Our family of 4 walked around the neighborhood and decided to try this place out. After ordering the food, we had time to really look around the inside of the restaurant. We noticed how dirty everything, from the floor to the counter to the kitchen equipment. The manager was overheard telling one of the workers to only place 1 plate in the microwave at a time. This makes sense since putting 2 plates of food would make the heating very uneven. We had a bunch of different dishes, but I think it was the undercooked lamb kabobs that did it. My wife and I had shared that and we were crapping and throwing up for days afterwards. My kids had couscous and other stuff and were unaffected. Dirty and poor food prep. Don't go there.

I went to the Port Washington ayhans for lunch and the food was much more tasty than I remember it being at they're great neck location.

We visit this restaurant nearly every Sunday for the Brunch Buffet. The food is always fresh and plentiful, and very tasty Try the steak , moussaksa, and salads, all of which are excellent. . There is also a huge variety of freshly prepared desserts. The staff is very accommodating, and the manager, Brady, is responsive to my special needs, as I am allergic to black pepper. The environment is very pleasant, and restrooms and restaurant very clean. Coupons for brunch are often available in Newsday or online for $9.95 to $16.95, and you can't beat the price for the overall quantity and quality of the experience.

3.5 stars... Ayhan's Shish Kebab restaurants are now well-established all over Nassau County. As "King of the Kebabs" in the area, Ayhan has built himself quite a little empire of Mediterranean food. But ultimately, Ayhan's succeeds more for being convenient than for having top-notch food. The folks brought me to this brand new location, and I have to say that it was very nicely appointed. This location has been several steakhouses for many years, and I don't think I've been inside it since it was one of the first of the Scotto family's restaurants called "The Steer Barn." The menu has a lot of appetizer, soup, salad, sandwich and kebab options. In order to try more things, I decided to forgo getting a kebab platter to get an appetizer and pita sandwich for around the same price. My rectangular meat pie appetizer came with a terrific flaky crust, but unfortunately the meat inside was too-lightly spiced to make it worth it. The spinach pie might be a better option for an appetizer instead. My chicken kebab sandwich featured juicy chunks of chicken breast, but there were too few pieces of it and way too much salad stuffed in the pita. The promised tzatziki never materialized, so I had to ask for it on the side. Our friendly server was quick to correct this for us. The folks' sirloin kebab was tender enough, but why wasn't the meat seasoned? The accompanying rice pilaf, on the other hand, was way too salty, because being made from chicken soup. That would explain the pieces of chicken in it as well. So although there were some high spots with the food here, since they can't seem to be able to get the seasonings to a proper level, I can't say that I am totally a fan yet. But the place is certainly better than "just OK," so I'd definitely give this place a shot if you are looking for something different than the usual Kosher and Italian places in this area.

This is one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Great Neck. My mom loves it too. Good selection of vegetarian and traditional dishes. Friendly service.

Sunday brunch buffet is great. Service is friendly, but slow. Prices are good. Usually not too busy. Decor is a bit fancy for the price and the crowd tends to be old. Cheese burek is really good as an appetizer but it takes a while because they bake it fresh.

Not only was the meal a rip off but the waitstaff and manager insulted my mother and me throughout the entire meal. We went for brunch and when asking about certain advertised items, they stated they didn't have them and when we mentioned that port Washington did, he said they didn't even have a brunch (which they do by the way). The salad didn't seem fresh, and they had blue fish instead of the white fish they have at Port Washington. Everything seemed a bit overdone as well, and their carving station wasn't put out until we requested it. Upon request, the manager placed down a steak, which he cut up and left out. While the steak wasn't bad, the presentation was off. Then they charged me for a diet coke because I wasn't of age to have their complimentary mimosa. Apparently if I asked for a virgin mimosa (an orange juice) that would've been okay. Then the manager offered me a shot of tequila and said "don't tell me you've never had one" despite me telling him I'm not 21 yet. Upon sharing my disgust and having other patrons agree, the bartender asked me to lower my voice. This was after a whole other party walked out 20 minutes earlier for their own set of problems. Guess they can't face their own ineptitude. Please do not patronize this place. The food at Ayhans in Port Washington is far better and the service there is beyond much better. Additional Note: After reporting my complaints to Ayhan's in Port Washington, the manager there and the owner were more than apologetic. I feel good about recommending the Ayhan's name, and other establishments, but please go there instead of wasting your time and money here.

