushi place with Tatami style sitings and soft natural wood colors that reminds me more of Japan than this hip place). Food wise, the fish was fresh overall, no complaints. We took several rolls which were quite tasty and original, one with tempura which was still crunchy (not always the case). We also had several Sashimi - the scallops were delicious, the eel very creamy (amongst what remember most). Overall a good place I would recommend for dining with friends but cannot rate up to 4* ("I am a fan") due to the decor and sitting lacking intimacy in my opinion (a rushy or buzzy diner may do, not one where you may want privacy and space). Food seems impeccable based on my first experience.

Outstanding sushi and excellent dine-in service. They recently expanded their dining area, which was sorely needed, and added hibachi style dining. All the rolls I've had were delicious, the Fuji roll is out of this world! My only complaint was recently when I called in an order and arrived when it was supposed to be ready, only to wait almost another half hour. In fairness, that only happened once, and it was a busy evening...

We love this place. My family (hubby, twin 5 yr old girls and myself) goes pretty regular every other Sunday night. We have yet to be disappointed. It's a beautifully decorated restaurant, staff is friendly, the food.is delicious, sushi fresh and food comes out quickly and they ARE open Sundays, so that info is wrong on here. They just expanded and added hibachi tables and more seating. And Don't have any complaints whatsoever.

The restaurant was great. Loved the waitresses. The food was amazing, and the chef he was not only funny but really nice. The chef did an amazing job cooking. The only thing is that we were a little rushed at the end. Though other than that everything was great and I highly recommend going to Osaka for some great Hibachi.

Osaka is a clean, quaint little restaurant with a cute bar and minimal seating. This wasn't to its detriment -- the size made for an intimate dining experience with attentive service. It's set to expand over the coming months, adding hibachi to its menu. My family ordered specialty rolls, and I ordered a mix of classic sushi. The dishes were presented nicely and tasted extremely fresh (I'm a harsh critic when it comes to raw fish). Highlight: J-Pop versions of Disney songs played softly as we finished our saki. It was delightfully kitsch. Final verdict: An all-around solid sushi joint with tasty food and good service. Recommended.

Driving home from Riverhead we stopped at this hole in the wall, strip mall Japanese for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Great, fresh sushi and a wonderful tekka don made for a nice dinner. Even better, very reasonable prices. Just wish the space was bigger. Worth the drive.

Great food!!!! The tuna avocado salad was the best I've ever had.....the dressing was amazing!!!! We also had a special app....tuna dumplings....O M G!!!!! Ordered three speciality rolls that were also very very good. The place is pretty small so it's not very good for large groups. Definitely a hidden gem though....I would have never known it existed if it wasn't for a friend that lives in the area. I would definitely recommend any sushi lover to give this place a shot....I will be adding this restaurant to the top of our sushi spots!!!!

First time here because our regular place for sushi is closed on Tuesdays. Osaka is small, yet modern and sleek. We were seated immediately and our waitress, although very busy, was very attentive. We ordered the crab and avocado appetizer, very nice. Also ordered a very nice Bento box with tempura shrimp and all the regular sides (rice, California roll, tempura vegetables, dumplings and some delicious stir fried shrimp as well. Will definitely come here again.

We're definitely regulars; they always know what we're going to order, and they even deliver to us on slow nights when they can. Nicole is the sweetest server, and she's absolutely wonderful. The sushi guys are fast, clean, efficient, and nice. Presentation is always perfect as well. Coconut shrimp, tuna raviolis, shrimp yakitori, beef negemaki, paradise roll (with banana), rock n roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll, rock shrimp, avocado salad, everything. Yum. I've never had a bad thing there, everything is fantastic, and so way past "good". I also love that they use colorful soy paper for a lot of their special rolls, and don't just wrap everything in a tough piece of seaweed like other places. Their spicy mayo, eel sauce, coconut shrimp sauce, and ginger dressing are all fresh and great. Hibachi is a little sweet for me but always tasty and fresh. Every appetizer there is amazing, sushi is bomb, super yummy special rolls, edamame never overcooked, Japanese sodas are yummy, entrees, desserts, everything there is fantastic, and everything is actually better than Kotobuki for the most part. It's a lot smaller, very tiny actually, and thankfully not as well-known or crowded as Kotobuki. They do have a liquor license now, but I believe you can still BYOB if they don't have what you want. Their food tastes as good as, if not better than, it looks.

