Best falafell in New York City. Best hummus, tahini and absolutely one of the most delicious salads to go with their tasty falaffels. I always go for the Jerusalem platter. This place was introduced to me by my uncle who was king of vegetarian cuisine -- the fattest vegetarian known to man! He worked in the diamond district and would always bring his low-key clients, friends and family members to this joint. He was very picky about what he felt was good for you to eat and what wasn't, so he'd always push the Jerusalem platter as the go-to item as opposed to the regular falaffel sandwich. And boy am I glad he made it this way. It's pretty much a falaffel but all the ingredients are served up separately instead of together. It really is just super tasty and great. I have had their pizza once or twice, I don't remember anything about it.

My impression of kosher pizza is that it is flat, tasteless and if I really want good pizza, better to go to a non-kosher place. However, it wasnt bad, I would consider ordering from them again.

Today I had lunch with my cartoonist friend, Steinberg. We went to check out the recently improved J2. J2 used to be a standard pizza store but is now billing itself as a "Gourmet Marketplace". In addition to the regular pizza / salad options, they now have fresh fruit in the front and a buffet- like set up in the back, where you can take different dishes and then pay by the pound. This is awesome for indecisive people like me or commitment phobic people like Steinberg (just kidding). It is also great because it lets you pick exactly what you want to eat. For example, they had mixed roasted vegetables, which I usually avoid since I don't like roasted peppers or eggplant. In this situation though, I was able to pick out JUST the squash and zucchini and eat only that. I also was able to take the cheesiest part of the baked ziti, the exact size of grilled fish fillet that I wanted, exactly 3 pieces of cauliflower tempura, a scoop of grilled sweet potato and one perfect looking strawberry. This came out to about 1.2 lbs. Everything was really good, in a somewhat greasy cafeteria style food kind of way, but it was waaay too much food. Not that I didn't eat it all. Surprise Surprise...this place has pretty good pizza! I had my doubts at first from all the various reviews...but I decided not to let any of them make my mind up for me. I had 2 slices & a soda ($7.25) my only complaint is that they did not have pepsi..which is my favorite thing about pizza! The slices had some sort of "spice" which made them I guess different from non-kosher pizza...I enjoyed the change. Let's get to the juicy stuff...what I didn't like was the little bugs flying all over..which I'm only hoping was not in my food. The seats weren't that clean...but I guess I should be glad none of it got on my pants. Conclusion...Good pizza, bad atmosphere

Kosher pizza already starts off at a pretty harsh handicap, but I've seen some establishments rise to the occasion and reach the level of mildly enjoyable. Not the case with Jerusalem II. Just the thought of this place makes me gag. Forget worst Kosher pizza in the city, this may very well be the worst pizza of any kind. The place is a dump too. Probably because they gave up trying to scrub the projectile vomit off the walls.

If I can give it a negative 5 Star I will give to this establishment. This place most definitly takes the cake for serving the most greecy, lousy, piece of crap that it calls falafel. I stopped by this place one day on my way home from work, maybe arounf 07:15 PM. and the place empty but for a few die hard senior citizens who were desperately trying to make a meal out of the wilted, left over of the canamalized salad that was lying in their sald bar ( I felt sorry for them, maybe they were taking the last call discounts on this stuff or maybe family members showing support, who knows). I decided to eat in an grabbed a seat in the conner so that I could be master of all I could survey to see the others expressions when each of them chowed doen on their crap ( sorry call food here). The only interesting thing was an asian chick trying to convice an jewish guy about here knowledge of Yedish (looks like she had other things on her mind than a decent food). The Falafel had wilted lettuce that tasted like steamed vegetables. I asked for spicy, they threw some form of red liquid that did taste like spice ( maybe paprika poweder for panache). The Tahinin sauce was watery and slowing out of the sandwich. It seems like they they threw un cooked fafafel balls into un heated oils that it just soaked up oil without frying the fafalel. the inside still seemed medium RARE! If there is a WORST falafel award then surely these guys deserve it, what a DUMP avoid at all costs, Run, run don't waste even a dime of you hard earned $$ in this joint.

Very Nice place. I am a fan. Even though the lines are long during lunch hours, they somehow make everything speedy. This was my first time here, and I've never seen sandwich-makers get the line moving so fast. (this is coming from a guy who managed 2 restaurants in Brooklyn). All in all good fast food, good pricing, good ambiance, a lot of seating. Only thing I didn't like was that I had to wait in line to order, and then wait in line to pay. but those lines worked fast, so no harm done. Love ya Jerusalem Cafe!