I had dinner here last night and it was a good dining experience, but nothing fantastic. The red sangria and zucchini pancakes were the highlights of the evening. Unfortunately, the hummus was pretty sub-par, especially for a mediterranean restaurant. For the pricing of the main courses, I would expect a higher calibre of food but it was still good. The ambience of the restaurant is casual, family-oriented, and a bit kitsch with pictures of Greece plastered to the walls; however the large windows are a nice touch.

Ayhan's of Great Neck is my #1 go-to dining pleasure. The manager Brady and his staff treat everyone like you are family and they really are the best at every aspect of running a dining establishment. My wife is a vegan and if you want plenty of vegan choices, their Sunday buffet brunch has many choices. Their Turkish red lentil soup is out of this world. For the non-vegan, they have a wide variety of breakfast, Mediterranean and even mouth watering steak. The best waiter anywhere, anyplace I have been,is Jose. Other restaurants take note of Ayhan's of Great Neck! They are the ones to beat.

my fiance and I used to frequent the Ayhans ShishKabob in Garden City before they closed down...especially the brunch. We loved that brunch sooo much. So when we saw that there was a new one opening in Great Neck (it being closer to us) we jumped at the chance to go and try it. We have gone there twice now. Impressions? Well-kept restaurant, pretty good service. There is a dinner prixfixe for 19,99$ a person (soup/salad, entree, and dessert). But even if you don't get the prixfixe you still get a Greek salad with your entree, and bread/garlic dipping sauce to start. I ordered the kofte platter and my fiance order the steak and salmon kabobs over rice pilaf. Both were really good. I really want to try to make the brunch one Sunday to see if it's up to par.

So I went out a bout a month ago and I got the surf and turf. The place was ok and we were seated quickly but the meals left much to be desired. Form the under done steak in the Surf asnd Turf to the fish. I do not know what else to say.

Second time here. Pie sampler is yummy and lobster was good! Prices are fair and $5 martini's not bad. Robert was our waiter twice, and will get you anything you need fast.

I don't like that this place has different prices for dinner and lunch for the same plate of food. I went in for dinner and ordered the chicken kabob sandwich. It was about 60% salad. There were only a few small pieces of chicken in the bottom of the pita and perhaps 2 pieces of cooked onions and mushrooms. Since I had to pay the dinner price for so little chicken, I feel like I was ripped off.

I'm sorry, but this place is terrible! First of all, my cloth napkin had large lipstick smears on it from a previous patron. We went on a Saturday evening & started off with a limp, turning brown lifeless salad. After that we received our bland, tasteless over cooked filet mignon kabobs along with our undercooked shrimp kabobs. My husband ordered chicken kabobs which were completely lacking any kind of taste whatsoever. Even the accompanying rice pilaf & peas were unbelievably bland. To me, the food tasted as if it was leftovers from another day & had just been reheated in a microwave. I was really scared that we were going to experience food poisoning but to my amazement, we did not. The only good thing I can say is the waiters were efficient & polite. If I were them I'd start looking for another job because I think this location will go out of business soon! The only good thing about the meal was the glass of water. (For those who might not know, this is a chain restaurant.)

This could possibly be the worst middle eastern restaurant I have ever eaten in. Aside from the fact that the restaurant's floor and ceiling was filthy, the food was terrible. Started out with a "Greek Salad" which had lettuce that looked as though it had died days earlier, limp and brown, along with only a sprinkle of feta cheese, and not one other ingredient that customarily comes with this type of salad. My wife ordered a shrimp dish that had to be sent back twice as the shrimp were uncooked, and even after waiting almost fifteen minutes for the third time, it was not any better, almost raw. Some how, the cook lacked any type of skills, as the gyro sandwich that I ordered contained some sort of leathery overcooked meat. Almost inedible. The food is so subpar, and definitely not worth a second shot.
