Stopped in on my way back from an overnight trip for a job interview down in the MHV. Needed some breakkie. Yelped this place up. Got a huge bagel breakfast sandwich and a coffee for around/under $5. The Everything Bagel was generously seasoned. Garlicky, salty, chewy, mmmmmmmm. ***Now I'm not from the NYC area, so I'm not accustomed to what one may refer to as a true "NYC bagel" but what I do know is that it's really hard to find a good bagel up in Buffalo, NY. I like water bagels: chewy on the outside, soft and dense on the inside. (Where I live, Bagel Jay's and Wegmans come close. Tim Horton's is ubiquitous with Buffalo and their bagels Are. The. Worst.)

Absolutely the best bagels and breakfast sandwiches within 30 miles. Try the bagel egg and cheese sandwich with sausage, my standard breakfast.

This place was pathetic, and it ought to be ashamed to associate itself amongst the bagel industry. The fact is, it's overpriced, the quality is lacking and the bagels just aren't good.

If you're not on Long Island, this is the best bagel you can ask for. I'm not saying that to boast LI's bagels, but rather to express how fantastic it is to bite into something that comes in at such a close second when you're upstate. Lox of Bagels offers up a good selection of 8 to 10 types of bagels, 4 to 6 types of cream cheese, and lots of extra goodies if you're looking to make a sandwich. I've made two very different ones, and enjoyed them both. 1 | Toasted multi-grain bagel with scallion cream cheese, lox, and onions 2 | Warmed everything bagel with two eggs, sausage, salt, pepper, and mustard In both cases I was served a fresh, soft, delightful bagel prepared with care. If you're in the area, this is the place to go for breakfast.

I'm used to amazing bagels in the NYC area, but every time I come here I'm never disappointed. Bagels are huge and always fresh. The olive cream cheese is delish.

Yes, but they sell rolls not bagels. What makes a bagel a bagel is that it is dropped in boiling water immediately before baking. That is what gives it the distinctive bagel consistency which was sorely lacking in the bagel that I ended up throwing away, it was so bad. The place itself is fresh and clean with happy and efficient staff

I am not a breakfast person. That being said, I love Lox. The bagels are delicious, made on site, as are their copious varities of cream cheese. You can get a breakfast sandwich made with hot sauce already on it, hot and fresh and delicious! There is usually a line, but feel free to read the paper or make your coffee while you wait (not very long, they move there!) There is a dining area, legend has it, though I've never eaten there. Their sign says they have soups, but I can't vouch for their greatness on that one, I've only gone there for bagels! All in all, MILES above Funkin Dunkin.

beware the newspapers, which, after you buy them and get them home, have parts ripped out of them by people who read the papers at their tables.

Mmmm, one of my Saugerties traditions. No matter when or how long I am in Saugerties, I ALWAYS have to grab a bagel sandwich from Lox. Whenever I go, there is a line almost to the door - take that as a testament to their food. I always go for my usual - bacon, fried egg and cheese on a sesame seed bagel (*drool*). It always comes out nice and hot, perfectly seasoned and completely mouth watering! I've never really sat down to breakfast at Lox, but I know there is a back dining room that I've never really been in. There are also other things offered besides breakfast, but I've never tried them! I'm a bagel sandwich type of girl! The only downside is that you have to wait a little bit sometimes and it can get a little hazey in there while they are cooking. Overall - 4.5 stars!

This is one of those local business' where the entire focus is on serving and being an active part of the community. I've never gone into the place and felt unwelcome, I chat with the short order cook all the time. Everyone you comes in can strike up conversation with the staff and feel welcome. The bagels are absolutely perfect everytime, not too chewy, not too hard. The garlic bagels are to die for. The lunch sandwiches on the bagels are also amazing, although I'll say that I find the sandwiches made on the regular bread or wraps to not really be anything special. Their choices of salads are fantastic and fresh, the potato salad being one of the best I've ever gotten at a deli and tastes a lot like home made. Overall, an absolute must stop for breakfast!

I don't understand the 4 star reviews. I guess if you are reviewing the place as a whole as a breakfast or lunch joint its a fair review. But if we're talking about just the bagels and since a great bagel is hard to find, id have to give this place 5 stars all the way. They have, by far, bar none THE best bagels in the world. There is a fine line between a very good bagel and a phenomenal bagel and they cross it. They are big and and chewy, crunchy on the outside and most of all really flavorful. It's the only bagel place that I know of whose bagels are so darned tasty that when you are eating a bagel sandwich, no matter how good the meat filling you will still find yourself going "damn, this is a gooood bagel." Oh yeah, 5 stars all the way.

Whenever I think of breakfast in Saugerties the first place that comes to mind is Lox of Bagels. With fresh, expertly crafted bagels and friendly, helpful staff, this place rocks! I personally love the sausage egg and cheese with hot sauce on a sesame bagel and it never disappoints. I come with my wife and kids regularly because the restaurant has a good community feel. They'll even scoop your bagel if you're watching carbs. Can't wait to go again soon.

Slowwww. Call ahead of time for anything other than a bagel with cream cheese. I got a chicken Caesar wrap and I was there for 35 min waiting which is a shame because it wasn't even good. Chicken was dried out and the wrap just feel apart because they put steaming hot chicken on lettuce and tried to wrap it up. Hellooo?? Macaroni salad was terrible... Mayonnaise, some carrot and pasta. How do you go wrong with that?? In positive news, staff is friendly and the bagels are good.

Should I have been surprised to find an amazing bagel shop up in Saugerties? Well I was. And it is. I knew I made the right choice when I ordered a bagel and they didn't toast it by default. My skeptical passenger was initially upset that the option did not present itself, but she was relieved as soon as she took her first bite. Definitely get the bacon/sausage (why not both?), egg & cheese bagel. Skip the chopped lox cream cheese spread though, too salty!

Delicious!! Just got egg salad on a toasted everything bagel with tomato lettuce and onion, it was perfect! They put a lot of egg salad, which was nice. Great quality egg salad, too. I've had they're bagels with cream cheese in the past and loves those too. The egg salad bagel came with a side, and the very very friendly employee recommended the potato salad which was delicious.

Go To Bagel Joint for 50 miles. This is the only NYC bagel joint around. They've also got great staff and the place is warm and welcoming!

Made a quick stop and got a huge bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese. Yum. Very fast and well priced. They have everything from omelets to buffalo chicken wraps. They have about 12 different types of bagels and various cream cheeses that all look home made. You can either sit in the restaurant (it's very cute) or just grab something to go. Glad we went!