The only good that has come from me eating here has been the confirmation that I actually do have a heart. I now know this because my heart is absolutely breaking while I'm writing this review. Let me preface by saying that the restaurant (while tiny) is decorated beautifully and the staff are very friendly. Ok, now that my conscience has been quieted (somewhat) I'll move onto the important information. The first time I came here I ordered two different specialty rolls to go. I can't remember what they were but I was not blown away. I typically order things with eel, tuna, yellowtail or salmon so I would imagine that the rolls that I got had some combo of those ingredients. I can't recall anything that horrified me by that first experience but I specifically didn't write a review because I wanted to give Osaka a second chance before writing anything. The second time I came here (for lunch today) I was really weirded out by some of the things that I saw and ate. Again, I ordered take out but this time I didn't call ahead. I bought a small container of ginger dressing for a salad that I had brought to work from home. While I was there I also ordered an eel avocado roll. What really freaked me out was the fact that the eel for my roll was reheated in a toaster oven under the sushi bar. It's one thing if they do this in the kitchen and I don't see it, but seeing that my eel was warmed up in a toaster really struck a nerve with me. I accepted that this was what had happened and took my food back to work. The dressing was ok but definitely not the typical ginger dressing that I was craving. The eel was ok but I was psychologically traumatized and felt a little grossed out eating it. I guess there wasn't anything wrong with it taste wise but I couldn't get the sound of the toaster bell out of my head. Also, they gave me little packets of soy sauce. I like to dip my sushi into the soy sauce, not pour so this upset me a bit. Finally, I ate a nice big piece of pickled ginger and immediately spit it out. I tasted like it was soaked in chlorine. I think that what upset me the most was the fact that I really wanted this place to be awesome and I was let down. I wanted the restaurant to bring in tons of business and really thrive but I'm not optimistic. I've also talked to coworkers who have tried the food here and they have also said that they will not be eating here again. I'm rambling because I'm full of regret over this restaurant and this review. I guess I'll end by recommending that if you want sushi and are in this area, try Benten in Mt Sinai if you don't mind driving a little bit further.

Absolutely amazing! It is kind of out of the way for me and when driving there I pass 3 other sushi restaurants and it is so worth the drive! small but VERY clean and trendy inside. The sushi is delicious and has a lot of variety! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR DINE IN AND TAKE OUT!!!!

This place is a gem! I am a sushi fanatic, been to a lot of places on the island and this is one of the best! I live in Wading River so I was excited to try this since lately me and my boyfriend go to Aji 53 all the way in Smithtown. I am so glad I found something so close and just as good!! My boyfriend got 3 specialty rolls (Hawaii Roll, Angry Dragon, and Twister) all of them were outstanding. I got a sushi bar entree (Spicy Maki Combo) that came with a soup and salad and three rolls for 14 dollars! Very very good. For dessert we got the red bean and vanilla mochi ice cream with green tea. Incredible! Even the waitress was very sweet and attentive. This is definitely my new home base for sushi :)

I've been here about 5 or 6 times already. Its a short 5 min drive for me which is nice. The interior is very modern and clean looking, service is quick and the staff is super nice. I always get the Kani Salad to start, and theirs is the best one I've had on Long Island. Not to much mayo and not bland. The I get either 2 specialty rolls or a specialty roll and a spicy crunchy yellowtail roll. The rolls are always a good size, not super small like Benten's, the fish always tastes fresh. I never get cooked fish so I don't know about the toaster, but I have seen many other sushi places on Long Island do that. Lastly its BOYB, which is great. I'm a beer snob and I hate how none of the sushi places around here carry good Japanese beer, just bud ripoffs, and I can bring some Hitichino which pairs beautifully with sushi.

This is one of the newer sushi/Japanese places in the area and though it's not as good as my personal favorite, PJ Sushi Teriyaki this comes in a well-placed second. If you blink while driving past, you'll miss it as it's a small little place amongst many businesses in a strip mall. It's decorated beautifully and the staff are friendly and the food came out quickly. Their rolls always taste fresh and are large opposed to Benten or Mt. Sinai sushi. Their sweet potato and shrimp tempura roll are superb. I have also ordered off their entree menu and got the shrimp katsu one time, which was definitely worth the money because not only did you get a massive pile of shrimp, the panko breading made it crunchy, yet the shrimp were sweet and tender on the inside. It also wasn't overly salty. I wasn't crazy about the sauce they served with it as it tasted a little too acidic or perhaps sweet, I couldn't really tell which one was correct. They usually offer coupons in the pennysaver too so look out for one when the pennysaver comes in the mail. I've been here 3-4 times and it's a good place to come when I don't want to drive far (5 min. drive from my house) and want decent food for a decent price.

Went to dinner here last night. It's ok about average. It's modern and relaxed decor. The rolls are fresh and tasty but not very creative. A basic sushi joint. My husband got hibachi shrimp and chicken which he really enjoyed I tasted his rice ...it tasted like fish but he liked it. The pork gyoza was awesome.