Deli type place serving kosher food. Good variety here - sushi, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, Mediterranean food, etc. I tried the pizza here and it was actually not bad. They charge $2.50 for a cheese slice. Their pizza is comparable to good dollar slice pizza, but below average for a $2.50 slice. I have also had the falafel platter from here. They call it a platter, but it's just a salad with a microwaved pita on the side. You can get either American salad or Israeli salad (diced cucumber and tomato) or even a mix of the two. The falafel was not too good though. It was very dry and tasted a little old.

This location is moderate. Amazing service times. Polite & attentive staff members! The food smells amazing! I was just in search of a beverage. The lemonade smoothie caught my eye. Smoothies are generally the last thing I'd ever select on any menu! But!!! They had a lemonade smoothie who would pass on that? Definitely not I. As I write this review I am trying to taste the multiple flavours to give an exact taste! All that I can give as an example of this smoothie are; fresh, vanilla, sugar, icing tastes! None that scream lemon or lemonade! It's a white smoothie I didn't expect it would be lemon zinger but I did expect more of a lemonade kick! With all that being said I'm still drinking it!!! I've come here several times for lunch due its central location. Depending on what you order, it seems to be all over the charts. My favorite items to order here are anything with hummus, falafels, and pitas (they have both white and whole wheat, which is great). The lunch platter servings are plentiful and I'm always satisfied. Also, the black and white cookies they make here are the BEST ones I have had my entire life. And I'm from North Jersey, so I've had a million of those cookies. The pizza and salads are OK, not fabulous but not terrible. I've never tried the hot buffet or sushi. The prices were exceptionally cheap for NYC, but they recently raised them. They're still good, but somewhat closer to average now. In terms of the restaurant vibe, it's always packed and busy during lunchtime, but if you're alone you should typically be able to find a seat. For food I give it 4 stars, but my overall rating is 3 because I have a hard time communicating with the staff when I'm ordering. Some of them don't speak English very well, although it might be that the place is loud and bustling. Or I'm partially deaf.

Okay..um...I ordered delivery and the guy who brought my food was *super excited* that he delivered my items at EXACTLY the estimated time given to me by Seamless (1:36pm). I'd rather get my food late than cold and disgusting. It was as if it was just thrown in the bag without even being cooked. I had also ordered a milkshake which I consumed in 2.35 seconds because it was mostly water with a dallop of ice cream on top. Please don't waste your time here.. FAIL

Had lunch here twice on a recent trip to NYC. The pizza is good (a little greasy though), but tasty. Fries are OK but nothing special. I did order the Israeli salad, which was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is large and generally clean, but it does get crowded.

This bustling cafeteria-style establishment on a recent afternoon seemed to be popular with a large cross-section of Orthodox Jewry: everyone from Hasidic men and Beis Yaakov girls, to Stern students and Modern Orthodox young professionals. While this is definitely a great spot for people-watching (and it certainly is bustling and vibrant), I noticed several issues. First, the hot buffet charges the same price for all food, whether it be a piece of baked salmon, or sweet potatoes. That seems like an inherently unjust and inbalanced system. The lunch special ($5.00 for 2 slices and a can of soda) is excellent for an affordable kosher lunch option! However, the refirgerator case in the front (housing sodas and containers of lettuce) was exceptionally warm and the Squeezr beverage bottles were all sticky to the touch, which was unsanitary and revolting.

I think they've managed to mess up my breakfast 9 times out of 10. Eggs are usually overdone and the guy is pretty terrible at taking orders. More than once I've been given things that I never said I wanted. Pizza is decent. Salads are okay, depending on the day. The only reason I go is because the location is convenient. Overall, meh.

This place was good, The guy at the conger was very nice. I ordered the Cheese and Mushroom Calzone, it was a bit small and lacking more stuffing. It was a little cold in some parts, but it was still VERY delicious, and in reality thats all that really matters. They have a large verity of beverages in a big cooler so you can basically have anything you want with their large verity of food.

I've only ever stopped in for a bagel, since it's literally two doors away from my office building. Usually when you think Jewish + New York, a lovely bagel smeared with cream cheese pops into your head. Strangely when you go in, they're pretty much only going to offer sesame or plain bagels. I know that some of the more unusual options (i.e. french toast bagel) aren't exactly traditional, but you can't even manage an onion bagel? Top that off with the fact that every time I've gone I've asked for it toasted. Now there may be some communication breakdown here, but when I say toasted I don't mean "warmed with no discernible change to the texture". I want a bit of a crunch and a nice golden brown color. If you're not keeping kosher, hit up one of the other places on the same block, they have more options and do a better job of giving you precisely what you asked for, bagel-wise.

Ingredients: - One tired, hungry, grouchy family of 5, touring the city and arriving in midtown Manhattan rather late for lunch. - One restaurant with a helpful, friendly staff who manages to serve up delicious, kosher pizza and calzones with smiles to aforementioned family despite a line of impatient people that was forming. Yield: 5 satisfied stomachs, 2 relieved parents, 2 recharged older kids and 1 6-year-old with the spring returned to her step! We were about to order up a whole, plain cheese pizza pie when we noticed, to our excitement, that there were pre-made pizzas with a variety of toppings in the serving case, all available by the slice. That's a treat that we don't get at home, so we quickly changed our order to plain cheese pizza slices for the purists, trying out a couple of pepper & onion slices and a spinach slice, all of which were delicious. The pizza wasn't the floppy-crusted, grease-dripping kind that I normally associate with New York style pizza. It was more like Boston or Chicago thin crust, with a slightly crispy crust and plenty of cheese (no need to ask for extra cheese on these slices), baked to perfection so that the toppings retain their color, flavor and some of their mouth feel. As you probably surmise from the way I've worded this review, this is exactly the way my family likes its pizza. Even our 6-year-old, who is a very finicky eater, asked for a second slice. One daughter, who has the misfortune of being allergic to tomato products, had an all-veggie calzone, which she found so tasty and satisfying that she polished the whole thing off right there in the restaurant - she's NEVER eaten that much in one sitting before. We all appreciated the selection of bottled drinks, and I had a cup of one of their gourmet coffees, which, while it didn't compare to a Starbuck's dark roast cup, was good, freshly brewed and definitely what I needed at that moment. The bill came to $28 and change - just over $5.50/person. I'd call that a terrific restaurant deal!

The black hats are here! The slices don't get hot enough for the crazy line you might stand in. It's filling with crunchy crust. The pizza does its job but no more. Salad bar, fries, and falafel are carried here too. They ran out of garlic knots by my 430pm order to my sadness

Overall I like J2 a lot. My go-to is the Tuna sandwich for $6.50 which fills me and is not terribly pricey. I also like the Falafel for $6.00 which comes with a drink. Mincha at 4:15 everyday too.

I've been told to steer clear of this place because they've been shut down for health code violations multiple times. My coworker on the other hand, was not aware of this and was going pretty regularly to indulge in egg salad on a bagel which she deemed "pretty good." Unfortunately, last week when the employee reached for a bagel to smear on the egg salad, a giant cockroach moseyed on out from within. Needless to say, she left in a hurry. Just. Stay. Away.

The incredibly small slices of pizza are pretty decent, but I never bother with anything else there. Basically I eat there when I have no other choice because EVERYTHING in the place is totally overpriced, I mean just really high. I'm sure it is the location, and the fact that they service the frumest of clietntele. Yes there is people watching on occasion. I've run into my friend a famous rabbit there, but I won't mention his name. As for the "great buffet", I wouldn't know as I said it is prohibitively expensive.

My fiance went here and brought us back a HUGE raspberry hamentaschen. It was the best I've ever had. The cookie was moist and tasted like a sugar cookie, and the raspberry filling was delicious. I thought the recipe I use every year was great, but now I wish I had theirs! My fiance says the pizza was great, and that since they've changed locations and names (it is now called Jerusalem Cafe), both the inside of the restaurant and the bathrooms are clean. Remember that many of the negative reviews here are based on the old location when they were still Jerusalem II.

Whoa. When my friends said we were going to J-2 for lunch yesterday, I was like, "Forget that! Kosher food is the worst!" Totally wrong. I was absolutely totally wrong. This place has a great buffet in the back with tons of fish and fruit. Those are my two favorite things to eat. I could go on and on about how it lacks ambience and the place needs a good scrub, but we should be thanking them for even existing. Or at least that is how they make it seem. Seriously, though. Delicious buffet.

It's summer, mid June, and the AC is off. I've approached the manager to, at least, turn on the ceiling fan, but got refused. All they do for climate control is open the door to the outside. When I was asked if I will eat in or take out, I was like, "Eat in here in this heat??!" They wouldn't even turn on the ceiling fan for you if you ask? Ridiculous! Though, the pizza is ok, the slices are normal size, only they gave it to me cold. The deal for 2 slices and a can of soda for 5 bucks is pretty good for a kosher establishment, too. Let's see if that lasts.

Oh, Jerusalem Pizza. Bring your friends here to show them what the *really* good Jews look like. This place is hilarious; I don't even know how to explain it. My friend asked for Hawaiian (don't ask how long it too me to spell that right) Pizza and I almost died. Anyway, they have Pizza, Falafel, Sushi, and lot of other things even though at first it only looks like pizza. The pizza is good, kind of pricey.
